Texte intégralThe heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) field, as any other large industry, must control the reliability of its products in order to guarantee an optimal service to customers, reduce development limits and master its costs. To achieve it, predicted, experimental and operational reliability tools should be known and well applied. Only a strong methodology leading to a qualification strategy can ensure the holding of the reliability target. The first part of this work defines reliability terms and inventories existing methods in related fields and specifically in HVAC. Following that, the qualification methodology is detailed, focusing on feedback, definition of reliability targets and possible test plans. Finally, specific examples implemented at CIAT (UTC) are detailed in final part

Texte intégralThe evolution of construction techniques, innovation and the environmental consideration standards are driving construction players to offer efficient and innovative materials for the construction of buildings and various infrastructures around the world. The material remains the most widely used in the construction industry today.Concrete standardization is generally based on prescriptive rules that take into account the Water/Cement ratio, the minimum resistance class, the minimum cement content, minimum air content, etc. This prescriptive method remains satisfactory but must be supplemented by another alternative to take into account the use of concrete composition not mentioned in the standard. Thus, the performance-based approach to concrete durability has been proposed. The aimis to allow the manufacture of concrete with a different formula than the standard while showing that it is as efficient as that of the standard. This performance demonstration involves the use of durability indicators and performance tests. The results of the tests carried out on the new concrete formulation will show whether its performance is equal to or above that of the standard. The problem arises in the number of tests to be carried out in order to guarantee the performance of the concrete. In this thesis, a generic method of qualifying the durability/Reliability of concrete with an optimized test plan is proposed for different types of environments. This method allows to estimate the durability/reliability of concrete in its environment with a given guarantee and a statistic of the tests to be carried out. The Wiener process is used to model degradation processes in concrete. An application of the method is carried out for the case of a concrete subject to carbonation

Texte intégralIn order to guarantee performance under customer conditions, reliability estimation is essential in all phases of product development. This task can be long and costly in the absence of an optimized approach, especially in a context where products are various. The work of this thesis is part of an optimization of the procedure of estimation and qualification of reliability during the development phases of mechanical subassemblies developed by FAURECIA company. To obtain a realistic estimate at the design phase, the proposed methodology incorporates the existing data (RETEX) on reference products in the predictive reliability estimation of new designs, the latter being traditionally carried out using numerical structural reliability methods. The integration of RETEX is performed by two proposed approaches. One using a similarity factor between experimental and numerical reliability, and the other using a time transfer function between experimental and numerical reliability. The proposed methodology allows building a better predictive reliability function, for a new design at the earliest stage of the development process, even before the prototype manufacturing phase. This makes it possible to anticipate the performance of the new product in order to make modifications if necessary, or to build prior information that will be important in a Bayesian reliability qualification plan optimization for the new product

Texte intégralElectronics in AIMDs expose patients to risks in case of component failure. Unlike aeronautics, where redundancy is common, AIMDs face constraints like miniaturisation that hinder its application. Additionally, the "medical grade" of components lacks standardization, complicating qualification. The absence of specific standards and limited studies on AIMD environments makes mission profile development challenging. To address this, a state-of-the-art review defined a mission profile integrating environmental constraints critical for reliability tests, as these strongly influence component failures. A methodology based on the mission profile, FMMEA, experimental designs, and accelerated tests was developed to qualify SMD components, including resistors, ceramic capacitors, inductors, and integrated circuits. This solves two key issues: designing efficient accelerated tests to detect latent quality defects and demonstrating reliability aligned with the mission profile. This work is part of the R&D project "RECOME"

Texte intégralThe evolution of reliability insurance systems for electronic components in the automotive industry involves the creation of new approaches in order to evaluate component reliability at high temperature. In this context, we developed new techniques of reliability diagnosis and qualification at high temperature for electronic components at the “Packaging” level. We firstly identified the major failure mechanisms related to the Kirkendall voids, a consequence of the intermetallic thickness growth Au-Al causing the interconnection failure. Secondly, we studied the influence of package geometry on ball bond robustness in high temperature storage, which was proved to be the most important technological parameter. This study allowed us to evaluate the reliability of many kinds of packages (SOIC and TQFP). To extend the qualification domain at high temperature (150°C grade 0) for large package sizes and to prolong the safe operation period, we evaluated the improvement provided by the addition of Pd or Cu as alloying elements to Au bonding wires. This improvement allows insuring a better Au-Al interconnection reliability. In addition, we demonstrated the contribution of combined environmental stresses to the electronic components qualification at the “packaging’’ level and proposed two optimized package sequential tests. The diagnostic methods implemented during this research led to the creation of procedures for the evaluation of reliability and for failure analysis. Finally, we developed and implemented two new measurement methods of "packaging" degradation: the first allows us to follow the delamination evolution and the second to measure the resistance variations of each Au-Al interconnection while aging in-situ

Texte intégralCondition and health monitoring can bring out useful information for the maintenance decision-making but few models allow their integration in the decision process. This thesis aims to construct new probabilistic quantitative models to evaluate the value of this kins of information depending on ith quality and on the nature of the observed variables. The proposed stochastic failure and measurement models take account the degradation/failure sensor data, the impact of operational environment on the degradation, as well as the nature of control techniques. Based on these models, we propose different maintenance policies and we develop the associated cost model to study the best methods for the exploitation of monitoring information. The studies in this thesis show the advantage of developing quantitative maintenance decision framework which allows integrating and evaluating the impact of condition monitoring information on the performance of maintenance operations
