Résumé :
Captions, which are used as a means of information support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, are usually presented only in text form. Therefore, when mathematical equations and figures are frequently used in a classroom, the captions will show several demonstrative words such as “this equation” or “that figure.” As there is a delay between the teacher’s utterance and the display of the captions sometimes, it is difficult for users to grasp the target of these demonstrative words accurately. In this study, we prepared hybrid captions with mathematical equations and figures and verified their effectiveness via a comparison with conventional text-only captions. The results suggested that the hybrid captions were at least as effective as the conventional captions at helping the students understand the lesson contents. A subjective evaluation with a questionnaire survey also showed that the experimental participants found the hybrid captions to be acceptable without any discomfort. Furthermore, there was no difference in the number of eye movements of the participants during the experiment, suggesting that the physical load was similar for both types of captions.

Résumé :
Since constructional apraxia is often concomitant with brain lesions, the study of constructional tasks in the non-brain-damaged population might be useful in helping to disentangle other causal factors. This paper explores the performance of illiterate individuals (N = 29) as compared to that of semiliterates (N = 21) and literates (N = 23) in order to see the effect of reading and writing abilities on constructional tasks. Each participant was asked to construct 4 figures based upon models having varying degrees of complexity. A global criterion of lack of fidelity and several analytic criteria (related to distortion, rotation, and disarticulation errors) were used to evaluate performance. Although illiterates generally made more errors than semiliterates and semiliterates more than literates, only some of these differences were statistically significant. Significant differences were found for lack of global fidelity and disarticulation errors when all 4 figures were considered together. Subtler data emerged with respect to single figures. Résumé :
Nationalism can be interpreted as a natural love for the country, an awareness that encourages to establish sovereignty and an agreement to form a state based on an agreed nationality and serves as the first foothold and goal in carrying out cultural and economic activities. Therefore, this paper aims to describe the forms of nationalism in Tere Liye's novel Serial Anak Nusantara. The source of this research is Tere Liye's novels, entitled Si Anak Badai, Si Anak Pintar, and Si Anak Special. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data taken in this study are forms of nationalism that are described by the main character in the three novels. The results of this study are two nationalist attitudes that stand out from the three novels of Serial Anak Nusantara, namely nationalism and ethnic nationalism. The two attitudes of nationalism are illustrated through the actions of the figures, namely helping to catch robbers, working together, helping parents, and voicing opinions. Ethnic nationalism is described by the main character, namely helping friends, preserving forests, forgiving each other.

Résumé :
AbstractThe paper deals with significantly different sources and historical periods: the parts dedicated to breastfeeding are based on votive statuettes of adults with infant/s from ancient Latium and Southern Etruria; the ones on pregnancy and childbirth are based on two archeological sources – one from Southern Etruria and one from Imperial Rome – which show the male (divine) appropriation of exclusively female biological functions; The parts on mothering are based on the concept of “mothering figures” (male mothering, animal mothering…) through mythological examples from Greek, Etruscan, and Roman art and narratives. Despite the heterogeneous documentation, we may conclude that the mother was not the only active character in the process of conceiving, giving birth, breastfeeding, and raising an infant in the Greek, Etruscan, and Roman societies. Many other figures close to the mother – male and female – were engaged in obtaining divine protection for her and her child; in helping, supporting, and even substituting her when necessary (and, of course, when possible). The research has been conducted mainly by using the concept of kourotrophia and mothering figures as analytical tools.

Résumé :
Abstract The collapse of the traditional Japanese household system and the subsequent social advancement of women has led supporting parents as a family matter, and led more men to assume caregiving roles; however, very few studies have focused on sons’ care motivation. This study aimed to understand adult sons’ perceived care motivation and to examine the respective related factors of emotional attachment and reciprocity. A total of 1322 men (M [age] = 44.5) participated in a web-based questionnaire survey. Perceived care motivation for providing five types of support (e.g., helping with daily activities and housework) to each parent and parent-in-law was assessed. Regression analyses revealed that emotional attachment with parents and parents-in-law predicted perceived care motivation for all types of support. Furthermore, the role of reciprocity was indicated by the association between rearing by mother-in-law and son-in-law’s motivation to provide assistance in financial matters, housework, and visiting a hospital.

Résumé :
Representations of fire in the U.S. are often tinged with nostalgia: for unburned landscapes, for less frequent fires, for more predictable fire behavior, or for a simpler, more harmonious relationship between human communities and wildfire. Our perspective piece identifies four prevalent nostalgic figures that recur in popular representations of wildfire: the Giant Sequoia, the Heroic Firefighter engaged in “the Good Fight”, the Lone Frontiersman, and the “Noble Savage”. We assess the affordances and constraints of each of these figures for helping and/or hindering fire management. We consider how some forms of nostalgia position particular humans as heroes and fire as a villain, how others prioritize the communities that come together to face catastrophic fire events, and how some romanticize Indigenous burning practices. Drawing on knowledge from fire science, human geography, and the environmental humanities, we suggest that a more nuanced understanding of nostalgia can be useful for fire management and for finding healthier ways of living with more fire in the future.

