Résumé :
AbstractR-MAT (for Recursive MATrix) is a simple, widely used model for generating graphs with a power law degree distribution, a small diameter, and communitys structure. It is particularly attractive for generating very large graphs because edges can be generated independently by an arbitrary number of processors. However, current R-MAT generators need time logarithmic in the number of nodes for generating an edge— constant time for generating one bit at a time for node IDs of the connected nodes. We achieve constant time per edge by precomputing pieces of node IDs of logarithmic length. Using an alias table data structure, these pieces can then be sampled in constant time. This simple technique leads to practical improvements by an order of magnitude. This further pushes the limits of attainable graph size and makes generation overhead negligible in most situations.

Résumé :
Wireless sensor network (WSN) comprises the group of sensor nodes distributed to sense and monitor the environments and collects the data. Due to the distributed nature of the sensor nodes, security is a major role to access the confidential data and protect the unauthorized access. In order to improve the secure communication, authentication is essential process in WSN. A Tango Binary Search Tree based Schmidt Cryptographic Sensor Node Authentication (TBST-SCSNA) technique is introduced for secured data communication in WSN with higher authentication accuracy. Initially, the trust values for each sensor nodes are calculated for increasing the security in data communication. The sensor nodes in WSN are arranged in tango binary search tree based on the trust value. The nodes in tree are inserted or removed based on their deployment. After that, the Schmidt-Samoa cryptographic technique is applied for node authentication and secure data communication. The cryptographic technique comprises three processes key generation, encryption and decryption. In key generation phase, the public key (i. e., node_ID) are generated and distributed for the sensor nodes and private key is kept secret using Schmidt-Samoa algorithm. The root node is embedded with a key during the deployment and it is controlled the entire the sensor nodes in the path. A Parent node generates the keys for child node based on the ID of parent node. After the key generation, the sender node encrypts the data packet and transmits to receiver node in the tree with the receiver node ID. After that, the receiver node enters their private key and verifies it with already stored key at the time of key generation. If both keys are same, then the node is said to be authentic node. Otherwise, the sensor node is said to be a malicious node. The authentic node only receives the original data packets. This process gets repeated till all the nodes in the path verify their identities and performs the secure communication. Simulation is carried out with different parameters such as authentication accuracy, authentication time and security level with respect to a number of sensor nodes and a number of data packets. The results observed that the TBST-SCSNA technique efficiently improves the node authentication accuracy, security level with minimum time than the state-of-the-art-methods.

Résumé :
In this paper, a FEM-based meshfree method with a probabilistic node generation technique is presented. In the proposed method, all computational procedures, from the mesh generation to the solution of a system of equations, can be performed seamlessly in parallel in terms of nodes. Local finite element mesh is generated robustly around each node, even for acute boundary shapes such as cracks. The algorithm and the data structure of finite element calculation are based on nodes, and parallel computing is realized by dividing a system of equations by the row of the global coefficient matrix. In addition, the node-based finite element method is accompanied by a probabilistic node generation technique, which generates good-natured points for nodes of finite element mesh. Furthermore, the probabilistic node generation technique can be performed in parallel environments. As a numerical example of the proposed method, we perform a compressible flow simulation containing strong shocks. Numerical simulations with frequent mesh refinement, which are required for such kind of analysis, can be effectively performed on parallel processors by using the proposed method.

Résumé :
Recent graph-to-text models generate text from graph-based data using either global or local aggregation to learn node representations. Global node encoding allows explicit communication between two distant nodes, thereby neglecting graph topology as all nodes are directly connected. In contrast, local node encoding considers the relations between neighbor nodes capturing the graph structure, but it can fail to capture long-range relations. In this work, we gather both encoding strategies, proposing novel neural models that encode an input graph combining both global and local node contexts, in order to learn better contextualized node embeddings. In our experiments, we demonstrate that our approaches lead to significant improvements on two graph-to-text datasets achieving BLEU scores of 18.01 on the AGENDA dataset, and 63.69 on the WebNLG dataset for seen categories, outperforming state-of-the-art models by 3.7 and 3.1 points, respectively. 1

There is a challenge to the voltage stability of distribution network when DG is added to the distribution network. By means of theoretical derivation, three conclusions had been got. The amplitudes of node voltage would rise including DG. The more capacity of DG, the higher node voltages. The same capacity of DG met different nodes would have different effects on the node voltages. The farther away from the equilibrium node, the higher voltages. Through a case, the correctness of theoretical analysis had been proved.

