Résumé :

One of the most effective strategies for modifying the surface properties of nano-fillers and enhancing their composite characteristics is through polymer grafting. In this study, a coprecipitation method was employed to modify hydroxyapatite (HAP) with epoxidized soybean oleic acid (ESOA), resulting in ESOA-HAP. Subsequently, oligomeric poly(lactic acid) (OPLA) was grafted onto the surface of ESOA-HAP, yielding OPLA-ESOA-HAP. HAP, ESOA-HAP, and OPLA-ESOA-HAP were comprehensively characterized. The results demonstrate the progressive grafting of ESOA and OPLA onto the surface of HAP, resulting in enhanced hydrophobicity and improved dispersity in organic solvent for OPLA-ESOA-HAP compared to HAP. The vitality and adhesion of Wistar rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were assessed using HAP and modified HAP materials. Following culture with MSCs for 72 h, the OPLA-ESOA-HAP showed an inhibition rate lower than 23.0% at a relatively high concentration (1.0 mg/mL), which is three times lower compared to HAP under similar condition. The cell number for OPLA-ESOA-HAP was 4.5 times higher compared to HAP, indicating its superior biocompatibility. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of the OPLA-ESOA-HAP/PLLA composite almost remained unaltered ever after undergoing two stages of thermal processing involving melt extrusion and inject molding. The increase in the biocompatibility and relatively high mechanical properties render OPLA-ESOA-HAP/PLLA a potential material for the biodegradable fixation system.

Résumé :

Nerve agents have been used extensively in chemical warfare in the past. However, recent use of Novichok agents have reignited the debate on the threat posed by Organophosphorus Nerve Agents (OPNAs). The currently available therapy for OPNA toxicity is only symptomatic and is potentially ineffective in neutralizing OPNAs. Hence, there is a dire need to develop a prophylactic therapy for counteracting OPNA toxicity. In this regard, human paraoxonase 1 has emerged as the enzyme of choice. In this review, we have focussed upon the recent and past events of OPNA use, their mechanism of action and toxicity. Further, we have emphasized upon the potential of enzyme based therapy and the various advances in the development of paraoxonase 1 as a countermeasure for OPNA poisoning. Finally, we have elaborated the shortcomings of paraoxonase 1 and the work that needs to be undertaken in order to develop human paraoxonase 1 as a prophylactic against OPNA poisoning.

Résumé :

Os impactos gerados pela atividade mineradora de pequena escala abrangem diversas áreas e ocasionam consequências nocivas, concentradas nos âmbitos econômicos, sociais, ambientais e institucionais. Apesar de ser uma atividade extrativista tradicional realizada de maneira artesanal, a Mineração de Pequena Escala da opala presente no município de Pedro II tem causado impactos complexos em áreas diversas os quais têm sido relativizados e tornados invisíveis no contexto local. Este estudo objetiva jogar luz na invisibilidade dos impactos nocivos causados pela atividade minerária da opala no município de Pedro II a partir da perspectiva do desenvolvimento local. Este trabalho constituiu-se numa pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, através do método estudo de caso, apresentando como fonte de dados, artigos, livros, relatórios técnicos, visita in loco e entrevistas semiestruturadas com sujeitos envolvidos na extração, industrialização e comercialização das gemas de opala. Os resultados obtidos indicam a existência de impactos nocivos que alinhados a ineficiência de políticas públicas que integrem a pluralidade dos interesses envolvidos e a inanição dos órgãos de fiscalização e fomento tem favorecido a perpetuação do trabalho informal, a comercialização no mercado paralelo das gemas, a modificação da paisagem e do espaço que termina por comprometer a fauna e flora. Por serem considerado como inerentes a atividade minerária de pequena escala e não próprios da atividade minerária local, os impactos trazidos pela mineração da opala são relativizados e não visíveis como danosos para o contexto local. Tais consequências se configuram como inibidores do desenvolvimento local. Sendo assim, identificar, analisar e jogar luz nos impactos nocivos presentes na mineração da opala são essenciais para o despertar de novas atitudes que venham favorecer do desenvolvimento local. Salienta-se ainda que este estudo visa ainda contribuir para o enriquecimento de discussões mais formais e racionais sobre mineração e desenvolvimento local.

