Résumé :
The article analyzes the current trends in the field of “supertext” studies, summarizes the reflection on the “Nizhny Novgorod text of Russian literature,” as well as border chronotopes, carried out in the period from 2007 to the present. Authors of the article indicate the main directions of research, such as the identification and description of the sacred toposes of the Nizhny Novgorod land, the comprehension of the value vectors of Russian literature, which were configured in a number of stable images: the images of the city of Kitezh, the Volga, the Diveevsky and Sarov sacred toposes, the image of Seraphim of Sarov. The review article presents the representative characteristics of the national-regional component. Theese features establish the relationship of creativity with the cultural and historical geospace, which appears as the spiritual homeland of the writer (protopop Avvakum, M. Gorky, E. Chirikov, etc.). An important component of literary discourse is the national image-character, which retains positively marked, sometimes ideal features (from the life of Alexander Nevsky to the heroes of E. Dolmatovsky’s “Sormovskaya Lyric”). The article outlines prospects for further research.

Résumé :
This article examines Finnish language literature in Russian Karelia on the Russian–Finnish national borderland from the 1940s until the 1970s. It focuses on the concepts of the non-Russian language space and border that are constructed and studied in the context of three novels: Iira (1947), Tiny White Bird (1961), and We Karelians (1971). The article claims that the non-Russian language space and the national border started to be understood differently from the official degrees dictated by Moscow, as found in literature already from the late 1950s and early 1960s. From the 1950s onwards, the historical, linguistic, and cultural roots across the national border and the Finnish population were allowed to be recognized in literature. Furthermore, this article claims that in the 1970s, literature was able to represent such regional history, and also the closeness and permeability of the national border that influenced the lives of the Soviet Karelian non-Russian speaking population and their identity formation. This led to different ideas of the national border, in which the border and its functions and meanings became gradually more multi-voiced, ambivalent and controversial, in comparison to the conceptualization of the border as presenting a strict, impermeable boundary.

Résumé :
The article aims to reveal the changes in studies of Russian literature in Russia and the United Kingdom in the last three decades. The authors use the concept of the Russian literary canon to highlight the differences in the content and focus of the study of Russian literature. The empirical base of the research is Russian official documents, school textbooks, syllabi of university courses in Russian literature, and the collections of university libraries in the UK. Russian literary canon has changed to bridge the ideological break in Russian literature of the twentieth century. In Russia, the main channel for transmitting the canon is school education. The study of literature is supposed to ensure the formation of national identity, patriotism, humanistic values, and understanding of the exclusivity of Russian literature. The national canon understood as “compulsory reading”, performs socializing, educational, and stabilizing functions. The study of Russian literature in the UK began in the late 19th century at universities, where course content reflected the changing political context. Library collections and university curricula demonstrate the wide range of authors and research topics studied. The study of Russian literature in the UK could not be defined through the Russian literature canon as there is no mandatory reading, and it is studied mainly in translation. Thus, there is no connection between language and literature. The stable interest in the UK towards Russian literature of the 19th and 20th centuries confirms that it belongs to the world’s cultural heritage beyond national borders.

Résumé :
: The aim of this review article is to demonstrate the developmental process of Russian language and literature education in Turkey from a historical perspective. The historical process reveals that Russian language was first taught in the madrasas in the 18th century. Due to the increased use of the Russian language in the army after the reforms initiated by Tsar Peter I, the teaching of the Russian language in military schools officially started in 1882. In 1935, the Department of Russian language and literature was established at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography of Ankara University. Starting in the 1990s, Russian language and literature departments have been opened in many universities such as Istanbul University, Selçuk University, Erciyes University, Gazi University and Kafkas University. Currently, there are Russian language and literature departments in seventeen universities in Turkey, and four universities offer programs in Russian translation and interpretation. The article provides information about the cities, faculties, student quotas and the number of academic staff of these departments as of the year 2023. Additionally, the article elaborates on the ‘‘ÖYP’’ (Teaching Staff Training Program) and the Law No 1416 on Sending Students to Foreign Countries, which is facilitated by the Ministry of National Education. Thе information was obtained from the official website of the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey (YÖK) and the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey (M.E.B.). This study applies the traditional review method. As a result of this research, the need for expanding scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and Turkey is emphasized to continue and encourage interest in research in the fields of Russian language, literature, culture, and history.

