Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine international football supporter behaviours within the context of national and socio-cultural identification, in an effort to better understand what role national identity plays in fan motivation and consumer behaviour for expatriate and non-domestic fans. Design/methodology/approach International football supporters across ten cultural and ethnic communities were surveyed throughout the 2014 Fédération Internationale de Football Association World Cup Finals, exploring the identification and new media socialisation behaviours of national team supporters in non-domestic markets. Findings The study’s findings provide evidence of the role identification plays in informing national and ethnic identities. Supporting one’s home or ancestral national team reflects an important element of national identification and socio-cultural place for expatriate or non-domestic supporters of international football. Importantly, new media behaviours provide supporters with a formative and productive source of national team fan engagement and ethnocultural community creation, particularly for younger target audiences. Practical implications These results bear particular significance for theory and practice: the digital socialisation behaviours supporters engage in are integral components of identity building and communication. In better understanding the awareness and interest of geographically detached sport consumers, this study offers new perspective into the opportunities present for sport organisations and marketers in reaching non-domestic fan nations. Originality/value The findings offer new perspective into the role national identification plays in fan involvement and motivation, and importantly how new media has emerged as a key platform for expatriate and non-domestic supporter socialisation amongst international football supporters.

Résumé :
Europe as a supranational entity is frequently associated to inclusive and cosmopolitan values, which explains why identification with Europe generally relates to tolerant attitudes toward immigrants. However, because of major immigration movements, Europe has recently gone through demographic and social changes that have challenged its values and identity. In this context, we argue that, because national immigrant integration policies convey social norms about how citizens should deal with issues related to immigration, policies should also shape the association between identification with Europe and attitudes toward immigrants. Indeed, tolerant, more so than intolerant, policies in a country lay the foundations for interpreting identification with Europe as an inclusive stance, and consequently should enhance the association between identification with Europe and reduced anti-immigrant attitudes. To investigate these associations, we conducted a cross-country multilevel analysis including 22 European countries from the 2013 International Social Survey Programme. As predicted, identification with Europe was associated to reduced anti-immigrant prejudice. Furthermore, this negative association was stronger in countries with more tolerant, inclusive policies (assessed by the Migrant Integration Policy Index [MIPEX]) compared with countries with more intolerant, exclusive policies. Results are discussed in light of the content of European identity and of different embodiments of social norms.

Résumé :
This article raises the question of how organisational identification emerges at distance and across cultural contexts. The question is explored in an empirical study of identification processes among Moroccan members of an international association that assemble young leaders and entrepreneurs in small- and medium sized companies. On the basis of a narrative analysis of interviews, observations, and documents, the article illustrates two mutually reinforcing identification processes: One is based on face-to-face social interaction with likeminded peers locally; another is imaginary in the sense that the Moroccan members envision members in other countries to be like themselves and what they aspire to become. This contributes to crosscultural management literature in three ways: first, the study adopts a transnational lens that shows the need to go beyond a national perspective and to explore identification at the intersection between the global and local; second, the study draws on concepts of imagined community (Anderson, 1983) and community of sentiments (Appadurai, 1996) to conceptualise the imaginary part of the identification processes, which transcends locality. Third, the study contributes methodologically by showing how the distinction between translocal and local narratives allows to analyse the interplay between an imagined transnational community and a local face-to-face community.

Résumé :
Post-decision confidence from witnesses who make a positive identification decision can serve as a valuable indicator of identification accuracy under certain conditions. International best-practice guidelines therefore recommend asking witnesses to indicate their confidence following a selection from a lineup. Three experiments that used Dutch identification protocols, however, reported no significant post-decision confidence-accuracy association. To examine this conflict between the international and the Dutch literature, we tested the strength of the post-decision confidence-accuracy relationship for lineups that followed Dutch protocol in two ways: we conducted an experiment and re-analyzed two experiments that implemented Dutch lineup protocols. As expected, the post-decision confidence-accuracy relationship was strong for positive identifications and weak for negative identification decisions in our experiment. The re-analysis of the pre-existing data showed a strong effect for positive identification decisions of participants up to the age of 40 years. For exploratory purposes, we also tested the confidence-accuracy relationship between lineup administrators’ perception of witnesses’ confidence and eyewitness identification accuracy. In our experiment, the relationship was strong for choosers and weak for nonchoosers. The re-analysis of pre-existing data showed no correlation between confidence and accuracy, unless we excluded adults over 40 of age. We recommend adapting the Dutch identification guidelines to reflect the current and previous findings on the post-decision confidence-accuracy relationship.