In his contribution, the author presents Conrad of Opole, who was the author of the manuscripts of The Saxon Mirror, prepared for Cracow and Wroclaw (the so-called Versio Wratislaviensis), and then other sources of Magdeburg law (such as the Magdeburg Weichbild). The author of this article concentrates on the creation of these monuments of law, but also on their significance for the development of urban law in Poland as the basis for the location and system of cities in Poland. Moreover, these reflections provide an opportunity to present the mutual relations between Wroclaw and Cracow during their location.

O modelo de funcionamento das cooperativas minerais ainda é uma incógnita na literatura sobre cooperativismo, sendo ainda um hiato entre a teoria e a prática organizacional. Por isso, o objetivo deste estudo foi compreender a dinâmica organização e de gestão da Cooperativa dos Garimpeiros de Pedro II (COOGP). Fez-se um resgate histórico do cooperativismo mineral brasileiro para demonstrar aspectos já revelados em estudos sobre o tema e lançou-se mão de uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa e método de estudo de caso. Para conseguir atingir o objetivo a análise de resultados foi dividida nas seguintes categorias: composição social, relação entre cooperativa e cooperado, e gestão e governança. Os resultados evidenciam que fatores externos influenciaram a constituição da cooperativa. Existe um bom relacionamento entre os atores, evidenciando o respeito entre as partes envolvidas e a legítima cooperação. A gestão administrativa é realizada pelos próprios garimpeiros cooperados e é onde foram identificadas as maiores dificuldades para a cooperativa. Pode-se concluir que a organização e a gestão cooperativa analisada destoa de modelos já identificados em outros estudos e que, no caso da COOGP, é possível inferir que a cooperação pode ser a base de organização da mineração em pequena escala.

It provides specialist, non-partisan legal advice to Parliament on a broad range of parliamentary, constitutional and corporate legal issues. In recent years, the opla has been assigned additional functions within the legislative process, now providing legal policy analysis and legislative drafting services to non-Government Members in respect of private legislative proposals and advising Members in respect of Government Bills. This article will provide a history of the opla, will outline some recent key parliamentary legal issues and will elaborate on the recent development of legislative drafting and advisory services within the Office.

Nadrzędnym celem artykułu jest analiza podstaw źródłowych oraz interpretacyjnych dotyczących tzw. masek z Opola. Przedmioty te na stałe weszły do studiów nad religią przedchrześcijańską Słowian Zachodnich, szybko osiągając status ikonicznych. Tym, co wzbudza zaskoczenie, jest widoczna w literaturze, w zasadzie bezkrytyczna akceptacja identyfikacji obu omawianych przedmiotów, jaką ponad półwiecze temu zaproponowała Helena Cehak-Hołubowiczowa. Żaden z późniejszych autorów nie podjął się polemiki z tymi ustaleniami, co w konsekwencji doprowadziło do ugruntowania badawczego paradygmatu. Maski z Opola stały się również podstawą do rozwijania rozmaitych hipotez dotyczących pogańskich form obrzędowości na ziemiach polskich we wczesnym średniowieczu. W prezentowanym tekście podjęto próbę rewizji dotychczasowych interpretacji oraz krytyki budowanych na jej fundamencie hipotez.

Opole jako stolica regionu, który w przeszłości zmieniał przynależność państwową i zasięg terytorialny, co skutkowało wielokrotnymi przesunięciami granic wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych oraz ulegał przemianom kulturowo-cywilizacyjnym, współcześnie doświadcza gwałtownych przeobrażeń społecznych. Jednym z głównych jego problemów jest niekorzystny przebieg procesów demograficznych na przełomie XX i XXI w., m.in. depopulacja. Aktualny obraz demograficzny miasta ukształtowało wiele czynników występujących w przeszłości, a zwłaszcza po zakończeniu II wojny światowej, których skutki miasto nadal odczuwa. Celem artykułu było ukazanie depopulacji wraz z towarzyszącymi jej negatywnymi zjawiskami i procesami, identyfikacja jej przyczyn i implikacji poprzez analizę potencjału demograficznego, a tym samym wykazanie, że jego dalszy rozwój jest silnie zdeterminowany demograficznie, a brak odpowiednich działań w zakresie wyhamowania niekorzystnych przeobrażeń w liczbie i strukturze ludności oraz łagodzenia ich skutków może doprowadzić do zmiany statusu Opola zarówno jako miasta dużego, jak i miasta wojewódzkiego. Artykuł stanowi studium przypadku. Perspektywa demograficzna opracowania przesądziła o doborze źródeł i literatury.

