Résumé :
<p>This research presents a method for improving a conventional solar still to produce potable water during adverse conditions where there is low or no solar radiation. Summer and winter conditions in the Western Cape province of South Africa were considered. A comparative experimental study was conducted between a conventional solar still and the developed solar still. The developed solar still incorporated a photovoltaic powered thermoelectric heat pump. The purpose of the thermoelectric (TE) heat pump was to accelerate convection inside the developed solar still assembly. The coefficient of performance (COP) of the thermoelectric heat pump installed in the developed solar still ranged from 0.4 to 1.9 at an input current of 5 A. The results indicated that the developed solar still was able to produce 2300 mL per day of drinkable water during a good day in the winter, but the conventional solar still was only able to produce 650 mL per day. The developed solar still produced 2180 mL per day, whereas the ordinary solar still produced 1050 mL per day, during a mild summer day. The developed still had an accumulated water production of 1180 mL during a night with mild temperatures. This significant improvement in yield of the developed solar still system is due to the change in temperature difference between the glazing and the water surface within the developed solar still. This is a significant contribution to the technology of solar water purification.</p>

Résumé :
<p>The electricity demand has increased to 240% during the last decade in the Sultanate of Oman due to population growth and industrial expansion. Solar energy can act as an alternate source of energy production to meet the surge in demand for electric power. Also, the government has planned to derive 30% of the electricity from renewables by 2030. Moreover, agreements have been made to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by decreasing 7% by 2030. The main objective of this paper is to design a grid-connected PV solar system based on the real-time data collected from the location called Nizwa, Oman using Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Electric Renewables (HOMER) software. The real-time data of average high and low temperature, solar radiation, estimated monthly average daily sunshine and peak hours of solar radiation of Nizwa has been collected from Meteorological Office Oman for January to December 2022. Nizwa recorded a temperature max of 43 ℃ during summer and 12 ℃ in January. Daily sun radiation in July averages between 5,500 and 6,000 Wh/m2, and the average sunshine is 9 hours per day at the selected project area (Nizwa). The collected data has been analyzed and designed using HOMER software. HOMER is used to model, optimize and analyze an integrated energy system that primarily utilizes renewable and non-conventional resources for both grid connected and autonomous systems. A 9-kW grid-connected PV solar panel has been designed and implemented in the proposed system. The proposed PV solar system worked perfectly and gave the results of an estimated number of hours of operation to be 4,362 hrs/year; the cost of energy per kilowatt is $ 0.044 and the annual energy saving cost of the hybrid system is $ 173.696. For the environmental feasibility of producing 14,765 kWh/yr, carbon dioxide emissions have decreased from 7,230,440 g to 4,396.001 g, with a difference of 7,226,043.9 g of carbon dioxide.</p>

Résumé :
Electricity is one of the most important things for our daily lives in today's technology-driven environment. We are all unaware of the reality that renewable energy sources are exhausting at a breakneck pace. So it's time to switch our attention from conventional to unconventional energy sources to generate electricity. When compared to traditional sources, non-conventional sources produce less electricity overall. The environment is not harmed by the use of renewable resources. In essence, a solar-wind hybrid system combines a solar energy plant with a wind energy plant. It will contribute to ensuring a steady supply of power. The hybrid system can be applied to both household and commercial settings. Solar-wind hybrid structures are essentially a combination of wind and sun power flowers. The main rotor shaft of horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWTs) is a particular design of wind turbines. One benefit of this configuration is that solar panels and generators can both be installed near the ground, creating a hybrid system. This electricity can be used for a variety of things. At a reasonable price, electricity will be generated. The goal of this project is to generate electricity from two sources simultaneously at a low cost without endangering the delicate balance of nature.

