Résumé :
Draupadi, the co-wife of the Pandava brothers, is an important character in the epic. She is known to have been the quintessence of beauty and femininity. Her life has largely been a plausible canvass of determination and a majestic display of integrity. She is often regarded as the first feminist voice who had raised concerns about women’s rights, wife’s rights and husband’s authority over the wife. Yet, there has been an enigmatic aspect to her character. The more one delves deeper into her character, the more one is confounded with Draupadi’s heroism. Her strength of character and unyielding will makes her a hero, more heroic and greater than the others. And hence, the paper tries to explore the heroic nature of Draupadi’s character- to unravel the ‘he’ in ‘her’.

Résumé :
- Approach, by Jacqueline Gotthold The author compares the couple's journey to the incredible and changing currents of a river. First it is rough, then it is slow and majestic; its flow shows the phases of expression, narration, articulation and change of the couple in therapy. Given that all relations are supposedly co-created, dyadic, dynamic, bi -directional and self and interactively regulated, Gotthold maintains that in the couple's treatment it is necessary to understand the miscues that have surfaced during the emergent process of the dyadic system of the co-creation. If all goes well, the couple will be able to understand and to change the dyadic regulatory processes in order to proceed in a "healthy" and co-agreed manner. To maintain her theory the author refers to the contributions of Bebee and Lachman's Infant Research with specific references to the concepts of coordination, equilibrium, and mutual influence systems, on the Study of the Boston Group on transformation and on the notion of implicit relational knowing. Through a clinical example, Gotthold shows how it is possible in couple's therapy, to transform a system from a bi-directional to a tri-directional one. Understanding the bi-directional and self and interactively regulated dimensions of the relationship we are investigating, aids the implicit and explicit and procedural interpretations that are necessary to change the system.

Résumé :
This article seeks to examine the theology of tolerance as the basis for interreligious and harmonious co-existence between Muslims and Hindus in Lombok. Lombok is known as the island of thousand mosques where majestic mosques scatter throughout the island. But Lombok is also a home for Hindus. The interactions between them have been very dynamics, creating integration, acculturation, adaptation, accommodation while sometimes also triggering tension. This article argues that theology occupies important aspects in both Hindu and Muslim daily live and thus can be employed as the solid basis of interreligious relations between them. From the Islamic perspective, there are a number of Qur’anic verse injuctions for tolerance. Hindus are also required to maintain tolerant attitude towards other religions as this is commanded in the Veda. These theological grounds will strengthen from the faith point of view Hindu-Muslim social cohesion, which has so far been realized though various means, such as music, arts and religious festivals. Goridko, Julia. « “To Express the Inexpressible, as Great as Eternity, in Words...”. The Problem of Poetic and Human Vocation in Hermann Broch’s Novel The Death of Virgil ». NaUKMA Research Papers. Literary Studies 3 (2 septembre 2022) : 75–81. http://dx.doi.org/10.18523/2618-0537.2022.3.75-81.

Résumé :
The article deals with the eternal problem of the creator and his creation, raised by the Austrian writer of the first half of the twentieth century, Hermann Broch, in his majestic novel “The Death of Virgil”. Broch gives his own interpretation of the intention of the ancient poet at the end of his life to destroy his most perfect work, one of the glorious examples of ancient Roman literature – “The Aeneid”, thus comprehending his work (as well as Broch his own) as a desire to know the truth. The Austrian writer, based on his own theory of values, insists on the Christian component of Virgil’s difficult decision, arguing that the poet’s real duty is not to serve beauty, but to “wake up and come to the rescue.” In the simultaneous co-presence of antiquity, the Middle Ages, and modernity in the work, new meanings are born related to the problem of poetic and human vocation. The article focuses on Broch’s creation of his own Orphic (Virgil’s) myth, where Virgil came to God the Savior through the desire for knowledge, the process of the dying out of old priorities and the birth of new ones in the vast depths of the soul of the ancient poet, painfully freed from Orphism and joining the most important values: love for humanity, service, humility, self-denial, and mercy.

[方博], Fang Bo. « The Transtextual Gender Construction in the Opera Madame White Snake ». ASIAN-EUROPEAN MUSIC RESEARCH JOURNAL 7 (21 juin 2021) : 1–18. http://dx.doi.org/10.30819/aemr.7-1.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
The opera Madame White Snake (hereafter Madame), co-commissioned by Opera Boston and Beijing Music Festival, premiered at Boston Cutler Majestic Theater in February 2010. It was the first commissioned opera by Opera Boston.1 Based on the story from the famous Chinese ancient myth Bai She Zhuan 2 (in Chinese: 白蛇传), this opera’s libretto was created by a Singaporean American librettist, who has shed the story’s “traditional skin and taking on modern trappings” (Smith, 2019: 27) on purpose. When sniffing at male librettists’ discourses about female characters’ vulnerable and tragic lives in their operas, opera Madame’s initiator and librettist Cerise Lim Jacobs argues that women should seize the initiative to make their own decisions in life. The white snake, in her mind, ought to be a whole woman who is powerful and demonic, and yet, is also nurturing and caring, is capable of deep and intense love. In the first section of this article, I introduce the original legend’s background and the story outline in its operatic adaptation; I also trace back the opera’s commissioning process. After providing the background information of the story and the operatic version, then, in the second section I analyze the opera in terms of its transtextual figural gender construction in her characterization through comparative studies of the white and green snakes’ images from the sources of literary works, traditional xiqu scripts and operatic librettos. Referring to Lim’s personal growth and migrating history, as well as she and her husband co-founded charitable foundation’s missions and its recent IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) opera grant program partnering with Opera America, I aim to examine her gender construction of the “female” roles in the opera from the perspectives of feminism, interracial marriage; and heterosexual, transsexual, and homosexual relationships.

