Résumé :
The aim of the study was to identify and compare the content of chlorophyll and carotene pigments in mountain melick plants (Melica nutans L.) growing in two forest habitats in the Zielonka Forest Landscape Park in the Greater Poland region, which differed in soil properties and moisture. Leaf blades from the middle level of Melica nutans generative shoots were used as analytical material to measure the content of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, β-carotene and total carotenoids. The average (±SD) content of chlorophyll a in the Melica nutans plants growing in the less fertile site (Location I) amounted to 6.67 ± 0.99 mg·g−1 DM. The average content of chlorophyll b in the same plants was 2.44 ± 0.39 mg·g−1 DM. The Melica nutans plants growing in the more fertile site (Location II) had a higher content of chlorophyll a, i.e., 7.76 ± 0.96 mg·g−1 DM, and lower content of chlorophyll b, i.e., 2.36 ± 0.26 mg·g−1 DM. The plants collected from both sites had similar content of β-carotene, i.e., 0.61 ± 0.11 mg·g−1 DM Location I and 0.62 ± 0.07 mg·g−1 DM Location II. The plants growing in the less fertile site (Location I) had significantly higher total carotene content than the plants in the more fertile site (Location II). The content of pigments in the Melica nutans plants was significantly differentiated by the meteorological conditions in the subsequent years of the research. In the first year of the research, the average content of all chlorophyll pigments in the plants was significantly higher than in the second drier year, regardless of the site.

Résumé :
This study investigates the development of early Persian vocabulary in the process of first language acquisition in case of an Iranian child at age 2. The child was named Melica in this paper and her speech was observed for the period of 6 months. The outcomes show that Melica could produce about 150 words and understand many more when she was 2 years old. Also she understood such meanings as “on”, “under”, and “in”. At that age, she mostly produced nouns, which represented more than half of her vocabulary. Observed for a period of six months, Melica showed a gradual development in word as well as in sentence production, though some discrepancies in the use of certain words, such as developmental errors and overextensions, were also reported.

Résumé :
Effect of seed age and fertilisation on the growth and decorative quality of selected ornamental grassesOrnamental grasses have become a popular group of plants for use in landscaping. The aim of the present experiment was to assess the influence of seed age on the germination of ornamental grasses. In the glasshouse experiment, seeds of three grass genera,Melica, PennisetumandStipa, were tested. The seeds came from the Plant Breeding and Acclimatisation Institute in Bydgoszcz. They were harvested in 2005, 2006 and 2007 (so they were three years old, two years old, and one year old, respectively). In all the genera, the youngest seeds showed the highest germination, which varied between 61% (Melica transsilvanica) and 74% (Melica ciliatassp.taurica). The germination process of the oldest seeds (three years old) proceeded at various rates, depending on the species, but the highest ability to germinate was observed inPennisetum flaccidum(39%) andStipa tenuissima(42%). After germination,Melicasp. andStipasp. plants were repotted and treated with Hydrocote (a slow-release fertiliser). The results obtained indicated that the fertilisation of the grasses significantly increased the height of the plants. Plants ofMelica altissima‘Atropurpurea’ also formed three times more inflorescences than the control plants. The application of the fertiliser had a positive effect on leaf colour (a more intense green) in all of the tested genera.

Résumé :
AbstractThis paper presents information about ten new alien plant species recorded in Lithuania in the period from 1995 to 2014. These species belong to eight families: Cucurbitaceae (Lagenaria siceraria), Juncaceae (Luzula sylvestris), Lamiaceae (Physostegia virginiana, Sideritis montana), Poaceae (Melica altissima, Miscanthus sacchariflorus), Portulacaceae (Claytonia perfoliata), Scrophulariaceae (Digitalis purpurea), Solanaceae (Datura inoxia) and Zygophyllaceae (Tribulus terestris). Three species (Claytonia perfoliata, Sideritis montana and Tribulus terestris) were introduced accidentally, whereas other seven species were introduced deliberately and later escaped from cultivation. One species, Luzula sylvatica, is ascribed to the group of established aliens, whereas other recorded species are treated as casual. Local establishment of Claytonia perfoliata, Digitalis purpurea and Melica altissima is expected, whereas Miscanthus sacchariflorus can become established and even invasive in the future.

