Résumé :
During Fall 2016 we had the unique opportunity to participate in the regular internship program of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and assist with ongoing exhibition projects in the Architecture and Design Department (A&D). This Department was established in 1932 as the first curatorial department dedicated to architecture and design and built on an ambitious collection covering major figures and movement of architectural culture from mid-19th century to the present. With looking back on a rich history of influential exhibitions such as Modern Architecture: International Exhibition (1932), Architecture Without Architects (1964/65) or Deconstructivist Architecture (1988) it has been one of the key institutions to push the format of the architecture exhibition and which it keeps doing up to today. Having this in mind we both came to New York with great respect and honored to gain insights in this institution for a period of three months. The department currently employs around 15 people which made it a really pleasant, intimate place to work with highly passionate and professional individuals full of remarkable expertise and respect for each other. This said and with the department going through some recent (at that moment) personnel changes, most notably the new directorship of Martino Stierli since 2015, as well MoMA reconfiguring and adding gallery spaces set to be open in 2019, we felt it was a very interesting moment for us to talk to our curator colleagues about their personal history and professional ambitions as curators at MoMA as well specific challenges of exhibiting architecture and design. Being both educated in architecture in different countries (Brazil and Germany) we could gain not only a lot of professional insights but also talk about personal aspects of the curators´ – not always linear – careers. In total we conducted six interviews with all (senior) curators and one curatorial assistant of the Architecture and Design Department, all of whom we asked the same, around ten questions in order to produce a complete “panorama” of the departments staff at that very moment. In the following we would like to share with you the second half with Juliet Kinchin, Martino Stierli and Sean Anderson. The first three interviews with Paola Antonelli, Barry Bergdoll and Michelle Millar Fisher, were published on RISCO v.16 n.1 2018. From the interviews, Juliet Kinchin had an approach since a student into intellectual debates and design history rather than architectural history, while Martino as a professor, was also engaged doing exhibitions. Sean Anderson struggled being a professor and practicing architect, and curation for him “means also being able to condense ideas and questions”. Since they had different backgrounds before arrive at MoMA, the teaching position and a special love for research is a shared common background for them. Juliet Kinchin argues that the curator’s activity apart from the responsabilities also means communicate and creating view points and arguments in a spatial and material form, while Martino talk about the work of curating a show as very much about a teamwork. For Sean Anderson also the very strong critical sensibility, is a must have skill for a curator. Sean Anderson’s advice to young curators is to ask questions and to have as many experiences in the world as possible. Juliet Kinchin talks about integrity, that makes the difference in your work, Martino in the same way, reinforce the ideia to love what you do and so you will be successful. Résumé :
Immature equine oocytes may be held overnight in an Earle's/Hanks' M199-based medium in the absence of meiotic inhibitors (EH medium) to schedule the onset of in vitro maturation. Holding in EH has been shown not to affect meiotic or developmental competence of equine oocytes (Choi et al. 2006 Theriogenology 66, 955–963). However, no studies have been performed to identify the mode by which this medium suppresses meiosis. We hypothesised that holding temperature may affect oocyte meiotic arrest. The effect of 3 holding temperatures (25, 30, 38°C) on chromatin status was investigated after Hoechst 33258 staining (Hinrichs et al. 2005 Biol. Reprod. 72, 1142–1150). Oocytes were recovered by scraping of follicles from slaughterhouse-derived ovaries. Data were analysed by Chi-squared test and one-way ANOVA followed by Dunn's or Holm-Sidak Multiple Comparison methods. A level of P < 0.05 was considered significant. There were no significant differences in chromatin configuration between oocytes held overnight at 25°C (25°C-held) and controls (immediately-fixed oocytes); the proportion of oocytes showing meiotic resumption was 1/27, 4% and 0/26, 0%, respectively (not significant, NS). In contrast, holding at higher temperature significantly increased meiosis resumption (14/38, 37% and 14/28, 50%, at 30 and 38°C, respectively; P < 0.01) and reduced the proportion of oocytes showing the most meiotically-competent germinal-vesicle (GV) configuration (condensed chromatin, CC; 24 to 29% v. 65 to 70% for control and 25°C-held, respectively; P < 0.05). Based on these results, a subsequent experiment was performed in which oocyte meiotic stage and mitochondrial (mt) potential of 25°C-held (n = 29) and control (n = 36) oocytes was evaluated. Nuclear chromatin, mt activity (MitoTracker orange), intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels (2′,7′-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate, DCDHFDA), and mt/ROS colocalization (Pearson's coefficient) were analysed by epifluoscence and confocal microscopy (Martino et al. 2012 Fertil. Steril. 97, 720–728). Meiotic arrest after EH treatment at 25°C was confirmed (0/29, 0% v. 5/36, 14% for meiotic resumption in 25°C-held and controls, respectively; NS). At any GV stage, 25°C-held treatment had no effect on mt activity, ROS levels, or mt/ROS colocalization. For example, in CC oocytes, values for control and 25°C-held, respectively, were: MitoTracker, 547.8 ± 499.5 v. 722.9 ± 390.3; DCF fluorescence intensity, 278.5 ± 179.3 v. 378 ± 185, and mt/ROS colocalization, 0.5 ± 0.1 v. 0.5 ± 0.2; these were not significantly different (NS). In conclusion, EH holding at 25°C maintains meiotic arrest, viability, and mt potential of equine oocytes.