Résumé :
The Importance of promoting Human Rights in the Recovery and Identification of Missing and Unidentified persons was presented at 9th International Dental Ethics and Law Society (IDEALS) congress in 2012 and was first introduced in May 2013 at the annual meeting of the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) conference organized by Interpol in Lyon. Dr. Emilio Nuzzolese, participating odontologist of the Interpol Forensic Odontology working group, highlighted the need to apply the highest identification standards and Interpol guidelines to all unidentified human remains, equally in a DVI scenario as well as in a single missing and unidentified person. In 2015 these concepts also inspired the creation of an international group of odontologists from twelve Countries called ‘Forensic Odontology for Human Rights’. The group began promoting the need to protect the human rights of the dead to have a name and an identity by participating in conferences and meetings, and through publications and training at most international forensic events. The mentoring of colleagues with the goal of promoting an authentic involvement of forensic odontology in the identification process was also instigated. The continuous growth of the group, along with the need to involve forensic experts from other disciplines, led to the constitution of the Association Forensic Odontology for Human Rights (AFOHR) and the inauguration of humanitarian forensic odontology. Having become a recognized voluntary organization in the context of humanitarian forensics, in 2019 AFOHR board members discussed the steps needed to achieve the rights of having a date of birth and an identity for every deceased individual. Eight forensic odontology sustainable goals were approved: human rights of the dead; human identification action; international partnership; human forensic odontology; strong forensic odontology; human identification kit; quality age determination; dental evidence in crimes against vulnerable persons. Under the auspices of AFOHR that aim is to inspire colleagues and forensic associations to the best administration of Justice for best practices in human identification and age estimation.

Résumé :
This article investigates the role of relational identification in the relation between joint actions and small-firm ambidexterity in asymmetric alliances. Using survey data on Chinese high-technology firms, we find that joint problem-solving and joint sensemaking are both positively associated with a small firm’s relational identification. We also find a positive relationship between a small firm’s relational identification and knowledge exploration and exploitation. More importantly, we show that relational identification mediates the relationships between joint actions (i.e. joint problem-solving and joint sensemaking) and small-firm ambidexterity, except for the relationship between joint sensemaking and small-firm knowledge exploitation. This study advances our understanding of the association between joint actions and ambidexterity by providing a social identification explanation.

Résumé :
Introduction: There is no international consensus regarding gestational diabetes mellitus diagnostic criteria. In Portugal, the Carpenter and Coustan criteria were replaced by an adaptation of the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria. Our aim was to compare the incidence and outcomes of pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus according to the current and previous criteria.Material and Methods: Retrospective analysis of 1218 singleton pregnancies complicated with gestational diabetes mellitus, with surveillance/delivery between 2008-2015. Two groups were considered: identification according to the Directorate-General of Health criteria - International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups (group 1); identification through Carpenter and Coustan criteria (group 2). A comparative analysis was performed. Results: The incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus doubled (9.4% vs 4.6%), and the number of consultations/year increased (~3000 vs ~2000). In Group 1, in comparison with group 2, there was a lower risk of macrosomia in newborns [RR 0.44 (IC (95%):0.26 - 0.76)] and a higher risk of small for gestational age infants [RR 1.99 (IC (95%):1.19 - 3.31)]; a 6 - fold and 4 fold higher risk in neonatal hypoglycemia [RR 6.30 (IC (95%): 3.39 - 11.71)] and hyperbilirubinemia [RR 3.89 (IC (95%): 2.25 - 6.72)] were also observed, respectively. There were no differences regarding other outcomes. Discussion: Outcomes related to the decrease in macrosomia did now show any improvement, with even an increase in Small for Gestational Age and neonatal complications. Given the increased incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus, Directorate-General of Health – International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria may be associated with greater healthcare-related costs due to more frequent consultations, with no apparent obstetrical/neonatal benefit. Conclusion: The Directorate-General of Health – International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria were associated with a decrease in macrosomia, not accompanied by an improvement of obstetrical/perinatal outcomes. The benefit of using these criteria is open to debate.

