Texte intégralThis work is intended to study and analyse the poetic translation and the difficult “translator’s task”, covered by some among the principal poets of the 9th century: Giorgio Caproni, Eugenio Montale, Vittorio Sereni and Giuseppe Ungaretti. The translator never works in absence of gravity: to translate the prose he should control and bridle the colour of the narrating voice and to drag it, or to be dragged himself, up to the end. The translation of a poem needs devotion to both the sense and the rhythm; it should be respectful, although in chains, toward a divine flicker. If, to be a good translator, one should be first of all a good reader, and for sure a privileged interlocutor, it is then the figure of the poet, who can often succeed in being a critic of the others but rarely of himself, who has proved to be, in the course of years, the most interesting middleman, that the translation has ever had. This work is divided into four chapters: the first one: History of the Translation throughout the centuries, has as its target to inspect the most important and interesting reflections that deal with the theory of the translation. In the second section, Considerations on the relationship between translation and tradition , are considered some reflections that deal with that incestuous relationship between tradition and translation. Those meditations aren’t faced up following a diachronic order, but transversally getting from the most interesting positions. The third chapter contains essays in which are presented some analyses of translations of poetic texts by Apollinaire, Frénaud and Yeats., carried out by some of the greatest poets of the 9th century. The fourth section moves straight onto the “table of translations”, and reports the direct witness of three figures above all others who have tied their names to the double experience of the poetry and the translation such as Franco Buffoni, Erri De Luca and Valerio Magrelli

Texte intégralTeaching and learning are now experiencing a new centrality. The fast socio-cultural transformations, the vertical growth of digital media and, therefore, the new ways children and young people learn suggest that changes and innovation are essential. School, today, can be improved towards an authentic learning environment, in which students can work in a laboratory school (Freinet, 1978), promoting significant and deep learning (Ausubel, 1968). New paradigms and teaching methodologies are emerging to meet the new educational needs; among them, the “Episodes of Situated Learning” approach, EAS in Italian (Rivoltella, 2013), was chosen for this study. This approach broadly refers to the “Flipped Class” model (Mazur, 1991), in which the lesson structure reverses the traditional teaching/learning cycle with a positive outcome on engagement and learning (Lage, Platt & Treglia, 2000; Enfield, 2013). The present study aims to explore and describe the differences between EAS teaching methodology and the usual style of teaching, taking into consideration class management, teachers’ actions and their proxemic transitions. Moreover, this study aims to verify whether the EAS, according to literature about the Flipped Class model, has a positive outcome on student engagement, focusing on its emotional, cognitive and behavioral components. In particular, we hypothesize that the EAS teaching methodology changes teachers’ behavior in classroom, increasing perceived self-efficacy and positive emotions, thus improving students’ level of engagement. We chose a quasi-experimental nested design (Creswell and Plano Clark, 2007), with a pre-post test within subjects. Both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis were performed (Greene & Caracelli, 1997), in order to reach, as far as possible, a holistic, effective and exhaustive representation of the studied phenomenon (Camerino, Castañer & Anguera, 2014). The research was conducted in a secondary school, in Milan, and included 15 teachers and 102 students attending third and fourth year that voluntarily took part in the study. Pre-post measures, including video-recording, systematic observation and questionnaires, of both students and teachers, were collected during the eight months of experimentation. A pilot study aimed to define the experimental setting, calibrate the observation instruments and guarantee the participants’ familiarization. The quasi-experimental study included a pre-test, in which teachers gave lessons according to their usual style; a training about EAS methodology for the teachers; a post-test, in which the same teachers gave their students the EAS lessons designed during the training. Results showed a major change in the classroom management: in particular, during EAS lessons, teachers made use of more didactic actions and different proxemics transitions. Moreover, students showed higher levels of engagement in EAS lessons than in the usual ones. This research project could foster positive outcomes, for its participants as well as the broader society, in which school dropout is increasing. In fact, many authors (e.g. Fall, 2012) positively associate low levels of students’ engagement to high rates of school dropout. For this reason, research on improving teaching methodologies, and effectively measure students’ engagement, could enhance deep learning and, at the same time, opposing school dropout.

Texte intégralThe thesis explores the role of school architecture and his surrounding built environment as educational mediators through the innovation of educational spaces and the creation of cultural interactions between school, neighborhood and other educational organizations. The aim of the thesis is first to understand theoretical ideas linking pedagogy and learning with architectural, landscape and urban design, including reference to celebrated Italian examples from the 20th century. It develops a critical reading of scholastic architecture in different European contexts that use the physical space and their surrounding environment as a resource for learning. The research also purposes to use case studies from the UK’s vast investment in Building Schools for the Future to provide some guidance for the design and management of secondary schools in Italy for the 21st century.