Résumé :
Postmodern image of Death in the novel Dřevĕná panenka by Martin KomárekThe presented analytic-interpretative study deals with the image of Death in the work of fiction Dřevěná panenka Wooden Doll, 1990 by Czech writer Martin Komárek. This book opens the series of four novels published during the last decade of the 20th century in which this author repeatedly returns to the theme of death and dying. This article focuses primarily on the theme of the fight with death and the possibilities of overcoming mortality. The essay pays special attention to the specific modality of Komárek’s work of fiction that is based on intertextual relations mostly on the level of motifs with Gothic novels. The study also registers the grotesque dimension in the personification of death in the form of a terrible doll-puppet, and attempts to interpret the theme of death in Komárek’s novel in the context of postmodern poetics. Postmodernistyczny obraz Śmierci w powieści Martina Komárka Dřevĕná panenkaPrezentowany analityczno-interpretacyjny artykuł dotyczy obrazu Śmierci w powieści Dřevěná panenka Drewniana lalka, 1990 czeskiego pisarza Martina Komárka. Książka ta otwiera serię czterech powieści wydanych w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu XX wieku, w których autor wielokrotnie powraca do tematu śmierci i umierania.

The present work aims to conduct a study about the religious landscape experienced by Galicia during the fifth and sixty centuries, which main concern is the analysis of the main forms of pre-Christian religiosity practiced in the period, as well as its importance for the maintenance of quotidian order experienced by the Galicians. To accomplish this propose we will use as the main source the sermon De correctione rusticorum, written by Martin, bishop of Braga, which elucidates the general concerns of the clergy in the Early Middle Ages on the process of formation and Christianity consolidation in a context in which the ancient religiosity were still very much alive, threatening the hegemonic project of the Catholic Church. In addition to our main objectives, we propose the analysis of the context to which we worked, involving issues that relate to the establishment of mechanisms by the Church to be better accepted among the practitioners of the religiosity, and the relations between this ecclesiastical institution with the Suebian Monarchy.

The title of my diploma thesis is Bassoon in chamber music of Bohuslav Martinů. The thesis is mapping Bohuslav Martinů's chamber work for the bassoon, namely the circumstances of the creation of compositions, premieres or recordings. Another point of study is the selection of several interpretatively interesting parts of bassoon excerpts and their assessment from an interpreter point of view. In the first chapter I deal with the personality of Bohuslav Martinů in particular periods of his life with references to the most important compositions and professional influences. In the next chapter there is a catalog of chamber works for the bassoon of Bohuslav Martinů with informations on the origin and premieres of the compositions. There are also sheet music examples of interesting parts in the excerpts of the bassoon and their interpretative specifics.

Résumé :
The thesis is focused on the chamber music pieces with flute composed by Bohuslav Martinů. One of the sub-chapters is dedicated to Concert for Flute, Violin and Orchestra, but only because of its close connection to chamber pieces for these instruments. The chapter about the life of Bohuslav Martinů is brief and is focused only on the most important facts from this area. In the second chapter there are sonatas, trios, sextets, nonets, etc. and all those pieces have their own historical ? esthetic commentary, basic info about their origination, manuscripts, issues etc. For chosen pieces (Sonata for Flute, Violin and Piano, Sonata for Flute and Piano, Promenades, Sextet) there is dedicated detailed analysis, especially formal and harmonious analysis. The interpretative problems are also one of the goals I tried to achieve altogether with my points of view of these musical pieces and their interpretation

The thesis deals with psychosomatical studies and mainly studies of the Acting with the Inner Partner discipline by Ivan Vyskočil. In connection with the theoretical dialogue principle in the work of Martin Buber and out of her own reflections of practical studies, the author tries to touch spiritual lapping such disciplines might offer. Through an essayistic form she is also looking around her own spiritual life path and is asking about how much does one's experiencing of the spiritual grow out of his own body awareness.

