Résumé :
Just as the provision of goods in the physical world necessitates the involvement of numerous entities that act as intermediaries, the internet supply chain involves several online intermediaries that provide the infrastructure via which customers can exchange information. These can include but are not limited to, telecom and internet service providers, web hosting, Internet search engines, social networking, instant messaging, and so on. It is now impossible to consider life without the internet. The internet, which connects billions of people globally, is a key pillar of the modern information society for creating and trading material. The way we connect and share information has changed, with many negative consequences, and it's not every day that intermediaries are neutral. The judicial process has continued to shape and solidify legislation relating to intermediaries over the years. In India section 79, of the Information technology Act, 2000 governs intermediaries (service providers), under this law no person providing any service as a network service provider shall be liable, rules or regulations made thereunder for any third-party information or data made available by him if he proves that the offense or contravention was committed without his knowledge or that he had exercised all due diligence to prevent the commission of such offense or contravention(the information technology act, 2000, 2000). In 2017, UNESCO published the book “Fostering Freedom Online: The Role of Internet Intermediaries”. It aimed to shed light on how internet intermediaries both foster and restrict freedom of expression across a range of jurisdictions, circumstances, technologies, and business models. (MacKinnon Rebecca et al., 2015). In Ghana, the (Data Protection Act, 2012) was borne by the constitution to protect the privacy of the individual and personal data by regulating the processing of personal information, providing the process to obtain, hold, use or disclose personal information, and for related matters. Serving as a check to these internet intermediaries. In the (electronic transactions act, 2008 (ACT 772)), section 90 is dedicated to the Liability of service providers and intermediaries. “Liability” means that intermediaries must prevent the occurrence of unlawful or harmful activity by users of their services. Failure to do so may result in legal orders compelling the intermediary to act or expose the intermediary to civil or criminal legal action (APC). Résumé :
We analyze the welfare implications of consumer data sharing, and restrictions to that sharing, in the context of online targeted advertising. Targeting technologies offer firms the ability to reach desired audiences through intermediary platforms. The platforms run auctions in real time to display ads on internet sites, leveraging consumers’ personal information collected online to personalize the ads. The online advertising industry posits that targeted advertising benefits advertising firms (that is, merchants who want to target ads to the desired consumers), consumers who see ads for preferred products, and the intermediary platforms that match consumers with firms. However, the claims that targeted advertising benefits all players involved have not been fully vetted in the literature. We develop an analytical model to analyze the economic and welfare implications of targeting technologies for those three players under alternative consumer information regimes. The regimes differ in the type and amount of consumer data available to the intermediary and to the advertising firms, and reflect the presence or absence of technological or regulatory restrictions to personal information flows. We find evidence of incentive misalignment among the players, as the intermediary prefers to share only a subset of consumer information with firms, whereas advertising firms prefer having complete information about the consumers. As such, a strategic intermediary with the ability to control which information is shared during the auction can have an incentive to use only the information that maximizes its payoff, overlooking the interests of both advertising firms and consumers. The information regimes that maximize consumer welfare vastly differ depending on consumers’ heterogeneity along two dimensions: a horizontal dimension, capturing consumer’s heterogeneity in product preferences; and a vertical dimension, capturing consumers’ heterogeneity in purchase power. Consumers prefer none of their personal information to be used for targeting only in limited circumstances. Otherwise, consumers are either indifferent or prefer only specific types of information to be used for targeting.

Seekers of information in libraries either go through a librarian intermediary or they help themselves. When they go through librarians they must develop their questions through four levels of need, referred to here as the visceral, conscious, formalized, and compromised needs. In his pre-search interview with an information-seeker the reference librarian attempts to help him arrive at an understanding of his “compromised” need by determining: (1) the subject of his interest; (2) his motivation; (3) his personal characteristics; (4) the relationship of the inquiry to file organization; and (5) anticipated answers. The author contends that research is needed into the techniques of conducting this negotiation between the user and the reference librarian.

Résumé :
<em>The implementation of good corporate governance (GCG) is the main foundation of companies that needs to run their business activities for a long period. Along with the development of technology and information, the implementation of GCG is increasingly needed for internet intermediary platform providers in carrying out their business activities. The implementation of GCG principles can also reduce the risk of failure in protecting privacy of personal data on the platform. The related principles are transparency, accountability, and responsibility principle by taking into account a number of laws and regulations such as Law No. 11 of 2008 as amended by Law No. of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE Law), Government Regulation No. 71 of 2019 (GR 71/2019), and Ministry of Communication and Information Regulation No. 20 of 2016. This research will use a normative juridical research method that takes into account the provisions of the legislation and other relevant documents. As a result, the implementation of GCG is not fully implemented in the case of failure in protecting privacy of personal data in internet intermediary company (PT Bukalapak), thus the legal attempt that can be applied to manifest the company’s liability refers back to ITE Law, GR 71/2019, and Ministry of Communication and Information Regulation 20/2016 which are compensation and administrative sanctions. </em>

Résumé :
States can undertake innovation system network-focused actions to enhance their entrepreneurial networks. Actions directed primarily at creating transitions in their innovation network structure include: identifying the components and connectivity of the innovation network (persons, entities, businesses, etc.) and communicating with the network; establishing intermediary organizations (academies, roundtables, councils, etc.); establishing interfacial organizations to enhance information diffusion; and creating and supporting an Informatics HUB to facilitate network functions. Actions to enhance information access and communications within the innovation network include: ensuring local access to global information; supporting personal and business interactions within and outside of the local innovation system; supporting creation and maintenance of missing databases; supporting recruitment of talent in gap areas; and utilizing knowledge analytics to identify local overlaps with the global knowledge base. These are relatively inexpensive, but nonetheless challenging, alternatives to firm-level direct payments or incentives typically used by local governments. This Perspective briefly sketches the rationale behind these and related recommendations.