Texte intégralThe Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) student register records that today in Italy more than one out of ten students is not an Italian citizen, although the majority of them were born there. Several statistical surveys indicate that "foreign" students, when compared to native students, show a poorer performance in Italian and in academic achievement. This exploratory fieldwork carried out in schools in Turin (5th to 8th grade) analyzed data obtained through semi-structured interviews with 121 students and 26 parents as well as 141 questionnaires filled in by 27 teachers of Italian and family language. It showed that many students are "bilingual natives", as they grow up acquiring both Italian and another language; however, despite the fact that the interviewees rate polyglottism positively, schools don't usually offer targeted support in either language. Within the cohort the broadest range of competences in Italian are found first among those with an Italian-speaking parent, then among those who arrived in Italy at pre-school age attending kindergarten there; this latter group shows higher competences than those born in Italy attending nursery there, as also in the INVALSI tests. As far as family language is concerned, data illustrate that its teaching increases its competences without affecting those in Italian: quite the opposite in fact. These results confirm the remarkable role played by the "other" language in successful language education. MIUR is therefore called upon to include also linguistic data in its student register, so as to redefine its curricula according to EU Guidelines, and to identify specific procedures and resources for multilingual classes. This new policy would reduce the current cost of placing students in a lower grade, grade retention and drop-outs, and would promote school success, equal opportunities and multilingualism, with positive consequences both for the individuals and for the national economy.
Numerose indagini statistiche mostrano come gli allievi "stranieri" presentino, rispetto a quelli italiani, ridotte competenze in italiano e minore successo scolastico.
Thesis, Paris, INALCO, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020INAL0003.
Texte intégralOur thesis places itself in the domain of foreign language teaching. Its object is the construction of the scholastic discipline of Lingua e cultura cinese and the development of the teaching of Chinese culture in Italian upper secondary school. Based on the concepts of discipline construction and didactic transposition, the thesis develops from the observation of disciplinarisation process of Chinese language and culture teaching completed in France. The goal of the research is twofold. First, we want to show how the Italian discipline took unique shape compared to other languages and to the French context, and secondly, to show how there is a divide between the process of didactic transposition of objects to teach-teachable related to Chinese language and the corresponding one related to Chinese culture. While the former is widely developed, the objects to be taught have been identified for the latter but a reflection on how to make them teachable is still at an early stage. This process is influenced by the representation of cultural distance associated with Chinese culture, which makes the integration of the teaching components more complex. Specifically, this integration concerns cultural themes, proposed in a compartmentalized way, and the teaching of language and culture, which are not yet sufficiently connected. Finally, this shows how the integration of reference components and conceptual issues of the discipline as a whole are yet being defined

Texte intégralAim of the present study is the analysis of the relationships between teacher, student and class group. These relations are studied using the attachment style of the students as main variable. We correlated it with following constructs: school Self-efficacy, Intrinsic motivation and Engagement in school activities. The research’s context is a secondary school degree of Verona; the sample consists of 321 students and 16 classroom’s teachers coordinators. The relationships build between pupils and teachers are one of the key channels in order to achieve personal and cognitive development. The relational aspects that characterize the learning have a strong connection with the promotion of a meaningful learning: where there is no adequate care report also learning is blocked. The objectives of the research are to investigate the specific attachment style students develop towards the class coordinator and the perception they have of him or her as a "secure base"; we investigate the general attachment bond of the teacher class coordinators; we investigate the relations that students establish with their classmates and their perceptions of the cohesion of the class-group; we investigate the students’ perceptions regarding their own intrinsic motivation and academic self-efficacy, their engagement and involvement in school activities. The methodology used is quantitative: two different questionnaires were administere, one for students and one for teachers. The research results show that attachment relationship to the parental figure is relevant for all social experiences at school: students with an insecure attachment bond (avoidant or anxious) towards the parental figure of reference, develop a bond of the same type (avoidant or anxious) towards the teacher class coordinator. Students with an avoidant attachment bond perceive, from the teacher, less Availability and Acceptance and Rejection towards their needs. The anxious attachment bond toward the parent and to the class coordinator positively and significantly relates to the avoidant and anxious attachment bonds to the group class: anxious students tend to build bonds of insecure attachment to their group class. The avoidant attachment bond, toward the parent and to the class coordinator, correlates negatively and significantly with the school Self-efficacy, the Engagement and intrinsic Motivation. The more a student appears to be avoiding, the lower is the perception of their school Self-efficacy, their Engagement and emotional involvement and Motivation. The importance of the relationship between teacher and student is reflected in the fact that the Availability and Acceptance factor correlate positively with the school Self-efficacy, with all three factors of intrinsic Motivation (Preference for challenges, Curiosity and Independent mastery) and both factors of Engagement (behavioral Engagement and emotional Engagement). The more a student perceives his teacher class coordinator willing to accept their own needs, feelings and behaviors the greater his school Self-efficacy, his intrinsic Motivation and his Engagement at school activities will be. The way that students have to live the school and meet the learning activity is strongly related to the perception they have of their own class teacher coordinator. School self-efficacy, intrinsic Motivation and Engagement are not only influenced by individual aspects, skills and knowledge, but also by the relationship students develop with their teacher class coordinators and by the latter's ability to act as a "safe harbour".