Organophosphorus neurotoxic agents (OPNAs) seriously damage the nervous system, inhibiting AChE activity and threatening human health and life. Timely and accurate detection of biomarkers in biomedical samples is an important means for identifying OPNA exposure, helping to recognize and clarify its characteristics and providing unambiguous forensic evidence for retrospective research. It is therefore necessary to summarize the varieties of biomarkers, recognize their various characteristics, and understand the principal research methods for these biomarkers in the retrospective detection of OPNA exposure. Common biomarkers include mainly intact agents, degradation products and protein adducts. Direct agent identification in basic experimental research was successfully applied to the detection of free OPNAs, however, this method is not applicable to actual biomedical samples because the high reactivity of OPNAs promotes rapid metabolism. Stepwise degradation products are important targets for retrospective research and are usually analyzed using a GC–MS, or an LC–MS system after derivatization. The smaller window of detection time requires that sampling be accomplished within 48 h, increasing the obstacles to determining OPNA exposure. For this reason, the focus of retrospective identification of OPNA exposure has shifted to protein adducts with a longer lifetime. Compared to the fluoride-induced reactivation method, which cannot be used for aged adducts, digestive peptide analysis is the more elegant method for detecting various adducts, identifying more active sites, exploring potential biomarkers and excavating characteristic ions. Retrospective identification of biomarkers after OPNA poisoning is of primary importance, providing unambiguous evidence for forensic analysis in actual cases and judgment of chemical accidents. At present, degradation products, the nonapeptide from BChE adducts and Y411 from human serum adducts are used successfully in actual cases of OPNA exposure. However, more potential biomarkers are still in the discovery stage, which may prove inconclusive. Therefore, there is an urgent need for research that screens biomarker candidates with high reactivity and good reliability from the potential candidates. In addition, mass spectrometry detection with high resolution and reactivity and an accurate data processing system in the scanning mode must also be further improved for the retrospective identification of unknown agents.

Résumé :

The main aim of the present study is to explore the names of urban sites and interpret them in a historical context. The author tries to examine as many names from the inter-war period as possible, paying particular attention to Polish names. An analysis of Polish and German names has made it possible demonstrate both the structural and the semantic-pragmatic similarity of their types. There are plenty of descriptive types, alongside association-informative names with elements of persuasion and publicity, as well as associations with political, historical, literary or religious content. The analysed urban names make it possible to reconstruct the diversity of the community living in Opole.

Résumé :

The issue of citizen participation at the local level becomes important in the practice of Polish cities. However, it should be noted that the initiatives on participation in social consultations undertaken in this area are of an optional nature. The experiences of individual urban centres regarding the involvement of residents in this type of political participation are probably very diverse. The participation of the local community enables real recognition and taking into account the needs and expectations of the residents regarding shaping their immediate environment. Thus, it influences the improvement of the quality of life and the optimization of the urban offer. Bad experiences from participation may result in weakening the willingness to continue (both by local authorities and residents). To promote good practices, it is therefore necessary to systematize knowledge in the field of research in question. The aim of the article is at least partially to fill the gap in the presented research area, while the research perspective narrows down to the administrative borders of the city of Opole. Due to the diversity of participation categories referring to the term “civic participation”, it should be noted that the content of this article focuses only on two of them, namely the involvement of Opole’s residents in public consultations and the civic budget.

Osteopontin (OPN) spliced variants (OPN-SV: OPNa, OPNb, and OPNc) are aberrantly expressed in tumors and frequently associated with cancer progression. This holds true for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), which is the most common type of thyroid cancer (TC). PTC often presents with desmoplasia and dystrophic calcification, including psammoma bodies (PB). This work aimed to investigate total OPN (tOPN) and OPN-SV expression and their association with the presence of PB in the PTC classical variants (cPTC), as well as the involvement of OPN-SV in matrix calcification of TC cell lines. We found that cPTC samples presenting PB showed higher OPN expression levels. In TC cell lines, OPNa overexpression promotes higher matrix calcification and collagen synthesis when compared to that of clones overexpressing OPNb or OPNc. In response to OPN knockdown, calcification was inhibited, paralleled with the downregulation of calcification markers. In conclusion, our data evidenced that OPN expression is associated with the presence of PB in cPTC samples. Among the OPN-SV, OPNa is the main contributor to matrix calcification in tested TC cells, providing clues to a better understanding on the biology and ethiopathogenesis of the calcification process in TC cells.