Résumé :
This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of the need for social acceptance in relation to the relationship between gender roles and sexual quality. The study was conducted with 576 participants aged 18 to 65 years who were married or in a relationship. Due to the pandemic, the scales were made available to participants through online platforms. The Personal Information Questionnaire was used to obtain participants' demographic data, the Gender Roles Scale (GRS) to measure their gender perceptions, the New Sexual Satisfaction Scale (NSS) to determine the quality of their sexuality, the Social Approval Need Scale (SANS) to determine their social approval needs. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. According to ANOVA and t-test results, demographic variables differed according to gender roles, sexuality quality, and social approval needs. A positive and negative correlation was found between gender roles and the sexuality quality variable with social approval. As a result of the intermediary variable analysis, it was found that the need for social approval plays an intermediary role in the relationship between gender roles and sexuality quality. The findings were discussed in the context of the results in the field.

Résumé :
Mobile devices offer convenient communication capabilities and have the potential to create intermediary support for ergonomically challenged users. With the global proliferation of increasing longevity, assisting the elderly and those living with impediments through human engineering and computing technology is pivotal to biotechnological attainment. To remain independently empowered, seamless integrations through efficient affable interfaces are required to provide sedulous location-independent and appliance-sensitive media viewing for the user. The Ambient Interface Design (AID) system assists with finding personal preferences and provides a synchronisation framework, coordinating connectivity across various environmentally distributed devices via sensor data mapping. Cooperative interface communication coupled with context awareness will be abstracted to a representation that facilitates optimisation and customisation to these displays. To overcome personal challenges in the efficient selection and acquisition of online information, AID mediates between the needs of the user and the constraints of the technology to provide a singular customised encapsulation of ‘ability preference and device’ for each authenticated member. A particular emphasis is the application of a human-centered design ethos.

Crowdfunding platforms can be used by individuals both to launch fundraising campaigns and to invest their savings. Crowdfunding is a funding channel through which personal or professional projects of individuals and small businesses can be directly funded by a multitude of entities. The meeting between supply and demand takes place on online platforms that provide information on individual projects and manage the flows of money. Crowdfunding is an alternative financing channel to that represented by banks or other financial intermediaries. The actual financing of a project, in fact, does not depend on the evaluation made by a single intermediary based on its own financing strategies but on the ability of the proponents to convince a sufficient number of investors to risk their funds in direct support of the initiative.

Résumé :
Genomic medicine is an emerging practice that followed the completion of the Human Genome Project and that considers genomic information about an individual in the provision of their clinical care. Large and start-up direct-to-consumer genetic testing companies like Ancestry, 23andMe, Luna DNA, and Nebula Genomics have capitalized on findings from the Human Genome Project by offering genetic health testing services to consumers without a clinical intermediary. Genomic medicine is thus further propelled by unprecedented supply and demand market forces driven by direct-to-consumer genetic testing companies. As government entities like the National Human Genome Research Institute question how genomics can be implemented into routine medical practice to prevent disease and improve the health of all members of a diverse community, we believe that stakeholders must first examine how and scenarios in which stakeholders can become motivated to share or receive genomic information. In this commentary, we discuss consumers three scenarios: satisfying personal curiosity, providing a social good, and receiving a financial return. We examine these motivations based on recent events and current avenues through which have engaged or can engage in genomic data sharing via private, secure (e.g. centralized genomic databases and de-centralized platforms like blockchain) and public, unsecure platforms (e.g. open platforms that are publicly available online). By examining these scenarios, we can likely determine how various stakeholders, such as consumers, might prefer to extract value from genomic information and how privacy preferences among those stakeholders might vary depending on how they seek to use or share genomic information. From there, one can recommend best practices to promote transparency and uphold privacy standards and expectations among stakeholders engaged in genomic medicine.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine which individual traits of financial advisors influence portfolio transfer speed when a financial advisor recommends investors to migrate to a new financial intermediary. Design/methodology/approach With reference to the years 2014–2016, one of the three leading Italian tied-agent banks provided the authors with an exclusive and unique data set containing information regarding the financial advisors who had become tied agents, transferring their existing portfolios from their previous banks (traditional or tied-agent banks). The authors observed the ability of the migrant financial advisor in successfully transferring the entire portfolio declared within 12 months of observation. To investigate empirically which personal traits of financial advisors determine their success in the rapid transfer of clients’ portfolios to a new financial intermediary, the authors applied a Cox proportional hazards model. Findings The authors find that factors such as age, type of bank of origin and size of the managed financial portfolio positively affect the speed transfer. Practical implications The obtained results may be interesting for guiding recruiting policies of financial intermediaries. Social implications Regulators should closely examine the phenomenon analyzed in this paper to avoid conflict of interests. Originality/value The literature on this topic is scarce, mainly due to the lack of available data. This paper represents an original contribution to open a new field of research.

Résumé :
AbstractThis paper focuses on Internet intermediaries’ civil liabilities for contents produced by third parties. By comparing Chinese law with the laws of the US and EU, it argues that the US law grants broad civil immunity to Internet intermediaries, and the EU and China restrict civil immunity to intermediaries but in different ways. This is on account of how, in the US, Internet intermediaries enjoy civil immunity as long as they do not become content providers. In the EU, aside from mere conduit intermediaries, all other intermediaries are subject to the notice-and-take-down mechanism before enjoying civil immunity. In contrast, in China, even after an intermediary properly follows the notice-and-take-down mechanism, it may still be subject to civil liability under the Chinese Consumer Law. Further, this paper argues that the policy priority for the law for Internet intermediaries varies fundamentally in the three jurisdictions. The US law for intermediaries’ liability focuses on protecting freedom of speech. The EU emphasizes the protection of personal information as a fundamental human right. Contrastingly, Chinese policy priority is unclear. Consumer protection has boomed in public popularity and increasingly attracted the attentions of the legislature and judiciary in China. However, it is doubtable that the protection of consumers can provide a prevailing policy support for Chinese law in the same way as freedom of speech and the protection of personal information do under the laws of the US and the EU, respectively.

