Abstract The aim of this work is to develop a finite element model that predicts the residual stresses in plasma sprayed parts formed on conical mandrels and removed by various means. The theoretical analyses and mathematical models are confirmed by X-ray diffraction measurements on plasma-sprayed zirconia samples freed from shaped mandrels by means of cooling, melting, and chemical dissolution. In the long wavelength (or high intensity) limit, above threshold ionization (ATI) is primarily the result of the interaction of a newly freed electron with the laser field. A classical model of ATI predicts that the energy of a newly released electron can be controlled by varying the laser wavelength and polarization. Similar predictions are made by Keldysh-style theories. Measurements, performed using both linearly and circularly polarized picosecond 10 μm pulses, confirm these conclusions. Light pollution is increasing at a rate between 6-10% each year worldwide, faster than population growth or GDP increase. This suggests that the growing market for decorative outdoor luminaires contributes to the problem. Stray light in outdoor LED luminaires is analysed using the FRED raytracing software. Fresnel reflections are shown to be a large contributor to upward light, especially from protective plastic covers. Additionally, up to 0.5% of the lamp flux may be scattered due to these covers. The protein C activator in Southern Copperhead (Agkistrodon Contortrix Contortrix) venom was isolated by sequential chromatographies on SP�Sephadex, Con A Sepharose and hydroxylapatite.
