La « fluidité architecturale » est un oxymore, délibérément choisi, pour mettre l'accent sur les valences de fluidité par rapport aux caractéristiques intrinsèques de l'architecture : comparée aux autres domaines artistiques (littérature, arts plastiques, danse, théâtre, cinéma, photographie, etc.), l’architecture n'est pas seulement pensée, interprétée ou illustrée, mais elle est également construite, habitée et solide. Puisque la fluidité architecturale est une métaphore et la notion de fluidité est abstraite par rapport à l’architecture, ce terme est relié, par une analogie à la mécanique des fluides, aux processus plus concrets qui peuvent être retrouvés en physique. En admettant que l’association des termes « fluide-solide » peut être confuse, la première partie de cette thèse est consacrée à définir la « fluidité » et à identifier ses racines dans l’histoire de l’architecture. La deuxième partie se concentre sur l’analyse « fluidique » d’une série de vingt projets contemporains. Cette analyse, fondée sur les discours architecturaux des concepteurs, détermine le degré de fluidité présente dans la production architecturale contemporaine et établit de nouvelles correspondances entre les différents projets. Cette thèse constitue à la fois un travail sur un concept théorique (par l’analogie avec la mécanique des fluides) et sur une manière de représenter la pensée du projet (par l’analyse fluidique)
"Architectural fluidity" is an oxymoron, chosen deliberately in order to emphasize the fluidity expressions related to the intrinsic characteristics of architecture: compared to other arts (literature, visual arts, dance, theater, cinema, photography etc.), architecture is not only thought, interpreted or illustrated, but also is built, inhabited and solid. Considering architectural fluidity as a metaphor and the idea of fluidity as an abstract architectural concept, this term is associated by analogy to fluid mechanics to processes with accurate explanations found in physics. Assuming that the association of the two terms "fluid-solid" can be confusing, the first part of this thesis concerns with the definition of "fluidity" and the identification of its origins in the history of architecture. The second part focuses on the "fluidic" analysis through twenty contemporary projects. This analysis, which is based on the architectural dissertation of designers, determines the degree of fluidity in contemporary architectural production and establishes new connections between different projects.This thesis focuses on both theoretical concepts (by analogy to fluid mechanics) and developing a method to represent the conceptual process of the project (the fluidic analysis)

Faire l'histoire politique du concept de défense européenne, c'est retracer l'histoire du discours politique et politologique produit sur la défense européenne, c'est interroger l'identité de la construction sociale à laquelle ce discours a donné lieu. Nous aborderons le rapport entre la question de la défense et la question du politique en nous demandant si la réduction du discours sur la "défense européenne" à ses aspects essentiellement militaires (techniques, fonctionnels) ne conduit pas à nier ou à éviter la question du politique. Evitement que l'on tentera de découvrir, notamment, depuis les rhétoriques politiques et scientifiques – à partir des problématiques et des outils d'analyse que la science politique mobilise lorsqu'elle se saisit de cet objet. Nous verrons que le schéma binaire reliant mécaniquement le militaire au politique ne suffit pas. Il faudra lui ajouter, pour pouvoir saisir ce qui fonde structurellement le concept de défense européenne, la question de l'altérité
To make the political history of the concept of European defence, it is to redraw the history of the political and politics speech produced on the European defence, it is to interrogate the identity of the social construction to which this speech gave place. We shall approach the relationship between the question of the defence and the question of politics by asking us if the reduction of the speech on the "European defence" in its essentially military aspects (technical, functional) does not lead to deny or to avoid the question of politics. We shall try to discover that, notably, since the political and scientific rhetoric – from problems and tools of analysis which the political science mobilizes when it seizes this object. We shall see that the binary plan connecting mechanically the military question in politics is not enough. It will be necessary to add to it, to be able to seize what structurally the concept of European defence, the question of the otherness

