Abstract The paper focuses on the possibility of evaluating the influence of character of the soil to oscillations velocity induced dynamic loads. Mathematical modeling is used to solve the parametric study. Models are created in software Plaxis 2d based on finite element method. Dynamic load is based on experimental measurements on the stand in the area of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, VSB-TUO. Soil properties are determined from the normative indicative characteristics.

Abstract In this contribution, a combined experimental and numerical study to assess the cracking resistance of cement-based materials subjected to desiccation is outlined. Experimentally, the tendency to hygral cracking is determined by means of mortar ring specimens exposed to drying atmosphere. A numerical model based on the nonlinear theory of diffusion and nonlinear fracture mechanics is developed. The relevant hygral and mechanical parameters and laws needed for the model have been determined by means of adequate experiments analyzed by inverse analyses. The hygro-mechanical behaviour of two different types of mortar is studied. Numerical results have been compared to experimental findings. Furthermore, a parametric study has been carried out with the aim to characterize the relevant material parameters influencing shrinkage cracking. It can be concluded that a combination of experimental and numerical methods can play a decisive role in optimizing mortars or concretes with respect to predefined and required material properties. In this way, the durability of concrete structures can be significantly enhanced.

ABSTRAK. Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode Desain Parametrik untuk studi bentuk bangunan bertingkat banyak. Rhinoceros dan Grasshopper digunakan sebagai alat studi bentuk bangunan bertingkat banyak. Desain parametrik dilakukan dengan parameter, yaitu berupa bentuk lantai dasar, jumlah lantai, ketebalan lantai, jarak antar lantai, derajat putar, dan olah bentuk. Eksperimen ditunjukkan dengan jumlah alternatif yang dihasilkan dari mengolah nilai parameter. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan gambaran proses mendesain bangunan berlantai banyak menggunakan metode desain parametrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kreativitas dalam mengolah bentuk dasar menjadi bentuk bangunan bertingkat banyak.Kata kunci: Desain Parametrik, Software Rhinoceros dan Grasshopper, Bangunan Bertingkat Banyak ABSTRACT. The researcher has used the Parametric Design method to do form studies of a multi-story building. The Rhinoceros and Grasshopper software have been used as a design tool. Design parameters were ground floor shapes, number of floors, the thickness of the story, the distance between levels, degree of rotation, and graph mapper. The experimental results are indicated by the number of alternatives generated from processing parameter values. The purpose of this study is to get a description of the process of designing many-story buildings using parametric design methods. Maximum temperature, minimum temperature and rainfall of Anand, Junagadh, Mahuva, Navsari and SK Nagar stations of Gujarat were analyzed on seasonal (winter, summer, monsoon and postmonsoon) and annual time scales using long period data. Linear regression/least squares time series slope (parameteric) and Theil-Sen slope (non-parameteric) were used to investigate the trends of climate va riability. Parametric and non-parametric trend analysis showed fair agreement in result except some cases where the non-parametric approach revealed very high magnitude in slope. During winter season minimum temperature is increasing and maximum temperature is decreasing at Junagadh. At Mahuva minimum temperature is decreasing and maximum temperature is increasing during summer. Only Anand station showed statistically significant increasing annual trend for minimum and maximum temperatures. There was no significant trend for any temperature time series of SK Nagar station. The rainfall of Saurashtra region (Junagadh and Mahuva) showed increasing trend. The impact of increasing temperature on different crops was found negative while decreasing temperature was found positive in most of crop studied.

The aim of this study was to determine whether the pelvic lymph nodes would predict the parametrial status in patients with cervical cancer stages IB1–IIA submitted to radical surgery and pelvic lymphadenectomy. To this end, we evaluated the relationship between positive and negative pelvic lymph nodes and their parametria. Our final purpose was to use this information to recommend the tailoring of the parametrial resection according to the status of pelvic lymph nodes to decrease the morbidity related with radical paratrectomy. From January 1996 to December 2001, 107 consecutive patients with cervical cancer stages IB1 and IIA were primarily treated by radical hysterectomy type III with systematic pelvic lymphadenectomy in a prospective study. Parametria were studied in two sections: the first included the tissue adjacent to the cervix, and the second the distal 2/3. Lymph nodes were routinary processed. Twenty-two patients (20.6%) had positive pelvic nodes and 16 patients (14.9%) had parametrial involvement, mostly by direct extension. Eight patients with positive pelvic nodes (36.4%) had parametrial involvement, whereas among 85 patients with negative pelvic nodes only eight patients (9.4%) had parametrial involvement (P < 0.001), most in internal parametria (62.5%). The sensitivity of pelvic lymph nodes for parametrial involvement was 50% and the positive predictive value was 36.4%, whereas the specificity was 84.6%; and the negative predictive value 90.6%. In the group of negative pelvic lymph nodes, only two patients (2.3%) had parametrial involvement beyond internal parametria. The univariated and multivariated analysis of prognostic factors was always significant but without a significant independent factor for positive parametria. Pelvic lymph nodes appear as good predictors of parametrial status, especially in node-negative patients, and could be used to decrease the paratrectomy in radical surgery.

