Based on analysis of press working characteristics, some of the main kinematics requirements for working mechanisms of servo mechanical presses were put forward: fast in empty stroke, slow and uniform in working stroke and big force gain. Crank link and knuckle-straight link are the most common working mechanisms in mechanical presses. To meet the requirement of servo mechanical presses, another mechanism, knuckle-triangle link, was designed. The kinematics simulations of the three mechanisms for a 1600kN press were conducted by dynamic software ADAMS. Knuckle-triangle link had the most uniform and lowest slide’s average velocity and biggest force gain within the working stroke. For the same nominal pressure of 1600kN, the required input torque of knuckle-triangle link was 9108Nm. In comparison with crank link and knuckle-straight link, the crank’s input torque was reduced by 84% and 76% respectively without considering the influence of friction and inertia. In conclusion, knuckle-triangle link mechanism is more suitable for large-tonnage servo presses.

Résumé :
Elastic moduli of both as-hot-pressed and oxygenated YBa2Cu3Ox were measured, under isostatic pressures up to 1 GPa, using a combination of strain gage and ultrasonic techniques. Pressurization of the as-hot-pressed samples caused no significant change in moduli; however, pressurization of the oxygenated sample produced a 5-fold increase in bulk modulus. The results show that the significant decreases in moduli between the as-hot-pressed and the oxygenated state were due to extensive microcracking, of an extremely fine nature, that occurred during the oxygenating sequence.

Résumé :
Nowadays, all PM part manufacturers are subjected to the huge pressure to reduce prices and minimize cost. Apart from the maximum utilization of the machines in multi-shift operation, the manufacturers have to select the optimum machinery in terms of pressing technology. Flat parts, for instance, are produced on mechanical high-speed presses with very high economic efficiency. Here high stroke rates that can be achieved are the focal point. Multi-level complicated components are produced on multiplaten presses providing hydraulic auxiliary movements. Both mechanical automatic presses with modular multiplaten die sets and hydraulic presses with closed-loop controlled movements, equipped with position sensors, are suitable for this application. The geometrical complexity, the requested dimensional tolerances and the density are of decisive influence of the machine to be selected. The sizing is process is carried out on machines providing optical part recognition and automatic part handling. For this wide variety of different applications DORST Technologies can offer customized plants to suit the requirements. To gain maximum economic efficiency, all machines – powder compacting presses or automatic sizing presses – are available with handling systems such as die set change systems, or linkage of the press with the furnace.

Difference in dot gain using various additives to the damping solution was investigated on two offset web presses. Dot gain was measured using a densitometer and calculated considering CIE L*a*b* coordinates. It was found that while using a non alcohol additive instead of the alcohol one, dot gain became smaller and printing stability was lower. Changes in dot gain depend on the ink that may vary in colours. The influence of changes in dot gain on the colour was determined. Besides, it was found that differences in colour were unacceptable in many cases.

Résumé :
The main task of agriculture is to provide the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan with food. In accordance with the program of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on import substitution and increase in crop and livestock production, this is an urgent task of agricultural production. The article deals with the issues of increasing the productivity of animal husbandry and increasing the number of livestock, and it is argued that their solution largely depends on the creation of a solid forage base. Pressed hay influences the increase in milk yield and meat weight gain in the winter stall period. In the annual structure of the feed ration, the share of pressed hay reaches 54%. Thus, 1 kg of hay contains 8...15% protein, 23...32% fiber and up to 30 mg of carotene. Pressed hay can be stored for up to three years without losing its nutritional qualities, which allows farms to create an insurance stock. The natural, climatic and production features of the Kyzylorda region make it possible to harvest high-quality pressed hay in engineering rice irrigation systems

