Résumé :
AbstractThe area where literature, art, music, religion, spirituality, and philosophy split off from, run parallel to each other, and merge again is like a delta. This essay explores the complex interrelations between art and spirituality on three levels. First on the level of spiritual experience, exemplified by experiences of the art of still life (the painter Morandi, the poet Kopland). On the second level, several questions about meaning are analyzed, beginning with the question of meaning posed by the work of art itself. Both art and spirituality presuppose an open and receptive attitude. In philosophical reflections on the meaning of art, some aim primarily at its relevance for our insight into the reality of things, people, and animals, while others are more concerned with its significance for human action. Thirdly, some problems on the level of research are discussed. Research invites us to come to a critical relativization of what we have seen, heard, or read and also allows us to see that the often presupposed ‘immediacy’ of our experience is in fact mediated by pre-given schemes and habits. Three reasons are given to answer the question why it is meaningful to research these mediations and to search for the authentic meanings of art works (in particular works of literature) themselves.

Résumé :
Attending closely to the implicit kineticism of Picabia's 1924 “Instantaneist Manifesto” and the musicalist aesthetic of his art, Annette Michelson considers the artist's interest in time and moving images, arguing that temporalization is the key impulse in his practice regardless of medium. This dedication to temporalization, the author claims, manifests not only as a fetishization of mobility and travel but more critically as the stimulus for interrelations between dance, cinema, painting, and poetry.

Résumé :
Muhammad Qutb was a writer and Islamic thinker. He believed that Islamic art (literature) is not necessarily the art of talking about Islam. Islamic art is not an advice, direct sermon, and insistence on the following goodness. It is an art that draws an image of existence from the perspective of perception (tasawwur) of Islam on everything that exists. It is a wonderful expression of the universe, life, and humanity, through the Islamic teachings of it. Islamic art is an art that finds the perfect interrelation between the beauty (al-Jamal) and the truth (al-Haq). Beauty refers to the reality of this nature, whilst the truth is the peak of beauty. The relationship between art and Islam is not a reluctance and hostility relationship. It is contrary to a group that assumes religion is related to truth, and art is only about beauty (al-Jamal). Many say that religion only focuses on ethics and morals. On the contrary, Islamic art rejects all constraints against it, including morals and attitude. Religion actually fulfilled the needs of the soul with art, and art meets the creed of the inner soul. The concept of Muhammad Qutb leads to the universal idea of literature (عالمية الأدب), and the commitment to art based on literary texts, and within the framework of Islam. The Quran is a major source of art, presenting a perfect vision of nature, life, and humanity, including the purpose of the arts itself. Islamic art is characterized by four attributes, namely divine truth, the universe, life, and humanity. These four attributes are the core of Islamic art, in addition to the Islamic teachings of existence that focus on realism, beauty, human emotion, destiny, and the truth of faith. All these are the things that turn the arts into giving life-packs and expressions that affect the souls of men.

Abstract The present study elucidates the presence of the phenomenon of artistic synesthesia in painting, describes the types of synesthesia and their effects, sensory symbiotic relationships, correlations with different genres of art: dance, music, literature. Early art forms were initially distinguished by an archaic and primary syncretism, being interconnected and dependent on each other. Subsequently, during the historical evolution, these artistic forms were dispersed in separate art genres, while preserving this specific intermediarity and interrelation, of artistic synesthesia. Synesthetic phenomena in painting are stylistically interconnected with music, dance, literature.

AbstractIn this paper the characterization of a gypsum plaster sample from the end of the 19th century simulating imperial red porphyry using a multi-analytical approach is presented and discussed. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), physical and mechanical properties are summarized. In order to have further insight into the microstructure, polarized light microscopy (PLM), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM-EDS), and micro Raman spectroscopy analyzes were also made. They helped to clarify the main issues raised by the other complementary analytical techniques and allowed the establishment of interrelations between the different properties, providing important information about the materials, the skills, and the technological development involved in the art of imitating noble stones with gypsum pastes. This study also contributes to our knowledge concerning the preservation of these types of elements that are important in the context of European decorative arts and rarely reported in the literature.

