This paper considers the significant changes that have occurred in the tourist space of the Altai-Sayan mountainous region. In fact, it is a cross-border area and an important tourist region in the Russian Federation. It should be mentioned that the structure of the tourist space can be studied properly while using the model of the territorial tourist system. The authors examine the common features of tourism systems in the mountainous environments of the region. The study examines the tourist infrastructure, organizers of tourist services, local people’s attitudes and tourists’ preferences in the tourist industry. Studies in the field of tourist space enable to distinguish the types of tourism and their distribution in the Altai-Sayan region. It is worthwhile noting that health tourism has become one of the fastest growing subfields in the tourist industry of this region. The tourist development projects such as the economic zone of “Turquoise Katun” and shore development projects of warm lakes have also encouraged this process. Moreover, ecotourism development is of great importance to this area because there are many protected natural areas and some of them are under UNESCO protection. Also, tourism development outlooks are associated with cross-border cooperation and sustainable economic development of the region.

Résumé :
This article presents a research carried out in 2016 within the framework of a Master’s degree in geography at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc, which focused on the concept of tourist image of the lakes of Savoie. Regarding the latest bi-departmental promotional tourism campaign focused on lake tourism, it proposes to take a retrospective and analytical look at the lake tourism development in the department of Savoie, with the lakes of Bourget and Aiguebelette. To do so, the article mobilizes the chronosystemic tool in order to cross the images produced by the stakeholders of the destination and the lake planning actions. Three main tourist periods are thus defined, with several «types » of lakes interspersed. Their perspective highlights both i) permanences in the images produced, with “ types of lakes” continuously mobilized by tourism stakeholders to sell their destination but also ii) innovations with the creation of new discursive elements. In fine, this work highlights the logic of permanent readjustments between the tourism images produced by the stakeholders of tourism promotion, the main developments carried out and the tourism practices observed.

Résumé :
Lake (or lacustrine) water is one of the most sensitive and vulnerable resources for many tourist destinations, whose attractiveness highly depends on the water quality and availability in the lakes. The Shchuchinsk-Burabay resort area, located in the Akmola region of the Northern Kazakhstan, is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the country, known for its attractive natural landscape and for its great number of lakes. However, during the last decades, these lakes have been facing environmental issues due to their overexploitation and increasing level of pollution. Thus, the aim of the current study is to examine the changes in surface area of these lakes during the last 30 years by using GIS technologies, and the influence of tourism industry upon this phenomenon. Accommodation facilities (hotels, sanatoriums and guesthouses), as main tourism-related water consumers, have been targeted within our analysis. Results show that tourism is one of the factors responsible for surface area decline of the main lakes in the region, and its responsibility increases when combined with other factors. This study also formulates recommendations for water management policymakers in order to guarantee the sustainability of lake water as a key resource of the tourism industry in the region.

Résumé :
Tourist attractiveness is a key factor for the development of the tourism industry in the region. The Drohobych region includes the neighboring districts and the cities of Stebnyk and Drohobych, with the latter being the administrative center of the district and the city of regional subordination. The main factor in shaping the region’s improved image as a tourist destination is the availability and efficient use of tourism potential. Its use is influenced by a number of political, economic and social factors that may be restrictive or favorable in nature. The region attracts tourists with its natural landscapes, mountainous terrains with forests, lakes, ponds, river valleys with recreation areas and waterfalls, and Skole Beskids National Nature Park. The paper analyzes the quality of transport connections to the tourist destinations of the region, the state of the environment, the quality of the communication system, the composition and the effectiveness of the logistics of the tourist sector. Besides, the efficient use of information potential through the introduction of the project «Drohobych – Smart City» contributed to the formation of a positive tourist image. The article outlines increasing role of the tourist information center in shaping the tourist attraction through analyzing the dynamics of the number of tourists’ visits and revealing the close links with the number of persons accommodated in hotels, collective accommodation facilities, visits to museums by calculating correlation coefficients. The efficiency of the use of the financial and investment components of tourism potential has been studied by analyzing local budget revenues from tourism fees and expenditures on tourism development. The analysis of the components of the tourist potential has allowed us to distinguish its features, to state the possibility of development of almost all types of tourism, to identify the problems of improving the image of the Drohobych area as a tourist destination. Their solution will need further research.

