O presente trabalho tem como objetivo realizar um estudo acerca do panorama religioso vivenciado pela Galiza durante os séculos V e VI, cuja preocupação central encontra-se na análise das principais formas de religiosidade pré-cristãs praticadas no período, bem como sua importância para a manutenção da ordem cotidiana vivenciada pelos galegos. Para realizarmos tal intento utilizaremos como fonte principal o sermão De correctione rusticorum, escrito por Martinho, bispo de Braga, que elucida as preocupações gerais do clero da Alta Idade Média relativas ao processo de formação e consolidação do cristianismo em um período no qual a antiga religiosidade ainda se mantinha muito viva, ameaçando o projeto hegemônico da Igreja Católica. Para além de nossos objetivos principais, propomos ainda a análise do contexto ao qual nos debruçamos, envolvendo questões que abarcam a criação de mecanismos pela Igreja para ser melhor aceita entre os praticantes destas formas de religiosidade, e as relações estabelecidas entre esta instituição eclesiástica com a Monarquia sueva.
The present work aims to conduct a study about the religious landscape experienced by Galicia during the fifth and sixty centuries, which main concern is the analysis of the main forms of pre-Christian religiosity practiced in the period, as well as its importance for the maintenance of quotidian order experienced by the Galicians. To accomplish this propose we will use as the main source the sermon De correctione rusticorum, written by Martin, bishop of Braga, which elucidates the general concerns of the clergy in the Early Middle Ages on the process of formation and Christianity consolidation in a context in which the ancient religiosity were still very much alive, threatening the hegemonic project of the Catholic Church. In addition to our main objectives, we propose the analysis of the context to which we worked, involving issues that relate to the establishment of mechanisms by the Church to be better accepted among the practitioners of the religiosity, and the relations between this ecclesiastical institution with the Suebian Monarchy.

Résumé :
The first part of the thesis called Dance in the Work of Bohuslav Martinů focuses on fourteen Martinů´s ballets that have been staged so far. The following part is devoted to dance adaptations of Martinů´s concert opuses. The final part of the thesis deals with three Martinů´s operas which include dance scenes: The Soldier and the Dancer, The Plays of Mary and The Suburban Theatre. The appendices comprise librettos of selected works and musical scores with stage directions written by the composer; the enclosed CD contains archive photographs of stage designs and photographs from performances.

Résumé :
The title of my diploma thesis is Bassoon in chamber music of Bohuslav Martinů. The thesis is mapping Bohuslav Martinů's chamber work for the bassoon, namely the circumstances of the creation of compositions, premieres or recordings. Another point of study is the selection of several interpretatively interesting parts of bassoon excerpts and their assessment from an interpreter point of view. In the first chapter I deal with the personality of Bohuslav Martinů in particular periods of his life with references to the most important compositions and professional influences. In the next chapter there is a catalog of chamber works for the bassoon of Bohuslav Martinů with informations on the origin and premieres of the compositions. There are also sheet music examples of interesting parts in the excerpts of the bassoon and their interpretative specifics.

The thesis is focused on the chamber music pieces with flute composed by Bohuslav Martinů. One of the sub-chapters is dedicated to Concert for Flute, Violin and Orchestra, but only because of its close connection to chamber pieces for these instruments. The chapter about the life of Bohuslav Martinů is brief and is focused only on the most important facts from this area. In the second chapter there are sonatas, trios, sextets, nonets, etc. and all those pieces have their own historical ? esthetic commentary, basic info about their origination, manuscripts, issues etc. For chosen pieces (Sonata for Flute, Violin and Piano, Sonata for Flute and Piano, Promenades, Sextet) there is dedicated detailed analysis, especially formal and harmonious analysis. The interpretative problems are also one of the goals I tried to achieve altogether with my points of view of these musical pieces and their interpretation

Résumé :
This master´s thesis is focused on the chamber works by Bohuslav Martinů in which the oboe takes a part in an ensemble. After introduction containing composer´s biography there are chapters dedicated to the specified works with their historical context and compositional techniques. The biggest part of this thesis is about the composition Fanthasy for Theremin, Oboe, String Quartet and Piano H301 and showing history of the first contactless electronic musical instrument theremin as well as information about its inventor Lev Sergejevich Theremin. There is also a comparition between playing this Fantasy with either theremin or Martenot waves because of the similarity of these instruments. Main purpose and motivation to focus this thesis on this composition was personal experience which included playing and recording this piece with german thereminist Carolina Eyck.

