Shwachman–Diamond syndrome (SDS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by bone marrow failure, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and skeletal abnormalities, caused by loss-of-function mutations in the SBDS gene, a factor involved in ribosome biogenesis. By analyzing osteoblasts from SDS patients (SDS-OBs), we show that SDS-OBs displayed reduced SBDS gene expression and reduced/undetectable SBDS protein compared to osteoblasts from healthy subjects (H-OBs). SDS-OBs cultured in an osteogenic medium displayed a lower mineralization capacity compared to H-OBs. Whole transcriptome analysis showed significant differences in the gene expression of SDS-OBs vs. H-OBs, particularly in the ossification pathway. SDS-OBs expressed lower levels of the main genes responsible for osteoblastogenesis. Of all downregulated genes, Western blot analyses confirmed lower levels of alkaline phosphatase and collagen type I in SDS-OBs than in H-OBs. Interestingly, SDS-OBs showed higher protein levels of p53, an inhibitor of osteogenesis, compared to H-OBs. Silencing of Tp53 was associated with higher collagen type I and alkaline phosphatase protein levels and an increase in SDS-OB mineralization capacity. In conclusion, our results show that the reduced capacity of SDS-OBs to mineralize is mediated, at least in part, by the high levels of p53 and highlight an important role of SBDS in osteoblast functions.

Helicoverpa armigera single nucleopolyhedrovirus (HearSNPV) is a virulent pathogen of lepidopterans in the genera Heliothis and Helicoverpa, whereas Helicoverpa armigera multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (HearSNPV) is a different virus species with a broader host range. This study aimed to examine the consequences of coocclusion of HearSNPV and HearMNPV on the pathogenicity, stability and host range of mixed-virus occlusion bodies (OBs). HearSNPV OBs were approximately 6-fold more pathogenic than HearMNPV OBs, showed faster killing by approximately 13 h, and were approximately 45% more productive in terms of OB production per larva. For coocclusion, H. armigera larvae were first inoculated with HearMNPV OBs and subsequently inoculated with HearSNPV OBs at intervals of 0–72 h after the initial inoculation. When the interval between inoculations was 12–24 h, OBs collected from virus-killed insects were found to comprise 41–57% of HearSNPV genomes, but the prevalence of HearSNPV genomes was greatly reduced (3–4%) at later time points. Quantitative PCR (qPCR) analysis revealed the presence of HearSNPV genomes in a small fraction of multinucleocapsid ODVs representing 0.47–0.88% of the genomes quantified in ODV samples, indicating that both viruses had replicated in coinfected host cells. End-point dilution assays on ODVs from cooccluded mixed-virus OBs confirmed the presence of both viruses in 41.9–55.6% of wells that were predicted to have been infected by a single ODV. A control experiment indicated that this result was unlikely to be due to the adhesion of HearSNPV ODVs to HearMNPV ODVs or accidental contamination during ODV band extraction. Therefore, the disparity between the qPCR and end-point dilution estimates of the prevalence of mixed-virus ODVs likely reflected virus-specific differences in replication efficiency in cell culture and the higher infectivity of pseudotyped ODVs that were produced in coinfected parental cells. Bioassays on H. armigera, Spodoptera frugiperda and Mamestra brassicae larvae revealed that mixed-virus OBs were capable of infecting heterologous hosts, but relative potency values largely reflected the proportion of HearMNPV present in each mixed-virus preparation. The cooccluded mixtures were unstable in serial passage; HearSNPV rapidly dominated during passage in H. armigera whereas HearMNPV rapidly dominated during passage in the heterologous hosts. We conclude that mixed-virus coocclusion technology may be useful for producing precise mixtures of viruses with host range properties suitable for the control of complexes of lepidopteran pests in particular crops, although this requires validation by field testing.