Résumé :
Telaga Warna and Telaga Pengilon are two volcanic lakes in the Dieng Plateau offer some unique phenomena which are interested for tourists to visit. Telaga Warna and Telaga Pengilon are located side by side in the Dieng Palteau. Those two lakes also have specific ecosystem which differ to other lakes. However as land use in the surrounding area is now gradually changing, the lake is now facing to environmental degradation. The land use in the surrounding area is for intensive agricultural which main crops are vegetable, especially potatoes. Meanwhile, the number of tourist visiting those two lakes is increasing; it may also give some impact to the lake environment. This research aims to study the impacts of agricultural practices and tourism activities to the lake environmental which lead to the environment sustainability of the lakes. The field survey was conducted to collect some data on lakes characteristics, agricultural and tourism activities. Some interviews to local people and tourists were also conducted. Some water and sediment samples were collected followed by laboratory analyses. Some secondary data from previous study was also collected. Data analysis was conducted based on qualitative and quantitative techniques. The study found that agricultural practices of potatoes plantation uses water from the Telaga Pengilon to irrigate the plant by pumping out the water using water pump and distributes the water over the plantation area. Agricultural practices lead to soil erosion, which contribute sediment to the lake carried by surface runoff. Therefore, the volume of lakes is gradually decreasing. The use of fertilizer in the agricultural practice contribute nutrient into the lake carried by surface runoff, leading to the eutrophication, due to the excess used of fertilizer. The study concludes that agricultural practices and tourism activities have some positive economic impacts to the local community, however it also give some adverse affects on the lakes, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The volume of lakes is gradually decreasing due to sedimentation. In the long term periods the lake may not be interesting object for tourism.

Résumé :
Eutrophication is one of the major threats to the quality of water in high mountain lakes. The inflow of elements having biological origin may significantly aggravate the ecological status of those ecosystems. For this reason, the aim of this study was to map and assess the impact of anthropogenic pressure on alpine lakes in the valley of Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich (known in English as the Valley of Five Polish Lakes) in the Tatra National Park in Poland. The effects of tourism and easy access to alpine lakes on changes in their ecological status were determined. Tourist trails were evaluated based on the difficulty of access to the water surface of analyzed alpine lakes, with a method developed for assessing anthropogenic pressure on aquatic ecosystems. The method, deployed for the first time in 2019, was modified and adapted to the local environmental conditions in the research area. The results of this study indicate that tourism pressure contributes to the growth of submerged vegetation in alpine lakes. The presence of aquatic plants (including vascular plants) shows ecosystem response to water enrichment with biogenic substances. The present findings were used to formulate practical recommendations and propose modifications to the evaluated hiking trails. The research method developed in the study can support analysis and control of tourist traffic, thus reducing anthropogenic pressure on alpine lakes in national parks located in mountain areas.

Résumé :
Since 1974, tourists are attracted in Leh district for its mountainous landscape, environment, high altitude lakes, Indus River, beautiful villages and Himalayan people living in scenography valleys filled of Buddhist heritage sites. All makes this region a great place for adventure sports, sightseen, cultural and religious tourism. Tourism industry has rapidly become one of the most important aspects of District development paths. Visitors bring hard currency and spend money contributing to monetary economic boom that can have both positive and negative impacts on the society and territory. Tourism in Leh District has a short season (from May to October) but a highly profitable business especially with national visitors increasing by the day. This study, based on data collected from the Tourism Department in Leh, analyses the international and national tourist arrivals in time series to find out pattern and trends in the historical data and investigate global and local factors affecting tourist inflows (rises or falls) in the District. Yearly arrivals depends on several factors and issues as geopolitical and global economic problems, new trends in tourist destinations, film induced tourism, climate changes, natural disasters, pandemic and more. These unpredictable factors affect tourist flows, decreasing or increasing the arrivals even drastically. The long-term sustainability of the local development must not depend mainly on mass tourism because economic dependence on only one, although promising but fluctuating sector, pose several problems (e.g. impacts and pressure on infrastructures, environment and significant socio-cultural changes.