Cette thèse décrit la circulation du concept d’ion au XIXe siècle. Symbole de revendications unificatrices de la science, il est l’enjeu d’appropriations et de transformations variées. La première partie expose la diversité des approches du problème que pose le phénomène d’électrolyse entre 1800 et 1830. Malgré de profondes divergences théoriques et philosophiques, une culture commune de l’électrochimie s’impose en Europe. La seconde partie traite de la formulation et de l’accueil du concept d’ion dans ce paysage à la fois stable et éclaté. Entre 1834 et la fin des années 1870, les principes ioniques sont inventés, acceptés, rejetés ou transformés par des savants issus de traditions savantes différentes. Le concept d’ion se propage et se transforme particulièrement en territoire savant germanique. La troisième partie décrit la forte augmentation de l’intérêt savant pour l’électrolyse et les ions entre 1880 et les années 1910. La confrontation des idées sur la matière et l’électricité ainsi que des méthodes expérimentales provoquent d’importantes modifications du concept d’ion. Il est désormais l’enjeu de problèmes nouveaux, autres qu’électrochimiques. Une méthodologie originale est proposée dans cette thèse : elle vise à imbriquer les processus épistémiques et sociaux qui régissent l’histoire du concept d’ion. L’objectif est d’en offrir une description complète rompant avec l’historiographie disciplinaire
This dissertation describes the circulation of the concept of ion throughout the 19th century. As a symbol of the claims for the unity of science, it was subject to a diversity of appropriations and transformations. The first part exposes the many approaches of the problem raised by the phenomenon of electrolysis between 1800 and 1830. Despite deep theoretical and philosophical differences, a common culture of electrochemistry emerged in Europe. The second part deals with the coining and reception of the concept of ion in this both stable and heteroclite context. From 1834 to the end of the 1870’s, ionic theories were invented, accepted, rejected or transformed by men who were influenced by different scientific traditions. German scientists particularly spread and transformed the concept of ion. The third part describes the spectacular rise of interest the concept of ion and electrolysis benefited between 1880 and the 1910’s. Ideas on matter and electricity and experimental methods collided. It was the cause of important transformations of the concept of ion. The aim of this dissertation is to maintain embedded the epistemic and social aspects that affected the history of the concept of ion

Au 1° chapitre, les principales notions de cet écrit (don, dette, obligation, échange) sont étudiées en lien avec l’engagement socialiste et mutualiste de Mauss et sa vision du bolchevisme. Le 2° chap. traite du don dans les œuvres de C. Lévi-Strauss, Claude Lefort, Derrida et dans l’ethnologie de la Kabylie (René Maunier, Bourdieu). Le 3° chap. définit le don en lien avec l’obligation, et le différencie d’autres transferts de biens : impôt, amende, réparation, redistribution, commerce, marché, par la discussion d’œuvres de Hobbes, Wittgenstein, David Lewis, J. R. Searle, Robert Lowie, K. Polanyi, M. Godelier, Alain Testart. Potlatch et Kula sont étudiés pour voir les liens entre techniques, milieux écologiques, production, droit coutumier, hiérarchie politique et circulation des biens. Le 4° chap. traite des dons et tributs dans l’histoire médiévale (discussion des œuvres de M. Bloch, G. Duby, Max Weber, N. Elias) : largesse, don aux pauvres, aumône. In the 1st chapter, the main notions of this writing (gift, debt, obligation, exchange) are studied in relation to Mauss’ commitment to socialism and mutualism, and to his vision of Bolchevism. The 2nd chapter looks at the gift in the works of C. Lévi-Strauss, Claude Lefort, Derrida, and in Kabylia’s ethnology (René Maunier, Bourdieu). The 3rd chapter defines the gift with respect to obligation, and differentiates it from other kinds of transfers of goods, such as taxes, fines, compensation, redistribution, and commerce, by looking at the works of Hobbes, Wittgenstein, David Lewis, J. R. Searle, Robert Lowie, K. Polanyi, M. Godelier, Alain Testart. La biodiversité mondiale est victime d'une crise d'extinction majeure qui s'accompagne indéniablement d'une crise morale pour l'humanité. Nous avons ainsi été menés à comprendre dans quelle mesure la disparition des espèces constituait un objet légitime de souci éthique et quels arguments philosophiques étaient avancés pour justifier la protection des espèces. Il nous a aussi fallu saisir les causes historiques de cette tardive prise de conscience écologique de l'humanité, qui, jusque là, avait provoqué l'extinction de centaines d'espèces sans s'en soucier. Nous avons donc retracé à l'échelle de l'histoire humaine la lente élaboration intellectuelle de l'idée d'extinction ainsi que la formalisation scientifique de ce concept. Enfin, nous avons tenté de cerner la notion d'extinction, grâce à l'idée de mort individuelle, par une démarche phénoménologique et épistémologique comparée, ce qui nous a conduit à formuler une solution originale aux problématiques de conservation de la nature
Global biodiversity is presently falling victim to a major extinction crisis, which also implicates a moral crisis for the human species. In this work, we attempt to understand the extent to what the extinction of species is a legitimate subject of moral concern and we consider which philosophical arguments are formulated to justify the protection of species. We also investigate the historical causes behind this delayed awareness of the ecological significance of extinction. Both the slow intellectual development of the idea of extinction thoughout human history and the scientific emergence of the concept are explained. Finally, we investigate the notion of extinction through the idea of individual death. We employ a comparative phenomenological and epistemological approach towards death and extinction, which leads us to expound an original solution to the isuue of nature conservation

