Résumé :
Processing of analog photogrammetric negatives using current methods brings new challenges and possibilities, for example, creation of a 3D model from archival images which enables the comparison of historical state and current state of cultural heritage objects. The main purpose of this paper is to present possibilities of processing archival analog images captured by photogrammetric camera Rollei 6006 metric. In 1994, the Czech company EuroGV s.r.o. carried out photogrammetric measurements of former limestone quarry the Great America located in the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic. All the negatives of photogrammetric images, complete documentation, coordinates of geodetically measured ground control points, calibration reports and external orientation of images calculated in the Combined Adjustment Program are preserved and were available for the current processing. Negatives of images were scanned and processed using structure from motion method (SfM). The result of the research is a statement of what accuracy is possible to expect from the proposed methodology using Rollei metric images originally obtained for terrestrial intersection photogrammetry while adhering to the proposed methodology.

Résumé :
SfM processing of archived analogue images gives an opportunity to efficiently create new and valuable 2D and 3D results. The SfM processing of digitized analogue images brings some challenges. How to digitize negatives of photogrammetric images? What scanning resolution is the most beneficial for processing? How to preprocess the digitized images to be able to process them using the SfM method? What accuracy of results is possible to expect? This paper tries to deal with all these questions. For this paper, 7 negatives of former photogrammetric documentation of a vault were chosen. The negatives were captured by Rollei 3003 metric camera in 1999. Two pieces of software were chosen for the SfM processing. A commercial alternative Agisoft PhotoScan and free open-source alternative MicMac. The results of the SfM processing were compared to the results of an original photogrammetric method, which was used for former processing in 1999.

Résumé :
Barley grain samples were dry-rolled using two different methods; multiple roller settings (MRS) vs. single roller setting (SRS). In the MRS method, samples were first separated through 4-, 6-, and 7-mm sieves and then dry-rolled with roller gap settings of 1.000, 1.194, and 1.487 mm, respectively. In the SRS method, samples were dry-rolled using a single roller gap setting of 1.194 mm. The MRS method increased in situ rate of starch disappearance (18.6 vs. 11.9% h-1; P < 0.01) compared with the SRS method. Screening to specific kernel sizes and adjusting roller settings accordingly could enhance the starch utilization of barley grain by ruminants.

Résumé :
In multi-wire flat rolling process, the error of the rolled wires in thickness was due to the roller deflection and the spring back of the rolled wire. In order to control the dimension accuracy, to know the quantity of thickness error precisely is very important. In this study, the DEFORM-3D finite element analysis software was used to simulate the multi-wire flat rolling process with the elastic-plastic deformation model, supposed the rollers as elastic body and the wires as elastic-plastic body through the rolling process. From the computer simulation results, it can be found that, the deflection of roller has the biggest effect on the dimension accuracy of wire. To control the deflection value of roller, besides roller material and the roller length, the choice of roller diameter is also very important.

Résumé :
AbstractRollers crimpers have been used in conservation agriculture to terminate cover crops; however, excessive vibration generated by the original straight-bar roller design has delayed adoption of this technology in the United States. To avoid excessive vibration, producers generally reduce operating speeds that increase the time needed to perform the field operation. The objectives of this research were to identify roller crimper designs that terminated rye cover crops consistently, resulted in soil moisture conservation after use, and minimized vibrations when operated in the field. Six different roller types were developed and tested at 3.2 and 6.4 km h−1 in Alabama field experiments during the 2006, 2007 and 2008 growing seasons. All roller types were used alone and one also in combination with glyphosate. Rye mortalities were evaluated 1, 2 and 3 weeks after rolling and compared with the check (non-rolled standing rye). Soil volumetric moisture content (VMC) was measured at the day of rolling, and then at 1, 2 and 3 weeks after rolling. Vibration was measured on the rollers' and tractor's frames during operation. Mortality for rolled rye 2 weeks after rolling was at least 98% compared with 96% for the check in 2006, 93% for rolling compared with 75% for the check in 2007, and 94% for rolling compared with 60% for the check in 2008 (P<0.10). There were no consistent differences in rye mortality across roller types (without glyphosate) and speeds. VMC for soil in non-rolled rye plots was consistently lower than in rolled rye plots, averaging 3% compared with 7% 2 weeks after rolling in 2006, and 4% compared with 8% in 2008. During 2007, VMC was affected by severe drought conditions, and differences between roller treatments were detected but minor. The straight-bar roller generated the highest vibration on the tractor's frame at 6.4 km h−1 (0.71 m s−2, RMS), which exceeded International Standards (International Standard Office (ISO)). At 6.4 km h−1, new roller designs generated significantly lower acceleration levels from 0.12 to 0.32 m s−2 on the tractor's frame and were below detrimental effects on health ‘health limits’ classified by ISO. Overall, 2 weeks after rolling, all roller designs effectively terminated rye above 90%, which is the recommended termination level of rye to plant a cash crop into residue mat, while protecting soil surface from water loss. New roller designs generate less vibration than the original design and can be used safely at higher operating speeds.

