Este trabalho estuda medidas de desempenho aproximadas em centrais de atendimento, apresentadas pelo modelo M/G/s/r+G. As aproximações são calculadas a partir do modelo M/M/s/r+M(n). Os resultados foram extendidos para o caso de mais de um tipo de cliente, apresentado pelo modelo M/Mi/s/r+Mi(n). Para dois casos particulares com 2 tipos de clientes, as aproximações citadas foram avaliadas numericamente e comparadas com os resultados de referência obtidos através de simulação. Os resultados aproximados comprovam que a aproximação é bastante satisfatória.
We study approximations for performance measures of call centers, represented by M/G/s/r+G queueing model. We use the measures computed in the M/M/s/r+M(n) queueing model. The results were extended for more then one type of customer, represented by M/Mi/s/r+Mi(n) queueing model. For two particular cases with two types of customers, the mentioned approaches were numerically evaluated and compared with the results of reference obtained by simulation. The approximate results show that the approach is quite satisfactory.

Let po(n) be the distribution of the number N(oo) in the system at ergodicity for systems with an infinite number of servers, batch arrivals with general batch size distribution and general holding times. This distribution is of impotance to a variety of studies in congestion theory, inventory theory and storage systems. To obtain this distribution, a more general problem is addressed . In this problem, each epoch of a Poisson process gives rise to an independent stochastic function on the lattice of integers, which may be viewed as a stochastic impulse response. A continuum analogue to the lattice process is also provided.

O modelo de fila M/M/n+G pode ser usado para descrever o comportamento de uma Central de Atendimento. Nesse modelo as chegadas são Poisson com taxa lambda, o atendimento é exponencialmente distribuído com taxa mi, há n atendentes e os tempos de paciência dos clientes têm distribuição geral. A espera do usuário em fila não pode ultrapassar um tempo (paciência) que tem distribuição G e, se isto ocorrer, ele abandona o sistema. Mandelbaum e Zeltyn [2004] mostraram que existe uma relação linear entre o tempo médio de permanência na fila e a probabilidade de abandono nesses modelos quando a paciência é exponencialmente distribuída. No presente trabalho, estudamos essa relação no caso de distribuiçãao de paciência do tipo mista (com partes discreta e contínua), em que buscamos representar a reação dos usuários às mensagens gravadas reproduzidas periodicamente para aqueles que estão esperando atendimento. Utilizamos duas distribuições de paciência: Exponencial Mista e Uniforme Mista e percebemos que não há uma relação linear entre o tempo médio de espera na fila e a probabilidade de abandono. Observamos que para uma mesma taxa de chegada, o tempo médio de espera na fila é menor para a distribuição de paciência mista quando comparada com a Exponencial ou Uniforme de mesmos parâmetros. Analisamos o que ocorre com essa relação quando alteramos a distribuição do atendimento e percebemos que ela é mais afetada pela média e pelo coeficiente de variação do que pela particular distribuição escolhida para o tempo de serviço.
The M/M/n+G queueing model can be used to describe the behavior of a Call Center. This model has Poisson arrivals with rate lambda, service times are exponentially distributed with rate mi, n agents and the client´s patience time has general distribution. The waiting in line could not exceed a time (patience) which has distribution G, and if it occurs, the client leaves the system. In this models, Mandelbaum and Zeltyn [2004] showed that there is a linear relationship between average waiting time in queue and the probability of abandonment if the distribution of patience is Exponencial. In this work, we study this relationship in the case of patience with mixed distribution (which has discret and continuous parts). Through mixed distributions we try to represent the user´s reaction to recorded messages reproduced periodically when they are waiting for service. We have used Mixed Exponencial and Mixed Uniform distributions and, in both of them, there is not a linear relationship between average waiting time in queue and the probability of abandonment. We observe that for the same arrival rate, the average waiting time in line for mixed distribution is smaller than Exponencial or Uniform distributions with the same parameters. Also, we study the effect on waiting time and abandonment of different distributions of service and we observe that it is more affected by the coeficient of variation and average that by the particular distribution chosen for service.

The main aim of this work is to develop alternative queuing models to M/ G/l, in which arrivals follow a Poisson process, the total number of customers on the system and the total number of service channels are unknown. Our interest is just to observe the service channel that will offer the maximum or minimum service time. Wherefore, the service distributions are obtained from the composition of the Conwav-Maxwell-Poisson distribution truncated at zero, used to model the number of service channels, with the general distribution to the maximum and minimum service time. Thus, we obtain new distributions for service time, which are called Maximum-Conwav-Maxwell-Poisson-general, denoted by MAXCOMPG distribution, and Minimum-Conwav-Maxwell-Poisson-general, denoted by MINCOMPG distribution, consequently, we obtain the queue models M/MAXCOMPG/1 and M/MINCOMPG/ 1, respectively. As general distributions, we use the distributions exponential, Weibull and Birnbaum Saunders, To illustrate the proposed queue models, a simulation study is done and also real data are used.
Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar modelos de filas alternativos ao M/G/l, nos quais as chegadas seguem um processo de Poisson, o número total de usuários no sistema e o número total de canais de atendimento são desconhecidos. Neste caso, observamos apenas o canal de serviço que irá oferecer o máximo ou o mínimo tempo de serviço. Para isto, as distribuições de serviço são obtidas a partir da composição da distribuição Conwav-Maxwell-Poisson truncada no ponto zero, usada para modelar o número de canais de atendimento, com uma distribuição geral para o máximo e o mínimo tempos de serviço. Desta forma, surgem novas distribuições de serviço que são denominadas de Máximo-Conwav-Maxwell-Poisson-geral, denotada por distribuição MAXCOMPG, e Mínimo-Conwav-Maxwell-Poisson-geral, denotada por distribuição MINCOMPG, e, assim, obtemos os modelos de fila M MAXCOMPG 1 e M MINCOMPG 1. Como distribuições gerais usamos as distribuições exponencial, Weibull e Birnbaum Saunders, Para ilustrar os modelos de fila propostos um amplo estudo de simulação é feito e dados reais também são utilizados.