AbstractThe aim of this chapter is to develop a theory of how filmic figurations are already fused with conceptions of history during the mise-en-scène process, and thereby enable historical experiences. The first section will therefore examine the theoretical concept of figuration and the special relation between cinematic illusion and historical reference. The second section analyzes the strategies used by historical films to create filmic spaces and model an internally consistent, temporally arranged historical world. Building on this, the third section proposes that, for historical films, the film theory concept of mise-en-scène should be supplemented by a concept of mise-en-histoire: the imaginative referentialization of the historical worlds constructed by a film.

La sociedad se reorganizó a partir de la revolución tecnológica. El capitalismo ha sido reestructurado debido a la globalización de las actividades económicas. Los conceptos de tiempo y espacio han sido transformados. Las redes sociales, aliadas al fácil acceso a internet y a las novedades de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación han estado facilitando no solamente la generación del conocimiento, como también la divulgación de productos, marcas y la facilidad con la que encontramos los mismos. Una nueva etapa de la historia, ahora más acelerada por la convergencia de momentos, se presenta a partir de la evolución tecnológica. Utilizando Indaiatuba, ciudad del interior de Brasil, como estudio de caso, el objetivo de este artículo es enseñar algunas de las formas de narrar la historia de la ciudad utilizando las nuevas tecnologías, estimulando así la inteligencia colectiva en la sociedad y el compartir de la historia, contribuyendo consecuentemente para la preservación del patrimonio histórico-cultural a través de la mediatización de los mismos. Society has been reorganized due to technological revolution. Capitalism has been restructured because of the globalization of economic activities. The concepts of time and space were transformed. Social networks, coupled with easy access to Internet and new technologies of communication and information have not only facilitated the generation of knowledge but the dissemination of products and brands and their interaction capability as well. A new stage of history, now accelerated by the convergence of moments, is presented from the technological evolution. Using Indaiatuba city in the interior of Brazil, as a case study, the aim of this article is to expose some ways to tell the story of the city using new technologies in order to stimulate society collective intelligence and its capability of sharing their history. This will lead to the preservation of historic and cultural heritage through the mediatization of Indaiatuba richly history.

Learning progression is a continuum that measures advances in learning by tracking development from early learning to more sophisticated levels of mastery. Mathematics relies on an understanding of empirical knowledge and concepts in a hierarchical sequence; students need to understand (or master) one mathematical concept before they can proceed to the next. In comparison, progress of understanding in history is not necessarily hierarchical because it is based on mastery of concepts and skills rather than historical knowledge, which is geographically and temporally variable. With history, it is not necessary to progress sequentially from one concept in order to comprehend another; learning is measured by mastery of levels of complexity within each skill or understanding and mastery can be concurrent and interrelated. The essential characteristic of progression in history is that students can demonstrate an increase in their cognitive ability to think analytically and critically.

