Résumé :
After COVID-19, communication through online platforms has increased, leading to an accumulation of massive amounts of conversational text data. With the growing importance of summarizing this text data to extract meaningful information, there has been active research on deep learning-based abstractive summarization. However, conversational data, compared to structured texts like news articles, often contains missing or transformed information, necessitating consideration from multiple perspectives due to its unique characteristics. In particular, vocabulary omissions and unrelated expressions in the conversation can hinder effective summarization. Therefore, in this study, we restructured by considering the characteristics of Korean conversational data, fine-tuning a pre-trained text summarization model based on KoBART, and improved conversation data summary perfomance through a refining operation to remove redundant elements from the summary. By restructuring the sentences based on the order of utterances and extracting a central speaker, we combined methods to restructure the conversation around them. As a result, there was about a 4 point improvement in the Rouge-1 score. This study has demonstrated the significance of our conversation restructuring approach, which considers the characteristics of dialogue, in enhancing Korean conversation summarization performance.

Résumé :
Whilst most of the literature focusing on the Korean peninsula has concentrated on how to achieve unification through confidence-building measures, dialogues, negotiation and diplomacy, little attention has been paid to how a unified Korean identity, a core component of any potential reunification scheme could develop and be sustained. The paper addresses this gap by: (1) defining what national identity is, and how Korean identities have been formed, (2) outlining how both South and North Korea have understood and used the concept of national identity, (3) suggesting possible grounds on which the two Koreas could build a new, common national identity.

Résumé :
This study aims to assess the current state of human rights policies in North Korea, identify key areas for improvement, and suggest the significance of enhancing human rights in the country. Employing focus group interviews (FGI), I identified five policy categories and 20 specific issues, followed by an empirical hierarchical analysis (AHP) to ascertain their relative importance and priorities. The analysis ranked the policy categories as follows: human rights protection (31.8%), human rights diplomacy (24.8%), human rights system (19.5%), human rights capacity (16.1%), and human rights dialogue (7.8%). Regarding detailed policy priorities, the results revealed the most urgent to be petitioning the United Nations and assisting victims of North Korean human rights abuses (1st), effectively implementing North Korean human rights laws (2nd), maintaining the adoption of the UN Resolutions on North Korean Human Rights (3rd), securing protection measures for North Korean defectors in third countries (4th), and resolving issues related to separated families, abductees, and POWs (5th). From these findings, I propose several policy implications: (1) advocating for measurable and verifiable improvements in North Korea's human rights; (2) ensuring robust, effective, and consistent human rights engagement with North Korea; (3) normalizing the execution of North Korean human rights laws by addressing existing irregularities; (4) prioritizing societal consensus and agreement; and (5) stressing the necessity for human rights dialogues and technical cooperation with North Korea.

Résumé :
Computer communication via text messaging or Social Networking Services (SNS) has become increasingly popular. At this time, many studies are being conducted to analyze user information or opinions and recognize emotions by using a large amount of data. Currently, the methods for the emotion recognition of dialogues requires an analysis of emotion keywords or vocabulary, and dialogue data are mostly classified as a single emotion. Recently, datasets classified as multiple emotions have emerged, but most of them are composed of English datasets. For accurate emotion recognition, a method for recognizing various emotions in one sentence is required. In addition, multi-emotion recognition research in Korean dialogue datasets is also needed. Since dialogues are exchanges between speakers. One’s feelings may be changed by the words of others, and feelings, once generated, may last for a long period of time. Emotions are expressed not only through vocabulary, but also indirectly through dialogues. In order to improve the performance of emotion recognition, it is necessary to analyze Emotional Association in Dialogues (EAD) to effectively reflect various factors that induce emotions. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a more accurate emotion recognition method to overcome the limitations of single emotion recognition. We implement Intrinsic Emotion Recognition (IER) to understand the meaning of dialogue and recognize complex emotions. In addition, conversations are classified according to their characteristics, and the correlation between IER is analyzed to derive Emotional Association in Dialogues (EAD) and apply them. To verify the usefulness of the proposed technique, IER applied with EAD is tested and evaluated. This evaluation determined that Micro-F1 of the proposed method exhibited the best performance, with 74.8% accuracy. Using IER to assess the EAD proposed in this paper can improve the accuracy and performance of emotion recognition in dialogues.