The unique character of Morskie Oko is reflected by its recognition by “The Wall Street Journal” as one of five most beautiful lakes in the world. This results in exceptionally high interest of tourists in the lake despite the difficulties reaching the place. It takes walking a nine-kilometre route with a height difference of 420 m. Study results show the annual attendance of the place by more than a million people, whereas the number of tourists per day can exceed 10,000. The tourist traffic evidently intensifies between June and September. It results in high human pressure on the lake’s waters and surroundings, leading to the degradation of most components of the natural environment. Such high traffic intensity is frequently a nuisance for tourists using the trails themselves. Moreover, high tourist traffic contributes to the intensification of slope processes, resulting in mass movements in the form of debris and snow avalanches, potentially changing the course of the trails.

Résumé :
Lakes provide different ecosystem services, including those related to tourism and recreation. Sustainable development principles should be respected in lake tourism planning. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of tourism on the lakeshore zone in a typical post-glacial Lakeland in Northern Poland (Central Europe). An explanatory analysis of the distribution of individual spatial factor values was performed using the SHapley Additive exPlanations algorithm (SHAP). In a first step, the aim was to select a Machine Learning model for modelling based on Shapley values. The greater or lesser influence of a given factor on the tourism function was measured for individual lakes. The final results of ensemble modelling and SHAP were obtained by averaging the results of five random repetitions of the execution of these models. The impact of tourism on the lakeshore zone can be much more accurately determined using an indirect method, by analysing the tourism and recreational infrastructure constantly present there. The values of the indices proposed in the study provide indirect information on the number of tourists using the tourist and recreational facilities and are a measure of the impact of tourism on the lakeshore zone. The developed methodology can be applied to the majority of post-glacial lakes in Europe and other regions of the world in order to monitor the threats resulting from shore zone exploitation. Such studies can be an appropriate tool for management and planning by the relevant authorities.

Résumé :
The sizes of glacial lakes of the Ukrainian Carpathians without surface water runoff (Brebeneskul, Nesamovyte – the last 130 years, Verhne Ozirne, Nyzhne Ozirne – the last 50 years) and surface water runoff lakes Dogyaska (the last 30 years) has not substantial changes. The lakes Maricheyka and Vorozheska considerably decreased in area (20–40 % of previous squares), obviously, due to the erosion of rocky moraines-damages. Comparison of photos lakes Nesamovyte (1935–2008) has not showed changes of the outlines of the water area, the sedge-sphagnum alloy and the coastal thickets of the debris. The small glacial lakes Breskul has reduced its bed, because the sedge-sphagnum alloy overgrown with ray herbs, but the open water area is stable during the last 67 years. There are some increase alkalinity water of Brebeneskul and Verhne Ozirne and acidification of the Nesamovyte during the last 60 years. Unidirectional changes in the acid-alkaline balance of glacial lakes waters are not noted. The shrub covered decreases its area in basins of the all glacial lakes of Ukrainian Carpathians every year as a result of the cuttings of tourists for the campfires. For example, the number of the hearths in the Nesamovyte basin has decreased from 7 in the 2001 to the 80 in the 2017 years. The most intense in this process is in the basins of Nesamovyte and Brebeneskul. The number of tourists stopping for a night in the basins of high mountain lakes increased by 7–10 times according to the calculation of foci traces during 2001–2017 years. The clogging of shores and water areas of the glacial lakes and the formation of random garbage increases in the last two decades. The number of the oligosaprobic crustaceans species decrease and mesosaprobic are growing, appear polisabrobic species. The saprobic status of water lakes with the greatest recreational influence (Nesamovyte, Brebeneskul, Dogyaska) has a tendency to increase during the last 17 years. The loss of stenobiontic crustaceans species from glacial lakes (Streblocerus serricaudatus (Fischer, 1849), Mixodiaptomus tatricus (Wierzejski, 1883) and some others), the penetration of non-typical hydro- and amphibiontic species into highlands waters (Pohlia nutans (Hedwig) Lindberg, 1879, Bufo bufo (Linnaeus, 1758), Simocephalus vetulus (O. F. Müller, 1776) and others), and the increase in the rate of mass, mezosaprobic and eurybionts species in the total number of water groups are noted. Verhne Ozirne was the last untouched glacial lake of the Ukrainian Carpathians, but after the introduction of its basin to the Ramsar Convention there was laid a path there and today we will observe intensification of tourist and pasture influence on its ecosystem. The most anthropogenic negative influence has recreation (clogging, cutting, trampling, automotourism and other factors). Mountain tourism is one of the most dangerous types of anthropopression in high-altitude areas, as it is in the lakes located on permanent tourist routes and water catchments which is the place for overnight tourists, the degradation of populations and groups of mountainous species of hydrobionts has been noted. Moderate pastoral influence (up to thirty heads of cattle per hectare per day) does not make significant changes from the hydrobionts communities of the glacial lakes. The most effective mechanism for preventing the negative processes of anthropogenic transformation of ecosystems of the glacial lakes of the Ukrainian Carpathians is to determine the buffer number of tourists visiting basins of unique aquatic glacial ecosystems of Ukraine and the strict control over compliance by visitors with the rules of conduct regulated by environmental organizations.