Résumé :
AbstractThe experiment was performed on 60 crossbred weaners with average initial body weight (BW) of 22 kg. The animals were divided into 4 groups, with 15 animals (10 males and 5 females) per group, based on the percentage content of the following components in complete diets: soybean meal, toasted full-fat soybeans, cold-pressed rapeseed cake with increased oil content, extruded rapeseed cake with increased oil content. The growth performance of pigs, carcass characteristics, meat quality and the fatty acid profile of depot fat were determined. The pigs fed complete diets containing toasted soybeans had higher average daily gain (ADG). The animals receiving cold-pressed rapeseed cake were characterised by lower ADG and higher FCR. The carcasses of pigs fed diets containing cold-pressed rapeseed cake and extruded rapeseed cake had lower lean content than the carcasses of pigs administered toasted soybeans. The analysed feedstuffs had no effect on back-fat thickness or meat quality. Cold-pressed and extruded rapeseed cake contributed to changes in the fatty acid profile of backfat, including an increase in the concentrations of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and a more desirable n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio. The extrusion processing of rapeseed cake decreased the content of lysine and methionine with cystine by approximately 4%, and reduced total glucosinolate content by approximately 17%. The inclusion of toasted soybeans in pig diets contributed to higher BW gain and carcass dressing percentage. Rapeseed cake with increased oil content led to desirable changes in the fatty acid profile of backfat.

Résumé :
Metal forming press is one of the most commonly used manufacturing machines. Every day, millions of parts are produced by metal forming ranging from battery caps to automotive body panels. Therefore, even a small improvement may add to significant corporative gain. Currently, the metal forming presses can be divided into two categories: mechanical presses and hydraulic presses. The former is fast (high speed presses may reach up to several thousand shots per minute) and energy efficient (the large flywheel eases the impulsive force), but lacks flexibility. On the other hand, the hydraulic presses are flexible (their motions can be programmed) and accurate, but are expensive to build and to operate. Recently, there are mechanical presses driven by servomotors. They could perform as flexible as hydraulic presses with high speed. Nevertheless, they are even more expensive to build and to operate. This paper introduces a new design of mechanical press whose performances are programmable, including the trajectory and the velocity of the stroke, and yet, it is relatively inexpensive to build and to operate. The key idea of the new design is a 2-degree-of-freedom seven-bar linkage mechanism driven by a large constant speed motor and a small servomotor. First, the kinetics and kinematics of the design are presented including the feasibility conditions, mechanical advantage, as well as the torque and power distribution between the two motors. Next, a number of simulation results are given. The design (parameter) optimization is also carried out using Genetic Algorithm (GA). Based on computer simulation, it is shown that the new design is indeed very attractive.

He, M. L., Gibb, D., McKinnon, J. J. and McAllister, T. A. 2013. Effect of high dietary levels of canola meal on growth performance, carcass quality and meat fatty acid profiles of feedlot cattle. Can. J. Anim. Sci. 93: 269–280. This study investigated the effect of substituting canola meal (CM) for barley grain on growth performance, carcass quality and meat fatty acid (FA) profiles of feedlot cattle. Cross bred calves (n=140; 285±27 kg) were individually fed diets comprised of a barley grain based concentrate (including 5% supplement) and barley silage at ratios of 45:55 and 92:8 (DM basis) during growing and finishing periods, respectively. Pressed CM from Brassica napus, containing 11.4% residual oil and solvent-extracted CM derived from B. napus or Brassica juncea canola seed were compared. Canola meal was substituted for 0 (control), 15, or 30% barley grain (DM basis) in both growing and finishing diets. Regardless of diet, cattle did not differ (P>0.05) in average daily gain in either the growing or finishing period. For the overall feeding period, inclusion of 30% CM increased (P<0.01) DMI of cattle compared with 15% CM groups, but reduced (P<0.05) gain: feed (G:F) as compared with control and 15% B. juncea and 15% pressed CM. Gain: feed of cattle fed CM was also reduced (P<0.05) during the finishing period as compared with the control diet with this reduction being more notable at the 30% level. Carcass quality and incidence of liver abscesses were not affected (P>0.05) by inclusion of CM. Inclusion of 30% pressed CM resulted in higher (P<0.05)%FAME of total polyunsaturated fatty acid, n-3, alpha-linolenic acid and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and a decrease (P<0.05) in n-6/n-3 ratio in the pars costalis diaphragmatis muscle as compared with the control diet. In conclusion, inclusion of CM did not alter the growth performance or G:F of beef cattle during the growing period, but did lower G:F during the finishing period. The inclusion of 15 or 30% solvent-extracted CM did not alter carcass quality, whereas 30% pressed CM increased the levels of desirable fatty acids (i.e., n-3 and CLA) in beef.