Résumé :
The author of the article focuses on the image of letters as a symbol of national historical memory - on the example of Sukhbat Aflatuni’s story “Clay letters, floating apples”, where the letters act not only in their direct meaning, they are the antithesis of the imposed culture, language, historical interpretations. The article substantiates the legitimacy of using the term “transcultural literature” instead of the common and illogical one - “Russian-language literature”, since in this type of creativity the image of a different ethnic picture of the world, other national images of the world is paramount. The novel “Hands-rivers” by the contemporary writer Liana Shahverdyan is analyzed precisely in the categories of transcultural literature: the novel highlights the key themes and problems associated with the restoration of ancestral memory of family and the Armenian people, who, like millions of Soviet citizens, were subjected to Stalinist repressions. The metaphor of the carpet weaving culture, the carpet, the images of the local fauna - birds and snakes became the key ones in the analysis of the plot of the novel “Hands-rivers”. The novel by Liana Shahverdyan, based on archival documents, fills in the lost page of the history of the ХХth century, thus fitting into the current archival vector of the contemporary literary process.

Résumé :
The article is devoted to the modern literary process in Kazakhstan, specially its Russian and Russian-speaking segment against the background of integration movements in the world and specific cultural processes in the post-Soviet space. It reveals how much the situation and part of literature created in Russian language in the region over the past decades has changed, how a different identity, the mentality of a different culture is expressed and how in turn this culture affects Russian-language texts. An attempt is made to trace the main trends in the development of modern Kazakhstani literature in Russian, in connection with which the works of I. Odegov, G. Doronin, H. Adibaev, D. Nakipov, A. Zhaksylykov and others are analyzed. It is concluded that the Russian language, even after losing its former status, remains in demand in the literature not only by ethnic Russians, but also by Kazakh bilinguals who are successfully experimenting with Turkisms. At the same time, Russian authors are concerned about the preservation of national identity, which motivates the appeal to classics and national folklore, while Kazakhs are more focused on the space of world literature.

The problem of Russian-language Literature of the far-abroad countries has been little studied by home literary critics and the concept itself has been developed only in application to the literature of Russian peoples and the near abroad. Creative associations and periodicals play an important role in the formation of a new type of Russian literature. Germany turned out to be the European center of Russian-language literature, just like a hundred years ago. The Russian-language literature is published by differently oriented periodicals among which are magazines adherent to the idea of two Russian literatures; magazines supporting the unity of the Russian literature and those tending to reveal the peculiarities of émigré Russian literature through the comparison it with the metropolitan one. The Russian-language literary prosses take place in a variety of periodicals and has signs of one of the national micro-cultures in the European space.

Résumé :
According to the papers of late 20th and early 21st centuries devoted to the belles-lettres written in Russian, a term “Russian literature” or “Russian-language literature” is used along with another term “Russophone literature.” The different understandings of the word “Russophonia” are presented, the views of scientists on the spatial and temporal boundaries of this phenomenon are studied. Additionally, the author provides and analyzes various classifications that allow the users to determine the text corpus attributable to the Russophone literature, as well as the place of this literature in the modern literary process. Based on the study of relevant works by both domestic and foreign scientists, it was concluded that the term of Russophonia dated back to the times of the Russian Empire's colonial expansion in Central Asia and the Caucasus. The development of national literatures and the ideology of people's friendship during the Soviet period, the collapse of the Soviet Union (when people living in one state became the citizens of different countries) contributed to the development and widespread dissemination of Russophonia. This phenomenon, as well as the Russophone literature, is not limited to the geographical boundaries of the states. It can be also assumed that the “Russophone literature” is fairly synonymous with the expression “Russian-language literature.” Still, the use of the “Russophone literature” is considered to be the most suitable and reasonable in relation to the modern Russian-language literature since, according to a number of researchers, it has no ethnical, political and geographical correlation. It is more neutral and harmonious (for example, when translated into English).

