Résumé :
We describe filtering by short‐period multiples in one dimension using a combination of the O’Doherty‐Anstey (1971) formula with a stochastic model in which the autocorrelation of acoustic impedance decreases exponentially with lag [Formula: see text] while the spectrum of reflection coefficients rises with frequency up to a corner, then is approximately constant, [Formula: see text] An impedance log with these statistics is a generalization of the classic random telegraph wave. The parameter [Formula: see text], the mean‐square fractional fluctuation of impedance, is typically less than 1 percent, although we show an example where it is as high as 13 percent. The corner frequency [Formula: see text] is inversely related to average bed thickness. Typical values are 50–100 Hz, at the upper end of the normal seismic band. The cyclic stratification discussed by O’Doherty and Anstey (1971) and others corresponds to [Formula: see text] above the seismic band. Some logs have more reflection power at low frequencies than predicted from high frequencies by this model. We describe in both frequency and time domains the filtering of a seismic wavelet by multiples in such a stratigraphic sequence. The impulse response has a direct arrival, followed by a long tail of multiply scattered energy. The greater the impedance fluctuations or the longer the traveltime, the more amplitude is transferred from the primary to the multiples. We discuss in less detail several other models, including periodic and nearly periodic bedding. We also include two numerical applications of the O’Doherty‐Anstey formula; we show on a specific logged interval the formula’s remarkable accuracy for both attenuation and time delay; and we describe the reduction in computed time delay due to coarser sampling of the log.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT Trend filtering – first introduced into the astronomical literature in Paper I of this series – is a state-of-the-art statistical tool for denoising 1D signals that possess varying degrees of smoothness. In this work, we demonstrate the broad utility of trend filtering to observational astronomy by discussing how it can contribute to a variety of spectroscopic and time-domain studies. The observations we discuss are (1) the Lyman-α (Lyα) forest of quasar spectra; (2) more general spectroscopy of quasars, galaxies, and stars; (3) stellar light curves with planetary transits; (4) eclipsing binary light curves; and (5) supernova light curves. We study the Lyα forest in the greatest detail – using trend filtering to map the large-scale structure of the intergalactic medium along quasar-observer lines of sight. The remaining studies share broad themes of: (1) estimating observable parameters of light curves and spectra; and (2) constructing observational spectral/light-curve templates. We also briefly discuss the utility of trend filtering as a tool for 1D data reduction and compression.

Résumé :
This work proposes a simple filtering approach that can be applied to digital surface models in order to extract digital terrain models. The method focusses on robustness and computational efficiency and is in particular tailored to filter DSMs that are extracted from satellite stereo images. It represents an evolution of an existing DTM generation method and includes distinct advancement through the integration of multi-directional processing as well as slope dependent filtering, thus denoted “MSD filtering”. The DTM generation workflow is fully automatic and requires no user interaction. Exemplary results are presented for a DSM generated from a Pléiades tri-stereo image data set. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations with respect to highly accurate reference LiDAR data confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Résumé :
During last years, the combination of several filtering techniques for the development of anti-spam systems has gained a enormous popularity. However, although the accuracy achieved by these models has increased considerably, its use has entailed the emergence of new challenges such as the need to reduce the excessive use of computational resources, the increase of filtering speed and the adjustment of the weights used for the combination of several filtering techniques. In order to achieve this goal we have been refined several aspects including: (i) the design and development of small technical improvements to increase the overall performance of the filter, (ii) application of genetic algorithms to increase filtering accuracy and (iii) the use of scheduling algorithms to improve filtering throughput.

Network loads close to Ethernet wire speed and latency sensitive data in a Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) system, represent challenging requirements for FTI network equipment. Loss of data due to network congestion, overflow on the end nodes, as well as packet latency above a few hundred microseconds, can be critical during a flight test. To avoid these problems, several advanced packet filtering and network optimization functions are required in order to achieve best possible performance and thus avoid loss of data. This paper gives insight into how to properly engineer an Ethernet based FTI network and how to use advanced Ethernet switch techniques such as Quality of Service (QoS) and rate shaping.