Image acquisition with a CCD camera is a single-press-button activity: after selecting exposure time and adjusting illumination, a button is pressed and the acquired image is perceived as the final, unmodified proof of what was seen in the microscope. Résumé :
When presented with two different target–penalty configurations of similar maximum expected gain (MEG), participants prefer aiming to configurations with more advantageous spatial, rather than more advantageous gain parameters—perhaps due to the motor system’s inherent prioritisation of spatial information during movements with high accuracy demands such as aiming. To test this hypothesis, participants in the present studies chose between target–penalty configurations via key presses to reduce the importance of spatial parameters of the response and performance-related feedback. Configurations varied in spatial (target–penalty region overlap) and gain parameters (negative penalty values) and could have similar or different MEG. Choices were made without prior aiming experience (Experiment 1), after aiming experience provided information of movement variability (Experiment 2), or after aiming experience provided information of movement variability and outcome feedback (Experiment 3). Overall, configurations with advantageous spatial or gain parameters were chosen equally (Both-Similar condition) in all experiments. However, average behaviour at the group level was not reflective of the behaviour of most individual participants with three subgroups emerging: those with a value preference, distance preference, or no preference. In Experiments 1 and 2, these individual differences cannot be explained by MEG differences between configurations or participants’ movement variability, but these variables predicted choice behaviour in Experiment 3. Further in the Both-Different condition, participants only selected the larger MEG configuration at a level above chance when both variability and outcome information were given prior to the key press task (Experiment 3). In sum, the data indicate that prioritisation of spatial information did not emerge at the group level when performing key presses and more optimal behaviour emerged when information regarding movement variability and outcome feedback were given.

80, Olympic laying hens that had been in lay for 20 weeks were randomly allocated to 5 dietary treatments and fed over a 10 week period. the birds were individually caged thus there were 16 replicates per treatment. The dietary treatment contained expeller pressed thevetia cake which had undergone anaerobiosis. The cake replaced soybean meal in the ratio of 0:1000, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 and 100:0 dietary treatments significantly decreased (P<0.05) feed intake, egg production, feed efficiency and egg weight. The treatment however had no effect (P>0.05) on weight gain, mortality and egg quality parameters. Egg production and average egg weight was however not affected by replacement up to 50:50 substitution ratio (P>0.05). Nitrogen and fat retention decreased (P<0.05) with increasing thevetia cake concentration, while fibre was not affected. It was concluded that fermented expeller pressed thevetia cake can replace up to 50% of the soybean in layers' diet