Résumé :
The article deals with an overview of heart failure with an emphasis on identification criteria and models of its classification based on literary sources from the MEDLINE database on the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar platforms. The subjective and objective signs of chronic heart failure according to the Framingham Heart Study using the methods of clinical epidemiology and presented with modern data in the international guidelines are shown. Clinical manifestations of acute heart failure in patients with myocardial infarction are outlined. In chronological order, the hemodynamic classification of heart failure is reproduced with the definition of systolic and diastolic dysfunction as markers for ranking patients in practical work. Based on the materials of international guidelines developed by the experts of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Heart Failure Society of America, Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology, the diagnostic indicators of cardiac decompensation are summarized. Given the modern perception, the diagnostic value of the left ventricular ejection fraction has been proven for determining heart failure phenotypes. The classification of heart failure of the New York Heart Association plays a significant role in determining the functional class; this was reflected in the article. Based on the provisions of international guidelines, the importance of natriuretic peptides as potential biomarkers of acute and chronic heart failure is proved. The advantages of assessing the structural and functional parameters of the heart in patients for detecting the preclinical stage of heart failure, association with clinical events and control of treatment are described. An update version of heart failure classification is presented with the identification of four stages and highlighting their characteristics. According to this classification, a relevant preventive measure is to shift the therapeutic focus to the initial stages of diseases that trigger heart failure.

Résumé :
Objective. Short-term or long-term connections between different diseases have not been fully acknowledged. This study was aimed at exploring the network association pattern between disorders that occurred in the same individual by using the association rule mining technique. Methods. Raw data were extracted from the large-scale electronic medical record database of the affiliated hospital of Xuzhou Medical University. 1551732 pieces of diagnosis information from 144207 patients were collected from 2015 to 2020. Clinic diagnoses were categorized according to “International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision”. The Apriori algorithm was used to explore the association patterns among those diagnoses. Results. 12889 rules were generated after running the algorithm at first. After threshold filtering and manual examination, 110 disease combinations ( support ≥ 0.001 , confidence ≥ 60 % , lift > 1 ) with strong association strength were obtained eventually. Association rules about the circulatory system and metabolic diseases accounted for a significant part of the results. Conclusion. This research elucidated the network associations between disorders from different body systems in the same individual and demonstrated the usefulness of the Apriori algorithm in comorbidity or multimorbidity studies. The mined combinations will be helpful in improving prevention strategies, early identification of high-risk populations, and reducing mortality.

The main aeroallergens present in house dust are the mites,Dermatophagoidespteronyssinus (Derp) andDermatophagoidesfarinae (Derf), and cockroaches,Periplanetaamericana (Pera). Objective: This work aims to genetically identify the allergens Derp, Derf, and Pera in household dust of asthmatic patients. Materials and methods: 29 patients, aged between 3 and 17 years, were classified as asthmatic or non-asthmatic according to the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood(ISAAC). Subjectscompleted a complementary questionnaire and skin hypersensitivity tests were performed. House dust was collected from these patients, filtered, and then DNA was extracted. Polymerase chain reactions were performed to identify Derp, Derf, and Pera in the samples. Results: There was an association between Pera sensitization and onset of asthma. There was also an association between the presence of Derp in the home of asthmatic patients and the worsening of symptoms, such as wheezing in the chest and allergic rhinitis. An association between the presence of Derf in house dust of asthmatic patients and the symptoms of allergic rhinitis was found. These data suggest that cockroach sensitization is a predominant factor in asthmatic children and the presence of mite allergens contributesto the worsening of asthma symptoms.

Résumé :
Implementing the 'Patient Identification' procedure during food distribution will ensure the right diet is served to the right patient. This study explored the perception of patient safety culture and its association with patient identification practices among hospital food service workers. We conducted a mixed method research in a Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited hospital in Yogyakarta. Food service workers who received patient safety training and were responsible for distributing food in adult inpatient wards (n=76) participated in this study. Perception of patient safety culture was measured using a validated questionnaire and in-depth interview, whereas patient identification practice was observed directly using a checklist. Descriptive statistics and chi-square tests were employed. More than half (55.3%) of the subjects perceived overall patient safety culture well. However, 34.2% of the subjects performed substandard practice verifying the patient's identity (name, address, or medical record number) when delivering food. There was an insignificant association between the perception of patient safety and patient identification practice by food service workers (p0.05), as some considered that patient identification was more appropriate to be performed by other health professions instead of food service workers. Nevertheless, nearly all (98,68%) food service workers perceived their duty to match the patient's name with the label on the food tray as important.

