Résumé :
Pathogens transmitted by arthropod vectors are common in human populations, agricultural systems and natural communities. Transmission of these vector-borne pathogens depends on the population dynamics of the vector species as well as its interactions with other species within the community. In particular, predation may be sufficient to control pathogen prevalence indirectly via the vector. To examine the indirect effect of predators on vectored-pathogen dynamics, we developed a theoretical model that integrates predator–prey and host–pathogen theory. We used this model to determine whether predation can prevent pathogen persistence or alter the stability of host–pathogen dynamics. We found that, in the absence of predation, pathogen prevalence in the host increases with vector fecundity, whereas predation on the vector causes pathogen prevalence to decline, or even become extinct, with increasing vector fecundity. We also found that predation on a vector may drastically slow the initial spread of a pathogen. The predator can increase host abundance indirectly by reducing or eliminating infection in the host population. These results highlight the importance of studying interactions that, within the greater community, may alter our predictions when studying disease dynamics. From an applied perspective, these results also suggest situations where an introduced predator or the natural enemies of a vector may slow the rate of spread of an emerging vector-borne pathogen.

Résumé :
Vector control is one of the most popular control techniques of induction motors. Owing to its simplicity, the indirect vector control gains increasing popularity. This paper proposes a speed sensor-less indirect vector control system of induction motors based on a novel sliding mode control (SMC) speed observer. The observer uses the stator current difference of the estimated value and the actual value to calculate the rotor speed. The simulation results show that the method has a fast response and high accuracy, and it robust to parameter variations.

Résumé :

The traction inverter is a crucial power device in the electric vehicle’s powertrain, and its failure is intolerable as it would considerably compromise the system’s safety. For more reliable driving, installing a traction inverter that is sufficiently resistant to electrical failure is inherent. Due to its compact size and the small number of switches incorporated in three-phase four-switch inverter, this modular topology was used to compensate for the open switch’s failure. However, it is known to have manifold weaknesses mainly distinguished in the low-frequency region. This paper introduces a new fault-tolerant indirect control that handles the IGBT’s failure constituting the traction inverter. The fault compensator is designed first based on the Proportional Integral regulator combined with the notch filter to mitigate the current imbalance and restore the DC voltage equilibrium.Furthermore, to conceive a comprehensive fault-tolerant control, there must therefore contain an accurate fault detector. In this regard, an uncomplicated fault diagnosis method based on the current spectral analysis has been performed. The effectiveness of the submitted controller was validated by simulation using Matlab.

Résumé :
The integration of community ecology into the understanding and management of vectors and vector-borne diseases has largely occurred only recently. This compendium examines a variety of community interactions that can affect vector or vector-borne disease dynamics. They include: the importance of risk of predation, risk of ectoparasatism, competition, interactions of competition with transgenic control, apparent competition mediated through vectors, indirect effects of pesticides, vector diversity, and parasite diversity within a vector. In this paper, we summarize these studies and introduce several additional important questions in need of further exploration.

Résumé :
This paper presents a space vector modulation strategy for a three-phase indirect matrix converter to reduce the common-mode voltage and maintain the output performance. To reduce the peak value of the common-mode voltage to 57.7% of the input phase voltage, three active voltage vectors are used to generate the desired output voltage with arbitrary amplitude and frequency, instead of using both active and zero voltage vectors as in the traditional space vector modulation strategy. Although the common-mode voltage is reduced, the output waveform quality of the three-phase indirect matrix converter deteriorates due to the absence of the zero voltage vectors. To overcome this problem, the proposed space vector modulation strategy is redesigned to control the rectifier stage of the indirect matrix converter by utilizing three active current vectors instead of two as usual. Consequently, the constant average dc-link voltage is achieved, which can improve the output performance in terms of the output voltage and current harmonic distortion. The simulation is implemented by PSIM software and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed space vector modulation strategy.