For a network of G/oo service facilities, the transient joint distribution of the facility populations is found to have a simple Poisson product form with simple explicit formula for the means. In the network it is assumed that: a) each facility has an infinite number of servers; b) the service time distributions are general; c) external traffic is non-homogenous in time; d) arrivals have random or deterministic routes through the network possibly returning to the same facility more than once; e) arrivals use the facilities on their route sequentially or in parallel (as in the case of a circuit switched telecommunication network). The results have relevance to communication networks and manufacturing systems.

Les etrangeres lecleziennes, loin d'etre un support a une ecriture exotique, sont en verite fondatrices de ce changement dans l'ecriture impose depuis 1980. Tour a tour marginale, contrebandiere de la memoire et representante de populations declassees et humiliees l'etrangere participe a ce qu'il est desormais convenu de nommer << mise en texte d'une difference >>, susceptible de lui donner autre chose qu'une silhouette exotique et d'insuffler aux recits lecleziens un air d'extraneite qui vaut d'originalite. Etre etranger n'est plus une question d'origine, mais d'attitude et celle-ci ne necessite pas toujours un deplacement spatial. Il n'est, en effet, plus possible de cerner le personnage del'etranger par rapport a une tradition qui exige que l'autre soit clairement defini par ses insignes, pour etre reconnu ou exclu mais toujours distingue. Quelles relations, J. M. G. Le Clézio, engage dans une quête spirituelle, entretient-il avec le genre romanesque? Le roman est en question dans son œuvre sur plusieurs plans. Il rejette la linéarité du temps et le déterminisme social, psychologique, attribues au roman du XIXe siècle, dans une sorte de violence identificatoire. Pour rompre avec l'occident, il préconise un renoncement aux valeurs établies qui passe par l'ascèse. L'écriture se redéfinit comme recherche d'un langage affectif et de rythmes, proche de la poésie, rejoignant le silence. Dans ses romans, il utilise personnage, temps et récit mais en les déformant. Le personnage, indéterminé, se rattache au mythe et permet d'établir un pacte narratif ou se confondent protagoniste, auteur et lecteur dans une communauté des faiblesses et aspirations. Le temps perd sa linéarité causale pour se présenter dans la diversité d'expériences liées aux genres : conte, mythe, prophétie. Le récit refuse la mise en intrigue, se fracture sans cesse, surtout dans les premiers romans, et instaure une circularité, symbole de transcendance. Virtualité, évanescence et ambiguïté deviennent signes de l'être et fondent l'esthétique. Le roman parait contraire à l'exigence de vérité que suppose la quête. Cependant, par sa valeur d'image, il s'avère forme privilégiée pour éviter la clôture du sens, faire surgir l'ineffable, assurer la communication avec le lecteur. La réception des premières œuvres est problématique en raison d'une incessante redéfinition du code de lecture ; les derniers romans, plus cohérents, encourent un autre risque : celui de dissimuler la quête sous la dominante de la fiction. What are, in le Clezio's work, the interrelations between his quest to achieve essentiality and fictional form? The novel is put into question, in many ways. He refuses language as an instrument of domination, rejects linear time and both social and psychological determinism, regarded as characteristic of nineteenth-century novel. He wants to give up the inherited and established values of the west by renouncing the world as well as literature. The act of writing is defined as a search for an affective, rhythmic language, close to poetry, tending towards silence. In his novels, he uses characters, time and narrative but distorts them. The character, in his indeterminacy, is linked to myth and allows hero, writer and reader to meet and merge in a community of failures and aspirations. Time loses its causality to give rise to a diversity of experiences connected with literary genres: fairy tale, myth, prophecy. . . The narrative which rejects plot, is continually fragmented, especially in the first works. Beyond the breaking of the story, circularity appears as a symbol of transcendence. Virtuality, ambiguity and evanescence emerge as signs of being and the basis of aesthetics. The novel seems primarily opposed to the inescapable need to find truth. Nevertheless, with its value as an image, it emerges as a privileged form to keep meaning open, to give rise to the ineffable and ensure communication with the reader. The work presented in this thesis is a contribution to Majorana theory as introduced by A. A. Ivanov in [Iva09]. Inspired by a theorem of S. Sakuma [Sak07], Majorana theory is an axiomatisation of seven properties of the Monster algebra VM, invariant under the Monster group M, and of some of its idempotents. For a finite group G generated by a G-invariant set T of involutions one can define what it means for G to have a Majorana representation with respect to T. It yields a G-invariant Majorana algebra X generated by a set A of idempotents called Majorana axes. To each axis a in A an automorphism Tau(a) of X called Majorana involution is associated, so that X, A and Tau(A) satisfy the Majorana axioms. In this thesis we give a review of the Majorana algebras already obtained and we motivate the following objective: the classification of all Majorana algebras V generated by three Majorana axes a_1, a_2 and a_3 such that V also contains a Majorana axis a_1,2 with associated automorphism Tau(a_1,2) := Tau(a_1) Tau(a_2). This objective requires the classification of all subgroups G :=< Tau(a_{i}) | i in [1;3]> of GL(V ), which are necessarily quotients of the Coxeter groups G^(m,n,p) := such that m, n, p belong to [1; 6] and the set of conjugates of x, y, xy and z is 6-transposition. We prove that all such groups are quotients of only eleven finite groups. Comparing with S. P. Norton's list of `triangle-point' configurations of 2A involutions in M [Nor85], we observe that nine of them 2A-embed in M. The next step is to answer which of those eleven groups can be generated by Majorana involutions. Using partial results already known, we manage to answer this question completely for one of the eleven groups isomorphic to L2(11). For the remaining ten groups we give technical restrictions on the structure of their possible Majorana algebras, thus laying the foundations for further progress.