Jednym z wskaźników kondycji państwa demokratycznego jest jego stosunek do mniejszości narodowych. Istotny jest wymiar formalny tych relacji, a także funkcjonowanie sfery publicznej. Kluczowa będzie zatem zdolność do efektywnego negocjowania i deliberacji nad kwestiami ważnymi społecznie i budzącymi duże emocje. Naturalną przestrzeń dla takiej debaty stwarzają media. Będąc również uczestnikiem debaty, media pozycjonują strony i wpływają na postawy społeczne wobec dyskutowanych kwestii. Celem badań, których wyniki są prezentowane w niniejszym artykule była analiza medialnego pozycjonowania mniejszości niemieckiej (MN) w ramach sporu o przesunięcie granic Opola. Na Opolszczyźnie zamieszkuje większość polskich Niemców – najliczniejszej mniejszości narodowej w Polsce. Powiększenie miasta Opola o część terenów należących do sąsiednich gmin, w których znaczącą część społeczności stanowiła MN, wzbudziło silne protesty mieszkańców tych gmin i obawy samej MN, że zmiany te niekorzystnie wpłyną na jej pozycję. W badaniach uwzględniono artykuły prasowe, które ukazały się w regionalnych dziennikach wydawanych na Opolszczyźnie. Stosowano narzędzia analizy ilościowej i jakościowej, wykorzystując m.in. metodę ram interpretacyjnych (framing).

The remote sensing imaging environment is complex, in which many factors cause image blur. Thus, without prior knowledge, the restoration model established to obtain clear images can only rely on the observed blurry images. We still build the prior with extreme pixels but no longer traverse all pixels, such as the extreme channels. The features are extracted in units of patches, which are segmented from an image and partially overlap with each other. In this paper, we design a new prior, i.e., overlapped patches’ non-linear (OPNL) prior, derived from the ratio of extreme pixels affected by blurring in patches. The analysis of more than 5000 remote sensing images confirms that OPNL prior prefers clear images rather than blurry images in the restoration process. The complexity of the optimization problem is increased due to the introduction of OPNL prior, which makes it impossible to solve it directly. A related solving algorithm is established based on the projected alternating minimization (PAM) algorithm combined with the half-quadratic splitting method, the fast iterative shrinkage-thresholding algorithm (FISTA), fast Fourier transform (FFT), etc. Numerous experiments prove that this algorithm has excellent stability and effectiveness and has obtained competitive processing results in restoring remote sensing images.

Na Província de San Juan, noroeste da Argentina, ocorre um depósito de bentonitabranca formado a partir de rochas vulcânicas do Neogeno (Formação Las Trancas). Estas rochas foram posteriormente falhadas e intrudidas por diques traquíticos/andesíticos. O depósito se localiza na parte central de uma área elíptica de 10 km2 e se formou pela alteração de vidro riolítico com intercalação de termos vesiculares e fibrosos. Os principais produtos de alteração são montmorilonita, opala C-T e zeolitas. As zonas de maior concentração de montmorilonita são controladas por diques e falhas. A alteração das rochas vulcânicas para bentonita se deu numsistema hidrológico aberto, onde a remoção de Si e de álcalis propiciou a formação de opala C-T e zeolitas, enquanto Mg e H2O foram consumidos na formação de montmorilonita. Durante o processo de alterção, o Th tem baixa mobilidade, Nb e Y são lixiviados, Zr é enriquecido e não há fracionamento de elementos terras raras (ETR). Autor odwołuje się w swoich analizach do założenia, że wspomniany status oznacza obecność na terenie miasta instytucji regionalnych prowadzących samodzielną politykę, która może prowadzić do uprzywilejowanej pozycji miast wojewódzkich w zakresie dostępu do środków finansowych, jakimi dysponują wspomniane instytucje, a także w kontekście budowy atrakcyjności miasta dla biznesu (poprzez sprawne wydawanie decyzji administracyjnych i wysokie kwalifikacje kadr urzędniczych). Identyfikuje też rolę miast o zróżnicowanym statusie administracyjnym w dokumentach strategicznych rangi krajowej, podkreślając, iż może się to przekładać na sposób rozdzielania zasobów rozwojowych przez instytucje centralne. Następnie dokonuje analizy statystycznej opartej na wybranych wskaźnikach wzrostu gospodarczego, porównując kondycję gospodarczą dwóch miast postwojewódzkich (Kalisza i Legnicy) oraz dwóch ośrodków wojewódzkich (Opola i Zielonej Góry). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana peran kelompok tani dan hubungan peran kelompok tani dengan tingkat produktivitas usahatani padi sawah selama pelaksanaan program Optimalisasi Lahan (OPLA) di Kecamatan Tayan Hilir, Kabupaten Sanggau. Metode penelitian dengan wawancara kepada anggota kelompok tani diengan tieknik piengambilan sampiel purposivie sampling, analisis data mienggunakan analisis dieskriptif dan analisis korielasi Rank Spiearman. Hasil pienielitian mienunjukkan bahwa pieran kielompok tani siebagai kielas bielajar, wahana kierjasama dan unit produksi tiermasuk dalam katiegori bierpieran. Hubungan pieran kielompok tani siebagai kielas bielajar dan wahana kierjasama bierhubungan kuat, pieran kielompok tani siebagai unit produksi bierpieran siedang dalam mieningkatkan produktivitas usahatani padi sawah.

