Texte intégralThe present study investigates the classical roots of sociology in relation to the themes of contemporary social ontology. To tackle the problem of the relationship between contemporary sociology and social ontology, it was decided to move through a reconstruction of the classical sociological foundations of French tradition. Sociology has often focused on the problem of classical ontological divisions, wondering if these divisions need to be renewed or not. Beyond the individual perspective, a fact that emerges consistently in the literature is that social facts depend on representations and epistemic expectations: that is, they include epistemic components in their way of being. Therefore, what are social entities?

Texte intégralThis research arises from the following three main hypotheses: 1) Low and high-level cognitive processes are bound together; 2) Sensorimotor space is a subjective perception; and 3) Sensorimotor space varies as a function of different types of social behaviours. The thesis argues that sensorimotor space is shaped by both mere co-presence of another human body and cooperative or uncooperative interactions. Chapters l, Il, III aim at analyzing and explaining the meaning of the first, the second and the third hypothesis in order to advance the primary thesis. Chapter V opens up an ethical perspective about a possible bound between spatial perception and moral evaluations during social interactions. This work is enriched by several constitutive disciplines of cognitive sciences : conternporary philosophy, philosophy of mind, experimental neuropsychology and some topics studied by social psychology

Texte intégralAfter introducing the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR), this research work focuses on the benefits that committing to such a concept can bring to the enterprise, on the instruments to represent such a committment (sustainability report and integrated report), to analyze it (sustainable finance) and to measure it (ethical rating and ESG analysis). In addition to this, an empirical analysis on a sample of 50 European organizations is undertaken, investigating the respective sustainability reports, with the aim of pinpointing their strengths and weaknesses. In the final part of the thesis, based on a sample of 200 European companies, the existence of a positive correlation between (environmental, social and governance) ESG performance as well as economic and financial performance is verified by means of statistical instruments, in order to demonstrate that organizations that actively commit to CSR also achieve economical benefits. Such a correlation seems to occur particularly in organizations that also exhibit a high degree of innovation, as Eccles and Serafeim hypothesized in May 2013 in the paper ‘The performance frontier: innovating for a sustainable strategy’. More in detail, Chapter I examines the evolution of the various definitions of Corporate Social Responsibility, starting from the proposals brought forward by the American literature, down to the more recent definitions proposed by the European institutions. An in-depth analysis is dedicated to the Union directives on non-financial disclosure and to the criticalities of its implementation. Chapter II illustrates the motivations for which a company finds it convenient to commit to CSR, showing the benefits both for companies and for the whole society that emerged from the European Union’s inquiries and from a meta-analysis led by Oxford University. Chapters III and IV examine the standard principles of process and content (GBS, AA1000, GRI). Also examined are the integrated report, the ‘King III’ South-African regulation and the fundamentals of the framework proposed by IIRC. Chapter V quantitatively analyses the sustainability reports related to the 2014 practice based on a sample of 50 European companies, in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the published reports. The evaluation, carried out using an analysis format developed specifically for the purpose by the author, and focused on seven key criteria, made it possible to seize the main characteristics, strengths and weaknesses of social reporting as it is currently adopted. From the analysis, it emerged that CSR reporting has reached remarkable depths for large European organizations, and that some of them can be considered as global best practices. Chapter VI describes the historical origins and the developments of sustainable finance, and particularly of ethical and sustainable mutual funds; it also presents the main reasons underlying ESG ratings and the innovative instruments to measure the social impact of enterprise venture. Chapter VII carries out a statistical analysis to verify whether there exists a correlation between ESG performance and economical-financial performance, in order to demonstrate that companies actively committed in CSR also achieve economical benefits. From the undertaken analysis, it emerges that - for the companies under exam considered with a “high degree of innovation” on the basis of the ratio between research and development costs and the net sales or revenue - a direct relation was found: an increase of commitment to ESG aspects results in an improvement of economical-financial performance. Indeed, negative correlations, related to the costs of implementing ESG policies, are counterbalanced in the long run by an equivalent amount of positive correlations. The latter are higher than the former and have been explained by the interpretation model proposed by the author.