Résumé :
Abstract Research purpose. The article aims to identify the risk groups arising in foreign trade in the four main groups of processed beverages at a national level. Design / Methodology / Approach. Processed agricultural drinks do not fall into the category of essential food. The article examines four main drink groups: waters (including mineral waters and aerated waters, with additive), beer, wine, and other alcoholic (e.g., spirits, liqueurs, whiskies, rums, gins, vodkas, etc.) beverages. The case of Lithuania is presented. Analysis and assumption of scientific literature and TOPSIS method are used. The study does not aim to assess all risk factors but to identify the groups of risk factors and to rank them according to their importance for each processed beverage sectors supply chains. Findings. Based on the scientific literature analysis, the eight risk groups were identified and were evaluated according to their importance for the beverages supply chain. Experts ranked risk groups taking into account their importance for international processed beverages trade for each product group. The results show that the most important is the Demand risks group for all processed beverages, and the least important is Political risk. The significance of other risk groups for a particular beverage supply chains differs. Supply risks were second in the ‘water with add’ group, while in the ‘other alcohol’ group, it is in fourth place. For the ‘other alcohol’ group, supply risks are less significant. Production risks are one of the most important in the wine trade. Financial risks are one of the most important in the ‘other alcohol’ group. Management and operational risks play an essential role in the beer supply chains. The least significant is three risk groups: Logistical and infrastructural risks, Policy and regulatory risks, Political risks. Originality / Value / Practical implications. The identified risks groups in the four main groups of processed beverages can help shape the country’s trade policy, mitigate trade risks, and effectively manage the agricultural trade beverage subsector. Research results can be practically used both for government or business decisions and for the public sector (trade associations).

Résumé :
ObjectiveTo identify circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) linked to disease, disease stage, and disability in MS across cohorts.MethodsSamples were obtained from the Comprehensive Longitudinal Investigation of Multiple Sclerosis (CLIMB, Boston, MA), EPIC (San Francisco, CA), AMIR (Beirut, Lebanon) as part of the SUMMIT consortium, and Stockholm Prospective Assessment of Multiple Sclerosis (Stockholm, Sweden) cohorts. Serum miRNA expression was measured using locked nucleic acid–based quantitative PCR. Four groups were compared: (1) MS vs healthy control (HC), (2) relapsing-remitting (RR) vs HC, (3) secondary progressive (SP) vs HC, and (4) RR vs SP. A Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used for the comparisons. The association between each miRNA and the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score was assessed using the Spearman correlation coefficient. For each comparison, the p values were corrected for multiple comparisons using the approach of Benjamini and Hochberg to control the false discovery rate.ResultsIn the CLIMB cohort, 5 miRNAs (hsa-miR-484, hsa-miR-140-5p, hsa-miR-320a, hsa-miR-486-5p, and hsa-miR-320c) showed a significant difference between patients with MS and healthy individuals; among these, miR-484 remained significant after accounting for multiple comparisons (p = 0.01). When comparing RRMS with HCs, hsa-miR-484 showed a significant difference (p = 0.004) between the groups after accounting for multiple group comparisons. When SP and HC were compared, 6 miRNAs (hsa-miR-484, hsa-miR-140-5p, hsa-miR-142-5p, hsa-miR-320a, hsa-miR-320b, and hsa-miR-320c) remained significantly different after accounting for multiple comparisons. Disability correlation analysis with miRNA provided 4 miRNAs (hsa-miR-320a, hsa-miR-337-3p, hsa-miR-199a-5p, and hsa-miR-142-5p) that correlated with the EDSS during the internal reproducibility phase. Among these, hsa-miR-337-3p was the most statistically significant miRNA that negatively correlated with the EDSS in three of the MS cohorts tested.ConclusionsThese findings further confirm the use of circulating serum miRNAs as biomarkers to diagnose and monitor disease status in MS.Classification of evidenceThis study provides Class III evidence that levels of circulating miRNAs identify patients with MS.