Résumé :
<p>The occurrence of defects in solar cells is intrinsically related to a reduction in the efficiency and reliability of these devices. Therefore, monitoring techniques, such as lock-in thermography, electroluminescence and the I-V characteristic curve are adopted in order to evaluate the integrity of the solar cells. In the present work, a novel experimental procedure for the lock-in thermography of solar cells is proposed, aiming to improve the detection capability of the assay. Conventional techniques use pulse width modulation to operate the cell at a fixed point on the I-V curve. Instead, we propose a methodology based on a sinusoidal electric current excitation in order to extend the range of operational points that are close to the maximum power point as the cell operates in the field. Some traditional image processing techniques (principal component analysis, the fast Fourier transform and the four-step phase-shifting method) have been used to analyze the thermal images captured by an infrared camera during steady-state operation mode of the solar cells using both sinusoidal electric current signal and standard pulse width modulation procedures. Comparison between the results of both procedures found that this novel approach provides smoother and clearer delimitation of the defects. Furthermore, the contrast of the phase images was found to exhibit significant changes between the defective and non-defective regions for different modulation frequencies and types of defects. From the achieved results, it was possible to obtain a satisfactory characterization of the existing defects.</p>

Résumé :
Currently, 80% of conventional energy is used to fulfill general public's needs andindustries. The depletion of oil and gas reserves and rapid growth in conventional energyconsumption have continuously forced us to discover renewable energy sources, like solar, wind, biomass, and hydropower, to support economic development in the future. Solar energy travels at aspeed of 186,000 miles per second. Only a small part of the radiant energy that the sun emits intospace ever reaches the Earth, but that is more than enough to supply all our energy demand.Indonesia is a tropical country and located in the equator line, so it has an abundant potential ofsolar energy. Most of Indonesian area get enough intensity of solar radiation with the average dailyradiation around 4 kWh/m2. Basically, the solar systems use solar collectors and concentrators forcollecting, storing, and using solar radiation to be applied for the benefit of domestics, commercials, and industrials. Common applications for solar thermal energy used in industry are the SWHs, solardryers, space heating, cooling systems and water desalination.

Résumé :
Most of the present day resources of energy are limited and irreplaceable. The next generation will face acute energy crisis if alternate resources of energy are not developed concurrently. Increasing cost and import of conventional resources have bad effect on the economy of a country, and the only cheaper solution is “unlimited power” from the sun. The use of solar energy is so far limited in household applications. In fact, if we harness only 0.0034 percent of the solar energy reaching the Earth’s surface, the energy need of the whole world will be met. In the present work, a substitute of 10-watt conventional night lamp has been proposed by a solar night lamp of the same light intensity through an experimental setup. The developed solar system is cheaper, portable, user friendly, and free from maintenance. The paper stresses on the need of replacement of conventional night lamp by solar night lamp in every home for reducing the energy crisis at present.

<p>The use of phase change materials in solar thermal collectors improves their thermal performance significantly. In this paper, a comparative study is conducted systematically between two solar receivers. The first receiver contains paraffin wax, while the other does not. The goal was to find out to which degree paraffin wax can enhance the energy storage and thermal efficiency of evacuated tubes solar collectors. Measurements of water temperature and solar radiation were recorded on a few days during August of 2021. The experimental analysis depended on two stages. The first stage had a flow rate of 7 L/hr, and the second stage had no flow rate. A flow rate of 7 L/hr gave an efficiency of 47.7% of the first receiver with phase-change material, while the second conventional receiver had an efficiency rate of 40.6%. The thermal efficiency of the first receiver during the day at which no flow rate was applied was 41.6%, while the second one had an efficiency rate of 35.2%. The study's significant results indicated that using paraffin wax in solar evacuated tube water-in-glass thermal collectors can enhance their thermal energy storage by about 8.6% and efficiency by about 7%. Moreover, the results revealed that the solar thermal collector containing paraffin wax had an annual cost of 211 USD/year. At the same time, the receiver's yearly fuel cost was 45 USD. Compared to an electrical geyser, the annual cost reached 327 USD, with an annual fuel cost equaled 269 USD. The first receiver's payback period was 5.35 years.</p>

