Résumé :
Electrically driven impact microactuators generate nanoscale displacements without large driving distances and high voltages. These systems exhibit complex dynamics because of inherent nonlinearities due to impacts, friction, and electric forces. As a result, dramatic changes in system behavior, associated with so-called grazing bifurcations, may occur during the transition between impacting and nonimpacting dynamics, including the presence of robust chaos. For successful open-loop operating conditions, the system design is limited to certain parameter regions, where desired system responses reside. The objective of this paper is to overcome this limitation to allow for a more precise displacement manipulation using impact microactuators. This is achieved through a closed-loop feedback scheme that successfully controls the system dynamics in the near-grazing region.

Résumé :
Background Stretch-induced neuropathy of the brachial plexus and median nerve in conventional perioperative care remains a relatively frequent and poorly understood complication. Guidelines for positioning have been formulated, although the protective effect of most recommendations remains unexamined. The similarity between the stipulated potentially dangerous positions and the components of the brachial plexus tension test (BPTT) justified the analysis of the BPTT to quantify the impact of various arm and neck positions on the peripheral nervous system. Methods Four variations of the BPTT in three different shoulder positions were performed in 25 asymptomatic male participants. The impact of arm and neck positions on the peripheral nervous system was evaluated by analyzing the maximal available range of motion, pain intensity, and type of elicited symptoms during the BPTT. Results Cervical contralateral lateral flexion, lateral rotation of the shoulder and fixation of the shoulder girdle in a neutral position in combination with shoulder abduction, and wrist extension all significantly reduced the available range of motion. Elbow extension also challenged the nervous system substantially. A cumulative impact could be observed when different components were simultaneously added, and a neutralizing effect was noted when an adjacent region allowed for unloading of the nervous system. Conclusions The experimental findings support the experientially based guidelines for positioning. Especially when simultaneously applied, submaximal joint positions easily load the nervous system, which may substantially compromise vital physiologic processes in and around the nerve. Therefore, even when the positioning of all upper limb joints is carefully considered, complete prevention of perioperative neuropathy seems almost inconceivable.

Résumé :
Purpose - Small independent brands from local companies often use underdog positioning to compete with established global brands. However, whether the effectiveness of underdog positioning of local businesses in the service sector remains insufficient. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the underdog effect on the preference of Korean consumers for individual service providers positioned as underdogs. Design/methodology - The author examines the research question of this study using a one-way ANOVA in three different positioning (underdog vs. top dog vs. control) between-subjects design, with a group of Korean participants. Findings - The experimental study shows that support for independent local (vs. global) service providers positioned as underdogs is straightforward. Using the lens of consumer identification with underdog biographies, this study found that consumers prefer small local service providers with passion and determination regardless of their disadvantages. Originality/value - To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first study to examine the effectiveness of underdog positioning in the context of individual service providers. As it competes with global service companies for domestic consumer preference in Korea, the findings have great implications for ensuring the sustainability of small local service providers.

Résumé :
This paper present simulation-based results on the impact of transmitter (Tx) position and orientation uncertainty on the accuracy of the visible light positioning (VLP) system based on the received signal strength (RSS). There are several constraining factors for RSS-based algorithms, particularly due to multipath channel characteristics and set-up uncertainties. The impact of Tx uncertainties on positioning error performance is studied, assuming a statistical modelling of the uncertainties. Simulation results show that the Tx uncertainties have a severe impact on the positioning error, which can be leveraged through the usage of more transmitters. Concerning a smaller Tx’s position uncertainty of 5 cm, the average positioning errors are 23.3, 15.1, and 13.2 cm with the standard deviation values of 6.4, 4.1, and 2.7 cm for 4-, 9-, and 16-Tx cases, respectively. While for a smaller Tx’ orientation uncertainty of 5°, the average positioning errors are 31.9, 20.6, and 17 cm with standard deviation values of 9.2, 6.3, and 3.9 cm for 4-, 9-, and 16-Tx cases, respectively.