Résumé :
Treegazing was a public walking event held in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne as part of Melbourne Design Week 2020 inviting the public to lift their gaze, be mindful whilst acknowledging the garden’s aesthetic design and history. This walk created a temporary community of strangers who co-experienced the majestic arboreal canopies of trees and plants, reducing ‘plant blindness’ (Schussler & Wandersee, 1998). Acknowledging the importance of ‘what stories are told’ and ‘making-kin’ (Haraway, 2016), this article explores collaborative visions between yoga and meditation practitioner Amanda Hawkey and artist Heather Hesterman. Investigating the dualities of silence/sound, open/enclosed, empty/busy and built/green spaces as a series of experiences. The act of mindful walking aims to connect the body to green spaces; to provide an embodied experience of nature. How might fundamental practices, as humans walking individually and together in public space be potential acts of transformation, of mindfulness, and environmental awareness - even subtle activism? We argue that encouraging an engagement with nature via haptic and ocular modes of art practice and meditation may facilitate a deeper engagement with and/or increased appreciation for flora. Treegazing implicates the walkers to become part of a connective- fluidity that enacts the space not within as participants, witness nor viewers but offers a shared collective experience of both mobility and stillness with the landscape, a subtle activism that looks up and treads lightly to ‘conspire – with nature.’

Résumé :
Oak, Who Are You...? Trees in Public Art Projects: From Regime, Through Domestication to Wildness How have artists working in the public space approached trees in recent decades? What have the artworks utilizing these majestic plant organisms told us about our relationship with nature? In reference to the questions listed above, in this article we want to take a fresh and critical look at the presence of trees (as art objects) in public spaces of contemporary cities. Our starting point is a critique of Joseph Beuys’ work 7000 Oaks, realized between 1982 and 1987 in the German city of Kassel. We argue that Beuys’ work diverged from his own concept of art as Social Sculpture; and the realization of this concept is only possible today when we have adopted different starting positions in our relationship with trees (as organisms) and urban nature as a whole. Considering the changes that have occurred in the discourse surrounding the role of public art in environmental debates, we also want to draw attention to the emergence of new models of artist (human)/plant relationships. Such models can be found in contemporary references to Beuys’ Kassel project, which were developed based on slightly different premises than those guiding the original work and its direct continuations. Complementing our reflections, we refer to local artistic projects realized in Warsaw, in which trees played important roles. We mention the publication Atlas of All Inhabitants co-created by Fundacja Puszka and the human/non-human inhabitants of Warsaw (2022), as well as an inter-species exhibition presented within the framework of the Bio/Diverse Summer program at the square of the Nowy Theatre (Fundacja Puszka, 2023).

Light activated resin-based composites are the most accepted and used materials among clinicians. The aim of this study is to determine the amount of residual monomer released from nanofiller composite resins for different polymerization times and storage periods in vitro. To this purpose, Tetric Ceram (Ivoclar, Liechtenstein), Clearfil Majesty Posterior (Kuraray, Japan), Grandio (VOCO, Germany), and Filtek Ultimate Universal (3M, USA) were used as nanofiller resin composites samples. Four groups ( n = 40 , diameter: 5 mm, thickness: 2 mm) of each material were fabricated, and each group was exposed to three different polymerization time (10, 20 and 40 sec). High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to measure the amount of monomers released over 1, 15, and 30 days. The highest amount of monomer release was seen in Tetric EvoCream composite, while the least monomer release was seen in Clearfil Majesty composite. Regardless of the polymerization time, material, or storage period, the highest amount of eluted monomer was Bis-GMA. It is observed that there is no statistically significant difference between various polymerization times. Monomer release reached its highest level on the 15th day and decreased on the 30th day for all composites. Polymerization time did not affect the monomer release from the composites, but the type of the monomers and concentration of the filler used in the composites affected the amount of released monomers. The use of TEGDMA (co)monomer reduced the monomer release.

Résumé :
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Using blends of natural gas (NG) and hydrogen as an alternative to gasoline in Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) has the potential of a major reduction in CO2 and other harmful emissions, besides giving insight into the use of gaseous biofuels, rich in methane and hydrogen, and offering a transition scenario towards a hydrogen economy. To investigate the consequences of using blends, the performance of a 240cc stationary ICE and a Yamaha Majesty YP125FI scooter, converted to run on a large variety of blends of hydrogen and NG, have been investigated at HAN University, Netherlands. The effect of the air-to-fuel ratio and the composition of the blend on the performance and the emissions have been studied. This paper gives insight into those effects. Main conclusions: With only minor modifications a large variety of blends can be used. By adding H2 to NG: CO2, CO, and HC emissions are reduced; NOx emission is increased; high λ is possible, which can eliminate high NOx; power and efficiency drop approximately 10%.</div></div>
