Résumé :
This article focuses on applications of random matrix theory (RMT) to both classical optics and quantum optics, with emphasis on optical systems such as disordered wave guides and chaotic resonators. The discussion centres on topics that do not have an immediate analogue in electronics, either because they cannot readily be measured in the solid state or because they involve aspects (such as absorption, amplification, or bosonic statistics) that do not apply to electrons. The article first considers applications of RMT to classical optics, including optical speckle and coherent backscattering, reflection from an absorbing random medium, long-range wave function correlations in an open resonator, and direct detection of open transmission channels. It then discusses applications to quantum optics, namely: the statistics of grey-body radiation, lasing in a chaotic cavity, and the effect of absorption on the reflection eigenvalue statistics in a multimode wave guide.

Résumé :
Thesis describes the wavelength division multiplexed fiber optic communication systems, i.e., assessment of the development of PON and DCI. Experimentally evaluate the application of spectrally efficient multi-level pulse amplitude modulation formats to increase the performance of PON, DCI and RoF solutions for 5G and beyond implementation. Application of SDM technology for the implementation of a spectrally and spatial efficient wavelength division multiplexed FOTS is evaluated. Spectrally efficient next-generation optical system for the transmission of millimeter-wave radio signals over fiber for cellular mobile communications and new hybrid fiber optic transmission system architecture capable of broadband Internet data transmission and radio signal transmission over single optical fiber was developed. Implementation of a novel type of transmission with a novel WGMR-based Kerr-OFC multi-wave light source are shown and presented for first time.

Résumé :
With the development of fiber optical data transmission technologies and infrastructure on a global scale, the use of fiber optical sensors to perform sensing functions is becoming increasingly important mainly due to their advantages, such as small size, light weight, multiplexing capabilities and others. Therefore, in order to ensure more efficient use of optical sensor technologies, it is necessary to research and search for new solutions for the integration and use of fiber optical sensors in existing and future fiber optical communication system architecture. The main goal of the Doctoral Thesis is to study and evaluate the interaction of FBG fiber optical sensor networks and WDM-PON metro-access transmission systems implemented in a single system with theoretical and experimental research. In order to evaluate their performance in a unified system, a detailed study of the interaction between the FBG optical sensor network and the fiber optic data transmission system has been performed by implementing mathematical modeling and experimental development of such systems.

Résumé :
This article focuses on the phonon transport or thermal transport of small systems, including quasi-one-dimensional systems such as carbon nanotubes. The Fourier law well describes the thermal transport phenomena in normal bulk materials. However, it is no longer valid when the sample dimension reduces down to below the mean-free path of phonons. In such a small system, the phonons propagate coherently without interference with other phonons. The article first considers the Boltzmann–Peierls formula of diffusive phonon transport before discussing coherent phonon transport, with emphasis on the Landauer formulation of phonon transport, ballistic phonon transport and quantized thermal conductance, numerical calculation of the phonon-transmission function, and length dependence of the thermal conductance.

Résumé :
In a perfect optical system, a point source of light is focused onto a single point on the image plane; in the eye, light is focused on the retina. Optical aberrations are caused by imaging system imperfections which cause deviations in the transmission of light, preventing the convergence of light to a single point of focus. In recent years an increased understanding of higher-order wavefront aberrations has allowed improvements in both the measurement and treatment of refractive error. This chapter discusses refractive surgery. It details refractive error, aberrations, and presbyopia, along with preoperative evaluation for refractive surgery, laser refractive surgery, other corneal refractive procedures, refractive lens surgery, intraocular lenses, phakic intraocular lenses, and presbyopia correction.

Résumé :
This article discusses the structure characterizations, magnetic and transport behaviors of the nanoscale ferromagnetic semiconductors Ge1-xMnxTe grown by molecular beam epitaxy with various manganese compositions x ranging from 0.14 to 0.98. After providing an overview of the growth procedure and characterization, the article analyzes the structures of the Ge1-xMnxTe system using X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. It then considers the optical, magnetic and transport properties of the semiconductors and shows that the crystal quality is degraded and the proportion of amorphous phase increases with increasing Mn composition. Nanoclusters and nanoscale grains can be observed when x > 0.24, which greatly affect their magnetic and electronic properties. The magnetic anisotropy is weakened due to different orientations of the clusters embedded in the GeTe host. An anomalous Hall effect is also observed in the samples, which can be attributed to extrinsic skew scattering.