Résumé :
Multipath is one of the major source of errors in precise Global Navigation Satellite System positioning. With the emergence of new navigation systems, such as Galileo, upgraded signals are progressively being used and are expected to provide greater resistance to the effects of multipath compared to legacy Global Positioning System (GPS) signals. The high quality of Galileo observations along with recent development of the Galileo space segment can therefore offer significant advantages to Galileo users in terms of the accuracy and reliability of positioning. The aim of this paper is to verify this hypothesis. The multipath impact was determined both for code and phase measurements as well as for positioning results. The code multipath error was determined using the Code-Minus-Carrier combination. The influence of multipath on phase observations and positioning error was determined using measurements on a very short baseline. In addition, the multipath was classified into two different types: specular and diffuse, using wavelet transform. The results confirm that the Galileo code observations are more resistant to the multipath effect than GPS observations. Among all of the observations examined, the lowest values of code multipath errors were recorded for the Galileo E5 signal. However, no advantage of Galileo over GPS was observed for phase observations and for the analysis of positioning results.

Résumé :
Changing the conditions of offshore environment influences the offshore units' stability. In paper, a study of the impact of marine environment on a jackup rig was implemented. Firstly, the procedures of departure, transit, and emplacement on any emergency jacking location / stand by location are reviewed. After that, the conditions of weather forecasting are predicted and computed such as wave and wind lengths, speeds, and heights. Maps of changing wind and wave conditions are plotted. Surveying methods are used to determine the final location of the jackup rig. Maps of positioning the jackup rig are constructed. Additionally, the impact forces on the rig derrick are therefore computed. The developed results are effectively predicting the safe conditions and optimizing the positioning survey of the rig.

Résumé :
The main objective of the present study is to perform an analysis of the space weather impact on the Latvian CORS (Continuously Operating GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Stations) GPS (Global Positioning System) observations, in situations of geomagnetic storms, sun flares and extreme TEC (Total Electron Content) and ROTI (Rate of change of TEC index) levels, by analyzing the results, i.e., 90-s kinematic post-processing solutions, obtained using Bernese GNSS Software v5.2. To complete this study, the 90-s kinematic time series of all the Latvian CORS for the period from 2007 to 2017 were analyzed, and a correlation between time series outliers (hereinafter referred to as faults) and extreme space weather events was sought. Over 36 million position determination solutions were examined, 0.6% of the solutions appear to be erroneous, 0.13% of the solutions have errors greater than 1 m, 0.05% have errors greater than 10 m, and 0.01% of the solutions show errors greater than 50 m. The correlation between faulty results, TEC and ROTI levels and Bernese GNSS Software v5.2 detected cycle slips was computed. This also includes an analysis of fault distribution depending on the geomagnetic latitude as well as faults distribution simultaneously occurring in some stations, etc. This work is the statistical analysis of the Latvian CORS security, mainly focusing on geomagnetic extreme events and ionospheric scintillations in the region of Latvia, with a latitude around 57°N.

Résumé :
The major isoforms of the GABAA (γ-aminobutyric acid type A) receptor are composed of two α, two β and one γ subunit. Thus α and β subunits occur twice in the receptor pentamer. As it is well documented that different isoforms of α and β subunits can co-exist in the same pentamer, the question is raised whether the relative position of a subunit isoform affects the functional properties of the receptor. We have used subunit concatenation to engineer receptors of well-defined subunit arrangement to study this question. Although all five subunits may be concatenated, we have focused on the combination of triple and dual subunit constructs. We review here what is known so far on receptors containing simultaneously α1 and α6 subunits and receptors containing β1 and β2 subunits. Subunit concatenation may not only be used to study receptors containing two different subunit isoforms, but also to introduce a point mutation into a defined position in receptors containing either two α or β subunits, or to study the receptor architecture of receptors containing unconventional GABAA receptor subunits. Similar approaches may be used to characterize other members of the pentameric ligand-gated ion channel family, including nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, glycine receptors and 5-HT3 (5-hydroxytryptamine) receptors.

Résumé :
This paper examines the impact of corporate strategy aggressiveness on the trend of financialization. Taking Chinese A-share listed companies of Shanghai and Shenzhen stock market from 2007 to 2018 as samples, the study finds that there is a positive correlation between corporate strategy aggressiveness and corporate financialization, that is, the more aggressive the company is, the higher its degree of financialization will be. Further research in this paper finds that there is a grouping moderating role of profitability and analyst concerns in the mechanism of the impact of corporate strategy on corporate financialization. Companies with weaker profitability and higher analyst attention level are more likely to have financialization tendency. The research of this paper expands the influencing factors of corporate financialization, and confirms that the degree of corporate strategy aggressiveness has a positive impact on corporate financialization, which has important practical significance for promoting the further development of strategic management practice of China's non-financial listed companies.

