Résumé :

For the first time, we report the characterization of triacylglycerols and fatty acids in Leucaena (Leucaena leucephala) oil [LUCO], an unexplored nontraditional non-medicinal plant belonging to the family Fabaceae. LUCO was converted to fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs). We analyzed the triacylglycerols (TAGs) of pure LUCO and their FAMEs by time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS) followed by multivariate analysis for discrimination among the FAMEs. Our investigations for the analysis of LUCO samples represent noble features of glycerides. A new type of ion source, coupled with high-resolution TOF-MS was applied for the comprehensive analysis of triacylglycerols. The composition of fatty acid based LUCO oil was studied using Gas Chromatography (GC-FID). The major fatty acid components of LUCO oil are linoleic acid (52.08%) oleic acid (21.26%), palmitic acid (7.91%) and stearic acid (6.01%). A metal analysis in LUCO was done by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The structural elucidation and thermal stability of LUCO were studied by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques and TGA-DSC, respectively. We also measured the cytotoxicity of LUCO.

Résumé :

Land use and transportation planning have a significant impact on the performance of cities’ traffic conditions and the quality of people’s lives. The changing characteristics of land use will affect and challenge how a city is able to manage, organize, and plan for new developments and transportation. These challenges can be better addressed with effective methods of monitoring and predicting, which can enable optimal efficiency in how a growing city like Calgary, Canada, can perform. Using ontology in land use planning is a new initiative currently being researched and explored. In this regard, ontology incorporates relationships between the various entities of land use. The aim of this study is to present Land Use Change Ontology (LUCO) with a deep neural network for traffic prediction. We present a Land Use Change Ontology (LUCO) approach, using expressions of how the semantics of land use changes relate to the integration of temporal land use information. This study examines the City of Calgary’s land use data from the years 2001, 2010, and 2015. In applying the LUCO approach to test data, experimental outcomes indicated that from 2001 to 2015 residential land use increased by 30% and open space decreased by 40%. Forecasting traffic is increasingly essential for successful traffic modelling, operations, and management. However, traditional means for predicting traffic flow have largely assumed restrictive model architectures that have not controlled for the amounts of land use change. Inspired by deep learning methods and effective data mining computing capabilities, this paper introduces the deep learning Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) to predict traffic while considering the impact of land use change. The RNN was successful in learning the features of traffic flow under various land use change situations. Experimental results indicated that, with the consideration of LUCO, the deep learning predictors had better accuracy when compared with other existing models. Success of our modeling approach indicates that cities could apply this modeling approach to make land use transportation planning more efficient.

Résumé :

The temperature dependence of the resistivity and the thermopower in the region from 4.2K up to 1000K for the six isostructural paramagnetic compounds TCo 2 (T=Y, Lu, Sc, Hf, Zr, Ce) is studied. The resistivity ρ (T) follows a T 2 dependence at low temperatures in all these compounds. Plotting the A values into an A vs. γ2 diagram shows that YCo 2, LuCo 2, and ScCo 2 are spinfluctuation systems (A and γ denote the coefficients in ρ (T) = ρ0 + AT 2 and that of the electronic specific heat, respectively) HfCo 2 and ZrCo 2 do not fit into this general tendency in the ( A , γ2)-diagram. The temperature dependent thermopower S(T) in YCo 2, LuCo 2 and ScCo 2 exhibits a pronounced minimum in the low temperature region. These minima are obviously connected with the existence of spin fluctuations (paramagnon-drag). Spin fluctuations in HfCo 2 and ZrCo 2 are less important. This we conclude also from the ten times smaller A-values and the missing minimum in the thermopower at low temperatures.

Introduction: Dentomaxilar anomalies (DMA) are the third most common oral pathology in Chile.Objective: To determine the frequent of dentomaxilar anomalies observed in patients treated in the Department of Orthodontic of Dental Specialties Service (DSS) belonging to the Barros Luco Trudeau Healthcare Complex, Santiago, Chile. The population belongs to pediatric patients between 5 and 15 years, who have DMA, trea-ted in the southern metropolitan health service.Method: The sample of 250 patients with DMA was chosen from April to September of the year 2019, therefore, the data was extracted from the clinical records of the patients. The classification of the anomalies was carried out using the Bonn`s biogenetic method, modi-fied by the University of Chile.Result: It was observed that the most frequent intermaxillary DMA of the sample is in the transverse direction and corresponds to the unilateral crossbite, on the other hand, the most frequent intramaxillary DMA is the alteration of dentoalveolar per large tooth. All intermaxillary DMA agreed to be more frequent at the age of 9 years.Conclusion: It was possible to define the frequency of the DMA in patients treated in the DSS, this being in the transverse direction, corresponding to unilateral crossbite. With the present study it is intended to make a contribution for future studies that use similar me-thodologies.