Résumé :
Abstract A certain tradition of philosophical considerations on the interrelation between sport and art has already been established. According to Tim L. Elcombe (Elcombe, 2012, p. 201), such considerations on the subject first appeared in English-language literature in the 1970s and 1980s, and were fruitful. Usually, they appear together with questions on the aesthetic properties of sport - in this case, a special issue of the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport dedicated to ―Sport and Aesthetics‖ (2012, vol. 39, no. 2), and an excellent postdoctoral dissertation by Jakub Mosz entitled ―Estetyczne aspekty uczestnictwa w sporcie‖ (English: Aesthetic aspects of participation in sports) may serve as good examples. In his article (Elcombe, 2012), Tim L. Elcombe describes the contention and briefly characterizes the main differences between the two opposing viewpoints (Elcombe, 2012, pp. 202-204). It should be noted that he sympathizes with the view of David Best, who some years ago argued that sport is not art (1988, pp. 527-539). He believes that ―although art could use sport as a subject, art could not be the subject of sport‖ (Elcombe, 2012, p. 202). I would like to make that statement more specific by adding that its second part suggests that the display of artistic values cannot be the fundamental purpose of sport. I shall expand on that later. Best's viewpoint was criticized by Jan Boxil (1988), Spencer Wertz (1988), and Terry Roberts (1995), who believed that sport could be treated as art. Christopher Cordner (1995a; 1995b) and Joseph Kupfer (1988) also challenged Best, although they did not entirely disagree with him (see: Elcombe, 2012, pp. 202-204). Because literature on the subject published in English presents diversified statements on the interrelation between sport and art, and the circle of people engaged in the matters of physical culture in Poland is still in favor of equating sport with art, I have decided to present my own stance on that matter.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of social capital on the adoption of best crop management practices and testified the mediatory role of learning in the relationship between social capital and the adoption of best crop management practices. Then the authors examined the role of education as the moderator of the interrelations between social capital, learning and the adoption of crop management practices. Design/methodology/approach Based on a survey of 317 small farmers from three districts of Southern Punjab, the authors used structural equation modeling and bootstrapping to test these relationships. Findings The study confirms that bonding social capital and bridging social capital are positively related to the adoption of best crop management practices. Moreover, the authors empirically demonstrate that exploitative and explorative learning act as the parallel mediators between social capital and the adoption of best crop management practices. Practical implications By focusing on building social capital and maintaining meaningful interactions with the social networks, the small farmers can improve their existing methods and practices of managing the existing varieties of crops. Originality/value The extant literature has highlighted, but usually not explored, the imperative interrelations between social capital, learning and the adoption of best crop management practices. The authors provide empirical evidence about these relationships.

The purpose of this study was to determine the current status of knowledge management in the construction industry; the references analyzed formulate theoretical links between the variables listed above, therefore this article organizes the material. The methodology employed is founded on a systematic literature review, a bibliometric search of the variables, and an analytical-synthetic procedure based on the classification of articles. The outcome is the formulation of the current state of the art, which schematizes the variables individually and their interrelation. This work contributes to the literature of knowledge management and project management by presenting these findings. To improve the performance of knowledge transfer and, consequently, the performance of projects, this study is also of importance to corporations and public bodies that manage projects in the construction industry.

Résumé :
The prevalence of asthma has nearly doubled over the last decades. Twentieth century changes in environmental and lifestyle factors, including changes in dietary habits, physical activity and the obesity epidemic, have been suggested to play a role in the increase of asthma prevalence and uncontrolled asthma worldwide. A large body of evidence has suggested that obesity is a likely risk factor for asthma, but mechanisms are still unclear. Regarding diet and physical activity, the literature remains inconclusive. Although the investigation of nutritional factors as a whole (i.e., the “diet, physical activity and body composition” triad) is highly relevant in terms of understanding underlying mechanisms, as well as designing effective public health interventions, their combined effects across the life course has not received a lot of attention. In this review, we discuss the state of the art regarding the role of nutritional factors in asthma, for each window of exposure. We focus on the methodological and conceptual challenges encountered in the investigation of the complex time-dependent interrelations between nutritional factors and asthma and its control, and their interaction with other determinants of asthma. Lastly, we provide guidance on how to address these challenges, as well as suggestions for future research.

