Résumé :
The study uses the Database of Names and Biographies (DNB) as an example to explore how in the transformation of original data into linked data, semantic enrichment can enhance engagement in digital humanities. In the preliminary results, we have defined instance-based and schema-based categories of semantic enrichment. In the instance-based category, in which enrichment occurs by enhancing the content of entities, we further determined three types, including: 1) enriching the entities by linking to diverse external resources in order to provide additional data of multiple perspectives; 2) enriching the entities with missing data, which is needed to satisfy the semantic queries; and, 3) providing the entities with access to an extended knowledge base. In the schema-based categories that enrichment occurs by enhancing the relations between the properties, we have identified two types, including: 1) enriching the properties by defining the hierarchical relations between properties; and, 2) specifying properties’ domain and range for data reasoning. In addition, the study implements the LOD dataset in a digital humanities platform to demonstrate how instances and entities can be applied in the full texts where the relationship between entities are highlighted in order to bring scholars more semantic details of the texts.

Résumé :
The cultural sector (arts, heritage and library agencies) receives increasing demands to articulate and evaluate outcomes of its work. These demands are challenging because of pervasive conceptions that the intangible nature of cultural activities makes them inherently unmeasurable, while their ‘intrinsic’ properties render them essentially valuable. This article addresses this challenge in positing a schema of measurable cultural outcomes of cultural engagement developed through literature analysis and an iterative Delphi-style stakeholder consultation. The outcomes are as follows: creativity stimulated; aesthetic enrichment experienced; knowledge, ideas or insight gained; diversity of cultural expression appreciated; and sense of belonging to cultural heritage deepened.

Résumé :
Semantic enrichment of BIM models is a process designed to add meaningful semantics to the information represented in a building model. Although semantic enrichment provides a valuable opportunity for BIM technology to reach its full potential, it is considered an emergent field of research. As such, the body of knowledge on the subject is incomplete and lacks formal definition of the process, possible applications, contributions, and computational approaches. In this work, an extensive literature review is performed to begin forming the body of knowledge in this field. A bibliometric analysis of relevant publications is implemented to identify previously explored approaches and methods for enrichment. Papers describing previous work in the field demonstrate the application of semantic enrichment to building information stored in accordance to the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) schema as well as based on a web ontology. A detailed content analysis illustrates the benefits of semantic enrichment for various tasks in the BIM domain, including improvement of data exchange routines, design analysis and processing data obtained by remote sensing techniques. A formal definition for "semantic enrichment of BIM" is suggested based on the common features identified during the literature review. This work discusses the significance of semantic enrichment to a BIM workflow, pinpoints its current research gaps and describes direction for future research.

Résumé :
By using the metadata for the fonds of “Chen Cheng-po’s Paintings and Documents” (CCP) in the database of the Archives of the Institute of Taiwan History (IHT, Academia Sinica, Taiwan), we develop and enhance a semantic data model for converting the data into a linked data project, focusing on data modeling, data reconciliation, and data enrichment. The research questions are: 1) How can we keep the original rich and contextual information of the archival materials during a LOD task?; 2) How can we integrate heterogeneous datasets about the same real-world resources from libraries, archives, and museums, while keeping the different views distinct?; and, (3) How can we provide added value for semantic metadata of archives in terms of instance-based and schema-based types of enrichment? The project adopts the Europeana Data Model (EDM) as the main model and extends the properties to fit the contextual characteristics of archival materials. Various methods are explored to preserve the hierarchical structure and context of the archival materials, to enrich semantic data, and to connect data from different sources and institutions. We propose four approaches to enriching data semantics by: 1) directly using external vocabularies; 2) reconciling local links to other linked data sources; 3) introducing contextual classes for the appropriate contextual entities; and, 4) utilizing named entity extraction. The results can contribute to the best practice for developing linked data for art-related archival materials.

Scientific and technical report is an important document type with high intelligence value. But the resource distribution of different carrier forms of scientific and technical report is not integrated and the resource description is not deeply and specific enough to the report document type, which influences the information searching accuracy and efficiency for users. Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), an emerging model in the bibliographic domain, provides interesting possibilities in terms of cataloguing, representation and semantic enrichment of bibliographic data. This study employs the FRBR conceptual model and entity-relationship analysis method to design in-depth descriptive metadata schema of scientific and technical report by analyzing the entities and mapping the bibliographic attributes corresponding to the characteristics of report, which can help to integrating and disclosing scientific and technical report resources.

