Résumé :
ABSTRACT Background: The quality of sleep in elderly tend to decline. This occurs as a result of certain changes such as physical, biological, mental and socio-economic. The quality of sleep may influence the healthcondition for short or long terms. Poor quality of sleep may cause difficulty in concentrating, slow response, memory disturbance and decrease of performance in daily life. The decline of sleep qualitymay be resolved with Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation (JPMR) exercise. Objective: To analyze the effect of Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation on sleep quality inelderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. Methods: This study is a pre experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design. The subject ofthis study were the 19 elderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. In this study, JPMR exercise was done in5 days. Sleep quality before and after JPMR exercise was measured using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) questionnair. The data obtained was analyzed using McNemar test. Results: From a total of 19 subjects, 3 subjects had good sleep quality while 16 subjecst had poor sleepquality. On the other hand, after the JPMR excercise, improved sleep qualiy was found in the 16 subjectswhile the 3 subjects still had poor sleep quality; bivariate analysis p value = 0.002 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation (JPMR) has a significant effect on sleepquality in elderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. Abstract: Background: The term AIDS refers only to the last stage of the HIV infection. AIDS can be called as our modern pandemic affecting both industrialized and developing countries. Objectives: To assess the anxiety and depression among people living with HIV as measured by HADS (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), to determine the effectiveness of JPMR in terms of reduction in the mean posttest anxiety and depression scores, to find the association of anxiety and depression among people living with HIV with selected demographic and disease specific variables. Materials and Methods: one group pre test and post test design was used. 30 people living with HIV who were admitted at ART center, District Hospital, Udupi were selected and different scales on anxiety and depression scale for people living with HIV were administered. Purposive sampling technique was used for the study. Results: Out of 30 subjects, 13.30% (4) experienced abnormal anxiety and 16.7% (5) abnormal depression. There was significance difference between mean difference of pretest and post test scores of anxiety (t=8.471, df=29, p=0.001) and depression (t=6.811, df=29, p=0.001). Anxiety is independent of the selected variables (Demographic and disease specific). Depression is dependent on previous history of psychiatric illness (÷2=6.584, df =2, p=0.037). Conclusion: JPMR is a simple non-invasive, cost effective method. The result showed that JPMR training had a positive effect in reducing the anxiety and depression and JPMR can be used as an effective alternative therapy.

Résumé :
Introduction: In the last few decades, the prevalence of hypertension has been drastically increased in India. Hypertension is defined by the presence of a chronic elevation of systemic arterial pressure above a certain threshold value. Proper management of hypertension may require both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Aerobic exercise and Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular relaxation (JPMR) technique both are Non-pharmacological interventions for reducing blood pressure. Method: Interventional study was done by Random sampling method and conducted on 20 hypertensive subjects. Subject willing to participate, age group 20-55 year both male and female and blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg were included. Subjects not able to understand, psychologically unstable, systemic illness and subject who were not regularly taking medications were excluded. 20 hypertensive subjects, randomly divided into 2 groups. The first group was asked to do 5 sessions of Aerobic exercise for 30-45 minutes per week for 4 week and the second group was asked to do 5 sessions of JPMR for 30 minutes per week for 4 week. In both the groups pre and post systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and heart rate (HR) were measured in sitting position. Subjective results were established. Results: Statistical analysis was done using SPSS16. There was statistically significant difference between pre and post value of SBP (p<0.05), DBP (p<0.05) in both groups, but the aerobic exercise showed more significant results as compared to the JPMR. Conclusion: Hence it can be concluded that Aerobic Exercise is more effective in hypertensive than Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular relaxation technique. Résumé :
ABSTRACT Background: Previously, both psychological and yogic relaxation techniques have shown a reduction in anxiety and also an improvement in cognition and mental health. In authors’ knowledge, no study has been conducted to assess the immediate effects of the Jacobson Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) on attention and psychological states. Hence, the aim of the present study was to assess the immediate effects of the JPMR and listening to Om Chanting on the attention and psychological states, i.e,., (i) happiness, (ii) anger, (iii) emotional stability, and (iv) positivity among university students. Design: The research design used in this study is a randomized controlled design. Materials and Methods: In the present study, 90 university students with ages 1823 years (mean ± standard deviation: 21.5 ± 2.3 years) were randomized into three intervention groups, i.e,. JPMR, listening to Om Chanting and quiet sitting (QS) as a control group. The time duration for each intervention was 20 min. Each participant was assessed for (a) attention using six-letter cancellation test and (b) psychological states, i.e,. (i) happiness, (ii) anger, (iii) emotional stability, and (iv) positivity using the Visual Analog Scale, before and after all three interventions. Paired t-test was performed to compare before and after values of each variable of the participants. Results: Twenty-minute practice of JPMR improved psychological states such as (i) happiness (p < 0.05), (ii) emotional stability (p < 0.05), and (iii) positivity (p < 0.01). In addition, both attention and anger levels were reduced after 20 min of listening to Om Chanting (p < 0.01, respectively). In addition, QS reduced the attention level of the participants (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Findings of the present study suggest that the 20 min of practice of progressive muscle relaxation techniques as a psychological relaxation technique improves psychological states such as the levels of happiness, emotional stability, and positivity whereas 20 min of listening to Om Chanting showed a reduction in the scores of anger and attention.