Résumé :

Los elementos de protección personal (EPP) son el conjunto de equipamiento, componente de las precauciones estándares, destinados a proteger la piel y mucosas del operador evitando el contacto con agentes infecciosos. Los funcionarios de salud que tratan con pacientes COVID-19 se encuentran más expuestos a infectarse en comparación con el resto de los funcionarios de salud, razón por la cual deben utilizar de manera adecuada estos elementos de protección, para protegerse de una posible infección por COVID-19. El objetivo del estudio es determinar disponibilidad, manejo y uso EPP utilizados por los funcionarios del Servicio de Urgencia del Complejo Asistencial Barros Luco Trudeau. Este es un estudio transversal descriptivo realizado por medio de encuesta a los funcionarios de la Unidad de Emergencia HBLT a través de Google Forms®. Del total de funcionarios de la Unidad de Emergencia del Hospital Barros Luco Trudeau, un total de 123 funcionarios realizaron la encuesta cumpliendo con los criterios de inclusión, de los cuales 78 fueron mujeres y 45 hombres, con edades dentro del rango desde los 20 años a mayores de 61 años. Se observó que 39,0% de los funcionarios fue notificado como COVID-19 positivo. Un 60,2% de los funcionarios tuvo una secuencia predeterminada para instalación de los EPP y un 68,3% para el retiro de los EPP. Los más utilizados fueron mascarillas quirúrgicas (95,9%), mascarilla KN 95 (88,6%) y guantes (90,2%). Este estudio contribuye a destacar la importancia en la correcta utilización de los EPP por parte de los funcionarios de la salud, para limitar los contagios y mejorar el cuidado de los equipos de salud durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Además, se describir un patrón de sintomatología más frecuente en los profesionales sanitarios del servicio de urgencia.

Résumé :

Este artículo, a partir del censo oficial chileno de 1907 y constatando inexactitudes cuantitativas, pasa revista al ejercicio de la categoría de población y el desmedro en este uso, de la realidad india, poniendo énfasis en cómo tiene lugar una destitución de los conflictos territoriales, políticos e identitarios que atraviesan la tensa relación entre el Estado-nación y los indios. El artículo estudia el desplazamiento de esta problemática en distintos momentos históricos de la institucionalidad chilena, y muestra que pese a las diferentes posturas, coexiste en una misma configuración epistemológica y política, comprometiendo la implementación de la salud pública en Chile. Las figuras de Orrego Luco, Murillo, González y Allende, se dan cita en estos análisis y debates.

Résumé :

The deamplification model developed by Zendagui et al. has been adapted in this study for the case of P1 wave propagation in porous media in order to investigate the effect of saturation degree on motion coherency at depth. The input wave amplitude distribution function is generated compatibly with the suitable free field coherency model and the top wave amplitudes are evaluated using the transfer matrix method following the Biot’s theory. The results show that even if the saturation degree decreases slightly below the complete saturation, it influences the coherencies of horizontal and vertical motion due to P1 wave incidences. Elsewhere, the generation process shows that in this case, the wave front content, necessary to produce a coherency identical to the Luco and Wong model at the free field, is more focus with less intensity than required in the case of a complete saturation.

ABSTRACT We examined the in vivo growth, dissemination, and reactivation of strains of the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii using a bioluminescence-based imaging system. Two T. gondii strains, one with a highly virulent disease phenotype in mice (S23) and the other with a 1,000-fold-lower virulence phenotype (S22), were engineered to stably express the light-emitting protein luciferase. One clone of each wild-type strain was isolated, and the two clones (S23-luc7 and S22-luc2) were found to express similar levels of luciferase. Mice were infected intraperitoneally with S23-luc7 (50 or 5 parasites) or S22-luc2 (500, 50, or 5 parasites), and the progress of the infections was examined noninvasively following injection of the substrate for luciferase, d-luciferin. In mice infected with 50 S23-luc7 parasites, the parasites grew exponentially within the peritoneal cavity (as measured by light emitted from luciferase-expressing parasites) during days 1 to 10 p.i., and this proliferation continued until there was severe disease. In mice infected with 500 S22-luc2 parasites, the parasites proliferated in a fashion similar to the S23-luc7 proliferation during days 1 to 6, but this was followed by a precipitous drop in the signal to levels below the limit of detection. Using this technique, we were also able to observe the process of reactivation of T. gondii in chronically infected mice. After treatment with dexamethasone, we detected reactivation of toxoplasmosis in mice infected with S23-luc7 and S22-luc2. During reactivation, growth of S23-luc7 was initially detected primarily in the head and neck area, while in S22-luc2-infected mice the parasites were detected primarily in the abdomen. This method has great potential for identifying important differences in the dissemination and growth of different T. gondii strains, especially strains with dramatically different disease outcomes.