Résumé :
Structured data, or data that adheres to a pre-defined schema, can suffer from fragmented context: information describing a single entity can be scattered across multiple datasets or tables tailored for specific business needs, with no explicit linking keys. Context enrichment, or rebuilding fragmented context, using keyless joins is an implicit or explicit step in machine learning (ML) pipelines over structured data sources. This process is tedious, domain-specific, and lacks support in now-prevalent no-code ML systems that let users create ML pipelines using just input data and high-level configuration files. In response, we propose Ember, a system that abstracts and automates keyless joins to generalize context enrichment. Our key insight is that Ember can enable a general keyless join operator by constructing an index populated with task-specific embeddings. Ember learns these embeddings by leveraging Transformer-based representation learning techniques. We describe our architectural principles and operators when developing Ember, and empirically demonstrate that Ember allows users to develop no-code context enrichment pipelines for five domains, including search, recommendation and question answering, and can exceed alternatives by up to 39% recall, with as little as a single line configuration change.

Résumé :
AbstractWe present an approach to enriching the type system of ML with a restricted form of dependent types, where type index terms are required to be drawn from a given type index language${\cal L}$that is completely separate from run-time programs, leading to the DML(${\cal L}$) language schema. This enrichment allows for specification and inference of significantly more precise type information, facilitating program error detection and compiler optimization. The primary contribution of the paper lies in our language design, which can effectively support the use of dependent types in practical programming. In particular, this design makes it both natural and straightforward to accommodate dependent types in the presence of effects such as references and exceptions.

Résumé :
In Flanders, Belgium, many heritage institutions disseminate their metadata using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting. However this protocol does not offer granular access to the metadata. This can be solved by exposing the metadata as Linked Data. For this, we developed a semantic metadata schema consisting of two layers: One layer gives a Dublin Core description and is responsible for searching the whole dataset. The other layer holds a reference to the original metadata record, e.g., MARC record. Doing this, the user can still access the original record, once he found the data of interest using the Dublin Core description. Then, these metadata records are enriched in two stages: First, we enrich the records internally, interlinking all the harvested metadata from the Flemish heritage institutions. Then, we enrich the records with other datasets like DBpedia, weaving the information into the Web of Data. For publishing the records as linked open data, we enhanced the OAI2LOD Server to import data coming from different OAI-PMH repositories, to expose the records as linked open data using our developed metadata schema and to enrich the records using our metadata enrichment algorithm. This way, the data from Flemish heritage repositories are linked with each other and published as linked open data.

Résumé :
This paper focuses on the development, paradigmaticization, and productivity of a set of complex pragmatic markers in Italian, which are constituted by two distinct elements, namely the adversative conjunction ma ‘but’ and a deverbal pragmatic marker (e.g., ma dai ‘come on! really!’, literally: ‘but give’, or ma piantala ‘just stop! give it a rest!’, literally ‘but dump it’). The main idea we will develop is that such a complex pattern can be better described in terms of a pragma-dyad, i.e., a dyadic construction with a pragmatic meaning, featuring a fixed element which systematically combines with a set of preferential fillers. In our case, the fixed element is ma, which generally signals a contrast with the interlocutors’ point of view, thus shaping the pragmatic meaning of the resulting complex in terms of interactional contrast. Such a meaning is then functionally enriched through a variety of fillers compatible with the schema, which actualize it in conveying mock politeness, disagreement, counter-expectation, and pragmatically neighbouring values. By providing a corpus-based study of the development and productivity of these complex markers, we illustrate the empirical and theoretical advantages which a pragma-dyadic approach can offer in exploring processes of functional enrichment involving complex markers.

Résumé :
Extensive collections of data of linguistic, historical and socio-cultural importance are stored in libraries, museums and national archives with enormous potential to support research. However, a sizable portion of the data remains underutilised because of a lack of the required knowledge to model the data semantically and convert it into a format suitable for the semantic web. Although many institutions have produced digital versions of their collection, semantic enrichment, interlinking and exploration are still missing from digitised versions. In this paper, we present a model that provides structure and semantics to a non-standard linguistic and historical data collection on the example of the Bavarian dialects in Austria at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. We followed a semantic modelling approach that utilises the knowledge of domain experts and the corresponding schema produced during the data collection process. The model is used to enrich, interlink and publish the collection semantically. The dataset includes questionnaires and answers as well as supplementary information about the circumstances of the data collection (person, location, time, etc.). The semantic uplift is demonstrated by converting a subset of the collection to a Linked Open Data (LOD) format, where domain experts evaluated the model and the resulting dataset for its support of user queries.