Artykuł podejmuje próbę spojrzenia na proces suburbanizacji oraz relacje miasta centralnego i strefy podmiejskiej z punktu widzenia polityki terytorialnej i procesu powiększania granic administracyjnych miast. Główny akcent położono na uwarunkowania prawne inkorporacji przedmieść i prawo samorządów lokalnych do ochrony własnych granic. Na podstawie analizy prawa europejskiego i krajowego stwierdzono luki prawne w postępowaniu administracyjnym, które mogą powodować upowszechnienie się aneksji przedmieść i podważanie prawa społeczności lokalnych do ochrony granic terytorialnych. Jako studium przypadku zaprezentowano proces powiększenia granic Opola, zwieńczony przychylną dla władz miasta decyzją Rady Ministrów, wbrew woli społeczności lokalnych gmin podmiejskich. Decyzja ta wywołała konflikt społeczny, u którego źródeł leżą zarówno deficyty prawne, różne interesy ekonomiczne, jak i niedostateczny dialog pomiędzy zainteresowanymi samorządami. Artykuł kończą wnioski i rekomendacje dotyczące bardziej systemowego rozwiązywania problemów zmian terytorialnych i zwiększenia transparentności podejmowanych w tej sprawie decyzji.

Funkcjonujące od 1954 r. opolskie środowisko studenckie odgrywało bardzo ważną, lecz niejednoznaczną rolę w życiu społecznym. Należało do najważniejszych źródeł kadr dla komunistycznego aparatu władzy, ale bywało też bazą działalności o charakterze opozycyjnym. Stałym źródłem problemów dla władz komunistycznych była oprócz tego religijna aktywność dużej części studentów. W październiku 1956 r. opolscy studenci aktywnie występowali na rzecz demokratyzacji życia politycznego w Polsce. W późniejszym czasie władze komunistyczne zabiegały, aby jak największa liczba studentów była zrzeszona w szeregach Polskiej Zjednoczonej Partii oraz koncesjonowanych organizacji młodzieżowych. Odniesione w tej dziedzinie sukcesy nie zapobiegły jednak udziałowi opolskich studentów w ogólnopolskiej akcji protestacyjnej w marcu 1968 r. Władze komunistyczne odpowiedziały represjami wobec studentów. Zdławienie studenckiego protestu było jednak bardzo problematycznym zwycięstwem komunistów. University circles in Opole versus the communist authorities in the years 1954–1968 University students’ circles in Opole, which existed from 1954, played an important, yet ambiguous role in the local social life. For communist authorities, the university was one of the most important sources for procuring staff, but it was also a base for anti-government activities. The religious activity of many students was also a constant source of problems for the communist authorities. In October 1956, students in Opole vigorously demonstrated their support for the democratization of political life in Poland. In subsequent years, the communist authorities made efforts to attract as many students as possible to the Polish United Workers’ Party and politically approved youth organizations. Success in this respect did not discourage students in Opole from participating in the national protests of March 1968. As a consequence, students were subjected to repressions. However, the suppression of student protests remained a bitter victory for communists.