Résumé :
The sharing economy has allowed idle resources to be used again and is known as a model for the new economy. Advances in network technology have allowed the scale of the sharing economy to be expanded through digital platforms. To our best knowledge, no studies in the literature have explored a pet boarding platform for the sharing economy. This research selected the emerging pet care industry as its scope and took the Rover.com pet boarding digital platform, with the highest market share in the world, as the research object for an intensive case study. Three types of secondary data analysis were used: industry profile analysis, case information, and papers and journals. The business model and value proposition of the platform summarizes the key to the success of digital platforms, which is expected to be helpful to entrepreneurs who want to create a sharing economy marketplace. The research results showed that the sharing economy needs to use digital platforms as a matching intermediary between supply and demand to establish a personal-to-personal transaction pattern and it also needs digital platforms to establish a sense of trust and a guarantee mechanism for participants in the sharing economy. For the digital platform to be profitable, it must identify the platform’s unique value proposition and business model, and set up monitoring of transaction parties and evaluation functions, as well as insurance systems and digital platform IT support.

Résumé :
Statement of the Problem. The author investigates the problem of regulating the procedure of revealing the legal status of the participants of remote-digital investment transactions performed in the information space. Goals and Tasks of the Research. In remote-digital investment transactions a natural person interacts with a legal entity. Often the transaction involves a subject of special legal capacity. The activity of professional securities participants is licensed. Such subjects are included by the Bank of Russia in special registers, which, in the author’s opinion, is not much different from licensing. Although credit organizations dominate in the composition of investment intermediaries, other types of economic companies also participate, so the establishment of the legal status of the said legal entity as a proper party to the transaction is of great importance for the investment turnover. Methods. In spite of the fact that the procedure for determining the legitimacy of an investment intermediary is regulated in sufficient detail, the author, using a systematic approach to the subject of research, applied a set of general scientific methods (dialectical, hypothetic and deductive, methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization and empirical description) and special scientific methods of knowledge (comparative and legal, dogmatic, structural and functional) for detailed analysis of legislative approach to defining the legal status of professional participants of securities market. Results. The approaches to the legal regulation of establishing the legitimacy of participation in the transaction of the investment intermediary, the recipient of the investment, the private investor itself are highlighted. The conclusion that the establishment of a proper party to the transaction of an investment intermediary – a legal entity – is conditioned by the need to check the availability and validity of its license with the website of the Bank of Russia has been substantiated. The establishment of a proper party to the transaction – the recipient of the investment – a legal entity requires a thorough examination of its website on the Internet. A number of proposals are made on the procedure for determining, by means of modern computer technologies, the eligibility of a citizen – private investor to participate in a remote-digital investment transaction on the basis of his personal account on the GOSSLUGI portal

Résumé :
With the development of the Internet, college students suffer from network fraud in many layers, which has aroused widespread concern in the society. Based on the questionnaire survey data of the current situation of college students suffering from online fraud in financial and economic colleges, this paper uses structural equation model to analyze the relationship between social experience, prevention awareness and college students suffering from online fraud. The study found that: (1) social experience not only has a significant direct effect on college students suffering from online fraud, but also has an indirect impact on college students suffering from online fraud through the pursuit of economic independence. (2) Prevention awareness has no significant direct effect on college students suffering from online fraud. Personal information protection plays a complete intermediary role between prevention awareness and college students suffering from online fraud. Based on the research results, it is proposed to strengthen the ideological and political education of college students, improve the awareness of risk prevention, build a long-term mechanism and link the comprehensive management of departments to prevent college students from suffering from online fraud and promote the healthy growth of college students.

It confront users who share the same passion for things they like and facilitates them a private room chat as a medium to get closer to each other. However, not all users end up in a romantic relationship. Therefore, this study will discuss what factors can affect a person's attraction to other people that allow them to establish a relationship. This study uses a netnographic method with a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the main factors that influence a person to want to have a relationship with another person are due to the similarity of personal characteristics and having known or been close to that person before thus enabling them to establish relationships.

Résumé :
To reduce the visual workload produced by information systems and their use during vehicle operation, we propose a user-adaptive, reconfigurable vehicle information interface with a reconfigured navigation sequence and reshaped operating switches (buttons). Our proposed user-adaptive interface consists of user modeling using a hidden Markov model (HMM) and reconfiguration of a preferred navigation sequence. The interface learns a user's navigation patterns based on accumulated navigation sequences. The navigation sequence with the highest likelihood is recommended as preferred among possible sequences, and the navigation sequence is reconfigured omitting intermediate steps. The reconfigurable keypad we propose reflects personal differences because information is customized through the physical reconfiguration of switches corresponding to recommended contents. Information is displayed tactilely and visually together through tactile and visual displays. To analyze the effect of navigation sequence and switch reconfiguration, we conducted experiments using two examples. Experimental results showed that reconfiguring the navigation sequence and switches reduced navigation reaction time.

