Résumé :
Processing of analog photogrammetric negatives using current methods brings new challenges and possibilities, for example, creation of a 3D model from archival images which enables the comparison of historical state and current state of cultural heritage objects. The main purpose of this paper is to present possibilities of processing archival analog images captured by photogrammetric camera Rollei 6006 metric. In 1994, the Czech company EuroGV s.r.o. carried out photogrammetric measurements of former limestone quarry the Great America located in the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic. All the negatives of photogrammetric images, complete documentation, coordinates of geodetically measured ground control points, calibration reports and external orientation of images calculated in the Combined Adjustment Program are preserved and were available for the current processing. Negatives of images were scanned and processed using structure from motion method (SfM). The result of the research is a statement of what accuracy is possible to expect from the proposed methodology using Rollei metric images originally obtained for terrestrial intersection photogrammetry while adhering to the proposed methodology.

Résumé :
SfM processing of archived analogue images gives an opportunity to efficiently create new and valuable 2D and 3D results. The SfM processing of digitized analogue images brings some challenges. How to digitize negatives of photogrammetric images? What scanning resolution is the most beneficial for processing? How to preprocess the digitized images to be able to process them using the SfM method? What accuracy of results is possible to expect? This paper tries to deal with all these questions. For this paper, 7 negatives of former photogrammetric documentation of a vault were chosen. The negatives were captured by Rollei 3003 metric camera in 1999. Two pieces of software were chosen for the SfM processing. A commercial alternative Agisoft PhotoScan and free open-source alternative MicMac. The results of the SfM processing were compared to the results of an original photogrammetric method, which was used for former processing in 1999.

Résumé :
Barley grain samples were dry-rolled using two different methods; multiple roller settings (MRS) vs. single roller setting (SRS). In the MRS method, samples were first separated through 4-, 6-, and 7-mm sieves and then dry-rolled with roller gap settings of 1.000, 1.194, and 1.487 mm, respectively. In the SRS method, samples were dry-rolled using a single roller gap setting of 1.194 mm. The MRS method increased in situ rate of starch disappearance (18.6 vs. 11.9% h-1; P < 0.01) compared with the SRS method. Screening to specific kernel sizes and adjusting roller settings accordingly could enhance the starch utilization of barley grain by ruminants.

Résumé :
In multi-wire flat rolling process, the error of the rolled wires in thickness was due to the roller deflection and the spring back of the rolled wire. In order to control the dimension accuracy, to know the quantity of thickness error precisely is very important. In this study, the DEFORM-3D finite element analysis software was used to simulate the multi-wire flat rolling process with the elastic-plastic deformation model, supposed the rollers as elastic body and the wires as elastic-plastic body through the rolling process. From the computer simulation results, it can be found that, the deflection of roller has the biggest effect on the dimension accuracy of wire. To control the deflection value of roller, besides roller material and the roller length, the choice of roller diameter is also very important.

Résumé :
AbstractRollers crimpers have been used in conservation agriculture to terminate cover crops; however, excessive vibration generated by the original straight-bar roller design has delayed adoption of this technology in the United States. To avoid excessive vibration, producers generally reduce operating speeds that increase the time needed to perform the field operation. The objectives of this research were to identify roller crimper designs that terminated rye cover crops consistently, resulted in soil moisture conservation after use, and minimized vibrations when operated in the field. Six different roller types were developed and tested at 3.2 and 6.4 km h−1 in Alabama field experiments during the 2006, 2007 and 2008 growing seasons. All roller types were used alone and one also in combination with glyphosate. Rye mortalities were evaluated 1, 2 and 3 weeks after rolling and compared with the check (non-rolled standing rye). Soil volumetric moisture content (VMC) was measured at the day of rolling, and then at 1, 2 and 3 weeks after rolling. Vibration was measured on the rollers' and tractor's frames during operation. Mortality for rolled rye 2 weeks after rolling was at least 98% compared with 96% for the check in 2006, 93% for rolling compared with 75% for the check in 2007, and 94% for rolling compared with 60% for the check in 2008 (P<0.10). There were no consistent differences in rye mortality across roller types (without glyphosate) and speeds. VMC for soil in non-rolled rye plots was consistently lower than in rolled rye plots, averaging 3% compared with 7% 2 weeks after rolling in 2006, and 4% compared with 8% in 2008. During 2007, VMC was affected by severe drought conditions, and differences between roller treatments were detected but minor. The straight-bar roller generated the highest vibration on the tractor's frame at 6.4 km h−1 (0.71 m s−2, RMS), which exceeded International Standards (International Standard Office (ISO)). At 6.4 km h−1, new roller designs generated significantly lower acceleration levels from 0.12 to 0.32 m s−2 on the tractor's frame and were below detrimental effects on health ‘health limits’ classified by ISO. Overall, 2 weeks after rolling, all roller designs effectively terminated rye above 90%, which is the recommended termination level of rye to plant a cash crop into residue mat, while protecting soil surface from water loss. New roller designs generate less vibration than the original design and can be used safely at higher operating speeds.