Résumé :
The sheer amount of tourism attractions in North Sumatra makes it difficult for visitors to choose where they wish to travel. Tourists can select the ideal place, but they must also deal with a number of issues, such as time and financial limits, which can significantly influence the selection. Therefore, the goal of this study is to assist travelers in selecting the top tourist destination in North Sumatra based on their time and financial constraints. The Simple Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) technique is employed in this study to choose tourist attractions based on four criteria: the measurement of the distance to tourist locations from the city center, the quantity of public tourist facilities, the cost of entrance tickets to attractions, and the daily average of visitors to attractions. The study's findings show that the Decision Support System is competent at handling data and making the best suggestions for tourism attractions. The findings revealed that Sibolangit Forest was the superior alternative in general. Sipiso-piso In addition, waterfall was chosen as the best substitute for places with waterfalls, Lake Toba was chosen as the best substitute for destinations with lakes, and Dua Rasa River was chosen as the best substitute for destinations with rivers. One piece of advice is to compare it to other decision support system techniques and add other factors, such as cleanliness, safety, age, tour kind, and ease of access to tourist attractions

Résumé :
Tourists can adversely influence the ecology of oligotrophic lakes by increasing algal production via direct nutrient inputs and/or re-suspension of sediments. To assess the influence of tourists on food web dynamics, we used the natural abundance of stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen to calculate the relative importance of autochthonous and allochthonous carbon sources to littoral zone food webs across five variously visited perched dune lakes on Fraser Island, Australia. The relative importance of autochthonous (phytoplankton and periphyton) carbon to littoral zone consumers was highly variable across taxa and lakes. Despite the potential influence of algal biomass, ambient nutrient concentrations and tannin concentrations on the contribution of autochthonous carbon to littoral zone food webs, none of these variables correlated to the per cent contribution of autochthonous carbon to consumer diets. Instead, autochthonous sources of carbon contributed more to the diets of aquatic consumers in heavily visited lakes than in less visited lakes, suggesting that tourist activities might drive these systems towards an increased reliance on autochthonous carbon. The assessment of the contribution of autochthonous carbon to littoral zone food webs may represent a more robust indicator of the impact of tourists in oligotrophic lakes than standard measures of nutrient concentrations and/or algal biomass.

Résumé :
Tourism Object is a fundamental component in the tourism industry and one of the reasons visitors travel. The State of Indonesia is one of the various countries whose number of tourist objects is very large and varied. One of these attractions is natural tourism, for example, the sea, beaches, rivers, lakes, and mountains, as well as for the building objects including historical heritage sites, forts, museums and so on. The method used in this study uses qualitative research by applying the method of mobile positioning data to help the manager of tourist attractions promote the location of tourist attractions. The mobile positioning system model can be used to understand and determine the mobile position based on location coordinates. This mobile positioning system uses GPS technology, a tool to get or generate the coordinates of the position of the online map technology that Google provides to show the position that has been stored in the system. The research results from this Tourism Object application can detect the user's location according to the mobile positioning data method. This Android-based Tourist Object application can display a list of tourist objects according to the area occupied by the user. This tourist attraction application can add new tourist objects by admin. It is hoped that in the future this application can be run on the iOS system and can add images to new tourist attractions.