Cette thèse engage une réflexion sur le mythe personnel de J. M. G. Le Clézio qui se construit à partir des rapports qu'entretiennent l'autobiographie de l'auteur avec la généalogie de l'Autre. Notre objectif est de mettre en évidence les façons dont se présentent les figures de l'Autre dans l'œuvre, ainsi que dans les relations complexes et constituvent de l'écrivain avec ses ancêtres. Pour ce faire, nous avons interrogé la quête qu'effectuent les personnages à la recherche d'une nouvelle forme de sacré, mettant en cause leur identité et transformant leur personnalité. La rencontre avec l'Autre devient aussi une aventure fondatrice pour l'écrivain qui revient à ses origines réelles et imaginaires afin d'échapper à un modèle européen qu'il conteste. Dans ce mouvement de projection sur l'Autre non occidental, nous étudions la relation conflictuelle qu'entretiennent l'écrivain et ses personnages avec leur milieu d'origine et examiné comment s'opposent deux modes de vies incompatibles. Nous arrivons ainsi à ce qui soutient comme un clé de voûte l'argumentation du texte leclézien : l'opposition entre le primitivisme et la modernité occidentale. Cette distinction entre sacré et profane, qui marque la thématique de l'œuvre et la divise en deux périodes, trouve un écho dans le rapport du sujet avec l'Autre féminin. Notre propos sur ce point s'organise autour du thème du passaga alchimique de l'autre côté, qui s'opère à travers la figure féminine. L'analyse des représentations de la femme dans l'ensemble de l'œuvre de Le Clézio nous permettra de mettre en évidence l'importance accrue de la figure féminine dans l'apaisement qui marque l'écriture des œuvres de la deuxième période
This thesis engage the reflection on the personal myth of JMG Le Clézio, built on the relations between the autobiography of the author and the genealogy of the Other. Our goal is to highlight how vome the figures of the Other in the novel, and the complx relationships of the writer with his ancestors. To do this, wa engaged a research on the search done by the characters in order to find a new form of religiosity, questioning their identity and transforming their personalities. In this movement of projection on the Other non-Western, we study the conflict between writer and his characters with their original environment. This is a cornestone argument in Le Clézio's novel : the opposition between primitive and Western modernity. This distinction between sacred and profane, wich marks the theme of the work and divided it into two perdiods, is echoed in the report of the subject with the other femal. Our remarks on this point revolves around the theme of the passage on the other side, which takes place through the indigenous femal figure. The analysis of representations of women throughout the work of Le Clézio, will highlight the increasing importance of the female figure in the healing that marks the writing of the novels of the second period

The latter becomes" his real body" which exteriorizes the emotion and the contradictory and imperfect nature of the writer. But he asserts himself as a writer only in assimilating all possible forms and new tendencies in order to go beyond and oppose them. The originality of aesthetic thought of le clezio is expressed in his use of paradox, contradiction and comparison to find the meaning of contemporary litterature

Eblouie par l'être, en quête de l'identité anthropologique hors du réductionnisme occidental, l'écriture de le clezic est une magie expérimentant les grandes aventures humaines depuis l'origine: primitive, indienne, islamique, judéo-chrétienne. L'homme apparait tridimensionnel: en relation avec l'autre, sujet ontologique; avec la communauté, sujet politique; avec l'autre, sujet éthique. La relation triple une triple temporalité: un "présent" oriente la "métamorphose incessante" du vivant vers "l'éternité". Parallèlement s'expérimente l'écriture qui est acte et lieu de l'être. Les gestes opèrent une magie: inscrire incarne la chose, tisser relie mots et choses et celles-ci ensemble font surgir le corps du monde. Mimer les forces cosmiques, les choses, parvient par identification - "extase matérielle" - a une nouvelle connaissance qui est métamorphose de leur réalité brute en leur essence d'être: l'écriture est salvatrice. Se joint une parole incantatoire qui transmute les choses en une pure présence. . . Un silence. Dazzled by the essence of being, in search of man's identity beyond the reducing rationalism of western culture, Le Clézios's writing is a magic which experiments man's odysseys from the origins: primitive, Indian, Islamic and Judeo-Christian human adventures. Man appears as tridimensional: an ontological subject related to the other, a political subject to the community and a moral subject to the others. The relation weaves a triangular temporality: a "present" directs the "perpetual metamorphosis" of the living towards "eternity". At the same time is experimented a writing in which the essence of being is found acting. Gestures work a magic where tracing embodies the object and weaving links words and things; they, all together, give life to the body of the world. Miming cosmic forces, things - by means y identification, "material extasis" - lead to a new knowledge which metamorphoses their raw existence into the essence of being: writing is salvation. Then comes an incantatory speech which transmutes things into a real pre- sence. . . Silence. Two languages are used conjointly, a sea of words and a highly-rising speech, essentia and ousia. Writing attempts to break into the chamber of the sacred, the one. That is why it is "oblique", indirect, and "parbolic", mythic, guardian of the secret. Recently, in le chercheur d'or, Le Clézio's writing acknowledges the rupture between words and things, it becomes separated and allied, and symbols slip in among bare and simple words. Cette thèse propose d'étudier la problématique de l'évolution des rapports entre le Moi et le monde dans l'œuvre de Le Clézio, en montrant l'investissement autobiographique dont ils sont l'objet. En effet, l'écriture est, pour l'auteur, plus qu'une tentative de représentation du monde : elle est un instrument d'intégration au monde vivant, au temps, une façon de combattre l'idée de la mort. Nous avons considéré que l'œuvre suit les trois étapes du cérémonial de guérison mentionné dans Hai͏̈ (1971) : Tahu Sa, l'initiation, Beka, la fête chantée et Kakwahai͏̈, l'exorcisme, et qu'elle répond au but recherché par cette science magique, l'harmonie du Moi avec le monde. De 1963 à 1973, Le Clézio s'emploie à décrire un mal, une impossibilité de la reconnaissance de l'individu dans le monde moderne. Depuis 1973, après avoir séjourné chez les indiens Embreras, il trouve les conditions d'un renversement de ce mal, conduisant à une féminisation de l'écriture désormais confrontée à la matière. L'écriture peut alors se retourner sur son parcours comme sur celui de l'homme qui l'a pratiquée et, ce faisant, inscrire l'être dans un temps mythique (selon l'acception indienne), un cycle qui défie le temps linéaire et qui permet de retrouver un sentiment d'enfance ressenti en 1948, en Afrique, perdu et recherché depuis. Ce sentiment devient alors un pays : celui de la langue.