Texte intégralThis research focuses on the representation of the Arabic-Islamic culture in the history textbooks of the first grade secondary school. The fact that the world today is characterized, more than ever, by continuous and inevitable encounters among people from different backgrounds requires a strong commitment to promote peaceful intercultural relations. For this purpose, it is believed that the contents of textbooks have an important role. Hence, the goal is to verify if the textbooks convey an effective education to know and to respect other cultures and religions, to promote intercultural dialogue; and to overcome ethnocentrism, stereotypes and prejudices. So, it was necessary to verify – in the sample of textbooks examined – the presence o any recurring prejudices, stereotypes and ethnocentric perspectives that can be constructed, consolidated, repeated and transmitted, consciously or unconsciously, through statements or images that illustrate the Arabic-Islamic culture. The first part of the thesis, the theoretical one, is dedicated to two themes: the first theme concerns the relationship between East and West and the representation of the others and the second theme concerns the status of Muslim women between stereotypes and reality. The second part, the empirical one, is dedicated to the qualitative content analysis of history textbooks. The analysis results show clear interest, by the authors and editors of the textbooks, for the theme of Arabic-Islamic culture. In spite of that, the texts may contain, although to different extents, stereotypes, generalizations and partial, inaccurate or incorrect information about the Arabic-Islamic culture and about Arabs or Muslims.

Texte intégralThe past few decades have been marked by a significant increase in the percentage of immigrants detained in prisons in Europe, disproportionate incidence of foreigners in the concerned territory. In Italy the phenomenon of over- representation of immigrants in prisons has a vey important dimension , that has attracted the interest of the sociological and criminological literature , research-oriented interest of its causes. The present work aims to investigate not the causes, but the effects of the experience of imprisonment on immigrants’s lives. Specifically, we’ll examine two main lines of interpretation, both included inside the internal current of Marxism, and we’ll pay attention to the correlation between the labor market and the prison system . According to the literature, the prison is a main entrance to the Social Contract for the new working class , made up of immigrants now a days. In fact, inside the jail, they have the opportunity to benefit from certain forms of welfare , accessing services and opportunities (health care , education and literacy , regular employment and job training ) from them - especially if irregular - they generally are excluded in condition of freedom in Italy. A different approach has argued instead that the detention of immigrants performs a function merely neutralizing aimed at their definitive exclusion from the social context . Inquire to what " offers " the penitentiary to immigrants and migrant life stories collected from offenders in the Prison of Capanne ( PG ), this work aims to understand what function the prison plays today against immigrants , and especially if it represents today a first step in the process of inclusion of the new working class , which has become a place of neutralization , with the advent of post-Fordist production system, a place of storage of excess workers.

Texte intégralThis thesis deals with the issue of occupational injuries among migrants: it delves deeper into the problem of their supposed higher vulnerability to occupational injuries in respect to Italians and aims to identify which factors influence the occurrence of work injuries in each of the two groups, in order to better understand the reasons of their different vulnerability. Even though since the Seventies researchers have attempted to demonstrate whether non-natives are more vulnerable than natives to occupational injuries and to explain the reasons for this alleged over-representation, the presence of many limits related both to the content and to the methodology of extant studies prev ented the reader from accepting these results as definitive. This research attempts to overcome some of the limitations of previous studies collecting first-hand data. A survey, though the administration of a questionnaire, has been carried out on two samples, one of Italian victims (300 respondents) and one of immigrant victims (200 respondents) of work injuries in a local Italian area (Trentino). The work on the field has allowed, then, to gain the following objectives: verify whether migrants are more vulnerable to occupational injuries than Italians; depict a profile of the injured migrant and of the injured Italian and finding out, though statistical analysis, the factors that help to explain migrants’ over-representation in the phenomenon.