The goal of this thesis is to improve the numerical accuracy for aeroacoustic flow simulations in a given scope, that is an industrial application for a partnership with the aircraft company Dassault Aviation. These works are then looking for a new large eddy simulation (LES) model which is efficient and well suited for the finite element formulation and the SUPG/GLS stabilisation method. In order to clarify the scientific environment and numerical tools, a first part is devoted to the theoretical and practical framework of the AETHER code. The spatial and temporal performances of its numerical schemes are assessed too. The philosophy of the Variational Multi-scale models has been selected to build an improvement for the new subgrid model. Indeed, a previous thesis had already demonstrated the relevance of this kind of models especially for the finite element method. Despite the industrial framework, a general reflection on the numerical filtering in finite elements is suggested and a new filtering process is developed in order to sort efficiently the scales of the simulated flow. This new filtering method is especially well fitted to finite element simulations and the high spatial order schemes. An hybrid model has been developed too in order to be able to use the new VMS model in complex configurations involving solid bodies. The filtering process is assessed on an academic case called Taylor-Green vortices and shows a real benefit compare to classical approaches. Finally the whole model is used to compute an industrial configuration, a three-element high-lift device called LEISA II. Thank to the validation of the new model with the experimental results, it has been possible to find accurate explanations about the complex flow behaviour of the slat and its noise generation. This last part is a relevant demonstration of the LES models use in the industrial world even if they are still costly in computation ressources

Résumé :
The overall aim of the study was to investigate barriers to online professional information seeking, use and sharing occurring within the NHS in England, their possible effects (upon education, working practices, working lives and clinical and organisational effectiveness), and possible explanatory or causative factors. The investigation adopted a qualitative case study approach, using semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis as its methods, with three NHS Trusts of different types (acute - district general hospital, mental health / community, acute – teaching) as the nested sites of data collection. It aimed to be both exploratory and explanatory. A stratified sample of participants, including representatives of professions whose perspectives were deemed to be relevant, and clinicians with educational or staff development responsibilities, was recruited for each Trust. Three non-Trust specialists (the product manager of a secure web gateway vendor, an academic e-learning specialist, and the senior manager at NICE responsible for the NHS Evidence electronic content and web platform) were also interviewed. Policy documents, statistics, strategies, reports and quality accounts for the Trusts were obtained via public websites, from participants or via Freedom of Information requests. Thematic analysis following the approach of Braun and Clarke (2006) was adopted as the analytic method for both interviews and documents. The key themes of the results that emerged are presented: barriers to accessing and using information, education and training, professional cultures and norms, information governance and security, and communications policy. The findings are discussed under three main headings: power, culture, trust and risk in information security; use and regulation of Web 2.0 and social media, and the system of professions. It became evident that the roots of problems with access to and use of such information lay deep within the culture and organisational characteristics of the NHS and its use of IT. A possible model is presented to explain the interaction of the various technical and organisational factors that were identified as relevant. A number of policy recommendations are put forward to improve access to published information at Trust level, as well as recommendations for further research.

Denominación A.2. Ubicación del acceso a la hemeroteca A.3. Información sobre la hemeroteca A.4. Coste A.5. Productos documentales B.1. Colecciones disponibles B.2. Formatos disponibles B.3. Cobertura temporal C.1.

Workflow Mining is a quite new and unknown technology. Many people do not know how large its area of application and how powerful its possibilities are. There are still open questions and discrepancies, which could not be solved by existing works. This thesis shows the basics and gives an overview over the state of the art. Such an overview misses until now. A selection of works by different authors is being summarized, Including recognition of anomalies, implicit dependencies and methods to visualize the produced model in a better way. All known procedures have their weaknesses and that's why criteria are introduced to compare their different procedures and to score their pros and cons. The topic security is also not left blank.

Today it is necessary to be well informed and the characteristics of the information we need systems that work with natural language or where control of the terms is minimal. For this work we have created a stemmer by a finite state machine nondeterministic order to apply to the recovery of information in Spanish. Function is to remove the suffix stemmer automatically and establish their motto. From the stem is indexing and recovery. To test the effectiveness, stemming experiments are performed inflected and derivative, combining this with the removal of stop words.