Résumé :
Context Cold-pressed rapeseed cake is a by-product of biodiesel manufacturing that can be obtained on-farm after simple mechanical extraction of the oil. It has a high crude fat content and contains significant amounts of linoleic acid, which make it a promising lipid supplement to modulate meat fatty acid profile. However, previous studies have indicated that using unsaturated fats in beef cattle diets could promote lipid oxidation and reduce meat redness. Aims The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of supplementation of intensively fattened beef steers with cold-pressed rapeseed cake on the fatty acid composition of beef fat and changes in measures of meat colour and lipid oxidation during 6 days of aerobic storage. Methods Sixteen Limousin steers were divided into two homogeneous groups and were fed ad libitum with barley straw and a concentrate mixture supplemented with either PROGRAS (PROGRAS at 2.7% of the diet, high in palmitic acid C16:0 from palm oil; CTR, experimental control; n = 8) or cold-pressed rapeseed cake (CPRC at 14.8% of the diet; CPRC treatment; n = 8) for a period of 9 months. The growth performance and carcass traits were assessed. The intramuscular fatty acids were analysed and the colour stability and lipid oxidation were measured in meat stored aerobically at 4°C for 0, 3 or 6 days. Key results Slaughter bodyweight and average daily gain were not affected by the inclusion of CPRC in the diet. Nor were there any changes in carcass weight, conformation or fatness. The longissimus thoracis from CPRC-fed animals depicted a higher UFA–SFA ratio and a lower atherogenic index than did that from animals fed CTR. Feeding CPRC increased the oleic acid , the vaccenic acid and the rumenic acid proportions in the muscle fat without affecting the ratio of C18:1 trans-10 to C18:1 trans-11. The extents of lipid oxidation and colour deterioration during aging were not affected by the dietary treatments. Conclusions The use of cold-pressed rapeseed cake as a lipid supplement in beef-steer diet improved the fatty acid profile of muscle fat without compromising meat oxidative stability, animal growth performance and carcass characteristics. Implications The supplementation of beef-steer diet with cold-pressed rapeseed cake could be an advantageous economical strategy allowing exploitation of an important by-product of small-scale biodiesel manufacturing to provide consumers with healthier meat.

Résumé :
Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) sensors allow one to collect digital data in a practical and environmentally friendly way, as a complementary method to traditional laboratory analyses. This work aimed to assess the performance of a pXRF sensor to predict exchangeable nutrients in soil samples by using two contrasting strategies of sample preparation: pressed pellets and loose powder (<2 mm). Pellets were prepared using soil and a cellulose binder at 10% w w−1 followed by grinding for 20 min. Sample homogeneity was probed by X-ray fluorescence microanalysis. Exchangeable nutrients were assessed by pXRF furnished with a Rh X-ray tube and silicon drift detector. The calibration models were obtained using 58 soil samples and leave-one-out cross-validation. The predictive capabilities of the models were appropriate for both exchangeable K (ex-K) and Ca (ex-Ca) determinations with R2 ≥ 0.76 and RPIQ > 2.5. Although XRF analysis of pressed pellets allowed a slight gain in performance over loose powder samples for the prediction of ex-K and ex-Ca, satisfactory performances were also obtained with loose powders, which require minimal sample preparation. The prediction models with local samples showed promising results and encourage more detailed investigations for the application of pXRF in tropical soils.

Résumé :
Abstract The capabilities offered by the servo-presses are not fully exploited by the sheet metal forming companies due to the lack of knowledge of their influence on the forming processes. Indeed, the control of the beneficial effects and the full use of servo-press features, such as the programmable kinematics, are increasingly becoming concerns for the companies having acquired that type of press. In this context, the finite element simulation is undoubtedly an approach to evaluate the potential gains generated by those presses and to validate the servo-press kinematics. This study is an attempt to gain insight into the impact of servo-press kinematics on a sheet metal forming feasibility. The forming experiments presented in this study have been carried out by CETIM for a X2CrNi18-09 stainless steel. The numerical simulation has been performed with AutoForm software that enables the user to rapidly and accurately design and simulate the sheet metal forming processes, including stamping operations. All parameters influencing the stamping operation in a servo-press can be considered. They include, for example, press kinematics, sheet temperature variation during the forming process and of course material mechanical properties. The hardening curves of the studied stainless steel at different strain rates and different temperatures have been taken into account. The simulation has been carried out for two servo-press kinematics: sinusoidal and soft-touch. The feasibility criterion, i.e. the part drawing depth, has been defined to match the experimental results. The numerical simulation with AutoForm made it possible to highlight the thermal effects, in particular, the maximum temperatures reached during the drawing operation. The simulation results analysis allowed the user to optimize the motion curve of the press in order to have a minimum cycle time while respecting the lowest possible temperature the sheet might reach during a drawing operation. Thanks to this study, the sheet metal forming companies will therefore benefit from this technology to develop and optimize the servo-presses usage.