Roller quench is a rapid cooling technique used in strip continuous heat-treatment process, which is one of the most important processes in producing cold-rolled strip steel. Heat transports by contact heat transfer in roller quench, for the complex characteristics of contact heat transfer, roller quench is very difficulty to simulate. In this paper a roller quench heat transfer model is build based on Fourier-Kirchhoff differential equations. A new correlation function of contact conductance is developed from statistical mechanics model results by least square method. This correlation function solves the heat transfer boundary condition in contact region between strip and roller. In this model the contact radiation is also considered. The roller quench model predicts the heat transfer characteristics of roller quench. The model is useful for the designing and controlling of the roller quench system.

Profiling of rollers, apart from the means of inter-rollers gap control, determines the accuracy of rolled strip cross profile forming and their flatness. A number of articles is devoted to the items of rollers profiling modelling. Based on their study a task of development of strip mill rollers profiling modelling methodology formulated. The methodology based on working rollers generating lines building by geometric summarizing of grinding curves, curves of thermal profile and wear profile curves with elastic deformation curves and further elaboration of a perfected profiling of the 2100 mill roller system to provide the quality world level, characterized by δhпоп index. The elastic deformation curves defined by the finite elements method. Results of modelling of convexconcave CVC profiling of cold rolling mill working rollers quoted. The elaborated and adopted to implementation at the 4-high 2100 mill perfected CVC profiling of working rollers presented, which provides increase of accuracy of rolled strips cross profile forming. The solution based on the mathematical description of quarto roller system loading and deformation, accounting the convex-concave CVC rollers profiling and axes shifting of working rollers. Simulation of loads and elastic deformation of the PAO “Severstal” 4- high cold mill roller system accomplished by application of SIMULIA Abaqus program complex. Accounting symmetry of the task, only one roller half-set considered – the upper working and bearing rollers with CVC profiling. The barrel edge slope taken into consideration in the bearing roller model. Application of the new working rollers profiling will increase the efficiency of their axes shifting and hydro-bending during rolling of 900–1300 mm wide strips, which account the main share of the rolled metal at the mill, with the guaranteed provision of the strip cross crown, not exceeding 2% of the nominal thickness.

Résumé :
The final stage in the production of hot rolled steel is leveling on roller levellers under cyclic alternating deformation. When laser is cutting a sheet it may bend due to the release of residual stresses that are unevenly distributed over the volume. The majority of roller leveller models for calculating the process under cyclic alternating deformation does not provide an adequate assessment and prediction of residual stresses in a steel sheet. On the basis of finite element analysis, formation of residual stresses owing to roller levelling of hot rolled strip is disclosed. The implementation of a model of the levelling process was performed in SIMULIA Abaqus. Models are verificated by comparing forces under the rollers. We have experimentally confirmed the convergence of the simulation results with the measurements of the strip flatness obtained after sheets plasma cutting. It was found that after levelling, tensile longitudinal residual stresses remain on the upper surface of the sheet, compressive ones remain on the lower surface, stresses are zero in the middle in thickness, and the stress values are opposite in sign in the remaining parts of the section. It was established that the same parameters of the levelling process of different strength categories lead to different deviations of stresses. An increase in yield strength of the strip leads to an increase in the deviation of residual stresses along the strip thickness. The proposed method of simulation of roller levelling process should be used to study the stress-strain state of hot-rolled steel and to design improved strip levelling setting modes with minimal residual stress deviations.