Résumé :
Tourism pressure on protected areas with attractive landscapes leads to environmental modifications. Eutrophication poses the main threat to the quality of water in alpine lakes. Even small inflows of biogenic elements can disrupt the ecological balance of these ecosystems. The aim of this study was to verify the hypothesis that recreational activities and easy access to alpine lakes contribute to changes in their ecological status. This hypothesis was verified by analyzing the presence of hydromacrophytes in two lakes of the Tatra National Park (Poland). The analysis was carried out along segments of hiking trails which were evaluated for accessibility to the studied lakes. Underwater surveys were carried out during scuba diving expeditions in 2012–2016. Submerged vegetation was evaluated in both lakes. This is the first study in Poland and one of the few projects in the world to have relied on such extensive support from scuba divers to generate highly accurate measurements. The study demonstrated that lake bottoms were extensively covered by Potamogeton friesii in the vicinity of trail segments with easy access to lakes. Our results show that tourism pressure contributes to the growth of aquatic vegetation in some areas of alpine lakes. We relied on our findings to propose several modifications to the routes of the evaluated tourist trails to minimize the impact of anthropogenic pressure on the studied lakes.

Résumé :
This article aims to determine the life cycle of tourist destinations in three lakes: Beratan, Buyan, and Tamblingan or referred to as Tri ning Danu, based on tourism capital. This study was conducted considering the research about the lake-based tourism is still very limited, especially in Indonesia. The analysis was carried out using the model of the Tourist Area Life Cycle (TALC) introduced by Butler and the conception of tourism capital inspired by Bourdieu. The integration of both produces a profile of the position or stage of Tri ning Danu tourist destination development more adequately. This approach is relatively new as a breakthrough effort to get rid of conventional reports on the destination developments that generally rely solely on TALC. It is expected that with the added of tourism capital variable will get a more comprehensive view of destination development stage. The results of the stage of Tri ning Danu tourist destination development based on the tourism capital, as follows: Consolidation Stage for Beratan Lake, Involvement Stage for Buyan Lake, and Exploration Stage for Tamblingan Lake.

Résumé :
Lake Toba is still surrounded by a stunningly lush environment and one of the biggest lakes in Asia and the world. Gradually, this tourist destination began to be recognized by the people of Indonesia and also the world. The tourist village located in Tuktuk Siadong Village is in an area of the peninsula of Lake Toba, in this tourist village you can find many hotels with various choices and always offer direct views of Lake Toba. This study aimed to describe the spatial development of Tuktuk Siadong Village in Samosir Regency based on tourist destination attributes such as tourist attractions and tourist characteristics. This study used a qualitative descriptive methodology to assess spatial development considering the attributes of popular tourist sites, including tourist attractions and visitor traits. The results showed that the spatial development in the study area was more spread out following the existing circulation path and following the traditional Batak development pattern which produces clusters and is unrelated to the major transportation channel. Tuktuk Siadong Village will become a tourist destination, with cultural tourism attractions from Huta Batak in sight. The landscape, which is a component of the spatial structure, must be preserved along with traditional settlements. The spatial development of the tourism area on Lake Toba can refer to the model that has been prepared so that it can make tourism on Lake Toba in a better and more sustainable direction. The presence of unique natural complexes and landscapes in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, creating the prerequisites for the development of the hospitality and tourism industry. A study of the current state and the competitive advantages of the region for the development of the tourism industry in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic have been identified. The study found that on the territory of the Republic there are currently 11 zones of potential recreational specialization with different levels of development, including the Nalchik health resort complex, the Prielbrusye mountain recreation complex, and the Jyly – health-improving complexes Su”, “Aushiger”, “Tambukan”, climbing complex “Bezengi”, excursion-tourist complexes “Chegem waterfalls”, “Blue Lakes”, “Valley of Narzanov”, archaeological and tourist complexes» Upper Balkaria” and “Upper Chegem”. There are 14 different types of mineral springs in the republic: iodine-bromine, nitrogen-thermal, hydrogen sulfide, sodium bicarbonate, and bromine compounds. In the tourist complex of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic in 2019, there is a positive trend in the number of beds, the number of persons accommodated, the number of tourist companies and the number of persons rested, and the number of visits to museums and theaters. Despite the positive dynamics of these indicators, there are negative aspects, characterized by a decrease in the number of children who had a rest in health camps for children, the number of Russian tourists sent by CBD travel agencies in the Russian Federation and in foreign tours, an imbalance between supply and demand (demand exceeds supply). The obtained results reveal an understanding of specific activities that ensure the economic growth of the tourism industry and the competitive advantages of the region. The results of the study can be applied in developing trends in the development of the tourism industry in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, in educational processes and in the tourism sector.