Résumé :
This paper analyses for the first time the impact of new GPS signals on positioning accuracy for dynamic urban applications, taking bus operations as an example. The performance assessment addresses both code measurement precision and positioning accuracy. The former is based on signal-to-noise ratio and estimation of multipath and noise by a combination of code and carrier phase measurements. The impact on positioning accuracy is derived by comparing the performance achievable with the conventional single frequency GPS only positioning both relative to reference trajectories from the integration of carrier phase measurements with data from a high grade inertial measurement unit. The results show that L5 code measurements have the highest precision, followed by L1 C/A and L2C. In the positioning domain, there is a significant improvement in two-dimensional and three-dimensional accuracy from dual frequency code measurements over the single frequency measurements, of 39% and 48% respectively, enabling more bus operation services to be supported.

Résumé :
Ocean acoustics is an important research topic in ocean engineering. Among them, the location of the impact point at sea is an important method to evaluate the firing accuracy of naval guns. Most of the traditional methods for locating the impact point at sea use the optical positioning principle, which is expensive and has a high false alarm rate. It is easy to be affected by natural conditions, such as marine visibility. Based on this, this paper proposes an improved location method of the impact point at sea based on the Beidou differential and acoustic array, which improves positioning accuracy greatly. First, through the simulation analysis of single array positioning error, this paper gives the basis of the positioning method, then deduces the positioning principle of this method in detail, and simulates and analyzes the positioning error of the double array. Finally, the simulation experiment of the voice signal is carried out to verify the positioning performance of the dual cross-array. The results show that the direction finding of the dual cross-array is very accurate, and the ranging error is relatively large. Among the five positioning points selected in this paper, the maximum relative direction-finding error is 0.33%, and the maximum relative ranging error is only about 1%, which is much better than the ranging performance of a single array. It has certain engineering application values and provides a certain reference for the design of the impact point positioning scheme at sea.

Résumé :
Although GPS positioning errors are now well described, there are still some uncertainties regarding the impact of some rare space weather phenomena on GPS positioning accuracy. Solar eclipses have been considered as one source of such rare events, so the 1999 solar eclipse gave the opportunity to collect horizontal GPS positioning data for further analysis. The results of statistical analysis show no deterioration of horizontal GPS positioning accuracy. Space weather, ionospheric and geomagnetic conditions were also carefully analysed and showed no significant activity. In conclusion, the experiment confirmed negligible impact of the 1999 solar eclipse on horizontal GPS positioning accuracy, and opens discussion concerning application of satellite positioning systems in space and ionospheric weather monitoring.

Résumé :
In order to improve the positioning accuracy and reduce the impact of indoor complex environment on WiFi positioning results, an improved fusion positioning algorithm based on WiFi–pedestrian dead reckoning is proposed. The algorithm uses extended Kalman filter as the fusion positioning filter of WiFi–pedestrian dead reckoning. Aiming at the problem of WiFi signal strength fluctuation, Bayesian estimation matching algorithm based on K-nearest neighbor is proposed to reduce the impact of the dramatic change of received signal strength indicator value on the positioning result effectively. For the cumulative error problem in pedestrian dead reckoning positioning algorithm, a post-correction module is used to reduce the error. The experimental results show that the algorithm can improve the shortcomings of these two algorithms and control the positioning accuracy within 1.68 m.

Résumé :
Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Global Positioning System (GPS) carrier phase-based precise positioning has been widely using in geodesy and surveying applications, and other high accuracy positioning and navigation applications in the last two decades. More Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are being developed and it is usually expected that combining GNSS will have a positive impact on positioning accuracy. This paper describes a case study carried out at Ningbo in China on the impact of multi-GNSS on RTK single epoch solutions. Both GPS and GLONASS are fully operational now. Moreover, the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) can be observed at Ningbo. Currently, only one QZSS satellite “MICHIBIKI” is operational. This paper carries out an early assessment of the impact of QZSS on GPS and GLONASS single-epoch high precision positioning (i.e., single-epoch positioning accuracy assessment) and investigates the multipath errors in the GPS, GLONASS and QZSS multi-frequency data.