Résumé :
In the course of studying the content of free amino acids in dry and germinating grains of wild cereals, some biochemical features of their dynamics were revealed depending on the osmotic pressure. In most species, except Agropyron cristatum, a significant increase in the concentration of amino acids occurred in the control on the first day after the start of the experiment; in the subsequent period, their decrease was observed. For Agropyron cristatum, a decrease in the index and a smooth increase after the first day were observed. Under the influence of osmolyte, the tendency to mobilize amino acids has changed and in some species (Stipa krylovii, Melica virgata, Melica turczaninowiana) the maximum amounts were observed on the first day from the beginning of the experiment, in the others to the second day. The total amount of free amino acids in the control and in the test was not significantly different. There was also a rapid mobilization of proteinogenic amino acids with increasing osmotic stress for the widespread Stipa krylovii and Agropyron cristatum in the region. A similar trend was noted for the xerophyte Tripogon chinensis. For grasses with a narrow ecological niche, which are characterized by xeromesophilia, osmotic stress suppressed the rapid mobilization of free amino acids. The content of individual groups of amino acids under the influence of osmotic stress was characterized by significant differences for species of the Melica genus in the number of acidic amino acids, for Tripogon chinensis an increase in the content of basic amino acids, and for Agropyron cristatum by a decrease in their concentration.

Résumé :
Extensive green roofs (EGR) spaces constitute harsh and stressful growing environments, and consequently a limited range of plants species that can be routinely used there. The habitat template hypothesis suggests that EGR can be analogous as natural environments, what makes native plants as an alternative for these conditions. This paper aimed to assess the potential use of 15 native plants from Córdoba Province (Argentina) for green roofs, based on cover ability, survived rates and health status observations during a period of 414 days. Sedum acre L. was used as the control. Glandularia x hybrid, Phyla nodiflora (L.) Greene, Melica macra Nees, Eustachys retusa (Lag.) Kunth and Grindelia cabrerae Ariza kept up a 60% of coverage during all the period of study. The first two species had an outperformed green coverage (at 72th day; 95% and 98% respectively) in relation to the control species (Sedum acre; 87%). Eustachys retusa and Grindelia cabrerae grew progressively and kept their coverage constant proximally to 65%. Sedum acre, Grindelia cabrerae, Hysterionica jasionoides Willd, Melica macra, Phyla nodiflora, stood out in plant survival rates; but S. acre suffered changes in health status throughout the evaluation period, especially with low temperatures or at high humidity conditions. It is necessary to underline the reseeding potential of Eustachys retusa, a process that could guarantee perpetuation of the species on EGR.

Résumé :
The paper presents the results of a long-term study (2010–2019) of the ecological and bio¬logical characteristics of the collection of species of the Poaceae family, which at the end of 2019 included 32 species (45 samples) belonging to 16 genera. The genus Festuca L. is represented by the largest number of species – 10, the genus Bromopsis Four. contains 4 species, three genera – Elymus L., Phleum L. and Poa L. – two spe¬cies each. The remaining 12 genera are repre¬sented in the collection by only one species. Arrhenatherum L., Alopecurus L., Beckmannia Host., Briza L., Calamagrostis Adams., Dactylis L., Deschampsia Beaw, Hordeum L., Leymus L., Melica L., Miscanthus Anderss, Phaloroides Wolf. All species of the collection fund are di¬vided into three groups according to the rate of their development: 16 species are classified as early plants, their vegetation period is 60–75 days; medium-sized plant group (76 – 92 days) includes 9 species; late plant group (more than 95 days) – 7 species. Long-term research on a complex of economically significant features made it possible to identify promising cereal plants (12 species) that can be used as ornamen¬tal plants for landscaping in the northern re¬gion. It is shown that among the selected prom¬ising species there are representatives of all three groups of cereal plants, distinguished by the rate of development. Thus, the group of plants of early development includes 5 promis ing species: Festuca rubra, F. pratensis, Briza media, Deshampsia cespitosa, Melica nutans. Cereals belonging to the second group are Festuca ovina, F. pseudodalmatica, Elymus sibi-ricus, Dactylis glomerata, Bromopsis tyttholepis. The group of late-growth cereals includes Beck-mannia eruciformis and Phleum pratensis. Brief data are given for each promising species: morphological description, ecological relevance, geographical distribution, timing of phenological phases, reproductive ability, possibilities of decorative use.