Information Competencies for Students in Design Disciplines compiled, for the first time in the US, a list of core information literacy skills for design students. Divided into basic, intermediate, and advanced skills in each design discipline, it helped to define and delimit information literacy skills in these subjects, and were intended to facilitate a systematic means of integrating information literacy skills into the core curriculum of design courses. Closely related to the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, Information Competencies were written by a group of art and design librarians (Jeanne Brown, Jane Carlin, Thomas Caswell, Edith Crowe, Maya Gervits, Susan Lewis, Alan Michelson, Barbara Opar and Jennifer Parker) and published by ARLIS/NA in 2006 (rev. 2007). This article is personal reflection by one of its authors on its legacy ten years after publication.

Résumé :
The personal thermal comfort model is used to design and control the thermal environment and predict the thermal comfort responses of individuals rather than reflect the average response of the population. Previous individual thermal comfort models were mainly focused on a single material environment. However, the channels for individual thermal comfort were various in real life. Therefore, a new personal thermal comfort evaluation method is constructed by means of a reliable decision-based fuzzy classification model from two views. In this study, a two-view thermal comfort fuzzy classification model was constructed using the interpretable zero-order Takagi–Sugeno–Kang (TSK) fuzzy classifier as the basic training subblock, and it is the first time an optimized machine learning algorithm to study the interpretable thermal comfort model is used. The relevant information (including basic information, sampling conditions, physiological parameters, physical environment, environmental perception, and self-assessment parameters) was obtained from 157 subjects in experimental chambers with two different materials. This proposed method has the following features: (1) The training samples in the input layer contain the feature data under experimental conditions with two different materials. The training models constructed from the training samples under these two conditions complement and restrict each other and improve the accuracy of the whole model training. (2) In the rule layer of the training unit, interpretable fuzzy rules are designed to solve the existing layers with the design of short rules. The output of the intermediate layer of the fuzzy classifier and the fuzzy rules are difficult to explain, which is problematic. (3) Better decision-making knowledge information is obtained in both the rule layer of the single-view training model and in the two-view fusion model. In addition, the feature mapping space is generated according to the degree of contribution of the decision-making information from the two single training views, which not only preserves the feature information of the source training samples to a large extent but also improves the training accuracy of the model and enhances the generalization performance of the training model. Experimental results indicated that TMV-TSK-FC has better classification performance and generalization performance than several related state-of-the-art non-fuzzy classifiers applied in this study. Significantly, compared with the single view fuzzy classifier, the training accuracies and testing accuracies of TMV-TSK-FC are improved by 3–11% and 2–9%, respectively. In addition, the experimental results also showed good semantic interpretability of TMV-TSK-FC.

Résumé :
Abstract Objectives To determine the impact of tethered personal health record (PHR) use on patient engagement and intermediate health outcomes among patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods Adult CAD patients ( N = 200) were enrolled in this prospective, quasi-experimental observational study. Each patient received a PHR account and training on its use. PHRs were populated with information from patient electronic medical records, hosted by a Health Information Exchange. Intermediate health outcomes including blood pressure, body mass index, and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) were evaluated through electronic medical record review or laboratory tests. Trends in patient activation measure® (PAM) were determined through three surveys conducted at baseline, 6 and 12 months. Frequency of PHR use data was collected and used to classify participants into groups for analysis: Low , Active , and Super users. Results There was no statistically significant improvement in patient engagement as measured by PAM scores during the study period. HbA1c levels improved significantly in the Active and Super user groups at 6 months; however, no other health outcome measures improved significantly. Higher PAM scores were associated with lower body mass index and lower HbA1c, but there was no association between changes in PAM scores and changes in health outcomes. Use of the PHR health diary increased significantly following PHR education offered at the 6-month study visit and an elective group refresher course. Conclusions The study findings show that PHR use had minimal impact on intermediate health outcomes and no significant impact on patient engagement among CAD patients.

Résumé :
This article proposes a soft skills framework. Successful employment of IT graduates in the IT industry depends essentially on the level of soft skills. Five soft skills groups are proposed: management, communication, personal effectiveness, strategic management and information management. Each group contains a specific list of skills and competencies that a graduate of the university's IT profession should possess. Indicators were developed to measure the level of soft skills development and a rating scale was proposed. A model for forming and developing the soft skills of future IT professionals has been developed. It includes: target, procedural, substantivemethodological, technological and diagnostic-resultant components. According to the developed model, the stages of formation of "soft skills" for future IT-specialists are grounded: preparatory (formation of communication and management skills), professional (skills of personal efficiency), integral (skills of strategic management, personal efficiency and information management). Content, methods, forms, cloud tools and services are defined for each stage. The effectiveness of the application of blended learning technology, which combines the use of project methodology, forms of individual and group work with the use of cloud tools for the implementation of collective and individual projects, is substantiated. In the course of the pedagogical experiment, soft skills were identified, the effectiveness of the developed model of software development of skills was proved. Soft skills, the level of development of which is most intensively explored, are explored. These are soft skills such as: understanding your own responsibility to the team while working on a project, being able to present the project to investors or your own team, working with colleagues and performing tasks independently, clearly formulating their needs and expectations for the team and the environment, the ability to unite the group and build effective team interaction to solve certain tasks, to form a communication system in the team using answers other cloud services, the ability to plan long-term based on the intermediate goals of the project, the willingness to delegate its authority to other team members, the ability to quickly identify important and minor, solve problems more effectively, more carefully and efficiently handle different tasks.