BackgroundOsteopontin (OPN) or secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) is a matricellular glycoprotein whose expression is elevated in various types of cancer and has been shown to be involved in tumourigenesis and metastasis in many malignancies, including follicular cell-derived thyroid carcinomas. Its role in C-cell-derived thyroid lesions and tumours remains to be established.ObjectiveThe objective of this study is to clarify the role of OPN expression in the development of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).MethodsOPN expression was analysed in a series of 116 MTCs by immunohistochemistry and by qPCR mRNA quantification of the 3 OPN isoforms (OPNa, OPNb and OPNc) in six cases from which fresh frozen tissue was available. Statistical tests were used to evaluate the relationship of OPN expression and the clinicopathological and molecular characteristics of patients and tumours.ResultsOPN expression was detected in 91 of 116 (78.4%) of the MTC. We also observed high OPN expression in C-cell hyperplasia as well as in C-cells scattered in the thyroid parenchyma adjacent to the tumours. OPN expression was significantly associated with smaller tumour size, PTEN nuclear expression and RAS status, and suggestively associated with non-invasive tumours. OPNa isoform was expressed significantly at higher levels in tumours than in non-tumour samples. OPNb and OPNc presented similar levels of expression in all samples. Furthermore, OPNa isoform overexpression was significantly associated with reduced growth and viability in the MTC-derived cell line (TT).ConclusionThe expression of OPN in normal C-cells and C-cell hyperplasia suggests that OPN is a differentiation marker of C-cells, rather than a marker of biological aggressiveness in this setting. At variance with other cancers, OPN expression is associated with good prognostic features in MTC.

Organophosphorus nerve agents (OPNAs) are highly toxic compounds inhibiting cholinergic enzymes in the central and autonomic nervous systems and neuromuscular junctions, causing severe intoxications in humans. Medical countermeasures and efficient decontamination solutions are needed to counteract the toxicity of a wide spectrum of harmful OPNAs including G, V and Novichok agents. Here, we describe the use of engineered OPNA-degrading enzymes for the degradation of various toxic agents including insecticides, a series of OPNA surrogates, as well as real chemical warfare agents (cyclosarin, sarin, soman, tabun, VX, A230, A232, A234). We demonstrate that only two enzymes can degrade most of these molecules at high concentrations (25 mM) in less than 5 min. Using surface assays adapted from NATO AEP-65 guidelines, we further show that enzyme-based solutions can decontaminate 97.6% and 99.4% of 10 g∙m−2 of soman- and VX-contaminated surfaces, respectively. Finally, we demonstrate that these enzymes can degrade ethyl-paraoxon down to sub-inhibitory concentrations of acetylcholinesterase, confirming their efficacy from high to micromolar doses.

It is important to understand the correlates of children’s physical activity (PA) and sitting at home, where children spend significant time. The home social environment has an important influence; however, much less is known about the home physical environment. Therefore, the study aimed to assess relationships between the physical environment and children’s sitting and PA at home. In total, 235 child-parent dyads were included in the analyses. Children spent 67% of their time at home sitting. Linear regression analyses examined associations between physical home environmental factors obtained via an audit and children’s (55% girl, 10.2 ± 0.7) objective PA and sitting at home. Following adjustment for socio-demographics and social environmental factors, an open plan living area (OPLA), musical instrument accessibility and availability, and perceived house size were negatively and positively associated, whereas media equipment accessibility and availability was positively and negatively associated with sitting and standing, respectively. Additionally, an OPLA was positively associated with total and moderate-to-vigorous PA. Furthermore, sitting breaks were positively associated with objective garden size and negatively associated with digital TV. The physical home environment may have an important influence on children’s sitting, standing and PA at home; therefore, interventions that target this environment are needed.

A indústria de mineração constitui peça-chave para as estratégias econômicas e o desenvolvimento de um estado. O Brasil tem uma riqueza mineral expressiva, na qual prevalece a mineração de pequena escala, contribuindo para a superação da pobreza nas regiões onde ocorrem as jazidas, mediante geração de renda, empregos e encadeamento com outras atividades produtivas locais. No entanto, tal atividade é caracterizada pela informalidade e pela precariedade em termos de qualificação profissional dos mineradores e das condições tecnológicas de extração, beneficiamento, lapidação, transformação e comercialização. Para melhorar as condições locais de extração e comercialização, as empresas envolvidas se organizam em APL (Arranjo Produtivo Local), um conjunto de atores econômicos, políticos e sociais, localizados em uma mesma região, desenvolvendo atividades produtivas especializadas em um determinado setor e que apresentam vínculos expressivos de produção, interação, cooperação e aprendizagem. O presente estudo tem como objetivo apresentar a cadeia de suprimentos da opala, um dos minérios mais apreciados em todo o mundo por sua beleza singular e raridade, especialmente quando apresentam jogos de cores, o que torna o seu valor comercial ainda maior. A pesquisa se caracteriza por ser exploratória e descritiva. Pode-se também ser caracterizado como um estudo de caso com enfoque qualitativo na cadeia de suprimentos da opala, elemento principal do referido APL de base mineral. Concluiu-se que a cadeia apresenta vários gargalos, dentre eles a falta de implantação de técnicas inovadoras, um processo ainda rudimentar e artesanal, a falta de investimentos e patrocínios, o que causa desestruturação da cadeia, além da desvalorização das gemas.