The thesis analyzes W. J. Gordon Martin's exclusion from the practice of law by the Benchers of the Law Society of British Columbia in 1948, and the protest raised in response to this action. A conservative legal elite, closely aligned with the provincial state, rejected Martin as unfit due to his Marxian-socialist beliefs and his association with the Communist Labor-Progressive Party. Cold War fears and hostility and a larger conservative campaign against socialism and labour radicalism fuelled the Benchers' actions. Left-wing political and labour groups, students, journalists and civil libertarians protested the Benchers' decision, their conservative elitism, and the legislated discretionary powers which allowed a technically qualified candidate to be rejected for political/ideological reasons. This case occurred during the formative period of the Canadian civil liberties movement, and the protest reflected increased public concern for the fundamental freedoms of the individual. The protest composition, organization, focus, and ultimately its demise, demonstrated the juvenile status of the civil liberties movement. The legal establishment granted Martin "due process," his day in a court where he had no chance of a victory. Civil libertarians chose to grant the procedure and its outcome as conclusive in a period when few safeguards for freedoms existed outside of public vigilance and protest. In the Martin case, the process undermined the principles of civil liberties.

Les expéditions et projets pontificaux face à l’avancée ottomane au XVe siècle sont loins d'être une répétition à l'identique des croisades antérieures. Elles révèlent au contaire une prise en compte attentive de la situation militaire, économique et politique des États d'Orient comme d'Occident. Les papes repensèrent les tactiques, stratégies et objectifs de la guerre et redéfinirent le rôle de tous les acteurs de la croisade : eux-mêmes prirent une part active dans l'organisation et la menée des armées ; les princes furent incités à se conforter aux plans établis depuis Rome ; la participation du peuple fut progressivement réduite à un rôle financier. Cette nouvelle façon de conduire la guerre visait à mieux résister à un ennemi considéré comme redoutable, mais aussi à renforcer le pouvoir pontifical en réaffirmant le rôle des papes dans la défense de la foi. La papauté devait se donner les moyens de mettre en œuvre ces projets. Elle ne disposait pas des fonds nécessaires au financement de ces entreprises : elle sut diversifier les méthodes pour en collecter à travers toute l'Europe. Elle n'était pas habituée à prendre en main elle-même les aspects concrets de la croisade : elle entreprit de se doter pour cela d'une administration spécialisée. Surtout, ces innovations et l'affirmation de l'absolutisme pontifical qu'elles impliquaient suscitèrent des critiques et oppositions nombreuses. Les papes tentèrent de les légitimer en diffusant un discours conservateur destiné à minimiser les nouveautés et à magnifier les similitudes entre leur combat et les croisades des siècles passés
The pope's expeditions and projects against the Ottoman invasion in the fifteenth century were far from a simple duplicate of former crusades. They reveal a great attention given to both Eastern and Western military, political, and economic situations. Popes reinvented the war's tactics, strategies and objectives and gave a new role to the traditional actors of the crusade: popes handled themselves the waging and guiding of armies; lay rulers were invited to obey papal plans; the people's role was gradually limited to a financial participation. This new way of waging war was intended to be more efficient against an enemy considered as dreadful, but it also aimed at reinforcing papal power by showing the pope's role in defending Christian faith. The popes had to find out the means of concretizing their projects. They didn't have the funds to finance such enterprises: they managed to diversify their incomes and collect them throughout Europe. As they weren't used to manage direct control over the crusades: they tried to constitute a specific administration in order to do so. Most of all, these innovations and the related assertion of papal absolutism provoked numerous critics and oppositions. Popes tried to legitimize their activities by diffusing a conservative discourse, aimed at magnifying similarities between their fight and the crusades of the past centuries