Résumé :
The turn of the 20th–21st centuries is characterized by highly intensive processes of national self-identification. An important role in this process is played by fantasy as a popular genre of popular literature. The study of Kazakh fantasy is of academic interest due to its popularity with readers, the dynamic transformation of the genre structure. The article demonstrates a wide genre spectrum of Kazakh fantasy books and their authors. In the novel Resurrecting Legends Timur Yermashev turns to the heroic page in the history of the Kazakhs – the Orbulak battle of the 17th century. Ilyaz Nurgaliyev consistently works with national myths and folklore images of the Turkic peoples. Azamat Baigaliev and Kira Nurullina write about aliens. Sabyr Kairkhanov in the format of urban fantasy (the novel Synchro) raises the question of the ambiguous role of the Semipalatinsk test site in the life of the Kazakhs. An example of the combination of children’s and adventure fantasy is the novel by Zira Naurzbayeva and Lily Kalaus In Search of the Golden Bowl: The Adventures of Batu and His Friends. Particularly popular are fantasy texts with plots based on the facts of national history, those resurrecting the heroes of Kazakhstani mythology, national traditions and customs. The themes and poetics of Kazakh fantasy are in line with the processes developing in modern prose, the nature of the transformation of the genre correlates with the changing readership. Fantasy readers are mainly representatives of a certain social and age group, those attracted by the topical issues raised – the growth of national self-consciousness – combined with an exciting adventurous plot. The entertaining genre of popular literature has taken on an important ideological function – to promote and shape the national identity of the Kazakhs in a situation of geopolitical changes.

Résumé :
The promotion of the Russian language in the world is one of the main goals of the modern Russian education strategy. An important part of this problem is teaching Russian to foreigners in Russian universities. The current problem of modern Russian studies is the search for the most effective forms, methods and means of Russian language learning. Teaching Russian to foreigners should be built on an interdisciplinary basis. The most important component of teaching Russian to foreign students is literature. Turning to it, foreigners get acquainted with the history, culture and traditions of Russia from different eras. Russian literature is very popular in different countries. The works of Russian writers are studied in schools and universities in China. The article presents the authorial method of teaching the Russian language to Chinese bachelors and masters based on a graphical and symbolic analysis of Russian literature. Our methodology uses the practice-oriented traditions of semiotics, mnemonics and ergonomics. When studying Ivan Turgenev’s story “Bezhin Meadow”, we focus on the features of its analysis in the Chinese audience. This lesson is preceded by a historical-literary and cultural commentary of the teacher who uses various multimedia tools. An integral part of our methodology is the creation of an adapted educational text with marked stresses, vocabulary work and various types of retelling, grammar tasks and a graphic drawing of the analyzed text. With this approach to the educational process, foreign students develop visual memory, better understand Russian grammar and improve oral coherent speech, which contributes to a deeper and more meaningful interest in the Russian language. The use of modern technologies, while working on a literary text, helps foreign students to better understand the national flavor of Russian literature. The study has led to the need to implement new approaches to teaching the Russian language to Chinese students at the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov.

Résumé :
The article analyzes the process of forming the image of Russia and Russian people by means of Russian literature. Russian literature perception in China, the transformation of the Russian literature mission in China can be traced over five periods: Russian literature of the XIX century, Soviet “Red Classics”, Russian literature in the 1960s, Russian literature in the 1980s, Russian literature after the collapse of the USSR to the present time. Currently the amount of publication as well as the number of those who read modern Russian literature in China are gradually declining, this leads to the fact that its influence on Chinese society is decreasing. However, the influence of modern Russian literature in China will last for a long time, it is simply observed in the literature itself, not concerning other factors, because without understanding Russian fiction, it is impossible to understand the national mentality and to form the image of Russia.

