Résumé :
Romanticism originated in the last decades of the 18th century and peaked in the first half of the 19th century. Besides adoration for nature, the most significant aspect of the movement was the emphasis that it laid on profound emotion as the genuine source of aesthetic experience with remarkable inclination towards apprehension, terror, horror and awe with respect to sublimity. Romanticism spotlighted the exemplary achievements of “Heroic” individuals who were capable of setting up high standards for emulation. Although Romanticism mainly dealt with visual arts, music and literature, it heavily influenced historiography, socialism, naturalism, liberalism, conservatism and nationalism. Derivative art was highly disregarded by Romantics who believed that influence of works of other artists stood in the way of creativity. They held that “Romantic originality” was to be achieved through the process of creation from nothingness. Like any other Art movement, Romanticism was on the wane after a few decades, but it has always had an expansive influence not only on different branches of art but on life itself.

Résumé :
Nicolae Iorga’s research on Transilvania, published in the second volume of Istoriei literaturii române, sugestively titled Epoca lui Petru Maior (The epoch of Petru Maior) is a landmark for the theme of Școala Ardeleană, opening new investigation paths. The historiography of the Romanian Enlightenment in Transylvania or the history of books and printing are topics that have the first edition of Istoria literaturii române în secolul al XVIII-lea as mandatory bibliographic reference even now, more than 100 years after its publication. Within the work, the research dedicated to Gheorghe Şincai resulted in a portrait combining the general analysis of the life path and historical work from the positions and with the instruments of the literary historian. Nicolae Iorga’s study played the role of a model, its form and background being invoked in many subsequent pieces of research. One of the images of Gheorghe Șincai, perpetuated in the pages of historiography, we also owe to Nicolae Iorga: „a different nature than the gentle monk of Blaj, a fiery, stubborn, harsh temperament. An apostle other than the preacher with the spirit of meekness, a warrior who proclaims the new truth in the hearing of all, a prophet by the sword, who has come to bring war”. Regarding the contribution to the development of the Romanian historical writing, Șincai is considered by Nicolae Iorga a compiler, and his representative work, Hronica românilor, a compilation. In the light of the progress of the methods of text analysis, of the inclination towards the detailed research of the manuscript collections of the Transylvanian Enlightenment, the present study proposes a re-evaluation of Gheorghe Șincai’s scientific profile and a reconsideration of the role of his historical writing on the road to modernity.

Résumé :
This study investigates the rationale behind the combination of Buddha mahāstūpas (mahācetiyas) and cetiyas (caityas) within a Buddhist monastery. In integrating a broader intellectual program, the universality of the concept is exemplified, wherein “mahācetiya and cetiya” are combined to symbolize the life of Buddha through architectural arrangements. Adopting a broader intellectual program grounded in the causality principle signifies an inclination toward universality. These combinations represent sacred places and events in Buddha’s life, from birth to Mahaparinirvana. They encompass significant moments, such as great departures, meditation, enlightenment, and preaching. The synthesis of mahācetiyas and apsidal shrines was a pivotal moment at the site, guided by the Mahāsaṅghika School, representing an innovative invention in the pursuit of narrative framing of Buddha’s biography.

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has precipitated a paradigm shift in education, marked by an increasing reliance on technology and virtual platforms. This study delves into the post-pandemic landscape of Islamic higher education at the State Islamic Institute of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, focusing on students’ readiness, attitudes, and interests toward sustained engagement with e-learning. A cohort of 300 students across all semesters of Islamic Education partook in the investigation. Utilising Structural Equation Modelling, the study gauged students’ preparedness, perceptions, and inclinations toward online learning. Results indicate a general readiness among students for online learning, with a pivotal role attributed to technological devices and internet connectivity. Positive attitudes toward online learning were prevalent, with flexibility and accessibility emerging as significant advantages. Moreover, students showed keen interest in online learning, valuing its technological advancements, affordability, and intellectually challenging nature. These findings highlight the digital transformation of traditional teaching methods among Islamic higher education students, who are typically known for their emphasis on direct interaction in teaching and learning. Their receptivity to innovative learning modalities and adaptability to the digital era’s difficulties highlight the need for educational institutions to leverage this enthusiasm. Comprehensive online learning platforms, robust technological support, and a conducive learning environment are advocated to empower Islamic higher education students in navigating the digital landscape and perpetuating their pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment.

