Résumé :

This article is representative of the “culturalist” school of thought inpolitical science. Using a paradigm coined by Foucault, numerous facesof power in the international knowledge order are explored. Startingfrom the assumption that the burden of “cultural gate-keeping’’ restsheavily upon UNESCO’s shoulder, it is analyzed whether ISESCOcan count as a counter-power. Once the flaws of the comparativeframework that posits ISESCO as a “second UNESCO’ are shown,an Islamic methodology is used in order to see whether this Islamiccultural institution represents Islam or simulates it. Such an inquiryrequires a discursive analysis of two institutions that share a commoncultural goal using either the framework of internationalism or that ofthe Ummah.

Résumé :

ISESCO Educational Centre in Malaysia (ISESCO Malaysia), in collaboration with the Islamic Education Department of Ministry of Education, Malaysia, offers various annual language activities to improve the level of Arabic language usage among secondary school students in Malaysia. One of the languages activities organised by ISESCO Malaysia annually, is an Arabic Short Film Competition. It is noticeable that there are variety of Arabic language usage errors appeared in the videos presented, including those resulting from language interference effect. Some of these errors are often repeated by students, believing that it is a sound of Arabic language. This study therefore, conducted to examine the errors of language interference effect and its causes among Arabic learners in Malaysia’s secondary school. The study has followed the descriptive approach to analyse these errors. The study found that linguistic errors among Arabic students in Malaysian secondary schools resulted from language interference effect of their mother tongue; by literally translating it, following the culture and rules, as well as lack of knowledge of the rules of the language and culture of the Arabic language. This study proposed an appropriate action to solve the problems using educational approach.

abstract: The southern Appalachian region is a hotspot of ecological biodiversity that is under increasing threat from climate change and rapid population growth. We posit that informal science education is uniquely adapted to foster environmental stewardship in the region, but the current state of informal science education within the southern Appalachians is poorly understood. We reviewed current informal science education centers (ISECs), which we define as centers for science learning outside of structured curriculum ( n = 166). For each of these centers, we compiled information on geographical location, programs offered, and funding sources. We found large geographic gaps in ISEC coverage that often aligned with low-population, low-income counties. The most common program type in our dataset was field trips, followed by public programming, while research and virtual programming were the least often offered. ISECs that had funding from multiple organizations generally had the most diverse and robust programming.

Cette thèse retrace l'histoire du projet éditorial "Différents aspects de la culture islamique" (1977-2016) de l'UNESCO. Il est question d'analyser l'investissement des organisations arabes et islamiques dans les programmes de sciences humaines et sociales de l'UNESCO, à partir d'une étude de cas. Au milieu des années 1970, l'histoire de l'islam et des musulmans se révèle être un enjeu de soft power pour des autorités religieuses et politiques en quête de leadership islamique mondial. Des controverses académiques voient le jour et un rapport de force s'installe entre intellectuels musulmans libéraux et intégraux aux prises avec des logiques d'influence idéologique régionale. Comment écrire une histoire scientifique de l'Islam prenant en compte la reconnaissance culturelle, l'urgence de la question raciale, la lutte contre les préjugés sur l'islam et les musulmans et le respect des croyances religieuses? Les années 1980 marquent une nouvelle étape. La Conférence Générale de l'UNESCO reconnait pour la première fois la religion comme une composante à part entière de l'identité culturelle. L'OCI-ISESCO s'imposent dès lors comme les organisations de la Troisième voie et mettent fin à la pluralisation et la concurrence des acteurs. S'ouvrent alors deux décennies de plan de normalisation culturelle islamique à l'UNESCO, dans un contexte international marqué par le terrorisme islamique et l'ouverture au dialogue interculturel et religieux
This thesis traces the history of UNESCO's editorial project "The Different Aspects of Islamic Culture" (1977-2016). It aims to analyze the investment of Arab and Islamic organizations in UNESCO's human and social sciences programs from a case study. In the mid-1970s, the history of Islam and Muslims became a soft power issue for religious and political authorities seeking global Islamic leadership. Academic controversies emerged between liberal and integral Muslim intellectuals struggling with logics of regional ideological influence. How to write a scientific history of Islam considering cultural recognition, the urgency of the racial issue, the fight against prejudices about Islam and Muslims, and respect for religious beliefs?The 1980s opened a new stage. For the first time, the UNESCO General Conference recognizes religion as an integral component of cultural identity. The OIC-ISESCO stands out as the Third Way organizations and puts an end to the pluralization and competition of actors. It's the beginning of two decades of Islamic cultural normalization at UNESCO in a global context marked by Islamic terrorism, and openness to intercultural and religious dialogue