Résumé :
Since current key management schemes are mainly designed for static and planar networks, they are not very suitable for the layer-cluster wireless sensor networks (WSNs), a WSN layer-cluster key management scheme based on quadratic polynomial and Lagrange interpolation polynomial is proposed, in which the main idea of this scheme along the research line of broadcast identity authentication, session key, group key, network key and personal key. Specifically, authentication key can be established on the basis of Fourier series for identity authentication; session key is established by a multiple asymmetric quadratic polynomial, in which session key information is encrypted by the authentication key to ensure the security of intermediate interactive information; based on the former two keys, group key is established on the basis of Lagrange interpolation polynomial, in which the nodes of the cluster are not directly involved; the generation and management of network key is similar to the group key, in which the establishment idea is to regard the BS and all cluster heads as a group; the generation and management of personal key is also similar to the group key, the difference is that the personal key can be obtained by cluster nodes through getting the Lagrange interpolation polynomial coefficients based on their own random key information. It is analyzed that the proposed layer-cluster key management scheme can guarantee the identity of network nodes firstly through forward authentication and reverse authentication, and session key, group key and network key will guarantee the independence of the keys’ management and avoids the problem of single point failure compared with LEAP protocol, and personal key will guarantee the privacy of network.

Résumé :
Objective: Our interest in patient attitudes and beliefs and how they contribute to health and health seeking behaviors is based on growing interest in fostering more patient-centered care. This is particularly relevant for cancer screening in women, where the procedures may be viewed as deeply personal and emotionally invasive. There is convincing evidence that health attitudes and beliefs are strong associates of cancer screening among women. The goal of this paper is to examine if accessibility and use of personal health information (PHI) is a positive predictive of cancer related health detection behaviors among United States women. This study is relevant and timely considering the growing focus on prevention in patient-centered care delivery. Methods: Using data from the 2017 Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS), this paper employed multivariable path analysis to investigate whether PHI use is related to engaged women’s health detection behaviors, and if this relationship is mediated by self-perceived health status and patient attitudes regarding confidence in their self-care abilities. Results: This study found that PHI use worked directly on health detection behaviors for intermediate levels of health information only. Our findings also suggest that patient attitudes may only act as a mediator at low levels of information use and when both confidence in self-care abilities and self-assessed health status are considered simultaneously. Conclusions: As prevention continues to be a key focus of health care, efforts promoting enhanced population health are critically important. With greater expansion of patient portals, health systems and providers are expecting access to greater PHI will promote increased engagement by patients in their self-health. The results of our research suggest that PHI is positive for patients up until a point and that health care delivery professionals may wish to assess the amount and type of information made readily available to the patients they serve related to breast and cervical cancer screenings.

Résumé :
In recent years, enterprise applications have begun to migrate from a local hosting to a cloud provider and may have established a business-to-business relationship with each other manually. Adaptation of existing applications requires substantial implementation changes in individual architectural components. On the other hand, users may store their Personal Identifiable Information (PII) in the cloud environment so that cloud services may access and use it on demand. Even if cloud services specify their privacy policies, we cannot guarantee that they follow their policies and will not (accidentally) transfer PII to another party. In this paper, we present Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) as a trusted Identity and Access Management with two requirements: Firstly, IDaaS adapts trust between cloud services on demand. We move the trust relationship and identity propagation out of the application implementation and model them as a security topology. When the business comes up with a new e-commerce scenario, IDaaS uses the security topology to adapt a platform-specific security infrastructure for the given business scenario at runtime. Secondly, we protect the confidentiality of PII in federated security domains. We propose our Purpose-based Encryption to protect the disclosure of PII from intermediary entities in a business transaction and from untrusted hosts. Our solution is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation and involves the least user interaction to prevent identity theft via the human link. The implementation can be easily adapted to existing Identity Management systems, and the performance is fast.

Résumé :
Under the on-going globalization economic trend, for international businesses that transports raw material, intermediary goods, and end products across borders, establishing and sustaining an efficient supply chain is the most critical part of their business strategy to succeed. But how do managers know that the firms supply chain is performing efficiently and effectively? Continuous measurement to obtain feedback and implementation of improvements based on the retrieved information is the answer to that. Balanced scorecard, which was developed by Kaplan and Norton, was a milestone for performance evaluation in supply chain management, which asserted in measuring performance not just from financial perspective, but to determine by focusing on the customer, internal process, and learning & growth. Since then to present, the scorecard has been evolved to further generations to correspond with the rapid changing economic situation. The following case study on Danone Dumex Sdn Bhd was conducted on a purpose to appraise a practical international business supply chain by using first generation balanced scorecard as a gauge. Danone Dumex was chosen as evaluation target due to the nature of business, which is a manufacturing firm that requires multinational logistics. For the research method, company report was reviewed, personal interview to a supply chain director was performed, and extensive information sources were revised and filtered. From the assessment, for customer, financial, and internal process perspective, Danone Dumex had an outstanding performance. This is attributable to their business strategy of customer above all, and based on that, the firm has established a prominent standard in quality control and market forecasting system, and implemented to its supply chain by utilizing customized SAP. Meanwhile, their less emphasis on learning and growth perspective should be reconsidered in a long-run, as its competitors are improving on the same direction as Danone Dumex is heading.

Résumé :
The article analyzes the phenomena of a new culture - digital, requiring the integration of approaches and methods of the humanities, social and information, computational sciences, since in a digital civilization there is a reassembly of all norms and values of «ordinary» sociality. The new posthuman digital sociality is associated with the digital transformation of the personality not only at the level of neo-professions, but also in the semantic field and in the system of values. The article discusses the concept of «digital simulacrum» as a pseudosign that replaces reality by means of digital simulation using special software. The personality refuses reality, including the reality of the sign, replacing both reality and meaning with an image, a picture, a sign of a sign - the digital personality no longer has a body and meaning, becoming a sign of itself. The author explicates informational subjectivity as the success of algorithmic self-expression practices. For this purpose, the concept of «digital-centric personality» has been proposed, which is identified primarily through an external locus, professional-activity status, neo-profession - streamer, gamer, blogger, serfer pictures, zero coder, tik tok user, etc. The digital-centric one is already a digital simulacrum, but still a person who has a transitional, intermediate axiology from anthropic, human values to the values of exclusively artificial intelligence.

