Résumé :
This paper puts forward the thinking mode of problems solved by self, which can turn complaints into wishes that resembles needs beyond user’s expectation and imagination. Inferring the framework for solving problems from existing problem materials, the proposed technique employs literal logic to manipulate mathematical strategies, so that rational thinking can guide the development of affectional contexts, and automatically generate solution concepts, systematically and systemically. Through the demonstration of a design case study and comparative analysis of the effectiveness of related creative techniques the feasibility, novelty, advancement, and practicality of the proposed model are verified. The proposed tool can assist its users to think outside the black box and create “needs that adopters yet to aware.”

Résumé :
Gellular automata are cellular automata with the properties of asynchrony, Boolean totality and noncamouflage. In distributed computing, it is essential to determine whether problems can be solved by self-stable gellular automata. From any initial configuration, self-stable gellular automata converge to desired configurations, as self-stability implies the ability to recover from temporary malfunctions in transitions or states. This paper shows that three typical problems in distributed computing, namely, solving a maze, distance-2 coloring and spanning tree construction, can be solved with self-stable gellular automata.

Résumé :
The productivity of 47 quality circles (QCs) over a 3-year period was examined using the archival data of a QC program. The dependent variables were the quantity of QC presentations and the speed of problem solving. These two dependent variables were examined as related to upper-management attendance (high vs. low), QC initiation (management-initiated vs. self-initiated), and collar color (white vs. blue) in a 2 x 2 x 2 MANOVA. The results showed that QCs with a high level of upper-management attendance solved their problems significantly faster than did those QCs with a low level of attendance. Management-initiated QCs solved their problems significantly faster and solved more problems than did self-initiated QCs. Self-initiated QCs with a low level of upper-management attendance had a slower speed ofproblem solving. Further, self-initiated QCs with white-collar workers also had a slower speed of problem solving.

Résumé :
Writing learning journals is a powerful tool to integrate self-regulated learning in classrooms. However, to exploit the full potential of journal writing, instructional support is needed that addresses the students’ deficits in the use of self-regulated learning strategies. A promising means to foster learning strategies in learning journals is the provision of solved example problems along with prompts. In a quasiexperimental field study, we provided fifth-grade students (N=48) with solved example problems along with prompts either right from the beginning of writing their journals or after they had already written two learning journal entries. We found that the provision of solved example problems along with prompts right from the beginning of the journal writing process fostered the quality of both cognitive and metacognitive strategies and conceptual knowledge in the initial phase. The delayed provision of solved example problems after an initial phase of journal writing yielded a detrimental effect on the quality of cognitive strategies and a beneficial effect on the quality of metacognitive strategies. In sum, our results suggest that the provision of solved example problems along with prompts right from the beginning of journal writing can effectively support fifth-grade students in overcoming deficits in the use of self-regulated learning strategies.

AbstractIn this paper, we have investigated the propagation characteristics of cosh-Gaussian laser beam in magnetoplasma using relativistic nonlinearity. The field distribution in the medium is expressed in terms of beam width parameter an and decentred parameter b. An appropriate nonlinear Schräodinger equation has been solved analytically using variational approach. The behaviour of beam width parameter with dimensionless distance of propagation ξ for various b values is examined. Self-phase modulation and self-trapping is also studied under variety of parameters. Further, the effect of magnetic field on self-focusing of the beam have been explored.

Résumé :
The robust generation self-scheduling problem under electricity price uncertainty is usually solved by the commercial solver, which is limited in computation time and memory requirement. This paper proposes an improved Lagrangian relaxation algorithm for the robust generation self-scheduling problem where the quadratic fuel cost and the time-dependent exponential startup cost are considered. By using the optimal duality theory, the robust generation self-scheduling problem, which has a max-min structure, is reformulated as a minimization mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. Upon the reformulation, the Lagrangian relaxation algorithm is developed. To obtain a solvable relaxed problem, the variable splitting technique is introduced before the relaxation. The obtained relaxed problem is decomposed into a linear programming-type subproblem and multiple single-unit subproblems. Each single-unit subproblem is solved optimally by a two-stage backward dynamic programming procedure. The special cases of the problem are discussed and a two-stage algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithms are tested on test cases of different sizes and the numerical results show that the algorithms can find near-optimal solutions in a reasonable time.

Résumé :
In relation to the main element of the hydrogen storage and supply system based on the hydro-reacting composition – the gas generator – an algorithm for its control has been developed. The development of such an algorithm is carried out in three stages. At the first stage, the problem of formalizing the hydrogen generation process is solved. Formalization of this process is carried out using the transfer function of the gas generator. The use of the criterion for the minimum error of the mismatch of the given amplitude-frequency characteristics of the gas generator allows to represent its transfer function in the form of a transfer function of the inertial link. At the second stage, the problem of determining the conditions for the occurrence of self-oscillations in the pressure stabilization subsystem is solved. A prerequisite for the emergence of a self-oscillating mode of operation of the hydrogen storage and supply system is the presence of a relay static characteristic of the pressure sensor. For the characteristic parameters of such a system, the ranges of values of the parameters of self-oscillations, frequencies and amplitudes, are determined. For these parameters, analytical expressions are obtained, which include the main parameters of the pressure stabilization subsystem in the hydrogen storage and supply system. At the third stage, the problem of forming a gas generator control algorithm is solved. As a test action in the implementation of the control algorithm, self-oscillations in the pressure stabilization subsystem are used. The control algorithm for the gas generator of the hydrogen storage and supply system includes determining the parameters of self-oscillations and comparing their values with the values obtained a priori. A typical diagram of a hydrogen storage and supply system is presented, in which the developed gas generator control algorithm is implemented