Relevance of the problem identified in the Article is determined by the need to find and implement effective technologies for formation of a child’s speech personality in educational process of the preschool institution. Goal of research is to substantiate and experimentally approbate the method of development of monological speech of preschool age children by means of modeling. Article presents the results of study of the problem of development of the preschool age children’s monological speech by means of modelling. Advantages of modelling as a pedagogical technology for developing children’s coherent speech have been highlighted. Experimentally, method provided for development of monological speech of the preschool age children through the active use of modeling. It took three interrelated stages: information and enrichment, speech-reproductive and speech-creative. The first information and enrichment) stage of experimental work was aimed at enriching the sensory-informational experience of children, familiarizing them with models. The content aspect of this stage was preparation of proposals by children with reference schemes, didactic games using symbols. Goal of the second stage of research was to stimulate children’s monological speech in speech development classes. Semantic aspect of work at this stage was the reproduction of fairy tales by children and compilation of stories using various types of models. Solution to this problem was served by schemes-models (mnemotables), with the help of which children made up stories, retold the literary text, while maintaining lexical and grammatical content. The third stage, named creative stage, was aimed at developing children’s ability to compose creative stories, use their information and content awareness to activate coherent statements of a creative nature. They used plans and schemes, and also attracted children to build them themselves. Results of research proved that the use of modeling is one of the effective ways to promote the development of monological speech, verbal and logical thinking and memory of children. Résumé :
Great efforts have been devoted to alleviate uncertainty of detected cancer genes as accurate identification of oncogenes is of tremendous significance and helps unravel the biological behavior of tumors. In this paper, we present a differential network-based framework to detect biologically meaningful cancer-related genes. Firstly, a gene regulatory network construction algorithm is proposed, in which a boosting regression based on likelihood score and informative prior is employed for improving accuracy of identification. Secondly, with the algorithm, two gene regulatory networks are constructed from case and control samples independently. Thirdly, by subtracting the two networks, a differential-network model is obtained and then used to rank differentially expressed hub genes for identification of cancer biomarkers. Compared with two existing gene-based methods (t-test and lasso), the method has a significant improvement in accuracy both on synthetic datasets and two real breast cancer datasets. Furthermore, identified six genes (TSPYL5, CD55, CCNE2, DCK, BBC3,andMUC1) susceptible to breast cancer were verified through the literature mining, GO analysis, and pathway functional enrichment analysis. Among these oncogenes,TSPYL5andCCNE2have been already known as prognostic biomarkers in breast cancer,CD55has been suspected of playing an important role in breast cancer prognosis from literature evidence, and other three genes are newly discovered breast cancer biomarkers. More generally, the differential-network schema can be extended to other complex diseases for detection of disease associated-genes.

Résumé :
Abstract. Vertical enrichment profiles of stratospheric heavy ozone (asymmetric and symmetric 50O3 isotopomers) have been derived from the Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding (MIPAS). As a continuously operating satellite instrument, MIPAS has an advantage over previous measurements in providing global coverage over an extended time period, allowing the variations in enrichment to be determined. However, since the spectral features of the isotopomers are comparable with the magnitude of the instrument noise, a sequential estimation retrieval scheme has been used to average the measurements zonally. The magnitude of observed enrichments is ~10% in stratosphere, a value consistent with previous observations and lab measurements. The data indicate that asymmetric heavy ozone is significantly more enriched than the symmetric isotopomer and show latitudinal and vertical variations in both the asymmetric and symmetric 50O3 enrichments. Enrichments decrease with decreasing temperature, as previously noted, at midlatidudes and polar regions, while they increase with decreasing temperature in equatorial regions. MIPAS measurements contain also information on the asymmetric and symmetric 49O3 isotopomers. The enrichments of 49O3, obtained with the same sequential estimator approach, are much larger than the enrichments of 50O3, in contraddictions with previous results which predict larger enrichments for heavier isotopomers.

Résumé :
AbstractIn this contribution, we present a space-time formulation of the Newmark integration scheme for linear damped structures under both harmonic and transient excitations. The incremental set of equations of motion and the Newmark approximations are transformed into their corresponding space-time equivalents. The dynamic system is then represented by one algebraic space-time equation only. This equation is projected into a coupled pair of space-time equations, which is solved via the fixed point algorithm. The solution is iteratively assembled by enrichments, each of which is decomposed by a dyadic product of spatial and temporal enrichment vectors. The evolution of the spatial enrichment vectors is investigated during convergence and interpreted by comparing them to the set of linear modes of vibration. The new method is demonstrated by means of four numerical examples, presenting not only the excellent convergence behavior and the numerical efficiency but also the limits of the proposed approach.

