Résumé :
The concept of regional urban designing is put forward on the foundation of the analysis of the background of modern city designing and the current particular situation of China. This paper contends that this concept combines the place, context and ecological designing, and is founded on the characteristics of time’s development and regional natural and historical resources. This paper also brings forward that the regional urban designing will become the tendency and direction of Chinese urban designing, and that in the regional urban designing. The design and regional characteristics should be combined, in-clouding combining the design and context, and combining the design and ecology.

Résumé :
In recent decades, The Netherlands has seen an increase in the use of regional design-led practices in national indicative planning. Despite this, the interrelations between design and planning decision making are not well understood, and attempts to involve the expertise and ambition of designers in planning have had unclear outcomes. This article elaborates on the role and position of regional design in indicative planning. It is argued that design in this realm resembles discretionary action, implying that design both influences, and is influenced by, prevailing planning rationales. An analytical framework is developed on these grounds and applied to a set of regional design initiatives that evolved in the context of Dutch national plans between 1988 and 2012. Significantly, the analysis reveals forms of discretional control that shape the creative design practice, of particular importance being the flexibility of planning guidance and the resulting room for interpretation. In theoretical terms, the article contributes to the discussion of how design – as an explorative search for solutions to problems in a particular spatial context – and design theory can contribute to an understanding of the multiple planning experiments emerging in this post-regulative era.

Résumé :
Purpose – This paper aims to examine how to support use of design in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by developing a new design support service. Design is emerging as one of the major themes of modern business development. However, most organisations – especially SMEs – view incorporating design as problematic. Design/methodology/approach – This paper presents the service development process as a case study and contributes to the discussions on service development projects realised in the Living Lab context and enhancing the use of design among SMEs. The project had two basic assumptions as a starting point: using design is beneficial for SMEs’ business and business advisors are the best channel for reaching these SMEs. The basics of service design process and several tools such as the service design blueprint, the business model canvas and problem interviews were utilised to develop a service concept and to test it among target SMEs. Findings – It is difficult to find SMEs that need design and are not yet served by the current regional or national service offerings. The findings demonstrate the importance of user involvement in the beginning of service design process. Research limitations/implications – Limited sample size may impact the generalisability of the results. Increasing the sample size of companies might provide new insights not yet discovered in this study. Originality/value – Policymakers can benefit from the insights on design support service development when designing new services for SMEs. Co-design processes that are elemental to the Living Lab approach could also benefit the development of public business-to-business (B2B) services.

Résumé :
This paper identifies innovative methods of strategic spatial design to demonstrate the sustainable outcomes that can be achieved by adopting landscape practices to future-proof our cities and regions. A range of strategic landscape-led models and methodologies are investigated to reveal the structure, administrative processes and key elements that have been adopted in order to facilitate the integration of climate change environmental design and landscape quality. We have found that a strong established framework that demonstrates innovative project management and early integration of environmental ideas is critical in order to be able to deliver landscape schemes that appropriately identify and address current climatic and social challenges. Furthermore, to make a real difference in the way that professional practice and politics deal with landscape infrastructure, the project framework and key concepts related to landscape design and planning, such as low carbon design and spatial quality, need to be clearly supported by legislation and policy at all levels. Together with close attention to the importance of design, this approach is more likely to ensure effective implementation and smooth communication during the development of a landscape scheme, leading to higher levels of sustainability and resilience in the future.

Résumé :
As the proposal of energy internet and intelligent energy, the utilization of energy and the energy categories has become more and more diverse. This paper redefines the concept of multi energy interconnection network, and divides local energy network, regional energy network and wide area energy network. In the planning and construction of energy interconnection network, the very important work is the optimal allocation of energy. In order to better allocate energy, we need to abide by specific principles, but there are few literatures on energy allocation principles. Taking the regional energy network as the research object, several principles of energy optimal allocation in the regional energy network are designed, and each principle is explained in detail. Finally, principles can provide reference for the planning and construction of regional men.

Résumé :
Regional historical culture is a special cultural system gradually formed after a long period of historical accumulation, which integrates regional cultural characteristics and spiritual connotations. Tourism cultural and creative products are high value-added industries in the tourism industry, and there is a lack of regional, historical and cultural element characteristics in some designs. Incorporating historical and cultural elements into the design of cultural and creative products, combining regional tourism resources with cultural and creative design, and imparting regional era characteristics to tourism projects, can promote the development of tourism, cultural and creative design industry and tourism economy. How to use regional historical and cultural elements in the design of tourism cultural and creative products has become an important research content of tourism cultural and creative product design. In this paper, the design of tourism cultural and creative products is the research content, using field research, questionnaire survey, analytic hierarchy and other methods, based on regional historical and cultural elements, to explore the design methods of tourism cultural and creative products.

For developing regional green building, it is very important to absorb the traditional architectural conception of energy conservation. Based on this, this article discusses a series of regional green building design strategies focusing on four aspects. First is responding to regional material, includes making use of local materials, modern renewal of traditional material, reuse of waste materials. Second is responding to regional natural climate, includes “closed insulation + solar energy use”, "ventilation + sunshade", "active ventilation + shade + activities insulation" and active utilization strategy. Third is responding to terrain elements, includes minimum of terrain environment damage and reduction of earthwork volume. Last is responding to regional culture, including expression of traditional materials, restructuring of traditional construction, modern interpretation of traditional regional.

Résumé :
Because studies of traditional regional creations neglected the main role and value of human, ignored daily goods for the service of ordinary people and the relevance with the nonmaterial culture resources such as folk literature, folk rituals, folk beliefs, regional design has turned into the imitating, patching and borrowing from traditional forms, styles and prototypes, and ultimately become an over-elaborated decorative display, and gone further and further away from the essence of life. Therefore, reconstruction of both the implicit and explicit knowledge systems of the regional cultural resources becomes necessary for the purpose of finding out the deep value of regional cultural creations. We should explore deep into the relationship system involving people, matter, place, time and meaning through events of culture and life to activate the value and meaning value of traditional regional creations in contemporary life and in accordance with the sense of belonging in cultures.