Texte intégralThe current research (with a qualitative-hermeneutic approach) explores the phenomenon of Colombian armed conflict. It is specifically focus on social reintegration process and the subjective experience of ex combatants and ex abducted people. The study of the phenomenon in its clinical and sociopolitical complexity, articulates three vertices of analysis: Study 1: Social representations, around the current armed conflict and its involved figures. Study 2: The principal models of intervention offered by two organizations that work directly with ex abducted people (País Libre Foundation) and with demobilized people from illegal groups (Colombian Agency for Reintegration, “ACR”). Study 3: Family patterns, and its principal relational resources tan have supported subjects during their experience as abducted or combatants and once their return to society. The three axes of family patterns were explored (the origins, the couple relationship and the generational passage –Cigoli & Tamanza-) and the resources that can support family resilience (Walsh, 2005). Results break traditional polarization on the lectures around Colombian armed conflict. The present research transcends the individual study of involved participants and of implications of traumatic facts, to explore inside their relationships and resources. New approaches are presented to orientate interventions in clinical psychology that could be helpful to social reintegration process. It is also presented a new approach that includes the decisive role of families and communities as active actors instead of passive and victimized as they have been generally treated.

Texte intégralThe doctoral thesis analyses the Anjou-Durazzo dynasty, in particular from the point of view of the construction of the legitimation of power and consensus around the sovereign. The perspective selected depends on awareness of the urgency of issues relating to legitimation and consensus, considering that today the economic crisis, migration and a pandemic are exhausting governments and national and supranational institutions in the West. The problem of legitimation and consensus as the founding elements of power was present also in the Middle Ages. The central point of the thesis is the understanding of the political and symbolic instruments used by the Anjou-Durazzo in order to give a basis for their domination."Writing" was the first field of study considered. I focused on the analysis of documentary production from the Chancellery of Anjou-Durazzo. I did a serial investigation of the acts of, in particular on the preamble or arenga, considered to be the rhetorical part of the document. My hypothesis was that in their recursion they contributed to composing the ideal portrait of the princeps.I analysed other themes, that is to say royal ceremonies, monarchical knightly orders and heraldry. Among the monarchical rituals I have taken into consideration especially the coronations and funerals, which were fundamental events during the life of a kingdom in which many people participated, and where therefore the symbolic communication had a potentially wider effect to manifest the perenniality of royalty. Among the first acts of the dynasty there was also the foundation of a chivalric order that brought with it not only a ceremoniality restricted only to the group of members, but also constituted a reference point immediately recognizable through clothing. This attention to the communicative value of belonging to a circle is the same that is found in heraldry. In the Durazzo period, an innovative use of blazons and coats of arms was found on the facades of noble residences, where the presence of lilies and the tripartite coat of arms of Hungary, France and Jerusalem served to demonstrate loyalty to the Durazzo dynasty. The commissioning of the Durazzo also refers to symbolic communication. However, I did not limit myself to reviewing the works commissioned by the dynasty, but I wanted to link them to the analysis of the devotional choices of this Angevin branch, on which above all the location of their tombs illuminates us, extending the research to the whole history of the Durazzo. The thesis also took into consideration the structures of power that could transmit and implement royal orders in the territory, trying to reconstruct some reforms, implemented or attempted, in the belief that even the "bureaucracy" could contribute in giving a representation of the Durazzo power, given that changes in the organization and practices of the royal administration had consequences in the institutional balance. This analysis is preceded by a historical profile that offers an in-depth analysis of some key events in the events of the dynasty. From this thesis it emerges how the Durazzo desperately chased a legitimacy and a consensus that stabilized their power. Documents, ceremonies, chivalric orders, heraldry, tombs, foundations of churches and commissions, all contributed to contrasting the instability that hit the continental Mezzogiorno starting from the Great Schism. Ultimately, the project of Durazzo failed due to the absence of a biological heir, and Giovanna II, the last ruler of the dynasty, ended up involved in the war of the Two Hundred Years between the Angevins and the Aragonese. 11-05-2020

Piccolo, Chiara. « Generazione Neet : questione complessa o etichetta vuota ?
Risultano molto meno presenti i riferimenti all'education intesa come formazione continua.