In 1820, three decades before Henry Rowe Schoolcraft would comment on the inabilities of tourists to experience the frontier without reference to European culture, he had accompanied a Gov. Lewis Cass expedition on the upper Great Lakes as mineralogist, traveling through the wilderness in acanot du maîtrepaddled by Indians andvoyageurs— while he read Johnson'sLives of the Poets. Although Schoolcraft's later relationship to Native cultures complicates any facile imperialist-other dichotomies, the Cass expedition to explore the lakes preparatory to securing more land cessions from the Indians was prophetic. When Schoolcraft returned to the East in 1841, by then a tourist attraction himself, 200,000 steamship and schooner passengers a season passed his post on Mackinac Island, crossing the upper lakes while bound for the settlements, prairies, and mineral– producing regions of the United States and Canada. Immigrants came via the Erie Canal; wealthy tourists booked passage to New Orleans, traveled up the Mississippi, and crossed to Chicago and thence through to Buffalo on palatial steamships (Ashworth, 10).

Abstract. The present paper arose from the publication of a new law on the promotion of tourism in Italy. It focuses on the image of the Lakes area in the Swiss– Italian border region–a traditional tourist area-as conveyed by the various regional tourist agencies through their information brochures and leaflets. The two «myths» appearing most frequently are the mediterranean character and the natural features of the region in question. The Swiss promotors also emphasize sports activities and the cultural heritage, two elements of the image which are particulary efficient components of the image. The analysis of the brochures and leaflets reveals that the different tourist agencies ought to coordinate their information activities more fully in order to create an integrated image of the region. This in turn could help to better exploit the tourist potential of the region.

Tourism is one of the sectors most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, impacting economies, livelihoods, public services and opportunities on all continents. International tourism has collapsed due to travel restrictions, closure of public places including major tourist attractions, and travel warnings of governments against travel and movement of people. Due to the impact of pandemic on travel freedom and tourists’ confidence, many destinations and governments have paid more focuses on domestic tourism and short haul nearby markets to ensure a recovery of tourism This research aims to explore the potential of domestic tourism as a means to revitalize the tourism industry from the perspectives of local tourism stakeholders. Interview data were collected and focused on domestic travel behavior, motivation, places of interest, travel preferences, and willingness to travel within Mongolia. Data were collected using structured, open-ended interview questions through key-informant interviews to twelve respondents from tourism stakeholders, nine from the local tour operators, and two from the tourist ger camp operators, and one from online tour agency. Data collection was carried in December 2021. The findings reveal that domestic tourism has the potential to revive and stabilize the tourism industry. A high percentage of respondents indicated that Mongolians have desire to travel domestically and being motivated by attractive natural scenery and resources for example, river, lakes, springs, and forest, as well as tour packages at discounted prices. COVID-19 has impacted tourist behavior and attitudes towards travelling, and people prefer to travel domestically rather than overseas. Furthermore, tourism stakeholders acknowledged the potential to revive the tourism industry via domestic tourism. Despite this, declarations of health, safety issues, flight availability, marketing communication methods, variety of tour activities, travel planning, and decision-making behaviors of Mongolians are key barriers to conducting domestic tourism in Mongolia.