Résumé :
A completely new design of a vibrating soil tillage roller was developed, as a result of which the quality of soil compaction was increased, while energy costs are reduced due to a decrease of metal consumption by at least 3 times in comparison with commercially available rollers. The vibrations created by the offered roller make it possible to destroy large soil fractions more effectively and ensure high-quality soil compaction. To determine suitable parameters of the soil-tilling roller, a set of studies was carried out in field conditions, by means of which suitable parameters of the proposed design of the vibrating roller were identified. Ballast weight and diameters of the pulleys on the shaft of the hollow cylinder were changed during the experiment, and the influence of these parameters on improvement criterion was also evaluated. Measurements of soil moisture, its density and structure were carried out in the course of the experiment. The experimental results were processed with modern software: Microsoft Excel, Statistica, etc. As a result of the experiment, it was revealed that the quality of soil compaction by the proposed vibrating roller is 24.7% better than that of KKZ-6 roller, which is widely used in agriculture. In this case, the improvement criterion kpl on the non-rolled section was 0.5, which is 82% lower than that of the proposed roller. The structure of the soil on the area rolled by the proposed roller fully meets the agrotechnical requirements. The proposed tillage roller of vibrating action is universal and can be used on different types of soils, provided that the ballast weight and the ratio of the pulley diameters on the axis of the hollow cylinder and on the smooth cylinder are regulated.

The purpose of this study was to create a wider understanding about how some junior ice-hockey players and their coach experience how the factors cohesion, player turnovers, roles and performance are interacting whit each other and how the team is working whit these factors. The instruments that were used were GEQ (Group Environment Questionnaire) and two whole-structured interview guides. The participants of this study were the ice hockey players of a J18-team (n=18) and their coach (n=1) in a club of average size in Sweden. The results showed that all the participants experienced a positive correlation between cohesion, player turnovers, role clarity and performance. The relationship however was described like a circle, that all the factors were depending on each other and were affected by each other. The player turnovers experienced as positive though it created competition and improved performance. Talents and interests represent the base of the formal roles. The players experienced clarity in their roles which led to both better cohesion and improved performance.

Present-day software systems have to fulfill an increasing number of requirements, which makes them more and more complex. Many systems need to anticipate changing contexts or need to adapt to changing business rules or requirements. The challenge of 21th-century software development will be to cope with these aspects. We believe that the role concept offers a simple way to adapt an object-oriented program to its changing context. In a role-based application, an object plays multiple roles during its lifetime. If the contexts are represented as first-class entities, they provide dynamic views to the object-oriented program, and if a context changes, the dynamic views can be switched easily, and the software system adapts automatically. However, the concepts of roles and dynamic contexts have been discussed for a long time in many areas of computer science. So far, their employment in an existing object-oriented language requires a specific runtime environment. Also, classical object-oriented languages and their runtime systems are not able to cope with essential role-specific features, such as true delegation or dynamic binding of roles. In addition to that, contexts and views seem to be important in software development. The traditional code-oriented approach to software engineering becomes less and less satisfactory. The support for multiple views of a software system scales much better to the needs of todays systems. However, it relies on programming languages to provide roles for the construction of views. As a solution, this thesis presents an implementation pattern for role-playing objects that does not require a specific runtime system, the SCala ROles Language (SCROLL). Via this library approach, roles are embedded in a statically typed base language as dynamically evolving objects. The approach is pure in the sense that there is no need for an additional compiler or tooling. The implementation pattern is demonstrated on the basis of the Scala language. As technical support from Scala, the pattern requires dynamic mixins, compiler-translated function calls, and implicit conversions. The details how roles are implemented are hidden in a Scala library and therefore transparent to SCROLL programmers. The SCROLL library supports roles embedded in structured contexts. Additionally, a four-dimensional, context-aware dispatch at runtime is presented. It overcomes the subtle ambiguities introduced with the rich semantics of role-playing objects. SCROLL is written in Scala, which blends a modern object-oriented with a functional programming language. The size of the library is below 1400 lines of code so that it can be considered to have minimalistic design and to be easy to maintain. Our approach solves several practical problems arising in the area of dynamical extensibility and adaptation.

The aim is to try to highlight how children with other develop social skills and how to further motivate children tosee, understand and manage their reality in role-play by highlighting the characteristics of afunctioning role-play. I would also highlight the importance of pedagogue´s role in relation tochildren's social skills in role-play. The purpose flows into these issues, what distinguishes afunctioning role-play? Can the children in role-play influence their thinking to developunderstanding of others and the environment and if so, how? What significance does pedagogue´s role in children's role-play? I used out of a qualitative methodology to carry out this investigation. I chose to gather information for my study using a passive monitoring method, which i wrote down in detail the children's verbal and physical communication of the role-play, and even pedagogens relation to children's role-play. The results show that children in role-play are playing with others and use play signals and playrules in order to develop therole-play and social skills. This means that the language of both the physical and the verbalplay an essential role for the understanding of these elements. Playsignals is an understandingof what is real and not, by using movement, gestures and facial expressions, but it is noteveryone who understands the signals. To develop a successful game also requires thatchildren in role-play relate to playrules. These are reciprocity, consensus and take turns. There are other factors that affect social skills and characteristics of a functioning role-play. Examples of these are creativity and imagination. The result also shows how the teacher influences on children's role-play in different ways when they integrates in role-play, and also play materila in preschool affects children's play.