The resource allocation and utilization discourse is dominated by debates about rights particularly individual property rights and ownership. This is due largely to the philosophic foundations provided by Hobbes and Locke and adopted by Bentham. In our community, though, resources come not merely with rights embedded but also obligations. The relevant laws and equitable principles which give shape to our shared rights and obligations with respect to resources take cognizance not merely of the title to the resource (the proprietary right) but the particular context in which the right is exercised. Moral philosophy regarding resource utilisation has from ancient times taken cognizance of obligations but with ascendance of modernity, the agenda of moral philosophy regarding resources, has been dominated, at least since John Locke, by a preoccupation with property rights; the ethical obligations associated with resource management have been largely ignored. The particular social context has also been ignored. Exploring this applied ethical terrain regarding resource utilisation, this thesis: (1) Revisits the justifications for modem property rights (and in that the exclusion of obligations); (2) Identifies major deficiencies in these justifications and reasons for this; (3) Traces the concept of stewardship as understood in classical Greek writing and in the New Testament, and considers its application in the Patristic period and by Medieval and reformist writers, before turning to investigate its influence on legal and equitable concepts through to the current day; 4) Discusses the nature of the stewardship obligation,maps it and offers a schematic for applying the Stewardship Paradigm to problems arising in daily life; and, (5) Discusses the way in which the Stewardship Paradigm may be applied by, and assists in resolving issues arising from within four dominant philosophic world views: (a) Rawls' social contract theory; (b) Utilitarianism as discussed by Peter Singer; (c) Christianity with particular focus on the theology of Douglas Hall; (d) Feminism particularly as expressed in the ethics of care of Carol Gilligan; and, offers some more general comments about stewardship in the context of an ethically plural community.

Le nombre d’études consacrées au problème de l’espace, y compris dans la littérature, est en nette progression depuis plusieurs décennies et surtout ces dernières années. Certains parlent d’un « tournant spatial » de l’ensemble des disciplines humanistes. Malgré cet intérêt accru, l’équivocité traditionnellement attachée à la notion d’espace demeure. Si le langage courant réserve le terme aux faits géographiques, urbains ou encore astronomiques, on a souvent mis en évidence le fait qu’il désigne à la fois un « contenu » et une « forme » (E. Husserl), une réalité en même temps « obscure » et « objective » (A. Einstein). Cette thèse tient compte de la complexité de la notion d’espace et la met à profit pour analyser ce qu’il convient d’appeler la spatialité dans la littérature. Elle porte sur un corpus diversifié qui comprend des œuvres narratives écrites par Jean Echenoz, François Bon, Radoslav Petković, David Albahari, V.S. Naipaul et Martin Amis. Telle qu’elle est étudiée ici, la spatialité pose un large ensemble de questions « formelles » et « thématiques » : la scénographie urbaine et non urbaine, la « polarisation » de l’espace (centre/périphérie, local/global, familier/étranger), l’écriture de la frontière, la toponymie, la topographie, le « balisage » de l’espace (à l’aide de pronoms, verbes et adverbes), l’espace-image et le sens autoréflexif de l’espace. À chacun de ses différents niveaux, elle se révèle profondément dynamique, composée d’éléments en interaction et en opposition, autrement dit « en mouvement »
In various fields, including literature, much work has been done on the question of space over the last few years and decades. Some refer to a “spatial turn” in humanities and social sciences. However, in spite of a considerable general interest in this topic, the notion of space remains equivocal. The term is commonly used to denote basic facts in geography, urbanism and astronomy, but the concept is also often said to be rather complex. Husserl claimed that space was both a “content” and a “form”, while Einstein believed that its genuine nature was at the same time “obscure” and “undeniably objective”. In this thesis, we take into account the complexity of the space itself and challenge the notion of spatiality in literature. The corpus consists of novels and narratives written by V.S. Naipaul, Martin Amis, Jean Echenoz, François Bon, Radoslav Petković and David Albahari. Spatiality, such as defined here, brings us to examine both content- and form-related issues, including urban and non-urban space, spatial “polarization” (“centers” and “peripheries”, “local” and “global”, “known” and “unknown” places), border, toponymy and topography. The use of some terms specifying spatial location (such as deictics) is also analyzed, as well as the iconographic representations of space referred to in the texts and, finally, different forms of self-reflexive discourse inherent in the writing of space. The analysis reveals that every level of spatiality has an essentially dynamic, non-static quality, as the elements that it is composed of are in constant opposition and interaction