Tujuan dan Latarbelakang: Kajian ini bertujuan membuat penambahbaikan pengiraan indeks keterangkuman kewangan dengan mengambilkira dimensi teknologi kewangan digital (fintech) dan menggunakan data daripada sebelah penawaran (supply-side) dan permintaan (demand-side) yang melibatkan negara sedang membangun terpilih bagi tahun 2014 dan 2017 (68 buah negara). Metodologi: Untuk mengukur indeks keterangkuman kewangan, kajian ini menggabungkan kaedah bukan-parametrik melalui model ukuran multidimensi dan kaedah parametrik Analisis Komponen Utama (PCA). Dapatan: Keputusan empirik kajian dengan menggunakan analisis PCA mendapati bahawa indeks keterangkuman kewangan yang dikemukakan dengan penambahbaikan dimensi fintech mempunyai kepentingan relatif dan hubungan yang signifikan terhadap tahap keterangkuman kewangan. Kajian ini menunjukkan nilai indeks yang tinggi menggambarkan tahap keterangkuman kewangan yang baik dan inklusif, manakala nilai indeks yang rendah adalah sebaliknya. Sumbangan: Implikasi daripada kajian ini menunjukkan kepentingan penggubal dasar untuk membentuk strategi dalam konteks keterangkuman kewangan di sesebuah negara. Selain itu, akses kepada perkhidmatan teknologi kewangan digital harus diperluaskan untuk meningkatkan tahap kewangan yang lebih inklusif dan mencapai keterangkuman kewangan sempurna. ABSTRACT Background and Purpose: This paper aims to improve the construction of the index of financial inclusion with digital financial technology (fintech) dimensions, using supply-side and demand-side data from selected developing countries for 2014 and 2017 (68 countries). Methodology: To measure the index of financial inclusion, this study combines non-parametric methods through the multidimensional measurement model proposed by Mandira Sarma (2012) and the Principle Component Analysis (PCA) as a parametric method. Findings: The empirical findings of the study using PCA analysis found that improvement on proposed index of financial inclusion using fintech dimensions has a relative importance and significant relationship to the level of financial inclusiveness. This study shows that the higher index value reflecting the more inclusive of financial inclusion, while the lower index value is vice versa. Contributions: This study concludes that it is important for policy makers to shape policies and strategies within the context of financial inclusion in a country. In addition, access to digital financial technology services should be expanded to increase the level of financial inclusiveness and achieve complete financial inclusion. Abstract:. Recent trends and rapid developments in computing gives tremendous impact in many disciplines beside computer science. Architecture is one of disciplines that have undergone an evolution in paradigm as a result of this development. Parametric design is one of the approaches used in architectural design which lead to the advance circumtances in design process. This approach adopts some of designer-friendly programming language where architects can utilize unlimited computation abilities from computers in search of design solutions by designing their parametric definitions or rules. This article will discuss about the parametric approach to the design of multi-storey building buildings. The case study in this research is the design competition of ASEAN Secretariat building (ESAC) organized by Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) Jakarta. The Grasshopper platform is used to explore for building form (form-finding) that maximize the view toward its site. A simple radiation analysis is also conducted in this design process using the plug-in called Ladybug + Honey bee and Multi-Objecive Optimization using Octopus plug-in, to look for minimal radiation that is affected by the location of the building form. Parametrik desain merupakan salah satu pendekatan yang digunakan dalam desain arsitektur. Pendekatan ini mengadopsi bahasa pemrograman dimana arsitek dapat memanfaatkan kemampuan menghitung yang tidak terbatas dari komputer dalam mencari solusi desain dengan merancang definisi parametriknya. Artikel ini akan membahas mengenai pendekatan parametrik pada desain bangunan gedung berlantai banyak. Studi kasus pada penelitian ini adalah sayembara desain gedung sekretariat ASEAN Jakarta yang diselenggarakan Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) Jakarta. Platform Grasshopper digunakan untuk mencari gubahan masa yang dapat memaksimalkan view dan bentuk terhadap tapaknya. AbstractThe paper is devoted to issues of estimating free surface elevations in rigid cylindrical fluid-filled tanks under external loadings. The possibility of baffles installation is provided. The liquid vibrations caused by lateral and longitudinal harmonic loadings are under consideration. Free, forced and parametrical vibrations are examined. Modes of the free liquid vibrations are considered as basic functions for the analysis of forced and parametric vibrations. The modes of the free liquid vibrations in baffled and un-baffled cylindrical tanks are received by using single-domain and multi-domain boundary element methods. Effects of baffle installation are studied. The problems of forced vibrations are reduced to solving the systems of second order ordinary differential equations. For parametric vibrations the system of Mathieu equations is obtained. The numerical simulation of free surface elevations at different loadings and baffle configurations is accomplished. Beat phenomena effects are considered under lateral harmonic excitations. The phenomenon of parametric resonance is examined under longitudinal harmonic excitations.