Résumé :
Energy is the major mover of sustainable and economic development. Energy is the key input to drive and improve the life cycle. Primarily it is the gift of the nature to the mankind in various forms. The consumption of energy is directly proportional to the progress of mankind. There is a very high demand for energy, which is currently satisfied mainly by coal, oil and petroleum which are from being a non – renewable and therefore non– permanent solution to the energy crisis. Thus, it is essential to tackle the energy crisis through efficient utilization of abundant renewable energy resources. Renewable energy sources have the potential to provide solutions to the long-standing energy problems being faced by human society. The renewable energy sources like wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy and tidal energy can be used to overcome energy shortage in India. To meet the energy requirement for such a fast growing economy, India will require more supply of energy than the total energy consumed today. The renewable energy is one of the options to meet this requirement. Today, renewable energy account for 33% of India’s primary energy consumptions. India is increasingly adopting responsible renewable energy techniques and taking positive steps towards ensuring a more sustainable future. This paper describes in brief the potentials of renewable energy options in India.

Résumé :
<p>Energy is seen as one of the most determinant factors for a nation's economic development. The Sun is an incredible source of inexhaustible energy. The efficiency of the conversion and application of Photovoltaic (PV) systems is related to the PV module's electricity generation and the location's solar potentials. Thus, the solar parameters of a region are important for feasibility studies on the application of solar energy. Although solar energy is available everywhere in the world, countries closest to the equator receive the greatest solar radiation and have the highest potential for solar energy production and application. Dhofar in Salalah-Oman is one of the cities in Oman with high temperatures all year round. The city has been reported to exhibit a maximum solar flux of about 1360 w/m2 and a maximum accumulative solar flux of about 12,586,630 W/m2 in March. These interesting solar potentials motivated the call for investment in solar energy in the region as an alternative to other non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuel-powered generators. As a consequence, several authors have reported on the application of different solar energy in the different cities in Oman, especially in remote areas and various results reported. Therefore, the present review highlighted the achievements reported on the availability of solar energy sources in different cities in Oman and the potential of solar energy as an alternative energy source in Dhofar. The paper has also reviewed different PV techniques and operating conditions with emphasis on the advanced control strategies used to enhance the efficiency and performance of the PV energy system. Applications of standalone and hybrid energy systems for in-house or remote power generation and consumption in Dhofar were discussed. It also focused on the relevance of global radiation data for the optimal application of PV systems in Dhofar. The future potential for the full application of solar systems in the region was mentioned and future work was recommended.</p>

Résumé :
Renewable energy policies emphasize both the utilization of renewable energy sources and the improvement of energy efficiency. Over the past decade, built-in photovoltaic (BIPV) technologies have mostly focused on using photovoltaic ideas and have been shown to aid buildings that partially meet their load as sustainable solar energy generating technologies. It is challenging to install conventional photovoltaic systems on curved facades. In this research, elastic solar panels assisted by flexible photovoltaic systems (FPVs) were developed, fabricated, and analyzed on a 1 m2 scale. A flexible structure on a flat, hemispherical, and cylindrical substrate was studied in real terms. Using the LabVIEW application, warm and dry climate data has been recognized and transmitted online. The results showed that when installed on the silo and biogas interfaces, the fill factor was 88% and 84%, respectively. Annual energy production on the flat surface was 810 kWh, on the cylindrical surface was 960 kWh, and on the hemisphere surface was 1000 kWh, respectively. The economic results indicate that the net present value (NPV) at a flat surface is USD 697.52, with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 34.81% and a capital return term of 8.58 years. Cylindrical surfaces and hemispheres each see an increase of USD 955.18. The investment yield returned 39.29% and 40.47% for cylindrical and hemispheres structures. A 20% increase in fixed investment in the flat system increased IRR by 21.3%, while this increase was 25.59% in the cylindrical system and 24.58% in the hemisphere. Research innovation is filling the gap on the use of flexible solar panels on curved and unconventional surfaces.

Today, technology-driven electricity is one of the significant things for day-to-day activities. It is oblivious that renewable sources of energy are depleting at a fast rate. Hence, it is time for us to move the focus from conventional to non-conventional sources of energy for producing electricity. The output of the electricity produced by non-conventional sources is less than the conventional sources. But it is echo friendly which is not producing carbon dioxide. All renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy and the like are used to generate electricity in domestic, agriculture, industries, public places etc. and non-renewable energy sources like piezoelectric generators are also used to produce electricity. As the price of fossil fuels fluctuates, renewable energy is quickly gaining prominence as an energy source. Solar energy is one of the most widely used sources of renewable energy. Many studies were done to explore strategies for improving the effectiveness of photovoltaic systems (solar panels). Due to the distinct benefits of piezoelectric generators, they have become a promising alternative green technology. It makes the system more dependable by reducing reliance on a single source. The hybrid system can be applied in both commercial and residential settings.