Résumé :
Medulloblastomas are the most common solid tumors in children, accounting for 8–30% of pediatric brain cancers. It is a high-grade tumor with aggressive behavior and a typically b poor prognosis. Its treatment includes surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, and presents high morbidity. Significant clinical, genetic, and prognostic differences exist between its four molecular subgroups: WNT, SHH, Group 3, and Group 4. Many studies seek to develop new chemotherapeutic agents for medulloblastomas through the identification of genes whose expressions are new molecular targets for drugs, such as membrane receptors associated with cell replication. This study aimed to assess the association of CD114 expression with mortality in patients with medulloblastoma. Databases from the Medulloblastoma Advanced Genomics International Consortium (MAGIC) were analyzed, focusing on the expression of the CD114 membrane receptor in different molecular types and its possible association with mortality. Our findings showed different CD114 expressions between Group 3 and other molecular groups, as well as between the molecular subtypes SHH γ and Group 3 α and Group 3 β. There was no statistically significant difference between the other groups and subtypes. Regarding mortality, this study did not find statistical significance in the association between low and high CD114 expressions and mortality. Medulloblastoma is a heterogeneous disease with many subtype variations of its genetic and intracellular signaling pathways. Similarly to this study, which could not demonstrate different CD114 membrane receptor expression patterns between groups, others who sought to associate CD114 expression with mortality in other types of cancer failed to establish a direct association. Since many indications point to the relation of this gene with cancer stem cells (CSCs), it may be part of a more extensive cellular signaling pathway with an eventual association with tumor recurrence. This study found no direct relationship between CD114 expression and mortality in patients with medulloblastoma. Further studies are needed on the intracellular signaling pathways associated with this receptor and its gene (the CSF3R).

Résumé :
AbstractThis paper raises some questions about Brexit in light of international development cooperation and policy studies. Brexit could be a disrupting critical juncture for UK policy and international development institutions after an extended period as a member of the European Union (EU). Consequently, it calls for investigating ongoing or potential policy reform in the UK’s international development programmes, the identification of policies that will not correspond to the requirements of the UK’s international development agenda in relation to Brexit, and the new policies that will replace them. Furthermore, it argues for the importance of the analysis of the nature and process of such policy reforms, and the attitudes of principal actors towards them. Examining these issues can reveal how a state could untangle and reconfigure itself amidst a complex institutional network of regional states’ association in the 21st Century.

Résumé :
SummarySupersonic rockets generate low-frequency acoustic waves, that is, infrasound, during the launch and re-entry. Infrasound is routinely observed at infrasound arrays from the International Monitoring System, in place for the verification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. Association and source identification are key elements of the verification system. The moving nature of a rocket is a defining criterion in order to distinguish it from an isolated explosion. Here, it is shown how infrasound recordings can be associated, which leads to identification of the rocket. Propagation modelling is included to further constrain the source identification. Four rocket launches by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 2009 and 2017 are analysed in which multiple arrays detected the infrasound. Source identification in this region is important for verification purposes. It is concluded that with a passive monitoring technique such as infrasound, characteristics can be remotely obtained on sources of interest, that is, infrasonic intelligence, over 4500+ km.

Whereas organizational identification is defined as a cognitive connection between a person and an organization, disidentification is defined as a sense of separateness. The authors conducted a mail survey to compare the attitudes and behaviors of people who identify or disidentify with the National Rifle Association or view it in a neutral fashion. The results show that whereas identification is related to people's personal experiences, disidentification is related to their values surrounding the organization. Moreover, although both identifiers and disidentifiers talk, only identifiers take action.

Résumé :
Objectives: To summarize the recent literature and research and present a selection of the best papers published in 2018 in the field of Health Information Management (HIM) and Health Informatics. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was performed, with the help of a medical librarian, by the two editors of the HIM section of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Yearbook. In order to include papers that would address the special theme of the 2019 Yearbook on artificial intelligence (AI) as well as HIM, we searched bibliographic databases for HIM-related papers with an AI focus using both Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) descriptors and keywords in titles and abstracts. A shortlist of 15 candidate best papers was first selected by section editors before being peer-reviewed by independent external reviewers. Results: While there were a significant number of manuscripts that addressed issues relevant to HIM, there were virtually none with MeSH headings indicating an HIM focus. Manuscripts that were considered related to the HIM field in terms of the practice of health information management as well as the profession included those that examined using machine learning and other AI approaches to identify protected health information in clinical text to aid with de-identification, automated coding approaches to translate free-text into standardized codes, and natural language processing approaches to extract clinical data to assist with populating cancer and other registries. Conclusions: The papers discussed in the HIM section reflect the special theme of the use of AI in healthcare on issues particularly relevant to the field of HIM. This synopsis discusses these papers and recommends that HIM practitioners be more involved in research and that researchers in AI and related areas recognize the applicability and relevance of their work to the field of HIM.