I hold that Melvillean society consists of paradoxical relationships between civilization and barbarianism, evil and good, the corrupt and the natural, the individual and the collective, and the primitive and the advanced. Because these terms are arbitrary and, in the context of the novels, somewhat interchangeable, I explore Melville's thoughts as those emerge in the following groups of novels: Typee, Omoo, and White-Jacket demonstrate the paradox of Melvillean society; Redburn, Moby-Dick, and Mardi illustrate the corrupting effects of capitalism and individualism; and The Confidence-Man, Israel Potter, and Pierre depict a collapsed paradox and the disintegration of Melville's society.

O termo “pós-objeto” foi extraido do CARRIER, D. The art museum today. Curator: The museum journal. Volume 54, Issue 2, p. 181–189, Abril de 2011.
This thesis is the result of a phenomenological research study, where the object of the research is the interrelations between architecture and contemporary artistic expressions at Inhotim. The theory of phenomenology acknowledges that the sensory experience of space is also unique function of space. In architecture it is demonstrated through the manipulation of material and immaterial elements of space in order to produce an impact on the human senses. Since the consolidation of contemporary art, particularly post-object1 art such as environment, site-specific, new media, installations and others that convey sensorial experiences, the need to preserve the relationship between the work and its place has strengthened. Changes in what/how art is have interfered in how art spaces are. Therefore, through the case of the Inhotim, the central matter that this thesis seeks to address is how the changes of paradigms in the arts brought about new architectural conformations that better accommodate contemporary art. This work is organized in three scales of analysis of this interrelation: (1) the scale of the artistic fact in relation to space; (2) the scale of the gallery in relation to the artistic fact; and, (3) the scale of the whole physical space of the museum, approaching Inhotim as whole, reading into its path- oriented form, its created landscapes and architectural set. The term “post-object” was extracted from CARRIER, D. The art museum today. Curator: The museum journal. Volume 54, Issue 2, pages 181–189, April 2011.

Engelhardt, Nina Malaika. « Mathematics in literature : modernist interrelations in novels by Thomas Pynchon, Hermann Broch, and Robert Musil ». Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/7769.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
The focus of this thesis is on four novels’ illustrations of the parallels and interrelations between the foundational crisis of mathematics and the political, linguistic, and epistemological crises around the turn to the twentieth century. While the latter crises with their climax in the First World War are commonly agreed to define modern culture and literature, this thesis concentrates on their relations with the ‘modernist transformation’ of mathematics as illustrated in Thomas Pynchon’s Against the Day (2006) and Gravity’s Rainbow (1973), Hermann Broch’s The Sleepwalkers (1930-1932), and Robert Musil’s The Man without Qualities (1930/32). In the revaluation of mathematics during its foundational crisis, the certainty and rationality of this most certain science is challenged, and the novels accordingly employ mathematics as an example for the dramatic transformation of the modern West, the wider loss of absolute truth, and the increasing scepticism towards Enlightenment values. Crisis, however, also implied some freedoms and opportunities for literature and criticism. When the developing modern notion of mathematics is defined by autonomy and independence from the natural world, it bears traits more commonly associated with literary fiction, and the novels examine the possible convergence of mathematics and literature in the freedom of imaginary existence. The novels thus highlight the unique position of the structural science mathematics in the relation of the (natural) sciences and the humanities and suggest it to escape or straddle the perceived divide between the disciplines. The examination and historicising of relations between fiction and mathematical conceptualisations of the world as introduced in the major works by Pynchon, Broch, and Musil thus also contributes to distinguishing the specific conditions of studying mathematics in fiction in the wider field of literature and science.

