Barrella, Giovanni.
Texte intégralStrong inequalities in the labour market characterize the current European scenario. In particular, many scholars maintain that young people are the losers of the globalization process. In this context, the research aims at deepening the relationship between young people and labour market policies addressed to youth entrepreneurship. This phenomenon has been observed along some specific vectors related to the entrepreneurial attitude expressed in terms of perceived opportunities, business skills, fear of failure and intent to undertake, and the relevance of social ties in the dynamics of self-employment and business creation. In order to collect the relevant information the research has addressed a survey to a sample of young aspiring European entrepreneurs, involved in active labour policies, i.e. education and training courses, vocational guidance, coaching measures and services supporting entrepreneurship. Considering variables regarding human capital, social capital and family status, and their influence in the different entrepreneurial paths of youth entrepreneurship, the research tried to design some possible social trends. The research has highlighted that young people coming from family contexts with high levels of human and social capital, tend to express an entrepreneurial approach characterized by self-confidence, openness in terms of innovation, thus using the full potential of weak ties. By contrast a low family status appears as correlated to a low self-confidence, lack of innovation, limited social networks, and less prospects in terms of entrepreneurial success.

MAGNANI, NICOLA. « La letteratura per tornare alla realtà. L'arte narrativa nella proposta culturale di alcune riviste giovanili : «Il Saggiatore», «Orpheus», «Oggi» ». Doctoral thesis, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10280/90.
Texte intégralThe objective of this thesis is to analyse the cultural development of three literary reviews «Il Saggiatore», «Orpheus» and «Oggi» created by a group of young intellectuals in the mid 30's. Following a period of political and institutional consolidation of Fascism, wide discussion was raised about the role of the new generation within the fascist regime. The aim, above all, of these reviews was to bring about a «new culture». There was a reorganization of the culture, which went beyond the epistemological plan of the idealistic system, which was thought to be lacking in effective language. As a consequence newspapers and reviews began to deal with literature, pointing out the inevitable need for a return to the novel as a more realistic art form from an ethical, spiritual, aesthetic and artistic point of view.

Texte intégralThe aim of the present research is to study the youth condition in Italy in the first decade of 2000 and to suggest some regulatory policy on this situation. The decision to investigate on urban poverty and deprivation in the first chapter, and to analyze intergenerational equity and mobility in the second and in the third chapters, is strictly related to the willingness of the writer to identify new policy instruments that can intervene in favor of young's opportunities and equity. The research is divided into two parts. In the first chapter we have done an analysis of the urban poverty in the city of Milan. To do this we have analyzed the movement of citizens in the different area of Milan, considering the availability of public facilities dedicated to young. After a creation of the indicators to assess the endowment benchmarks for school, cultural structure, Young Meeting Centers, sports centers, health centers specialized for young people, we have detected a connection between the services furnished and the presence of a specific population-based cohort. In the second part we have analysed the trend of intergenerational mobility and intergenerational equity. In the second chapter, we develop a literature review of the primary researches on intergenerational transmission of poverty and intergenerational mobility with the aim to analyze the most appropriate and recognized methodology to measure this data in Italy. In the third paper, we have measured the trend of intergenerational mobility in Italy, considering data from Bank of Italy SHIW.

Texte intégralIn this thesis, we study the articulation of the polycentric monarchy of the Habsburgs through the exposure of a case study centered on Genoa. In 1528, trained in the lap of the genoese condotierri Andrea Doria, Genoa was freed from the domination on the king of France and had integrated the Habsburg imperial system, as an independent and allied republic. The Hispano-Genoese political military and financial system owed much to the links between the Habsburg and Doria houses. If Andrea Doria was highlighted by an important historiographical production, his little nephew Giovanni Andrea, - who was admiral for the Spanish between 1584 and 1602 - has not yet been the object of completed studies. By observing his individual trajectory, the objective is to create a tool to question the role of the figure of the war contractor in the Habsburg imperialist policy. By crossing the empirical and micro-analytical perspectives, and resizing the analytical scales, the challenge is to understand the king's strategy of entrusting parcels of political power to individuals and to observe how Genoese took advantage of it. Finally, it is a question of measuring the consequences that this modus operandi had on the Habsburg war policy in the Mediterranean area. Through these questions it is the impact of the private interest in the construction of the polycentric monarchy that is raised