Résumé :
During the past decade, the major oil and gas players in Australia have put in significant effort to improve their performance on health and safety. With a strong focus on safety awareness of the workforce, the Australian oil and gas industry has been able to improve their health and safety performance, with leading indicators dropping significantly. From an international perspective, however, the total recordable injury rate in Australia is still more than two and half times higher than the total recordable injury rate among member of the International Oil and Gas Producers Association. This extended abstract introduces a new method to identifying and classifying risk and risk levels within oil and gas exploration and production operations based on the results from a trial project at an Australian LNG producer. This risk identification should be done in addition to the existing health and safety approaches. Nowadays, the workers in oil and gas operations use computer systems for managing their work, from isolations and permits to job hazard analyses. The equipment used in oil and gas exploration and production is producing large volumes of data. And external sources of information, such as the BoM, provide context on the conditions in which work is performed. Bringing these sources of data together and using automated statistical tools to identify and classify risk created a new perspective on the risk profile of activities of oil and gas operations. This enables organisations to pinpoint their risk-mitigation strategies where it will really make a difference.

SUMMARYRapid and wide dispersal of passengers after flights makes investigation of flight-related outbreaks challenging. An outbreak of Salmonella Heidelberg was identified in a group of Irish travellers returning from Tanzania. Additional international cases sharing the same flight were identified. Our aim was to determine the source and potential vehicles of infection. Case-finding utilized information exchange using experts' communication networks and national surveillance systems. Demographic, clinical and food history information was collected. Twenty-five additional cases were identified from Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, USA and Canada. We conducted a case-control study which indicated a significant association between illness and consumption of milk tart (OR 10·2) and an egg dish (OR 6) served on-board the flight. No food consumed before the flight was associated with illness. Cases from countries other than Ireland provided supplementary information that facilitated the identification of likely vehicles of infection. Timely, committed international collaboration is vital in such investigations.

Résumé :
Abstract A simple method was developed for fast identification of pectin, based on a recombinant endopectate lyase cloned from Aspergillus niger. When pectin was demethylated and treated with pectate lyase, β-elimination occurred, resulting in a double bond between C-4 and C-5 in the galacturonic acid residue of the released nonreducing end. The formation of double bonds produced an increase in light absorption, which was detected at 235 nm. The assay was tested on pectin of different origins (apple, orange, sugar beet, sunflower, celery, lemon), pectin derivatives (amidated pectin), and speciality types such as low molecular weight and low %DE (degree of esterification, percentage of galacturonic acid groups esterified with methanol) pectin. The highest response was given by pectate (pectin with %DE<5) and the lowest by pectin extracted from sugar beet. No other gums (carboxymethylcellulose, carrageenan, locust bean gum, tragacanth, gellan, tamarind, xanthan, amylogum, sodium alginate, or agar) gave any response. Members of IPPA (International Pectin Producers Association) have evaluated the validity of the assay in a ring test. All members of the Association were able to identify pectin from other gums in a blind test. The method can replace more laborious and ambiguous identification tests which exist today.

Résumé :
BRICS is a relatively new phenomenon in modern international political and economic life, gaining momentum and attracting more and more lawyers’ attention. The central issues in this case are, firstly, the legal nature of the group of five states itself — Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and secondly, the place, nature, content of the principles on which international cooperation of this entity is based. Accordingly, the paper considers these issues through the prism of theoretical analysis from the standpoint of international legal science, in which the identification of the legal nature of the interaction of the BRICS countries is not only a prerequisite, but also, in essence, the foundation for solving the problem of legal qualification of the principles of cooperation between them. Thus, it answers the question on the relationship of the latter with other principles in the system of international law. For this purpose, the study adopts two alternative options: the status of an international institution if it is established that BRICS has features of an international organization or integration association; and its recognition as a paraorganization if none of such features exist.

Résumé :
ObjectiveIdentify patterns in the nature and characteristics of potential concussive events (PCEs) in football.MethodsThis study analysed the incidence and characteristics of PCEs that occurred during the 2014 and 2018 Fédération Internationale de Football Association World Cups, and the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup. PCEs were defined as direct head collision incidents resulting in the athlete being unable to immediately resume play for at least 5 sec following impact.ResultsA total of 218 incidents were identified in 179 matches (1.22 per match, 36.91 per 1000 hours of exposure). The most common mechanism of PCE was elbow-to-head (28.7%, n=68). The frontal region was the most frequently affected location of impact with 22.8% (n=54).ConclusionOur study defined the identification, prevalence and nature of PCEs in professional international soccer tournaments. Our findings indicate the different contexts and mechanisms of head contact and contact to different regions of the head can be associated with varying signs of concussion. The results highlight targets for future injury prevention strategies.