Résumé :
Cooperation in natural disaster management between the two Koreas, so far, has been limited. In inter-Korean cooperation, dialogues and conflicts were repeated depending on the political and military situation on the Korean Peninsula. The purpose of this study is to address factors affecting the inter-Korean natural disaster management cooperation and to prepare a plan to improve the cooperative system. According to the analysis results of this study, North Korea's vulnerability to natural disasters has increased, but the natural disaster management system lacks response capacity. In terms of disaster cooperation factors, there was no permanent consultative body. The cooperation regulations were not clear, and the establishment of a mutual cooperation system such as information sharing was insufficient. In addition, a consumer-oriented approach that considers North Korea’s needs first has been not enough. Based on these analysis results, this study suggests the establishment of a border management committee between the two Koreas and a disaster management agreement.

Objectives This study aims to investigate the performance aspect of directive speech act and hedging sentence patterns for politeness according to power relations through the discourse analysis of the Business Korean textbooks and suggests the ways of improving Business Korean textbooks. Methods This study chose three kinds of Business Korean textbooks published after 2018. These textbooks are composed of basic levels and intermediate levels. To analyze these textbooks, this study classified subtypes of directive speech act at first and then arranged the performance aspect of directive speech act according to the context variables and the aspect of the use of hedging sentence patterns for politeness in directive speech act. Results Based on the findings of this study, Business Korean textbooks published after 2018 are mainly composed of dialogues related to boss’ directive speech act. For this reason, the textbooks mainly dealt with boss’ command among subtypes of directive speech act. And hedging sentence patterns of ‘-(으)세요’와 ‘아/어 주세요’ were most commonly utilized in boss’ command speech act. But, subordinate and coworkers’ dialogues and directive speech act in the workplace were very little descried in the textbooks. Various politeness strategies and hedging sentence patterns are seldom used in Business Korean textbooks. Conclusions In the future, Business Korean textbooks have to deal with various directive speech act dialogues according to the power relation. And they have to use various kinds of politeness strategies and hedging sentence patterns for Business Korean learners. But this study did not suggest educational methods for directive speech act. In short, how to deal with directive speech act in Business Korean textbooks will be discussed in a follow-up study.

Turner, James Lloyd. « Monstrous Dialogues : THE HOST and South Korean Inverted Exile ». Scholar Commons, 2012. http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/etd/4244.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
Bong Joon-ho‟s monster movie blockbuster, The Host (Gweomul, 2006), is the most commercially successful film in South Korean cinema history. The film‟s popularity and significance derive from its unearthing of the ambivalence concerning South Korea‟s rapid transformation from a rural dictatorship to an urban democracy with one of the strongest economies on the planet. This ambivalence is buried beneath a veneer of "progress" blanketing contemporary South Korea and constitutes a condition I call inverted exile. The Host explicitly engages life in inverted exile through my notion of aesthetic dialogue. Aesthetic dialogue, takes influence from the work of Mikhail Bakhtin and allows for proliferation of meaning beyond authorial intent by focusing on The Host‟s context. My approach focuses on genre, narrative, and style to flesh out the political, historical, and social ambivalences behind any given moment of The Host to put them in dialogue with one another. The project progresses through sites of cultural dialogue central to the film and/or life in inverted exile: the monster, the city, the home. I approach each site through the genres associated with them and gender roles each of them assume in inverted exile. South Korea‟s transformation and its relationship with the United States are causes of anxiety (e.g. loss of traditional values, overwhelming Western influence) and desire (political freedom, economic opportunity). Ultimately, I argue, The Host suggests that South Korea and its citizens need to embrace the ambivalences of inverted exile and actively shape an identity that takes an active and critical attitude towards Western influence. Such an attitude can better preserve the desirable aspects of traditional culture (e.g. traditional food, familial unity) and alleviate the anxieties caused by Western influence (e.g. rampant consumerism, unjust class divisions). The Host‟s dialogic form is integral to its shaping of Korean identity as it takes from multiple cultural sources (i.e. Hollywood and Korean history) without challenging their polarization.