Nous proposons une approche ascendante pour la conception des ateliers de genie educatif. Avant tout developpement d'outils, nous pensons qu'il faut considerer le niveau d'integration requis par ce genre d'atelier, et c'est pourquoi nous proposons mage, un meta-atelier de genie educatif. Mage favorise la cooperation entre pedagogues et informaticiens car ce meta-atelier propose: un cadre methodologique regissant les interactions entre acteurs au cours du processus de developpement des logiciels educatifs. Nous avons ainsi decrit formellement la tache de chacun des acteurs durant les etapes de specification, de conception et de realisation d'un logiciel educatif; des services bases sur un langage formel de description des logiciels educatifs. Ces services permettent aux pedagogues et aux informaticiens d'echanger des donnees relatives aux caracteristiques du logiciel educatif developpe. Ce meta-atelier de genie educatif est construit a partir de la plate-forme pcte (portable common tool environment). C'est un composant important de l'environnement pete (portable educational tool environment) qui est au centre des travaux du programme delta (developing european learning through technological advance)

Ce travail a pour objet d'étudier l'oeuvre de Jean-Marie Le Clézio, en utilisant et en comparant les méthodes de la linguistique quantitative et les logiciels qui mettent en oeuvre les analyses lexicométriques. La structure du vocabulaire sera caractérisée par l'étude des fréquences. De la recherche et la diversité du vocabulaire ainsi que de l'accroissement lexical. L'étude du rythme repose sur l'analyse de la longueur des mots. Des phrases et des segments intérieurs. Les parties du discours et la syntaxe seront étudiées à travers une analyse "grammatico-métrique" qu'a rendu possible la lemmatisation du corpus. L'analyse du contenu s'intéresse à la distance lexicale ainsi qu'à l'étude des spécificités lexicales. Le recensement des isotopies récurrentes ouvre la voie à une étude thématique. Avec les mêmes techniques on tente également une analyse de l'intertectualité et une étude comparative avec d'autres auteurs.

Le Clézio se distingue des tendances multiples de la création romanesque d'aujourd'hui : rebelle à la définition, elle ne se rattache à aucun mouvement, n'épouse aucun courant formel. Ce constat érige l'idée de marginalité en un concept descriptif, lequel permet, par l'analyse des constituants fondamentaux du récit, la mise à jour d'un monde fictionnel ou les lisières, les bords extrêmes, les franges de toute nature, assument l'essentielle signification. Tel est le ressort symbolique des marges que face aux excès dénoncés de la modernité, l'exil se mue pour le sujet en quête primordiale d'un rapport à l'univers plus authentique. Le procès narratif participe étroitement de cette valorisation des marges. L'éclatement des structures, le recours motivé à des procédés atypiques, établissent la marge en instance créatrice générant un inter discours, un dire d'entre les mots, d'entre les lignes, d'entre les types textuels. Ainsi s'éclaire l'originalité d'une oeuvre singulière, à la fois proche du mythe et de la prophétie, de l'histoire et de l'ethnographie, du poème et de la fable éthique. J. M. G. Le Clézio 's works distinguish themselves from the multiple tendencies in the novelistic creation of today: as a rebel to definitions, they are part of no movement nor do they espouse any formal current. This observation establishes the idea of marginality as a descriptive concept which permits, through analysis of the fundamental constituents of the narrative, the appearance of a fictional world where the extreme edges, where all nature of fringe elements assume the essential meaning. Such is the symbolic scope of the margins that, faced with the denounced excesses of modernity, exile is transformed into the subject in the primordial search for a more authentic relationship to the universe. The narrative process is implicated in this valorisation of the margins. The breaking up of structures and the motivated recourse to atypical processes establish the margin as a creative force generating an inter-discourse, an insinuation from between the words, from between the lines, from between the textual categories. Thus the originality of a remarkable literary work, close to both myth and to prophecy, to both history and to ethnography, to the poem and to the ethical tale. These margins of genre are as so many "enormous virgin spaces to prospect" and which push back, book after book, the frontiers of the novel

Data from the 1998 run of the fixed target experiment NA48, located in the high intensity region of CERN's North Area, has been used to measure the branching ratio of KLμ+ μ- γ. In addition to this, form factor parameters for a vector meson dominance models proposed by Bergstrom et. al. (BMS), D'Ambrosio et. al (API) and that of Chiral Perturbation Theory (χPT) have been measured for this mode. A total of 1150 μμγ candidates was observed with an estimated background of 13.2±6.2 events. The branching ratio BR(KLμ+ μ- γ) was measured to be (4.00±0.12±0.7±0.7)x 10-7 where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic and the third error comes from the uncertainty in the knowledge of the branching ratio of normalization mode, KLπ+ π-. The BMS model form factor parameter, αK*, is measured to be -0.20±0.05. The χPT form factor parameters, αMK and α1.0 are measured to be 0.90±0.08 and 3.55±0.30 respectively. The measured value of the API model form factor parameter is αAPI = -1.71±0.16. From this one can calculate a lower bound of -0.39 (90% CL) on the Wolfenstein CKM matrix parameter ρ.