The author of this article A.B. Sinelnikov polemizes with A.G. Vishnevsky and asks him several questions. Vishnevsky considers the population as a self-regulating system. This system itself brings its size (number of inhabitants) in line with the economic and environmental situation. Vishnevsky considers state intervention in the process of demographic self-regulation to be ineffective, when it comes to measures aimed at increasing birth rate. According to Sinelnikov, self-regulation can slow down population growth (“demographic explosion”). However, there is no self-regulation to protect against natural population decline (depopulation). This problem can only be solved through demographic policy.

Humans have adapted to various environments. They have led to many changes. In particular, humans controlled strong animals and used them as livestock. These efforts have led to increased agricultural production. Humans have experienced many things. Through these experiences, humans solved the inconvenience themselves. Based on this, human life has become comfortable and convenient. The center of this change can be said to be the development of artificial intelligence. Through the development of artificial intelligence, music, art, and writing activities have become possible. These activities were activities that only humans could do. With these changes, wheels were invented. The invention of the wheel shortened the travel time, thereby expanding the area of activity. However, the invention of automobiles has provided various advantages to humans. Nevertheless, there are problems that infringe on human life, body, and property. Self-driving cars were created to solve these problems. Self-driving cars are equipped with artificial intelligence. Therefore, it is possible to travel without human manipulation. The birth of self-driving cars solved the problems of automobiles. Nevertheless, there are problems with self-driving cars. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the development process, legal and institutional processes of advanced countries. Through these analyses, we need to apply things that help us. These efforts will be an opportunity to open the era of commercialization of self-driving cars.

Résumé :
This paper presents numerical solution of second order singularly perturbed self-adjoint boundary value problems using weighted residual method of Galerkin type. First, for the given problem, the residue was computed using appropriate approximated basis function which satisfies all the boundary conditions. Then, using the chosen weighting function, integrating the weighted residue over the domain and the given differential equation is transformed to linear systems of algebraic equations. Further, these algebraic equations were solved using Galerkin method. To validate the applicability of the proposed method, two model examples have been considered and solved for different values of perturbation parameter and with different order of basis function. Additionally, convergence of error bounds has been established for the method. As it can be observed from the numerical results, the present method approximates the exact solution very well. Moreover, the present method gives better accuracy when the order of basis function is increased and it also improves the result of the methods existing in the literature. Keywords: Singularly perturbed problems, Self-adjoint problem, Galerkin method, Boundary value problems.

Résumé :
In this study, the self-evolution problem of knowledgeable manufacturing systems is studied by taking an assembly workshop as an example. The rolling horizon procedure (RHP) is adopted to implement the self-evolution process of the workshop. The whole dynamic self-evolution process is decomposed into several static decision processes. At each decision point, a static decision sub-problem needs to be solved. A general mathematical model of these sub-problems is built, and a bi-level genetic algorithm (BiGA) is designed. Simulation results show that the model and algorithm are feasible and effective. By comparison, the system with self-evolution operations has a better production performance.

Résumé :
The effects of variable thermal conductivity on heat transfer and entropy generation in a flow over a curved surface are investigated in the present study. In addition, the effects of energy dissipation and Ohmic heating are also incorporated in the modelling of the energy equation. Appropriate transformations are used to develop the self-similar equations from the governing equations of momentum and energy. The resulting self-similar equations are then solved by the Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). For the validation and precision of the developed numerical solution, the resulting equations are also solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method (RKFM). An excellent agreement is found between the numerical results of the two methods. To examine the impacts of emerging physical parameters on velocity, temperature distribution and entropy generation, the numerical results are plotted against the various values of physical flow parameters and discussed physically in detail.

Résumé :
The inverse fractal problem for self-affine functions in R 2 is solved by means of testing the invariance of the wavelet transform of the function. The wavelet maxima bifurcation representation used is derived from the continuous wavelet decomposition and possesses translational and scale invariance necessary to reveal the invariance of the self-affine fractal. Algorithms are presented which give satisfactory results for the self-affine fractal and which potentially can be applied to a variety of fractal types in order to solve the related inverse fractal problem.

Résumé :
In this work, we consider a steady flow of an incompressible fluid over a cylinder which is semi-infinite. The cylinder is embedded in a porous medium and is considered to move vertically with nonlinear velocity. A system of ordinary differential equations is obtained from the partial differential equations governing the motion using a self-similarity transformation. Such system of ordinary differential equations is solved numerically after obtaining the missed initial conditions. The problem has been solved analytically for the linear velocity case. Numerical and analytical results for such case are given to validate the numerical method used.

