Studiul se axează pe explorarea expresiei plastice a troițelor populare moldovenești în piatră din secolul al XIX-lea. Fiind mai mult sculpturale, cu tendinţe de reprezentare volumetrică, ele reproduc fie naturalist, fie mai decorativ evenimentul dramatic al crucificării lui Iisus. În cazul troiţelor moldoveneşti, piatra a determinat, prin particularităţile ei de prelucrare, redarea trăsăturilor anatomice și a celor de portret, suplinite și prin detalii de costum. Valoarea artistică a acestor troițe populare moldovenești din piatră din secolul al XIX-lea este ne trecătoare în timp.

Résumé :

This paper combines social practice theory, new literacy studies, and critical media literacy. Media literacy allows citizens to participate in society through traditional and digital media. Using existing survey instruments such as the News Literacy Scale and the Internet Skills Survey with originally developed items, we observe media literacy as a social practice encompassing the dimensions of critical thinking, content production, and technical skills. The three dimensions were further operationalised into additive scales of the Critical perception of traditional news media (CPTNMS), Critical perception of digital tools (CPODTS), Media and social justice issues (MSJIS), Content production (CPSS), and Internet information search skills (IISSS). The results from a stratified survey conducted on a sample of adult Croatian citizens (n=1033), representative of gender, age, region, and education, show that age is the main predictor for all scales. The relation between scales shows a positive correlation between CPTNMS, CPODTS, and MSJIS. At the same time, CPTNMS, CPODTS, and MSJIS correlate negatively with the IISS. Those less skilled in internet search are less critical of traditional media and digital tools and are less convinced that media should cover social justice issues. Additionally, being more skilled in content production does not imply any other attitudinal relationship except for a negative association with the lack of IISSS. This paper contributes to the operationalisation of media literacy for sociological research and a better understanding of media literacy in the general population of Croatia.

Pendidikan era sekarang memiliki konsep atau sistem pendidikan yang baik bukan bangunannya yang bagus. Dalam hal ini terdapat salah satu SD di Manag yang menerapkan sistem berbasic internasional Pada Sekolah Dasar Indonesia Interactive Standart School atau SD IISS Kota Malang. Peneliti sangat tertarik untuk merumuskan penelitian ini 1) Bagaimana sistem yang ada dalam SD IISS ini? 2) Bagaimana Bentuk Perlindungan Hukum terhadap Sitem Pendidikan Internasional yang berupa Kurikulum tersebut?. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui danmenganalisis tentang konsep pendidikannya serta bentuk perlindungan hukumnya. Manfaat penelitian ini untuk memberikan hak paten atau hak cipta terhadap Kurikulum SD IISS. Kajian teori diambil dari Undang-undang Hak Paten dan konsepnya yang ditetapkan pada tanggal 26 agustus 2016 oleh Presiden Joko widodo serta bentuk perlindungan hukum terhadap pemilik paten tersebut. Metode penelitian melalui pendekatan empiris ataupenelitian lapangan yang dilaksakan oleh peneliti di SD IISS di Jalan Sarangan No.32 Kecamatan Lowokwaru Kota Malang. Penjelasan sistem yang dianut oleh SD IISS adalah murni dari sebuah karya pemikran intelektual yang orisinil, dan berkekuatan hukum karena sistem pendidikan yang dianut oleh SD IISS sudah diakui oleh diknas pendidikan kota Malang dan mendapat perizinan untuk pengelolan dan pengembangan sebuah pendidikan dalam hal ini adalah SD IISS. Bentuk perlindungan hukum hak paten sesuai dengan ketentuan peraturan perundang-undangan yang berlaku sehingga Pemilik karya intelektual disebut dengan istilah inventor. Résumé :

By examining the privacy policies of leading Chinese Internet and information service providers (IISPs), this study found their privacy policies to be generally compliant with China’s personal information protection provisions. These IISPs use proper mechanisms showing their commitment, measures and enforcement to data security, but their Fair Information Practices need improvement. Personal information protection in China is severe. Privacy policies offer more ‘notice’ than they do ‘choice’. Chinese IISPs collect and use information extensively in the guise of providing value to users, but have given insufficient consideration to transborder data flows and change of ownership. Societal and technological mechanisms have not been widely sought.