Résumé :
In the era of globalization and cultural interaction, the themes of national identity and historical trauma gain prominence in literature. Vasily Shukshin, an esteemed Russian writer and filmmaker, adeptly addresses these themes through his portrayal of the Russian countryside and the lives of ordinary people. His works provide a deep understanding of cultural interactions and the effects of globalization on individuals and society. Shukshin explores complex issues of human existence, such as the search for meaning, the struggle to preserve tradition, and resistance to cultural assimilation. His storytelling offers valuable insights into contemporary global challenges, making his work highly relevant for literary studies. This article presents a literary analysis of Vasily Shukshin's short stories, with a focus on how themes of national identity and historical trauma influence the narrative and character development. The research is innovative in its approach, intertwining these themes to assess their impact on character formation and plot progression. It highlights Shukshin's significant contributions to Russian literature and his role in elucidating Russian national identity and historical memory. The study finds that national identity in Shukshin's works is deeply intertwined with the culture and traditions of the Russian village, while historical trauma reflects the repercussions of significant events on individuals' lives and consciousness. The interaction of these themes forms unique life stories of the characters, allowing for a deeper understanding of the Russian psyche and its connection to the past. This analysis underscores the importance of Shukshin's works in the context of Russian literature and their contribution to the understanding of Russian national identity and historical memory.

Résumé :
The aim of the paper is to accentuate the problem of theoretical-and-metidological basis for writing the histories of national literatures of peoples of Russia. The main objectives imply the generalization of the experience on national literatires’ histories writing, mainly on the material of the Volga Region literatures) and to represent the concept of “The History of Tatar Literature” in Russian. Because of the lack of attention to national literatures in Russia various types of histories of national literatures such as academic, popular, educational, are in demand. The D.S. Likhachyov’ idea of theoretical history of literature is chosen as a concept for academic five-volume “History of Tatar Literature” (the project is being realized by the G. Ibraghimov’s Institute of Language, Literature and Arts of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan). At the same time the concept is to be corrected according to the so-called “expectation horizon” of a Russian reader, not being aware of Tatar literature well enough.

Résumé :
The paper provides an analytical and historical survey of the studies of the interaction between literature and philosophy in the Russian and foreign humanities. Particular attention is paid to the paradoxical fact that despite the obvious synergy of philosophy and literature in Russian culture, which is essentially “a form of national self-consciousness,” there have not yet been developed optimal methods and tools to access the philosophy of the literary text. Thus, huge factual material has been left unexamined. It seems that the current surge of interest in the interaction of literature and philosophy is related not so much to the national cultural tradition as to the relevance of this topic in the West, where non-literary circumstances have not affected philosophical interpretation of literary texts. The break with the original national philosophy of the early 20th century, caused by socio-historical cataclysms, has posed a dilemma for Russian scholars: either to leave theoretical questions unresolved or resolve them with the reference to the Western models offered by the “continental” tradition or the analytical philosophy of literature.

Résumé :
The article explains the purpose of creating an exemplary program of the subject “Native literature (Russian)” connected with the execution of the Federal Law on Education, supporting the main aim of the core course in literature – the development of a competent reader, as well as reinforcing the cultivating function of school literary education and preserving the Russian language, literature and culture against the background of Russian multi-ethnic and multicultural society. The following objectives of the new subject acquire particular significance: perceiving literature as one of the main cultural values of the nation (which reflects its national character, history, worldview); ensuring cultural self-identification, becoming aware of the communicative and aesthetic power of the mother tongue based on the study of outstanding literary creations of the Russian culture, the culture of one’s ethnic group, world culture. The methodological background to the exemplary program rests upon the idea of an ideological nature and educational potential of the Russian literature. In creating the didactic model in question, the authors of the program used theoretical and practical research methods, as well as the cognitive and system- and activity-based approaches. The results of the research were as follows: validation of the legal and regulatory framework of the new subject and the primary goals of its study, elaboration of the principles – which are based on the system of value codes shared by the whole nation’s cultural tradition – according to which the contents and structure of the course are selected. The article demonstrates what distinguishes “Native literature (Russian)” from the school subject “Literature”, how each of the three content branches of the program contributes to the development of subject knowledge and skills from grade to grade, why this or that recommended literary work is included in the topic-issue units, and which forms of the final subject assessment are most preferable. The exemplary program of the subject contributes to solving the issue of national and cultural identity and understanding what role the Russian literature plays in becoming aware of the national traits of the Russian culture. It also fosters the comprehension of cultural concepts that are crucial for the Russian national consciousness and the development of one’s ability to transform his/her reflections on works of native literature into personal convictions and positive values.