Si disegna il quadro di una società nella quale lo spettacolo era uno dei linguaggi, e non certo in posizione minoritaria, che le élites dirigenti avevano studiato ed istituito per affermare, a livello familiare e consortile, la loro preminenza e la loro egemonia nell'ancor fluida situazione politica della Firenze pre-medicea.

On Speech in the Poetry of Karel Šiktanc The diploma thesis focuses on the poetry of Karel Šiktanc from the 1970 s to the present. It aims to identify and describe those invariables that could characterize his poetic work. In order to accomplish that, two main theoretical sources are used. First, Martin Heidegger's essay Básnicky bydlí člověk, and second, a cognitive ethnolinguistics approach. The overall goal of the thesis is to demonstrate how language (or, more precisely speech) might be conceptualized (cf. the metaphor of speech as space) and what function does speech have in the magical thinking. Using Eugène Minkowski's term zvučení, a noticeable contrast between the sound of speech and silence in Šiktanc's imagery is commented on. Due to the vastness of data, the analysis concentrates on selected poems that are somehow emblematic of each collection.

Die vorliegende Arbeit wurde einem bis dahin unerforschten Thema gewidmet, nämlich dem Komponisten Bohuslav Martinů und seiner Rolle im Musikleben des deutschsprachigen Raumes in den Jahren 1923-1939. Bohuslav Martinů, der seit 1923 in Paris lebte, richtete sein hauptsächliches Interesse dem Pariser Musikgeschehen und blieb mit dem Musikleben der ersten Tschechoslowakischen Republik in Verbindung. Dennoch wandte sich seine Aufmerksamkeit auch bald dem jungen Musikleben des deutschsprachigen Raums zu. Das Thema, das vom Interesse am Schaffen von Bohuslav Martinů geleitet ist, der zu Beginn der untersuchten Zeitspanne noch unbekannt war, jedoch rasch zu einem wichtigen Vertreter der Komponistengeneration der Zwischenkriegszeit avancierte, steht in mehreren Wechselwirkungen. Ausgehend von Recherchen zeitgenössischer Dokumente - Korrespondenz, Martinůs Notizen und Publizistik - wurden Studien zum Musikleben, zur Biographik und Rezeption durchgeführt. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit wurden Martinůs Werke und ihre Aufführungen im deutschsprachigen Raum sowie die Initiatoren, Veranstalter und Interpreten behandelt. The first opera by Bohuslav Martinů (from the total of 16) named Voják a tanečnice (The Soldier and the Dancer), H. 162 was created in the initial years of Martinů's stay in Paris (1926-1927), when the effort to reflect different contemporary music trends and influences can be traced in his compositions. Voják a tanečnice is an original example of absorbing such influences on the background of the three-act comic opera. Together with the librettist, Jan Löwenbach, they tried to create a "new opera buffa", which was however not understood by the contemporary reviewers. The opera was first performed in Brno in 1928. The frequency of the first performances of Martinů's stage works in the National Theatre in Brno indicates that the first performance of his first opera was not a coincidence but a part of targeted dramaturgy at the Brno stage. The opera follows both the tradition of an opera and tendencies in art of the 1920's, e. g. playing with humour in music, the epic theatre inspirations or using ancient theme.