Résumé :
During the last decades there has been an increased scientific interest in the improvement of housing conditions for laboratory animals by providing them with opportunities to perform more species - specific behavioural repertoires through enriching their environment. Environmental enrichment is, by definition, any modification in the environment of the captive animals that seeks to enhance their physical and physiological wellbeing by providing stimuli that meet the animals' species-specific needs. An enrichment scheme can be focused on the social and the physical environment. The social environment of animals can be enriched by housing them together with conspecifics in pairs or in groups. Procedures to achieve group formation need careful introduction of individuals which are compatible, a factor which is strongly dependent upon age, sex and hierarchical rank. Social housing will be beneficial only if the pairs or groups are harmonious and stable. The close contact with humans could be also considered as social improvement. Strategies to improve physical environment of laboratory animals should include provision of stimuli (materials or devices) that are biologically meaningful to them, with which they can choose to interact or not and which are not harmful to them. In practice, any enrichment scheme should be well designed before its implementation. In depth knowledge of the behavioural needs of the animals is prerequisite. Close collaboration between the scientific and the technical personnel is also necessary. Environmental changes need to be carefully evaluated in order to establish whether the improvement of animal welfare has been really achieved and to determine the impact on the obtained experimental results. The assessment of improved well-being as a result of environmental changes is based on a complex of behavioural and physiological parameters.

Recent technologies in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment aim to provide intelligent services to users. Intelligent services can be managed and executed by systems that handle context information sets. Handling intelligent services leads to three major considerations: objects in the real world that should be described as metadata, a data enrichment procedure from sensing values for representing states, and controlling functionalities to manage services. In this study, an extensible data-enrichment scheme is proposed. The proposed scheme provides a way to describe profiles, data abstraction procedures, and functionalities that support the building of context information sets derived from raw datasets in the manner of a semantic web stack. Finally, data enrichment will help any system that uses context information by providing improved, understandable, and readable datasets to the service developers or the systems themselves.

Résumé :
The article presents the results of theoretical and experimental studies of leaching of polymetallic manganese-containing and ferromanganese ore. Thermodynamic calculations and experimental studies on enrichment of manganese-containing raw materials made it possible to determine the main technological parameters of the extraction of manganese, iron and non-ferrous metals, and to develop technological schemes for enrichment of various types of manganese-containing raw materials. The studies were carried out for polymetallic and ferromanganese ores of the Kaigadat deposit, the Selezen deposit, the Sugul site, located in the Kemerovo Region – Kuzbass. Before carrying out laboratory studies, the authors have performed thermodynamic analysis of ore leaching, chemical and X-ray structural analyzes of the samples. Laboratory tests were carried out on a multichamber autoclave unit MKA-4-75 using calcium and iron chlorides as solvents. Since the introduction of a reducing agent into the charge during leaching significantly improves the conditions for dissolution of oxides and hydroxides of manganese in calcium chloride, a series of experiments was conducted with the use of charcoal in the charge. Thermodynamic calculations have shown that the leaching process is fully implemented in the temperature range from 323 to 673 K. The results of the experiments confirmed the theoretical research results. The obtained data allowed the authors to propose a technological scheme for hydrometallurgical enrichment of polymetallic and ferromanganese ores to produce high-quality concentrates. All processed products are suitable for use. The use of optimal technological parameters of enrichment allows 95–97 % of manganese, up to 80 % of nickel, up to 99 % of cobalt, and 96–98 % of iron to be extracted from polymetallic manganese-containing raw materials. As a result of the deposition of these elements, high-quality concentrates of manganese, nickel, iron, cobalt are obtained. According to the proposed technological scheme for ferromanganese raw materials with a high content of silicates, it is possible to obtain high-quality concentrates of manganese and iron, while the extraction of manganese is 90–92 %, and of iron – 86–90 %.