ORF100 (ha100) of Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus (HearNPV) has been reported as one of the unique genes of group II alphabaculoviruses encoding a protein located in the occlusion-derived virus (ODV) envelope and nucleocapsid. The protein consists of 510 aa with a predicted mass of 58.1 kDa and is a homologue of poly(ADP–ribose) glycohydrolase in eukaryotes. Western blot analysis detected a 60 kDa band in HearNPV-infected HzAM1 cells starting at 18 h post-infection. Transient expression of GFP-fused HA100 in HzAM1 cells resulted in cytoplasmic localization of the protein, but after superinfection with HearNPV, GFP-fused HA100 was localized in the nucleus. To study the function of HA100 further, an ha100-null virus was constructed using bacmid technology. Viral one-step growth curve analyses showed that the ha100-null virus had similar budded virus production kinetics to that of the parental virus. Electron microscopy revealed that deletion of HA100 did not alter the morphology of ODVs or occlusion bodies (OBs). However, bioassays in larvae showed that the 50 % lethal concentration (LC50) value of HA100-null OBs was significantly higher than that of parental OBs; the median lethal time (LT50) of ha100-null OBs was about 24 h later than control virus. These results indicate that HA100 is not essential for virus replication in vitro. However, it significantly affects the oral infectivity of OBs in host insects, suggesting that the association HA100 with the ODV contributes to the infectivity of OBs in vivo.

Helicoverpa zea (Boddie) and Heliothis virescens (F.), reared on different cotton structures, were studied for larval growth and development, susceptibility to H. zea nucleopolyhedrovirus (HzNPV), and production of occluded virus (OBs). Larval weight of both species after 10 d of rearing differed with larvae on artificial diet having the highest weight and those on square bracts the lowest weight. In both species, pupal weight and length of pupal developmental period were positively correlated with the larval weight, but length of the larval developmental period was negatively correlated with larval weight. Mortality from virus infection of H. zea and H. virescens larvae on squares, square bracts or flowers did not differ significantly among the structures. In both species, the number of viral OBs produced was greater in larvae fed flowers than those fed other structures and was positively correlated with the weight gained by a healthy larva on that plant structure. The mean LC50 for OBs produced in H. zea or H. virescens larvae on square, square bract or flower did not differ significantly. These results indicate that dietary difference in fruiting structures of cotton plants directly affects H. zea and H. virescens larval growth and development and indirectly affects the production of virus by HzNPV-infected larvae.

Despite core banking, banks also engage in off-balance-sheet (OBS) market activities. In many developed banking industries, OBS activities have grown to be significant during the last two decades. This paper provides rather scarce evidence on the competitiveness among banks for OBS activities and its impact on the degree of banking sector competition in Sri Lanka. Panzar-Ross H statistic approach employing in this study to estimate bank competition used a comprehensive set of bank-level data of the whole commercial banking sector in Sri Lanka covering the period 1996-2018. The first-round analysis of the study uncovers substantial differences among banks concerning the OBS activities. EGLS panel estimation procedure applied in this study provides evidence for a lower level of competitiveness among Sri Lankan banks for OBS activities. More interestingly, the findings further reveal that the degree of competitiveness for OBS activities has a significant positive impact on the overall competitiveness of the banking sector in Sri Lanka. These results suggest banking institutions re-visit their business models with greater emphasis on nonconventional banking activities in enhancing bank-level efficiency and hence positively contributing to the overall competitiveness of the banking sector.

Miniature devices are becoming increasingly demanded as fifth-generation (5G) technology is been deployed. This has necessitated the need to miniaturize all the various components of 5G enabling systems. It is a well-known fact that without the antenna, there is no wireless communication as it forms the link between the space and the wired network. Hence, the miniaturization of the antenna will contribute to the miniaturization of the entire wireless system. In this work, a miniature dual-band ultracompact antenna based on an opened-B-shaped (OBS) patch, a partial ground, and a ground protruding stub is presented. The antenna size is 0.14 × 0.07 λ o λ o @ 1.85 G H z . The proposed antenna is etched on a rogers (RT5880) substrate and fed with a 50 Ω asymmetric microstrip feedline. The proposed OBS antenna is fabricated and measured. In addition, the equivalent circuit of the proposed OBS antenna is designed and analyzed using AWR®. The antenna operates at a center frequency of 1.85 GHz and 5.89 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 10.41% and 36.29%, respectively, which means that the first and second bands are narrow and wide bands, respectively. Furthermore, the mean peak gain of the proposed OBS antenna at lower and upper bands are 4.1 dB and 3.95 dB, respectively. More so, the radiation pattern antenna shows a quasiomnidirectional at E-plane and omnidirectional at H-plane. There is a good agreement between simulated and measured results. Therefore, the proposed OBS antenna is a suitable candidate for future portable mobile devices.