Résumé :
The fabrication of Optical Elements began as an Art rather than a Science and has tended to remain so throughout its history. With demands of high quantity and quality, the fabrication procedures are under constant standardisation to approve upon yet cost-effective material, machinery and manpower. Rollei Singapore (Pte) Ltd. (RS), a subsidiary of Rollei, Franke & Heidecke, West Germany, has grown into a mass manufacturer of high precision optical, optomechanical and photographic components/equipment in Singapore since 1970 with the majority of designs licensed by Carl Zeiss, West Germany. The author projects Singapore's industrial structure and economic policies. He spot-lights RS for history, general policies, scope, spread and its versatility in a first generation manufacturing base. The effect of major features, to that effect, viz., machinery and equipment used, technologies applied and control techniques observed are dilated. Particular stress is laid on applied modem cost-effective techniques of manufacturing processes ensuring reproduceability and reliability through the State of Art.

Résumé :
Abstract A focus of the U.S. Department of Energy is to improve production yield and reduce the cost of Low Enriched Uranium (LEU)-molybdenum alloy (U-10Mo) monolithic fuel plates that will be replacing High Enriched Uranium (HEU) oxide dispersion fuels used currently in the United States High Performance Research Reactors (USHPRR). One area of improvement is lowering the transverse waviness and longitudinal waviness that can be present within the cold rolled foils following rolling operations. Traditional rolling manufacturing techniques for other metal foils use winders to pull and straighten the foil as it is rolled back and forth to the final thickness. This approach cannot be used to roll thin U-10Mo foils (0.008–0.025″ thick) because only small castings can be rolled due to nuclear criticality safety concerns. As a result, the fuel foils are too short (∼1–2 m in length) to use traditional winders. Therefore, it is crucial to identify other rolling parameters (i.e., roller friction, axial tension load, roller diameter, and roll pass reduction percent) that might reduce transverse waviness and longitudinal waviness in the rolled fuel foil and develop a high-yield, low-cost multi-pass rolling manufacturing process. This report documents a systematic finite element modeling study to investigate the effects of numerous rolling parameters to reduce resulting transverse waviness and longitudinal waviness in the fuel foil during multi-pass rolling of U-10Mo foils. The rolling of a U-10Mo plate with initial dimensions of 1″ × 1″ × 0.048″ is modeled using Abaqus CAE. This rolling is modeled to undergo eight 20% reduction roll passes to a final fuel foil thickness of 0.01″. The elastic-plastic constitutive model of the U-10Mo alloy was input to the fuel foil rolling model. The rollers were modeled as rigid bodies. A comparison of rolling friction coefficients of 0.3 and 0.7 over a wide range of applied axial tension loads were investigated in order to evaluate the effect of using a lubricant during rolling. The effect of roller diameter on the resulting transverse waviness and longitudinal waviness of the fuel foil over a wide range of axial tension loads were also investigated by modeling rollers 7/8″ and 3.75″ in diameter. The results of this systematic finite element method study will aid manufacturers in producing low transverse waviness and reduced longitudinal waviness in U-10Mo fuel foils.

Résumé :
Dynamic rolling instability known as fifth-octave chatter is studied using a nonlinear model developed to describe the responses of work rolls subjected to the exertion of sheet forces of various spectral characteristics. The model enables the dynamic instability of sheet rolling to be correlated with work roll stiffiness, rolling speed, inter-stand tension, roll-bite entry and exit thickness, and the sheet force resulted from the interactive action of the work roll with the plastic deformation of the rolled strip. It is found that roll-bit elastic-plastic deformation sheet force is nonlinearly coupled with the rollstack stiffness and also plays a dominant role in affecting rolling instability. In addition, whenever the frequency spectrum of the normal sheet forces containing spectral components that match the fundamental modes of the roll stand, resonance-like beating would occur. This highly linear physical phenomenon, which is accompanied by large vibration amplitudes in the active work rolls, is recognized as chatter. Although many different dynamic modes of instability including mode excitation and beating are induced in response to sheet forces of nonlinear and non-stationary in nature, however, the rolling system never responds chaotically.