A novel space vector modulation (SVM) method for an indirect matrix converter (IMC) is used to reduce the common -mode voltage (CMV) in the output. The process of selecting required active vectors and to describe the switching sequence in the inverter stage of the IMC is explained in this paper. This novel SVM method used to decrease the peak -to-peak amplitude voltage of CMV without using any external hardware. The other advantage of this SVM method is to reduce the total harmonic distortion of line-to-line output voltage. Résumé :
The paper deals with a squirrel cage induction generator connected to the grid through a back-to-back converter driven by vector control. The stator-side converter controls the generator torque by means of an indirect vector control scheme. In order to reduce the system dependence from the mechanical system behavior, a torque loop is used in the current reference calculations. The battery energy storage system (BESS) plays a fundamental role in controlling and improving the efficiency of renewable energy sources. Stochasticity of wind speed and reliability of the main system components are considered. The grid-side converter controls the DC bus voltage and the reactive power in order to accomplish the grid codes. Speed control using flow directional control, indirect conventionally uses proportional integral (PI) type current regulators, which achieve satisfactory objectives on torque and flow dynamics. The objective of this article is to present an indirect vector control strategy with oriented rotor flux using current regulators of the proportional integral (PI) type, applied to an asynchronous machine supplied by a voltage inverter, capable of supplying during restrictive stresses, more satisfactory torque and flux responses. The obtained simulation results upon simulation tests of the global system are developed under the MATLAB / Simulink environment and are satisfactory.

Résumé :
This paper presents the implementation of indirect vector control of three phase Induction Motor using Hysteresis Band PWM current control and Synchronous Current Control in PSIM environment. In any machine drive system, current control directly influences both flux and torque developed directly. In Hysteresis current control method, actual current tracks the command current within a hysteresis band. There is no difficulty in current control tracking when CEMF is low, but at higher speeds, current controller gets saturated due to higher CEMF and hense becomes difficult to track due to which there will be a phase lag with respect to command current. All such problems are solved using Synchronous Current Control.

Résumé :
This paper presents the speed performance of an induction motor by using a vector control. The control scheme used is an indirect vector control for define speed command. The main focus of this research is to observe on the dynamic speed performance of the induction motor when the command speed is given to the motor. In this study, the system of indirect vector control will be built by using Matlab Simulink. In fact, the expression of exciting flux linkage and electromagnetic torque are used to create a simple embedded system which to find out the effects of flux weakening in motor while, the gain of the speed controller is 100. The result shows that the vector control method will cause immediate the motor speed response with a small electromagnetic torque ripple. Furthermore, the output mechanical torque starts to decrease when the motor speed above the base speed to maintain a constant output power operation. This paper contributes a new algorithm to analysis the system when the speed motor is higher than a base speed.

Résumé :
In this paper, we investigate a problem of optimal control over a finite time interval for a linear autonomous system with slow and fast variables in the class of piecewise continuous controls with smooth geometric constraints in the form of a ball. We consider a terminal convex quality index that depends on slow and fast variables. We substantiate a limit relation for the vector determining the optimal control as the small parameter tends to zero. We refine the limit relation for the case of an indirect control problem with a terminal quality index, which is the sum of values of two strictly convex continuously differentiable functions, the first of which depends only on slow variables, and the second one depends only on fast variables and has a minimum at zero. In doing so, we show that the first component of the determining vector converges to the determining vector of the limit problem while the second component tends to zero. In the problem of indirect control of a system of material points in a medium with resistance, we obtain the complete asymptotics of the determining vector in powers of a small parameter.

Résumé :
The classical DC drive control structure (outer speed control loop and fast inner current control loop) is applied for induction motors. This paper focuses on the inner current control (indirect current control) loop. Three Park vector based VSC (Variable Structure Control) methods (one for input rectifier two for the output inverter) are studied. In the three cases, a complex error vector, a complex sliding surface and a complex distance vector (which indicates the distance of the actual state from the sliding surface) are defined. The inverter is switched in such a way that the system trajectory gets as close to the sliding surface as possible. In spite of the fact that the error vectors have different physical meanings, similar switching strategies can be applied to all cases due to the similarity of mathematical equations. By the proposed method both the low-order harmonics and the audio noise can be reduced.