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The aim of the study is to examine the phenomenon of politeness in isiXhosa discourse within the speech acts of apology and complaint. Politeness is evidenced where nonverbal and verbal actions work together for the purpose of achieving smooth communication among speakers. The actions that occur through discourse are called speech acts. The most important aim of the speech act of apology is to maintain a good relationship among speakers. This study focusses specifically on the speech act of apology and the manner in which Xhosa speakers forward apologies and complaints among themsleves. Politeness theory will be used as a basis of this study. In this study, the main focuss is on how the male and female students forward complaints and apologies. It is discovered that, there are different ways of expressing apologies and complaints in isiXhosa in different situations, and the different ways in which males and females students forward apologies among themselves. For instance, in space situation, males forwarded more apologies as they occupied more space than females. In time situation, females forward more apologies as they were lacking more in time management than males do. According to Trosborg (1995) there are several ways or strategies of apology, which are as follows: The opting out-catergory; minimizing the degree of offence; indirect apologies; explanation or account; promise of forbearance and the offer of repair. It has been discovered firstly in this study, that females used more apology strategies than males. Secondly, four main apology strategies: request for forgiveness; explicit explanation; offer of apology and the expression of lack of intent have been extensively used by both males and females in the empirical data examined. Trosborg (1995) mentions eight complaints strategies, namely: hints; annoyance; ill consequences; direct complaints; indirect complaints; modified blame (behavior) and an explicit blame (person). Females used more complaint strategies than males. Five complaint strategies: direct complaint; annoyance; ill consequences; indirect complaint and the modified blame have been extensively used by both males and females. This study helps us to understand the different ways of expressing apologies and complaints in different situations in isiXhosa. The more appropriate apology and complaint is used, the better the communication. This becomes evident in the manner in which males and females forwarded apology and complaint strategies in the discourse analysed in this study.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die doel van hierdie studie is om die verskynsel van beleefdheid in isiXhosa te ondersoek binne die uitvoering van die spraakhandelinge van verskoning en klagte. Beleefdheid word aangedui wanneer nie-verbale en verbale aksies saam van belang is vir die bereiking van doeltreffende kommunikasie tussen sprekers. Die handelinge wat plaasvind deur diskoers word spraakhandelinge genoem. Die belangrikste oogmerk van die spraakhandeling van verskoning is om goeie verhoudinge tussen sprekers te handhaaf. Hierdie studie fokus spesifiek op die spraakhandeling van verskoning en die wyse waarop Xhosasprekers verskonings en klagtes tussen mekaar uitruil. Beleefdheidsteorie sal as raamwerk gebruik word vir hierdie studie. Die studie gee ook aandag aan hoe vroulie en manlike studente verskonings uitruil. Dit word bevind dat daar verskillende wyses is waarop verskonings en klagtes in Xhosa uitgedruk word in verskillende situasies, en dat daar verskillende wyses is waarop manlike en vroulike studente verskonings uitruil. Trosborg (1995) noem agt klagte strategieë, naamlik skimpe, irritasie, sleg gevolge, direkte klagtes, indirekte klagtes, gewysigde blaam (t.o.v. gedrag), en eksplisiete blaam (t.o.v. 'n persoon). Die vroulike persone het meer klagte strategieë as manlike persone. Vyf klagtestrategieë, naamlik direkte klagte, irritasie, sleg gevolge, indirekte klagte, en die gewysigde blaam is uitgebreid gebruik deur sowel vroulike as manlike persone. Hierdie studie werp lig op die verskillende wyses van hoe verskonings in Xhosa uitgedruk word en klagtes in verskillende situasies. ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study aims at exploring speech acts. Actions via utterances are generally called speech acts. They are commonly given specific labels such as apology, compliment, - request, promise or warning etc. The usefulness of speech acts illustrates kinds of things we can do with words and identifying some of the conventional utterance forms we use to perform specific actions. This study examines speech act of complaints in a domestic context. According to Trosborg (1995) there are two different types of complaints. The direct complaint is when complainer diretly accuse the complainee of having committed the offence. The indirect complaint is when the complainer ask the hearer a question about the situation that she/he is in someway connected with the offence. This study illustrates how Xhosa people complain in a domestic context. Quationaires were distributed to the people of Kayamandi Township in Stellenbosch, Emgwali Location in Stutterheim and Kwalini Location in King William's Town. The focus was on Mothers and Fathers, Daughters and Sons, Brothers and Sisters. The family members complain to each other on different levels and according to their status. Trosborg (1995) has identified eight complaint strategies. The hint, annoyance, ill consequences, direct accusation, indirect accusation, modified blame, explicit condemnation of the accused's action and explicit condemnation of the accused as a person. The mother complains to the daughter more than when she is complaining to the son and the father. The father complains to the son more than when he complains to the daughter. The son and the daughter complain almost equaly to their parents. The daughter complains equaly as her sister. These members have some ways of responding to the complaints. Boxer (1991) has identified six types of responses to the indirect complaints. The question, the joke, contradiction, commisseration, lecture and advice. The father has used more strategies when responding to the mother. The mother has responded to the daughter more than when responding to the father and the son. the son and the daughter has responded almost equaly to their parents. The brother and the sister responded equaly to their parents. The examination of speech acts will help us understand how actions are carried out and interpreted wthin speech events and how more get communicated than is said. It has been established that speech acts of complaint in Xhosa playa crucial sociocultural role in our communities. This is being proved by the manner in which females and male have used the strategies in this data.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie het as doelstelling die ondersoek van spraakhandelinge in Xhosa. Handelinge wat uitgevoer word via uitings word spraakhandelinge genoem. Hierdie spraakhandelinge word oor die algemeen bepaalde benaminge gegee, soos verskoning, komplimentering, versoek, belofte, waarskuwing, ens. Die gebruik van spraakhandelinge illustreer die soort dinge wat mense met woorde kan doen, en identifiseer sommige van die konvensionele uiting vorme wat mense gebruik om spesifieke spraakhandelinge uit te voer. Hierdie studie ondersoek die spraakhandeling van klagte in huishoudelike konteks. Volgens Trosborg (1995) is daar twee verskillende tipes klagtes. Die direkte klagte behels dat die klaer die klagte-hoorder direk beskuldig van 'n oortreding. Die ondersoek na spraakhandelinge lewer 'n bydrae daartoe om te verstaan hoe handelinge uitgevoer word en geïnterpreteer word binne spraakhandelinge, en hoe meer gekommunikeer word as wat gesê word. Daar is vasgestel dat spraakhandelinge van klagte in Xhosa 'n wesenlike sosio-kulturele rol speel in gemeenskappe. Hierdie feit word bevestig deur onder andere die wyse waarop mans en vroue die strategieë gebruik het in hierdie studie