Résumé :
As the location based services develop, more and more researches have been focused on the positioning technologies in mobile networks. The long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) system, commercialized as the 4th generation (4G) mobile communication system, is based on the following key features: the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the relay, the multiple input multiple outputs (MIMO), the carrier aggregation (CA), and the coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP). In this paper, the impact of these features on the existing positioning technology specified in the LTE-A standards is systematically investigated. Moreover, two approaches are proposed to take full advantage of these features in terms of positioning technologies and the key positioning parameters, including the reference signal time difference (RSTD) in the observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) technology and user equipment receiving time subtracting transmitting time (UE Rx-Tx) in the enhanced cell identity (E-CID) technology.

Résumé :
Purpose Grounded in regulatory mode theory (RMT), this study aims to investigate the impact of managers’ orientation for action (locomotion and assessment) in business-to-business positioning decision-making. Design/methodology/approach Data are collected using a scenario-based experimental design. Study 1 examines whether interest and involvement in recommending a positioning strategy depends on a manager’s regulatory mode orientation. The impact of such orientations on the likelihood of changing a recommended positioning strategy is the focus of Study 2. The moderating effects of task motivation (expected rewards resulting from a recommendation), market feedback and the line manager’s leadership style are examined. Findings Both assessment and locomotion are significant determinants of involvement in recommending a positioning strategy. The introduction of motivation as a moderator helps explain differences in level of interest in positioning decision-making. Locomotion, but not assessment, affects the likelihood of changing a recommended positioning strategy. Assessment amplifies the impact of locomotion, while none of the interaction effects between regulatory mode orientation and contextual factors is a significant determinant of changing a positioning strategy. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first application of RMT on positioning decision-making. Results from two experiments provide novel insights into the predictive relevance of managers’ preference in terms of involvement with the decision-making process and the likelihood of altering positioning.

Résumé :
In recent years, the application of impacts to precise positioning has been increased. Previously, the impulsive force or impact was generated by electromagnetic impulsive force or by the sudden deformation of a piezoelement. In this paper, a new actuator named as Air Impact Drive (AID) is introduced, in which the impact is generated by impulsive air pulse pressure. Free body diagrams and equations of this new actuator were drawn and determined. Experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement. The new actuator could displace a 0.2kg object at 0.1 of millimeter per pulse by pulse air pressure. By implementing suitable setup of parameters, the AID could move the object by continuous, constant air pressure with good linearity. This property is unique among other impact drives for positioning. By 0.3Mpa of source air pressure, the new actuator could move the mentioned object at the speed of approximately 13.4mm/s.

Résumé :
At present, the global positioning system has been widely used in outdoor positioning and navigation, but in buildings, thick walls made of cement and bricks have a certain blocking effect on satellite signals, resulting in severely weakened GPS signals, and also extremely it may have an impact on the positioning accuracy, so that the positioning task cannot be completed. Inertial sensor is a kind of sensor mainly detecting and measuring acceleration tilt impact vibration rotation and multi-degree-of-freedom motion, is an important part to solve navigation orientation and motion carrier control. Therefore, we need to study the positioning system and positioning method of the people in the building according to the indoor positioning technology. This article mainly uses inertial sensors as indoor positioning technology for related research. This technology mainly includes linked inertial navigation algorithm and pedestrian dead reckoning algorithm. This paper uses pedestrian dead reckoning algorithm to study the positioning system. The research shows that the PDR algorithm designed this time is more accurate for the positioning of pedestrian movement in the scene of the building. Compared with the previous algorithm research, it has increased by 1%-2% accuracy meets the expected accuracy requirements.