Roller quench is a rapid cooling technique used in strip continuous heat-treatment process, which is one of the most important processes in producing cold-rolled strip steel. Heat transports by contact heat transfer in roller quench, for the complex characteristics of contact heat transfer, roller quench is very difficulty to simulate. In this paper a roller quench heat transfer model is build based on Fourier-Kirchhoff differential equations. A new correlation function of contact conductance is developed from statistical mechanics model results by least square method. This correlation function solves the heat transfer boundary condition in contact region between strip and roller. In this model the contact radiation is also considered. The roller quench model predicts the heat transfer characteristics of roller quench. The model is useful for the designing and controlling of the roller quench system.

Profiling of rollers, apart from the means of inter-rollers gap control, determines the accuracy of rolled strip cross profile forming and their flatness. A number of articles is devoted to the items of rollers profiling modelling. Based on their study a task of development of strip mill rollers profiling modelling methodology formulated. The methodology based on working rollers generating lines building by geometric summarizing of grinding curves, curves of thermal profile and wear profile curves with elastic deformation curves and further elaboration of a perfected profiling of the 2100 mill roller system to provide the quality world level, characterized by δhпоп index. The elastic deformation curves defined by the finite elements method. Results of modelling of convexconcave CVC profiling of cold rolling mill working rollers quoted. The elaborated and adopted to implementation at the 4-high 2100 mill perfected CVC profiling of working rollers presented, which provides increase of accuracy of rolled strips cross profile forming. The solution based on the mathematical description of quarto roller system loading and deformation, accounting the convex-concave CVC rollers profiling and axes shifting of working rollers. Simulation of loads and elastic deformation of the PAO “Severstal” 4- high cold mill roller system accomplished by application of SIMULIA Abaqus program complex. Accounting symmetry of the task, only one roller half-set considered – the upper working and bearing rollers with CVC profiling. The barrel edge slope taken into consideration in the bearing roller model. Application of the new working rollers profiling will increase the efficiency of their axes shifting and hydro-bending during rolling of 900–1300 mm wide strips, which account the main share of the rolled metal at the mill, with the guaranteed provision of the strip cross crown, not exceeding 2% of the nominal thickness.

Résumé :
The final stage in the production of hot rolled steel is leveling on roller levellers under cyclic alternating deformation. When laser is cutting a sheet it may bend due to the release of residual stresses that are unevenly distributed over the volume. The majority of roller leveller models for calculating the process under cyclic alternating deformation does not provide an adequate assessment and prediction of residual stresses in a steel sheet. On the basis of finite element analysis, formation of residual stresses owing to roller levelling of hot rolled strip is disclosed. The implementation of a model of the levelling process was performed in SIMULIA Abaqus. Models are verificated by comparing forces under the rollers. We have experimentally confirmed the convergence of the simulation results with the measurements of the strip flatness obtained after sheets plasma cutting. It was found that after levelling, tensile longitudinal residual stresses remain on the upper surface of the sheet, compressive ones remain on the lower surface, stresses are zero in the middle in thickness, and the stress values are opposite in sign in the remaining parts of the section. It was established that the same parameters of the levelling process of different strength categories lead to different deviations of stresses. An increase in yield strength of the strip leads to an increase in the deviation of residual stresses along the strip thickness. The proposed method of simulation of roller levelling process should be used to study the stress-strain state of hot-rolled steel and to design improved strip levelling setting modes with minimal residual stress deviations.