Texte intégralThe thesis deals with municipal entrepreneurship support policies (MESPs) through a comparison between the actions undertaken in this field by the municipalities of Milan and Barcelona and the experiences of young people up to thirty-five years of age. The theoretical framework has brought together the neo-Marxian and neo-Weberian approaches to urban policies and governance, and the socio-economic literature and theoretically valuable institutional documentation on entrepreneurship, also in the framework of welfare changes. Two analytical macro approaches emerged from this literature. The first highlights the convergence towards neoliberal governance and welfare models, oriented towards market and competitiveness at the expense of social cohesion. A trend of which the policies for entrepreneurship seem to constitute a paradigmatic example. The second one focuses on the peculiarities of the European city and on the compromise between growth and social inclusion that would characterise it, supporting the opposite thesis of the persistent difference between cities and of the divergence from the neoliberal logic. Against this background, the research focused on local differences and the role of municipal governments and their capacity to govern socio-economic and political changes. Besides, attention has been paid to the experiences of young people and policy outcomes in terms of redistribution of risks and opportunities. The analysis avails itself of an interpretative approach, a methodology based on the case study and the technique of the interview, and a comparative logic, which puts the differences and the related factors of influence at the centre of the study. After having placed MESPs within the socio-economic and institutional conditions of the two contexts, and given research findings, the thesis focused on the heterogeneity characterising different dimensions of MESPs. These include ideas and values, problems, objectives, measures and tools and outcomes. It highlighted how politics, institutional legacies, localised policy paradigms and governance arrangements interplay to shape specific and diverse local approaches to MESPs, thus affecting the capacity of city governments to govern socio-economic changes and to alter the unequal distribution of risks and opportunities for participants.

Texte intégralThe three-volume compilation, Navigationi et viaggi, published in Venice from 1550 to 1559, is the work of the humanist geographer Giovanni Battista Ramusio (1485-1557), who collected and edited geographical texts throughout the first half of the 16th century. The compiler attempted to update the description of the known world by employing new modes of knowledge, primarily based on the experiences of those who had taken part in exploratory travels. Ramusio, who served the Republic of Venice as a secretary at the chancellery, benefited from a broad network of collaborators who provided him with testimonies and travel accounts. My research offers the first joint analysis of Ramusio, the armchair geographer and secretary, within the context of early-modern Venice.Based on archival research, the first part of this work offers a reconstruction of Ramusio’s laboratory as part of the institutions of the Republic of Venice, the scholarly environment of Italy, and the world of Venetian publishing. The interrelation between his own interests and his professional prerogatives is established through a study of his scholarly approach and official role. The second part of this study focuses on the compilation, taking into account Ramusio’s influences, as well as his original choices for the organisation and selection of knowledge and sources. The objectives of this work of political geography are examined in the third part through an analysis of Ramusio’s own writings, the Navigationi et viaggi’s discorsi

Texte intégralThis thesis consists of three essays that explore the sources and modes of innovation activity in mature and young firms. In detail, Chapter 2 focuses on the determinants of young companies’ R&D activity, while Chapter 3 and 4 study the relationship between different innovative inputs and different innovative outputs by distinguishing among firms of different ages (mature vs young). The results of the econometric analyses performed in the three chapters shed some important light on the peculiarities of the innovative process of the young companies operating in two European countries: Spain and Italy. More in detail, they clearly suggest that the age of a firm is a relevant factor in determining its innovative behavior and its innovative performance. To be precise, what emerges is that various firm and market characteristics play distinct roles in boosting different types of innovation activities for young and mature firms. In addition, these two groups of firms seem to show important differences also with reference to the impact of various innovative inputs on their innovative performance. These general evidence could represent a signal of the ineffectiveness of “erga-omnes” polices aimed at increasing the level of R&D expenditure across all types of industries.