Résumé :
Environmental safety is one of the sustainable development priorities of the Russian Federation. Increasing chemical pollutant emissions resulting from activities of industry, power engineering, traffic, and capital construction facilities into the environment cause both human life and health hazard risks. The object of this study was identifying approaches to harmonization of European and Russian human biomonitoring systems, which contributes to an assessment of harmful environmental chemical pollutant effects on human health. International and Russian regulatory legal acts, procedural documents were used as study materials, a set of general research methods was applied. Major problems that arise when assessing chemical pollutant exposures using human biomonitoring methods (HBM) are considered. The analysis of procedural materials of Russian Federation and European countries used in HBM revealed certain imperfections of Russian regulatory and procedural framework. Challenges in biomonitoring study are shown as follows: the choice of an informative biomarker and biological material; lack of standardized sampling techniques, harmonized methods for the analysis of biological materials, presentation of results, determination of allowable exposure levels. These discrepancies result in incommensurate results reducing reliability and significance levels of epidemiological studies. The paper summarizes international research experience in European countries, which could be the basis for the development of regulations for carrying out HBM in the Russian Federation. This document should be harmonized following the provisions of European documents, be terminologically uniform.

Résumé :
INTRODUCTION. Ch.T. Aitmatov (1928–2008) is a major writer whose work was originally associated with Kyrgyzstan, was widely known in the Soviet Union, and recognized by the world cultural community. His prose is associated with several directions and trends in Russian Soviet literature. The purpose of the study is to draw parallels between Aitmatov’s works of the 1960–1980s and Russian traditionalist literature of that time, to establish the degree of poetic “kinship” between phenomena belonging to different national cultures.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material is Ch. Aitmatov’s stories “My Poplar in a Red Scarf”, “Mother’s Field”, the novel “Stormy Stop”, F. Abramov’s novel “Home”, V. Astafiev’s stories, V. Shukshin’s stories. The main methods of studying the material are comparative typological, historical and genetic; a mythopoetic approach to the analysis of literary works is also used.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It has been established that Ch. Aitmatov’s prose is related to “industrial literature”, to “lyrical prose”, to “youth literature”. The connections between Aitmatov’s stories and novels and “village prose” turn out to be closer. The desire to preserve memory, traditions, and archetypes of behavior characteristic of the centuries-old culture of the Kyrgyz people is of great importance for the heroes of Ch. Aitmatov’s stories and novels. This trend also characterizes Russian traditionalist literature of the 1960–1980s, which declared the need for a careful attitude towards Russian national traditions. In many respects, the images of the main characters and the mythological motifs of the works of Ch. Aitmatov and the Russian “villages” turn out to be consonant and comparable in a number of parameters. Significant similarities were revealed in the perception of the native land and fields in the works of the “villagers” and Ch. Aitmatov, in the depiction of ambiguous socio-ethical processes in Soviet society of the 1960–1980s, in the understanding of the processes of corrosion of a national character.CONCLUSION. Prose by Ch.T. Aitmatov is close to various currents of Russian literature of the twentieth century in its characteristic humanistic orientation, in its attention to the hero involved in solving acute social and ethical problems of the time. Ch. Aitmatov’s prose is characterized by a poetic “kinship” with the traditionalist direction of Russian literature, manifested in genre, composition, figurative, ideological analogies and correspondences between phenomena belonging to different national cultures. They are brought together by the image of the mother earth, an attempt to rehabilitate and preserve the archetypes of national ethics, to integrate them into modernity full of contradictions. It seems promising to further study the parallels between Ch. Aitmatov’s prose and Russian traditionalist literature in order to determine the national identity of the writers’ artistic worlds and clarify the origins of the commonality of their concepts of the world and man.