ABSTRACTAChrysodeixis chalcitessingle-nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus wild-type isolate from the Canary Islands, Spain, named ChchSNPV-TF1 (ChchTF1-wt), appears to have great potential as the basis for a biological insecticide for control of the pest. An improved understanding of the genotypic structure of this wild-type strain population should facilitate the selection of genotypes for inclusion in a bioinsecticidal product. Eight genetically distinct genotypes were clonedin vitro: ChchTF1-A to ChchTF1-H. Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) analysis confirmed that ChchTF1-A accounted for 36% of the genotypes in the wild-type population. In bioassays, ChchTF1-wt occlusion bodies (OBs) were significantly more pathogenic than any of the component single-genotype OBs, indicating that genotype interactions were likely responsible for the pathogenicity phenotype of wild-type OBs. However, the wild-type population was slower killing and produced higher OB yields than any of the single genotypes alone. These results strongly suggested that the ChchTF1-wt population is structured to maximize its transmission efficiency. Experimental OB mixtures and cooccluded genotype mixtures containing the most abundant and the rarest genotypes, at frequencies similar to those at which they were isolated, revealed a mutualistic interaction that restored the pathogenicity of OBs. In OB and cooccluded mixtures containing only the most abundant genotypes, ChchTF1-ABC, OB pathogenicity was even greater than that of wild-type OBs. The ChchTF1-ABC cooccluded mixture killed larvae 33 h faster than the wild-type population and remained genotypically and biologically stable throughout five successive passagesin vivo. In conclusion, the ChchTF1-ABC mixture shows great potential as the active ingredient of a bioinsecticide to controlC. chalcitesin the Canary Islands.

ABSTRACT The genome of Spodoptera frugiperda multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) was inserted into a bacmid (Sfbac) and used to produce a mutant lacking open reading frame 29 (Sf29null). Sf29null bacmid DNA was able to generate an infection in S. frugiperda. Approximately six times less DNA was present in occlusion bodies (OBs) produced by the Sf29null bacmid in comparison to viruses containing this gene. This reduction in DNA content was consistent with fewer virus particles being packaged within Sf29null bacmid OBs, as determined by fractionation of dissolved polyhedra and comparison of occlusion-derived virus (ODV) infectivity in cell culture. DNA from Sfbac, Sf29null, or Sf29null-repair, in which the gene deletion had been repaired, were equally infectious when used to transfect S. frugiperda. All three viruses produced similar numbers of OBs, although those from Sf29null were 10-fold less infectious than viruses with the gene. Insects infected with Sf29null bacmid died ∼24 h later than positive controls, consistent with the reduced virus particle content of Sf29null OBs. Transcripts from Sf29 were detected in infected insects 12 h prior to those from the polyhedrin gene. Homologs to Sf29 were present in other group II NPVs, and similar sequences were present in entomopoxviruses. Analysis of the Sf29 predicted protein sequence revealed signal peptide and transmembrane domains, but the presence of 12 potential N-glycosylation sites suggest that it is not an ODV envelope protein. Other motifs, including zinc-binding and threonine-rich regions, suggest degradation and adhesion functions. We conclude that Sf29 is a viral factor that determines the number of ODVs occluded in each OB.

The enhancement of nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) activity by Tinopal® LPW (Tinopal), a stilbene fluorescent brightener, was compared in Helicoverpa zea (Boddie) and Pseudoplusia includens (Walker) using an on-diet bioassay method. Enhancement of the homologous NPV of each species was compared with three heterologous NPV that have a broad host range. In H. zea, the LC50 of H. zea NPV (HzSNPV) alone was 128 occlusion bodies (OBs)/cup, and the LC50 of it and Heliothis armigera NPV (HaMNPV) did not differ significantly. The activity of both viruses improved 18.6 fold when the OB suspension contained 1.0% Tinopal. The LC50s of Autographa californica NPV (AcMNPV) and Anagrapha falcifera NPV (AfMNPV) without Tinopal in H. zea were greater than that of HzSNPV. However, the increase in activity of AcMNPV and AfMNPV at the highest concentrations of Tinopal was two to three fold greater than the increase in activity of HzSNPV. The LC50 of P. includens NPV (PiSNPV) (856 OBs/cup) alone in P. includens was similar to that of AfMNPV and AcMNPV, and much less than that of HaMNPV (19,947 OBs/cup). The addition of Tinopal to the treatment suspension of all four viruses resulted in significantly lower LC50s at all Tinopal concentrations in P. includens. The highest concentration of Tinopal (1.0%) in the OB suspension lowered the LC50 of PiSNPV by 142.7 and AfMNPV by 89.7 fold. Tinopal in the OB suspension lowered the LC50 of AcMNPV and HaMNPV, but they remained less effective than PiSNPV with Tinopal. HaMNPV at all concentrations of Tinopal was much less active in P. includens than the other viruses with or without Tinopal.