Résumé :
Internet has dramatically changed the ways of communication and access to information. The large amount of information available on the web and the lack of filters for publication imply that people face great difficulties in accessing to high quality information. Deficiencies of Internet search engines and the lack of information literacy bring more restrictions to achieve an efficient access to valuable web resources. To address these problems and provide their users with high quality web resources, libraries have designed and implemented different solutions. Subject gateways are probably the more effective of them because they use all the library background to identify, select, catalog, classify and disseminate internet resources. The objective of this research is to carry out an assessment of the quality of subject gateways in the last years in order to detect their strengths and weaknesses, observe their evolution, and identify best practices. For this purpose, we design a specific tool for assessing the quality of subject gateways, which includes 30 items divided in three main categories: access to information, management and value-added elements. The tool was applied to a sample of 30 subject gateways in 2007 and 2012. We find substantial differences across the subjects gateways under analysis and that their average quality is quite good in the two first categories but not in the last one. Regarding the temporal evolution, we only observe improvements on valued added services, but they are no significant.

Résumé :
Introduction During the Covid-19 pandemic, non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs) aimed to minimise the spread of the virus as much as possible to avoid the most severe cases and the collapse of health systems. These measures included mobility restrictions in several countries, including Spain. Objective To assess the impact of mobility constraints on incidence, transmission, severe cases and mortality in the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic. These constraints include: • Mandatory home confinement. • - Recommendation to stay at home. • - Perimeter closures for entry and/or exit from established areas. • - Restriction of night-time mobility (curfew). Methodology Systematic literature review, including documents from official bodies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The following reference databases were consulted until October 2021 (free and controlled language): Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, TripDB, Epistemonikos, Royal college of London, COVID-end, COVID-19 Evidence Reviews, WHO, ECDC and CDC. Study selection and quality analysis were performed by two independent researchers. References were filtered firstly by title and abstract and secondly by full text in the Covidence tool using a priori inclusion and exclusion criteria. Synthesis of the results was done qualitatively. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the AMSTAR-II tool. Results The literature search identified 642 studies, of which 38 were excluded as duplicates. Of the 604 potentially relevant studies, 12 studies (10 systematic reviews and 2 official agency papers) were included in the analysis after filtering. One of the official agency papers was from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the other paper was from the Ontario Agency for Health Promotion and Protection (OHP). The result of the quality assessment with the AMSTAR-II tool of the included systematic reviews was: 3 reviews of moderate quality, 6 reviews of low quality and 1 review of critically low quality. The interventions analysed in the included studies were divided into 2 categories: the first category comprised mandatory home confinement, recommendation to stay at home and curfew, and the second category comprised perimeter blocking of entry and/or exit (local, cross-community, national or international). This division is because the included reviews analysed the measures of mandatory home confinement, advice to stay at home and curfew together without being able to carry out a disaggregated analysis. The included systematic reviews for the evaluation of home confinement, stay-at-home advice and curfew express a decrease in incidence levels, transmission and severe cases following the implementation of mobility limitation interventions compared to the no measure comparator. These conclusions are supported by the quantitative or qualitative results of the studies they include. All reviews also emphasise that to increase the effectiveness of these restrictions it is necessary to combine them with other public health measures. In the systematic reviews included for the assessment of entry and/or exit perimeter closure, most of the studies included in the reviews were found to be modelling studies based on mathematical models. All systematic reviews report a decrease in incidence, transmission and severe case levels following the implementation of travel restriction interventions. The great heterogeneity of travel restrictions applied, such as travel bans, border closures, passenger testing or screening, mandatory quarantine of travellers or optional recommendations for travellers to stay at home, makes data analysis and evaluation of interventions difficult. Conclusions Mobility restrictions in the development of the Covid-19 pandemic were one of the main NPI measures implemented. It can be concluded from the review that there is evidence for a positive impact of NPIs on the development of the COVID-19 pandemic. The heterogeneity of the data from the included studies and their low quality make it difficult to assess the effectiveness of mobility limitations in a disaggregated manner. Despite this, all the included reviews show a decrease in incidence, transmission, hospitalisations and deaths following the application of the measures under study. These measures are more effective when the restrictions were implemented earlier in the pandemic, were applied for a longer period and were more rigorous in their application.