Résumé :
The article shows the process of origin and development of ideas related to the education and upbringing of gifted children in the 17th – 19th centuries in Russia. Religious and secular books of this period allow us to see the process of changing attitudes towards the interpretation of the factors that determine the emergence of talented people. Recognizing a certain influence of the ideas of enlightenment in Western Europe, it is necessary to note the original approach to the study of the phenomena of children’s giftedness in Russian pedagogical thought. The aim of the work was to study the process of the emergence of scientific interest in the problem of children’s giftedness in the history of Russian pedagogical thought, to study the genesis of ideas related to the essence and features of the development of giftedness in childhood, the forms and methods of teaching and educating gifted children in Russian pedagogical thought in the period from the 17th to XIX century. From the analysis and generalization of the pedagogical experience historically accumulated by many generations of different peoples in Russia, there is a consistent transition from the 17th century to the scientific interpretation of children’s giftedness. In the 19th century, the idea of the need for a state approach to ensuring the effective education and upbringing of gifted children, regardless of their origin, class affiliation and financial situation, to the support and development of talents in educational institutions, was born and received its recognition. These ideas are further developed in subsequent periods of the development of domestic pedagogy - in the 20th and 21st centuries. Based on the analysis of the scientific literature of this historical period, the author highlights ideas that are important for the development of children’s giftedness, namely: the idea of the need for teachers to timely identify children with special inclinations and study the features of their development; the idea of the importance of purposeful and integrated development of both mental and other gifts of children in close connection with their spiritual and moral education; the idea of state support and provision of full-fledged education for gifted children from different strata of society; the idea of the need to support and protect gifted children from the influence of an asocial environment.

Résumé :
"The most representative Romanian translations of the 19th century can be the subject of an aesthetic-rhetorical study, which, usually, we would devote to an original literary work. Because of their experimental character, the translations are closely linked to the contemporary “language question”: thus, they offer a tool to observe the evolution of literary Romanian in those crucial decades. In other words, we can consider translations as a ground for the reception of Western models and the development of modern literary language. In this study, we propose overcoming the two most popular approaches to Romanian translations: the exclusively lexicographical one, which mainly focuses on the collection of data related to the neological lexicon: the exclusively historical-sociological one, which considers translations as historical-literary and socio-cultural documents without dwelling on the aesthetic-rhetorical values of the literary text. On the contrary, the value of such translations lies not only in their being (useful) witnesses to certain linguistic forms or certain sociological and historical contexts, but in the fact that they are autonomous literary texts. Composed exclusively of translations of literary works and technical texts, Marcovici’s output is a typical example of the extraordinary phenomenon of Romen translations in the first half of the nineteenth century. His prose translations of two of Alfieri’s tragedies, Oreste and Filippo, in a volume published in Bucharest in 1847, mark one of the high points of interest in Alfieri’s output in the Romanian nineteenth century. Such a late interest in an eighteenth-century author like Alfieri, who had played so much part in the Italian, Greek, and Romanian Enlightenment and Preromantic temperament, often cloaked in anti-Tyrannical nationalism, should not be surprising. Marcovici’s entire cultural activity shows a strong “anachronistic” inclination toward neoclassical themes, also motivated by his being professor of rhetoric at the College of St. Sava. For Marcovici, literature is not only to be considered in the same way as a “school of moralization”, but also a model for the correct use of literary language. It follows, therefore, that there should be a determined fidelity to the needs of popularization, to the “simple” style, to the naturalness of vocabulary and to the minimization of the needs of overdeveloped rhetorical language. The contribution will therefore go through some lexicographical, stylistic and rhetorical aspects of the two Alfierian translations, focusing on the “classicism” of Marcovici’s language."

Résumé :
The belief in spirits has diminished in Western thought since Enlightenment. But it has not disappeared totally. In the subconscious of people and in different subcultures and also in literature and art it is still alive. Derrida, before his death, worked out a new spectrology in which the status of reality of spirits is interpreted as absently present. In Sub-Saharan African thought this belief is broadly present and deeply rooted. It is the core of traditional African religions. Also intellectuals, although they may have taken over Christian or Islamic convictions, mostly stick to this belief. An important aspect of the African belief in spirits is that they also dwell in nature. In principle they can choose for all natural things to dwell in them, and there is a special inclination for trees. The spiritual conception of reality as a whole is called animism. This important religion has been devaluated in connection with colonialism. Recently the respect for nature which comes forth from this religion is highly appreciated by ecological philosophy.