The thermal history of hot surfaces is of great practical importance, but very hard to measure. Thermal indicating paints offer one possible and practical way, but they have many disadvantages. A novel concept for the utilisation of phosphorescent coatings as thermal history sensors has been proposed by Feist et al. [1] in 2007. These phosphor coatings undergo irreversible changes when exposed to high temperatures that affect their light emission properties. A subsequent off-line analysis of the emission at room temperature can reveal the temperature history of the coating. In this paper, an investigation of the amorphous-to-crystalline change of Y2SiO5: Tb is reported and used to provide a proof of concept for a phosphorescent thermal history sensor. The phosphor powder was calcined at different temperatures, and characterised using photoluminescence spectroscopy. A calibration curve was generated from the measurements and is presented and discussed.

This paper traces the evolution of the concept of portfolio from the Renaissance to the present day. Over time the meaning of portfolio evolved from its origins as a case for holding loose papers to other contexts such as finance, government and education. Portfolios evolved from paper to electronic, from local network to the world wide web. The decade from 2000-2010 was a period when technology became part of mainstream society and educational technology become part of mainstream higher education, and portfolios became a ubiquitous assessment. From 2010-2020, a shift towards an emphasis on pedagogy and the student learning experience occurred in eportfolio research and practice. The history of (e)portfolio in higher education shows that the higher education system will continue to gradually evolve, incorporating concepts, technology and approaches that are compatible rather than transformative.

The article examines the main features, general characteristics and essence of the concept of solutions journalism. The basic principles of functioning of this model of journalism in the western press and in Ukraine are given. The list and features of activity of the organizations, institutes and editorial offices supporting development of journalism of solutions journalism. The purpose of the publication is to describe the Solutions Journalism model: its features, characteristics and features of functioning, to find out the difference in the understanding of the concept of «solutions journalism» and «constructive journalism» in general. The task of the publication was to conceptualize the main trends in the development of solutions journalism in the Western and Ukrainian information space; show the main characteristics, formats of functioning and analyze the features of the concepts of «solutions journalism» and «constructive journalism». Applied research methods: at the stage of research of the history of formation of the concept of Solutions Journalism the historical method is used. The hermeneutic method of research helped in the interpretation of basic concepts, the phenomenological approach was applied in the context of considering the essence of the phenomenon of solutions journalism. At the stage of generalization of the features of the concepts of Solutions Journalism and «constructive journalism» a comparative method was used, which gave an understanding of the common components in their essence. The method of analysis allowed to expand the understanding of the purpose of Solutions Journalism as a type of social journalism and its main tasks. With the help of synthesis it was possible to comprehensively understand the concept of Solutions Journalism and understand its features. In Ukraine, this type of journalism is just emerging, but its introduction into the editorial policy of the media may have a national importance. These are regional and local media that can inform their communities about the positive solution of certain problems in other communities, and thus thanks to this model can save local journalism. In the scientific context, there is a need to outline the main differences in the understanding of the concepts of decision journalism and constructive journalism, to understand the socio-psychological need to create good news.

The book consists of fifteen interviews with young so-called cultural ambassadors of the Borderland Association, as well as essays on the history of the Danish-German borderland and the concept of a hyphenated identity that the young respondents refer to. In minority research, the concept of a hyphenated identity is both used and contested. However, the interviews underline that the concept can serve as an important backdrop for the empowerment of young people with minority identities. Historic building restoration and renovation requires sensitivity to the cultural heritage, historic value, and sustainability (i.e., building physics, energy efficiency, and comfort) goals of the project. Heat recovery ventilation can contribute to the mentioned goals if ventilation concepts, and airflow distribution is planned and realized in a minimally invasive way. Compared to new buildings, the building physics of historic buildings are more complicated in terms of hygrothermal performance. In particular if internal insulation is applied, the need for dehumidification is needed for robust and risk-free future use, while maintaining the building’s cultural value. As each ventilation system has to be chosen and adapted individually to the specific building, the selection of the appropriate system type is not an easy task.