Cygnus OB2 is an OB association located in the direction of the Local Spiral Arm, harbouring some of the most massive and luminous stars in the Galaxy. Studying its high mass population, we learned that it is a rich star forming region, localized behind a dust cloud which is responsible for the high extinction measured in that area of the sky (10 - 20MV). Its estimated age of 3Myr makes it an appropriate target fot studying young stars. We performed a photometric variability survey in this region using near infrared lters (JHK), with the Wide Field Camera (WFCAM) of the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT), during 112 nights, unevenly spaced in a period of 217 days. A total area of 52'; 96' x 52'; 96 was covered with Cygnus OB2 in its center. The central region of the observed area (1/16 of the total data) was organized as a light curve catalogue. According to light curve characteristics objects with high lter correlation were selected. Provisional classication was applied according to variability type, using known techniques for discrete time series analysis like Fourier decomposition, graphic cross correlation and deviation between lters, phase dispersion and least square fitting. We present here the implementation and use of such techniques. In case of periodic variability we performed period and amplitude measurements.
Cygnus OB2 é uma associação de estrelas OB localizada no Braço Espiral Local, a qual contém alguns dos objetos mais massivos e brilhantes conhecidos na Galáxia. A partir de estudos sobre suas estrelas mais massivas, sabe-se que a associação é uma rica região de formação estelar localizada atrás de uma nuvem de poeira causadora de alta extinção (com valores chegando a 10 - 20MV), com idade de 3 milhões de anos, o que a torna um alvo muito adequado para estudos de formação e evolução estelar. Realizamos um levantamento de variabilidade fotométrica em infravermelho monitorando a associação através de exposições curtas em J, H e K utilizando a Wide Field Camera (WFCAM), atualmente instalada no United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT), por 112 noites cobrindo um intervalo de 217 dias. Foi coberta uma área total de 52'; 96' x 52'; 96 a partir do centro da associação. Os dados da região central da associação, correspondentes a 1/16 da área observada, foram organizados em um catálogo de curvas de luz. Baseando-se em características das curvas de luz, objetos que apresentavam variabilidade fotométrica correlacionada nas três bandas foram selecionados. Uma classicação provisória do tipo de variabilidade foi feita utilizando os resultados da aplicação de técnicas para o tratamento de séries temporais discretas como a análise do espectro de Fourier, grácos de correlação cruzada e desvio entre ltros, dispersão em fase e ajuste por mínimos quadrados. No caso de variabilidade periódica, períodos e amplitudes foram obtidas a partir de tais técnicas.

