Résumé :
This chapter focuses on Italian law as it pertains to the variety of legal provisions relevant to data protection and the access to private-sector data by law enforcement. The relevant sources of law can include interpretations of constitutional provisions by the Italian courts, implementation of EU law in Italian law, and statutory provisions, in particular the Italian “Data Protection Code.” Special rules apply to data processing in specific sectors, in particular the judicial sector, law enforcement, and national security. Several statutes make a broad reporting of private-sector data mandatory. Legislation provides individuals with the opportunity to assert their rights either by filing a private lawsuit or by filing a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority.

Résumé :
This article describes crime and fascist repression in Italy during the rule of Benito Mussolini. It explores the character of Mussolinian totalitarianism and the issue of an alleged continuity between the policing practices of the Liberal and fascist regimes. In terms of its repressive techniques, the dictatorship retooled instruments and organizations that the Liberal state had forged in its social crisis or under the urgent requirements of running the war after 1915. For almost all combatants, the weakness of opposition to the national war effort meant that policy in regard to domestic security could focus on espionage matters. Only in Italy did government have to deal with active and widespread popular hostility to the conflict, organized and run by ‘maximalist’ socialists, with their own deep social roots. To confront this threat, the Liberal state instituted the so-called Sacchi decree against any public show of ‘defeatism’.

Résumé :
Digitalisation and the changing world of work are calling into question the standard employment model as a basis for social security systems. Whilst a growing number of publications deal with the consequences for industrial relations and labour law, social law is still being left out of most research projects on digital work. This book aims at widening the perspective. It concentrates on the two most important questions in the context of social protection in a digitalised world, namely access to social protection systems and their future financing, putting emphasis on platform work. It gives an overview of different national approaches to these questions, it analyses the respective solutions in a comparative manner, and it puts them into a transnational context. By bringing together case studies from Belgium, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, France and Estonia and addressing the specific reform challenges for EU standard setting, EU coordination and the relation to tax law, the book provides new insights on what a “Social Law 4.0” should look like.

Résumé :
This chapter examines a number of global financial institutions. The first is the Group of Eight (G8)—currently known as the Group of 7 (G7)—an informal international forum comprising seven of the world’s leading industrialized nations (US, Japan, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Canada) and Russia. Next, is the G20, which aims to expand the G8. BRICs represents the economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), meanwhile, is tasked with becoming an authoritative centre of research and initiative in economic thought and development. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has four main areas of focus: energy security, economic development, environmental awareness, and engagement worldwide. The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an institutional body which deals with trade liberalization. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, both established in 1944, aim for international economic cooperation, with the latter focusing on development.