Résumé :
Traditionally, the literature has recognised the role of public libraries in the promotion of human rights, through their efforts in making information accessible to anyone, irrespective of their personal circumstances. At the same time, scholars have largely overlooked their potential in the protection of human rights. This article shows that libraries can make an important contribution to the protection function, by using the example of cooperation between the National Ombudsman of Serbia and 15 local public libraries in smaller municipalities. The research is framed within the Orchestration theory, recently developed by Abbott and others. We demonstrate that the relationship between the Ombudsman and local libraries can successfully be analysed with O-I-T framework, where the Ombudsman (Orchestrator) enlists local libraries (Intermediary) to become more accessible to citizens (Target), providing them with an easier way to communicate their human rights concerns and lodge a complaint with this key human rights remedy mechanism, by using the video communication software installed in local libraries. The results of this research could serve to inspire similar studies exploring the application of the Orchestration theory on the complex multi-actor human rights dynamics from a global perspective to national and local environments. While this research was inspired by the Serbian experience, its key policy implication is that innovative cooperation between a national human rights institution (NHRI) and local libraries is perfectly applicable to other states as well. The design of the project implemented in Serbia can be copied successfully worldwide, as it is not based on complicated infrastructural or institutional changes, but on creative and cost-effective idea.

Résumé :
The article discusses the possibilities of creating and developing a personal educational environment (PLE) as a tool that allows students to improve their academic performance in universities. The study aims are to identify the links between the use of PLE parts and student performance indicators. Methods of mathematical statistics were used to investigate the results of a survey of 348 students about the use of information resources in the educational process. The analysis of the use of individual elements of the PLE for training and communication of students with each other and with teachers was held. Students using a personal learning environment mostly have a higher average mark, pass intermediate grades more successfully, and less often resort to retakes. The positive impact of using social networks and personal accounts for communication with teachers on performance indicators was revealed. One of the results of the study is the confirmation of the possibility of using PLE in an educational institution as a unified system that helps students in learning and improves average performance, due to the fact that a balanced set of elements of PLE involves in the work both successful and lagging students.

Objectives: analysis of the correlation between concepts “cyberspace”, “computer virtual reality”, “computer interactive environment”, “interactive experience”; wording of the author’s definition of the term “psychological virtual reality”; identification of its functions and features. Background. Computer interactive environments are becoming the main platforms for the professional and personal self-realization of a modern person, the social activity of youth is shifting to the Internet space, models and forms of interpersonal interaction and communication are changing, new psychological constructs are formed that reflect virtual world and provide interaction with it. Psychological virtual reality acts as an intermediary between a person as a personality and a computer interactive environment as a form of cyberspace representation in modern human life, and the psychological constructs generated in it determine the formation of new socio-psychological behavior patterns. Methodology: systemic and subjective approaches, comparative analysis method. Conclusions. The creation of computer interactive environments has opened a new stage in the formation of a new interactive human experience as a system of information technology and socio-psychological competencies. There is a need for a systematic study of the conceptual-categorical apparatus that is used to describe computer interactive environments. Psychological virtual reality is a component of computer interactive environment, performing number of important functions of optimizing human interaction with computer environment. The analysis of the "man—computer environment" system gives reason to distinguish between nine basic psychotypes of social subjects which are participants of virtual reality. The typology developed in the article can be recommended for use as a methodological basis in the development of socio-psychological diagnostic tools, in the practice of socio-psychological counseling and social work.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of non-founder CEO succession on firms’ research and development (R&D) decision, and further explore its mechanism and economic consequences. Design/methodology/approach Using founders’ personal-level information of entrepreneurial firms in the Chinese growth enterprise market from 2009 to 2015, the authors empirically investigate whether firms can be motivated to launch more R&D activities as the result of switching to non-founder CEOs. The author’s further test the impact of non-founder CEOs on R&D output to distinguish their motivation. Moreover, the authors use stepwise regression to explore the mechanism and possible channels. Findings The authors find that R&D investment significantly increases in firms with non-founder CEOs and the R&D output that comes in the form of patent exhibits an upward trending in numbers, too, ruling out non-founder CEOs’ incentive to chase private benefits. Specifically, the authors find that non-founder CEOs can promote R&D investment through their more professional human capital and better internal control. The authors also show mitigating effects under different circumstances on the relationship between non-founder CEOs and R&D investment. Practical implications This study helps the authors to understand the impact of non-founder CEO succession on R&D investment in emerging markets. It also indicates that human capital of non-founder CEOs is critical in driving firms’ innovation, proposing policy suggestions to improve formal intermediary labor market of professional CEOs. Originality/value This study provides elaborate theoretical analysis and empirical tests on the mechanism and economic consequences of (non-)founders’ impact on R&D activities.