Résumé :
A completely new design of a vibrating soil tillage roller was developed, as a result of which the quality of soil compaction was increased, while energy costs are reduced due to a decrease of metal consumption by at least 3 times in comparison with commercially available rollers. The vibrations created by the offered roller make it possible to destroy large soil fractions more effectively and ensure high-quality soil compaction. To determine suitable parameters of the soil-tilling roller, a set of studies was carried out in field conditions, by means of which suitable parameters of the proposed design of the vibrating roller were identified. Ballast weight and diameters of the pulleys on the shaft of the hollow cylinder were changed during the experiment, and the influence of these parameters on improvement criterion was also evaluated. Measurements of soil moisture, its density and structure were carried out in the course of the experiment. The experimental results were processed with modern software: Microsoft Excel, Statistica, etc. As a result of the experiment, it was revealed that the quality of soil compaction by the proposed vibrating roller is 24.7% better than that of KKZ-6 roller, which is widely used in agriculture. In this case, the improvement criterion kpl on the non-rolled section was 0.5, which is 82% lower than that of the proposed roller. The structure of the soil on the area rolled by the proposed roller fully meets the agrotechnical requirements. The proposed tillage roller of vibrating action is universal and can be used on different types of soils, provided that the ballast weight and the ratio of the pulley diameters on the axis of the hollow cylinder and on the smooth cylinder are regulated.

Résumé :
During rolling and cooling at cooling beds, section bars get general and local curvatures, to correct which, leveling at roller leveling machines (RLM) is used. Calculation of leveling parameters of section bars at RLM is based on hypothesis of isotropy and homogeneity of the deformed metal. Besides the calculation is based also on assumptions of a linear distribution of penetration coefficient of plastic deformation along the rolled product thickness at alternating bending, point character of roller and rolled product surface contact, vertical direction of leveling force for all rollers of RLM. Application of those hypothesizes considerably deteriorates the accuracy of technological parameters calculation for rolling and leveling operations. A mathematical model presented for leveling parameters of section bars at RLM calculation. The novelty of the model is an accurate determination of the border between elastic and plastic zone Z0, which is accomplished by an iterative method. The information about exact value of Z0 is necessary for calculation of stress distribution along the piece section, as well as sag and curvature calculation after the leveling. In traditional models the Z0 value is determined approximately and does not meet the today’s requirements. Stress distribution diagrams along the rolled product section at bending under RLM rollers presented for rectangular, square, channel, Z-section profiles of rolled products, as well as for I-beam and rail, necessary for calculation of residual stresses. The comparison was done of P65 rail sag in the plane of maximum rigidity at the six-roller RLM of Kuznetsk steel-works and their value, obtained by the mathematical model application. The discrepancy between actual and calculated data is only 4.5%, which speaks about conformity of the elaborated mathematical model.

Résumé :
In a flow forming process of automobile wheels of Al-based alloys, plastic deformation of the rim part is performed by rollers from the periphery side, while the inner periphery is fixed on a steel mandrel and is slightly deformed. Therefore, the rim part has a strain-graded microstructure in the thickness direction. In this study, the effects of the strain-graded plastic deformation on mechanical properties of an Al-Si cast alloy have been investigated. The strain-graded plastic deformation in this study was done by hot rolling of an Al alloy plate together with a steel plate. The two plates were joined at one end in the longitudinal direction and were rolled from the joined edge at 330 oC using a roller with a roll diameter of 200 mm and a rotation speed of 66 per minute. The chemical composition of the alloy was Al-7mass%Si-0.3mass%Mg-0.3mass%Fe. The rolled Al alloy plate had a strain-graded microstructure in the thickness direction; the strain was the highest at the roller side surface and the lowest at the steel plate side surface. The rolling also brought about a Si particle size graded microstructure. The eutectic Si rods were broken by the rolling deformation and the Si particle size was the smallest at the roller side surface and the largest at the steel plate side surface. On the other hand, a normal rolling deformation of the Al alloy plate without the steel plate was also performed for comparison. The rolled sample having the strain-graded and Si particle size graded microstructure exhibited much more excellent bending strength and ductility compared with the normally rolled sample.