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study explores the speech act of refusal in educational contexts in isiXhosa. The speech utterance is used to accept or refuse request. The request can be made by a friend, parent, school principal etc. The authority of the one making request is very important because it makes the recipient of the request to think twice before he or she refuses. This is done by the fact that the recipient is afraid to damage the face of the requestor. Secondly, the rights that people have make it difficult for the person in authority to use his powers in a way that is not satisfactory, because people belong to unions that protect their rights. For instance, the teacher requests leave because he wants to go and make provisions for his son who is coming from the initiation school. In this regard, the principal is unable to refuse fully although the exams are around the corner. He has to use certain strategies in convincing the teacher about the importance of the forthcoming exams. In the Department of education there is a district director and his team, responsible for certain departments, the school inspectors, subject-advisors, school principals, teachers and students. Each and every one of the above-mentioned has a right to make request. Some of them resort into using politeness strategies when requesting or refusing to obey the request.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie ondersoek die spraakhandeling van weiering in opvoedkundige kontekste in isiXhosa. Die spraakuiting word gebruik om 'n versoek te aanvaar of te weier. Die versoek kan gemaak word deur 'n vriend, ouer, skoolhoof, ens. Die gesag van die persoon wat die versoek maak is baie belangrik, want dit veroorsaak dat die ontvanger van die versoek deeglik dink voordat hy/sy dit weier. Dit word veroorsaak deurdat die ontvanger van die versoek bang is om die gesig ('face') van die versoeker te beskadig. Die regte wat mense het, maak dit moeilik vir die persoon met gesag om sy/haar magte te gebruik op 'n wyse wat onbehoorlik is, want mense behoort aan vakbonde wat hulle regte beskerm. Byvoorbeeld, 'n onderwyser versoek verlof want hy wil voorsorg gaan maak vir sy seun wat terugkeer uit die inisiasieskool. In hierdie gval is die skoolhoof nie in staat om die versoek volledig te weier nie, alhoewel die eksamens binnekort geskryf sal word. Die skoolhoof gebruik sekere strategieë om die onderwyser te oortuig van die belangrikheid van die eksamens. In die Departement van Onderwys, is daar 'n distriksdirekteur en sy span, verantwoordelik vir sekere departemente, die skoolinspekteurs, vakadviseurs, skoolhoofde, onderwysers en leerders. Elkeen van die genoemde persone het die reg om versoeke te rig. Sommige persone maak gebruik van beleefdheidstrategieë in die weiering of reg van 'n versoek.