Résumé :
The article considers interaction of innovation, cybersecurity, and digital education environment. It has been demonstrated that comprehensive digitalization of society is being accompanied by changes in the innovative potential and educational needs of Ukraine, especially in the development of the human intellectual capital and its protection in the digital environment. Human capital in innovation plays a significant role, especially in the digital age. Young people are considered as a vulnerable group that could be the main goal of cyber cognitive operations and as the weakest link of the System. The analysis of the Global Innovation Report has revealed that the real level of digitalization in Ukraine does not match its actual human potential and creative outputs. Ukraine has faced gaps in the triangle "human capital (potential) - technological support of innovations - creative activity" that should be eliminated to increase the national Global Innovation Index (GII). Human talent and competence (as a capital) are developed in the learning process. It has been noted that a joint project is the weakest link in terms of intellectual capital and the intellectual property right. Personal information about the project competitors is usually not defended. The issues of innovation in the digital learning environment exacerbate the issues of cybersafety of the education process participants. The traditional cybersecurity approach is unable to detect and tackle new sophisticated attacks. The authors have developed a general model of cyber threats in the field of education and mitigation of their impact. The new strategy in cybersecurity is proposed: not only prompt defence, but threat hunting and resilience training of users. Threat hunting can be presented by two approaches: threat detection (reactive) and threat discovery (proactive), as components of the proposed model. The resilience training of users is associated with threat awareness and special cybersafety training. A general model of cyber threats in the field of education and ways to avoid them is presented. Special attention should be paid to the strengthening of the role of media in educational processes in digital environment, as a current area of cyber hazards. The role of media in stimulating horizontal communication in the educational process is growing. Participants in the digital environment are confidently turning from passive consumers to prosumers, and the media are becoming an information intermediary with a double function: a platform for providing access and information exchange in the educational process and technological tools for joint creation of products (creative commons).

Résumé :
IntroductionA specific interest regarding quality of life(QoL) of patients with schizophrenia dates back to the de-institutionalisation process. Italy worked on decentralising its mental health services since 1978. It was apparent that capturing psychopathological symptoms alone was not sufficient to reflect relevant outcomes. In particular, information on the social functioning and quality of life is regarded as essential for evaluating long-term outcomes.ObjectiveThe relationship between Quality of life and global functioning and symptoms in outpatients with Schizophrenia.MethodIn the present study we examined all the subjects with a diagnosis of schizophrenia attending a same Community Mental Health Centre in Northern Italy, in 2008. Each patient completed the WHO QoL Instrument - Brief and was administerd the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale-24 to assess psychiatric symptoms and the VADO Personal and social Functioning Scale to assess the level of functioning.ResultsThe population studied subjects showed an intermediate satisfaction on the overall QoL and health; these data can be juxtaposed to the national standard sample rates. QoL resulted positively associated to personal and social functioning, while it was negatively related to psychiatric symptoms.ConclusionThe QoL in our study is not extremely negative, though schizophrenia is an often an impairing chronic illness. Furthermore, the present research on social functioning, psychiatric symptoms and QoL in people with schizophrenia suggest that symptoms, but, above all, personal and social functioning are important elements to determine QoL. These studies point to the importance of looking beyond symptom-reduction strategies for improving QoL in schizophrenia.

Résumé :
6517 Background: Prostate cancer causes a disproportionate burden to AA men, and AA men are less likely than CA men to receive aggressive treatment. This is the first study to examine factors influencing treatment decision-making of AA vs. CA men in a population-based cohort. Methods: 1171 men were enrolled soon after diagnosis and before treatment through Rapid Case Ascertainment of the North Carolina state cancer registry. Researchers asked patients regarding their priorities in treatment decision-making and information sources. Differences in AA and CA men were compared using the chi-square test. Results: The most important factor for both AA and CA men was curing cancer, and preserving QOL was second most important. However, AA men were more concerned about additional factors including impact on daily activities (74% very important AA vs 58% CA for intermediate/high risk disease), recovery time (81% vs 50%), cost (66% vs 32%) and treatment time (76% vs 39%) (p < .001 for each item). The most important source of information impacting treatment decisions for CA men were physician recommendations (61%), personal research (32%) and family/friend opinion (7%); for AA men, the corresponding numbers were 50%, 32% and 19%. Conclusions: AA and CA men with prostate cancer are both concerned about curing cancer, but AA men are more likely to consider multiple other social and personal factors as important in their decision-making process. Improved understanding of these differences may provide opportunities to address racial disparities in prostate cancer. [Table: see text]

AbstractBernard Rudofsky dedicated a significant part of his life to exploring a personal and fulfilling way of living, which was reflected in the numerous exhibitions and publications that he produced. Part of this research process was funneled into the various attempts to build a house for himself and his wife Berta, which concluded in the early seventies with the construction of La Casa in Frigiliana. This investigation reveals for the first time, from Rudofsky’s own account in one of his diaries, the challenges and mishaps that surrounded the discovery of the place and its subsequent acquisition by the couple. The article is an attempt to comprehensively reconstruct the couple’s ups and downs in Spain in 1969 by extracting and collating handwritten information from 144 pages of his diaries; information that has not been previously looked into. This article has a three-fold focus: firstly, that of the historical record of this unique event and the important role played by this construction in a biographical key; secondly, that of the meeting of the foreign architect with the Spain of the time, which allows us to imagine what other similar cases may have faced; finally, it is worth highlighting the uniqueness of a project process that includes the place in an intermediate stage and that highlights the intense relationship that exists in this particular case between the house, the environment, the user and designer, and living there.

Résumé :
Current guidelines for the development of decision aids recommend that they have to include a process for helping patients clarify their personal values, for example, by using values clarification methods. In this article, we extensively described the development process of the web-based values clarification method for patients with localized low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer based on the analytic hierarchy process. With analytic hierarchy process, the relative importance of different attributes of available treatments can be determined through series of pairwise comparisons of potential outcomes. Furthermore, analytic hierarchy process is able to use this information to present respondents with a quantitative overall treatment score and can therefore give actual treatment advice upon patients’ request. The addition of this values clarification method to an existing web-based treatment decision aid for patients with localized prostate cancer is thought to improve the support offered to patients in their decision-making process and their decision quality.