Résumé :
Introduction:Internationally, Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) activities are conducted under the International Criminal Police Organization system for handling a large number of bodies during disasters. However, the police have taken the initiative and commissioned clinicians and dentists to estimate the cause of death and identify the deceased, under a unique system in Japan. In this presentation, we examine the problems in the current DVI activities in Japan through DVI training.Method:We held DVI training sessions three times in preparation for the occurrence of a large-scale disaster in Chiba Prefecture with Chiba Prefectural Police, Chiba Medical Association, Chiba Dental Association, local government staff in Chiba, and forensic staff in other institutions. We conducted desktop trainings using paper dolls, under a simulation of an aircraft disaster, and a natural disaster such as flooding and landslides caused by typhoon damage in the third session. After the training, participants reflected on their activities through a questionnaire. Results:In accordance with the conventional method, the police officers numbered the bodies, photographed and checked their personal belongings, followed by the estimation of the cause of death with a doctor, the preparation of documents. Subsequently, dentists collected postmortem findings and matched with antemortem data. On the other hand, police officers and local government staff interviewed the bereaved family members under simulations. In the post-survey, participants were generally satisfied with the training, but some said that it was difficult to understand the activities of other professions. Conclusion:In Japan, where there are no DVI teams, this training was a good opportunity for all the job categories involved in DVI activities to meet each other. While the activities conducted by each profession helped to improve skills, the collaboration among professions was poor. We would like to improve the quality of DVI activities by introducing a team system for collaboration among multiple professions.

Résumé :
Abstract Background and Purpose. Disability or limitations in human functioning are universal experiences that concern all people. Physical therapists aim to improve functioning and prevent disability. With the approval of the new International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), we can now rely on a globally recognized framework and classification to be used in different health care situations by all health care professionals in multidisciplinary teams. The objective of this study was to identify ICF categories that describe the most relevant and common patient problems managed by physical therapists in acute, rehabilitation, and community health care situations taking into account 3 major groups of health conditions: musculoskeletal, neurological, and internal. Subjects. The subjects were physical therapists who were identified as possible participants by the heads of physical therapy departments who were members of the Swiss Association of Physical Therapy Department Heads or who were recruited from the membership of the Swiss Association of Physiotherapy. Methods. A consensus-building, 3-round, electronic-mail survey with 9 groups of physical therapists was conducted using the Delphi technique. Results. Two hundred sixty-three physical therapists participated in at least one round of the Delphi exercise. They had consensus levels of 80% or higher for categories in all ICF components (Body Functions, Body Structures, Activities and Participation, and Environmental Factors 1 and 2). Discussion and Conclusion. This study is a first step toward identifying a list of intervention categories relevant for physical therapy according to the ICF. The ICF, designed as a common language for multidisciplinary use, is also a very helpful framework for defining the core competence for the physical therapy profession.

Résumé :
One of the important goals of structural health monitoring is to identify structural damage using measured responses. However, such damage identification is sensitive to noises in the response measurements. Even a small change in the measurement may result in a significantly biased damage assessment. The goal of this paper is to expand the multiobjective optimization approach developed for robust damage identification in order to facilitate its applications to more realistic bridge damage identification problems. Specifically, a benchmark problem on highway bridges, developed under the auspices of International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS), is investigated. Various issues regarding sensor noises, multiple measurements, and loading scenarios are addressed to improve the robustness of bridge damage identification. A major finding from this study is that the stochastic process of Pareto optimal solutions obtained in a single run not only captures the actual damage locations successfully but also provides useful information such as damage-detected ratio on the potential candidates for damage to be inspected on site. Moreover, it is shown through the success, failure, and partial detection rates that the robustness of the proposed approach can be improved by using appropriate excitation scenarios and multiple sets of measurement data.

Résumé :
Structural modal parameters can be identified using both output responses and input excitations or only using output responses of structures. When the input excitations are known, some frequency response functions (FRF) can be obtained and further used to accurately identify the modal frequencies and mode shapes of structures, but the identified modal damping ratio is often lack of reliability. Under ambient excitations, the peak picking method (PP) is often used to quickly identify the modal parameters of structures, but some vibration modes are missed sometimes, particularly when the dense modes or subjective errors may appear around the peaks picked. Modal parameters can be identified using the stochastic subspace identification method (SSI) based on statistical data, however, the SSI method easily produces false modes in practice. In order to compensate the deficiencies of SSI method, the PP and the SSI methods are combined to identify the modal parameters of the benchmark structure which proposed by the International Association for Structure Control and the task group of American Society Civil Engineers (IASC-ASCE) in this paper. The illustrated results show that this combination method can accurately identify the modal parameters of the benchmark structure with some application prospects.