Résumé :

The global climate change affects the Arctic region the most. The decrease in arcticsea ice is one of the reasons why, it accelerates the warm-up of the region.To understand the changes in the Arctic climate, knowledge about what affects thechanges in the sea ice is necessary. One of these processes could be the relationbetween the extent of the sea ice and the concentration of sea salt aerosols in thearea.This work studies how a variation in the arctic sea ice extent affects theconcentration of sea salt aerosols at Barrow, Alaska. To do this aerosoldata, icedataand winddata has been analyzed over the years 1998-2007. The results shows that aseasonally variation in the sea ice extent affects large aerosols (1-10 μm) whilesmaller aerosols (<1 μm) doesn’t seem to be affected as much.

En av dessa processer kanvara förhållandet mellan den arktiska isens utberedning ochhavssaltsaerosolkoncentrationen.Det här arbetet studerar hur variationer i den Arktiska isens utberedning påverkarhavssaltsaerosolkoncentrationen vid Barrow, Alaska. Till det har aerosoldata, isdataoch vinddata, eftersom bildandet av havssaltsaersoler är vindberoende, studeratsunder en tioårsperiod åren 1998-2007. Resultaten visar att säsongsvisa variationer iisens utberedning tydligt påverkar koncentrationen av större havssaltsaerosoler(1-10μm) medan mindre havsaltsaerosoler(<1 μm) inte tycks påverkas av isensutberedning lika mycket.