Résumé :
The algorithm of cross language fuzzy search based on hash vectors for automatic matching of personal names is proposed. In the response mode for an input request, names in Latin spelling and a given value for the similarity measure, the algorithm determines the set of output Cyrillic names contained in the database of the information search system. The principal feature of the proposed algorithm is the rejection of the direct translation of personal names. Instead, the hashing mechanism of personal names is used, followed by mapping them into the same hidden vector space where the computational procedures of the decision-making system are built. In the process of research, it was solved a number of actual intermediate tasks. Thus, the decomposition algorithms of the explored database, the generation and clustering of the dictionary of basic morphemes are an instrument that is of independent value in solving the problem of automatically translating names from a foreign language, the translation rules of which are unknown – the socalled generalized transcription. After mapping names into a vector space, the matching operation is reduced to assessing the similarity between vectors. As a measure of similarity, several quantities were considered in the study. The most convenient measure of similarity is the cosine similarity, the critical value of which was obtained by plotting the FMR (False Match Rate) and FNMR (False Non-Match Rate) graphs. The developed algorithm is universal with respect to the languages used, that is, it does not depend on a specific alphabet. In the practical implementation of the developed algorithm, a series of experimental studies was carried out using a database containing more than 2.5 million names.

Résumé :
Introduction: the relevance of the paper is justified by the fact that the civil doctrine regarding the study of the topics of investment transactions made using the financial platform is in the stage of gradual formation. While academic economists are quite actively developing issues of forming new approaches to the remote provision of financial services to a wide range of consumers. The purpose of the study: the paper provides a detailed analysis of Federal Law of July 20, 2020, No. 211-FZ “On Making Financial Transactions Using the Financial Platform”, which entered into force in 2020 and regulates the activities of special legal entities – operators providing investment services to individuals. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of the provisions enshrined in Federal Law No. 211-FZ of July 20, 2020, “On Making Financial Transactions Using the Financial Platform”. Analyzing the provisions of the newly adopted document, the author answers the question of whether they facilitate, accelerate and simplify the execution of transactions by a private investor made using the financial platform. The Rules of the financial platform are also analyzed as a legal regulatory basis for the entrepreneurial activity of the operator of the financial platform. Research methods: based on the materialistic worldview, the author uses a combination of general scientific and specific scientific methods. The main research methods are the logical and system-structural methods, the methods of induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, as well as the formal legal method. Conclusions: it is concluded that the activity of recording data on financial transactions, which the repository (the registrar of financial transactions) must carry out according to Federal Law No. 211-FZ of 20.07.2020, is very cumbersome, complex, and costly, is subject to the risks of improper execution and improper preservation of personal data of consumers of financial services. It is proposed to use the depository and registration platform, which functions as a special electronic service on the website of the Bank of Russia, to record data on financial transactions using the financial platform. It is recommended to record the facts of financial transactions made in the system of a polysubject jurisdictional blockchain. The recommended scheme of polysubject blockchain interaction of entities operating on the territory of the Russian Federation has been developed, which allows each participant of the blockchain to simultaneously receive complete and reliable information on each stage of a financial transaction in the online mode and exclude irrational data transfer related to financial transactions and their participants, reduce the risk of improper storage of personal data of consumers of financial services, etc. It is proved that in Federal Law No. 211-FZ of 20.07.2020 the legislator has created a legal business scheme that is beneficial, first of all, for the operator of the financial platform – an intermediary organization. The amendments and additions to Federal Law No. 211-FZ of 20.07.2020 are proposed. The expediency of borrowing and integrating into the unified federal law “On Making Investment Transactions by Consumers in the Information and Telecommunications Network “Internet” all viable legislative provisions developed in Federal Law No. 211-FZ of 20.07.2020 is justified. This document also proposes to fix a set of rules for regulating remote digital transactions of investment in traditional financial assets, securities, digital financial assets, and derivative financial assets made by retail private investors (individuals) in the Internet information and telecommunications network.

Résumé :
This article includes an updated review of the classification, uses and side effects of surfactants for their application in the cosmetic, personal care and pharmaceutical industries. Based on their origin and composition, surfactants can be divided into three different categories: (i) synthetic surfactants; (ii) bio-based surfactants; and (iii) microbial biosurfactants. The first group is the most widespread and cost-effective. It is composed of surfactants, which are synthetically produced, using non-renewable sources, with a final structure that is different from the natural components of living cells. The second category comprises surfactants of intermediate biocompatibility, usually produced by chemical synthesis but integrating fats, sugars or amino acids obtained from renewable sources into their structure. Finally, the third group of surfactants, designated as microbial biosurfactants, are considered the most biocompatible and eco-friendly, as they are produced by living cells, mostly bacteria and yeasts, without the intermediation of organic synthesis. Based on the information included in this review it would be interesting for cosmetic, personal care and pharmaceutical industries to consider microbial biosurfactants as a group apart from surfactants, needing specific regulations, as they are less toxic and more biocompatible than chemical surfactants having formulations that are more biocompatible and greener.

Résumé :
Context.— Follicular nodules are the most common source of diagnostic difficulties in the practice of surgical pathology of the thyroid. This is due to a variety of factors, the most salient of which is the lack of well-defined criteria and evidence-based data for the diagnosis of these lesions. Objectives.— To discuss some of the assumptions that have been accrued over the years regarding the criteria by which we evaluate such lesions. Data Sources.— The information presented herein is based on review of the literature and the author's personal experience. Conclusions.— Thyroid nodules with a predominant follicular growth pattern span the range from benign lesions (hyperplastic nodules, adenomatoid nodules, follicular adenomas) to malignant neoplasms (follicular carcinoma, follicular variant of papillary carcinoma) with a host of intermediate or indeterminate lesions found in between. Advances in immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology have not yet provided a reliable way of separating the borderline or intermediate cases. Low-grade and intermediate or borderline follicular-patterned thyroid lesions are those most often prone to difficulties for interpretation. Newer and potential future approaches for the evaluation of these lesions are discussed.