Résumé :

How to effectively deal with missing values in incomplete information systems (IISs) according to the research target is still a key issue for investigating IISs. If the missing values in IISs are not handled properly, they will destroy the internal connection of data and reduce the efficiency of data usage. In this paper, in order to establish effective methods for filling missing values, we propose a new information system, namely, a fuzzy set-valued information system (FSvIS). By means of the similarity measures of fuzzy sets, we obtain several binary relations in FSvISs, and we investigate the relationship among them. This is a foundation for the researches on FSvISs in terms of rough set approach. Then, we provide an algorithm to fill the missing values in IISs with fuzzy set values. In fact, this algorithm can transform an IIS into an FSvIS. Furthermore, we also construct an algorithm to fill the missing values in IISs with set values (or real values). The effectiveness of these algorithms is analyzed. The results showed that the proposed algorithms achieve higher correct rate than traditional algorithms, and they have good stability. Finally, we discuss the importance of these algorithms for investigating IISs from the viewpoint of rough set theory.

Résumé :

The neonatal period is critical for seizure susceptibility, and neocortical networks are central in infantile epilepsies. We report that application of 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) to immature (P6–P9) neocortical slices generates layer-specific interictal seizures (IISs) that transform after recurrent seizures to ictal seizures (ISs). During IISs, cell-attached recordings show action potentials in interneurons and pyramidal cells in L5/6 and interneurons but not pyramidal neurons in L2/3. However, L2/3 pyramidal neurons also fire during ISs. Using single N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) channel recordings for measuring the cell resting potential ( Em), we show that transition from IISs to ISs is associated with a gradual Em depolarization of L2/3 and L5/6 pyramidal neurons that enhances their excitability. Bumetanide, a NKCC1 co-transporter antagonist, inhibits generation of IISs and prevents their transformation to ISs, indicating the role excitatory GABA in epilepsies. Therefore deep layer neurons are more susceptible to seizures than superficial ones. The initiating phase of seizures is characterized by IISs generated in L5/6 and supported by activation of both L5/6 interneurons and pyramidal cells. IISs propagate to L2/3 via activation of L2/3 interneurons but not pyramidal cells, which are mostly quiescent at this phase. In superficial layers, a persistent increase in excitability of pyramidal neurons caused by Em depolarization is associated with a transition from largely confined GABAergic IIS to ictal events that entrain the entire neocortex.

Résumé :

This article explores Iranian international students’ (IISs) experiences of human dignity (HD) within Canadian universities. Drawing on in-depth interviews with 24 current and former IISs, We created a conceptual HD framework to analyze the data. Three themes emerged as key to IISs’ experiences of HD in the context of postsecondary education: 1) the relationship between students and university faculty/staff, 2) gender equality and freedom, and, 3) having a minority or marginalized identity. We conclude with observations about how an awareness of students’ HD experiences could strengthen the support offered to international students (ISs).

Résumé :

An investigation of the input-to-state practical stability (ISpS) and the integral input-to-state practical stability (iISpS) of nonlinear systems with time delays (NSWTDs) is presented in this paper. The ISpS and iISpS of the systems are obtained by using a continuously differentiable Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional (LKF) within-definite derivative, which generalizes the classical LKF with a positive definite derivative. As a result, the uniform practical asymptotic stability (UPAS) criteria of NSWTD were also given by using the proposed LKF.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network generates great economic benefits in processes, system installation, maintenance, reliability, scalability, and interoperability. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) allow the IIoT network to collect, process, and share data of different parameters among Industrial IoT sense Node (IISN). ESP8266 are IISNs connected to the Internet by means of a hub to share their information. In this article, a light-diffusion algorithm in WSN to connect all the IISNs is designed, based on the Peano fractal and swarm intelligence, i.e., without using a hub, simply sharing parameters with two adjacent IINSs, assuming that any IISN knows the parameters of the rest of these devices, even if they are not adjacent. We simulated the performance of our algorithm and compared it with other state-of-the-art protocols, finding that our proposal generates a longer lifetime of the IIoT network when few IISNs were connected. Thus, there is a saving-energy of approximately 5% but with 64 nodes there is a saving of more than 20%, because the IIoT network can grow in a 3 n way and the proposed topology does not impact in a linear way but log 3 , which balances energy consumption throughout the IIoT network.