A mucilagem de chia é um hidrocolóide e têm sido visto como um ingrediente com potencial para utilização no segmento de alimentos. O presente estudo teve como objetivo extrair e caracterizar a mucilagem da semente de chia para obter mais informações sobre suas propriedades tecnológicas e aplicá-la em biscoito salgado isento de glúten. Para a extração da mucilagem foi aplicado o método de extração aquosa, na concentração de 1:40 semente: água (m/m) durante 90 minutos, posterior filtração simples e secagem por 20 horas a 50ºC. Foram caracterizadas a semente inteira, a mucilagem e a torta resultante do processo de extração. Os resultados obtidos mostram que todos são adequados nutricionalmente para o consumo. A mucilagem apresentou um rendimento médio de 6% e os géis de mucilagem apresentaram valores de firmeza, coesão, elasticidade e gomosidade semelhantes aos da goma xantana, apresentando pouca pigmentação, o que a caracteriza a viabilidade do seu uso como espessante, melhorador de textura e qualidade nutricional em biscoitos isentos de glúten. Foram produzidas três formulações de biscoito, uma padrão (FP), uma adicionada de mucilagem (FM) e outra adicionada de goma xantana (FX), sendo mantido fixos os outros ingredientes na formulação. As analises de composição centesimal dos biscoitos indicaram que não houve diferença significativa entre a FP e a FM. Ao aplicar a mucilagem no biscoito salgado produzido com farinhas isentas de glúten, pode-se perceber que os efeitos obtidos em relação a textura foram em menor escala comparados aos da goma xantana.
Mucilage of chia seeds is a hydrocolloid and has been seen as an ingredient with potential for use in the food segment. The present study has as objective extract and characterize the mucilage from chia seeds in order to obtain more information about its technological properties and apply it on gluten-free biscuit. To extract the mucilage, the aqueous method was applied at the concentration of 1:40 seed: water (m / m) for 90 minutes, afterwards simple filtration and drying for 20 hours at 50 ° C. The results obtained show that all of three are nutritionally adequate for consumption. The mucilage show an average yield of 6% and the mucilage gels showed values of firmness, cohesion, elasticity and gumness similar to those of xanthan gum, showing little pigmentation, which characterizes the viability of its use as a thickener, texture enhancer and Nutritional quality in gluten-free biscuits. Three formulations of biscuit, one standard (FP), one added mucilage (FM) and one added xanthan gum (FX) were produced, the other ingredients being kept fixed in the formulation. The analyzes of the centesimal composition of the biscuits indicated that there was no significant difference between the FP and FM. When the mucilage was applyed in the salty biscuit produced with gluten-free flours, it can be seen that the effects obtained in relation to the texture were in a smaller scale compared to the xanthan gum.

Objetivo: O presente estudo verificou o efeito da redução de gordura das preparações e a exclusão das frituras do cardápio sobre o consumo alimentar e no estado nutricional de clientela com sobrepeso e obesidade, cativa ao almoço de restaurante auto-serviço. Desenho e amostra: estudo longitudinal e de intervenção, com 14 meses de duração, com 80 indivíduos adultos (IMC > 24,9). Reduziram-se os percentuais (%) de gordura de adição das preparações para até 2% e passou-se a executar as preparações que eram fritas por meio de fornos combinados programáveis, sem a utilização de óleo. Resultados: Sessenta e um indivíduos permaneceram na pesquisa, com IMC de 31,1 ± 4,0, idade de 41 ± 7,6. Após modificação no modo produtivo, houve redução do % de gordura nas refeições dos participantes de 15,1 e 12,9%, de homens e mulheres, respectivamente. Verificada também redução média no valor energético total na refeição dos homens (-153 kcal) (p < 0,0001) e das mulheres (-100 kcal) (p < 0,01), sem diminuição das porções servidas. Após 12 meses, verificou-se redução não significante na média no peso dos indivíduos, que passou de 93,2 ± 12,4 para 91,2 ± 10,9 nos homens e de 82 ± 10,9 para 79,9 ± 11,1 das mulheres, correspondente à uma redução de 2,2% e 2,5 no IMC de homens e mulheres respectivamente. Embora tenha se observado correlação positiva entre consumo calórico e peso dos indivíduos nas duas fases da pesquisa (0,275 e 0,351) a redução de peso não foi atribuída estatisticamente à redução de gordura realizada. Conclusões: A redução da gordura no modo de preparo e o uso da tecnologia em restaurantes reduz significativamente o VET das refeições e por esta razão pode contribuir positivamente para o benefício da coletividade. Sugere-se que o setor de alimentação coletiva seja alvo de iniciativas que visem a adequação do padrão alimentar dos cardápios oferecidos. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Purpose: This study evaluated variations in the food intake and the nutritional status of overweight and obesity habitual clients of a self-service restaurant before and after the removal of fried foods and the reduction of added fat to food items from the lunch menu. Desing and sampling: 14-month trial, involving 80 adult participants (BMI > 24.9). The added fat on food preparation was reduced to up to 2%, and fried food items were replaced by alternatives prepared without oil in programmable combined ovens. Results: Sixty-one participants concluded the research. The mean ± standard deviation (SD) BMI for the final sample was equal to 31.1 ± 4,0 the mean ± SD age was equal to 41 ± 7.6. After the food preparation change, there was a mean percentage reduction of 15,1 (men) and 12,9% (women) on the fat percentage content of men and women participants’ meals. There was a mean decrease in the energy meal intake for both men (-153 Kcal) (p < 0,0001) and women (-100 kcal) (p < 0,01), without a decrease in portion sizes, according to the Fischer test (p < 0,05) and the Principal and Hierarchical Factor Analysis. After 12 months, a non significant change in mean weight of individuals, which increased from 93.2 ± 12.4 to 91.2 ± 10.9 in men and 82 ± 10.9 to 79.9 ± 11,1 women, corresponding to a reduction of 2.2% and 2.5 in BMI of men and women respectively. Although it has been observed positive correlation between caloric intake and weight of individuals in the two phases of the study (0.275 and 0.351) weight reduction was not statistically attributed to fat reduction performed.. Discussion: Reduction of added fat in food preparation and use of technology in restaurants can benefit the clientele and the entire community. The author suggests that the food industry business should invest in initiatives that promote healthy changes in offered food menus.