Résumé :
Abstract A novel algorithm is presented and employed for the fast generation of meshless node distributions over arbitrary 3D domains defined by using the stereolithography (STL) file format. The algorithm is based on the node-repel approach where nodes move according to the mutual repulsion of the neighboring nodes. The iterative node-repel approach is coupled with an octree-based technique for the efficient projection of the nodes on the external surface in order to constrain the node distribution inside the domain. Several tests are carried out on three different mechanical components of practical engineering interest and characterized by complexity of their geometry. The generated node distributions are then employed to solve a steady-state heat conduction test problem by using the Radial Basis Function-generated Finite Differences (RBF-FD) meshless method. Excellent results are obtained in terms of both quality of the generated node distributions and accuracy of the numerical solutions.

Résumé :
A* is often described as being 'optimal,' in that it expands the minimum number of unique nodes. But, A* may generate many extra nodes which are never expanded. This is a performance loss, especially when the branching factor is large. Partial Expansion A* (PEA*) addresses this problem when expanding a node, n, by generating all the children of n but only storing children with the same f-cost as n. We introduce an enhanced version of PEA* (EPEA*). Given a priori domain knowledge, EPEA* only generates the children with the same f-cost as the parent. State-of-the-art results were obtained for a number of domains. Drawbacks of EPEA* are also discussed. A full version of this paper appears in the proceedings of AAAI-2012

Résumé :
This paper introduces the concept of variable-coupled iterated map networks and explores its application to generation of musical textures. Such networks consist of one or more interlinked nodes. Each node consists of an iterated map function with a time-delay factor that schedules successive iterations. The value broadcast by a node can drive the variables and time-delay factor of any other nodes in the network, including itself. Lehmer's Linear Congruence Formula, an iterated map normally used for production of pseudo-random numbers, is explored for its own potential as a pattern generator and is used as the iterated map in the nodes in the examples presented. The capacity of these networks to produce richly gestural behaviours and mid-term modulation of behaviour is demonstrated.

Résumé :
In this thesis, three mesh generation software packages have been developed and implemented. The first two were based on structured mesh generation algorithms and used to solve structured surface and volume mesh generation problems of three-dimensional domains. Structured mesh generation algorithms were based on the concept of isoparametric coordinates. In structured surface mesh generation software, quadrilateral mesh elements were generated for complex three-dimensional surfaces and these elements were then triangulated in order to obtain high-quality triangular mesh elements. Structured volume mesh generation software was used to generate hexahedral mesh elements for volumes. Tetrahedral mesh elements were constructed from hexahedral elements using hexahedral node insertion method. The results, which were produced by the mesh generation algorithms, were converted to a required format in order to be saved in output files. The third software package is an unstructured quality tetrahedral mesh generator and was used to generate exact Delaunay tetrahedralizations, constrained (conforming) Delaunay tetrahedralizations and quality conforming Delaunay tetrahedralizations. Apart from the mesh generation algorithms used and implemented in this thesis, unstructured mesh generation techniques that can be used to generate quadrilateral, triangular, hexahedral and tetrahedral mesh elements were also discussed.

Résumé :
The enhancement of node projection techniques in sweeping is the subject of this thesis. Sweeping is a method used to produce all-hexahedral finite element meshes on certain classes of geometry. The placement of nodes in the interior of the geometry during the sweeping process remains a difficult problem. This thesis presents advancements in this area which improve the speed of the algorithm and the resulting element quality. A comparison of existing projection methods was performed. The existing Faceted projection sweeping method was extended to be applicable to more general classes of sweepable geometry. This comparison and extension of node projection algorithms led to the development of a new node projection technique: the SmartAffine method. This method builds on previous techniques and is characterized by its speed. Finally, a technique for coupling node projection techniques is presented. This technique characterizes the complexity of the sweepable geometry and applies the most appropriate node projection scheme. This is accomplished without user interaction and improves the speed of the sweeping algorithm and the quality of swept meshes.