Résumé :
Crown rot (CR), caused by various Fusarium species, is a major disease in many cereal-growing regions worldwide. Fusarium culmorum is one of the most important species, which can cause significant yield losses in wheat. A set of 126 advanced International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) spring bread wheat lines were phenotyped against CR for field crown, greenhouse crown and stem, and growth room crown resistance scores. Of these, 107 lines were genotyped using Diversity Array Technology (DArT) markers to identify quantitative trait loci linked to CR resistance by genome-wide association study. Results of the population structure analysis grouped the accessions into three sub-groups. Genome wide linkage disequilibrium was large and declined on average within 20 cM (centi-Morgan) in the panel. General linear model (GLM), mixed linear model (MLM), and naïve models were tested for each CR score and the best model was selected based on quarantine-quarantine plots. Three marker-trait associations (MTAs) were identified linked to CR resistance; two of these on chromosome 3B were associated with field crown scores, each explaining 11.4% of the phenotypic variation and the third MTA on chromosome 2D was associated with greenhouse stem score and explained 11.6% of the phenotypic variation. Together, these newly identified loci provide opportunity for wheat breeders to exploit in enhancing CR resistance via marker-assisted selection or deployment in genomic selection in wheat breeding programs.

Résumé :
The genetic determinants of osteoporosis remain poorly understood, and there is a large unmet need for new treatments in our ageing society. Thus, new approaches for gene discovery in skeletal disease are required to complement the current genome-wide association studies in human populations. The International Knockout Mouse Consortium (IKMC) and the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) provide such an opportunity. The IKMC generates knockout mice representing each of the known protein-coding genes in C57BL/6 mice and, as part of the IMPC initiative, the Origins of Bone and Cartilage Disease project identifies mutants with significant outlier skeletal phenotypes. This initiative will add value to data from large human cohorts and provide a new understanding of bone and cartilage pathophysiology, ultimately leading to the identification of novel drug targets for the treatment of skeletal disease.

Résumé :
An observation of the dynamics of the citizen participation of young people defined as Muslims who frequent Madrid’s mosques and squares raises the possibility that these young Spanish Muslims are developing their own civic/political participation as citizens and natives. This indicates a particular religious/cultural identification disassociated from the predefined religious view that characterizes them as actors in a process born out of their aspirations as citizens. For the most part, children of immigrants share an everyday experience in which they are defined by their religion, while also expressing their desire to break away from labels and distance themselves from the identification of Islam as experienced in immigrant communities, institutionalized Islam in mosques, associations and cultural centres, and the Islam of convert activism. The journey from the mosque to the town square is one taken time and again by these young people—followed during a multisited ethnography involving six years of research—that clears the way for a religiosity that is closely tied to the everyday experiences of young people continuously hearing about other situations (e.g., the war in Syria, the protests during the so-called Arab Spring, the 15 May Movement). In the process of differentiation and confrontation with Islamic people in the Spanish context, new association-building and new activism have emerged, with some connections to European youth associations and a growing commitment to global causes like the fight against Islamophobia and against international terrorism (the ‘Je suis Charlie’ movement) and feminist causes (#MeToo).

Résumé :
Purpose of the study: People who tend towards political extremism are often characterized by a rather simplistic black-and-white worldview of their social reality. It results from a psychological tendency to perceive and interpret the world in a certain way. The hypothesis underlies the current study is that this tendency is manifested in a thinking style defined as “dichotomous thinking”. That is, the propensity to perceive and interpret the world in terms of binary options (i.e., “black or white”, “good or bad”, or “all or nothing”). Methodology: The study was conducted in Israel, during the 2019 election campaign, which began an ongoing political crisis that led to deep polarization between the two main political camps in Israel. Participants (N=312) completed online survey which included a demographic questionnaire, and measures of political identification and dichotomous thinking style. Results: The study’s results indicated both linear and quadradic associations between dichotomous thinking and political identification. That is, dichotomous thinking style was associated both to a political tendency to the right, and in general, to a tendency to political extremism, on the right or on the left. Conclusion: These results provide empirical support for theoretical models who suggested that a U-shaped pattern of association exists between cognitive rigidity and political identification, but that the association is stronger at the right end of the political spectrum