Résumé :
Rewinding machines are used in the paper converting industrial sector to unroll paper veils from large source reels and wind them around smaller rolls, for the production of paper logs to be used in household activities. Many different types of rewinding machine exist, and they are mostly based on stapling devices which automatically unroll a large coil of paper, roll it up around a new log, stop the veil allowing it to be torn off, unload the completed paper log, and reload a new paper core to be rolled up. Winding units generally include a primary and a secondary roller, supplying the desired rotational speed for winding, and a pressure unit consisting of a pressure roller in contact with the paper log being rolled up, which assures adequate containment and avoids the paper log to escape. All known systems have some mechanical limitations, mainly due to the contact of the pressure roller with the paper log, causing instabilities and vibrations, particularly when working with soft paper veils. This limits the maximum possible winding speed. The aim of this paper is it to present a detailed kinematic analysis of a novel pressure unit which overcomes the aforementioned limitation.

Résumé :
Abstract This study evaluated the effect of processing method and severity of hybrid fall rye on dry matter intake (DMI), ruminal fermentation, and apparent total tract nutrient digestibility for beef cattle. Ruminally cannulated Simmental heifers (n = 8; 327±33 kg) were used in a replicated 4×4 Latin square (21-d periods) balanced for carry-over effects with a 2×2 factorial treatment. Tempered rye [water added to achieve 80% dry matter (DM)] was compared with dry-rolled rye. Roller gap width of 1.23-mm and 0.8-mm were used for coarse and finely processed rye, respectively. This resulted in processing index values of: 80.9% for dry-rolled and coarse; 72.7% for dry-rolled and fine; 92.9% for tempered and coarse; and 88.2% for tempered and fine processed rye. Diets (DM basis) included hybrid rye grain (86%), barley silage (15%), mineral (6%), and dry distillers’ grain plus solubles (3%). Feeding tempered rye increased (P< 0.01) DMI by 0.87 kg compared with dry-rolled rye, and feeding coarse rye increased (P=0.04) DMI by 0.33 kg compared with fine rye. Cattle fed dry-rolled and finely processed rye had greater (P< 0.04) area that pH was < 5.5 compared with tempered and coarse rye, respectively. Ruminal short-chain fatty acid concentrations and ammonia were not affected (P≥0.12). Feeding dry-rolled rye increased DM digestibility by 2.4% (P=0.02), and crude protein digestibility in 3.0% (P=0.01) compared with tempered rye. Starch digestibility was not affected by processing severity of dry-rolled rye, but increased from 92.8 to 95.9% for tempered rye with increasing severity (interaction, P=0.03). Rolling tempered rye at the same roller gap as dry-rolled rye decreases processing severity but may allow for a greater severity of processing without marked reductions in DMI and ruminal pH, while achieving similar total tract starch digestibility. When increasing processing severity (81 vs. 73%), dry-rolling hybrid rye may reduce DMI and ruminal pH.

Résumé :
Abstract. The purpose of the study is to develop an automated system for technical diagnostics of the state and regu-lation of the electric drive of the rollers of the collector roller table at a wide hot rolling mill based on change in the load currents of the rollers electric motors. The system allows the quality of finished rolled products and the produc-tivity of the mill to be enhanced due to the timely detection of faulty equipment and its rapid replacement based on the results of diagnostics. The following methods of diagnostics of the electric drive of the diverting roller table and its possible malfunctions which can negatively affect the quality of the finished rolled products were analyzed: experimental identification of the relation of the forms of change in the load currents of the electric motors of the rollers with specific types of malfunctions; determination of diagnostic signs of malfunctions in the values of change in the load currents of the electric motors of the rollers; creation of a mathematical model for calculating the forces of strip transportation; develop-ment of methods and algorithms for technical diagnostics of the electric drive of the collector roller table based on charac-teristics of change in the load currents of the electric motors of the rollers; development of a generalized algorithm for the operation of the automated technical diagnostics system; experimental evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed methods and algorithms for diagnostics on the operating mill. Analytical methods of solving algebraic and differential equations and systems were used in the study. As a result of the research, the technical effectiveness of the methods and algorithms developed to diagnose the eccentricity of the roller barrel of the diverting roller table, malfunctioning of the brush-collector device of the roller electric motor, the destruction of the couplings in the roller electric drive line, malfunc-tioning of the bearing units in the roller electric drive line or the roller sides, the correct alignment of the roller relative to the technological plane of the diverting roller was experimentally confirmed. The diagnostic methods and algorithms de-veloped can be used to create diagnostic systems for electric drives of diverting roller table at operating mills during their reconstruction, as well as at newly built mills. The system thus developed was installed at the industrial plant's 2000 hot rolling mill.