Résumé :
Deciphering human genome has ushered modern bio-medical science towards a future hope of revitalizing current symptomatic or prophylactic treatment methods into personalized and predictive medicine depending upon an individual’s genetic makeup. Genetic variations related to person’s response towards drugs, differential susceptibility to disease and reciprocity of phenotypic attributes related to environment, ethno-racial origin and diseases to genotypes have not been meticulously apprehended yet. Acharya Charaka explains, “योगमासां तु यो विद्याद्देशकालोपपादितम् । पुरुषं पुरुषं वीक्ष्य स ज्ञेयॊ भिषगुत्तमः ॥ [1], that one is the best physician who knows how to administer the medicine in accordance with their region (habitation and procurement of medicinal plants) and time and Prakriti (Psychosomatic constitution) of each person individually. This is probably the first classical reference in the history of Indian medicine on Pharmacogenomics. Ayurveda classifying a person on the basis of “Prakriti” or unchangeable constitution type might be an advantageous inclination towards personalized medicine. Several genomic studies augmented the possibilities of yet undisclosed genetic basis of Ayurveda, which could further be integrated or complemented to current medical diagnosis and treatment. Further deep dive into the extremes of utilizable science and technology of this holistic practice remained quintessential for better enlightenment of future bio-medical science to fight all fiends of ailments. Résumé :
Economic knowledge and scientific method in the lombard enlightenment. Notes from «Il caffè». The connections, emerging between the 16th and the 18th century, between the evolution of economic knowledge and the rise of the scientific method, are important research topics for historians of economic ideas. However, further research on the application of the scientific method is still needed, especially when we come to the analysis of how economic principles took shape in Lombardy during the Enlightenment. The same need for further research concerns the debates on economic policy during the Age of Reforms in the latter half of the eighteenth century. This is even more necessary for Milanese Enlightenment scholars, who have been relatively neglected in comparison to the contemporary Neapolitan writers. A first aspect, enphasized in this paper, is the admiration expressed by the Lombard authors toward achievements coming from elsewhere, and particularly from outside Italy. Reading “Il Caffè”, together with the works and correspondence of Pietro and Alessandro Verri, Cesare Beccaria, Paolo Frisi and many other scholars, gives immediate and clear evidence of the Lombard attraction for the scientific tradition in mathematics, physics, astronomy, and, more generally, for the western tradition of epistemology and philosophy of science rooted in the works of Galileo, Bacon, Newton, Petty, Harvey and others. However, admiration and attraction never boil down to a passive acceptance of ready-made recipes, nor do they lead to mechanistic interpretations of the working of social and economic systems. It must be said that one of the original traits of the Lombard contribution during the enlightenment is the inclination to draw the appropriate epistemic distinction between the natural sciences on one side and the social and political sciences on the other side. The Lombard writers were precocious in keeping aloof from any acritical scientistic drift.

Résumé :
The second chapter elaborates on the history of Romantic monsters and their connections to comics monsters as well as the medium of comics. It describes the context of the burgeoning romantic visual culture, including the perpetuation of imaginative prints by William Blake and Francesco de Goya as well as the increase in freak shows and other forms of entertainment based on visual illusions. This underscores the close ties between entertainment, 'spectacularity' (which combines theatricality and the spectacle while also alluding to specters) and monsters, while also showing how more rebellious, anti-Enlightenment strains crept in through the interest in the abnormal and the increasing space offered for unbridled emotionality at the ends of both production and reception. The inclinations towards ambiguity and even human-like renditions discernible in the literary monsters created by Mary Shelley and Victor Hugo are discussed. Three monsters with strong romantic inclinations—Frankenstein’s monster, Baudelairian ennui, and the trickster (included for his playful ambiguity and love for the spectacle)—are introduced which personify the different potentialities of the medium while having commonalities with comics monsters.

Résumé :
The paper traces the development from the medieval, traditional union, through the modern disunion, toward a possible post-modern reunion of the sacred and the profane. It concentrates on the modern disunion and conflict between the religious and the secular, revelation and enlightenment, faith and autonomous reason in the Western world and beyond. It deals specifically with Christianity and the modern age, particularly liberalism, socialism and fascism of the 2Oth and the 21st centuries. The problematic inclination of Western Catholicism toward fascism, motivated by the fear of and hate against socialism and communism in the 20th century, and toward exclusive, authoritarian, and totalitarian populism and identitarianism in the 21st. century, is analyzed, compared and critiqued. Solutions to the problem are suggested on the basis of the Critical Theory of Religion and Society, derived from the Critical Theory of Society of the Frankfurt School. The critical theory and praxis should help to reconcile the culture wars which are continually produced by the modern antagonism between the religious and the secular, and to prepare the way toward post-modern, alternative Future III - the freedom of All on the basis of the collective appropriation of collective surplus value. Distribution and recognition problems are equally taken seriously.