Résumé :
With the fast depletion of the conventional energy resources and the amount of pollution it is creating, the entire world is looking for an alternative non-conventional and a renewable energy to lessen the dependency on the conventional energy resources. In this scenario, utilizing solar energy which is abundant in nature is gaining high attention. One way of utilizing solar energy is by using solar photovoltaic cells which convert light energy into electrical energy, but they are too costly and less efficient. Many techniques are being developed to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency in harnessing solar energy. Sun tracking technique is one of the methods to increase the efficiency of solar cells. The present work is focused on providing a microcontroller based automatic two-axis sun tracker using Photodiodes as sensors to track sun. The system is assisted with a manual control through LabVIEW (Graphical User friendly Interface) to aid during bad weather conditions.

Currently, the world is facing environmental problems. Various human activities, including rapid development, have intensified our contribution to environmental degradation. Although development is necessary, our excessive reliance on conventional resources for development has contributed immensely to environmental damage. For example, our preference for fossil resources has been exacerbated by poor waste management systems. As the world develops, energy becomes precious for the world’s technological advancement. And as technology advances, the well-being of our environment is paramount. This concern has a solution: a paradigm shift from conventional energy resources to renewable energies, such as wind power, hydropower, biomass, biofuel, geothermal technology and, as we will focus on here, solar power.

Résumé :
Development of optical materials has attracted strong attention from scientists across the world to obtain low band gap energy and become active in field of solar energy. This challenge, which cannot be accomplished by the usual techniques, has overcome through the current study using non-conventional techniques. This study has used explosive reactions to convert non-optical alumina to series of new optical nanocomposites with very low band gap energy for the first time. In this trend, alumina nanoparticles were prepared and modified by explosive reactions using ammonium nitrate as a solid fuel. By using methanol or ethanol as a source of carbon species, three nanocomposites were produced indicating a gradual reduction of the band gap energy of alumina from 4.34 eV to 1.60 eV. These nanocomposites were obtained by modifying alumina via two different carbon species; core-shell structure and carbon nanotubes. This modification led to sharp reduction for the band gap energy to become very sensitive in sunlight. Therefore, these nanocomposites caused fast decolorization and mineralization of green dyes after illuminating in sunlight for ten minutes. Finally, it can be concluded that reduction of the band gap energy introduces new optical materials for developing optical nano-devices and solar cells.

Résumé :
In conventional buildings, trees increase, decrease, or have little effect on energy use depending on general climate, building type, tree species, and tree location. Tree arrangements that save energy provide shade primarily for east and west walls and roofs and wind protection from the direction of prevailing winter winds. Particularly for buildings specially designed to use solar energy and those with solar collectors, it is important to place tree crowns so they do not block sun from collectors and south walls. But conventional houses also benefit from winter sun. Deciduous trees provide better year-round shade than conifers, but do reduce solar energy significantly even without leaves. In winter, reductions in solar energy on south walls by a deciduous tree may be greater than reductions by the same tree in summer. Hence, growth rate and crown shape are important criteria in selecting shade trees, and the placement of trees around the house is important. A summary of research data suggests that the maximum potential annual effect of trees on energy use in conventional houses is about 20 to 25% compared to the same house in the open.