Résumé :
In this article I discuss the positive impact of the concept of positioning on identity studies, with particular reference to the analysis of narratives. I argue that the notion of positioning (particularly as developed in Bamberg’s 1997 three levels model), together with other constructs such as indexicality, has helped enormously in bridging the gap (particularly in interview based research) between interactionally-oriented and more traditionally oriented studies of narrative identities. I focus on level 3 positioning to argue that this construct allows for an approach to the construction of identity in discourse that occupies a middle ground between talk-in-interaction approaches that center exclusively on participant orientations at the local level and approaches that regard identity as basically determined by macro social processes and only manifested in discourse. To illustrate level 3 positioning I analyze a narrative taken from a corpus of stories of language conflict told by Latin American immigrant women to the US. I show that the narrator constructs her identity in relation to Discourses and ideologies about language and migration showing that interpretation of her positioning is based on close analysis of discourse at the local level, ethnographic data and understanding of macro social processes underlying power relations.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is threefold: to assess the impact of green brand positioning, consumers’ attitude toward green brands, and green brand knowledge on green product purchase intention; to investigate the influence of green brand knowledge on consumers’ attitude toward green brands; and to examine the moderating effect of green brand knowledge on the relationship between green brand positioning and green product purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire was utilized to gather the data (n=300) for this study. The purposive sampling technique was used, involving respondents who practice a green lifestyle and have had green product purchasing experience. The partial least squares (PLS) method, which is a variance-based technique for the analysis of structural equation modeling, was used to analyze the data, with the assistance of the SmartPLS computer program version 2.0. Findings Based on the standardized path coefficients of the structural model from the PLS results, green brand knowledge was found to be the most significant determinant of green product purchase intention. Knowledge of green brands has caused consumers to develop positive green marketing awareness and has bolstered their interest in fortifying the environment whilst preventing its degradation. Furthermore, green brand knowledge also impacted consumers’ attitude toward green brands. However, this factor was an insignificant moderator of the impact between green brand positioning and green product purchase intention. Practical implications Green brand positioning can be used by firms and businesses to better market their products and improve consumers’ green brand knowledge and attitude toward green brands, as well as increase green brand purchase intentions. Successful green brand positioning is seen as an advantage for marketers that can be used to differentiate their products from the available competitors, giving the impression that their products are distinguishable, and thus creating more demand and generating increased intention to purchase more green products. Originality/value The empirical results of this study address the gap in the prevailing body of literature in reference to the impact of green brand positioning and consumer attitude toward green brands, as well as the effect of green brand knowledge on green product purchase intention. This study found that green brand knowledge does not moderate the relationship between green brand positioning and green product purchase intention, thus providing insight into this subject matter, which has not been clearly examined in previous studies.

Résumé :
The BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) has been providing a regional service in the Asia–Pacific area since 27 December 2012, and a new Inclined Geosynchronous Satellite Orbit (IGSO) satellite IGSO-6 joined the 14-satellite constellation in operation on 29 March 2016. In this paper, the signal and positioning performance of IGSO-6 are assessed. Compared with other IGSOs, the carrier-to-noise-density ratios of IGSO-6 show comparable performance for the B3 signal and a lower power level for the B2 signal, while the B1 signal is more powerful and has the lowest noise and multipath errors. The satellite-induced code bias of IGSO-6 was investigated and indicates that IGSO-6 has similar characteristics to other IGSOs. The different inter-frequency bias variations among IGSOs with daily periodicity are demonstrated. The BDS positioning performances with IGSO-6 were investigated in Single Point Positioning (SPP) and Precise Point Positioning (PPP) modes at the 95% confidence level. For SPP, there was an improvement of about 4·9% and 3·6% in the horizontal and vertical components, respectively. The convergence time was improved by about 18·3% and 17·8% in the horizontal and vertical components for positioning accuracy to be better than 50 cm, respectively.

Résumé :
The ultra-short baseline underwater positioning is one of the most widely applied methods in underwater positioning and navigation due to its simplicity, efficiency, low cost, and accuracy. However, there exists environmental noise, which has negative impacts on the positioning accuracy during the ultra-short baseline (USBL) positioning process, which results in a large positioning error. The positioning result may lead to wrong decision-making in the latter processing. So, it is necessary to consider the error sources, and take effective measurements to minimize the negative impact of the noise. In our work, we propose a USBL positioning system with Kalman filtering to improve the positioning accuracy. In this system, we first explore a new kind of element array to accurately capture the acoustic signals from the object. We then organically combine the Kalman filters with the array elements to filter the acoustic signals, using the minimum mean-square error rule to obtain accurate acoustic signals. We got the high-precision phase difference information based on the non-equidistant quaternary original array and the phase difference acquisition mechanism. Finally, on account of the obtained accurate phase difference information and position calculation, we determined the coordinates of the underwater target. Comprehensive evaluation results demonstrate that our proposed USBL positioning method based on the Kalman filter algorithm can effectively enhance the positioning accuracy.