A partir de la teoría de Rancière sobre el “reparto de lo sensible” (2009), en este ensayo se establece una relación entre deseo y muerte en tres piezas latinoamericanas basadas en tragedias clásicas. En orden de estrenos son las siguientes obras: La viuda de Apablaza, de 1928, en Chile (Fedra), de Germán Luco Cruchaga; Antígona Vélez, de 1952, de Leopoldo Marechal, en Argentina (Antígona) y Klássico (com k), de 2013, de Mayombe Grupo de Teatro, en Brasil (Medea). Según Rancière, “lo que llamamos imagen es un elemento dentro de un dispositivo que crea cierto sentido de realidad, cierto sentido común.”. (El espectador emancipado, p.104) Las tres heroínas presentan caracteres configurados por la tensión subversiva entre deseo y muerte. Sólo que sus imágenes adquieren particularidades, sentidos de realidad específicos de acuerdo a cada uno de los “dispositivos” en los cuales se encuentran. Pretende-se discutir el tema de la muerte femenina como restitución del orden perdido, que está presente en las tragedias de Sófocles y Eurípides, en las actualizaciones estudiadas.

El objetivo de este estudio es determinar si existen diferencias en características psicopáticas según complejidades delictivas en adolescentes. Se utiliza un diseño de encuesta transversal correlacional y un muestro intencional. La muestra está constituida por 49 adolescentes de entre 14 y 18 años (M = 16,08, DE = 1,06) caracterizados por complejidades delictuales por criterios de experto, utilizando los lineamientos MMIDA (Perez-Luco et al., 2014). Una vez caracterizados son evaluados a través del Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory (YPI, Andershed et al., 2002). Los resultados arrojan diferencias estadísticamente significativas en características psicopáticas entre los grupos persistentes y control (F (2, 40) = 3,45, p = ,04). Específicamente, en el Factor 2 Dureza/Insensibilidad (F (2, 41) = 4,41, p = ,02) en la sub escala Falta de Remordimiento (F (2, 41) = 8,17, p = ,001) y en Irresponsabilidad (F (2, 44) = 5,69, p = ,01). Se concluye que los adolescentes vinculados a una delincuencia persistente pertenecen a una población distintiva en su afectividad, en contraste con adolescentes que no reportan delitos; se discuten sus posibles implicancias.

Résumé :

The problem of a half-space with cavity under vertically incident waves was solved by many researchers using different approaches. However, substantially different solutions were obtained, partially due to the difference in the method of formulation, and partially due to the lack of complete identical data for use in analysis. In this paper, the finite/infinite element approach has been adopted to study the two-dimensional response of an elastic half-space containing a buried, unlined, infinitely long cylindrical of circular shape subjected to harmonic P and SV waves. First, the analysis procedure based on the finite and infinite elements is summarized. Second, considerations in preparing the finite element mesh to ensure the accuracy and convergence of the solution are presented. Next, the validity of the procedure of solution is verified for some intuitive, fundamental cases. Finally, the problems solved by previous researchers with identical or assumed data will be re-solved, along with discussions on the discrepancies existing among the three solutions. One feature with the finite/infinite element approach is that it is simple and straightforward, involving less assumptions and mathematical operations, whose reliability has been verified in solving various soil vibration problems. The fact that the present solutions are in close agreement to those by Luco and De Barros (1994) for all the cases studied indicates that the latter is the most reliable one among the existing theories.

Land use and cover change (LUCC) has a non-negligible impact on both carbon emissions and carbon sinks. Based on the analysis of land use dynamics in Shandong Province, this study simulates land use changes in Shandong Province in 2030 under the Natural Development Scenario (NDS) and Sustainable Development Scenario (SDS), classifies the risk level of carbon emissions in Shandong Province using the Land Use Carbon Emission (LUCE) risk indexes, and compares the differences between the risk level regions under NDS and SDS. This study shows that under the influence of LUCC, the carbon emissions in Shandong province increased significantly, from 90.5591 million tons in 2000 to 493.538 million tons in 2020, with urban land being the main source of carbon emissions, which increased from 90.0757 million tons in 2000 to 490.139 million tons in 2020. The main source of the increase in urban land was cropland. The LUCE was positively correlated with urban land area. The LUCE of SDS was 7.2423 million tons less than that of NDS. From 2000 to 2020, the risk areas of LUCE in Shandong province were mainly no-risk and mild-risk areas. The number of moderate-risk areas and high-risk areas of SDS was less than that of NDS. The rational organization of land use is important for Shandong Province to achieve low-carbon development.