Résumé :
The article presents the assessment of S. Aksakov’s artistic heritage by English critics and writers. We prove that the Russian writer unites European cultures by using universal content. Along with the classics of Russian literature – I. Turgenev, L. Tolstoy and F. Dostoevsky, S. Aksakov’s prose has worldwide significance. The year 1991 was declared by UNESCO the Year of Sergei Aksakov. Aksakov’s “The Family Chronicle” was translated into German by Sergei Rachinsky and was highly praised by A. Herzen. After James Duff translated Aksakov’s trilogy into English, the writer, along with Turgenev, Tolstoy, Gogol and Chekhov, entered the “golden fund of world literature”. The special interest to Aksakov in England was noticeable both in the early 20th century and in the 1980, when his works became bestsellers along with the works of famous Victorians. The article reveals the role of Dmitry Mirsky in popularizing Russian classics, as well as Virginia Woolf, according to whose testimony books by Russian authors Aksakov, Chekhov Turgenev and Dostoevsky found the most enthusiastic response among English readers. The article also touches upon the translation specifics of Aksakov’s works into English.

We consider the issue of studying the peculiarities of the Russian national character, understanding national character helps students to gain knowledge in psychological and pedagogical disciplines, the Russian language, literature, history. We analyzed and evaluate material contributing to the implementation of academic and educational activities. The research focuses on the personal, substantive and social characteristics of representatives of the Russian ethnic group. Knowledge about the peculiarities of the Russian national character is considered as secondary new knowledge about the native language, national culture, and history. The emphasized unpredictability of ethnic processes in modern Russia makes the subject of our study relevant. We consider the Russian national character as a unique subject of history with personal psychological characteristics. Modern scientists consider the issues of Russian mentality through the definition of a subject field connected with the national character. Despite the many points of view on the solution of the issue, it is still relevant, but not implemented. The understanding of the ways of development of Russian emigrant literature was reflected in the discussion between V.G. Fyodorov, D.V. Filosofov and D.S. Merezhkovsky in the Warsaw journal "Mech" ("Sword") and further in the polemic between V.F. Khodasevich and G.V. Adamovich. Should national literature in emigration be connected both with the native language and with national traditions and culture, or should it be based on the Western cultural tradition? For Khodasevich, the possibility of the development of literature was connected with the creation of new poetic artistic forms based on the national tradition, while Adamovich believed that it needed an artistic expression that was a documentary record of life, which was linked to an orientation towards Western European literary models.

Résumé :
The article is devoted to some aspects of the role of the Russian language in the Russian identity. It analyzes the main concepts of civil nationalism in the Western scientific literature, identifies their elements associated with giving the national language one of the key roles in the formation of civil nations as a special type of solidarity (the concepts of E. Gellner, B. Anderson, E. Hobsbawm, M. Billig, etc.). It is shown that national languages, formed under the influence of certain economic and political circumstances, continue to be reproduced as linguistic constructs in the modern conditions of fragmentation of space, trends in the recognition of the rights of linguistic and other minorities, and transformations of the ideas of nationalism. Based on the materials of representative sociological studies in different countries, it is shown that language is the “cornerstone” of national (civil) identity in people’s perceptions – national or nationally dominant languages in different countries are perceived as necessary to be considered part of a civil nation. Russian surveys also show that the Russian language is one of the most important identifiers of Russian identity in the mass representations of our fellow citizens at the moment, which is much more noticeable in the Russian ethnic environment. Russian language potential in the Russian identity is negatively influenced by both long-standing factors (in particular, the opposition of Russian and native languages in language policy and education) and recent factors related to the emphasis on the role of the Russian language as the language of the state-forming people. The article concludes that the potential of the Russian language in the Russian identity is negatively influenced by the long-standing factors (in particular, the opposition of Russian and native languages in language policy and education).

The analysis of scientific literature devoted to the direct history of the first popularly elected government body – the All-Russian Constituent Assembly. In the study, the chronological principle of classification is chosen. Thus, five periods of domestic post-revolutionary historiography are presented, distinguished on the basis of a gradual increase in the source base, as well as an expansion of the range of issues studied in the context of studying the history of the Constituent Assembly. The general conclusion of the historiographic analysis was the increased attention of researchers to the election results, as well as insufficient coverage of the course of the election campaign itself. In addition, it is worth noting the obvious influence of ideology on the shift in emphasis and research goals throughout the entire Soviet period, which manifested itself in the clear predominance of studying the activities of the Bolshevik party, while the issues of election campaigns of the entire spectrum of political forces are underrepresented.