Résumé :
High-temperature properties of silicon nitride ceramics with Lu-silicon-oxynitride grain boundary phases were investigated. Si3N4 powder with 1.2 mol% (SN12) and 4.8 mol% (SN48) of Lu2O3 were gas-pressure hot-pressed at 1950°C for 2 h under 20 MPa in 1 MPa N2. SN12 consisted of elongated β-Si3N4 and a secondary phase, Lu4Si2O7N2, whilst SN48 consisted of elongated β-Si3N4 and Lu4Si2O7N2 + Lu2SiO5. At 1500°C and 1600°C, the stress-strain curve of SN48 was nonlinear, whilst that of SN12 was linear, indicating that SN12 broke as a brittle fracture at these temperatures. SN12 had excellent oxidation resistance and weight gain during the oxidation at 1500°C for 1000 h was 4 g/m2. Creep lifetime of SN12 at 1500°C under tensile stress of 137 MPa exceeded 1678.5 h.

Résumé :
DM Screening is the advanced stochastic screening. It combines the best features of other screening technologies like AM, FM, and XM and is compatible with heat-set, cold-set and sheet-fed offset presses. The aim of this research is to identify the print suitability of hybrid modulated screen (XM) and digitally modulated screen (DM) in the offset printing process on a coated substrate by comparing different quality parameters like SID, trapping, print contrast and dot gain. Coated sample sheets are printed with the same solid ink density by using XM and DM screening to make valid comparisons. Around 150 sheets are printed to achieve the target solid ink density value (+ 0.05) during printing. After the density values are attained in accordance with standard SID values, next 50 sample sheets are printed, measured and evaluated.

Résumé :
In this work, an yttrium and rare-earth oxides mixture, CRE2O3, produced at DEMAR-FAENQUIL, was used as sintering additive for silicon nitride (Si3N4) ceramics. Samples were produced by uniaxial hot-pressing, using mixtures of CRE2O3- Al2O3 or CRE2O3-AlN as additives. Four kind of hot-pressed Si3N4 were used as oxidation samples: Si3N4+ 5vol% or 20vol.% of CRE2O3-Al2O3 (forming only β-Si3N4 as crystalline phase), Si3N4+ 5vol.%CRE2O3-AlN (α-SiAlON+β) and Si3N4+ 20vol.%CRE2O3-AlN (only α-SiAlON). The oxidation behavior was evaluated at 13500C, in air up to 160 hours. The oxidation rate of Si3N4 ceramics increased with increasing CRE2O3/Al2O3 content, and oxidation kinetics obeyed the usual parabolic law. Pure α-SiAlONs (Si3N4 +20 vol.% CRE2O3-AlN) were high oxidation resistant with weight gain, after 160 hours, of 0.1 mg.cm-2, while β-Si3N4+20vol.%CRE2O3- Al2O3 showed a weight gain of 1.4 mg.cm-2 after only 10 hours. The oxidation behavior of these ceramics was comparable with ceramics sintered with Y2O3. This result confirms the possibility of the fabrication of high oxidation resistance Si3N4 ceramics using the low cost sintering additive CRE2O3.