Résumé :
This paper summarizes measurements of starting torque and motion of the rollers in a roller bearing during start-up at a temperature of − 30°C. The bearing was lubricated with three different greases and the tests were carried out after a running-in procedure at + 20 °C. The results were compared with measurements obtained at +20°C and with results from one base oil at +20°C. A model for the roller motion was also built and simulations of the roller motion were compared with the measurements. Independent of temperature and lubricant the rollers rolled in the loaded zone and slipped, more or less, in the unloaded zone. The degree of sliding in the unloaded zone was found to be governed mainly by the local lubricant distribution and the position of the roller in the cage pocket. Some differences are also seen in the slide-roll ratio between the lubricants. A roller diameter difference of 1.3 pm gave a significant difference in roller motion, with the slightly thinner roller slides more in the unloaded zone of the bearing.

Résumé :
Comparative experiments on the ordinary steel fiber recycled concrete (SFRC) and roller compacted SFRC were carried out to research the fracture properties of roller compacted SFRC. The results show that compressive strength, fracture toughness and fracture energy of roller compacted SFRC increase with the increase of fiber volume fraction. Compressive strength increase with the increase of recycled aggregate replacement rate and fracture toughness decrease, however, Crack tip opening displacement has little changes and fracture energy features fluctuation with the replacement ratio of recycled coarse aggregates increasing. The rolled formed layers have significant influence on the fracture properties of SFRC. The fracture toughness of roller compacted SFRC is generally lower than ordinary SFRC and compressive strength is higher than ordinary steel fiber concrete for the same aggregate replacement ratio and fiber volume fraction. Fracture energy of roller compacted SFRC is higher than ordinary SFRC for the higher steel fiber volume ratio.

The rolling texture and its distribution along thickness direction in the Al alloy 6111 sheet cold rolled by synchronous Rolling and asynchronous rolling have been investigated with orientation distribution functions. The results show that the texture distribution is asymmetric on both sides of center layer of the sheet after cross shear rolling. The orientation densities of the main texture compounds on the slow roller side are higher, but are lower on the fast rolled side. The asymmetry of the texture distribution increases with improving the velocity ratio of asynchronous rolling.

Nowadays, the high chrome steel for roller is increasingly widely used in cold-rolled industry. The microstructure of rollers under forged annealed state has a significant influence on its final mechanical properties. This paper investigates the annealed microstructure of a new high chrome steel for roller, using methods of SEMDESXRD and hardness tests. The results show that the spheroidizing annealed high chromium steel is constitutive of ferrite and globular cementite, and the microstructure is relatively reasonable. But there are disadvantage characters such as small holes in the vicinity of the grain boundary, and residual lamellar pearlite exists in local area. In this paper, generation mechanisms of these characters are explained, and prevention methods are given for the weakness of the high chorme steel for roller.

Résumé :
Local mechanical tensioning is one of the most efficient and industrially relevant stress engineering techniques to modify weld residual stress field and subsequently reduce buckling distortion. However, application of rolling load and its magnitude need to be optimised for an energy efficient rolling process. In the present study gas metal arc butt welded plates of low carbon mild steel were rolled by a dual roller in different rolling configuration (top and reverse side rolling) and with different magnitude of rolling load. All the plates were rolled post welding. Residual strain profiles of the post weld rolled plates were measured, using the SALSA strain scanner, and the in-plane stress were characterized. Average distortion of the rolled plates was correlated with the residual stress. Reverse rolling was found to be more effective in removing distortion while the stress profiles did not show any significant reduction of the peak stress.

The article is devoted to the problem of ensuring the accuracy of manufacturing parts by sheet metal V-bending. An example of using bending in the manufacture of a roller conveyor part is shown. Manufacturing inaccuracy occur due to the deviation of the sheet thickness from its nominal value. A method for determining the maximum inaccuracy of the linear dimensions of the bend depending on the maximum deviation in the thickness of the sheet, based on the difference in the length of the plain workpiece at the nominal and actual values of the sheet thickness, is given. The calculation of the inaccuracy of linear bending dimensions for cold-rolled sheets of normal accuracy BT and hot-rolled sheets of normal accuracy B with a width of 1 to 1.5 m and a thickness of 1 to 15 mm is given. It is shown that the accuracy of each bend for cold-rolled sheets is within ±0.18...±0.38 mm; the accuracy of hot-rolled sheets is ±0.35...+1.32/-0.58 mm.