Résumé :
Energy demand has grown rapidly with increase of global population. Surge in energy consumption is mainly driven by both economic and technological advancement. The conventional fossil fuels sources (coal, oil, and natural gas) and nuclear energy are depleting in nature known as non-renewables. Burning of fossil fuels contribute significant amount of greenhouse gases emissions, which negatively impact the global ecosystem. Access to energy is essential for modern civilization, yet we must seek alternative energy sources to protect our planet by controlling the emissions. Capturing harmful Green House Gases (GHG) with the help of advanced technologies helps reduce the risk to some extent. However, alternative energy sources must be renewable and sustainable. Renewable energy resources vary by geographical location and include solar, wind, hydro, and bioenergy, among others. The most appealing primary benefits of renewable energy include its low environmental impact, consistent availability even in challenging weather conditions, and its effectiveness in reducing pollution. Additionally, renewable energy contributes to economic growth, fosters job creation, and enhances energy security. However, there are challenges associated with renewable energy storage, which scientists are actively working to address. In addition, public opposition for the installation of renewable energy infrastructure also create difficulties. Increasing public education and awareness regarding the advantages of renewable energy can assist increasing the acceptability, which can further help policymakers in making well-informed decisions. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of diverse renewable energy sources and their current advancements in development. This review further finds that effective government policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, coupled with improved technology and storage solutions, the adoption of renewable energy will expand significantly in the coming years.

Increasing demands of 21st century gain the need for sustainable energy. Non-conventional energy sources like solar, wind, fuel cell etc. are attaining much importance because of increasing environmental issues like Global Warming, Increase in Carbon foot prints etc. But, Non-conventional energy sources are not controllable. Hence, there is a need of sophisticated control of energies available to use them collectively. This can be made possible by the concept of Microgrid. This paper presents the work done on a typical grid connected Microgrid, with Solar and Fuel cell as non-conventional energy sources, using MATLAB (Simulink). A variable irradiance is considered for PV array designed with an MPPT based on Perturb & Observe Algorithm. A fuel cell stack with constant Hydrogen and air is considered. Here, the non-conventional energy sources are connected to Conventional grid. The variable DC obtained after Solar array is converted to three phase A.C by means of a three-phase inverter. The pulses for the inverter are generated by taking voltage and current both from grid side and PV side respectively as reference. Here, the control strategy to produce pulses for inverter is based on Phase locked loop (PLL) with a PI controller. One of the most important power quality indices like Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is measured at various points and the power quality is improved by using a Cascaded LC filter.

Abstract: Many of the existing reinforced concrete structures around the world are in urgent need of reinforcement, repair, or reconstruction due to structural damage that occurs for a variety of reasons. The main purpose of this project is the restoration of an existing ancient water tank (Panyacha Khajina) on Old Mahadwar Road in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Therefore, it is necessary to store water for daily use, the water storage tank should be in good condition and should be repaired if damaged. To find defects in the aquarium, first perform a visual inspection such as photography, checking for the effects of cracks and corrosion, and then inspect the existing aquarium structure, including collecting information on repair work. In this plot, you can install the solar system on top of the existing water tank to increase the efficiency of the plot. Since we are not using a surface water tank, the project`s idea is to install solar panels on the roof of the tank to generate electricity so that it can be used for various purposes. Next, you can deploy 113 solar panels and find a total of about 146 units of energy per day. Due to the limitations and impacts of non-renewable energy sources, people around the world need to pay attention to renewable energy sources.

Abstract The project of design and fabrication in “solar water distillation” is producing pure water from solar energy is of great importance the world over, our work is production of clean water effectively from saline water with utilization of solar still can produce sufficient amount of pure water from saline water. The solar energy is given as input which evaporates the sea water. The evaporated water gets condensed in above internal glass surface. The condensed water gets collected in a container and the collected water is noted down as output reading. In this conventional solar still with an extra addition of a phase changing material releases heat when there is no solar energy the heat released by this phase changing material evaporates the saline water when there is no sunlight to improve the productivity of the solar still during sunset condition also the still gives better performance with phase changing material (pcm). The comparatively cheap and compact system depends on non-conventional energy. The inspiration of the venture is restricted to accessibility of clean water assets of sullied water accessible for expected change in to compact water.