Résumé :
Includes bibliographical references.
The research community and industry alike have, over the past decade, been showing considerable interest in packet-switching networks to support voice services as well as data services. A technology that was standardised to accommodate these delay-sensitive requirements is Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), which deals particularly well at transporting uncompressed voice and data. However, due to the exponential increase in wireless applications and their supporting access technologies, a need has arisen for an infrastructure in the wide area network to support and maintain the QoS requirements of low-bit rate, compressed voice. An adaptation layer known as AAL2 was re-standardised to support these specialised voice services. However, a severe side-effect of using AAL2 with traditional ATM switches results in inefficient routing and waste-age of resources. In this study, a design for an AAL2 switching node will be proposed to address the above-mentioned issues. The design is comprised of modules that perform the following functions: Buffering, payload interrogation, protocol translations, packet classification, packet re- routing, timing, scheduling and support for signalling and management interfacing. The supporting architecture is targeted towards an embedded >286-based computing system, which itself is overlaid upon one or several ports of a high-speed, research-oriented ATM switch, known as the Washington University Gigabit Switch (WUGS). In order to evaluate the operation and performance of the AAL2 switch architecture, a testbed is proposed and implemented, comprising the AAL2 switch at the core, with a supporting infrastructure to emulate the generation and analysis of low bit-rate voice traffic over an AAL2 connection. By conducting a set of experiments, a series of operational and performance results will be presented. Particular focus will be placed on the performance and efficiency of the AAL2 layer over ATM, as well as the ability of the switch to route packets from multiple sources to a set of output connections in the correct manner.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in women in the United States. Complications that lead to mortality of cancer patients are associated with tumor metastasis. Specifically, lymphatic metastasis in breast cancer patients strongly correlates with poor patient survival and this process is facilitated by the formation of new tumor lymphatic vessels termed lymphangiogenesis. Previously, our lab reported that lymphangiogenesis was promoted by a distinct subset of bone marrow (BM)-derived myeloid cells that co-express lymphatic-specific markers designated as myeloid-derived endothelial cell progenitors (M-LECPs). Furthermore, our lab has generated M-LECP in vitro from a mouse macrophage cell line (RAW264.7) by LPS stimulation. Taken together, these data suggest that chronically inflamed sites drive M-LECP differentiation and that these cells can contribute to the formation of new lymphatic vessels and promote lymph node metastasis. Evidence supporting this hypothesis was indicated by high levels of circulating M-LECP in peripheral blood of breast cancer patients but undetectable levels in healthy donors, cancer-free donors. Additionally, the generation of M-LECP was prompted through TLR4-signaling pathway, and de novo expression of VEGFR-3 and VEGF-C. This co-expression produces an autocrine loop essential for pro-lymphatic reprogramming in both primary human monocytes and the immature monocytic cell line, THP-1. Taken together, these data indicate the major regulatory role of TLR4 in inflammation-driven lymphangiogenesis involves the recruitment and differentiation of M-LECP, a process that may promote lymphatic metastasis.

Résumé :
Wireline telecommunications infrastructure in the customer access network or CAN is undergoing a veritable technological and commercial revolution. The paired-copper CAN is being modernised with optical fibre deployed ever closer to customers, culminating soon with fibre-to-the-home networks or some variant thereof. Although bandwidth ceases to be a scarce commodity, the underlying natural monopoly will most likely be strengthened. National competition policy desires open access to multiple service providers yet commercial pressure calls for closure. This has been the recent experience with the hybrid fibre coaxial networks delivering pay television and Internet access. This research asks the question: What are the factors that prevent open access to the broadband services of next generation wireline infrastructure? How can these obstacles be overcome? A particular focus is given to non-price considerations which come to the fore due to the unique strategic and technological characteristics of optical fibre in the access network. The methodological approach involves data gathering via three case studies - that of the Telstra/Foxtel pay television network, the TransACT broadband network and fibre-to-the-home networks in general. Although the ultimate focus is on the research question above, these cases are discussed in a holistic way with consideration of a number of contextual factors. The research also examines the relationship between the concepts of 'open access' and 'network neutrality', visiting the concept of 'common carriage' in doing so. Several findings are reached that illuminate the field of telecommunications access regulation as applied to infrastructure capable of delivering truly next generation broadband services. Since 1993, our politicians have only paid lip service to the importance of competition and have deferred to the demands of the dominant builder of telecommunications infrastructure. From the viewpoints of end-users and access seekers, the access regime is found to be incapable of dealing with the technical and commercial bottlenecks arising from optical fibre in the CAN. It is concluded that communication between users should be recognised as the prime purpose of telecommunications and that the regulatory regime should not reward discriminatory practices detracting from the development of a networked information economy. It is also concluded that dominant players should never be rewarded with access holidays which could otherwise entrench market dominance through the creation of new bottlenecks. Access regulation is ill-equipped to cope with optical fibre in the CAN until it also recognizes the strategic potential of such infrastructure.