Zhou, X., Young, M. G., Zamora, V., Zijlstra, R. T. and Beltranena, E. 2014. Feeding increasing dietary inclusions of extruded Brassica juncea canola expeller-pressed cake on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and jowl fatty acids of growing-finishing pigs. Can. J. Anim. Sci. 94: 331–342. The energy value of canola meal is considered low because of its relatively higher fibre and depleted oil content. Brassica juncea is a novel canola species with thinner seed coat and reduced fibre, but twice the glucosinolate content of B. napus. Remaining oil in canola cake provides greater dietary energy compared with solvent-extracted meal. Extrusion prior to expeller pressing may increase fat and protein digestibility and decrease the antinutritive effects of glucosinolates. A total of 880 pigs (38 kg), housed in 40 pens by sex, were fed 0, 5, 10, 15, or 20% extruded B. juncea expeller-pressed cake (EPC) to slaughter weight (120 kg) to evaluate the effects on growth performance, dressing, carcass traits, and jowl fatty acids. Diets provided 9.6 MJ net energy (NE) and 1.0, 0.9, 0.8, 0.7, and 0.7 g standardized ileal digestible Lys:MJ NE over five growth phases (days 0–14, 15–35, 36–56, 57–74, day 75 to slaughter weight). Each 5% EPC inclusion linearly decreased (P<0.05) feed disappearance (ADFI) by 46 g and weight gain (ADG) by 8 g, but did not affect gain:feed. Each 5% EPC inclusion linearly decreased (P<0.01) carcass weight by 440 g, loin depth by 0.6 mm, and increased days on test by 0.43, but did not affect dressing, backfat thickness, lean yield, or carcass index. Each 5% EPC inclusion linearly increased (P<0.001) mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acid content and iodine value by 0.8, 1.0 and 1.4 g 100 g−1of jowl fat, respectively. In conclusion, increasing dietary EPC inclusions decreased ADFI, ADG, carcass weight, and loin depth, and increased jowl fat unsaturation. We attributed much of the decrease in feed intake to greater 3-butenyl (9.7 µmol g−1) content in extruded B. juncea canola expeller-pressed cake, a glucosinolate more bitter than others in conventional canola.

Résumé :
This work investigates and compares the fatigue performance of laser-welded joints of two press hardening steels: a standard 22MnB5 and a variant modified by a combination of niobium and molybdenum (NbMo) alloying. The results indicate that joint geometry aspects, superposed to an intrusion-generated damage mechanism, were prevalent in causing a poor fatigue life in the case of peak stress values greater than 11% of the base metal's ultimate strength being around 1450 MPa. As identical process procedures were employed, the tests allowed investigating the influence of the alloy design on fatigue performance. The results of geometrical analysis and fatigue tests indicated that the NbMo modified alloy performed better than the standard 22MnB5 steel. The results also suggest that, if extremely tight quality limits are used in the manufacturing procedures, laser-welded joints of press hardened steels could offer a very favorable fatigue performance being considerably better than that of conventional and high strength structural steels.

Résumé :
Abstract Hydropower plants equipped with Francis turbines may enter unstable conditions at high turbine discharge [13], with strong pulsations of power output and internal pressure. The cause are oscillations of a vapor-filled cavity in the vortex flow downstream of the turbine runner, interacting with the draft tube and penstock pressure. The paper describes the structure and simulation results of a 1D distributed-parameter model for full-load surge, parametrized from results of a high-resolution unsteady two-phase CFD simulation study (Wack [14]) of high-load pulsations in the reduced-scale model of a medium-specific speed Francis turbine. In earlier research on the same model turbine, Müller [12] had suggested that runner blade cavitation could cause instability. To clarify this, variation of turbine intake flow was sup-pressed, and the influence of pressure variation via runner blade cavitation on the relative runner exit flow angle and angular-momentum flux was simulated. Due to the upstream boundary condition, the influence of mass-flow gain χ is replaced by a cavitation gain factor ψ, likewise delayed by the limited speed of swirl propagation. It is found that gain factors obtained from steady-state simulation cannot be directly used with a lumped-parameter model because the swirl effect is much reduced due to its phase changes along the vortex; using the steady-state gain factors would thus exaggerate the influence of swirl on cavity volume. Simulation in frequency domain with realistic swirl transport delay confirms that instability can occur because in some parts of the cavitation zone the swirl provides oscillation power.

Résumé :
Oxygen free electrolytic (OFE) grade copper sheets (5mm thick) are severe plastically deformed by constrained groove pressing technique (CGP) at room temperature up to three passes thereby imparting a total plastic strain of 3.48 throughout the sheet material. The revelation of significant grain refinement investigated by light microscopy in constrained groove pressed sheets markedly signifies the ability of CGP technique for processing fine grained sheet materials. Relatively higher grain refinement rates are observed during initial passes. Deformation homogeneity evaluated from Vickers microhardness measurements indicated inhomogeneous deformation behaviour during early stages of straining; however enhancement in deformation homogeneity is observed later. CGP processed sheets subjected to room temperature tensile tests showed significant increase in strength associated with drop in ductility. Marginal gain in ductility coupled with slight decrease in strength attributed to the dominance of dislocation recovery is observed after third pass.