Il presente lavoro è frutto di un’intensa attività di ricerca iniziata nel 2005 e condotta in collaborazione con il l’OBS Lab di Gibilmanna dell’Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (Centro Nazionale Terremoti). L’INGV è l’ente nazionale preposto al monitoraggio sismico del territorio italiano. La RSNC-INGV, costituita da oltre 300 stazioni a terra, permette un ottimo monitoraggio delle solo sismicità onshore. I principale obiettivo di tale collaborazione è stata la progettazione, lo sviluppo e il test di una strumentazione tecnologicamente avanzata per il monitoraggio dell’attività sismica sottomarina. Tale attività portata a termine già nel 2006, ha portato alla costruzione di un prototipo di OBS/H (Ocean Bottom Seismometer with Hydrophone), il primo interamente progettato e costruito in Italia. La costruzione di tale OBS/H ha permesso di estendere a mare la RSNC-INGV “allungandone la capacità di veduta, prima corta d’una spanna, ad alcune miglia”. Numerose sono state le campagna oceanografiche che tra il 2006 e il 2010 hanno portato l’OBS Lab di Gibilmanna alla deposizione di diversi OBS/H nel Mediterrraneo. La prima campagna condotta nel luglio del 2006, ha portato alla deposizione del prototipo su una spianata sottomarina del vulcano Marsili. Questo primo esperimento, durato solo 9 giorni, ha permesso di testare il corretto funzionamento del prototipo di OBS/H e di rilevare una intensa attività sismica imputabile al vulcano sottomarino Marsili. Gli eccellenti risultati ottenuti in questa prima campagna, hanno portato al realizzazione di un gruppo di ben 8 OBS/H, utilizzati in numerose campagne oceanografiche successive. Già nel 2007, nell’ambito del progetto NERIES, tre OBS/H furono depositati nell’Ionio Meridionale con l’obbiettivo di monitorare per ben tre anni l’attività sismica poco conosciuta di tale area. Nel 2008, nell’ambito del progetto S5 vengono deposti ben 5 OBS/H, due sul Tirreno e 3 nello Ionio, con l’obbiettivo di infittire a mare la rete di monitoraggio sismico installata tra Messina e Reggio Calabria. A febbraio del 2010 infine sono stati depositati ben 5 OBS/H, lungo una linea perpendicolare allo slab tirrenico ed uno a Nord di Alicudi per contribuire ad una migliore definizione degli epicentri e dei meccanismi focali di alcuni eventi che da mesi interessano quest’area. Il presente lavoro è stato diviso in 5 capitoli; ognuno di questi presenta i risultati di attività di ricerca, che seppure nell’insieme collegate al tema principale del presente lavoro, risultano indipendenti. Nel primo capitolo viene presentato un nuovo metodo per l’analisi delle performance di localizzazione di una rete sismica. Tale metodo denominato SNES (Seismic Networks Evaluation through Simulation) è stato applicato alla RSNC-INGV è ha permesso di individuare area sismogenetiche e ad elevato rischio sismico del territorio italiano non adeguatamente coperte. Inoltre ha permesso di quantificare l’importanza dell’estensione a mare dalla RSNC-INGV tramite OBS/H. Nel secondo capitolo, dopo una breve cronologia che giustifica la necessità da parte dell’INGV di dotarsi di un gruppo di OBS/H, viene descritto dettagliatamente tale stazione sismica sottomarina, motivandone la scelta dei vari strumenti ivi installati e i vari test condotti per verificarne il corretto funzionamento e le prestazioni. Il terzo capitolo mostra i risultati ottenuti dall’analisi dei segnali sismici e di pressione registrati durante le prima campagna svoltasi sul vulcano sottomarino Marsili. Durante tale esperimento sono stati registrati oltre un migliaio di eventi sismici che in questo capitolo sono stati analizzati e classificati mediante strumenti matematici sviluppati in itinere. Il terzo capitolo descrive i risultati delle due campagna svoltesi nell’ambito del progetto NERIES e S5. Tale analisi ha permesso di meglio definire la sismicità dell’area Ionica tramite la localizzazione di numerosi eventi non rilevati dalla rete sismica. Inoltre in tale capitolo viene descritta la campagna PANSTR10 appena conclusasi che ha portato alla deposizione di 5 OBS/H. Infine nel quinto capitolo, saranno descritte alcune attività di ricerca collaterali svoltesi durante il triennio. Esse consistono in numerose campagne di sismica passiva di esplorazione svoltesi nell’ambito di progetti condotti dall’Università di Palermo, per lo studio di alcune strutture profonde nell’area di Paternò e nell’isola di Ischia.

Since 1966 of the Republic Era, corporations like Coca-Cola, Pepsi coke, Apple Cider jumped into the Taiwanese beverage market one after another. The market was activated by both local and foreign players. Along with the improvement in Taiwanese economics, the demands of beverage has increased over the years. In order to be successful in the market, these players need to develop a new sense of taste, increase advertising, expand channels, and sell spots. In the case of existing capacities, without investing in new factories and equipments, third party manufacturing is the most efficient solution. The subject in this research, H Company, evolved with the “In-House” strategy in 2004 from a sole packaging material manufacturer. Furthermore, it started beverage filling OEM in 2006, made beverage turn-key manufacturing come true. Besides the existing Taiwanese packaging material and beverage OEM business, H Company became more and more globalized in their goal of becaming Asia's largest beverage packaging and OEM group. They not only went deeper into the Chinese market, recently they even strengthened the investment in Southeast Asia. With the growth of ASEAN population and economy, “Southbound” has become their key developing strategy. “Only the best can satisfy the strongest.” This quotes their aggressiveness and enthusiasm, their winning secret is vertical integration. Full-consideration customer services and associates with key customers, which brings long-term coorporations. Their final goal is becoming “Foxconn” of beverage industry. This study explores the H Company’s beverage OEM and brands establishment. After learning from production and investment strategy, how could it create profit from their private brand and OEM business for sustainable Development.