Résumé :
Abstract A large number of manufacturing operation planning problems can be formulated as state-space search problems. In case of sheet-metal bending operation planning, processing a search node involves extensive geometric reasoning and many other types of complex computation steps. Such computation-intensive node-processing limits the number of search nodes that can be expanded in a reasonable amount of time, making it difficult to solve real-life operation planning problems. In this paper, we describe a scheme to speed up operation planning by virtual generation of state-space nodes. In this scheme, we eliminate unnecessary computation at the time of node generation by extracting the required information from already generated nodes. Although generation of two different search nodes rarely involves identical computation steps, there is considerable overlap in node generation steps. We have divided the node generation step into a number of computation subproblems. When we need to generate a new node, we first try to see if any of the node generation subproblems have been solved for any of the already generated nodes. If any subproblem has already been solved for some other node, then we use the solution of that subproblem to save computation time. In such cases, we do not perform node generation computation steps, and therefore we call such node generation virtual. The scheme presented in this paper increases the node generation capability and allows us to generate many more search nodes. We believe that the ability to consider more search nodes will help us in solving more complex problems and finding better operation plans.

Résumé :
We study the problem of Network Embedding (NE) for content-rich networks. NE models aim to learn efficient low-dimensional dense vectors for network vertices which are crucial to many network analysis tasks. The core problem of content-rich network embedding is to learn and integrate the semantic information conveyed by network structure and node content. In this paper, we propose a general end-to-end model, Dual GEnerative Network Embedding (DGENE), to leverage the complementary information of network structure and content. In this model, each vertex is regarded as an object with two modalities: node identity and textual content. Then we formulate two dual generation tasks. One is Node Identification (NI) which recognizes nodes’ identities given their contents. Inversely, the other one is Content Generation (CG) which generates textual contents given the nodes’ identities. We develop specific Content2Node and Node2Content models for the two tasks. Under the DGENE framework, the two dual models are learned by sharing and integrating intermediate layers, with which they mutually enhance each other. Extensive experimental results show that our model yields a significant performance gain compared to the state-of-the-art NE methods. Moreover, our model has an interesting and useful byproduct, that is, a component of our model can generate texts, which is potentially useful for many tasks.

Résumé :
Generation of the grid for blade passages with packaging using universal grid generators usually takes much time. The paper is devoted to grid generation in turbo machine blade passages with packaging in automatic mode. The main requirement to the approach is to obtain the grid with minimum engineer participant. In the developed procedure engineer must specify only general input data: number of nodes, cell size near solid bodies and geometrical data. Multiblock structured grids are considered. All grid blocks have node-to-node attachment between each other; periodicity is also specified from node to node. The grid in blade passage consists of two blocks: “O” grid around blade and “H” grid in blade passage. Additional blocks are used to describe different ZR-effects such us tip clearances, leakage seals and bleed air systems. A variational method of constructing three dimensional grids composed of hexahedral cells is applied. The combination of the energy density functional and cell size functional is used. The first functional lets us control the shapes and the second functional lets us control the sizes of grid cells. Grid untangling procedure is also developed. Developed approach was tested using the blades of axial and centrifugal compressors and axial turbines. Results of grid generation are presented.

Résumé :
Latin American and Caribbean countries have made efforts to ensure that fiscal policies do not cause biases toward women. However, depending on where the tax burden falls, taxes do create gender biases. This technical note has two purposes. First, it provides evidence of how womens economic participation, care responsibilities, and consumption patterns enter into a countrys tax systems, generating invisible biases. Second, it summarizes the main lessons learned through cross-country comparisons that analyze the impact of direct and indirect taxes on gender equality, the progressivity of the tax systems using both income and expenditure as welfare measures, and the impact of tax systems and tax reforms on households depending on their composition and across the income distribution. The note also provides policy recommendations and good practices that will add to the regions efforts to strengthen fiscal policy taking a gender perspective into account. There is no unique approach to achieving gender equity only through gender-sensitive fiscal policies; rather, the path to change will likely be highly dependent on the balance struck between differing political and economic factors and interests. However, should Latin American and the Caribbean countries take on this challenge, not only could they generate more revenue in the future, but the changes should contribute to sustained and inclusive growth, with greater gender equality.

Résumé :
This technical note describes how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected Latin America and the Caribbean, and considers the implications for future population health, health spending, healthcare service reforms, and investments to prepare for future health emergencies. It provides a summary of the few existing empirical studies and then contributes original analysis using administrative data from hospitals and vital registration systems in five countries. It shows substantial declines in health and healthcare delivery during the first year of the pandemic, especially for preventive and elective care. Some countries were able to return healthcare to historical levels, while others were still below average in 2021. The study concludes with reflections on how the pandemic has altered health policy recommendations for the region, generating a greater sense of urgency to make progress on long-standing agendas such as eliminating fragmentation, integrating care, and pursuing digital transformation while reordering priorities toward investments in emergency preparedness, disease surveillance, resilience, and self-sufficiency. In other words, going beyond normal.