A avaliação de desempenho de um sistema de fila GI/G/m é um clássico problema difícil. Estes sistemas de filas com múltiplos servidores são notoriamente difíceis de serem analisados analiticamente, sendo que uma solução analítica exata somente é possível para casos especiais, tais como as filas M/M/m, M/D/m, M/K2 /m, GI/H2/m, GI/EK/m, GI/Ph/m, Ph/D/m e Ph/Ph/m. Os modelos de simulação por computadores, apesar de exigirem muitos recursos de hardware (memória de trabalho e de armazenagem de massa, velocidade de processamento da CPU) e de consumirem muito tempo na execução das rodadas da simulação, permitem considerações mais próximas das situações reais. Os modelos de simulação podem ser bastante úteis na checagem de suposições necessárias num modelo analítico e na checagem dos resultados do modelo analítico. Este trabalho trata da estimação de medidas de desempenho, em equilíbrio, de filas GI/G/m através de simulação. Também é tratada a verificação de aproximações de filas GI/G/m por filas Ph/Ph/m.
The performance evaluation of a GI/G/m queueing system is a classic hard problem. These multi-server queues are notoriously difficult to be evaluated analytically and, a analytic solutions is possible only for special cases, just as the queues M/M/m, M/D/m, M/K2 /m, GI/H2/m, GI/EK/m, GI/Ph/m, Ph/D/m e Ph/Ph/m. The computer simulation models, despite of requiring many hardware resources (work memory, storage memory, processing speed of the CPU) and consuming large amount of computer times in the execution of the simulation runs, allow the evaluation of more realistic models. The computer simulation models can be convenient enough to check the validity of assumptions needed in an analytic model and to check the results of the analytic model. This study deals with the estimation of steady-state (long-run) measures of performance for GI/G/m queueing systems through simulation models. It also checks the GI/G/m queues approximations by Ph/Ph/m queues.

Kind of Blue remains one of the most influential and successful jazz albums ever recorded, yet we know surprisingly few details concerning how it was written and the creative roles played by its participants. Previous studies in the literature emphasise modal and blues content within the album, overlooking the creative principle that underpins Kind of Blue – repetition and variation. Davis composed his album by Signifyin(g), transforming and recombining musical items of interest adopted from recent recordings of the period. This thesis employs an interdisciplinary framework that combines note-based observations with intertextual theory. It maps out the intertextual associations of each piece on Kind of Blue, illuminating Davis’s creative practice and more generally, Signifyin(g) in jazz. The study presents a more rounded account of the trumpeter, identifying Significations that possess a transformative power indicative of his idiosyncratic voice. This derives from the trumpeter’s skill in recognising the musical potential implicit in each borrowed item. Davis employed varied modes of revision in response to each insight, which nevertheless exhibit common traits – simplicity/neatness of approach, economical use of materials and revisional instinct. The study catches Davis in the act of revising musical tradition, as the trumpeter renegotiates African-American traditional forms using contemporary jazz devices. Some tracks exhibit “indirection” by saying one thing but meaning another. Thus, while the bluesy vamps of “All Blues” appear to affirm the blues tradition, a series of intertextual readings reveal a hidden dialogue concerning the mutability of style, as musical items traverse stylistic boundaries with ease courtesy of Davis’s Signifyin(g) voice.

La thematique erotique chez le clezio se manifeste principalement sous la forme anecdotique. La diversite problematique des facettes semantiques de l'evenement sexuel ou sensuel temoigne une representativite culturelle construite selon la vision de l'ecrivain, avec une evolution chronologique vers l'harmonie comme dominante. Sa frequence reguliere apparente l'evenement erotique a un rite tant humain que narratif, les sequences fonctionnant comme propositions narratives de rang variable. La macrostructure met ainsi en place un horizon d'attente excitant, et l'ensemble des determinations expressives jouant sur l'implicite, la connotation et le mimetisme syntaxique, qui fondent la plupart des segments erotiques, est a l'origine du possible ressentiment erotique a la lecture. L'erotisaion du texte repose donc sur une mise en texte particuliere du referent, ou le vecu de l'evenement est l'objet meme du discours. La litterarite de la representation est garantie par cette reflexivite et par la notion d'acte textuel au sens d'effet en general et de contre-marquage en particulier. Le meme marquage stytematique preside a la mise en texte de referents non erotiques, par quoi l'erotisation irradie au niveau de la litterarite singuliere : la notion d'erotisme s'elargit a la participation sensorielle au monde. La textualite descriptive participe de l'erotisation de la litterarite generique en vertu de ses structurations propres, ainsi que d'une tendance a la narrativisation qui opere une osmose entre les types de textes. Les stylemes erotisants trouvent enfin un echo au plan de la litterarite generale a travers les reprises intra- et intertextuelles. Les faits de recriture ressortissent a l'esthetique complexe de la caresse, de la vague, de la fusion et de l'intimite qui cree la valeur erotique du texte le clezien aussi bien que de la litterarite en general. L'erotisation ne tient pas tant au referent represente qu'aux modalites de la representation d'un referent quelconque.

In this thesis, we develop the explicit expression for pure incomplete busy period (PIBP) density function for M/G/1 queueing systems and for incomplete busy period (IBP) density function for M/G/1 queueing systems operating under (0,k) and (k ′, k) control policies. Under (0,k) control policy, the server goes on the vacation when the system becomes empty and re-opens for service immediately at the arrival of the kth customer. Under (k ′, k) control policy, the server starts serving only when the number of customers in the queue becomes k and remains busy as long as there are at least k ′ customers waiting for service. The explicit form of the incomplete busy period density and other measures of the system performance are not known.Our approach is to approximate general service time with Coxian 2-phase distribution and represent the queuing process as a lattice path by recording the state of the system at the point of transitions. Herein an arrival into the system is represented by a horizontal step and departure by a vertical step and shift from phase 1 to phase 2 by a diagonal step. Incomplete busy period can then be represented as lattice path starting from (k0, 0) to (m,n), m > n remaining below the barrier Y = X. Control policies imposes additional restrictions on the barrier. Next we use the lattice path combinatorics to count the feasible number of paths and corresponding probabilities.The above leads to the required density function that has simple probabilistic structure and can be computed using R. In this thesis, we also present the challenges in computing the density using R and illustrate the code and the results.