Résumé :

Uporaba antičnih imen, znakov in podob dobiva v Sloveniji po osamosvojitvi drugačen pomen. Antiko je vzelo "za svojo" tako potrošništvo kot zdraviliški turizem. Analiza primerov iz Slovenije je pokazala na trend "rimskih prostorov" v zdraviliščih in wellness centrih. Po vzoru iz tujine je v zadnjem desetletju "rimski trend" postal v Sloveniji zelo popularen predvsem v opremljanju savn. Zdravilišča so se v posnemanju oprla na institucijo rimskih term ter prevzela določene prostore, npr. tepidarij kot največkrat zastopani sodoben "rimski" prostor. Značilnost sodobnih rimskih savn je mešanje rimskih, grških, predvsem pa sodobnih elementov v temperaturi, načinu ogrevanja in dekoraciji prostorov.

W 1971 r. władze Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej wdrożyły nową strategię gospodarczą, określaną jako strategia dynamicznego rozwoju. Strategia ta, przewidująca szybki rozwój potencjału przemysłowego kraju w połączeniu z poprawą materialnych warunków życia społeczeństwa, zaowocowała również społeczno-gospodarczym rozwojem Opola. Miasto rozrosło się w sensie przestrzennym i demograficznym. Wzbogaciło się o nowe mieszkania i miejsca pracy. Rozwój miasta był jednak wybitnie nierównomierny. W latach 1971–1980 i później zmarnowano ogromną ilość środków finansowych i materialnych na przedsięwzięcia, których nigdy w pełni nie sfinalizowano bądź doprowadzono do końca z dużym opóźnieniem. Niektóre decyzje w sprawie nowych inwestycji okazały się z czasem źle pomyślane. Inwestycje z lat 1971– 1980, oprócz oczywistych korzyści dla miasta, zrodziły również szereg poważnych problemów społecznych. Dziedzictwo to w niejednym przypadku nadal jeszcze bardzo ciąży miastu i jego mieszkańcom. The strategy of dynamic growth — social and economic growth in Opole in the years 1971–1980 In 1971 the authorities of the Polish People’s Republic implemented a new economic strategy, referred to as the strategy of dynamic growth. The strategy, which assumed rapid industrial growth in combination with an improvement in the living conditions for the general society, resulted in social and economic development, also in the city of Opole. The city grew both in territorial and demographic terms, gaining more housing resources and more jobs. However, this growth was extremely uneven. In the years 1971–1980 and later, enormous amounts of money and materials were wasted on ventures which were significantly delayed or never completed. In hindsight, some decisions regarding new investments turned out to be misguided. On the one hand, investments from the years 1971–1980 benefited the city, but on the other, they caused a number of serious social problems. In many cases, this legacy is still an enormous burden for the city and its residents.

Konferencja naukowa pod tytułem "Klasztor w społeczeństwie średniowiecznym i nowożytnym" odbyła się w dniach 9-11 maja 1996 roku w Turawie koło Opola. Wydarzenie zorganizowane zostało przez Instytut Historii Uniwersytetu Opolskiego oraz Instytut Historii Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego. Było to drugie spotkanie historyków na ten temat. Podczas konferencji omówiono szereg tematów związanych z rolą klasztorów w społeczeństwie średniowiecznym i nowożytnym. Bert Demyttenaere z Amsterdamu podzielił się refleksjami na temat monastycyzmu i procesów cywilizacyjnych. Następnie referaty dotyczyły m.in. monastycyzmu w Polsce, związków klasztorów mniszych i kanonickich z kapitułami katedralnymi, oraz roli klasztorów żeńskich. Przedstawiono także relacje klasztorów z lokalną społecznością świecką oraz problem rekrutacji i społecznego oddziaływania klasztorów na Górnym Śląsku. W kolejnych sekcjach omówiono zagadnienia związane z wizualnymi środkami komunikacji, herby miast klasztornych, przedstawienia pasyjne w średniowiecznych klasztorach, genezę ornamentu architektonicznego w polskiej architekturze cysterskiej, czy też szkolnictwo zakonne w Czechach przed husytyzmem. Podczas obrad plenarnych poruszono kwestie takie jak funkcje militarne klasztorów w średniowiecznej Małopolsce oraz przedstawiono wyniki najnowszych badań archeologicznych nad klasztorem cystersów w Jędrzejowie. Dyskusja plenarna zakończyła konferencję. Konferencja ta stanowiła istotne forum dyskusji dla badaczy zainteresowanych historią klasztorów i ich roli w społeczeństwie średniowiecznym i nowożytnym.