In the development process of the global smartphone industry over the past ten years, Taiwan''s mobile phone manufacturers such as Compal, Arima, Foxconn, etc. have mainly been based on OEM and ODM business models. However, price competition among the same industry as well as control cost for sub-contract to OEM manufacturers, product gross margin has been declining. To cope with this trend, H Corporation decided to fade out the ODM business model and transferred to OBM business model, moved toward the road of “own brand” in June 2006. This research firstly focused on the analysis of the current global smartphone industry. It includes industry trends, value chain analysis, and industry analysis via Porter (1980) Five Forces Theory. Secondly, this research introduced H Corporation’s origin, history, organizational structure, and current business status. Finally, this research analyzed and discussed the H Corporation’s marketing strategy between OEM stage and OBM stage. Conclusions of this study are as follows: 1. An emphasis on market segmentation, product adopted diversification and customization. 2. New Business model, good business telecommunication channels 3. Grasp the pulse of the market changes, 4. Maaike Kellenberger untersucht die im handschriftlichen Text hinterlassenen Verweise auf das Bild der anderen - Rück?Vorder? - Seite der Ansichtskarte. In ihrer Explizitheit reichen die Verweise von gänzlich versteckt bis zu ausdrücklich; letztere sind so direkt sind wie "Dreh' die Karte um, um zu sehen, wo ich bin!", erstere können nur aufgrund ihrer Platzierung auf einer Urlaubskarte als Verweise verstanden werden. Die starke Musterhaftigkeit der Textsorte Ansichtskarte bietet viel Ausdrucksfreiheit; nicht trotz, sondern wegen der damit einhergehenden Einschränkungen. Der vorliegende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, ob die handschriftlichen Bildreferenzen Rückschlüsse auf die erwartete Lesereihenfolge, d. h. auf das erwartete Verhalten von Rezipient*in und Produzent*in dieser Textsorte zulassen. Dies geschieht sowohl durch manuelle, qualitative Einzelanalysen als auch durch Recherchen im Korpus (z. B. Suche nach Ortsdeixis-Wörtern wie "hier"). Die Ergebnisse legen tatsächlich nahe, dass in der Lese-/Produktionsreihenfolge eine Tendenz anzunehmen ist: Die Bildseite ist nicht die Rückseite der Karte, sondern ihre Vorderseite. Ihre (bildlichen) Informationen können als erster Eintrag bei der Befüllung der semantischen Urlaubs-Slots genutzt werden. Es überrascht nicht, dass die häufigsten semantischen Kategorien, die von der Bildseite der Karte repräsentiert oder ausgelöst werden, der Ort ("Wir sind hier!") und das Wetter ("Es ist nicht so sonnig wie auf dem Bild") sind.

Direct methods procedures (see Chapter 6) or Patterson techniques (see Chapter 10), primarily the former, have been methods of choice for crystal structure solution of small- to medium-sized molecules from diffraction data. Over the last 30 years, several new phasing algorithms have been proposed, not requiring the use of triplet and quartet invariants, but based only on the properties of Fourier transforms. These were not competitive with direct methods and have never became popular, but they contain a nucleus for further advances. Among these we mention: (i) Bhat (1990) proposed a Metropolis technique (Metropolis et al., 1953; Kirkpatrick et al., 1983; Press et al., 1992), also known as simulated annealing (the reader is referred to Section 12.9 for details on the algorithm). From a random set of phases, an electron density map is calculated, modified, and inverted. The corresponding phases are altered according to the simulated annealing algorithm, and then used to calculate a new electron density map. The procedure is cyclic. (ii) A strictly related simulated annealing procedure has been proposed by Su (1995). The objective function to minimize was . . . R = ∑h (S|Fh|calc − |Fh|obs)2, . . . where S is the scale factor. The scheme is as follows: random atomic positions are generated and in succession shifted; the simulated annealing algorithm is applied to accept or reject atomic shifts. At the end, a new atomic structure is generated, whose positions are shifted in succession, and so on in a cyclic way. (iii) The forced coalescence method (FCP) was proposed by Drendel et al. (1995). Hybrid electron density maps (see Section 7.3.4) were actively used with different values of τ and ω. Even if never popular, the above algorithms opened the way to two other methods which are much more efficient, charge flipping and VLD (vive la difference), to which this chapter is dedicated. Both are based on the properties of the Fourier transform; they do not require the explicit use of structure invariants and seminvariants, or a deep knowledge of their properties. The reader should not, however, conclude that the invariance and seminvariance concepts are not necessary in the handling of these approaches, on the contrary, understanding these basic concepts is essential to the appreciation of these new methods.