On a testé l'aptitude de molécules organiques variées à s'insérer dans les composés d'intercalation binaires graphite-alcalin. Le furanne est capable de ternariser pratiquement tous les G/M (M = K, Rb, Cs) donnant par exemple KFU 0,75C8 et KFU2,2Cn (n = 24, 36, 48, 72). On a fait une étude critique de ce processus de ternarisation : cinétique, stoechiométrie limite, changements de stade, cycles intercalation-vidage, mobilité de la molécule organique. Le processus n'est pas entièrement réversible, accompagné de réactions chimiques plus complexes que la simple solvatation de l'alcalin. Le rôle du transfert de charge entre l'alcalin, les plans graphitiques et la molécule organique est analysé
The possibility of ternarization of binary alkali metal-graphite intercalation compounds by numerous organic molecules was studied. Furan (Fu) will combine with practically all the M-GIC (M = K, Rb, Cs), thus yielding for instance, KFu0 ,75C8 or KFU2 ,2cn (n = 24, 36, 48, 72). Critical studies of the kinetics of ternarization, stoechiometries, stage of the ternary compounds and of the intercalation -desintercalation process were perfomed. This process is not fully reversible because of chemical reactions more complex than mere solvation of alkali metal. The role of charge transfer between the organic molecule and the other components is analysed

We construct an algorithm for getting a reduced expression for any element in a complex reflection group G(m, 1, r) by sorting the element, which is in the form of a sequence of complex numbers, to the identity. Thus, the algorithm provides us a set of reduced expressions, one for each element. We establish a one-one correspondence between the set of all reduced expressions for an element and a set of certain sorting sequences which turn the element to the identity. In particular, this provides us with a combinatorial method to check whether an expression is reduced. We also prove analogues of the exchange condition and the strong exchange condition for elements in a G(m, 1, r). A Bruhat order on the groups is also defined and investigated. We generalize the Geck-Pfeiffer reducibility theorem for finite Coxeter groups to the groups G(m, 1, r). Based on this, we prove that a character value of any element in an Ariki-Koike algebra (the Hecke algebra of a G(m, 1, r)) can be determined by the character values of some special elements in the algebra. These special elements correspond to the reduced expressions, which are constructed by the algorithm, for some special conjugacy class representatives of minimal length, one in each class. Quasi-parabolic subgroups are introduced for investigating representations of Ariki- Koike algebras. We use n x n arrays of non-negative integer sequences to characterize double cosets of quasi-parabolic subgroups. We define an analogue of permutation modules, for Ariki-Koike algebras, corresponding to certain subgroups indexed by multicompositions. These subgroups are naturally corresponding, not necessarily one-one, to quasi-parabolic subgroups. We prove that each of these modules is free and has a basis indexed by right cosets of the corresponding quasi-parabolic subgroup. We also construct Murphy type bases, Specht series for these modules, and establish a Young's rule in this case.

This dissertation deals with issues related to modeling inter-queue traffic in network of M/G/c/c state-dependent queues. We considered queues in series, merges, and splits. In order to evaluate the systems, we observed mainly the inter-departure time, but also regarded were the traditional performance measurements such as blocking probability, throughput, work-in-process, and sojourn time. Our results point to a good fit of the exponential distributions in modeling the inter-queue inter-departure time, in almost all cases tested.
Nesta dissertação, abordamos a questão da modelagem do tráfego entre filas em sistemas de filas M/G/c/c dependentes do estado, configuradas em redes. Topologias série, divisão (do inglês split) e junção (merge) foram consideradas. Para a avaliação dos sistemas observamos principalmente os tempos entre partidas, mas também as tradicionais medidas de desempenho, isto é, a probabilidade de bloqueio, a taxa efetiva de chegada (também conhecida como a taxa de atendimento, em inglês throughput), o número médio de usuários no sistema (ou o work-in-process) e o tempo médio no sistema. Os resultados indicam que o modelo com chegadas exponenciais é uma boa aproximação na modelagem do tráfego entre filas, em quase todos os casos simulados. Eles apontam, também, para uma surpreendente similaridade existente entre topologias diversas. Estes resultados são comprovados pelas simulações.

L'objectif de la thèse consiste à analyser les modes de signifiance du nom propre dans les œuvres de M.Mammeri, Y. Kateb et J-M-G Le Clézio. La première partie porte sur les lieux communs du propre. La tradition, l'école envisagée dans le contexte colonial et la civilisation techniciste peuvent constituer des sources d'aliénation du nom. Aussi se transforment-ils souvent en lieux de tensions idéologiques qui se traduisent dans le conflit entre les enfants et les pères, le colonisé et le colonisateur. Pour parer à ce défaut d'être, les écrivains vont opérer un retour au lieu. C'est l'objet de la deuxième partie qui est consacrée à la reconquête symbolique du propre. Les lieux vont jouer un rôle déterminant dans la vie des personnages et seront intimement liés à leur destin et à leur nom. La troisième partie, placée sous le signe de l'écriture,vise à penser le nom dans une option radicale en tant que moyen dans la quête de l'absolu