Résumé :
This groundbreaking collection from scholars and artists on the legacy of Beckett in contemporary art provides readers with a unique view of this important writer for page, stage, and screen. The volume argues that Beckett is more than an influence on contemporary art―he is, in fact, a contemporary artist, working alongside artists across disciplines in the 1960s, 1970s, and beyond. The volume explores Beckett's formal experiments in drama, prose, and other media as contemporary, parallel revisions of modernism's theoretical presuppositions congruent with trends like minimalism and conceptual art. Containing interviews with and pieces by working artists, alongside contributions of scholars of literature and the visual arts, this collection offers an essential reassessment of Beckett's work. Perceiving Beckett's ongoing importance from the perspective of contemporary art practices, dominated by installation and conceptual strategies, it offers a completely new frame through which to read perennial Beckettian themes of impotence, failure, and penury. From Beckett's remains, as it were, contemporary artists find endless inspiration.

Résumé :
AbstractEconomic approaches and socio-cultural integration are still the most prominent frameworks applied to explain return migration and permanent settlement. In contrast to the bulk of literature focusing on established migrations from poorer to richer regions, the contribution analyses the permanence of emigration from economically highly developed countries. Based on a life-course approach, it highlights the interrelations between life-course domains shaping the intentions of German emigrants to settle permanently abroad, planning to return, and those who are still undecided. The analyses are based on the German Emigration and Remigration Panel Study (GERPS) surveying recently emigrated German citizens. The results show that almost half of those emigrants intend to return home after living for only a few years abroad, whereas every fifth reports permanent settlement intentions in the destination country. Multinomial logistic regressions demonstrate that the status within individual domains of the life course–particularly economic status, family arrangement, as well as existing social interactions–together with previous migration experiences shape the intended length of the current migration project.

Résumé :
AbstractEmerging digital technologies enable the creation of new services and business models, leading to ecosystems’ continuous change. In the tourism industry, new digital-savvy players like Airbnb have entered and created entirely new market segments, while many existing players are challenged to redefine their business logic. However, the literature does not provide a generic overview of the value network in tourism, including new market players, and their ways of interacting. Therefore, this paper develops a current overview of the value network of the European tourism ecosystem. By analyzing the business models and value streams of 704 European enterprises based on Crunchbase data, we identified 27 distinct roles and their respective interrelations in the domain. To validate the proposed value network, we conducted five expert interviews. Our results highlight the continuously growing importance of intermediaries in tourism. Furthermore, new technology players offer new opportunities for innovative services, creating high dynamism in the industry. Nonetheless, local entities, such as residents and communities, play a central role in European tourism and need to be included in experiences provided to tourists. Scholars and practitioners might use the results to identify disruptive actors and opportunities for innovation and niche creation. Additionally, the results can be used as a basis for further analysis of the ecosystem’s ongoing changes induced through technological advancements or external events such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
It has been found that the values of ratio of hourly global illuminance to daily global illuminance, rvt, are very close to the corresponding values for global solar radiation, rt, examined from the measured data of six IDMP [1] (International Day light Measurement Programme) locations. This has been further confirmed by examining the values for rvt and rt as calculated from TMY2 [2] (Typical Metrological Year) data base for primary locations. Based on this, it has been proposed that the correlations available in literature to predict rt can be employed to predict rvt. Adequacy of the correlation due to Collares-Pereira and Rabl [3] available for rt has been examined to predict rvt as obtained from TMY2 data base for the 56 primary locations. It has been found that the values of rvt obtained from measured illuminance data of six locations have been predicted within a rms difference of 2.71% and within a rms difference of 4.3% for the 56 primary locations of TMY2 data when the correlation due to Collares-Pereira and Rabl for rt has been employed.

Résumé :
severely due to the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Unbalance of the Irontriangle which refers to key Construction Project Goals (CPG) (i.e., time, cost, and quality) is one of the phenomena that can be addressed while Sustainable Development (SD) (i.e., economic, social, and environmental sustainability) has been streamlined to worse condition. Even though, sustainability must be prioritised in developing countries e.g., Sri Lanka, where significant construction works are currently underway, especially during this situation. Further, the appropriate construction and implementation in a construction project can make a dramatic contribution to the mandate of sustainable development. Hence, this research intends to investigate how the Iron triangle would be unbalanced during the new-normal situation where it has a significant impact on SD simultaneously. A qualitative survey strategy was used to achieve the research aim. A semi-structured interview survey was conducted to solicit the perception of experts. Nine experts were selected purposively, who had experience in both Sustainable Construction (SC) and project management, especially proceedings during the new-normal condition. To analyse the empirical data, the manual content analysis method was used. As the decisive outcome, the ‘Iron-star’ model was developed by merging the Sustainable triangle and Iron-triangle which pertained to the interrelation between SD and Construction Project Goals (CPG). Initially, interrelations between SD measures and CPG were cogitated by literature findings. Economic depletion, health-related issues, supply chain disruption, and cash flow issues were identified as interventions to achieve CPG through SD measures. Further, it revealed that the Iron-star can implement as the way forward for the construction industry in the Sri Lankan (SL) context.