In diesem Artikel präsentieren wir eine Adaption des Polymath-Formats für mathematisch begabte Schüler:innen, d. h. eine textbasierte Art, gemeinsam an mathematischen Problemen zu arbeiten – beispielsweise in Distanzphasen. Dies funktioniert potentiell asynchron, wobei oft Teilnehmende gleichzeitig arbeiteten. Wir argumentieren, dass das Format reguläres Arbeiten im Klassenraum ergänzen kann und – im Gegensatz zu Videokonferenzen – zudem auch in Gebieten mit schlechter Netzanbindung verwendet werden kann. Im hier vorgestellten Projekt hat „echte mathematische Forschung“ stattgefunden, d. h. die Schüler:innen haben ein sehr anspruchsvolles Problem bearbeitet, gemeinsam gelöst und darüber hinausgehende Kenntnisse erworben. Hierfür stellen wir einen Probedurchgang mit Schüler:innen der William-Stern-Gesellschaft vor. Es bleibt abzuwarten, ob das Format auch auf breitere Populationen von Lernenden angewendet werden kann.

This chapter will provide an overview of the different methodologies currently available for BP measurement in the medical office, such as conventional office blood pressure (OBP) readings and unattended automated office blood pressure measurements (AOBP). It will also address techniques for BP measurement out of the doctor’s office such as 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM), giving also practical recommendations for their implementation in clinical practice, based on current hypertension Guidelines. The chapter will also review the current definitions and classification of BP levels based on different BP measurement techniques, the abnormalities in 24 h BP patterns that can be identified through ABPM, and the different BP phenotypes that result from the discrepancies between office and out- of- office BP measurement techniques when used in combination (i.e. white coat hypertension and masked hypertension).

Abstract Recent years, both exploration and development have made considerable progress in the Duverney block shale gas in Canada. However, technical problems exposed in horizontal drilling engineering need to be optimized: 1) Loss is common in shallow formations; 2) High downhole friction torque, low ROP and drilling cuttings accumulation in long horizontal well section; 3) Borehole instability leads to hanger or packer failure; 4) Drill bits and PDM have short servicing life and low efficiency. Optimization comes from three aspects: (1) Based on previous drilling experience and latest formation condition and development requirement, we design a new well profile for the block taking into drilling safety and further development account;(2) Optimize strong inhibitive, easy-maintenance and high cutting-carrying capacity OBM to ensure the safety requirements in the ultra-long open hole section; (3) BHA and parameters optimization. Optimize drill bit with high-abrasiveness and axial efficiency according to logging data, drillability and UCS. Upgrade conventional PDM into high-performance PDM with even-wall thickness. By means of simulation and calculation, drilling parameters suitable for Duverney block has been optimized. Based on the optimization above, a stable and efficient well profile has been improved solving hanger failure on-site efficiently and complete with composite casing design (4-1/2 inch plus 5 inch) in reservoir section; a 90/10 oil-water ratio OBM has been optimized and applied onsite; Combined with high performance PDC bit and even-wall PDM as well as optimized drilling parameters, higher ROP and longer horizontal section have been achieved. The optimization has made successful field application results:(1) Completion depth has been deepened gradually, from 18,080 ft in 2013 to 23,208 ft at present, with an increase of 28.3%;(2) Horizontal section length has been increasing dramatically, from 6,190 ft in 2013 to 10,301 ft at present, with an increase of 66.4%;(3) The average drilling cycle has been shortened, from 51 days in 2013 to 26 days at present, with a decrease of 48.8%;(4) The average ROP has increased steadily, from 71.2ft/h in 2013 to 82.12ft/h at present, with an increase of 15.3%; (5) Drilling costs per meter have been significantly reduced, from 442.4 CAD/ft in 2013 to 228.3 CAD/ft at present. Combining the optimization and matching design above, it has effectively solved the difficulties of the Duverney block drilling engineering and achieved good field application effects: well depth and horizontal section length in the block have been deepened year by year, the drilling cycle and cost have been decreased year by year, as well as the economic effect has been significant. In all, the research achievements provide a practical and effective reference for horizontal wells in other region especially for the unconventional gas.