Résumé :
Abstract Belt loops supported by rollers commonly appear in xerographic type copying machines. Recently, rollers have been designed with special mechanical features employing a series of stacked annular discs mounted on a solid drive shaft. This configuration reduces the transverse forces acting on the belt due to edge guidance, and provides a method of belt control which eliminates the need for costly active belt steering servo systems. Rollers of this type are referred to as low lateral force (LLF) rollers. The addition of these lateral load inhibiting features necessitates that the rollers be carefully scrutinized for buckling and deformation, thereby ensuring accurate belt control for high quality xerographic copying. A parameterized finite element model of a LLF roll has been developed. The results acquired from the model are presented in dimensionless form in terms of the physical variables that describe the geometric parameters of the discs comprising the roller: thickness, inner and outer radii and belt contact angle. Dimensionless forms for the buckling belt tension and the circumferential and axial stiffnesses of the discs are also evaluated and displayed against the dimensionless geometric parameters, using contour plots for belt contact angles of 45°, 90°, 135° and 180°. These plots have been employed in practical design calculations for the sizing of LLF rolls.

Résumé :
To study the influence of non-isothermal deformation on microstructure, texture and mechanical properties, the CP Ti sheets were rolled to approximately 10% reduction per pass under a pair of rolls with different surface temperatures (i.e. non-isothermal rolled). The progress of recrystallization was enhanced with the increase of the difference in surface temperature between upper and lower rolls. When CP Ti sheets were non-isothermally rolled under the upper and lower rolls with surface temperatures of 210 and 120 °C, respectively, complete recrystallization occurred. Under such circumstances, it was found that the microstructure consists of equiaxed grains with the average size of 13μm and with mainly high-angle boundaries. Pyramidal <c+a> slip was the dominant deformation mechanism, and the elongation at room temperature was three times of that in the initial state. However, CP Ti sheets were rolled under a pair of roll with the same surface temperatures of 120 or 210 °C (i.e. isothermal rolled), recrystallization did not occur, and the microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of CP Ti isothermal rolling sheets were similar to those of conventional hot rolled CP Ti sheets.

Résumé :
As widely argued [HG97; Sat96], transitive roles play an important role in the adequate representation of aggregated objects: they allow these objects to be described by referring to their parts without specifying a level of decomposition. In [HG97], the Description Logic (DL) ALCHR+ is presented, which extends ALC with transitive roles and a role hierarchy. It is argued in [Sat98] that ALCHR+ is well-suited to the representation of aggregated objects in applications that require various part-whole relations to be distinguished, some of which are transitive. However, ALCHR+ allows neither the description of parts by means of the whole to which they belong, or vice versa. To overcome this limitation, we present the DL SHI which allows the use of, for example, has part as well as is part of. To achieve this, ALCHR+ was extended with inverse roles. It could be argued that, instead of defining yet another DL, one could make use of the results presented in [DL96] and use ALC extended with role expressions which include transitive closure and inverse operators. The reason for not proceeding like this is the fact that transitive roles can be implemented more efficiently than the transitive closure of roles (see [HG97]), although they lead to the same complexity class (ExpTime-hard) when added, together with role hierarchies, to ALC. Furthermore, it is still an open question whether the transitive closure of roles together with inverse roles necessitates the use of the cut rule [DM98], and this rule leads to an algorithm with very bad behaviour. We will present an algorithm for SHI without such a rule. Furthermore, we enrich the language with functional restrictions and, finally, with qualifying number restrictions. We give sound and complete decision proceduresfor the resulting logics that are derived from the initial algorithm for SHI. The structure of this report is as follows: In Section 2, we introduce the DL SI and present a tableaux algorithm for satisfiability (and subsumption) of SI-concepts—in another report [HST98] we prove that this algorithm can be refined to run in polynomial space. In Section 3 we add role hierarchies to SI and show how the algorithm can be modified to handle this extension appropriately. Please note that this logic, namely SHI, allows for the internalisation of general concept inclusion axioms, one of the most general form of terminological axioms. In Section 4 we augment SHI with functional restrictions and, using the so-called pairwise-blocking technique, the algorithm can be adapted to this extension as well. Finally, in Section 5, we show that standard techniques for handling qualifying number restrictions [HB91;BBH96] together with the techniques described in previous sections can be used to decide satisfiability and subsumption for SHIQ, namely ALC extended with transitive and inverse roles, role hierarchies, and qualifying number restrictions. Although Section 5 heavily depends on the previous sections, we have made it self-contained, i.e. it contains all necessary definitions and proofs from scratch, for a better readability. Building on the previous sections, Section 6 presents an algorithm that decides the satisfiability of SHIQ-ABoxes.