This thesis compares the four Intermediate Service Colleges (ISC) and the Defense Intelligence College (DIC) Phase I Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) curricula and student and faculty mixes. It asks the question, 'Is it feasible to offer a Phase I JPME curriculum at the Naval Postgraduate School?' The results clearly show that a Phase I JPME program is feasible if established within the National Security Affairs/Intelligence (NSA/I) and the Joint Command, Control and Communications (C3) curricula. In these curricula, the student and faculty mixes can be easily attained and the curriculum can be established with minimum disruption to the graduate education mission of the Naval Postgraduate School. Additionally, with six core courses established as Phase I JPME, students from other curricula may be tracked into Phase I by detailers on a case-by-case basis. Ultimately, this would increase the number of Navy Phase I JPME graduates by 69 percent. These graduates would then be available for Phase II and further on Joint Duty Assignments (JDAs)

Résumé :
This dissertation treats the subject of temporality in Ovid’s exile poetry. I argue that the post-exile texts feature a systematic distortion of time that cannot be conveyed by conventional chronometry. I read this phenomenon as a testament to the condition of the displaced person: the trauma of exile fosters a dissonance between interior (subjective) and exterior (objective) temporality, whereby time becomes stagnant, retrospective, or compulsively circular. The object of this thesis is to chart the evolution of this relationship between dual temporal schemata—and the schism in representations of time that occurs between Ovid’s pre- and post-exilic works. The distinct temporal aesthetic that emerges is a constitutive element of a textual portrait of exilic consciousness. This unique temporality, moreover, is consistently defined against the temporal prescriptions of the Augustan regime. The ordering of the Augustan subject’s existence through temporal regulations—such as the Caesarian calendar and the myth-enshrined teleology of the Julian imperial line—codified imperial ideology. Although Ovid was, in one sense, a prime participant in this program as author of the Metamorphoses and Fasti, much of Ovid’s elegy ran afoul of Augustan moral codes due to its erotic content and celebration of an individualistic ethos, the emblems of which—such as inborn poetic ingenium and the private and subjective experience of the individual—feature so prominently in his poetry. In the context of Augustan-age incursions of public mores into private life, Ovid put himself at odds with the Augustan value system in his art and actions, which likely occasioned (or was a catalyst for) his exile. He thus had a vested interest in (i) resisting the dominant teleology of the Augustan regime and the self-legitimating semiotic system of which it was a part and (ii) mounting opprobrium against the regime that ousted him. The poet’s alternative vistas of temporality militate against the Augustan program by (a) reclaiming time as a subjective experience that cannot be delimited by the parameters of an official time scheme, and (b) evacuating Augustan time of its meaning within the fictional world of the poetry, thereby exposing it as a socially-constructed, rather than an absolute, reality.

This chapter is comprised of two parts: part one offers an overview of the directors’ work and career. It also provides a critical analysis and chronological examination of their films while describing the artistic trajectory of JPR and JRGdM’s collaborations, focusing on their obsessions and themes. Particular attention is given to the cultural, industry and production contexts of the filmmakers and their work, along with their importance within the history of Portuguese Cinema. The introduction tackles issues such as the role of the directors as national and international auteurs that bring a unique artistic contribution, placing them within the film world-system. JPR and JRGdM’s work is exhibited in (inter)national theatres, specialized film festivals, university showcases, museums and others, proof that they occupy a relevant role in different creative spaces. Part two is a presentation of the volume’s structure, which is divided into four sections: 1) Queer (Dis)Placements, Exquisite Bodies; 2) Cinematic Landscapes and Territories; 3) Artistic Practices, and 4) Interview.

Résumé :
This chapter examines João Pedro Rodrigues’ and João Rui Guerra da Mata’s take on expanded cinema, evaluating the significance of experimenting with technology, classic narrative, and performance within the cinematic event (Hatfield, 2004) in the context of their oeuvre. Since 2011, JPR and JRGdM have been (re)creating diegetic worlds through video installations that communicate – in different ways – with their own cinematic world. For instance, in Today is a Party Day (2016) nine screens, displayed in three rows of three TV screens each, exhibit in loop the rushes for JPR’s short Parabéns! (Happy Birthday, 1997). By focusing on the relation between experimental and “classical narrative” cinema in this context, the chapter addresses issues such as the notion of filmic reality, cinematic apparatus, and audience’s perception. It also assesses the reconfiguration of diegetic time and space within this recent self-exploration in JPR’ and JRGdM’s eclectic cinephile universe, especially by looking at the video installations included in From the Pearl River to the River Ave, Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery’s 2018 exhibition (Portugal).