The mathematic models of the primary machine and the secondary machine are set up respectively. Through the coupling of the two models, the system model of the split double-rotor motor is build. Matlab software is used for the simulation and analysis of this indirect vector control system. According to the simulation results, the validity of system model is proved with nicer static and dynamic capability, and without steady-state error in stable state. These are important to analyze and design the double-rotor motor. Furthermore, the results provide the basis for simulation and apply of double-rotor motor in HEV.

Résumé :
Compared with AC-DC-AC converter, matrix converter (MC) has several advantages for its bidirectional power flow, controllable power factor, and the absence of large energy storage in dc-link. The topology of MC includes direct matrix converter (DMC) and indirect matrix converter (IMC). IMC has received great attention worldwide because of its easy implementation and safe commutation. Space vector PWM (SVM) algorithm for indirect matrix converter is realized on DSP and CPLD platform in this paper. The control of the rectifier and inverter in IMC can be decoupled because of the intermediate dc-link. The space vector modulation scheme for IMC is discussed and the PWM sequences for the rectifier and inverter are generated. And a two-step commutation of zero current switching (ZCS) in the rectifier is achieved. Input power factor of IMC can be changed by adjusting the angle of the reference current vector. Experimental tests have been conducted on a RB-IGBT based indirect matrix converter prototype. The results verify the performance of the SVM algorithm and the ability of power factor correction.

This paper introduces a control scheme of Indirect Matrix Converter which includes space vector modulation to stabilize the frequency variations. The terminal voltage and frequency of any synchronous machine can be controlled easily with this scheme. Further the control strategy is proposed and implemented in Matlab/Simulink Embedded system which gives significant better performance compared to conventional control technique like better Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), more output voltage with same Modulation Index, less switching stress and less switching loss. This method might prove effective for wind energy conversion system using DFIG as the DFIG speed is close to synchronous speed. The complete control strategy is verified using MATLAB/Simulink.

Résumé :
Leishmania infantumis a protozoan parasite causing severe vector-borne visceral diseases both in humans and dogs. The latter are the most important natural reservoir and therefore should be the main target of control measures. The real efficacy of seropositive dogs culling as a direct control method is still debated, and the new sensitivity of large part of population considers ethically unacceptable this kind of approach. Treatment of infectious dogs with one of the available therapeutic protocols is recommendable as it allows to reduce parasite burdens and therefore the possibility of transmission ofLeishmania infantumto vectors. Vaccination has been proven to be a very effective control tool, but the absence of a commonly recognized diagnostic method able to distinguish vaccinate from seropositive individuals is still an important limit. Concerning indirect control methods, a number of studies have demonstrated the efficacy of topical insecticides treatment (collars, spot-on, and sprays) in reducing incidence and prevalence ofL. infantum. Also, the reduction of the odds of seroconversion in humans in endemic areas has been reported after the application of indirect control measures on dogs. The contemporary use of direct and indirect methods is even more effective in reducing seroprevalence in dogs.

Résumé :
Aphids are the primary vector of plant viruses. Transient aphids, which probe several plants per day, are considered to be the principal vectors of non-persistently transmitted (NPT) viruses. However, resident aphids, which can complete their life cycle on a single host and are affected by agronomic practices, can transmit NPT viruses as well. Moreover, they can interfere both directly and indirectly with transient aphids, eventually shaping plant disease dynamics. By means of an epidemiological model, originally accounting for ecological principles and agronomic practices, we explore the consequences of fertilization and irrigation, pesticide deployment and roguing of infected plants on the spread of viral diseases in crops. Our results indicate that the spread of NPT viruses can be i) both reduced or increased by fertilization and irrigation, depending on whether the interference is direct or indirect; ii) counter-intuitively increased by pesticide application and iii) reduced by roguing infected plants. We show that a better understanding of vectors’ interactions would enhance our understanding of disease transmission, supporting the development of disease management strategies.