The paper is a review of scientific literature on the issues of the history and modern development of the abroad Russian schools, published in Russia mainly during the previous five years. The author considers several main historiographic complexes: generalizing studies in the field of the history of the Russian abroad in the 20th – 21st centuries, which touch upon the topic of education and upbringing; works on the history of education and pedagogy of Russian emigration in the 1920s – 1980s; publications on the formation and development of the Russian school abroad in the post-Soviet period. To date, the world of education and enlightenment of the Russian post-revolutionary emigration of the 1920s – 1940s in Europe and China has been most deeply studied. To a much lesser extent, the topic of the abroad Russian schools in the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries is reflected in the scientific literature, including the development of education in Russian in the post-Soviet states. The article notes the demand for studying the issues of the Russian school abroad in the humanitarian scientific community of Russia, which is due to the influence of geopolitical processes in the early 2020s on the world of the Russian abroad, including its educational institutions, and the state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of supporting the Russian school abroad. Following the review a conclusion is made that there is a significant potential for scientific research of the Russian school abroad in the period of the second half of the 20th – early 21st century.

This review is dedicated to the book by the American researcher, a famous specialist in the field of literary comparative studies, Dale Peterson, “Up from Bondage. The Literatures of Russian and African American ʽSoul’.” D. Peterson’s work represents the first study that draws a parallel between the evolution of Russian and African-American cultural identities in literary works and analyzes the phenomenon of the “folk soul.” The study is distinguished not only by its innovative approach and high scientific significance but also by its careful research of archival materials, manuscripts, and letters from the authors, which creates a solid basis for subsequent theoretical generalizations. Using the concept of the “polyphonic novel” by M. M. Bakhtin and the theory of culturally embedded speech acts he developed, Peterson concludes that the dynamics of development and deep mentality of Russian and African-American literature are similar.

The article deals with the paradox of the Russian social thought and literature, including the ambiguity of the historical images of Russian westernizers and slavophiles. The travel genre focused on the contrast between us and them. Two outstading Russian pieces of this genre (published almost simultaneously) contributed to the polemics of westernizers and slavophiles reflecting the inconsistencies of their positions. “Letters on Spain” by V.P. Botkin follows the idea, similar to slavophiles’, of the need to preserve the national identity under the conditions of modern (mid 19th century) globalization affecting the suburbs of the European world. The surprising unanimity shown by westernizers and slavophiles (essentialists) in their assessment of Monk Parfeny’s “Narrative of Travels.” gives us the opportunity to a have a new look at the essence of their debates regarding the future development of Russia and Russian literature (religious and national-historical aspects).

Résumé :
The article is focused on the content and aesthetic potential of Belorussian literature, which still remains not widely known not for a foreign (including Russian) only, but native reader as well. It is shown that during its development from progressive beginning at the turn of XIX-XX centuries (Y. Kupala, Y. Kolos, M. Bogdanovich, etc.) to the postSoviet period (late “Sixtiers” 1960s, V. Bykov, A. Adamovich, S. Alexievich, V. Neklyaev and their young followers O. Bakharevich, Z. Vishnev, V. Martinovich), problematic array still focused on “marginal” point of view is showing stability. Interest in the problem is related to following historical, sociocultural factors that predetermined the peculiarity of the Belarusian cultural space as unstable national self-identity, geopolitical location at the multicultural cross-road of two major cultural influences of Europe and Russia. By the example of two texts: “Antinovel” by Zmitr Vishnev “If you look closely – Mars is blue” and “Dogs of Europe” by Olgerd Bakharevich (the second one was translated to Russian and granted the “Grand book" award, the reactualization of the “marginal” worldview in the modern Belarusian literature was presented, which actuality for Russian literature from Dostoyevsky to “other prose” late XX, comprehends the image of Russian-Belorussian literature references, caused by “existential type of artistic consciousness” common to a number of authors (V. Zamanskaya).