Résumé :
AbstractIron and steel arms appeared in China during the late Warring States while guards on Han dynasty jian (double-edged sword) mainly continued Warring States designs. Single-edged ring-pommel sword (huanshoudao) which appeared during the same period did not have a guard. During the Jin dynasty, a type of V-shape sword guard appeared, which continued into the Southern and Northern dynasties. In the Tang dynasty, on the one hand, arms design continued Northern Zhou and Sui trends; at the same time, it absorbed Turkic and Sassanid influences from the west, which gave rise to a unique Tang sword aesthetic. From then on, V-shape guards started to gain popularity in China. Developments of this style were to have a major influence on sword guard designs during the Song, as well as among the Mongols and Tibetans until it finally attained the familiar form of zoomorphic guard during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Résumé :
AbstractThe story of how the theological ethicist, Reinhold Niebuhr, dealt with race during the “white compromise” (from after Reconstruction to the Civil Rights Movement) gives us a good picture of what will work and not work in re-directing American Prosperity toward a sustainable future. In his early years, Niebuhr argued against the Ku Klux Klan in Detroit, and supported sharecropper cooperatives in Arkansas. He guided his later ethical analysis of national and international groups by what he called “Christian realism,” which assumed that groups had limited capacity for doing good. At the height of his national status, he wrote books as though American history was the same as white history. He suggested caution in applying the Brown v. Board of Education decision to white families and after the civil rights movement had disrupted the “white compromise,” Niebuhr moved somewhat closer to Martin Luther King Jr.’s view of the “beloved community.”

Résumé :
Today, global climate changes are taking place, leading to changes in the habitats of many species, including organisms of epidemiological importance. The transfer of such organisms will primarily involve the blood-sucking parasites of migratory birds. The sand martin (Riparia riparia Linnaeus, 1758) is one of many migratory birds nesting in the Saratov region. In order to understand how much the species is involved in the transmission of infection and the creation of a new focal point of infection, it is necessary to establish the taxonomic structure of the nidicol fauna.

The research has as object of study the learning of basic education teachers in order to identify the learning of basic education teachers in their professional performance that contribute to their teacher education. The survey was conducted through a questionnaire using the Lickert scale answered on the google forms platform. 370 teachers from all regions of Brazil participated in the research. The study references are based Zeichner (2008), Martins (2009, 2016). In the analysis of the answers, the highest index of the scale was considered for the indication of the percentages. None of the answers obtained a 100% indication of the highest index on the scale. The responses with the highest number of responses were grouped into the following categories: teachers learn in (i) collective teaching practice and management in the school space; (ii) in their own teaching practice; (iii) with the reflection of its practice; (iv) in courses, lectures and (v) by conducting individual studies. The responses with the lowest index refer to learning: in informal spaces, on the internet and with the parents of their students. The most valued responses refer to learning: sharing problems; of ideas and opinions about education; planning classes in collaboration with school teachers; teaching together with another teacher in the same class; insertion of new teaching methods and innovations; they participate in school coordination councils where new possibilities are discussed and in many situations they read, consult; they prepare and develop workshops at the school to support teachers at the school and other schools. Teachers emphasize as a strong possibility of reflection and investigation their practice in the act of teaching and learning by reviewing the experiences: contradictions between the ideas about teaching and how they are put into teaching practice; when the teacher describes his practice to other people. By examining his experiences in practice, observing the strengths and weaknesses, and in reflections on his own beliefs and conceptions about teaching, the teacher has the opportunity to change his practice. The conclusions indicate that the teacher's practice contributes to his education.

The Integrated Sustainable Urban Development strategy (English acronym ISUD, Spanish acronym EDUSI) is an urban planning tool that the municipalities with more than 20.000 inhabitants in Spain need to be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the 2014-2020 period. The city of Villena is located south- east Spain, inland the province of Alicante. The Villena municipality developed this tool in order to have a holistic and integrated vision of the situation of the city from the urban, social, economic and environmental points of view. As a part of the analysis performed to develop this strategy, a spatial analysis of the urban fabric of Villena was carried out. This study employed concepts from the typomorphological schools of Italy, England and France (Moudon, 1994) as well as from the research on relation between density and urban form (Churchman, 1999, Berghauser & Pont, 2009, Steadman, 2014). The data and cartography of the Spanish Cadaster, processed with SIG software, allowed the study. The spatial analysis included different variables of the built environment, including building height and age; plots size; open space ratios, Not-built plots; type of built-plots according to height and built surface; and compactness of the fabrics. The results of this analysis showed a relationship between the morphological variables and the problems identified in the citizen participation meetings carried out for the elaboration of the ISUD. The identified aspects of urban morphology obsolescence allowed proposing strategies of action to update the built environment to current demands.