We isolated BM CD19+ and CD138+ cells of 36 WM and 13 IgM-MGUS using Miltenyi Microbeads and we performed expression analysis with Affymetrix GeneChip HG U133 Plus 2.0 Array. Data was processed using RMA and analyzed using SAM and a false discovery rate threshold of 5% to select the differentially expressed genes. To further select a subset of robust biomarkers, SVMs were used in a Monte Carlo bootstrap resampling schema with B=100 external training/test splits to discriminate between WM and IgM-MGUS. 641 probes were selected by SAM on CD19+ cells. SVMs permitted the selection of 66 robust biomarker genes (Fig.1) with a MCC accuracy on external samples equal to 0.87. Functional enrichment analysis demonstrated the involvement of the following pathways: - Notch signaling pathway: ADAM17 (promoting cell growth) was upregulated while AGO1 and AGO4 (negative regulation of translation) were downregulated in WM - CAPRIN1 and SORT1 (pro-apoptosis) were underexpressed while CIAPIN1 (anti-apoptosis) was overexpressed in WM - Purine/pyrimidine metabolism (cell growth): ENTPD5 (cell proliferation) was overexpressed while NT5E (catabolic process) was underexpressed in WM - Sphingolipid pathway: ACER3, COL4A3BP, GBA3 were downregulated in WM - Rho-protein signal transduction: FARP2 (cell survival) was overexpressed in WM - Transcription: ITPRIPL2, L3MBTL4 were underexpressed while NFX1, LIMS1 (cell aging) USF1 were overexpressed in WM - Immune system: HLA-C was upregulated in WM - PRKCA was underexpressed in WM and involved in 85 pathways (MAPK-NGF-EGF-VEGF-ErbB-Ras-HIF-1-mTOR-PI3K-Akt) - MIR1204///PVT1 (oncogene), METTL3 (RNA-methylation), MINA (cell survival) were upregulated in WM As a second step of the study, we investigated 7 IgM-MGUS and 11 WM (2 symptomatic and 9 asymptomatic) newly diagnosed patients. We isolated the BM B cell clones (CD45+,CD38+,CD19+,LAIR-1-; CD27dim, IgM+, CD22dim, CD25+) using cell sorting with MoFlo XDP 3 laser cell sorter (Beckman Coulter). We identified clonally restricted B lymphocyte populations using BD LSRFortessa Flow Cytometer equipped with 5 lasers. We performed gene expression profiling (GEP) of the isolated BM cell clones of WM vs. IgM-MGUS using Affymetrix next-generation GeneChip HTA 2.0 to further investigate genomic complexity. The data was preprocessed and normalized using RMA. Selection and data analysis were performed using the t-test as implemented in the Affymetrix Transcriptome Analysis Console. Functional enrichment analysis performed using DAVID, demonstrated that groups of genes belonging to relevant functional categories were deregulated in the comparison between WM vs. IgMMGUS: - CSH2, GH2, NTF3, NPY genes which belonged to the PI3K/Akt, JAK-STAT, MAPK pathways - CSHL1 regulating cell growth - CLDN19 involved in the cell adhesion - EIF2AK3, EIF2B4 were involved in the GSK3 signaling (cellular proliferation, migration, inflammation, immune responses, glucose regulation and apoptosis) - NPPA belonging to the HIF-1 signaling pathway In conclusion, GEP of BM CD19+ cells demonstrated that 66 genes were robust biomarkers able to distinguish between WM and IgM-MGUS. The negative regulation of translation, pro-/anti-apoptotic processes, Notch signaling pathway, Purine/Pyrimidine metabolism, Sphingolipid metabolism and the regulation of transcription were mostly involved in the comparison between WM and IgM-MGUS. On the other hand, microarray of BM B cell clones (CD45+,CD38+,CD19+,LAIR-1-; CD27dim, IgM+, CD22dim, CD25+) identified groups of genes and pathways deregulated in the comparison between WM and IgM-MGUS. No statistically significant differences of expression were identified between WM vs. IgM-MGUS after correction for multiple testing. Moreover, fold-changes of transcripts whose p-value was lower than a nominal significance level of 5% were higher than 2 (absolute value) in only 4 out of 217 cases. We could suppose that the isolated clonal B-cell populations of WM and IgM-MGUS identified by flow citometry present similar expression signatures. Ongoing experiments of GEP of BM B cell clones vs. BM CD19 depleted cells of WM as well as IgM-MGUS could clarify the gene expression profiles of WM and IgM-MGUS. Figure 1 Figure 1. Résumé :
This review discusses methods and algorithms for increasing linked data expressiveness which are prepared for Web publication. The main approaches to the enrichment of ontologies are considered, the methods on which they are based and the tools for implementing the corresponding methods are described. The main stage in the general scheme of the related data life cycle in a cloud of Linked Open Data is the stage of building a set of related RDF- triples. To improve the classification of data and the analysis of their quality, various methods are used to increase the expressiveness of related data. The main ideas of these methods are concerned with the enrichment of existing ontologies (an expansion of the basic scheme of knowledge) by adding or improving terminological axioms. Enrichment methods are based on methods used in various fields, such as knowledge representation, machine learning, statistics, natural language processing, analysis of formal concepts, and game theory.