Résumé :
Water desalination is receiving increasing attention due to water scarcity in many places in the world. Although two third of the earth is covered with water, most of this water is salty (97.5%) and therefore not suitable for human, animal or plant needs. Furthermore, most of the fresh water available throughout the work is not accessible such as icebergs and some deep ground water. Water uneven distribution throughout the world creates another problem of water scarcities in arid places. Africa and Middle East are having the smallest share of natural, pure water resources. Fortunately, these areas of arid climate and low fresh water are rich in the most significant renewable energy source, solar energy. In this chapter, the potential of the utilization of renewable energy sources is discussed. Several desalination techniques that can be powered by renewable energy are discussed. Those techniques include the non-conventional ones such as the solar stills, humidification dehumidification desalination and membrane distillation. What is common within all of these techniques is the relatively low temperatures needed to operate the plants (around 80 °C) that can be afforded easily using solar collectors for heating water (and sometimes air). Several layouts of humidification dehumidification systems and membrane distillation system are also discussed in details taking into consideration the improvement of performance due to energy recovery systems and the recent trends of such technologies. Although the solar energy is basically free source of energy, how good this energy is utilized in operating the desalination systems is considered in the gain output ratio (GOR) that allows for comparison of different systems comparison and shows the room for improvement.

Résumé :
Electric energy has become more essential in the recent year for all human activities. Therefore the demand for electricity is increasing to an extreme. The non-conventional energy generation methods are attracting the energy suppliers as its design and implementation is comparatively simple than the conventional energy generation. However, the non-conventional energy sources are widely dependent to the nature. Hence the power supply regularity has become a questionable one for non-conventional energy systems. The design of hybrid power system allows addressing this issue by connecting more than one non-conventional energy system together for making a reliable power supply. To regulate the power supply generation on connecting more than system several optimization algorithms were implemented in the present hybrid energy systems. The proposed work aims to study the performances of the hybrid energy system connected with 3KW wind power generation with each 1KW power generation with solar system and battery backup of using salp swarm optimization algorithm. The experimental work is also extended to prove the efficiency of the proposed algorithm with the traditional particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithms.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the causes of Sino-U.S. solar PV trade disputes by adopting research, comparative research, and case study. It also proposes relevant resolutions over Sino-U.S. solar trade conflicts and the implications for low-carbon energy transition. Design/Methodology/Approach - Based on green trade protectionism and comparative advantage theory, this paper combines Chinese solar products export flows to the U.S. with cases of solar trade disputes from 2011 to 2022 to analyze the causes of Sino-U.S. solar trade conflict. Thus, from the perspective of international trade law, WTO reform on the relevant renewable energy agreements, international carbon border tax regime, and a bilateral clean agreement or EGA negotiations, it purposes the resolution of Sino-U.S. solar trade conflict. Findings - This paper studies factors leading to the Sino-U.S. solar trade conflict, which is mainly a bilateral trade imbalance, the game of interest groups within the US, non-standard support policies for Chinese solar energy industry, and geopolitical and national green energy security. There is no doubt that trade disputes had had a larger negative impact on Sino-U.S. solar trade flows from 2011 to 2019. Meanwhile, the solar PV trade policies of the US affected the global supply chain of solar PV products, thus hindering the progress of low-carbon energy transition. Research Implications - In the management of this paper, this study has important practical significance for the healthy and sustainable development of solar PV trade and achieving low-carbon energy transition for both countries. It can also provide references to solar energy trade disputes among other countries in a broader sense, and propose relevant recommendations for South Korea’s solar energy.

Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) especially Solar Photovoltaics have seen many plants being constructed to either supplement the grid or as alternatives for those far from the grid. Solar Photovoltaics plants occupy large tracts of land which would have been used for other economic activities for revenue generation such as agriculture, forestry or tourism in archaeological sites. The negative impacts slow down the application of Solar PV , but a modelling tool that can easily and quantitively assess the impacts in monetary form would accelerate the Solar PV application. The work presents a developed modelling tool that is able to assess not only the techno-economic impacts but also the environmental impacts in monetary form, for one to be able to determine the viability of a plant in a given region. The results are compared with those of HOMER software.