Résumé :
The results of theoretical and experimental studies of the surface of the sample of steel 45 after surface plastic deformation (SPD) with multi-radius roller (MR-roller) is shown. The goal of this study is to expand the technological capabilities of the method of SPD through the use of a new design of the deforming tool developed at the Department of Engineering Technology of KuzSTU. The advantage of the MR-roller (Patent RU № 2557377) over the traditional tool for SPD (single-radius roller) is the possibility of creating a large hydrostatic pressure in the deformation zone, without destroying the surface layer of the processed material. The research technique included finite element modeling (FEM), microhardness measurement, metallographic studies of the sample structure. As a result of the study, some regularities of the process of hardening by a multi-radius tool with high hydrostatic pressure and a large number of quasi-monotonic deformation sites were revealed. The results indicate a significant hardening without metal destruction and the formation of nanoscale grains, which allows to improve the properties of rolled products in the application of high operating loads.

Thermal regulation is based on the ability of metals to change their -geometric dimensions and volume when temperature changes. This type of regulation can be either external or internal and is carried out in relation to the working tool or the material being processed. The type of control under consideration is inertial and can be used for the ¬finishing group of the mill. The advantage of this method is the ability to influence ¬asymmetrical flatness defects during the rolling process. The use of forced cooling systems for rolled strips, which include interstand cooling (ISC) in the finishing group of stands and accelerated cooling on the outgoing roller table, can increase the productivity of mills and improve the consumer properties of hot-rolled strips.

Résumé :
Termination of cover crops prior to no-till planting of soybean is typically accomplished with burndown herbicides. Recent advances in cover-crop roller–crimper design offer the possibility of reliable physical termination of cover crops without tillage. A field study within a no-till soybean production system was conducted in Urbana, IL, from 2004 through 2007 to quantify the effects of cover crop (cereal rye, hairy vetch, or bare soil control), termination method (chemical burndown or roller–crimper), and postemergence glyphosate application rate (0, 1.1, or 2.2 kg ae ha−1) on soybean yield components, weed–crop interference, and soil environmental variables. Biomass of weeds surviving management within a soybean crop following either a vetch or rye cover crop was reduced by 26 and 56%, respectively, in the rolled system compared to the burndown system. Soybean yield loss due to weed interference was unaffected by cover-crop termination method in soybean following a rye cover crop, but was higher in the rolled than burndown treatment in both hairy vetch and bare soil treatments. In soybean following a rye cover crop, regardless of termination method, yield loss to weed interference was unaffected by glyphosate rate, whereas in soybean following a vetch cover crop or bare soil, yield loss decreased with glyphosate rate. Variation in soybean yield among cover crops and cover-crop termination treatments was due largely to differences in soybean establishment, rather than differences in the soil environment. Use of a roller–crimper to terminate a cover crop preceding no-till soybean has the potential to achieve similar yields to those obtained in a chemically terminated cover crop while reducing residual weed biomass.