Résumé :
The construction of underwater geodetic networks (UGN) is crucial in marine geodesy. To provide high-precision kinematic positioning for underwater submersibles, an underwater acoustic geodetic network configuration of three seafloor base stations, one subsurface buoy, and one sea surface buoy is proposed. The simulation results show that, for a 3 km-deep sea, based on the proposed UGN, the submersible positioning range and positioning accuracy are primarily affected by the size of the seafloor base station array, while the height of the subsurface buoy has a greater impact on the submersible positioning accuracy than the positioning range. Considering current acoustic ranging technology, the kinematic positioning performance of the UGN is optimal when the seafloor base stations are 9~13 km apart and the subsurface buoy is less than 2.5 km above the seafloor, which can achieve a submersible positioning accuracy of less than 30 m within an underwater space of 25 km × 25 km × 3 km. The proposed cost-effective UGN configuration can provide high-precision submersible kinematic positioning performance for seafloor surveying and ocean precision engineering. The impact of the underwater environment on the acoustic transmission characteristics should be further investigated.

Résumé :
This paper deals with navigation of mobile device in outdoor and indoor environment by only navigation system or application. In the paper, the navigation system is proposed in the light of seamless navigation service. Main parts of the system from positioning point of view are based on GPS and WifiLOC system. WifiLOC is an indoor positioning system based on Wi-Fi technology. The proposal of the system will be described in detail. The system is implemented at the University of Zilina as a pilot, noncommercial project; therefore it is called University Mobile Navigation System (UMNS). The navigation system can be characterized as real-time system, that is, the system operations cannot be significantly delayed. Since delay of the system depends significantly on communication platform used for map information downloading or communication with the localization server. We decided to investigate an impact of the used communication platform on the time needs for some of the functions implemented in navigation system. Measurements were performed in the real-world application. Next experiment is focused on testing of the accuracy of used indoor positioning system. Outdoor positioning accuracy is not tested because GPS is utilized in outdoor, and this system was already exhaustively investigated.

Résumé :
The upcoming GNSS Galileo, with its new satellite geometry and frequency plan, will not only bring many benefits for navigation and positioning but also help to improve ionosphere delay estimation. This paper investigates ionosphere estimation with Galileo and compares it with the results from GPS-only and combined GPS-Galileo. The standard deviation of the Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) at a certain location can improve significantly by 40 per cent. Various Galileo configurations are considered to assess the differences in frequency plan and signals to be used. The IGS network, which is involved in producing the current IGS Global Ionosphere Map (GIM) is used in the simulation for more realistic results. A more accurate GIM will in its turn improve navigation and positioning performance.

Résumé :
Purpose – Cobranding is increasingly popular as a strategy for commercial success. Brand positioning strategies are central to marketing, yet the impact of perceptions of parent brands’ positioning on consumers’ perceptions of cobrand positioning has not been investigated. The aim of the present study is to fill this gap. Design/methodology/approach – Employing a quasi-experimental design, the authors create cobranding scenarios in three product categories (tablet computers, cosmetics, and smart phones). The data are collected via structured questionnaires resulting in 160 valid responses. The data are analyzed employing Partial Least Squares-based Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), and consumer evaluation of cobrands is tested in relationship to the prior positioning of the parent brands, product fit and brand fit, along with post-alliance positioning perceptions of the partner brands. Findings – The results confirm brand positioning as a robust indicator of consumer evaluation of cobrands. Positioning perceptions of partner brands are positively related to cobrand positioning perceptions. In addition, pre-alliance positioning significantly relate to post-alliance positioning, confirming cobranding as a viable strategy for partner brands. Research limitations/implications – The paper recommends research that could reveal the impact of differential brand equities of partner brands, such as, between a high-equity brand and a low/moderate-equity brand, mixed brand alliances – product/service; service/service, and at different levels of partner brand familiarity. Practical implications – Managers should design cobrand positioning based on existing positioning perceptions of the partner brands, rather than focussing on product fit and brand fit. Originality/value – The study demonstrates the focal role of positioning strategies of partner brands in consumer evaluation of cobrands.