Résumé :
The Western approach to dance is largely focused on control and mastery of technique, both of which are certainly necessary skills for improving performance. But mindful attention, despite its critical role in high performance, has gotten short shrift—until now. Attention and Focus in Dance, a how-to book rooted in the 20 years of attentional focus findings of researcher Gabriele Wulf, will help dancers unlock their power and stamina reserves, enabling efficient movement, heightening their sensory perception and releasing their dance potential. Author Clare Guss-West—a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and holistic practitioner—presents a systematic, science-based approach to the mental work of dance. Her approach helps dancers hone the skills of attention, focus and self-cueing to replenish energy and enhance their physical and artistic performance. A Unique, Research-Based Approach Here is what Attention and Focus in Dance offers readers: • A unique approach, connecting the foundations of Eastern movement with Western movement forms • Research-based teaching practices in diverse contexts, including professional dance companies, private studios, and programmes for dancers with special needs or movement challenges • Testimonies and tips from international professional dancers and dance educators who use the book's approach in their training and teaching • A dance-centric focus that can be easily integrated into existing training and teaching practice, in rehearsal, or in rehabilitation contexts to provide immediate and long-term benefits Guss-West explores attentional focus techniques for dancers, teachers and dance health care practitioners, making practical connections between research, movement theory and day-to-day dance practice. “Many dancers are using excessive energy deployment and significant counterproductive effort, and that can lead to a global movement dysfunction, lack of stamina and an increased risk of injury,” says Guss-West. “Attentional focus training is the most relevant study that sport science and Eastern-movement practice can bring to dance.” Book Organisation The text is organised into two parts. Part I guides dancers in looking at the attentional challenges and information overload that many professional dancers suffer from. It outlines the need for a systematic attention and focus strategy, and it explains how scientific research on attentional focus relates to dance practice. This part also examines the ways in which Eastern-movement principles intersect with and complement scientific findings, and it examines how the Eastern and scientific concepts can breathe new life into basic dance elements such as posture, turnout and port de bras. Attention and focus techniques are included for replenishing energy and protecting against energy depletion and exhaustion. Part II presents attention and focus strategies for teaching, self-coaching and cueing. It addresses attentional focus cues for beginners and for more advanced dancers and professionals, and it places attentional focus in the broader context of holistic teaching strategies. Maximising Dance Potential “Whether cueing others or yourself, cueing for high performance is an art,” Guss-West says. “Readers will discover how to format cues and feedback to facilitate effective neuromuscular response and enhance dancer recall of information and accessibility while dancing.” Attention and Focus in Dance offers an abundance of research-backed concepts and inspirational ideas that can help dancers in their learning and performance. This book aids readers in filtering information and directing their focus for optimal physical effect. Ultimately, it guides dancers and teachers in being the best version of themselves and maximising their potential in dance.

Résumé :
Motion detection, velocity filtering and the detection of change in a given scene are all important aspects for optical processing architectures and systems. So far several different techniques have been reported in the literature that use either all optical [1-4], or hybrid (optical plus electronic) [5-6], schemes to implement novelty filter [1] type operations. The electronic techniques however may have only limited applications due to the sequential nature of the process. For essentially all-optical schemes the intrinsic advantages of parallel image subtraction are clear. In this paper we report a different scheme for motion detection and velocity filtering which uses two spatially multiplexed gratings with a relative phase shift of 180 degrees, (known as complementary gratings). Such grating recording has already been implemented in a LiNbO3 crystal [7].

Résumé :
The nonlinearities of photorefractive materials such as Fe:LiNbO3, BSO, BGO,… are used to filter the Fourier spectrum of an object. Image processing techniques, such as contrast inversion or contrast enhancement of amplitude objects, and phase objects visualization are thus obtained with simple optical devices and low power cw lasers.