The diploma thesis is focused on creating a calculation software for designing heat exchanger. The software will not calculate one single heat exchanger but will recommend all heat exchangers which meet the requirements. Then, user can decide which heat exchanger is best suited for the specific application and make a comprehensive calculation. Part of the diploma thesis is to verify correctness of the software and make a parametric studies. Parametric studies will be focused on baffle cut, baffle spacing, tube pitch, and tube thickness and its effect on heat transfer and pressure drop.

Mathematical models of gasification are suitable for predicting gas composition and its properties. The aim of the diploma thesis is to compile a mathematical model for biomass gasification. The first part deals with the description of gasification and the technologies used. Theoretical part consists of the search of modeling methods. Other theoretical part is devoted to the description of the model and equations presented in the thesis. Part of the assignment is a parametric study that shows changes in gas production and its properties when changing the parameters. Finally, the model is compared with the data obtained in the experiment on the fluid reactor biofluid 2.

This thesis deals with the influence of balcony glazing to preheat ventilation air. In the first part there are described the ways of passive use of sun radiation and types of ventilation of flats. THESEUS-FE 4.0 is used as a simulation program, for which heat transfer is described. The second part contains description of flat and selected case simulation, followed by a geometric model and description of boundary conditions. Finnaly is done evaluation of case simulations not only in therms of savings in ventilation, but also for heat loss as a whole.

The master's thesis deals with the analysis of the current version of the trolley and the docking station of the channel racks and the design of modifications. The theoretical part describes the components of the storage channel system. There is also explained principle of pallet storage in this part. In the following chapter, several variants of the design of the lifting mechanism of the lifting platform are elaborated. The work also presents static structural analysis of the current version of the trolley and docking station, parametric study and topological optimization of one of the components. Static structural analyzes were partially solved in the finite element software RFEM by Dlubal Software s.r.o company, and mainly in the software ANSYS Workbench 2020 R2 by ANSYS, Inc. company.

In Sweden, the railway sector currently faces the challenge of developing its first high-speed railway line, in response to the need to provide faster domestic and international transport alternatives. High-speed train passages on railway bridges can cause resonance in the bridge superstructure, which induce high accelerations that should not exceed the limits stipulated in the current design code. The most common bridge type adopted in Sweden is the portal frame bridge, an integral abutment bridge confined by surrounding soil. The soil possesses inherent material damping and radiation damping that allows energy dissipation of train-induced vibrations. Both the damping and the natural frequency of the soil-structure system influence the acceleration response of the bridge superstructure. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the effect of soil-structure interaction on portal frame bridges. Within this thesis, a numerical parametric study was performed to gain knowledge of the dynamic effect of the relative deck-abutment stiffness on the soil-structure interaction of portal frame bridges. For four span lengths, three different boundary conditions were analyzed in the form of i) no soil, ii) backfill, and iii) half-space. The analysis was performed on two- and three-dimensional finite element models. The backfill and subsoil were modeled with both direct finite element approach, and with a simplified approach using Kelvin-Voigt models and frequency-dependent impedance functions. Furthermore, time was devoted to investigating the nonlinear compression-only behavior of the interaction between the backfill and the abutments to allow separation. The results presented in the thesis illuminate the essence of including soil-structure interaction in the dynamic analysis as both the modal damping ratio and the natural frequency increased drastically. The effect of backfill on short span bridges has shown to be more prominent on the reduction of the train-induced vibrations. For longer spans, the subsoil proved to be more significant. For the simplified models the modal damping ratios of the different span lengths have been quantified as a logarithmic trend of the first vertical bending mode. Two-dimensional models have been problematic when using plane stress elements due to the sensitivity of the element thickness on the response. Thus, such models are only recommended if validation with corresponding three-dimensional models and/or field measurements are possible. By allowing separation of the soil-structure interface, the effect of contact nonlinearity on the acceleration response has been more suitable with direct finite element approach - in which static effects of the soil are accounted for - contrary to the simplified nonlinear models with compression springs.
Järnvägssektorn i Sverige står inför utmaningen att utveckla den första höghastighetsbanan med syftet att erbjuda snabbare inhemska och internationella transportalternativ. Passager av höghastighetståg på järnvägsbroar kan orsaka resonans i brons överbyggnad vilket resulterar i höga accelerationer som inte får överskrida begränsningarna i dimensioneringsnormen. I plattrambroar, vilka är främst förekommande i Sverige, utförs broplattan inspänt i rambenen omslutna av jord. Jorden bidrar utöver styvhet, även med material- och strålningsdämpning där vibrationer i jorden inducerade av tågpassager tillåts dissipera. Accelerationerna i brons överbyggnad påverkas av dämpningen och egenfrekvensen av jord-struktur systemet. Med anledning av detta är det väsentligt att undersöka effeken av jord-struktur interaktionen på plattrambroar. I detta examensarbete har en numerisk parametrisk studie utförts för att erhålla kunskap om effekten av den relativa styvheten av broplattan och rambenen på jord-struktur interaktionen av plattrambroar. Fyra spännvidder har undersökts för tre olika randvillkor där i) ingen jord, ii) motfyllning samt iii) halvrymd har beaktats. Analysen utfördes på två- och tredimensionella finita element modeller. Motfyllningen respektive underliggande jord modellerades med finita element på ett direkt- samt förenklat tillvägagångssätt där Kelvin-Voigt modeller och frekvensberoende impedansfunktioner användes. Mellan motfyllningen och rambenen har separation tillåtits där det icke-linjära förhållandet av interaktionen undersöktes med tryckbeteenden för fjädrarna. Resultaten belyser vikten av att inkludera jord-struktur interaktionen i dynamiska analyser p.g.a. ökningen den medför för den modala dämpningen och egenfrekvensen. För korta spännvidder, påvisades det att effekten av motfyllningen var mer framstående för reduktionen av vibrationerna orsakade av tåg. För längre spännvidder framgick det däremot att underjorden hade en större påverkan. Effekten av jord-struktur interaktionen på spännvidderna kvantifierades som ett logaritmiskt samband för den modala dämpningen av första vertikala böjmoden. Tvådimensionella modeller har varit problematiska när plana spänningselement användes p.g.a. känsligheten i responsen orsakad av variationer i elementtjockleken. Därav rekommenderas tvådimensionella modeller endast om validering mot tredimensionella eller fältmätningar är möjliga. När separation tilläts i gränsytan av jord-struktur interaktionen, visade det sig att direkt tillvägagångssätt med finita element var mer lämplig med hänsyn till det icke-linjära kontaktbeteendet. Detta eftersom de statiska effekterna av jorden påverkade accelerationsresponsen markant. De statiska effekterna har inte varit möjliga att simulera i dem förenklade icke-linjära modeller med tryckfjädrar.