Remote sensing has been widely used for oil spill monitoring in open waters. However, research on remote sensing monitoring of oil spills in ice-infested sea waters (IISWs) is still scarce. The spectral characteristics of oil-contaminated sea ice (OCSI) and clean sea ice (CSI) and their differences are an important basis for oil spill detection using visible/near-infrared (VNIR) remote sensing. Such features and differences can change with the observation geometry, affecting the identification accuracy. In this study, we carried out multi-angle reflection observation experiments of oil-contaminated sea ice (OCSI) and proposed a kernel-driven bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) model, Walthall–Ross thick-Litransit-Lisparse-r-RPV (WaRoLstRPV), which takes into account the strong forward-scattering characteristics of sea ice. We also analyzed the preferred observation geometry for oil spill monitoring in IISWs. In the validation using actual measured data, the proposed WaRoLstRPV performed well, with RMSEs of 0.0031 and 0.0026 for CSI and OCSI, respectively, outperforming the commonly used kernel-driven BRDF models, Ross thick-Li sparse (R-LiSpr), QU-Roujean (Qu-R), QU-Lisparse R-r-RPV (Qu-LiSpr-RrRPV), and Walthall (Wa). The observation geometry with a zenith angle around 50° and relative azimuth ranging from 250° to 290° is preferred for oil spill detection in IISWs.

Résumé :

We analyze scaling problems arising in modern intelligent information systems (IISs) and classify main reasons for their occurrence in their practical solutions. IISs integrate various elements of artificial intelligence (AI) for acquisition of knowledge relevant to actual user tasks. Important properties of these IISs are use of data with complex structure and orientation on semantic information resources (IRs). Therefore we analyze main features of the Data-Centric AI and opportunities for acquiring domain knowledge in various representations from Big Data. Knowledge organization systems (KOS) provide models and methods for effective store, retrieval and use of information processed by the Web-oriented IISs, and we consider existing approaches for their software platforms.We analyse the specifics of the scaling for systems focused on the semantic information processing and its differences from traditional data and Big Data scaling. This specifics is caused by complexity of data structure, number of various semantic relations between information objects into IR and complexity of semantic queries executed by KOS. On example of e-VUE – the Wiki-portal of the Great Ukrainian Encyclopedia – we analyze various situations that arise in process of practical development of semantic information resources with large volume and complex structure. Various ways of semantic retrieval into this information resource that use possibilities of the Semantic MediaWiki plugin are considered from the point of view of scaling aspects (such as increase of information objects, their relations and complication of their structure and characteristics). On base of this analysis we generate a set of recommendations aimed at ensuring more efficient development of such resources and their efficient functioning for practical use.

Résumé :

The objective of the work reported herein was to use a systems engineering approach to guide development of integrated instrumentation/sensor systems (IISS) incorporating communications, interconnections, and signal acquisition. These require enhanced suitability and effectiveness for diagnostics and health management of aerospace equipment governed by the principles of Condition-based maintenance (CBM). It is concluded that the systems engineering approach to IISS definition provided clear benefits in identifying overall system requirements and an architectural framework for categorizing and evaluating alternative architectures, relative to a bottom up focus on sensor technology blind to system level user needs. CBM IISS imperatives identified include factors such as tolerance of the bulk of aerospace equipment operational environments, low intrusiveness, rapid reconfiguration, and affordable life cycle costs. The functional features identified include interrogation of the variety of sensor types and interfaces common in aerospace equipment applications over multiplexed communication media with flexibility to allow rapid system reconfiguration to adapt to evolving sensor needs. This implies standardized interfaces at the sensor location (preferably to open standards), reduced wire/connector pin count in harnesses (or their elimination through use of wireless communications).