Abstract We propose an analytical method to compute efficiently the displacement and stress of static and dynamic Green's functions for viscoelastic layered half-spaces. When source and receiver depths are close, it is difficult to compute Green's functions of the layered half-space, because their integrands, whose variable of integration is the horizontal wavenumber, oscillate with only slowly decreasing amplitude. In particular, when the depths are equal, it is extremely difficult to compute the stress Green's functions, because their integrands oscillate with increasing amplitude. To remedy this problem, we first derive the asymptotic solutions, which converge to the integrands of Green's functions with increasing wavenumber. For this purpose, we modify the generalized R/T (reflection and transmission) coefficient method (Luco and Apsel; 1983) to be completely free from growing exponential terms, which are the obstacles to finding the asymptotic solutions. By subtracting the asymptotic solutions from the integrands of the corresponding Green's functions, we obtain integrands that converge rapidly to zero. We can, therefore, significantly reduce the range of wavenumber integration. Since the asymptotic solutions are expressed by the products of Bessel functions and simple exponential functions, they are analytically integrable. Finally, we obtain accurate Green's functions by adding together numerical and analytical integrations. We first show this asymptotic technique for Green's functions due to point sources, and extend it to Green's functions due to dipole sources. Finally, we demonstrate the validity and efficiency of our method for various cases.

Introducción: el suicidio es un fenómeno complejo y prevalente. En Chile, los centros de atención primaria pesquisan pacientes con ideación suicida activa y los derivan a centros terciarios, pero el proceso es complejo y poco fluido.El objetivo de este trabajo fue mapear el proceso clínico que siguen los pacientes con ideación suicida activa derivados desde el Centro de Salud Familiar Áncora San Alberto Hurtado en Santiago, Chile. Métodos: se realizaron reuniones con los principales protagonistas y se recolectaron protocolos de manejo. Se graficaron los procesos clínicos según la edad del paciente, identificando nudos, brechas y quiebres. Resultados: los pacientes menores de 15 años son derivados al servicio de urgencia pediátrica en el Complejo Asistencial Dr. Sótero del Río, donde son evaluados por un psiquiatra infanto-juvenil, quien determina si son dados de alta para continuar seguimiento en el nivel secundario o son hospitalizados. Los pacientes mayores de 15 años son referidos al servicio de urgencia psiquiátrica del Complejo Asistencial Barros Luco Trudeau para ser evaluados por un psiquiatra, quien evalúa si requieren seguimiento a nivel secundario u hospitalización. En este último caso, son derivados nuevamente al Hospital Sótero del Río. Se identificaron nudos, brechas y quiebres que dificultan la atención y seguimiento de los pacientes. Conclusión: existen condiciones que afectan el proceso clínico de pacientes con ideación suicida activa derivados desde un centro de atención primaria, y es fundamental reparar las dificultades identificadas para ofrecer a la población una atención en salud mental eficiente.

Results from a layered foam rubber model of soil and the structure (3-D) of the El Centro Terminal Substation building, site of the well known recording of the 1940 El Centro earthquake, indicate that the response of the foundation for frequencies above 4 Hz is as much as a factor of 3 lower than the free-field response amplitude. To validate the modeling technique with sample structure, we use the formulation for calculating theoretical responses of Wong and Luco (1977). Two-dimensional computer model results by Shannon and Wilson, Inc. and Agbabian Associates (1980), gave a response amplitude in the building about a factor of 2 lower than the response amplitude of the free-field for frequencies above 1.5 Hz. Foam rubber modeling shows that at higher frequencies most of the reduction in response is due to the energy being scattered by the shape of the rigid foundation rather than its inertial mass. Under the assumption that most of the energy was vertically incident SH, the free-field peak acceleration during the May 18, 1940 El Centro earthquake was about 50% higher than recorded on the 1940 accelerogram. The transfer function is very similar in shape to the weighting function used by Munguia and Brune (1984), to match synthetic accelerograms with the 1940 El Centro earthquake, suggesting that much of the relative deficit in high frequency energy was a result of soil-structure interaction rather than a source effect.