Texte intégralThe current period of human history can plausibly be identified as a global and urban era. Therefore, this thesis seeks to understand the dynamics between youth transition policies and institutional configurations since organization and social practices are changing, and young people's life chances and transitions are profoundly affected by macroeconomic conditions, institutional structures, and social background. The urbanization process is considered essential for explaining the macro changes in capitalistic societies under the neo-Marxist approach. Furthermore, we intend to combine this approach with the neo-Weberian, which considers the city as a whole local society and an important political actor. This approach makes it possible to think that the accelerated urbanization of the world emphasize the processes of convergence, provide for the circulation of models and at the same time stimulates differentiation on different scales. For this reason, the city is considered a crucial scale and institutional entity. Through an in-depth literature review, the focus is on understanding how organizational, social, and institutional practices are affected by the economic downturn, changing social expectations, and changing the socio-economic and political environment. Equally important analysing how the incentives and disincentives in education and training are changing based on the concept of activation and social investment. The analysis is based on a case-oriented approach which is considered the most suitable to embrace complexity in examining each case as a complex set of relationships with distinctive outcomes treated as singularities. Then we selected two cities Milan and Vienna, through multiple lenses of analysis, and highlight their context in strict relationship and interaction with the institutional architecture. This interlink and interaction through youth transition policies and institutional configurations embedded in a particular context such as that of a city are first, a way for moving beyond the ‘methodological nationalism’, and secondly, for focusing on their outcomes which are the reforming and redesigning of various institutional arrangements. After placing these policies within a socio-economic and institutional architecture, the thesis emphasizes some characteristics and elements that focus on crucial historical processes, adopting the discursive institutionalism framework for highlighting how the substantive content of ideas and the interactive process of discourse can take us beyond to explain dynamics of change in environment and in the conditions for the youth transition policies implementation.

Texte intégralThis study focuses on a corpus of chronicles of the Fourteenth century consisting in three main historiographical Florentine texts written in vernacular in this period, namely Cronica delle cose occorrenti ne’ tempi suoi by Dino Compagni, Nuova Cronica by Giovanni Villani and Cronaca fiorentina by Marchionne di Coppo Stefani. It aims at analyzing the principal concepts describing the running of the city and its stakes, as well as identifying the sources present in these chronicles. The analysis takes in account both the operation of writing the political experience and its value in elaborating the discourse on the city.To highlight what can be seen from the main aspects of political machinery in the city, the approach to the texts is threefold : the connections between city and citizens both in the context of the Comune’s increasing sovereignty and in the light of the concepts of unity and division ; the question of freedom in Florence, its fundamental principles, its forms and representations, in opposition to tyranny ; the links between the celestial city and the city of men based on the analysis of the reading of celestial omens and the concepts of Providence, Fortune and Free Will. The approach chosen concentrates on the stakes and representations peculiar to each of those subjects. From this conceptual analysis it emerges that the three main sources to the discourse on the city are the authors of Classical Antiquity, Christian Theology and Law. Contemporary sources of the chroniclers also can be found : official texts and documents produced by the city, noted authors in the period as, for instance, Dante Alighieri
BESSI, DANILO. « CARLO MARIA MARTINI EDUCATORE ». Doctoral thesis, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, 2022. http://hdl.handle.net/10280/117566.
Texte intégralThe paper intends to study the figure of Carlo Maria Martini as educator with particular reference to the Milanese episcopate (1980-2002) through bibliographic and archival sources largely unpublished. The hypothesis is that Martini went beyond the simple magisterium of the bishop and the traditional Jesuit pedagogy to answer the questions of contemporary man and the socio-cultural changes taking place. The work is divided into three areas of interest: faith education for young people; education in social and political solidarity; education in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue. Each part examines the educational action on a theoretical and practical level, focusing on concrete initiatives and specific educational contexts. The study highlights how Martini has interpreted the educational mission with originality and new tools. He translates the Second Vatican Council on a pastoral level, through the centrality of the Word and of the People of God. For him, educational action must insert the person into the Christian community, the educational place par excellence, where the Word of God is read and interpreted to the light of the Holy Spirit and of the questions it raises. In the community, the individual is educated to read himself internally, to open up to the world with solidarity and dialogue, to transform reality with the exercise of charity and fraternal communion.

Texte intégralThis thesis has for subject the representation of the Italian political through the reading of two novels situated between the 19th and 20th century. The Objective of our research is to read these historical novels in the light of a revolutionary political thought that of Nicola Machiavelli. Having tried to encircle the characteristics of the Florentine secretary, and so explain its revolutionary ideas and the specificity of its thought, this study continues with a double objective. The first one is the elaboration of an analytical approach of both novels : "I Viceré" Federico of De Roberto and "I vecchi e I giovani" o Luigi Pirandello, as well as a critical essay based on the consultation of the specificity and the narrative tendency of every author, to come finally to the detailed study of the various galleries of characters of both respective novels. Indeed, this thesis proposes a study of the characters which always sends us back to Macchiavelli's judgments and underlines the irrevocable presence of the spirit of this last one. The study becomes clearer by its comparative aspect, the main objective being to establish a correspondence between on one hand these two novels of the 19th and 20th century and on the other hand Machiavelli's political rules, mainly contained in his opuscule "The Prince". This second step clarifies the authenticity and the truthfulness of Machiavelli's theory in correlation with a certain Italian political reality which in spite of a constant evolution, remains subjected to the same and the eternal laws of the political arena such as Machiavelli perceives it

