Résumé :
Justice after war is becoming an increasingly pressing concern. The cases of Afghanistan, Iraq and most recently Libya illustrate the importance of as well as the difficulties involved in the efforts to manage the outcome of armed conflict in a constructive way. The jus post bellum is meant to serve as the normative framework for the efforts to stabilise the post-conflict situation. The jus post bellum also has the future peaceful and arguably democratic and human rights respecting development of the post-conflict society in view. This article aims at drawing the conceptual and substantive contours of the jus post bellum and to discuss its relationship with other parts of international law, primarily the other bodies of law making up the law of armed conflict. Depending on one’s perspective the jus post bellum can be claimed not yet to exist, to exist already or irrespective of which to be superfluous as a separate category of law. The article recognises the apparent need for a comprehensive post-conflict law to serve as a bridge between war and stable peace. What way the international community should take in order to arrive at a just and useful normative framework for building peace is far from certain, however.

Résumé :
This paper serves three purposes. First, it examines the theme of jus post bellum (“postwar justice”) as it emerges within a just peacemaking (JP) framework. Second, it defines just political participation as civil society peacebuilding reflected in Catholic social thought (CST). Third, it envisions a place for just political participation within the jus post bellum praxis specifically endorsed by the World Bank report of 2007, titled Civil Society and Peacebuilding: Potential, Limitations and Critical Factors. The paper then attends to the Church and faith-based organizations and their roles in civil society peacebuilding postbellum. In doing so, it clarifies the characteristics of jus post bellum within a JP scheme by (a) distinguishing them from the just war approach, (b) identifying JP-oriented jus post bellum thinkers such as Daniel Philpott and Larry May, and (c) incorporating civil society peacebuilding endorsed by both the World Bank report and CST.

Résumé :
This actuality article on leadership argues for the need to move towards a just economic society. The implications of different terms are considered within a conceptual framework. This framework is essential for a better understanding of economic justice in an institutional environment, where economic relationships and economic justice has come to dominate public debate. The relations between public opinion and material wealth are analysed before justice in a mixed economy receives attention. Related conditions are discussed in succession, firstly, individual freedom and the Rule of Law, and secondly, distributive justice. The article then proceeds to discuss challenges for economic leadership in South Africa, indicating trends present in both the theoretical and political leadership current in the rest of the world. Perspective is thereby given on the situation in South African democracy, where the political focus has moved from the issue of justice as freedom, to justice in the distribution of wealth and income.

Résumé :
Abstract This Article challenges Hanoch Dagan and Michael Heller’s choice theory of contract, according to which contract law is autonomy-enhancing. I make three points: first, the choice theory of contract cannot clarify the critical normative distinction between enforceable formal contracts and unenforceable informal promises. Second, I develop the roads/contract-types analogy: instead of promoting individuals’ autonomy and enhancing their choice among different projects, most contract types are justified by the preexisting preferences of citizens. Finally, I outline a teleological justification of contract law that is different from that propounded by Dagan and Heller. On this view, contract law should remain neutral as to which conception of the good is commendable and provide individuals with the means of shaping and pursuing a conception of a good life.

Résumé :
At the beginning of the third century, liberalism was the preferred philosophy. It is not easy to define any political party, as with conservatism. Liberal ideology dates back to the end of the seventeenth century when the political turbulence of England's middle civil wars left the nation in a state of great social upheaval. Following this, the nineteenth century is explored, and significant ideas of ‘classical' and ‘New' liberalism are described. Before the First World War, the limits of British liberalism were already apparent, and its decline was virtually total throughout the interwar period. In light of the demise of Soviet communism in the late 1980s and the subsequent rise of liberal capitalist democracy, we review the rebirth of liberalism. An investigation of some of the current failings of liberalism is conducted, and the authors predict the fate of liberalism.

Résumé :
The purpose of the present article is to identify and build a system of individual needs that promote an individual’s taking the path of terrorist activity, and to consider the process of its functioning under the destructive influences of the external and internal environment. The research methodology is based on a retrospective analysis of individual needs and socio-psychological characteristics of terrorist organizations' fighters. The system-integrated holistic approach allowed substantiating the content of the economic, political, social, and spiritual subsystems of the integral balanced system of individual needs. The focus on a systematic reflection of the research object and subject in the context of analyzing the objective reality of contemporary terrorism made it possible to reveal the relationships of the identified needs and, based on the results obtained, uncover the process of reengineering the system of individual needs into a hierarchy of needs which lead to taking the antisocial path of terrorism. The main research results include structured subsystem of the integrated system of individual’s needs, the content of needs, their components, promoting the individual to joining terrorist activities, as well as the construction of mathematical model describing the operation of the system of individual’s needs, and identifying quantitative values of the median needs, bringing the individual into a terrorist organization.