What can we learn about applied price theory from the Bourgeois Era? In this paper, we contend there are three important lessons that can be extracted from McCloskey’s work on the Great Enrichment. First, transaction costs are not constraints, but objects of choice. Second, property rights are not merely a “bundle of sticks,” in that private property rights make exchange possible, but a culture of liberal ideas makes exchange viable. Third, ideas conducive to liberalism give rise to generalized increasing returns to the scope, rather than scale, of market exchange, which generated the Great Enrichment.

Résumé :
An enrichment technique for accurately modeling two dimensional crack propagation within the framework of the finite element method is presented. The technique uses an enriched basis that spans the asymptotic dynamic crack-tip solution. The enrichment functions and their spatial derivatives are able to exactly reproduce the asymptotic displacement field and strain field for a moving crack. The stress intensity factors for Mode I and Mode II are taken as additional degrees of freedom. An explicit time integration scheme is used to solve the resulting discrete equations. Numerical simulations of linear elastodynamic problems are reported to demonstrate the accuracy and potential of the technique.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT We have developed a new, effective procedure for detectingVibrio parahaemolyticus in seafoods using enrichment and plating onto a chromogenic agar medium. Samples were cultured in salt Trypticase soy broth, which is a nonselective medium, and then a portion of the culture was cultured with salt polymyxin broth, which is a selective medium for V. parahaemolyticus. This two-step enrichment was more effective than the one-step enrichment in salt polymyxin broth alone. The enrichment cultures were then plated onto a new chromogenic agar containing substrates for beta-galactosidase. TheV. parahaemolyticus colonies developed a purple color on this growth medium that distinguished them from other related bacterial strains. V. parahaemolyticus was isolated more frequently from naturally contaminated seafood samples using the chromogenic agar than thiosulfate citrate bile salts sucrose agar medium, which is currently used for the isolation of V. parahaemolyticus. Our findings suggest that this new enrichment and isolation scheme is more sensitive and accurate for identifying V. parahaemolyticus in seafood samples than previously used methods.

Résumé :
A possibility of sintering ore obtaining from regular skarn magnetite ore by dry magnetic separation considered (DMS). A possibility of decreasing iron losses with DMS tails by additional control operation and application of separators of various design as well as application of screening studied. It was shown, that re-cleaning of intermediate product of –15+0 mm size enables to obtain from a regular skarn magnetite ore, a sintering ore having iron mass share more than 45% at the yield of 5.5% (of DMS intermediate product). It can be reached by application of a suspended belt separator with flat magnetic system. By using a drum separator with increased drum rotation speed, a DMS concentrate was obtained having iron mass share of 43.08%. Application of additional control operation of DMS tails enables to decrease the iron mass share in DMS tails from 11.25–11.32 to 9.97–10.67% as well as iron losses with DMS tails by 11.13–26.06% (rel.). To decrease the iron losses with DMS tails it is reasonable to increase magnetic field induction of drum separators of basic operation, but not apply additional control DMS operation. It was established, that the basic iron losses relate to fine class (–3+0 mm), characterized by increased iron mass share (14.43%). Therefore, for reextraction of iron from DMS tails a scheme with screening at 3 mm sieve and DMS of the mesh minus is possible. Such a scheme enables to obtain an intermediate product having iron mass share of 35.05–45.74% from DMS tails.

Résumé :
In this paper, we present an automatic procedure that enhances the solution accuracy of edge-based smoothed 2D solid finite elements (three-node triangular and four-node quadrilateral elements). To obtain an enhanced solution, an adaptive enrichment scheme that uses enriched 2D solid finite elements and can effectively improve solution accuracy by applying cover functions adaptively without mesh-refinement is adopted in this procedure. First, the error of the edge-based finite element solution is estimated using a devised error estimation method, and appropriate cover functions are assigned for each node. While the edge-based smoothed finite elements provide piecewise constant strain fields, the proposed enrichment scheme uses the enriched finite elements to obtain a higher order strain field within the finite elements. Through various numerical examples, we demonstrate the accuracy improvement and efficiency achieved.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT The inclusion of environmental enrichment in conventional broiler rearing can increase mobility, bone mass and muscle. This research aimed to evaluate the use of environmental enrichment in the rearing of broilers at different ages and its influence on performance, morphometry, yield and weight of the parts. It was used the completely randomized design in split-plot scheme, being the plots the treatments presence (T1) and absence (T2) of environmental enrichment and the subplots the broiler ages (1, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days), with 56 chicks in each treatment (T1 and T2). Data obtained were analyzed by the linear effect model of fixed effects and compared by Tukey’s test of means. The animals were raised in a controlled environment, divided into four boxes with dimensions: 1.5 × 1.0 × 0.7 m, containing rice straw bed. In T1 a ladder with a perch on top was used, distributed every 1.5 m2. Environmental enrichment used did not influence broiler’s zootechnical performance. Broilers’ morphometric properties, parts weight and body weight increased due to environmental enrichment and, improvement was observed in chicks rearing’s final phase. The environmental enrichment was beneficial for muscle and bone mass gain in the main commercial parts of the chicken carcass, in addition to reducing the allometric coefficient of the breasts in chickens.