Résumé :
Fragmented distribution, the breeding system and effects of genetic drift in small-size populations occurring at edge of the species range play an important role in shaping genetic diversity of such a species. Melica transsilvanica is a plant rare in the flora of Poland, where it reaches the northern limit of its continuous range. Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) DNA profiling method was applied to measure genetic diversity among and within populations of M. transsilvanica. Additionally, genetic relationships between M. transsilvanica and Melica ciliata, two closely related species, were explored. A total of 68 plants from 7 populations of M. transsilvanica and 24 plants from 2 populations of M. ciliata, collected in Poland and outside it, were analyzed. Using 294 AFLP fragments from 3 primer combinations, accessions were grouped into two major clusters associating with M. ciliata and M. transsilvanica, respectively. Further, two subclusters, corresponding to the samples collected from the Pieniny Mts and from the Kraków - Częstochowa Upland were clearly distinguished within the M. transsilvanica group. The hierarchical AMOVA exhibited significant genetic distinction between these geographic regions (60.89%, p < 0.001). The obtained results showed that the most genetic diversity resided between the populations of M. transsilvanica (86.03%) while considerably lower genetic variation was found within the populations (13.97%), which is consistent with the results reported for self-plants. The low level of AFLP genetic variation of M. transsilvanica can be caused by the geographic isolation of populations, which preserves the dominant self-mating breeding system of the species. Individual populations of M. transsilvanica are characterized by isolated gene pools differing by a small number of loci.

Résumé :
- Poetic images and Pragmatics Starting from Benveniste's analyses of historical enunciation, the nature of pronouns and the subjectivity of language, this essay focuses on that the kind of subjectivity implied in much Greek lyric poetry, especially in Pindar. By means of discursive tools, the narration builds an exclusively verbal image of the "I", which comes before any reference to elements external to the text. In this way, the "I" stands for an enunciative, pragmatic and polyphonic subject: it is, indeed, the actor (singer, tragic actor, choral group) of a ritualized situation. This performative identity is different from the author of the written text. In Greek poetry, the written text is above all a speech-act, mostly a song-act. This raises the problem of the difference - and of the relation - between the author's biographic subjectivity and the identity created by the linguistic devices in the text. Using different images: chariots, ceremonial processions, Calame's analysis focuses on the metaphorical identification between poetic song and journey.Key words: Enunciation, Image, Metaphor, Poetry, Pragmatics, Subjectivity.Parole chiave: Enunciazione, Immagine, Metafora, Poesia, Pragmatica, Soggettivitŕ. Résumé :
The article analyses the influence of black walnut on forest phytocoenosis in South Moravian forests and assesses how its representation may affect the understorey vegetation of the forest ecosystems. In July 2014, 31 relevés were processed in the South Moravian forests. These were stands of pure black walnut (Juglans nigra) as well as black walnut with small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata), along with neighbouring autochthonous stands (pure ash – European and narrow-leaved), oak (summer oak), or their mixtures. Ellenberg’s indicator values reveal differences in the plant communities under black walnut comparing those under native tree species for the variables nitrogen, soil reaction and temperature. In addition, total cover is significantly higher under walnut. Other differences are visible from the detrended correspondence analysis ordination. The study also confirmed that in the stands of black walnut the preference of some species is suppressed, for example Brachypodium sylvaticum and Poa nemoralis in alluvial forests and Melica uniflora in hilly forests.