Texte intégralThesis work consists in empirical research on the communication of the food theme, in a techno-scientific framework. Recently, nutrition has been linked to a lot of interests: social, economical, industrial, commercial, political, media but also scientific ones. These are significant issues that concern the public opinion and attract the media attention. In a society that revolves strongly around media, it becomes relevant to observe how the public discourse on themes like food and nutrition is being shaped among the public sphere. In addition, the rising of several techno-scientific projects that concern the field of nutrition cannot help but suggest to look at nutrition, and its symbolism, like a privileged object through which one can also observe the existing ties between science, technology and society. This study started by exploring the characteristics of the narrative of the food theme and its presence in the public arena through an analysis of the main Italian daily newspapers. One former longitudinal analysis, in the time-span 1992-2013, found- through an innovative tool of textual analysis ( topic detection)- the presence of some emerging themes. Next, we shifted our attention to the last period (2010-2016), with the aim to focus on the majority of the recent events and to verify whether the media discourse on food and nutrition gained new relevance or forms in the media agenda and in the public discussion. The research work is composed of two other different kind of analysis: on the one hand, it will discuss the emerging results from three focus groups that provided useful indications on the relationship between food, media and the public opinion; on the other hand, we sought to identify a relation between media coverage and the attitudes of the public opinion by adopting a “risk indicator” and the data from certain European surveys.

Texte intégralThe research is a qualitative exploratory study on the identity and social representations of the children living on the streets of Nairobi (Kenya). A number of representations of street children are shown and analysed(including the one – chokora – elaborated by the local community that assimilates the children to garbage) to demonstrate how the identity of the street children may be understood making reference to the subject as the product of social and cultural conditioning or as an entity possibly able – within a narrative continuity – to elaborate reflexively his own experience and to actively produce new meanings and social forms. Methodologically, forty-nine structured, twelve semi-structure and sixty-five in depth interviews were carried out with street dwellers, ex street boys, family members of street children, NGOs and CBOs’ social workers, privileged witnesses and individuals from the local community. Moreover, a visual technique (photo diary) and participatory observation were used. The empirical research has shown that the identity of the street children is formed on the relations of belonging and differentiation. Furthermore, social representations are determinant for the identity process of the street children, but there is also room for one’s own identity negotiation, in the light of the internal conversation, that allows a restructuring of the relational self around a positive mainstay. This happens when the negotiation of the identity is experienced as a relational process, oriented by the ultimate concerns, within trustworthy relations, that allow a positive representation of the self.

Texte intégralThe aim of this thesis was to analyze the context of residential communities for young offenders (Part I) and to analyze the influence of social representations in adolescents and educators (Part II). The first part offers two levels of study on adolescents and on the organizational structure of the community. Adolescents show many problematic levels in the identified variables (Experiences of neglect and abuse during childhood, Attachment Styles, Self-Esteem, Interpersonal Relations, Behavioural problems). No differences between groups of young differentiating according to the reason for placement in community were found. Analysis of community (101 educators from 20 different households) with the SCIA (Standard Community for Children and Adolescents) questionnaire (still under validation) which has the objective to identify good practices and problematic levels, which in our case are frequent in the processes of internal management. The second part, based on the theoretical model of social representations, offers a qualitative analysis to explore the social representations that guide the action of the main actors (adolescents and educators) involved in community life and it shows the differences between different models. Differences between community focused on “institutional-rehabilitative” actions and community more focused on personal improvement of single young were detected