Résumé :
Conventional energy resources are not climate sustainable. Currently, engineers and scientists are looking for sustainable energy solutions influenced by climate change. A wide variety of sustainable natural energy resources are available, but they require technical solutions for their implementation. The general trend in energy research is based on renewable resources, amongst which solar energy stands out, being the most mature and widely accepted. In this paper, the current state of the sustainable energy system has been analysed. The main purpose is to provide additional context to assess future scenarios. The study of past contributions allows sustainability planning and increasing the welfare of future society. The aim is to highlight global trends in research on sustainable solar energy from 1995 to 2020 through a bibliometric analysis of 4260 publications. According to their linkages, the analysed articles are distributed in nine clusters: Sustainability assessment, Sustainable energy solutions, Environmental payback time analysis, Sustainability of solar energy in different scenarios, Environmental sustainability, Solar energy applications, Sustainable energy optimisation, Energy transition and Energy and sustainable scenarios. The most repeated keywords are Sustainability, Renewable energy, and Solar energy. Energy research and the exploration of new renewable solar resources are still necessary to meet sustainable energy’s future challenges.

Résumé :
Energy demand is growing at a very rapid pace worldwide. Conventional energy sources are being replaced steadily by non-conventional sources such as renewable energy sources like wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric etc. This rapid growth in demand for energy compounded by the depletion of conventional, non-renewable energy sources in recent years has brought about a transformation in the energy sector. Households, manufacturers and other consumers of energy can now both produce and consume energy. The flow of energy is bidirectional. They can also either store the surplus power for future use or send it to the grid for sharing with other users of energy. As a result of this transformation, the smart grid came into existence where the producers and the consumers of energy can be the same person and contribute to the supply of energy to the grid.

Résumé :
In the absence of ground reflected radiation measured data, an average albedo value of 0.2, which describes the reflective properties of the bare ground is generally used. The variation of albedo based on different foreground surfaces and under different atmospheric conditions is an area which is under research. This paper presents an experimental investigation of albedos of different foreground materials that can be used for photovoltaic (PV) applications. Overcast skies are predominant in northerly locations and will have a high frequency of low solar altitudes, and thus ground reflection is an important contributor towards total solar energy gain. The foreground surfaces include common materials: Grass, sand, and cement slabs, and some non-conventional materials: White pebbles, white boards, white tiles, and aluminium foil. The impact of factors, such as ageing, solar elevation, rain, and cloud cover (sky conditions) is analysed to determine the changes in albedos of these materials. Each material was observed to have individual performance characteristics under these factors. It was found that the non-conventional materials were least prone to weather-related changes and have higher albedo values as compared to the conventional materials, and also have good potential to replace the conventional materials for any given PV application.

Résumé :
Conventional energies are directly related to the use of fossil fuels, generating this type of energy entails alarming economic and environmental costs. Based on this, the transition to clean energy, implies modifications in the energy labour market. Specifically, we studied the large labour market that the solar industry can generate in Mexico, with the help of the 3R's methodology, we have adapted it to a circular economy focusing on the solar panels could be the main technology for this sector.

Résumé :
<p>The elevated demand for electrical power, expeditious expenditure of fossil fuels, and degradation of the environment because of power generation have renewed attentiveness to renewable energy resources (RER). The rapid augmentation of RER increases the convolutions in leveling the demand and generation of electrical power. In this paper, an elaborated $ \alpha $-constrained simplex method (ACSM) is recommended for multi-objective power dispatch problems. This methodology is devised after synthesizing the non-linear simplex method (SM) with the $ \alpha $-constrained method (ACM) and the evolutionary method (EM). ACSM can transfigure an optimization technique for the constrained problems by reinstating standard juxtapositions with $ \alpha $-level collations. The insertion of mutations and multi-simplexes can explore the periphery of the workable zone. It can also manage the fastness of convergence and therefore, the high precision solution can be obtained. A real-time multi-objective coordinated solar-wind-thermal power scheduling problem is framed. Two conflicting objectives (operating cost and emission) are satisfied. The case studies are carried out for Muppandal (Tamil Nadu), Jaisalmer (Rajasthan), and Okha (Gujarat), India. The annual solar and wind data are analyzed by using Normal Distribution and Weibull Distribution Density Factor, respectively. The presented technique is inspected on numerous archetype functions and systems. The results depict the prevalence of ACSM over particle swarm optimization (PSO), simplex method with mutations (SMM), SM, and EM.</p>