Résumé :
A significant part of gold reserves is represented by microand nanodispersed particles in natural deposits and in technogenic formations. In order to extract microdispersed gold particles by existing enrichment methods, they must be enlarged. This is possible in the process of heating and melting the material by flotation. As a result, the flotation of gold drops in the melts becomes an element of the enrichment scheme. It includes grinding the materials and enrichment by gravity methods after it has cooled. Usually flotation is analyzed as one of the technologies for mineral processing. But it is based on the complex and insufficiently studied physicochemical phenomenon of swimming bodies of higher density than that of a liquid on its surface under the influence of interfacial tension forces. Therefore, flotation refers not only to solid, but also to liquid substances. The conditions and mechanism of the flotation of gold and sulfide drops in oxide melts are analyzed. It was found that the flotation of gold drops in melts leads to their significant enlargement and proceeds at rather high rates. The process of passing a gas bubble through the interphase boundary of two immiscible liquids is considered using the example of a matte-slag system and the conditions for a matte drop to float together with a bubble. The scale of solving these problems is determined by the fact that they expand the idea of flotation of drops in melts as a stage of mineral processing in which valuable components are in a dispersed state.

Résumé :
The purpose of the presented research is to study the possibility of obtaining an additional coal product and ironcontaining concentrate from the sludge of a coal hydraulic dump. The research involved the study of the material composition of the initial sludge and technological tests. Material composition was examined using chemical, granulometric and mineralogical analyzes, the technological tests were conducted according to the gravitational-magnetic enrichment scheme. A spiral separator was used as the main enrichment equipment. Finishing operation was performed by the method of wet magnetic separation. Having studied the material composition, we determined that the initial sludge of the hydraulic dump is represented by 44.7 % of black coal and 43.32 % of brown coal. The bulk of hard coal is distributed in the size range of -2+0.25 mm and makes 51.15 %, brown coal is distributed in the size range of -2+0.25 mm in the amount of 13.32 %. The material is predominantly represented by a particle size of less than 0.25 mm with a high ash content in it. A coal concentrate with the ash content of 14.4 % was obtained as a result of technological tests. This product corresponds to the brand LFF (long-flaming fine). An iron-containing concentrate with the iron mass fraction of 64.7 % can be used in the metallurgical industry or in heavy-medium separation for coal enrichment. The study illustrates the possibility of obtaining high-quality secondary raw materials without additional mining costs using environmentally friendly technology.

Résumé :
Salmonella continues to cause significant foodborne outbreaks, best illustrated with recent outbreaks associated with peanut butter, raw tomatoes, and serrano peppers. To ascertain the likely source of the outbreak, bacterial typing is essential to this process. While PCR has become an important detection tool for pathogens in foods, PCR can also identify strain differences by targeting gene(s) or sequences exhibiting polymorphisms or variability in its distribution within the bacterial population. Over 2,500 Salmonella enterica serovars identified based on antigenic differences in lipopolysaccharide and flagellin have been identified to date. We developed an allelotyping PCR scheme that identifies the O and H alleles associated with S. enterica serovars Enteritidis, Hadar, Heidelberg, Typhimurium, and others, with the same antigen alleles but in different O- and H-allele combinations (e.g., S. enterica Kentucky), and validated it as a screen to identify samples contaminated with these Salmonella serovars. We correctly identified poultry samples containing S. enterica serovars Enteritidis, Kentucky, and Typhimurium from our multiplex screen of primary enrichments of environmental drag swabs. PCR agreed well (kappa values = 0.81 to 1.0) with conventional serotyping methods used to type salmonellae isolated from primary enrichment. Coupled with Salmonella-specific PCR, such as invA, this allelotyping PCR could prove useful in the identification of Salmonella and specific S. enterica serovars present in foods or the environment and could decrease the time and cost associated with conventional serotyping methods.