The wood-based housing market in Chile requires a complementary review that considers the competitive advantages of this material regarding its technical features and structural properties, to strengthen compliance with the Chilean General Urban Planning and Construction Ordinance (OGUC, in Spanish) and the Sustainable Building Codes. The purpose of this research was to develop an Integrated Sustainability and Safety Indicator (IISS, in Spanish), which integrates regulatory, social, territorial, and environmental aspects, considering (1) presentation, (2) sustainability, and (3) safety variables for wooden houses. For this, information was collected from 230 wood construction companies located between the regions of Valparaíso and Los Ríos, in Central Chile, where product presentation and safety were highlighted as inputs to calculate the IISS. This integration resulted in a classification of useful technical indicators to promote wood use as a construction option that prevails over or complements other building options.

As Internet of Things (IoT) is extensively employed in diverse realistic areas, it is vital to effectively and timely analyze the data collected by IoT devices. To cope with this problem, by integrating adjustable MG SF probabilistic rough sets (PRSs) with the TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese of interactive and multi-criteria decision-making) method, this paper explores a three-way multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) approach in the context of multigranulation (MG) spherical fuzzy (SF) incomplete information systems (IISs) and further applies the presented method to the analysis of leg muscle data obtained from Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices for Parkinson’s patients. First, the concept of MG SF IISs is established, and the completion method is provided. Then, adjustable MG SF PRSs are proposed for information fusion. Afterwards, considering the bounded rationality of decision-makers (DMs), a new three-way MAGDM method is designed by fusing adjustable MG SF PRSs with the TODIM method. Finally, in the context of IoMT-based detecting abnormal knee joints in Parkinson’s patients, the applicability and validity of the presented method are eventually verified.

ABSTRACT Alliances are an important strategic tool for many companies. However, they are inherently risky and a large percentage of alliances fail. We examine the effects of integrated information systems (IISs) and alliance formalization (i.e., formal alliance controls) on information exchange risk and overall alliance risk. We develop a model that predicts that when firms are engaged in alliances with greater collaboration intensity (i.e., alliances with multiple objectives) they are more likely to use an IIS and a broad portfolio of formal controls to manage alliance risk. Using a survey of chief financial officers, we find that collaboration intensity is positively associated with IIS and alliance formalization. IISs are negatively associated with information exchange risk, but this effect is mediated by alliance formalization, suggesting that the formal controls implemented throughout the alliance, and within the IIS, are integral to reducing information exchange risk and, subsequently, overall alliance risk. Our study adds to the literature examining tools and strategies for effectively managing strategic alliances. JEL Classifications: B20; C31; C42; M40.

Interictal spikes (IISs) represent burst firing of a small focal population of hypersynchronous, hyperexcitable cells. Whether cerebral blood flow (CBF) is adequate to meet the metabolic demands of this dramatic increase in membrane excitability is unknown. Positron emission tomography, single photon emission computed tomography, and functional magnetic resonance imaging studies have shown increases in CBF and hypometabolism, thus indicating the likelihood of adequate perfusion. We measured tissue oxygenation and CBF in a rat model of IIS using oxygen electrodes and laser-Doppler flowmetry. A ∼3-second dip in tissue oxygenation was shown, followed by more prolonged tissue hyperoxygenation, in spite of a 25% increase in CBF. Increases in the number of spikes, as well as in their amplitude and spike width further amplified these responses, and a decrease in interspike interval decreased the CBF response. Altering the anesthetic did not influence our results. Taken together, these findings indicate that frequent, high-amplitude IISs may produce significant tissue hypoxia, which has implications for patients with epilepsy and noninvasive techniques of seizure localization.

Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) is becoming increasingly used for achieving target glycemic control as well as providing flexibility in lifestyle. In a widely used version of CSII, the insulin pump itself is attached to one end of an insulin infusion set (IIS), which delivers insulin via a thin flexible plastic tube to the patient’s body via a cannula or needle that is inserted under the skin at the other end of the IIS. Despite the increased use of CSII by patients with diabetes, there have been few recent advances in IIS technology, especially when compared to the many recent advances made in insulin pump technology and in insulin pharmacokinetics. To discuss recent developments in, and future plans for IIS development, Diabetes Technology Society virtually hosted the Advances in Insulin Pump Infusion Sets Symposium on December 1, 2020. This symposium featured experts in the field of IISs, including representatives from Medtronic and ConvaTec (which are two manufacturers that are currently developing IISs), Stanford University, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, and Science Consulting in Diabetes. The webinar’s six speakers covered (1) patient burden, (2) extended wear technology, and (3) future directions in IIS development.

La institucionalización de la investigación educativa en México ha propiciado una práctica profesionalizada y profesionalizante, con un reconocimiento y estatus peculiares, en este sentido, el objetivo fue identificar la influencia de las condiciones materiales y simbólicas, así como la apropiación de capitales que regulan la producción y reproducción de las prácticas académicas de los investigadores del Instituto de Investigaciones sobre la Universidad y la Educación, de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM-IISUE). Para tal efecto, se recuperó la Teoría de la Economía de las Prácticas Sociales de Bourdieu donde se establece que las relaciones sociales no se dan de manera espontánea ni casual, sino que están condicionadas por un entorno social que da pauta a pensar, percibir, decidir y actuar de una manera particular. Metodológicamente se recuperaron técnicas que potencializaron la relación entre las variables analíticas y las categorías interpretativas, posibilitando de esta manera la articulación entre las condiciones objetivas y la producción de subjetividad. De los principales resultados, se destaca la construcción analítica de clases sociales en el espacio académico del IISUE, a saber: consolidados, principiantes y heréticos; en adición, dicha construcción permitió relacionar las disposiciones de las y los investigadores que regulan las prácticas de diferenciación y clasificación de la comunidad científica. A manera de conclusión, se identificó que el volumen y estructura de capital de los investigadores configura y reconfigura el campo académico y es a través de sus prácticas sociales que tienden a reproducir los mecanismos de poder y desigualdad propios del campo bajo análisis.

ObjectiveTo describe the epidemiology of illness at the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games.MethodsA total of 3657 athletes from 78 countries, representing 83.5% of all athletes at the Games, were monitored on the web-based injury and illness surveillance system (WEB-IISS) over 51 198 athlete days during the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games. Illness data were obtained daily from teams with their own medical support through the WEB-IISS electronic data capturing systems.ResultsThe total number of illnesses was 511, with an illness incidence rate (IR) of 10.0 per 1000 athlete days (12.4%). The highest IRs were reported for wheelchair fencing (14.9), para swimming (12.6) and wheelchair basketball (12.5) (p<0.05). Female athletes and older athletes (35–75 years) were also at higher risk of illness (both p<0.01). Illnesses in the respiratory, skin and subcutaneous and digestive systems were the most common (IRs of 3.3, 1.8 and 1.3, respectively).Conclusion(1) The rate of illness was lower than that reported for the London 2012 Summer Paralympic Games; (2) the sports with the highest risk were wheelchair fencing, para swimming and wheelchair basketball; (3) female and older athletes (35–75 years) were at increased risk of illness; and (4) the respiratory system, skin and subcutaneous system and digestive system were most affected by illness. These results allow for comparison at future Games.

This paper considers the problem of global output feedback control for a class of nonlinear systems with inverse dynamics. The main contribution of paper is that: For the inverse dynamics with uncertain ISS/iISS supply rates, and the systems being disturbed by L2 noises, we construct a reduced-order observer-based output feedback controller, which drives the output of system to zero and maintain other closed-loop signals bounded. Finally, a simulation example shows the effectiveness of the control scheme.