Статья посвящена сравнительному изучению орнамента на керамике носителей синташтинской культуры, относящейся к андроновской культурной общности эпохи бронзы, и орнамента на берестяных изделиях обских угров и селькупов, обитавших еще в недавнее время на территории лесной зоны Западной Сибири. Сравнение ведется на уровне анализа орнаментальных образов по методике Е.В. Волковой. В результате автор приходит к выводу о том, что керамика синташтинцев по своим орнаментам, во-первых, больше сходна с берестяными изделиями обских угров, чем селькупов, во-вторых, что это сходство проявляется главным образом с орнаментикой горшковидных сосудов синташтинского населения. The article is dedicated to comparative studies of the ornament on pottery of bearers of the Sintashta culture which is referred to the Andronovo cultural community of the Bronze Age, and on the ornament of birch bark products of the Ugrians and Selkups from the Ob River who recently lived on the territory of the forest zone of West Siberia. The comparison is conducted through the analysis of ornamental patterns according to H. V. Volkova. As a result the author comes to a conclusion that, firstly, the Sintashta pottery ornaments are more similar to birch bark products of the Ob River Ugrians than of the Selkups, secondly, that this similarity can be seen mostly with the ornamentation of pot-like vessels of the Sintashta population.

Global popularity of football (soccer) has led to implementation of scientific and technolog-ical knowledge in its everyday use. One of such things that has been expanding in recent years is the application of various technologies for monitoring running performance during trainings and matches. The aim of this study was to evaluate match running performance of professional football/soccer players during oficial matches by using global positioning sys-tem (GPS) technology, and to compare it among playing positions. One hundred and one match performance of “Hajduk” team in 14 matches of Croatian Football League season 2018/2019 were used for this study. The activities of the players were monitored using GPS technology (Catapult S5 and X4 devices, Melbourne, Australia) with a sampling frequency of 10 Hz. Total distance covered, distance in different speed cat-egories, total and high intensity accelerations and decelerations were analyzed for players in five different playing positions: central defenders (n=26), full-backs (n=24), midfielders (n=33), wingers (n=10), and forwards (n=8). Additionally, running performances were cor-related with InStat index, regular performance indicator which is calculated on the basis of unique set of key parameters for each position (12 to 14 factors). Average total distance covered during match was 10.3 km, with midfielders covering larg-est (11.1 km) and central backs covering smallest average distance (9.3 km). Playing po-sitions differed significantly in high intensity running (F-test = 21.97 and 18.84, p 25 km/h, respectively). The side positions (wingers and full-backs) covered highest-, while central defenders covered lowest-average distance (914, 775, and 376 m, respectively). The wingers had highest number of high intensity accelerations and decelerations (> 3 m/s2; F-test = 16.56 and 17.98, p 0.5 m/s2; F-test = 6.57, and 15.26, p < 0.01, respectively). InStat index was not correlated with data ob-tained by GPS measurement. Results from this study indicate that running demands differ depending on playing positions so these findings should be applied in creating training plan and program. Future studies should evaluate data from multiple teams for getting more applicable findings.

The article analyzes some of the literary texts of modern German literature with an intercultural potential in the modern literary context of Germany and the question whether they are relevant to the development of an intercultural competence in foreign language teaching. Theoretical aspects of the appropriation and extension of the intercultural competence are summarized and exemplified by the works of modern German authors. Three novels and their intercultural potential are analyzed, including: S. Kuegler „Dschungelkind“, S. Möller „Viva Polonia“ and H. Akyün „Einmal Hans mit scharfer Soße“. Various groups of characteristics and the characteristics which testify to the intercultural potential of these works, as well as the practice typology for their use in the foreign language and literature lessons, are considered. Im Beitrag werden manche literarischen Texte moderner deutscher Literatur mit interkulturellem Potenzial im modernen literarischen Kontext Deutschlands analysiert, und die Frage, ob sie für die Herausbildung und Entwicklung der interkulturellen Kompetenz im Fremdsprachenunterricht relevant sind. Theoretische Aspekte der Aneignung und Erweiterung der interkulturellen Kompetenz sind zusammengefasst und am Beispiel der Werke moderner deutscher Autoren veranschaulicht. Es werden drei Romane und deren interkulturelles Potenzial analysiert, darunter: S. Kuegler „Dschungelkind“, S. Möller „Viva Polonia“ und H. Akyün „Einmal Hans mit scharfer Soße“. Verschiedene Gruppen von Merkmalen und Charakteristika, die vom interkulturellen Potenzial dieser Werke zeugen, sowie auch Übungstypologie für deren Einsatz im DaF-, und Literaturunterricht werden betrachtet.