Résumé :
Wheat flour, especially high grade flour, is significantly impoverished in macro-, micronutrients and other valuable components such as essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, soluble and insoluble dietary fibers. To enrich wheat flour, the authors produced lentil-flax flour (protein-fat concentrate) with the high protein (27.5%) and fat (11.9%) content. The developed technological scheme of the combined grinding of lentil (67%) and flax (33%) seeds included the I–III break systems, sizing system, scratch system, 1–3 reduction systems. When studying physico-chemical and biochemical indicators, it was found that the protein-fat concentrate was close to the corresponding indicators of wheat flour by mechanical characteristics. A significant proportion of the albumin-globulin fraction of soluble proteins (88%), as well as the high content of the most deficient essential α-linolenic acid (6.11% compared to 0.05% in wheat flour with regard to the total fat content) suggest the high nutritional and biological value of the obtained product. Evaluation of an effect of the protein-fat concentrate on the indicators of the finished products (crackers) showed that its introduction in an amount of 15% of the total flour volume not only did not worsen but even improved sensory indices by several criteria. The high total sensory score (32 points) indicates the standard quality of the obtained product. Addition of lentil-flax flour in an amount of 15% of total flour weight in production of bakery products as well as bakery confectionary products will allow extending the assortment of balanced farinaceous products, significantly reducing the deficiency of essential α-linolenic acid in diets upon their consumption according to the physiological norms.

Résumé :
There are abundant mineral resources in plateau areas, but it is difficult to extract them safely because the problem of hypoxia in plateau mines seriously affects the life and health of workers. In order to address the problem of hypoxia in the blind heading of a plateau metal mine, a three-dimensional roadway model was established based on field data of the Pulang copper mine in Yunnan province, China. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was used to explore the optimal type of oxygen supply duct outlet, and to reveal the oxygen diffusion law influencing different ventilation factors. Grey correlation analysis was used to study the correlation values of the ventilation factors on the oxygen-enrichment effect in blind headings, such as forcing duct position, exhausting duct position, and extraction pressure ratio. The results demonstrated that the oxygen-enrichment effect of a slit oxygen outlet was better than that of the traditional oxygen supply method. When the direction of the oxygen outlet hole was 30° and the height above the roadway floor was 1.95 m, the oxygen increase effect was better than other forms of oxygen supply duct outlets. Grey correlation analysis revealed that the major influencing factors of the oxygen-enrichment effect in the roadway of the plateau mine, were, in descending order, as follows: forcing duct position, extraction pressure ratio, and exhausting duct position. This study has a positive guiding significance for improving the respiration environment in blind headings of plateau mines.

Ultramicrobacteria (UMB) that can pass through a 0.22 µm filter are attractive because of their novelty and diversity. However, isolating UMB has been difficult because of their symbiotic or parasitic lifestyles in the environment. Some UMB have extracellular electron transfer (EET)-related genes, suggesting that these symbionts can grow on an electrode surface independently. Here, we attempted to culture from soil samples bacteria that passed through a 0.22 µm filter poised with +0.2 V vs. Ag/AgCl and isolated Cellulomonas sp. strain NTE-D12 from the electrochemical reactor. A phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA showed 97.9% similarity to the closest related species, Cellulomonas algicola, indicating that the strain NTE-D12 is a novel species. Electrochemical and genomic analyses showed that the strain NTE-D12 generated the highest current density compared to that in the three related species, indicating the presence of a unique electron transfer system in the strain. Therefore, the present study provides a new isolation scheme for cultivating and isolating novel UMB potentially with a symbiotic relationship associated with interspecies electron transfer.

Résumé :
An improved finite volume scheme based on variational reconstruction and function enrichment has been proposed in this paper. By incorporating the law-of-the-wall into the variational reconstruction, the proposed method can resolve turbulent flow accurately on grids much coarser than those needed by traditional methods. The usual reconstruction in a finite volume scheme assumes that the solution is belonging to a polynomial function space, which is inaccurate to resolve the velocity profile within the turbulent boundary layer unless the grid in wall-normal direction is fine enough. In the present paper, this function space is “enriched” by adding a basis function that is derived from the logarithmic law of the turbulent boundary layer. Then variational reconstruction procedure is applied to find the “best” solution belonging to the expanded function space. The advantage of the present method over the traditional wall function model is that the turbulent flow within the boundary layer is resolved rather than modeled. The algorithms and the implementations are discussed in detail. The proposed method is applied to the turbulent flow over a flat plate at a Reynolds number of [Formula: see text] and the turbulent flow over a plate with a bump at a Reynolds number of [Formula: see text]. The results of second- and third-order schemes are presented for the turbulent velocity profile and the skin friction coefficients. The numerical results suggest that this approach not only resolves the near wall turbulent accurately on very coarse grids but also reduces the computational time significantly.