This master thesis deals with design and numerical modelling of piezoceramic sensor, which is placed on a rail, in order to generate electrical energy, which can be used for wireless monitoring of railway traffic and to monitor the condition of the railway. The thesis is divided into three parts. Theoretically background of piezoelectric energy harvesting is described in first part, where some previous application of piezoelectric generator in railway area are shown. In the second part, parametric analysis of numerical model is performed, which directly leads to finding best location on a rail, where piezoelectric generator should be placed. For this analysis the homogenized model of MFC sensor was used. Results of the numerical model were then compared with the results of the conducted experiment. The third part presented own design of piezoceramic sensor, which is placed onto most suitable location on a rail. Results from numerical analysis shown eligibility of using piezoceramic sensor to monitor the railway traffic.

The pulverized coal injection (PCI) is widely utilized in the iron-making blast furnaces for its economic and environmental advantages. However, due its complexity, flow dynamics and chemical kinetics of PCI inside the raceway has not been well understood. Combustions of PCI and coke inside the raceway can be influenced by tuyere operation parameters. In this paper, a comprehensive three dimensional (3-D) multiphase flow computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model was utilized to investigate the PCI and coke combustion in the lower part of a blast furnace. Systematic parametric studies were conducted to analyze the effects of the natural gas injection, coal injection, PCI rate, and oxygen enrichment on the combustion performance, which include coal burnt-out rate, coke consumption rate, raceway shape, raceway temperature and etc.

Real-time performance monitoring of coal-fired power plants is becoming very important due to the impending deregulation of the electric power industry. Performance testing is made to be real-time by changing the traditional output loss method to include an estimation of coal composition based on the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) data. This paper illustrates the robustness of the calculations by introducing a variance into each of the calculation inputs to access its effect on the final outputs of heatrate, boiler efficiency and coal flow. Though the original study was over five power plants this paper presents results for the two most diverse coals.

Abstract This study addresses the effects of various parameters on moving axle load identification when vehicles move across a bridge. Main emphases are placed on evaluation of two solutions, pseudo-inverse (PI) and Singular value decomposition (SVD) solutions, to an over-determined set of equations established under the time domain method (TDM) and frequency-time domain method (FTDM). The effects of vehicle-bridge system parameters and of measurement system parameters on the TDM and FTDM are also investigated. Assessment results based on experiments in laboratory show that the TDM is a better and non-sensitive method. The SVD technique can effectively improve identification accuracy when using TDM and FTDM particularly in the case of the FTDM.
