Eriksson, André. « Views : Cinema, redefined ». Thesis, KTH, Arkitektur, 2018. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kth:diva-229697.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
Transforming the first floor of a 1950s building at Sveavägen, Stockholm, this project aims to redefine the traditional cinema. This is not a perfect quiet black box, but a place for sharing, experiencing and discussing film. A cinema for independent films, short films, documentaries and film festivals, but perhaps also presentations and lectures. A flexible building that can open up, or close down, depending on the event. A cinema where one can sit down for a brief movement with a coffee, or spend an evening at the big screen.

Brooks, Erin. « Co-creation : A study of intimacy and control ». VCU Scholars Compass, 2014. http://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/etd/3486.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
Drawing from ongoing revitalization initiatives in Richmond, Virginia, this adaptive reuse project creates a structured dialogue between public and private expression to create a more immersive gallery experience for viewer and practitioner. The gallery experience is twofold; traditional object-based display and nontraditional process-based display. Preservation of the historic fabric of the existing Handcraft building at 1501 Roseneath is integrated with the transformative potential of introducing voyeuristic opportunities in creating a community arts center. Notions of voyeurism will center around ideas of visual connection and physical separation. This project questions if tactics of voyeurism, which inherently create physical barriers, can facilitate interaction and encourage co-creation in a creative setting. Structured moments of intimacy and control are accomplished through presented and found views of movement, object, and process. These moments of intimacy and control create a conceptual reciprocity which guides the design of this project. Ultimately, the redesign creates a dialogue between the process of making and the final product/object by facilitating interaction between the viewer and practitioner through different points of the creative process. The project moves away from exploiting the site’s formal, historical, and contextual components and encourages the audience member to engage with the maker through a corporeal, experiential encounter. The environment becomes a catalyst for cross-disciplinary creativity on an individual, group, and community level. The development of spaces that engage the creative mind and foster collaborative growth will serve the Richmond arts community and can act as an icon for successful urban transformation.

Schroder, Hilde. « Green (inside) ? An eating experience which addresses ecological & ; lifestyle sustainability, with the interior as a tool ». Diss., University of Pretoria, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/60204.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
This dissertation originated from a concern regarding healthy and sustainable living, with the focus on aspects of well-being, eating and nutrition. It has not been seen or explicitly explored as a problem to address within the discipline of interior design. It is of the opinion that the environments in which we live can directly influence the way we live. Green (Inside)? is a project proposal which addresses both a normative stance towards interior design and a recognized gap in the social sphere. A scarceness of experiential design in interior environments is examined. This stance is contextualized as a response against the status quo of the restaurant industry towards sustainable living. Restaurants, specifically fast-food outlets or caf?'s, tend to promote unhealthy lifestyles and lack to provide an experience beyond the food itself. The theoretical approaches of sustainable development, human centred design and experiential design, informed the design discourse. The character of the design is guided by the found theories of a process oriented view, the farm-to-table concept, urban farming and principles of the changing kitchen. The programme is placed within the Maboneng precinct in Johannesburg CBD. It establishes a new urban food identity and brand, furthermore connected with its creative and industrial identity. The conceptual restaurant, the Inside, proposes an eating experience, using the eating process as medium of communication to address various topics of ecological and lifestyle sustainability. It will intentionally expose users to participate and interact within the spaces, its processes and a specific sensory-story. The design interventions will aim to encourage and educate users towards sustainability.
Die konseptuele restaurant, "the Inside", is a voorstelling van 'n eet-ervaring.

Structures subjected to high absolute temperatures or to natural convection, as well structures that exchange heat in the absence of a physical medium present significant heat transfer through thermal radiation. This phenomenon is important for several applications and processes, such as in the operation of solar collectors, satellites, industrial furnaces, combustion engines and nuclear plants. The present work shows the application of topology optimization to the design of structures that exchange heat substantially by thermal radiation within an enclosure, through the distribution of reflective material or heaters. However, the design of such radiant enclosures is not trivial and it is necessary to use robust and systematic design tools, such as optimization techniques. Topology optimization is a numerical method which allows finding the layout, or topology, of a structure such that a prescribed objective is maximized or minimized subjected to design constraints. The optimization algorithm, based on the method of moving asymptotes (MMA), and the finite element method for analysis of the phenomenon of radiation in enclosures, are implemented using $Matlab^\\circledR$. The cases considered are the distribution of thermal radiation reflective material or heaters, subjected to a volume fraction constraint of these materials on a flat surface, in order to extremize the irradiation or to minimize the temperature in a specified region of the design domain. This problem depends, among other factors, on the geometry of the surfaces that exchange heat through thermal radiation.