Pagrindiniai filosofai, kurie reikalingi šio darbo problemos išplėtojimui ir analizei, tai M. Heideggeris ir H. G. Gadameris. Kiti reikšmingi filosofai, tai A. Šliogeris, A. Sverdiolas, V. Rubavičius, B. Croce, De Witt H. Perkeris ir kt. Narpliojama meno kūrinio kaip specifinio daikto samprata, grožio ir skonio sąvokos, žaidimo, šventės ir simbolio sąsajos ir panašumai su meno kūriniu, psichinės distancijos ir meno antirealistiškumo sąvokos. Tai meno kūrinio galia – jis geba kalbėti dabarčiai ir būti suprastas dabar bei kalbėti ateičiai ir būti suprastas ateityje. Nepavaldus laikui, tačiau aktualus ir skatinantis norą išsiaiškinti paslėptus simbolius ir prasmes, įtraukiantis į savo naują tikrovę ir kviečiantis atrasti tiesą, kurią siekia parodyti kiekvienam. The name of the thesis is the “Relationship between the truth and the artwork in hermeneutical philosophy: M. Heidegger, H. G. Gadamer”. The main objective of the document is to analyze the relationship between the truth and the artwork in hermeneutic philosophy and the modes of spreading truth in the artwork. The following are the problems raised: How to recognize and perceive truth in the artwork? What kind of truth lies in the artwork and whether it corresponds to the classic conception of truth? The main philosophers needed for developing and analyzing the problem of the thesis are M. Heidegger and H. G. Gadamer. Other significant philosophers are A. Šliogeris, A. Sverdiolas, V. Rubavičius, B. Croce, De Witt H. Parker. The artwork is analyzed in the perspective of specific matter: the ideas of beauty and taste, the relation and similarities between the artwork and the game, celebration as well as symbol, the concept of mental dicstance and antirealism. The power of artwork lies in the ability of speaking at present and to be understood at present as well as speaking in the future and to be undertsood in the future. The artwork is not subject to time but is relevant and encouraging to reveal hidden symbols and points; it involves into its new reality and invites to discover the truth which is sought to be shown to everyone. In this work we present the results of a research that aims to study the chronicle gender produced in a class of native language. The texts were written by students of a high-school class, under the orientation of the teacher who conducted a didactic sequence in order to explore this gender. In our analysis we observed aspect such as the structure of the general structure of the texts, types of speech and linguistic sequences, some mechanisms of textualization and the characteristics of the gender. In order to attain that, we adopted the theoretical presuppositions of Textual Linguistics and of the Socio-discursive Interactionism, grounding the study of texts and gender in Bronckart (2003; 2006) and Koch (2002; 2004). As a background of the Chronicle Gender we used the studies of Coutinho (1987); Mois?s (2003); S? (2005); Bender; Laurito (1993); Melo (1994); C?ndido et al. (1992) among others. The corpus, made up of 15 texts, showed that the narrative is the most used linguistic sequence in the producing of the texts, the discursive world prevailing in the narrative and some instances of the world of exposing. As for the gender characteristics, the daily life was used in order to amuse the reader and make him to reflect upon the daily life. Humor, irony, social criticism and colloquial language were also observed in the texts produced by the students. Although some texts presented the characteristics of the gender, explored in the classroom, some were typically school narratives. That make us believe that a work with textual production under the approach of a text gender is viable, but it is not consolidated yet in many schools as the main object of the central teaching of the Portuguese language. This make us defend a better systematization of the teaching contents having as the main point the reading practice and text production in order to contribute for the growing of the students? discursive potentialities and, therefore, their effective participation in the language social practices
Nesta disserta??o, apresentamos os resultados de uma pesquisa cujo objetivo ? estudar o g?nero cr?nica produzido na aula de l?ngua materna. Os textos foram produzidos pelos alunos de uma turma de ensino m?dio, sob a orienta??o da professora, que conduziu uma seq??ncia did?tica para explorar esse g?nero. Na an?lise, observamos aspectos como a infra-estrutura geral dos textos tipos de discurso e de seq??ncias ling??sticas, alguns mecanismos de textualiza??o - e as caracter?sticas do g?nero. Para isso, adotamos os pressupostos te?ricos da Ling??stica de Texto e do Interacionismo sociodiscursivo, fundamentando os estudos de texto e de g?neros em Bronckart (2003; 2006) e Koch (2002; 2004). Para embasamento sobre o g?nero cr?nica, utilizamos os estudos de Coutinho (1987); Mois?s (2003); S? (2005); Bender; Laurito (1993); Melo (1994); C?ndido et al. (1992), entre outros. O corpus, constitu?do de quinze textos, revelou a narrativa como a seq??ncia ling??stica mais usada na planifica??o dos textos produzidos, o mundo discursivo predominante da narra??o, e algumas ocorr?ncias do mundo do expor. Em rela??o ?s caracter?sticas do g?nero, a tem?tica do cotidiano fez-se notar com a finalidade de divertir o leitor e lev?-lo a refletir sobre o cotidiano. Humor, ironia, cr?tica social e linguagem coloquial tamb?m foram caracter?sticas observadas nos textos dos alunos. Embora muitos textos tenham apresentado as caracter?sticas do g?nero, explorado em sala de aula, alguns apresentaram-se, ainda, como narrativas tipicamente escolares. Isso nos faz crer que o trabalho com produ??o textual, sob o enfoque de um g?nero de texto ? vi?vel, mas ainda n?o est? consolidado, em muitas escolas, como objeto de ensino central da disciplina l?ngua portuguesa, o que nos faz defender um redirecionamento e uma melhor sistematiza??o dos conte?dos de ensino, tendo como foco a pr?tica de leitura e a produ??o de textos, tendo em vista contribuir para a amplia??o das potencialidades discursivas dos alunos e, por conseguinte, de sua participa??o efetiva nas pr?ticas sociais de linguagem

We consider the myth of golden age as the main element of le clezio's texts ; indeed, in our point of view, his vision of the world is deeply influenced by the myth that gives to the le clezio's novels its real meaning. So we intend to study how the myth of golden age has "modeled" the fundamental parts of le clezio's books. That is to say his philosophical conception of space, of language, of game ; his position on original freedom and on modern slavery. We mostly used the theses of mircea eliade (the ontological aspect of the myth for example) because those theses allow to understand the various aspects of le clezio's thought. As an example, myth is defined by m. Eliade as "a story of a creation"; also the drift of le clezio consists in telling how modern man has himself lost golding age and has lived in a bad world. As well as the "fallingworld" is disqualified, as well as are exalted" the country of silence" and its people who could preserve oneself from the "fall". The texts of le clezio are built upon a series of oppositions assorted with a system of values that could be brought out by the structuralist method, even though we added other analyses including the social context, the author's personnality and the ontological aspect. Through the le clesio's novels, the myth of golden age finds again its sacred sense proper to the primitive people. Indeed le clezio's texts can help us to build a new world.