Résumé :
Abstract. Cover crops have been recognized as a vital part of conservation agriculture, but they need to be managed appropriately to avoid planting problems related to the large amounts of biomass. Typically, cover crops are rolled in the same direction as the travel direction of the planter, but producers have been inquiring if other rolling directions are also effective. To answer this question, replicated field experiments (split-plot design) were conducted at two locations in Alabama during three growing seasons to evaluate different rolling directions of a cereal rye cover crop, i.e., non-rolled (standing rye), 0° (cotton planting direction), 180° (opposite of planting direction), 15° (offset from 0°), and 195° (15° offset from 180°), using a roller/crimper. A no-till cotton planter with different row cleaners, i.e., a commercially available row cleaner (Dawn with coulter), a residue pusher with and without a coulter, and no row cleaner (control), was used to determine the effects of rolling direction and row cleaners on cotton population, emergence rate, and yield. The rye cover crop was terminated with a roller/crimper and glyphosate. Among growing seasons, significant differences existed in rye production, cotton population, emergence rate index (ERI), seed cotton yield, amount of residue accumulated on the planter, and the time required to remove residue from the planter. For the rolling direction treatments, higher cotton population was found for 0° and non-rolled rye, and the lowest population was found with 195°. The ERI was higher for 0° and non-rolled rye, and the lowest ERI was observed for 195°. For the row cleaner treatments, the cotton population and ERI were both higher for Dawn with coulter and pusher with coulter. Across three growing seasons, cotton yield was not affected by rolling direction but was affected by row cleaner. Significantly higher cotton yield was associated with Dawn with coulter and pusher with or without coulter, compared to lower yield for no row cleaner. The important findings were that residue accumulation was not problematic when the cover crop was rolled. When the cover crop was not rolled, the pusher accumulated more residue than Dawn with coulter; however, the time required to remove the residue was more than 3 times higher for Dawn with coulter as compared to the pusher. The data indicated that, across all growing seasons and locations, rolling direction and row cleaner affected the cotton population, ERI, residue accumulation on the planter, and the time required to remove residue. In contrast, rolling direction did not affect seed cotton yield, but row cleaner had an effect on seed cotton yield. Based on the results, the best combination of rolling direction and row cleaner was 15° offset to the cotton planting direction and Dawn with coulter, which resulted in higher cotton population, ERI, and seed cotton yield without residue accumulation on the row cleaner. However, the 0° and 180° Dawn with coulter and 15° pusher with coulter combinations were also effective in producing relatively higher cotton population, ERI, and seed cotton yield. Keywords: Conservation system, Cotton yield, Emergence, Plant population, Residue pusher, Roller/crimper, Rolling direction, Row cleaner, Rye cover crop.

The effect of temperature on the recrystallization texture and microstructure of non-oriented silicon steel under asymmetrically rolling condition was quantatively studied using X-ray diffraction technology. The results show that the texture component accumulates around {111}<112> when annealed at 800°C. Texture intensity is high and grain size is uniformly distributed between 50μm and 100μm with best magnetism. When annealed at 850°C and 900°C, texture component is scattered and the grain size is also bigger. However, for the annealing at 750°C, the texture component is similar to cold rolled process. The grain size is small and non-uniform, which is unfavorable to magnetism. The difference of forces along the fast and slow side of the roller results in different deformation texture and further affects the intensity of recrystallization texture along the two sides of the roller.

Abstract. Problem. World experience shows that high operational performance of road coverings in the conditions of intensive traffic with high speeds of motor transport and sharp braking are provided by introduction of cement concrete. One of the effective solutions for the construction of high-quality, dura-ble, economical pavements is the use of roller-compacted concrete - a no slump concrete with low water-cement ratio, that is placed by an asphalt pav-er similar to asphalt pavement construction. The design of quality mixtures of roller-compacted con-crete is based on performance, construction require-ments and economic efficiency. Goal. The purpose of the work is design the compositions of roller com-pacted concrete and investigation of their strength. Methodology. Roller compacted concrete samples were tested for compressive strength and tensile bending in accordance with DSTU B B.2.7-214:2009. Results. The four variants of mixtures are designed to select the optimal composition of roller compacted cement concrete. The first of one is based on the particle size distribution of aggregate grains in ac-cordance with DSTU B B.2.7-127:2015, the second variant shows the composition of normal-weight cement concrete class C25/30, the third variant is characterized by increased sand fraction and in the fourth composition fine fractions replaced with sand. Road rolled concrete С32/40 Bb b5.2 is designed. Originality. Roller compacted cement concrete for effective road construction technologies is designed, which allows to perform the installation of high per-formance cement-concrete pavement with the use of asphalt pavers and rollers and the possibility of rap-id commissioning of cement-concrete pavement. Practical value. Designed composition of roller compacted concrete with the use of local Ukrainian materials allow to ensure the construction of cost-effective, durable road pavement with the possibility to carry out the movement on the cement concrete pavement after 1-3 days.