The effects of rare earth oxides (Lu2O3 and La2O3) on the property, microstructure and oxidation behavior of hot-pressing sintered Si3N4 ceramics were investigated. The silicon nitride ceramics with Lu2O3 and La2O3 as addition have been fabricated by hot-pressed at 1800°C for 1h under a pressure of 25MPa. Oxidation test was carried out at 1400°C in air for 100 hours. Mechanical properties, SEM and XRD were measured before and after oxidation. The results showed that Si3N4 ceramics doped Lu2O3 had good microstructure and mechanical properties than those doped La2O3. Oxidation test showed a parabolic weight gain with oxidation time at 1400°C in air and the oxidation products of the ceramics were SiO2, Re2Si2O7 and Re2SiO5 confirmed by XRD and EDS. The rate-controlling step was the diffusion of ion. The samples doped Lu2O3 showed superior oxidation resistance to those doped La2O3.

Where we are able to combine external sources of the ‘medieval’ period with local African ones – oral and linguistic, ethnographic and archaeological – we can begin to discern the place of Africa, or of parts of it, in world history. At the same time, we begin to gain chronological perceptions for regions where otherwise we are apt to fall back on synchronic notions of ‘traditional’ cultures and societies living as if in a permanent ethnographic present. The occasional allusion bearing a calendar date of universal applicability presses questions of correlation over broad distances, in a way that radiocarbon measurements (which we should hesitate to call ‘dates’) cannot do. Notwithstanding the importance of the latter technique for the study of the African Iron Age, the individual results are inherently imprecise (whether ‘calibrated’ or not) and, being run on specific samples, bear frequently an uncertain relationship to the historical event or episode in question.

Microstructure was effectively refined by BP-ECAP. The gain size was found around 100~500 nm after 4 passes using both route A and route Bc at pressing temperatures of 200°C and 150 °C. The grain size was much finer in comparison with the same alloy but received conventional procedure of ECAP without back pressure, which maintains around 2~3 μm after 8 passes at relatively high temperatures. Compression test results showed the yield strength increased with increasing applied pass. In addition, the samples processed using route A had a increasing of yield strength more obvious than that in samples processed using route Bc. The highest yield strength from the sample pressed by route A at 150 °C was more than twice of the yield strength in the solution-treated and forged condition.

Résumé :
In order to analyze the transmission characteristics of the knuckle-triangle working mechanism for servo mechanical presses, an experimental prototype was set up, and a wireless measurement system was developed, to measure the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the working mechanism. The working principle of the dynamic measurement was expressed. The forming force applied to the slide was measured by a donut-shaped load cell. The driving torque applied to the crank was measured by a resistance strain gage. To collect the testing signals of the forming force and driving torque conveniently and synchronously, a wireless measure system based on WiFi is proposed. Moreover, when the input crank rotates at different angular speeds, the slide stroke curves were measured by a grating scale. The experimental results showed that the developed system can perform wireless measurement, and provide experimental basis for the analysis of kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the working mechanism with servo input.

Résumé :
This article discusses the panopticon mechanism happened in Bhayangkari – an organization of wives of police in Indonesia. By using case study, this article focuses to see the system and the role of mode of communication that done by members of Bhayangkari. Theory of symbolic violence applied to explain how women were controlled and were became the victim of the panopticon in this organization. This research found that women in Bhayangkari proud to be controlled and pressed under the normative role of the organization with patriarchal culture. It is reflected in the way they wear dress, how they conduct vertical communication, as well as how they express themselves in social media. Furthermore, those particular behaviors were done in order to gain prestige and pride of Bhayangkari woman. Finally, this research concluded that Bhayangkari women did not realize that the practice of panopticon mechanism happened in their organization. They did not aware that patriarchy culture has controlled them and defined them as the victim of symbolic violence.