The impacts of tourism and recreation on lake shores: A case study of the Olsztyn Lakeland The tourist attractiveness of many regions depends on the lakes. The lake ecosystems and the surrounding ecotone zone are among the most vulnerable systems, and tourism development negatively affects them. The aim of this study was to assess the load on the shore zone of the lakes of the Olsztyn Lake District by tourism and recreational infrastructure. The assessment was performed using two indicators. Topographic maps and orthophoto maps were used in the study. Land use and land cover (LU/LC) in the study area was verified through field studies in the summer seasons of 2018 and 2019. The tourism load indicators were positively correlated with the share of the built-up area in the lakeshore zone, although some lakes with a built-up shore zone of more than 25% did not have tourism and recreational facilities. The share of forests in the lakeshore zone was negatively correlated with the values of the tourism load indicators. Tourism infrastructure in the study area was developed in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The additional load on the lakeshore was found to be caused by private recreational infrastructure related to the settlement process in the lakeshore zone.

Résumé :
In 1845 Harriet Martineau experienced a rapid recovery from a debilitating but mysterious illness that had kept her house-bound for half a decade. She measured her increasing health by the miles she was able to walk, and rapidly found herself capable of considerable distances. Shortly after she moved to the Lake District. Here she set about consolidating her recovery and becoming acquainted with her new home by walking hundreds of miles across the whole area. These walks would be the basis for her guides to the Lakes, first a series of essays published in ‘A Year at Ambleside’ in 1850, then A Complete Guide to the English Lakes in 1855. This essay places Martineau's Lakeland guides in the broader context of nineteenth-century tourism, especially the picturesque guidebooks that recent scholarship has demonstrated both responded to and shaped the way visitors understood the area. Martineau's guides, unusual for being female-authored, offer, I argue, suggestive ways of further developing our understanding of the relationship between genre, place and literary authority during the mid-century Lakeland tourist boom.

Résumé :
The tourism sector in Pakistan has tremendous potential and is linked to some of the tallest mountains, lakes, and natural sceneries in the country, and it is a well-liked attraction for visitors from both inside and outside the nation. In addition to generating cash, tourism also helps to promote a particular country's culture; hence, it should be seen as an essential component of Pakistan's growth plan. The diversity of its cultures, civilizations, and customs has tragically prevented Pakistan from realising its full tourism potential. To become the most well-liked tourist destination in the world, Pakistan would have to overcome several difficulties in the tourism industry. This essay examines the difficulties the tourism industry faces using research from Pakistan. According to the report, Pakistan's security and counterterrorism issues have negatively impacted travel and tourism. But it is now generally acknowledged that Pakistan is transforming into a welcoming and secure environment for everyone. This essay also includes explanations of suggestions for the tourist industry.

Résumé :
The primary function of national parks (NPs) is nature conservation, but for the majority of them, tourism also plays an important role. Tourism generates significant incomes, but the benefits are often unequally distributed in space, as are the disadvantages. The karst regions are generally less developed terrains in terms of traditional livelihoods, but due to their special morphology, tourism offers great opportunities. Nonetheless, mass tourism can also pose increased environmental risks. In this article, we examine the above questions on the example of Krka NP, especially from the perspective of tourists, as we conducted a questionnaire survey with visitors. The results confirmed that there is a high degree of spatial inequality both in the awareness of attractions and the distribution of tourist accommodation. This fact has already been recognised by the management of the NP, and serious steps have already been taken to reduce inequality, but their impact is not yet significant enough. Based on the survey, tourism in Krka NP is determined by same-day visits. Tourists who come here primarily consider waterfalls, lakes and rivers to be the most important values of the landscape, while cultural values are considered less significant and even less known. Local products are virtually unknown in the NP palette, so this could be a direction for development. Another point that could be developed is the awareness of visitors in the field of karstification. As the survey was conducted during COVID period, its impact on tourism was also briefly examined. This impact was manifested in the fact that the proportion of retirees and tourist buses was very small, whereas the majority of visitors (90%) arrived in the NP as independent travellers. For one third of foreigners, COVID played a role in choosing Croatia as a destination. As for domestic tourists, two thirds chose to find a destination in Croatia because of COVID.