Résumé :
In the southern U.S., rollers/crimpers are used to terminate cover crops approximately 3 weeks before planting cotton when the cover crop reaches > 90% termination. When spring is wet or cold, the 3-week period is reduced to keep recommended planting dates. A 3-year experiment was initiated in Alabama to determine the effectiveness of a 4-stage roller/crimper in increasing termination rates for cereal rye compared to 2-stage and spiral rollers/crimpers in rolling 1, 2, and 3 times over rye along with a single-pass smooth roller with glyphosate application. Effects of rye termination at 7, 14, and 21 days after rolling were assessed as were the effects on soil water conservation, cotton population, and yield. Seven days after rolling, the 4-stage, 2-stage, and spiral rollers rolling 3 times generated 96, 92, and 81% termination, respectively. Termination with the smooth roller with glyphosate was 94% and the control (no rolling) was 37%. At 14 days, termination among rollers was 91 to 98% and at 21 days no differences were found among rollers (99-100%). The 4-stage roller 3 times had the highest average soil volumetric water content (VWC) of 16.1%, whereas the spiral roller 1 time had the lowest (13.6%). Rolled rye had higher VWC content averaging 14.7% (12-cm surface layer) compared to the control (12.7%). Rolling treatments affected cotton emergence only in 2015; cotton population and yield were not affected. Seven days after rolling, the 4-stage and 2-stage roller/crimpers exceeded 90% rye termination making earlier cotton planting possible if required by climatic conditions.

Résumé :
Biyolojik cinsiyet olan kadın ve erkek dışında toplumun biçtiği toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri toplumu şekillendirmektedir. Toplumsal cinsiyet çok katmanlı bir yapıdır. Toplumsal roller ailede başlar, sosyal hayatta devam eder.

Seamless flatness rollers are the core equipment for cold-rolled strip flatness detection. The change in wear resistance of the roller surface-strengthened layer has important guiding significance for the prediction of the roller surface life. The experimental results of the five rounds of friction and wear testing show that the volume–wear rate of the original roller surface is only 1.85 × 10−6 mm3 (N·M)−1. After the first grinding, the wear resistance of the roller surface decreased and the wear rate was approximately 2.76 × 10−6 mm3 (N·M)−1. After the second grinding, the wear morphology, wear rate and wear resistance of the samples in each round showed little difference. The average wear rate in the last three rounds of the test is 3.56 × 10−6 mm3 (N·M)−1 and the wear resistance is significantly lower than that of the previous two rounds of the test. The calculation shows that the original surface wear resistance is 32.92% higher than that of the surface after the first grinding, and the average wear resistance of the surface after the first grinding is 22.59% higher than that of the surface after the second, third and fourth grinding. With long-term use and repeated grinding repair, the roller surface will show a trend of wear resistance decline. When the wear resistance decreases to a certain degree, it will reach a stage of stability. These phenomena provide regular and quantitative references for the study of the life prediction of flatness meter rollers.

Résumé :
Aiming at the problem that temperature filed changes can lead to edge cracks emerge to Al-Si alloy 4004 in the process of hot rolling, in this paper, finite element model of temperature field variations in the process of rolling have been established by the method of finite element numerical simulation. The relationship between temperature field variations and edge crack defects has been analyzed. The results show that temperature field of rolled piece is gradient variations, low in the center and high in the edge, metal accumulation in the edge, leading to stress concentration and forming cracks source, resulting in edge cracks arising in edge of roller piece. Finally, the reliability and accuracy of the numerical simulation method have been verified by hot-rolled tests and tensile tests. All the studies provide ideas for theoretical analysis of temperature variation during hot rolling and have important significance on improve the quality of products.

Résumé :
The design of MRS-1 thresher was developed in the mechanization department of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (Krasnodar). It is designed for threshing individual soybean plants, primary cleaning of seeds on the screen separator from fruit hulls and unthreshed beans, separation of unthreshed beans form fruit hulls by air in the air separator and collection of seeds of each individually threshed plant in the unloading container. The results of the laboratory research on the MRS-1 thresher give evidence that at threshing of beans in two stages the pre-threshing is performed by a rubber roller with an optimal rotational speed ranging from 25-30 Hz in a first-stage dehuller with a spring-loaded deck and final threshing in a second-stage dehuller by passing the beans with a toothed conveyor belt through a second-stage dehuller with a spring-loaded toothed roller, the optimal rotational speed of the latter varies between 18-21 Hz and that of the second-stage dehuller roller – between 23-25 Hz, while control of the threshing process is performed by a control roller rotating in the rotational direction and at the frequency of the second-stage dehuller rolled with circumferential speed 50% lower than that of the second-stage dehuller roller. The developed design of the thresher for the individual soybean plants enables complete threshing of beans with a minimum seed injury of no more than 1%, which ensures a gentle, crumbling principle of opening the beans and the seeds are getting into the unloading container without the vegetative mass of a plant.