Texte intégralAfter more than a hundred years of massive emigration and about thirty of immigration, Italy now faces the issue of second generation immigrants' citizenship, both in the sense of the acces to legal status of citizen – now based on ius sanguinis, with the possibility of acquiring the citizenship iure soli at the age of eighteen under the condition of permanent residence and following an expression of intent – and in the substancial sense of inclusion within the political community. This dissertation has the aim to open the concept of citizenship – as central in the political science as it is «essentially contested» - to empirical research, in its connections with national, religious and political spheres, leading to a rethinking of the national citizenship question. It is broadly devided into two parts : in the first, social representations of citizenship among a groupe of «young muslim immigrants children» are analysed, leading to three «models of citizenship»; in the second, a fieldwork within «young muslim immigrants children» associations and within the Citizenship Office of Genoa Municipality is realised. Ethnography permits to complete the analyses by taking into accout practices and processes through wich different meanings of citizenship are negociated, among power relations. A comparative approach adopting the French case as a «mirror» to the Italian one, allows to discuss a stereotyped opposition between «ethnical» and «ethical» nations, and propose a few paths to theoretical generalization

Doctoral thesis, Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10579/3002.
Texte intégralThis thesis analyzes the transformations of the Albanian cultural identity in the lapse of time, since modern age to the post-modern age. The aim of this analysis is to verify the contribution of the anthropological studies in understanding the political reasons that produce the socio-cultural deve-lopments in Albanese society. I decide to face the problem in a comparative way, that start by the description of the post-modern Albanian identity, such as it has given by the Albanese intellectual elite to continue in a critical analysis of the birth and the development of modernity. This analysis distances itself from the official version of national history. Finally, I chose to compare the variation of “albanity” submitted from the intellectual elite with those that display in the everyday life of Albanese people. These ones shows the effects that the globalization action (deregulations, deterritorialization), had in the construction of localistic motivations and of fragmented versions of the cultural identity on Albanian nation.

Texte intégralThis dissertation presents the results of a multi-phase project whose goal was the creation of a new model of solidarity-based collective action. Developed in three consequential and necessary phases, this project aims to provide theoretical, methodological and practical guidance for interventions of global citizenship to favor conditions of social justice. The first phase consists of a cross-cultural study conducted in Italy, Austria and the United States aimed at detecting the social representations of the concepts of obedience and disobedience in young adults groups. The discussion of the results highlights the similarities and the differences between cross-cultural representations and defines the concepts of obedience and disobedience for the first time in literature, through the use of completely bottom-up mixed methods. In the second phase has been created and validated a psychometric instrument that can measure the attitude related to pro-social disobedience because, in the third and final stage, this construct, along with the variables moral reasoning and engagement values, have been tested as predictors of the EMSICA model, that explains collective action in favor of a disadvantaged out-group. The discussion of the results indicates the empirical relevance of these variables offering interesting insights for policy makers.

Doctoral thesis, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, 2013. http://amsdottorato.unibo.it/5514/1/gallicchio_adriana_tesi.pdf.
Texte intégralThis work is to study the effect of social representations of music college students who will become teachers of kindergarten and in particular the changes that occur during the university education period in Italy and Venezuela. The main objective was to make a comparison on the following issues: musical child, skills of the teacher and the purpose of music education. This work is embedded within the project "The musical knowledge as a social representation" (Addessi-Carugati 2010). The leading hypothesis is that the implicit conceptions of music work as social representations that influence the practices of teaching and music education. The first chapter deals with the themes of children, teachers and music education in kindergarten in Italy and Venezuela. The second shows studies on musical knowledge, the theory of social representations (Moscovici 1981) and the pilot project at the University of Bologna "The musical knowledge as Social Representation". The third chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of the empirical investigation carried out on a group of students of teacher training at the University of Mérida (Venezuela). In the fourth chapter we reflect and discuss on the results of the comparative study, the plans and programs of graduate study and the professional music teacher profile. The conclusions illustrate how the initial hypothesis has actually been confirmed: by the analysis and interpretation of the findings seems that the concepts implicit knowledge about music owned by the students affect their practice as future teachers. It was also noted that the differences encountered seem to be caused by different types of variables in the environment of the music education teacher, and especially by the meanings expressed by the different teaching contents, the social and cultural contexts and university curriculum.