Résumé :
Abstract Lakes along with their surroundings are an attractive landscape component that play an important role in recreation and relaxation. In Poland, the Great Masurian Lakeland, visited by a million tourists every year, is considered to be the most attractive lake area. However, tourist pressure has several negative effects which cause degradation of the water environment. The aim of this study was to determine the trophic state of Lake Mikołajskie which is a hub for sailing and motorboating traffic. Values of the trophic status index were calculated from the content of total phosphorus, chlorophyll a and Secchi disc visibility, according to the data from the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. In summer, the concentration of total phosphorus was 0.019–0.042 mg dm−3 in 2013 and 0.022–0.055 mg dm−3 in 2014. The concentration of chlorophyll a was in the range of 8.3–45.0 μg dm−3 in 2013 and 8.9–22.0 μg dm−3 in 2014. The maximum visibility of Secchi disc reached 2.0 m (2013) and 1.8 m (2014). Based on the calculated, Lake Mikołajskie can be classified as a eutrophic lake. In order to protect lakes from degradation tourists should be educated about the rational use of surface waters and the surrounding catchment. However, it is not only the massive influx of tourists, but also the activity of residents (dictated by economic reasons) that contribute to the pollution of lakes. Therefore, the development of tourism and the economy of the whole region should be harmonious and balanced so that the natural resources can serve us and future generations for as long as possible.

Purba GYS, Haryono E, Sunarto, Manan J, Rumenta L, Purwanto, Becking LE. 2018. Jellyfish Lakes at Misool Islands, Raja Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 19: 172-182. Misool Islands, located in southern Raja Ampat in West Papua, has dozens of anchihaline lakes (marine lakes). Three of these lakes, Lenmakana, Karawapop, and Keramat, house populations of jellyfish. This study mapped and described the characteristics of the three ‘jellyfish lakes’ during field surveys in October 2015 and May 2016. The lakes ranged in area from 0.5−3.2 hectares. All three lakes harbored Mastigias papua, Lenmakana and Keramat lakes also harbored Aurelia sp., and Keramat had a third jellyfish species Cassiopea ornata. However, at Karawapop the jellyfish were not found on the water surface during the first round of field work because of effects associated with the El Niño phenomenon at that time. As a result of the El Niño effect, at Keramat, brown Mastigias became white in May 2016. The three lakes have different tidal delays (30−120 min) and dampened tidal amplitude (62%) compared to the sea. The benthos was found to be dominated by bivalves (Brachidontes sp.), algae (Cladophora sp., or Halimeda sp.) and sponges (predominantly Haliclona spp. and Tethya spp.). In addition, species of the family Synaptidae (Holothuroidea) were abundant and spread over almost all the bottom of Karawapop Lake, while tube-worms of the Polychaeta class were identified in Keramat Lake. Although these lakes are identified as a conservation area, currently there is no management activity in Lenmakana and Karawapop Lakes, despite the fact that the lakes are growing in popularity as a tourist site. Our paper provides the baseline data for future conservation efforts.

Résumé :
The article explains different approaches to the definition of the concept «tourist attraction». On the base of the analysis of different approaches, it is determined that tourist attraction is the property of a certain territory (city, district, region, zone, country, the group of countries) which meets the demand and needs of tourists. It was made clear that the level of tourist attractiveness is influenced by a number of factors, among which tourist resources and tourist infrastructure are important. According to the factors of influence, the components of tourist attractiveness are presented. It is determined that a number of methods and criteria are used to assess the attractiveness of territories and objects, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages. It is noted that the shortcomings of certain assessment methods can be minimized as the result of the introduction of certain reservations. It was made clear that in international practice tourist attractiveness is determined by the greatest demand among tourists in regions with rich natural, cultural and historical resources, geographical location, the level of infrastructure development which depends on investment, recreational and tourist resources, and environmental state of a region. It is proved that in Ukraine the territories and tourist zones which have the most valuable elements of the ecological framework (forests, clear rivers, sea coasts, lakes, ponds, etc.) and outstanding historical monuments and places are called tourist-attractive. It is generalized that the expediency and necessity of the quantitative assessment of tourist attractiveness at the level of a country, sphere or a certain region is explained by the identification of those areas whose development stimulation will lead to the possibility of obtaining a positive economic effect in the near future.
