Résumé :
Starup – a Jutish place name with historical and archaeological potentialJutland’s six localities with the name of Starup or Stårup have not, with the exception of Sønder Starup on the edge of Haderslev Fjord, attracted any great archaeological interest. Most recently, the Starup area of the town of Løgumkloster has been dismissed as uninteresting in settlement-historical terms. This article attempts to rehabilitate this name group and presents the case for greater archaeological focus on these localities. It is argued that Starup was originally the term used for transit points between land and water traffic in the Viking Age and Early Middle Ages.In addition to the Starup localities, the article discusses a name complex with a possible, so far unknown, snekke name at Øster Starup. An alternative explanation is also given for Løgumkloster’s Latin name of Locus Dei. In conclusion, Starup is compared with other place names indicating trade and transit. It is argued that the Starup localities could have formed part of a more general transport infrastructure, just as the activities at this type of settlement can be perceived as a precursor to the urban developments of the Middle Ages.Michael Lerche NielsenAfdeling for NavneforskningNordisk ForskningsinstitutKøbenhavns Universitet

Résumé :
The carbonate unit Ca-2 found in the Løgumkloster-l well is located on the northern marginal carbonate platform of the North German Zechstein Basin. The ea. 43 m thick sequence includes former oncoidal/algal muds which were deposited in a relatively quiet lagoonal back-barrier environment, and ooidal carbonate sands, deposited in a rather agitated shoal environment. The carbonate sediments of Ca-2 have been subjected to a complex sequence of diagenetic events. However, the present porosity/ permeability, and thus the reservoir quality of the rocks, is primarily linked to four events: two leaching phases, a phase of chemical compaction, and a late anhydritization. The first phase of leaching created mouldic porosity. The last phase of leaching was important as it resulted in a widening of the preexisting pores and fractures and thereby facilitated percolation of sulphate solutions causing the late anhydritization, which considerably reduced the porosity/ permeability of the rock. The present pore geometry of the rock is complex. In the oolitic intervals the intra- and inter-ooidal porosity types are the most widespread. In the oncolitic/algal intervals intra- and inter-oncoidal porosity and vuggy porosity are often combined with intercrystalline porosity. The corresponding Ca-2 rock in the Brøns-l well, situated ca. 20 km northwest of the Løgumkloster- l well, was subjected to the same post-depositional evolution. Comparison with the diagenesis of the upper part of the Ca-la formation in the Aabenraa-1 well and the Ca-1 formation of the Varmes-1 well also shows close similarity in the diagenetic evolution.

Rock samples of the Upper Permian Ca-2 unit of the Løgumkloster-l well have been subjected to chemical analysis. The Ca-2 interval was undoubtedly originally an aragonite which have undergone several episodes of diagenesis including a dolomitization and a heavy anhydrite mineralization. Two original facies types are recognized, an oolitic shoal facies, and a lagoonal carbonate facies. The samples have been characterized by neutron activation, atomic absorption, Xray diffraction, palaeomagnetism, optical and electron microscopical examination. Samples of the drilling mud has been analyzed as well, and it is found that contamination of the samples included in the present study from the drilling mud is unlikely to have happened. Imprints of both the original facies and the diagenetic events are found in the present work. The Sr and Ba abundances reflect the original facies-bound distribution, which is also reflected in the normalized REE distribution patterns. A low-Sr anhydrite component is clearly distinguishable in several parameter cross plots. Iron, Sc, REE and several other elements are found to be situated in the EDTA-insoluble residue, which has been identified primarily as a muscovite or clay mineral phase. Pyrite is present, although of small relative volume it is thought to be responsible for the occurrence of As, Sb, and possibly Se. A small fraction of the Cr, As, and Sb may originate from the heavy part of the crude oil, the introduction of which was the last process of alteration the rock experienced. A geomagnetically reversed period is encountered in the middle of the Ca-2 interval, and is tentatively identified as one of the Tatarian reversed events.

Résumé :
In the following article, the restorative potential of the environment in a cancer rehabilitation programme is analysed and discussed. The programme was developed as a transdisciplinary cooperation of psychologists, theologians, philosophers, and artists. To investigate the importance of environments, six qualitative focus group interviews were performed with 36 Danish cancer patients (30 females; six males) who attended the programme either at The Danish Knowledge Centre for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care (REHPA), a former hospital building adapted for rehabilitation, or at Løgumkloster Refugium, an old monastery, used as a place for retreat. The data were analysed using a content analysis that took a psychodynamic and hermeneutic approach as its point of departure. Outcomes associated with the environment that enhanced the well-being of the patients were feelings: a) of being close to nature, b) of being protected, c) of the spirit of place, and d) of experiencing narratives of peace. Our programme supports the idea, that environments in which cancer rehabilitation takes place can trigger different emotions and fulfil different existential needs. Aesthetic, historical, and spiritual aspects of an environment can help individuals to respond to existential challenges and can induce hope. Our study contributes knowledge about the interplay between existential well-being and aspects of the environment.