Résumé :
According to resource-based view, market orientation can help companies to enhance performance. By looking at customer portfolios of global 3PL companies, certain customer sector specialization can be noticed, hence, market orientation is an asset that is valuable and provides a competitive advantage to companies that possess it. A detailed in-depth look into internal processes of 3PL companies is needed to demonstrate interrelationships between 3PL key resources, which are information, knowledge, relational and human resources. The purpose of this study is to develop a model that would demonstrate transmissions between commercial and operational processes in 3PL companies. A system dynamic approach is chosen to demonstrate these interrelations. This study is organized as follows. First, an empirical literature research is done to discover studies related to resources of 3PL companies. Second, a model demonstrating commercial and operational processes of 3PL companies is developed, based on system dynamics approach. Third, approbation of the model is done to test multiple scenarios of 3PL portfolio planning. As the result of the study, there are suggestions developed for 3PL companies’ management teams addressed to improve portfolio planning process within 3PL organizations.

Condition being studied: This investigation aims to map the social and ethical controversies associated with the use of Big Data, addressing the “technological optimism” that tends to surround the use of these techniques in the tourism sector, which may compromise sustainable tourism in the long term. Main outcome(s): It allows to develop an awareness of benefits and risks and to involve all stakeholders in the debate. It will increase transparency, and promote more accessible communication while promoting the sharing of experiences and opinions from different interest groups. This type of solution should be implemented at an early stage of the process.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
Countries in the Western Balkans have engaged in various transitional justice and reconciliation initiatives to address the legacy of the wars of the 1990s and the deep political and societal divisions that persist. There is growing consensus among scholars and practitioners that in order to foster meaningful change, transitional justice must extend beyond trials (the dominant international mechanism in the region) and be more firmly anchored in affected communities with alternative sites, safe spaces, and modes of engagement. This rapid literature review presents a sample of initiatives, spanning a range of sectors and fields – truth-telling, art and culture, memorialisation, dialogue and education – that have achieved a level of success in contributing to processes of reconciliation, most frequently at the community level. It draws primarily from recent studies, published in the past five years. Much of the literature available centres on Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), with some examples also drawn from Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia.

Résumé :
The article analyzes some theoretical and practical aspects of creativity. The author shares his opinion that the concept of creativity belongs to the fundamental concepts of philosophy, psychology, literature, art, pedagogy. Creativity is one of the important concepts of the theory of journalism. The author does not agree with the extended definition of creativity. He believes that journalistic activity becomes creativity when it is free and associated with the creation and establishment of new national and universal values, with the highest intensity of intellectual and moral strength of the journalist, when journalism is a manifestation of civic position, when this activity combines professional skills and perfect literary form. The author also believes that literary skill and the skill of a journalist are not identical concepts, because literary skill is a component of journalistic skill.

Résumé :
Review question / Objective: The objective of the present study was to analyze the findings of the scientific literature related to MMA through an exploratory systematic review on the subject and to present the state of the art of the sport from a multifactorial perspective. Condition being studied: Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport characterized by its high degree of freedom in offensive and defensive approaches resulting in the inclusion of techniques and tactics from multiple combat sport styles. MMA has gained legitimacy and uniformity of rule sets after a tumultuous and unregulated introduction in North America as well as it is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. However, to the best of our knowledge, there are still no methodical, comprehensive, transparent, and replicable studies that have summarized the overall perspective of MMA athletes, resulting in an integrated analysis for a better scientific understanding and more efficient practical applications.