Résumé :
The frequency of arboviral disease epidemics is increasing and vector control remains the primary mechanism to limit arboviral transmission. Container inhabiting mosquitoes such as Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti are the primary vectors of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses. Current vector control methods for these species are often ineffective, suggesting the need for novel control approaches. A proposed novel approach is autodissemination of insect growth regulators (IGRs). The advantage of autodissemination approaches is small amounts of active ingredients compared to traditional insecticide applications are used to impact mosquito populations. While the direct targeting of cryptic locations via autodissemination seems like a significant advantage over large scale applications of insecticides, this approach could actually affect nontarget organisms by delivering these highly potent long lasting growth inhibitors such as pyriproxyfen (PPF) to the exact locations that other beneficial insects visit, such as a nectar source. Here we tested the hypothesis that PPF treated male Ae. albopictus will contaminate nectar sources, which results in the indirect transfer of PPF to European honey bees (Apis mellifera). We performed bioassays, fluorescent imaging, and mass spectrometry on insect and artificial nectar source materials to examine for intra- and interspecific transfer of PPF. Data suggests there is direct transfer of PPF from Ae. albopictus PPF treated males and indirect transfer of PPF to A. mellifera from artificial nectar sources. In addition, we show a reduction in fecundity in Ae. albopictus and Drosophila melanogaster when exposed to sublethal doses of PPF. The observed transfer of PPF to A. mellifera suggests the need for further investigation of autodissemination approaches in a more field like setting to examine for risks to insect pollinators.

Résumé :
Decoupling the stator current into magnetizing current and torque current, the vector control technique improves the performance of AC drive system effectively. However, the rotor time constant varies widely with rotor temperature and the flux level of the machine, which decreases the quality of the drive system. By the contrastive analysis of the variable current on-line estimation methods, this paper uses the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) and designs a set of self-adaption estimation arithmetic which has its basis on the Lyapunov theorem of stability. The simulation shows that the estimation arithmetic has the characteristics of fast convergence speed, few stability errors, good track performance and etc. On the basis of simulation of the rotor time constant on-line estimation, this paper designs the system of vector control with the rotor time constant on-line estimation and has the simulation. According to the simulation results, applying the estimation to the vector control system can improve the performance of the system effectively and establish the theoretical basis of the research on the high-performance AC drive system.

Résumé :
Abstract In this work, we present a comparative study between four-level neural space vector modulation (4L-NSVM) and three-level neural space vector modulation (3L-NSVM) technique in indirect vector control (IVC) of reactive and active power control of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) for wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). Two controls techniques using IVC-4L-NSVM and IVC-3L-NSVM are proposed and compared. The validity of the proposed control schemes is verified by simulation tests of a DFIG-based wind turbine system (WTSs). The stator active power, stator reactive power and rotor current is determined and compared in the above strategies. The obtained results showed that the proposed IVC with 4L-NSVM technique have reactive and stator active power with low powers ripples and low rotor current harmonic distortion than 3L-NSVM technique.

Résumé :
This paper deals with the problem of estimation of rotor angular position for the indirect pulse-vector control of wound rotor induction motor drive. The paper considers issues of thematic justification and expanding of the field of using sensorless motor drives. With a view to improve energy consumption readings during design and modernization of motor drives of massive mechanisms with moderate standards for accuracy of velocity control, requiring long-term velocity decrease during load reduction (according to technological process conditions), using the system of the pulse-vector control of wound rotor induction motor is suggested. The paper provides the solution for the problem of developing math models of this motor drive system both for the motor-mounted sensor, and for indirect angular position sensing. The models were developed in ANSYS Electromagnetics Suite using the finite element method for studying electromagnetic processes. Based on the models, the investigation of transition and steady states of a motor drive was carried out, process quality parameters were obtained, namely: max and root-mean-square currents, torques; velocity control errors caused by pulse operation mode. From that simulation, the result illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Résumé :
Indirect Field Oriented Control (IFOC) is one of the vector control methods that can be applied to induction motor in the industrial world rather than Direct Field Oriented Control (DFOC) because of the flux is obtained from the formulation. However, IFOC can not guarantee the robustness and stability of the systems. Stability analysis such as Lyapunov Stability Theory can be used to make the system stable but not the robustness. Model based controller that can guarantee the stability and robustness such as sliding mode control (SMC) and fuzzy needs to be added in IFOC system to achieve proportional response system. Robust current regulator using sliding mode control was designed in this paper from state space model for model based controller. In transient response and under disturbance SMC shows better performance than PID in rising time and robustness at rotor speed and stator current.