Nous avons tente de demontrer que la nostalgie, loin d'etre un affect, un sentiment, une psychologie de la memoire, s'avere un concept operatoire pour saisir la profondeur et l'originalite de l'oeuvre leclezienne, telle qu'elle se developpe a partir de 1978. En effet, la nostalgie, en tant que memoire positive ou progressive (a la difference de la melancolie romantique dont elle herite neanmoins), postule un temps reconcilie dans et par l'acte d'ecrire. L'ecriture nostalgique est conquete d'un equilibre perdu, conquete fragile d'un monde a la fois presence et absence. Par une etude precise du texte et de ses constituants (temps, espace, personnages), nous avons mis a jour le sens intime du mecanisme scriptural nostalgique qui debouche sur une memoire en acte. L'oeuvre leclezienne, dans son desir de renouer avec la langue du mythe, est tentative pour dire l'absence et, de fait, tension vers une pratique moderne de l'ecriture : la parole est comme trouee, portant en elle ses propres limites d'expression, repoussant les frontieres des genres litteraires. Des lors, l'enjeu, pour l'ecrivain, est de rendre visibles les traces de paroles oubliees et a venir, des traces largement intertextuelles constituees par la voix des autres (defoe, rousseau, bernardin de saint-pierre, baudelaire, nerval, rimbaud), des traces de soi projetees dans un temps collectif. Le lecteur est ainsi confronte a un imaginaire de la memoire toujours oblique, jamais ouvertement autobiographique, foncierement romanesque, grace a laquelle le clezio laisse sa trace extraordinairement vivante et unique dans le paysage litteraire contemporain.

The research addresses the multiple determinants that influence the reaprision of women and has been concerned to situate the issue from the point of view of Human Rights, but also, multidisciplinarily, articulating the areas of Law and Social Work. As a bridge between these areas of knowledge, critical criminology was used, which, unlike traditional criminology, will value in the stories of these women deprived of their freedom, their struggle efforts, confrontations, the quest to survive, recognizing what experiences brought them to prison and the reason for more rigorous punishments, because they were women, selected by their social class, and also subjected to physical and psychological "punishments", with the approval of the Judiciary, within the penitentiary. This is a qualitative study, carried out at the Madre Peletier Women's Penitentiary in Porto Alegre, using as research techniques semi-structured interviews with women in situation of restriction of freedom, interviews with the female agents responsible for maintaining them in prision, participative observation of prison dynamics, and document analysis, which had as sources the national and international legislation, as well as the official speeches contained in documents, decrees and resolutions of the punitive system.The research reveals the perverse reality experienced by women who have been re-confined, which imposes the need to deconstruct these two systems - criminal and penitentiary - that carry the traditional marks of criminal selection and arbitrariness, as well as affronting international treaties against torture and also those of human rights guarantees. In this perspective, the women participating in the study are seen in their specificities and peculiarities, considering economic, structural, social and cultural aspects of their life experiences that put them in a cycle of prisons, before, during and after going through concrete situations of incarceration , They are prisoners, because they are poverty, suffering all the violence of this situation.The study concludes that re-confined women are born imprisoned by their own social vulnerability and its consequences, due to their conflicting family relationships, the confrontation of domestic violence, the experience of exclusion within the region where they reside, making them return, even when they are released by the prison system, to this other type of prison, which is the precarious conditions of their social lives, fraught with gender oppression.
A pesquisa aborda os m?ltiplos determinantes que influenciam no reaprisionamento de mulheres e teve a preocupa??o de situar o tema sob a ?tica dos Direitos Humanos, mas, tamb?m, multidisciplinarmente, articulando as ?reas do Direito e do Servi?o Social. Como ponte entre essas ?reas de conhecimento, foi utilizada a criminologia cr?tica, que ao contr?rio da criminologia tradicional, vai valorizar nas hist?rias dessas mulheres privadas de liberdade, seus esfor?os de luta, enfrentamentos, na busca para sobreviver, reconhecendo quais foram as experi?ncias que lhes trouxeram para pris?o e a raz?o das puni??es mais rigorosas, pelo fato de serem mulheres, selecionadas pela classe social, e, ainda, submetidas a ?castigos? f?sicos e psicol?gicos, com o aval do Poder Judici?rio, dentro da penitenci?ria. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa, realizado na Penitenci?ria Feminina Madre Peletier em Porto Alegre, utilizando como t?cnicas de pesquisa entrevistas semiestruturadas com mulheres em situa??o de restri??o de liberdade, entrevistas com as servidoras encarregadas em mant?-las, a observa??o participante da din?mica prisional e an?lise de documentos, que teve por fontes a legisla??o nacional e internacional, bem como os discursos oficiais exarados nos documentos, decretos e resolu??es do sistema punitivo. A pesquisa revela a realidade perversa vivenciada pelas mulheres reaprisionadas, o que imp?e a necessidade de desconstru??o desses dois sistemas ? criminal e o penitenci?rio - que carregam as marcas tradicionais de sele??o penal e da arbitrariedade, al?m de afrontarem os tratados internacionais firmados contra a tortura e tamb?m os de garantias de direitos humanos. Nessa perspectiva as mulheres part?cipes do estudo s?o vistas nas suas especificidades e peculiaridades, considerando aspectos econ?micos, estruturais, sociais e culturais de suas experi?ncias de vida que as colocam em um ciclo de pris?es, antes, durante e depois de passarem por situa??es concretas de encarceramento, eis que s?o prisioneiras, pelo fato de serem pobres, sofrendo todas as viol?ncias dessa situa??o. O estudo conclui que as mulheres reaprisionadas nascem aprisionadas pela pr?pria vulnerabilidade social e suas consequ?ncias, face as suas rela??es familiares conflitivas, o enfrentamento da viol?ncia dom?stica, a viv?ncia de exclus?o dentro da pr?pria regi?o onde residem, fazendo com que mesmo liberadas pelo sistema prisional, retornem a esse outro tipo de pris?o, que s?o as condi??es prec?rias das suas vidas sociais, carregadas de opress?es de g?nero.