Résumé :
A landmark work published by the Urban Institute defines the difference between output, outcome, and efficiency measures: “Outcome measures: assess service quality and service results, primarily from the citizen's and service user's point of view.” “Output measures: counts of physical products of service, such as number of lane-miles paved or number of police (or fire) calls answered.” “Efficiency measures: ratios of amount of input to the amount of product produced with that input. Traditionally, the indicator has been expressed as the ratio of cost to amount of output (for example, cost per lane-miles paved).” “These other measures can be quite helpful in managing resources and tracking workload and productivity (author's note: which is “production rate” as it is used in JPM). In general, they use data that are easier to obtain than data for outcome measure. However, such measures tell citizens and government officials nothing about the effectiveness and quality of services provided; outcome measures do this [1].”

Résumé :
The joint probabilistic models (JPM) of the environmental parameters of wave, wind and current are nowadays extremely needed in order to perform reliability analyses of offshore structures. These JPM are also essential steps for the design of offshore structures based on long-term statistics and to perform dynamic response analysis of floating units that are strongly dependent on the directionality of the environmental actions, such as turret-moored FPSOs. Recently, some JPM have been proposed in the literature to represent the joint statistics of a reduced number of environmental parameters. However, it is difficult to find a practical and fully operational model taking into account the complete statistical dependence among all the environmental parameters intensities and their correspondent directions. In this paper, it is presented a straightforward methodology, based on the Nataf transformation, to create a JPM of the environmental parameters taking into account the dependence between the intensity and direction of all variables. The proposed model considers the statistical dependence of ten short-term variables: the significant wave height, peak period and direction of the sea waves, the significant wave height, peak period and direction of the swell waves, the amplitude and direction of the 1-h wind velocity and, finally, the amplitude and direction of the surface current velocity. The statistical dependence between them is evaluated using concepts of linear-linear, linear-circular and circular-circular variables correlation. Some results of the proposed JPM methodology are presented based on simultaneous environmental data gathered in a location offshore Brazil.

Résumé :
Abstract In the Japan Power Demonstration Reactor (JPDR) decommissioning project, the procedure for clean-up activities was specially studied for harmonization with radioactive waste treatment policy in Japan; it consisted of several components such as survey of the facility operational history, radiological characterization of building surfaces, decontamination and final survey of radioactivities. After confirming that there was no significant radioactivity in the facilities in the final step of the procedure, buildings were demolished in consideration of treatment of wastes as non-radioactive materials. The JPDR decommissioning project was completed by March 1996 with no serious problems, which showed that the procedure was rational, and that the experiences are useful for planning of future decommissioning activities. The dismantling and clean-up activities were reviewed, and the experiences are excepted to contribute to establishing standard and regulatory systems on decommissioning nuclear facilities.

Résumé :
In the Fugen nuclear power plant (FUGEN), the dismantling of equipments in the turbine building has started in 2008, and the dismantling of equipments around the reactor is scheduled around in 2015. To evaluate the management data on this dismantling of equipments around reactor appropriately, it is very important to study whether the conventional evaluation models have the applicability for FUGEN or not. Thus, the management data on the dismantling of equipments in 3rd/4th feedwater heater room conducted in 2008 was calculated with the conventional evaluation models. The conventional evaluation models were made by data obtained from Japan Power Demonstration Reactor (JPDR) decommissioning program. It was found that there were large differences between the calculated values and the actual data. For finding the cause in the difference between them, the dismantling of equipments in 3rd/4th feedwater heater room was divided into three processes: i) the preparation process, ii) the dismantling process, and iii) the clean-up process. In the both process of preparation and clean-up, the calculated values were smaller than the actual data. These were mostly caused by the plant scale difference between JPDR and FUGEN, because the conventional evaluation models were built by analyzing the actual data on the decommissioning of JPDR which is smaller than FUGEN. The primary expression depending on the area of working space was built as new evaluation models for the preparation and clean-up processes. In the dismantling process, on the other hand, it was found that there were characteristic differences in the dismantling of feedwater heater as follows: 1) the calculated values were significantly larger than the actual data, 2) the actual data for the dismantling of 3rd feedwater heater was larger than that of 4th one, though these equipments were almost same weight. It was found that these were brought by the difference in the descriptions of dismantling of feedwater heaters, and the new evaluation models reflecting the descriptions of dismantling were built for the appropriate evaluation of the management data. The calculated values with the new evaluation models for each process showed the good agreement with the actual data. In this report, study on evaluation models of management data for dismantling of equipments in the feedwater heater room will be described.

Résumé :
This paper describes our Java Performance Monitoring Toolkit (JPMT), which is developed for detailed analysis of the behavior and performance of Java applications. JPMT represents internal execution behavior of Java applications by event traces, where each event represents the occurrence of some activity, such as thread creation, method invocation, and locking contention. JPMT supports event filtering during and after application execution. Each event is annotated by high-resolution performance attributes, e.g., duration of locking contention and CPU time usage by method invocations. JPMT is an open toolkit, its event trace API can be used to develop custom performance analysis applications. JPMT comes with an event trace visualizer and a command-line event trace query tool for scripting purposes. The instrumentation required for monitoring the application is added transparently to the user during run-time. Overhead is minimized by only instrumenting for events the user is interested in and by careful implementation of the instrumentation itself.
