Texte intégralThe ethnic tourism is one of the potential areas for the development of the national tourist activity nowadays in Brazil, since the historic interest of African-Americans widens through the popularization of an ethnic tourist product. This dissertation is the result of a research, made with African-American tourists in Rio de Janeiro, which shows the way, as consumers and through racial demands, they manage to influence the configuration of the cariocas tourist market. Curiously, behind those demands was a political background, oriented by gender roles, which helps to visualize the dynamic of the sexual tourism involving that population in the Wonderful City. It shows that the African-American tourist universe in Rio is basically divided into two groups: the ethnic one, which is mainly formed by women and, the sexual one, only formed by men. Such a difference suggests that the racial demands imposed by the ethnic tourism may be gender oriented, which indicates the African-American women preoccupation in establishing identities and finding out the differences about places where blacks may have taken part of the local history, which has nothing to do with the concerns of the sexual tourists.

The antiracist pedagogical practices at Childhood Education are the problem-theme of this doctoral thesis. Its aim is to analyze the elements which guide such practices in a Municipal Center of Childhood Education (CMEI) in Recife and its influence in the construction of the children and blacks’ racial identity. This research is based on the child perspective as a unique subject. It is founded on the assumption that Education in/for the Human Rights, which absorbs from the Childhood Education the right to the difference in terms of interculturality, has contributed to the children and the black ones to positively construct their racial identity. Referenced by these theoretical aspects of analysis, the research tried to answer the following questions: which educational practices are being developed by the CMEI staff, which is committed to an antiracist education? Which are the underlying elements to these practices? How are the children in these groups developing their racial identity? For this reason, we used the premises of the qualitative research and the case study, since we desired to share with the people and the place of the research guided by the unveiling of the power relations and the implicit domination to the issues of the ethnic-racial relations. The subjects of the research were: the manager, the coordinator, a teacher, two childhood development auxiliaries and twenty children from group IV. The semi-structured interview and cartoon books about racial conflicts were used as instruments for the adults. With the children, there were interviews with strategies about the self-portrait, followed by the self-identification, storytelling with black characters, male and female ones, and the modeling of princes and princesses. The analyses have showed that the practices developed at CMEI assume the incorporation of the other as genuinely the other. Thus, it could mean a perspective established in an Education in/for the Human Rights. But the implementation of an antiracist education is not easy to happen in a peaceful and consensual way, since not the whole staff and community understand the importance of this discussion. Nevertheless, part of the CMEI school staff develops the pedagogical work using this topic. This commitment with the reeducation of the ethnic-racial relations has contributed to the children to notice the differences as something positive and to some of these children and black ones to recognize themselves as black and be proud of that. Thus, we emphasize a gender component which underlies the ethnic-racial relations at CMEI: the strategies of positive statement of being a child and a black one are more centered in the girls. While they are encouraged to appreciate their body and their hair, through the care and education dimensions of the stories presented on the childhood literature books, for the boys these strategies have been minimally proposed. For the boy and the black one, there is little visibility and care. For them, there is the wish to change their color/race. Finally, we observe that the children use in their racial self-identification elements that are close to the categories used by the adults, therefore methodologies may be thought so that they are considered as subjects able to name their color/race in official researches.

Texte intégral--- The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the extract of coca leaves (Erythroxylum coca), on Black Pigmented Bacteria (BNP). Those periodontopathogenic bacterias are Gram negative and strict anaerobic, also they are strongly related with the progression of periodontitis. To this purpose, the study used two different kinds of tests; the first, Agar Diffusion Test; and the second, Dilution Test in Liquid Medium. BNP strains were isolated from samples taken from periodontal pockets (greater than 4 mm) of patients with periodontal disease treated at the Faculty of Dentistry of San Marcos University. The coca leaf extract was obtained from the National Coca Company (ENACO). The results of the first study indicated that the extract of Erythroxylum coca has zero sensitivity (-) for most of the tested concentrations, and sensitivity limit (sensitivity: +) to the concentration of 12,5 % and 100 %. The results of the second study determined a minimum concentration of extract able to inhibit the growth of said bacterium; this value was 100% (CMI) Also, concentrations of 12,5 % and 6,25 %, both indicated repowering of the antibacterial effect of the extract. Therefore it is concluded that, the extract of coca leaf has an antibacterial activity against BNP, in concentrations of 100% and 12, 5%. KEY WORDS: Extract, coca, antibacterial, anaerobic bacteria.

Upadhaya, Taman. « Multimodal radiomics in neuro-oncology ». Thesis, Brest, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017BRES0036/document.
Texte intégralGlioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a WHO grade IV tumor that represents 49% of ail brain tumours. Despite aggressive treatment modalities (radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgical resections) the prognosis is poor, as médian overall survival (OS) is 12-14 months. GBM’s neuroimaging (non-invasive) features can provide opportunities for subclassification, prognostication, and the development of targeted therapies that could advance the clinical practice. This thesis focuses on developing a prognostic model based on multimodal MRI-derived (Tl pre- and post-contrast, T2 and FLAIR) radiomics in GBM. The proposed methodological framework consists in i) registering the available 3D multimodal MR images andsegmenting the tumor volume, ii) extracting radiomics iii) building and validating a prognostic model using machine learning algorithms applied to multicentric clinical cohorts of patients. The core component of the framework rely on extracting radiomics (including intensity, shape and textural metrics) and building prognostic models using two different machine learning algorithms (Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF)) that were compared by selecting, ranking and combining optimal features. The potential benefits and respective impact of several MRI pre-processing steps (spatial resampling of the voxels, intensities quantization and normalization, segmentation) for reliable extraction of radiomics was thoroughly assessed. Moreover, the standardization of the radiomics features among methodological teams was done by contributing to “Multicentre Initiative for Standardisation of Radiomics”. The accuracy obtained on the independent test dataset using SVM and RF reached upto 83%- 77% when combining ail available features and upto 87%-77% when using only reliable features previously identified as robust, depending on number of features and modality. In this thesis, I developed a framework for developing a compréhensive prognostic model for patients with GBM from multimodal MRI-derived “radiomics and machine learning”. The future work will consists in building a unified prognostic model exploiting other contextual data such as genomics. In case of new algorithm development we look forward to develop the Ensemble models and deep learning-based techniques