Résumé :

Diisopropylfluorophosphate (DFP), an organophosphate nerve agent (OPNA), exposure causes status epilepticus (SE) and epileptogenesis. In this study, we tested the protective effects of saracatinib (AZD0530), a Src kinase inhibitor, in mixed-sex or male-only Sprague Dawley rats exposed to 4–5 mg/kg DFP followed by 2 mg/kg atropine and 25 mg/kg 2-pralidoxime. Midazolam (3 mg/kg) was given to the mixed-sex cohort (1 h post-DFP) and male-only cohort (~30 min post-DFP). Saracatinib (20 mg/kg, oral, daily for 7 days) or vehicle was given two hours later and euthanized eight days or ten weeks post-DFP. Brain immunohistochemistry (IHC) showed increased microgliosis, astrogliosis, and neurodegeneration in DFP-treated animals. In the 10-week post-DFP male-only group, there were no significant differences between groups in the novel object recognition, Morris water maze, rotarod, or forced swim test. Brain IHC revealed significant mitigation by saracatinib in contrast to vehicle-treated DFP animals in microgliosis, astrogliosis, neurodegeneration, and nitro-oxidative stressors, such as inducible nitric oxide synthase, GP91phox, and 3-Nitrotyrosine. These findings suggest the protective effects of saracatinib on brain pathology seem to depend on the initial SE severity. Further studies on dose optimization, including extended treatment regimen depending on the SE severity, are required to determine its disease-modifying potential in OPNA models.

Detailed tephrochronological studies in Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia, permitted documentation of 24 Holocene key-marker tephra layers related to the largest explosive eruptions from 11 volcanic centers. Each layer was traced for tens to hundreds of kilometers away from the source volcano; its stratigraphic position, area of dispersal, age, characteristic features of grain-size distribution, and chemical and mineral composition confirmed its identification. The most important marker tephra horizons covering a large part of the peninsula are (from north to south; ages given in14C yr B.P.) SH2(≈1000 yr B.P.) and SH3(≈1400 yr B.P.) from Shiveluch volcano; KZ (≈7500 yr B.P.) from Kizimen volcano; KRM (≈7900 yr B.P.) from Karymsky caldera; KHG (≈7000 yr B.P.) from Khangar volcano; AV1(≈3500 yr B.P.), AV2(≈4000 yr B.P.), AV4(≈5500 yr B.P.), and AV5(≈5600 yr B.P.) from Avachinsky volcano; OP (≈1500 yr B.P.) from the Baraniy Amfiteatr crater at Opala volcano; KHD (≈2800 yr B.P.) from the “maar” at Khodutka volcano; KS1(≈1800 yr B.P.) and KS2(≈6000 yr B.P.) from the Ksudach calderas; KSht3(A.D. 1907) from Shtyubel cone in Ksudach volcanic massif; and KO (≈7700 yr B.P.) from the Kuril Lake-Iliinsky caldera. Tephra layers SH5(≈2600 yr B.P.) from Shiveluch volcano, AV3(≈4500 yr B.P.) from Avachinsky volcano, OPtr(≈4600 yr B.P.) from Opala volcano, KS3(≈6100 yr B.P.) and KS4(≈8800 yr B.P.) from Ksudach calderas, KSht1(≈1100 yr B.P.) from Shtyubel cone, and ZLT (≈4600 yr B.P.) from Iliinsky volcano cover smaller areas and have local stratigraphic value, as do the ash layers from the historically recorded eruptions of Shiveluch (SH1964) and Bezymianny (B1956) volcanoes. The dated tephra layers provide a record of the most voluminous explosive events in Kamchatka during the Holocene and form a tephrochronological timescale for dating and correlating various deposits.