Texte intégralWhat is the effect of a "cash-in-advance" constraint on intertemporam behaviour of representative agent ? How does the liquidity restraint affect the consumption saving choice ? How does money affect assets prices and quantities ? The intertemporal behaviour of the traders is studied in many institutional arrangments : stochastic or deterministic models, discerte time or continuous time frameworks, open or closed economies. The major methological contribution concerns the explantation of two puzzles in the theorotical litterature. First, the link between asset prices and inflation is analyzed in a stochastic framework. The puzzle between labadie (1989) and giovannini (1990) models is seen to be due to the difference in assets'liquidity between the two versions of cash-in-advance models. Second, the connection between inflation and capital accumulation is investigated in a sidrauski-type model with a ces utility function. The link between money growth an capital accumulation is seen to depend on the cross derivative of the utility function (ucm). This framework permits to explain fischer (1979)'s puzzle : the effect of inflation on accumulation is decomposable into a relative price effect (a nominal interest rate move) and the response of consumption to this move, which depends on the substituability between money and consumption in utility

Texte intégralThe actualism of Giovanni Gentile (1875-1944) can be seen as the outcome of the reform of hegelian dialectics attempted by Bertrando Spaventa (1817-1883). In this philosophical system Gentile uses the concept of religion as a preliminary to philosophy : on a theoretical level through his desire to move individual's belief in God towards the God represented by the state, and on practical level in the place given to religion in his educational reform in the primary school. It is no longer simply the subordination of the religious to the political, because the individual is seen as a whole. The state is therefore perceived by gentile as the place in which man reaches fulfilment as both moral and political being. The self-consciousness must thus express this moral duty in such a way that the educator-state becomes a substitute for the family and the church, taking charge of the total education of the citizen. In this educational project, in which the ethical state must replace the divine state, gentile was concerned by a moral reform which, through the instruction of the citizen, would bring about italian political unity and thus the "new" Italy. However, this concern for national unity, for "the new man on the future Italy" was also a part of the ruling fascist policy. Not only was it because gentile recognised a "messianic" side to fascism that he was a member of the government from 1922-24 and remained a fascist until 1944 but he also firmly believed that fascism was likely to find its way in actual idealism. Actualism, the philosophy of the act, which postulates the unity of thought and action, is objectivized in a particular politics, that of fascism, as a historic transitional period. Gentile's involvement in the quest for this unity therefore has a hold over the real state alone while actualism is continually searching for the ideal state

The present study returns to Giovanni Gioviano Pontano's role as a thinker and philosopher. It is based on the treatises and tracts Pontano wrote, to which scant attention has been paid until now, but also on his ad hoc political writings and his better known dialogues and poems. It moves between different fields of inquiry including history, philosophy, and literature, trying to represent Pontano's thought not only in its doctrinal aspects, but in a more comprehensive and contextualized perspective. Within this perspective, his thought will appear as mercurial as Pontano himself. It is not a set of explicit, philosophical doctrines that can be described within a coherent theoretical framework, but a cluster of different thoughts, attitudes, and practices.
BRANCATO, GIOVANNI. « Il conflitto nei talk show. Giovani e fiducia nella politica in Ecuador ». Doctoral thesis, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/11573/1079234.
Texte intégralThe thesis project takes place within the framework of studies on political communication and media effects. In particular, this study aims to verify the possible effects that the view of Tv talk shows with a high degree of "conflict" between participants can have on viewers, in terms of confidence in politics and in some political subjects and institutions. The project's conception was based on two strands: on the one hand, the choice to carry out the experimental experience in a geographical area, and in a specific country such as Ecuador, where the bibliographic review showed a lot of attention to populist themes, but on the whole little interested in the possible effects of the media on citizenship; on the other hand, the adoption of an almost experimental methodology, unappreciated in a strictly sociological context.