Résumé :
Previous autoradiography studies illustrated that several areas of the avian brain can bind the pineal hormone melatonin. In birds, there are three melatonin receptor (MelR) subtypes: MelIa, MelIb and MelIc. To date, their brain distribution has not been studied in any passerine bird. Therefore, we investigated mRNA distribution of MelR subtypes in adjacent sections of the brain of two songbirds, the blackcap and the zebra finch, in parallel with that of 2-[125I]-iodomelatonin (IMEL) binding sites in the same brains. The general pattern of receptor expression shown by in situ hybridization of species-specific probes matched well with that of IMEL binding. However, the expression of the three subtypes was area specific with similar patterns in the two species. Some brain areas expressed only one receptor subtype, most brain regions co-expressed either MelIa with MelIb or MelIa with MelIc, whereas few areas expressed MelIb and MelIc or all three receptor subtypes. Since many sensory areas, most thalamic areas and subareas of the neopallium, a cortex analogue, express MelR, it is likely that most sensory motor integration functions are melatonin sensitive. Further, the area-specific expression patterns suggest that the regulatory role of melatonin differs among different brain areas. Since subareas of well-defined neural circuits, such as the visual system or the song control system, are equipped with different receptor types, we hypothesize a diversity of functions for melatonin in the control of sensory integration and behavior.

Résumé :
The paper studies mechanisms of adaptation of the rare species Melica virgata Turcz. ex Trin for Eastern Transbaikalia to drought at the initial stages of ontogenesis. The species is listed in the Red Data Book of Trans-Baikal Territory and has the first conservation status category (Endangered). M. virgata occurs in special phytocenoses on the territory of Eastern Transbaikalia, being in such microclimatic conditions that correspond to its xeromesophytic nature. This cereal is characterized by seed reproduction. Researches of seed germination in conditions of physiological drought, caused by the presence of osmotic, have shown the ability of M. virgata seeds to germinate in a wide range of moisture availability, but growth processes with an increase in osmotic pressure are strongly suppressed. The ability to germinate in conditions of physiological drought may be associated with the exchange of free amino acids. The seeds of cereals were dominated by acidic amino acids and their amides, which are substrates for the formation of other amino acids, nucleotides, as well as after deamination reactions, carbohydrates and lipid components. The intensity of accumulation of free amino acids in water deficit can vary due to the use of these amino acids for the synthesis of substances with osmoregulatory properties. The rapid transition to growth processes in this cereal may be associated with the mobilization of prolamins and glutelins on the first day of germination.

Résumé :
Little research has been conducted into the growth and nutrient uptake potential of native grasses for use in vegetated buffers, grassed waterways, and cover crops for the mitigation of agricultural and horticultural runoff. A greenhouse experiment was conducted with three U.S. native grasses: Leymus triticoides, Melica imperfecta, Vulpia microstachys, and turf-type tall fescue, Lolium arundinaceum. Treatments were the rate of nitrogen application, with 0, 460, 920, or 1380 kg·ha−1 applied per twelve-week experimental period. Shoot and root material was collected, dried, and analyzed for N and P. Grass quality measurements included visual shoot density and visual root density. Species differences were found for the uptake of water, nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P), as well as for plant quality measurements such as shoot and root density. Across species, as N application rate increased, apparent N recovery decreased, suggesting that these grasses will exhibit a decreased efficiency in scavenging N when N concentrations in applied runoff are higher. Among native grasses, L. triticoides exhibited some advantages over the others which may make it valuable in remediation applications, including high shoot and root density, rapid vertical growth, and high water, N, and P uptake.

Résumé :
This study analyses the effects of expressways on physiology and risk elements content in plants (Quercus cerris L., Prunus spinosa L., Melica uniflora Retz.) and soils. Study forest stands are located at a distance of 30 m to 8100 m from the expressway ‘R1 Nitra – Tekovské Nemce’ (southwest Slovakia). The effect of distance from the road on the content of cadmium (Cd) in soils indicated an increase of the element in mineral layers in the 30 m variant; excessive Cd values were recorded in O-horizons and in the background zone. Also copper (Cu) showed a marked enrichment of surface horizons caused by car traffic. The results of redundancy discriminant analysis showed that the most important environmental variables related to physiological parameters of plants were the content of Cd and Cu in plants (P < 0.05) and the content of Cu in soils (P < 0.05). However, M. uniflora species responded most sensitively to a decrease of average chlorophyl content as a consequence of excessive accumulation of Cd in leaf tissues. The obtained results indicate risk of exposure to risk elements in soils and plants of forest stands under conditions of polluted air, but also under specific environmental conditions.