Atualmente, devido ao aumento do número de pessoas que sofrem da doença celíaca, o mercado dos alimentos isentos de glúten tem vindo a expandir a oferta, no entanto, para além de não serem sensorialmente apelativos, o preço final ao consumidor é elevado. A ausência do glúten no pão representa um desafio tecnológico, pois é necessário recorrer a matérias primas alternativas e que mimetizem as propriedades elásticas assumidas pelo glúten. Em simultâneo, também tem crescido a procura por alimentos com ingredientes bioativos e as microalgas são reconhecidas como fonte de diversos compostos com impacto positivo na saúde humana. O principal objetivo deste trabalho foi o desenvolvimento de pães isentos de glúten com incorporação da alga Tetraselmis chuii. Esta é uma microalga verde unicelular com propriedades nutricionais interessantes para a saúde humana. No decorrer do trabalho foi desenvolvida uma formulação controlo à base de farinha de trigo sarraceno, farinha de arroz e amido de batata, utilizada como base para estudar o impacto da adição de teores de alga de 1%, 2% e 4% (m/m). Avaliou-se a textura e reologia das massas, o perfil de envelhecimento do pão, os parâmetros de cor da massa e do pão, a atividade da água e humidade do miolo dos pães, o volume final dos pães e as perdas durante a cozedura dos pães. A incorporação de biomassa microalgal de Tetraselmis chuii originou produtos com características tecnológicas dependentes do nível de incorporação de microalga. Para níveis de 1% e 2% (m/m) verifica-se uma desestabilização da estrutura desenvolvida pelo amido e o HPMC, obtendo-se pães mais compactos, mais firmes e com menor volume do que o pão controlo. Para 4% (m/m) de incorporação de Tetraselmis chuii, as proteínas da microalga em associação com o amido e o HPMC desenvolvem um outro tipo de estrutura, reforçando a viscoelasticidade da massa, dando origem a um pão com maior volume e menor firmeza. Verificou-se ainda que a incorporação de microalga tem um efeito positivo no envelhecimento do pão. A análise sensorial hedónica realizada a três das formulações – controlo, 1% e 4% (m/m) de microalga, recorrendo a um painel de 32 provadores não treinados, resultou na eleição da formulação com 1% (m/m) de microalga como a preferida do painel

AbstractBuilding a national unified ISEMS (industrial internet security emergency management system) plays an important role in industrial cybersecurity defense. However, due to technical and management constraints, the current ISEMS has problems such as scattered security organizations, poor sharing channels, and fails to form an overall security guarantee capability for threat reporting, analyzing, warning, and disposing. The blockchain technology has the characters of decentralized trust construction, inter-organizational data sharing, data integrity assurance, data traceability, which just meets the requirements of the emergency management process. This paper analyzes the situation and challenges of ISEMS, describes the system architecture and organizational structure based on the blockchain, and describes the key implementation processes of blockchain-based ISEMS, including threat report, risk analysis, warning release and emergency response.