Résumé :
We propose that genetic encoding of self-assembling components greatly enhances the evolution of complex systems and provides an efficient platform for inductive generalization, i.e. the inductive derivation of a solution to a problem with a potentially infinite number of instances from a limited set of test examples. We exemplify this in simulations by evolving scalable circuitry for several problems. One of them, digital multiplication, has been intensively studied in recent years, where hitherto the evolutionary design of only specific small multipliers was achieved. The fact that this and other problems can be solved in full generality employing self-assembly sheds light on the evolutionary role of self-assembly in biology and is of relevance for the design of complex systems in nano- and bionanotechnology.

Résumé :
Usually all self‐similar heat boundary layer problems in presence of magnetic field are solved neglecting the Joule heat, created by current, induced in fluid by interaction of velocity and magnetic field. But the analysis of this heat shows that its influence to the temperature field is very important. For vertical flows it is impossible to find self‐similar solution of boundary layer problems due to the Joule heat influence in temperature field. For horizontal flows only two self‐similar boundary layer problems can be formulated: flow near the critical point in magnetic field with the neutral point and in the transverse steady magnetic field.

Résumé :
Electron temperature is reconsidered for weakly-ionized oxygen and nitrogen plasmas with its discharge pressure of a few hundred Pa, with its electron density of the order of 1017m−3 and in a state of non-equilibrium, based on thermodynamics and statistical physics. The relationship between entropy and electron mean energy is focused on based on the electron energy distribution function (EEDF) calculated with the integro-differential Boltzmann equation for a given reduced electric field E/N. When the Boltzmann equation is solved, chemical kinetic equations are also simultaneously solved to determine essential excited species for the oxygen plasma, while vibrationally excited populations are solved for the nitrogen plasma, since the EEDF should be self-consistently found with the densities of collision counterparts of electrons. Next, the electron mean energy U and entropy S are calculated with the self-consistent EEDF obtained, where the entropy is calculated with the Gibbs’s formula. Then, the “statistical” electron temperature Test is calculated as Test=[∂S/∂U]−1. The difference between Test and the electron kinetic temperature Tekin is discussed, which is defined as [2/(3k)] times of the mean electron energy U=⟨ϵ⟩, as well as the temperature given as a slope of the EEDF for each value of E/N from the viewpoint of statistical physics as well as of elementary processes in the oxygen or nitrogen plasma.

Résumé :
AbstractPreserving contour topology during image segmentation is useful in many practical scenarios. By keeping the contours isomorphic, it is possible to prevent over-segmentation and under-segmentation, as well as to adhere to given topologies. The Self-repelling Snakes model (SR) is a variational model that preserves contour topology by combining a non-local repulsion term with the geodesic active contour model. The SR is traditionally solved using the additive operator splitting (AOS) scheme. In our paper, we propose an alternative solution to the SR using the Split Bregman method. Our algorithm breaks the problem down into simpler sub-problems to use lower-order evolution equations and a simple projection scheme rather than re-initialization. The sub-problems can be solved via fast Fourier transform or an approximate soft thresholding formula which maintains stability, shortening the convergence time, and reduces the memory requirement. The Split Bregman and AOS algorithms are compared theoretically and experimentally.

Résumé :
The paper is dedicated to peculiarities of activating local self-government bodies in management of the processes of use of agricultural natural resources. Urgent problems concerning share of powers between the state and the region are substantiated. It was determined that bodies of local self-government have much less powers in management and control of the use of natural resources including agricultural renewable resources and in the sphere of environmental regulation than local administrations. Perspective tasks are described, which have to be solved by local self-government bodies in the process of managing use of renewable natural resources.

DNA self-assembly is a promising paradigm for nanotechnology. Recently, many researches demonstrate that computation by self-assembly of DNA tiles may be scalable. In this paper, we show how the tile self-assembly process can be used for implementing the timetable problem. First the timetable problem can be converted into the graph edge coloring problem with some constraints, then we give the tile self-assembly model by constructing three small systems including nondeterministic assigning system, copy system and detection system to perform the graph edge coloring problem, thus the algorithm is proposed which can be successfully solved the timetable problem with the computation time complexity ofΘ(mn), parallely and at very low cost.

Résumé :
Space modular self-reconfigurable satellite (SMSRS) is a new type of satellite. The research on self-collision avoidance of SMSRS is important for its on-orbit safety but is not completely solved. This paper offers a new method for joint path planning for self-collision avoidance of SMSRS. Firstly, we establish the collision detection model for SMSRS based on forward kinematics and the spherical nonholonomic envelope to detect the collision occurring in SMSRS. Then, to achieve offline path planning in joint space, we proposed the self-collision avoidance strategy, which splices multiple C-spaces based on the pre-defined joint path into a binary map, and then transforms the binary map into a map with the dangerous potential field, and planning algorithms based on a map with the dangerous potential field is proposed to find the optimal collision-free path. The new method is applied to two cases and both find collision-free joint paths for SMSRS successfully, which demonstrates the feasibility of the method. In addition, this study bridges the gap in the study of self-collision avoidance of super-redundant self-reconfigurable satellites.