Lee, Dong-Young. « Information-based processing of Korean dialogue with reference to English ». Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 1998. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/21355.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
This thesis shows that making use of contextual information coming from an utterance and keeping track of information flow between utterances in dialogue are indispensable to the processing of dialogue. In English, the phenomenon of honorification does not occur, an honorific pronoun does not exist, and a pronoun is used instead of omitting a whole constituent. On the other hand, in Korean dialogue, every utterance indicates whether or not honorification occurs. In addition, an honorific pronoun may be used and a constituent such as the subject NP or the object NP is omitted when it can be recovered by context. We claim that in order to process Korean dialogue properly, we must systematically use contextual information such as the social status information about all the individuals involved in dialogue and information about dialogue participants (that is, the speaker and the addressee of utterances). It is possible to incorporate contextual information in the framework of Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG) and thus we use that framework to deal with utterances occurring in dialogue. We construct the representation structure of dialogue by extending and modifying Discourse Representation Theory (DRT) and contextual information is included in the representation structure. We show that the occurrence of honorification is constrained by the relative order to the social status of the speaker, the addressee and the individuals mentioned in an utterance. We also show how to recover a missing constituent in an utterance, using both structural information and contextual information related to the utterance. When an honorific pronoun is used in a dialogue, we resolve it based on the information about social status obtained from the dialogue. We implement dialogue processing using Prolog. The utterances of a dialogue are processed by utilizing the Attribute Logic Engine (ALE) and grammar rules relevant to Korean. After an utterance is processed, the representation structure of the utterance is constructed on the basis of the pieces of information extracted from the processing result.

Rhie, Y. C. « Toward an authentic Korean biblical reading : shamanism and the Bible in dialogue ». Thesis, University of Sheffield, 2013. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/5494/.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
This thesis focuses on the binary opposition between Yahwistic prophecy and shamanistic practices and the coexistence of various religious professionals in the Bible - prophets, magicians and diviners - who continually challenge theological distinctions set by the central religious hierarchy. My research explores Korean shamanism: from its basic worldview to the characteristics of shamanic practitioners and rituals, and to its syncretism with other religions, in which compatibility with the Korean authentic spirituality is the key to the successful settlement of missionary religions. Various shamanic models are proposed to find resources for the parallel study between the biblical faiths and practices and Korean shamanism, such as: the spiritual calling of prophetic figures in the Bible and of Korean shamanic neophytes; the paradox of prophetic condemnation against magic and divination employed by ‘others’, when similar techniques are used by the Old Testament prophets as a sign of divine connection; and the rite of passage of prophetic and shamanic practitioners, as a bridge between the secular and the sacred. Through a close reading of the prophetic narratives, this thesis resists what appears to be the dominant voice in the interpretative tradition of the Bible in the Korean church - a polarity between a central or Christian religion and a popular or shamanic spirituality - and points out that the Bible itself is a rich depository of competing religious systems and models, with which Bible readers from various religious and cultural backgrounds can identify or compare in their own environments.

Résumé :
The objectives of this research are three in number: an understanding of Hick's religious pluralism and Newbigin's theology of religions; an exploration of the reason for their divergence; and a constructive suggestion for the recovery of mission anew, despite the challenge of religious pluralism. Hick's religious pluralism focuses on the Real-centredness based on religious experience and supported by its fruits. Newbigin's theology of religions focuses on Christ (or Trinitarian)-centredness based on confession. The main reason for their divergence is their different paradigms. Hick's was transformed into a religious pluralistic paradigm, while Newbigin's retained a particularistic (Christian) paradigm. Each one's paradigm was closely related to his faith (presupposition). Two constructive suggestions for the Korean Christian context are pointed out: biblical study and following the model of Jesus Christ. Biblical study, taking account of the Korean Christian context, has the hope that Christians will find a wider meaning of God in the Bible, while keeping their faith. Following the model of Jesus Christ emphasizes orthopraxis as well as orthodoxy. It means following Jesus, self-emptying and self-sacrifice for the sake of mission to people of other faiths.

Résumé :
The Jeong Gam’s Writings (鄭鑑錄, Jeong Gam nok) is a famous Korean prophecy book that appeared in the late Joseon period (1392–1897) yet gained its popularity by the end of the 19th century and is still well-known by most of Korean people. The main idea of the book is expressed through a dialogue mundap 問答 between two scholars: Jeong Gam (鄭鑑) and Yi Shim (李沁). It is not known whether they were real or imagined characters, or prototypes of any real historical figures. The Writings also include prophecies made by other scholars who lived earlier. There have been several texts written either in hanmun or in ǒnmun. In the Veritable Records of the Joseon dynasty (朝鮮王朝 實錄, Joseon wangjo sillok) it is first mentioned in 1782. The article is aimed to introduce the book to Russian audience focusing on its importance and its influence on the Korean history in the late 18th–19th century, namely mass uprisings.