AbstractIn this chapter, Raphael Heiberger and Michael Windzio examine which topics are important for major education international organization (IOs). IOs in the field of education follow different ideological paradigms in the global education discourse. Yet, it is an open question as to whether different types of IOs focus on different topics and thereby support different paradigms of education. Based on more than 1000 documents with over 40 million words published by the World Bank, UNESCO, the ILO, the OECD, ISESCO, and SEAMEO, they explore education issues addressed in this sample. Using standardized methods of quantitative text analysis and topic modeling, Heiberger and Windzio reveal that major topics found in these documents do indeed differ between the different types of organizations.

Os gastos tributários desempenham um papel importante nas presses fiscais enfrentadas pelo Brasil e pela regio da América Latina e o Caribe, mas há pouca informaço sobre uma das mais importantes, uma isenço especial do Imposto de Renda Pessoa Física (IRPF) nos proventos de aposentadoria. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a racionalidade e avaliar os impactos distributivos e fiscais relativos a essa isenço. A experincia internacional mostra que arranjos previdenciários semelhantes ao brasileiro compulsório com benefício definido usualmente concedem isenço na tributaço da renda dos aposentados. Segundo a experincia internacional, a política pretende aliviar o choque de renda decorrente da suposta reduço da capacidade contributiva e maior presso sobre as despesas com saúde. No entanto, mesmo que os gastos com a saúde cresçam com a idade, a análise econométrica com dados da PNAD-C no encontrou choque de renda negativo para o público beneficiário em comparaço com trabalhadores ativos da mesma idade. Observouse que o contingente beneficiado pela isenço especial situa-se nos estratos mais ricos da populaço, e há evidncia de que parte da presso de gastos em saúde é mitigada pela oferta pública desse serviço. Espera-se que esta avaliaço seja útil a outros países da regio com regimes semelhantes.

This report provides an overview of the seventh event in ECPS’s monthly Mapping Global Populism panel series, titled "Democracy in Thailand: Navigating Populism and Authoritarianism," held online on November 30, 2023. Moderated by Dr. Michael Montesano, Associate Senior Fellow at the Thailand Studies Programme, Yusof Ishak Institute – ISEAS, the panel featured speakers Dr. Petra Alderman, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham and Research Fellow of CEDAR, Itsakul Unahakate, PhD candidate at the University of Sydney and Lecturer at Thammasat University, and Pattanun Arunpreechawat from NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

Résumé :

This report presents summative evaluation results for a National Science Foundation funded project entitled Grounding Institutional Partnerships in Structures for Broader Impacts Design (BID). The project represents a collaboration between five institutions: Institute for Learning Innovation, The STEM Research Center at Oregon State University, Scicenter, University of Washington-Bothell, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. BID aimed at creating an inter-institutional structure and toolkit to assist higher education institutions (HEIs) and informal science education organizations (ISEs) in developing sustainable institutional partnerships through collaboration around the design of informal STEM education-based Broader Impacts (BI) experiences. The project built upon the Portal to the Public (PoP) framework, bringing together research support professionals, STEM education professionals and Principal Investigators at HEIs with practitioners at ISEs (i.e., BID partners) to enhance BI experiences for the public by leveraging human resources through intentional coordination and partnerships. This report addresses the impact of this collective work, serves as a record of the project, and as a resource for future partnerships that support BI.

Résumé :

The names of the kings of the Fifth Dynasty may serve as a prototypical example for the re-evaluation of Manetho’s king-list: Userkaf, Sahure, Neferirkare, Shepseskare, Reneferef, Nirewoser, Djedkare-Isesi and Unas are all recorded in the king-list of Manetho as transmitted by Sextus Julius Africanus according to the Ecloga chronographiae of George Syncellus. Although the names as preserved have obviously suffered on a long way of copying manuscripts over and over again, a closer look at the Greek transcriptions reveals the high quality and the still unbroken relevance of Manetho’s Aegyptiaca for modern Egyptological scholarship, when dealing with chronology, onomastics and linguistics. As will be shown, there is a line, identifiable with variable degrees of difficultly but finally clearly discernible, which leads all the way down from the Old Kingdom to Manetho’s Aegyptiaca.