Abstract This paper seeks to show how male politicians can draw on performances of masculinity to appeal to voters. The paper uses former UK Prime Minister David Cameron as an example of how performances of masculinity interact with the opportunistic use of populist forms of political engagement. It argues that while Cameron’s performances of populism are often situated in compatible policy initiatives such as the “big society”, we can also identify a more sustained deployment of masculine discourse in “performances” of alignment with the people. This paper shows how these gendered performances of political leaders mirror changes in society, while exploring how they can also be politically hazardous. Whilst the “new man” might appeal to Western voters, this paper shows how Cameron draws on this performance of masculinity in his first term as UK prime minister; at the same time, showing the limits to such appeal in an age of austerity.

Résumé :
Abstract This article examines the methods and strategies introduced by the Qur’an for establishing a just society. More specifically, it argues that the opening verse of Surat al-Nisa (the fourth chapter of the Qur’an) serves as a roadmap for humanity on how to achieve true peace, establish authentic justice and maintain sustainable security in every aspect of life. In doing so, the article addresses the following questions: What does the Qur’an mean when it states that humanity is one family? What should be done to affirm every person’s dignity and respect is preserved? How can we secure justice and establish peace for all people? What are the measures that should be considered to evaluate our success or failure strategies? The article engages with these critical issues through the lens of the Quran, applying the methodology of reading the Qur’an intratextually as one structural unity (al-wihda al-binaʾiyya lil-Qur’an). This holistic method reads the Qur’an as a unified text by cross-examining and integrating its linguistic, structural, and conceptual elements. The article highlights the Qur’anic model to prevent injustice and promote peace through justice and mercy by being individually accountable to each other.

Résumé :
It seems to be almost a given of contemporary Anglo-American political philosophy that the just society is obligated to establish and ensure the equality of its members. Debate begins when we come to delineate the forms and limits of the equality society is obligated to underwrite. In this essay I offer the subversive suggestion that equality is not something the just society should aim for. Instead I offer another objective, one which is to be preferred both because it is more attainable and because it is morally more defensible than equality, either as an ideal or as an operative principle. The demand for equality of treatment, of opportunity, or of outcome, is a distraction from morally more significant aims.

Abstract Matteo Bonotti’s book on Partisanship and Public Reason in Diverse Societies is grounded on a theory of partisanship that sees the demands of public reason as internal to the very definition of a party. Bonotti suggests that partisanship is not only compatible with but essential to the stability and legitimacy of a well-ordered liberal society. My paper aims to raise some questions internal to the liberal account of partisanship so as to probe the methodological foundations and plausibility of the liberal framework taken as a whole. My argument is that the assumption of a sufficiently just liberal society on which the book grounds its defence of partisanship makes us ill-equipped to face some of the most critical challenges that liberal societies face in the world that we live.

The purpose of this research is to find out what are the antecedents and consequences of organizational ethics in the era of Society 5.0 so that they can assist practitioners in making decisions and academics in conducting research related to organizational ethics. This study used a systematic literature review method of 6 articles from the Scopus database relevant to the research problem's formulation. The results show that two factors can influence ethical organizational existence in the era of Society 5.0 i.e. transformational leadership and servant leadership. Meanwhile, the impact of ethical organizational in the organizational system includes moral agency, promotion focus, authentic leadership, work-related stress, employee well-being, creating an ethical organizational, unethical behavior, and job satisfaction. However, this research is still limited to one database and many other things are important to research. So the researcher suggests further research. Résumé :
The radical transformation of Chinese society in the previous decades has greatly improved the material lives of most people, but has also led to skyrocketing levels of inequality, and has subjected Chinese youths to unprecedented levels of socio-economic competition. Helping them to succeed in this competitive world necessitates both care and control from their families. This is evident in their scholarly education, but also in the pressure they receive to marry early and well. Both the pressure on their education and on their path towards marriage is imposed on them in the name of support. While many analyses of this situation tie it predominantly to a Confucian ethos imbued into Chinese culture, this article suggests an alternative way to analyze this situation: The revolutionary opposition to inherited privilege paradoxically transformed higher education and marriage into ultra-competitive open markets. Rather than imputing a culturally bounded explanation for this phenomenon, I maintain that the authoritarian-caring parenting style observable in present-day China reflects a situation which finds parallels in other late post-revolutionary societies: the intensification of the educational pressure put on the haves in order to distinguish themselves from the have-nots.

Résumé :
In this article we examine Okin’s ideal of a ‘gender-free society’ and its relations to central educational values and practices. We suggest that this ideal pervades her work on the family, culture and, more recently, her focus on the developing world, and gives her liberal feminist stance its radical bite. We contrast this ideal with the more standard notion of gender-neutrality (non-discrimination) and argue that Okin’s more demanding concept (going beyond equal access to positions, benefits and opportunities as currently defined, to insist on the critical overhauling of the systems that determine them) far better accords with requirements of justice. We then go on to explore the contribution to a ‘gender-free society’ of construing women’s rights as human rights which Okin saw as crucial to countering threats against gender equality from competing claims of both multiculturalists and economic development theorists. We consider implications for education (including schooling) arising from the commitment to bring about a ‘gender-free society’.