Résumé :
A model of the interactions among a host population, an insect-vector population, which transmits virus from hosts to hosts, and a vector predator population is proposed based on virus-host, host-vector, and prey (vector)-enemy theories. The model is investigated to explore the indirect effect of natural enemies on host-virus dynamics by reducing the vector densities, which shows the basic reproduction numbersR01(without predators) andR02(with predators) that provide threshold conditions on determining the uniform persistence and extinction of the disease in a host population. When the model is absent from predator, the disease is persistent ifR01>1; in such a case, by introducing predators of a vector, then the insect-transmitted disease will be controlled ifR02<1. From the point of biological control, these results show that an additional predator population of the vector may suppress the spread of vector-borne diseases. In addition, there exist limit cycles with persistence of the disease or without disease in presence of predators. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to support analytical results.

Résumé :
This study presents finite set-predictive torque control (FS-PTC) with discrete space vector modulation (DSVM) for indirect matrix converter (IMC)-fed permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). The implementation of FS-PTC with DSVM in an IMC requires high computation time due to the large number of synthesized voltage vectors (VVs). To reduce computation time caused by considering all VVs, a new preselection strategy is proposed to reduce the computational numerations from 37 to 6 VVs. The proposed algorithm can reduce torque and flux ripples and achieve robust characteristics against parameter variations. Additionally, the increased degree of VVs can improve the correlation between the rectifier and inverter sides of the IMC. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results.

Résumé :
This paper proposes an enhanced study of a photovoltaic generator (PVG) connected to the grid. A fuzzy maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is used to extract maximum power. The control strategy adopted gives the possibility to control separately the active and reactive power. the voltage control at the input of the three levels inverter allows fixing the reference currents in the DQ frame to control indirectly the power injected into the grid. The use of a three-level neutral point clamped voltage source inverter (3L-NPC-VSI) with space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) control and the RL filter allows to have a quality current and voltage wave with a minimum total harmonic distortion (THD). The simulation results on MATLAB/Simulink confirm the performance of this proposed strategy in the steady-state with high efficiency.

Résumé :
This article studies speed control of 3-phase Induction Motors (IMs) under fault conditions supplied by wind turbine using Indirect Vector Control (IVC). The wind turbine plays as a prime mover to a connected DC generator. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is used to obtain 3-phase AC voltage from the DC generator output. The proposed modified controller is able to control a star-connected 3-phase IM under normal, stator winding open-circuit fault and speed-sensor fault conditions. Simulation results are presented and shown the performance, validity and possibility of the proposed technique. The results demonstrate that, the proposed scheme provides good dynamic performance especially in reduction of IM speed and torque pulsations.

Résumé :
For variable speed drive applications such as electric vehicles, 3 phase induction motor is used and is controlled by fuzzy logic controllers. For the steady functioning of the vehicle drive, it is essential to generate required torque and speed during starting, coasting, free running, braking and reverse operating regions. The drive performance under these transient conditions are studied and presented. In the present paper, vector control technique is implemented using three fuzzy logic controllers. Separate Fuzzy logic controllers are used to control the direct axis current, quadrature axis current and speed of the motor. In this paper performance of the indirect vector controller containing artificial neural network based fuzzy logic (ANFIS) based control system is studied and compared with regular fuzzy logic system, which is developed without using artificial neural network. Data required to model the artificial neural network based fuzzy inference system is obtained from the PI controlled induction motor system. Results obtained in MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation shows that the ANFIS controller is superior compared to controller which is implemented only using fuzzy logic, under all dynamic conditions.

Résumé :
Leptospirosis is an infectious disease that damages the liver and kidneys, found mainly in dogs and farm animals and caused by bacteria. In this paper, we present the optimal control problem applied to a dynamical leptospirosis infected vector and human population by using multiple control variables. First, we show the existence of the control problem and then use analytical and numerical techniques to investigate the existence cost effective control efforts for prevention of indirect and direct transmission of this disease. In order to do this, we consider three control functions two for human and one for vector population. We completely characterize the optimal control problem and compute the numerical solution of the optimality system using an iterative method.