Résumé :
In the 1930s, as the power of the Nazis grew, many leading German academics and scholars sought refuge in other countries, including. the UK, the USA and many countries in Europe. Some of the refugees were already well known for their achievements, such as Einstein, Fermi, Schoenberg, Bartok, Brecht and Weill. The more established figures had easier access to those countries offering them refuge, whereas others at that time had fewer choices. The Academic Assistance Council in London and the Royal Society played a significant role in helping academic refugees find places in universities and other institutions where they could continue their research. The USA favoured distinguished academics, whereas the UK and other European countries were more open to younger academic refugees, who would subsequently make their name. There was, however, also opposition from various quarters, including State Department officials in the USA and certain British Noble Lords. Without the dedication and determination of many establishment figures on both sides of the Atlantic, the wealth of talent that had until that time been nurtured in Germany would have been lost. This article describes some of the prominent British figures who played such a significant and, as it turned out, life-saving role during this crucial period.

Released in May 2018, the song “Anpanman” by the world’s most popular K-Pop boy group to date, BTS, shares the idea of being a hero by setting an example from the Japanese superhero Anpanman. Anpanman, whose head is made of red bean paste-filled pastry, is well-known for his superpower ability to share parts of his head to those in need. This humble and self-sacrifice mode of helping others seems to be the basic idea of the song, to represent what BTS is about. This essay aims to further dissect the song lyrics of “Anpanman” to show the ambivalence presented between the concept of hero and superhero (termed here as (super)hero). The discussion goes further to juxtaposing the concept of hero/superhero with idol, a term used as another one of BTS’s songs “Idol”. Considering that in K-Pop, being an idol is practically a dream job, it is therefore paramount that in discussing the songs, this essay highlights the paradox of what it means to be a hero/superhero with an idol. Within the frame of network analysis, the discussion is conducted specifically along the line of the effects that digital culture has, which helps the spreading of BTS’s popularity and persona globally. In this light, this essay argues that beyond the songs, a problematic view on what it means to be a hero and an idol is projected. Ultimately, the discussion concludes that such an ambivalent view potentially leads to a reconceptualization of a superhero figure.Released in May 2018, the song “Anpanman” by the world’s most popular K-Pop boy group to date, BTS, shares the idea of being a hero by setting an example from the Japanese superhero Anpanman. The Art, Design, Architecture and Media (ADAM) information gateway attempted to satisfy this demand, whilst also helping to develop appropriate methodologies and standards. One of ADAM’s successors, Artifact, adopted an expanded role and provided additional services. Artifact subsequently became part of Intute: Arts and Humanities, which covers a broader range of subjects. Surveys, usage figures and social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us suggest that some – but not all – users and potential users appreciate the services that gateways, portals and hubs can provide.

Résumé :
For centuries, Santa Claus has proved to be a pervasive, persistent and influential mythic figure who dominates children’s lives for several weeks each year. But unlike most other fantasy figures, Santa Claus is presented as a real entity, a feat achieved through the widespread deception of children. This deception primarily involves a child’s family, but is also encouraged and maintained by wider society and its institutions. That educators could involve themselves in such a deception seems particularly controversial. Given their role as providers of epistemic goods, it appears like a dereliction of duty for them to seemingly encourage credulity and to deceive their students to maintain their false beliefs. However, I argue that there are epistemic benefits that can reaped by children through their experience of believing in Santa Claus and the process of independently disabusing themselves of these beliefs. For these benefits to be attained, educators must reluctantly engage in low-level paternalistic deception to keep their students in the dark about the truth, before then actively helping them to learn important epistemic lessons and foster key intellectual virtues as a result of their experiences. This justifies educators’ modest involvement in the Santa Claus deception.

Résumé :
AbstractNearly every major philosophy, from Plato to Hegel and beyond, has argued that democracy is an inferior form of government, at best. Yet, virtually every contemporary political philosophy working today endorses democracy in one variety or another. Should we conclude then that the traditional canon is meaningless for helping us theorise about a just state? In this paper, I will take up the criticisms and positive proposals of two such canonical figures in political philosophy: Plato and Hegel. At first glance, each is rather disdainful, if not outright hostile, to democracy. This is also how both have been represented traditionally. However, if we look behind the reasons for their rejection of (Athenian) democracy and the reasons behind their alternatives to democracy, I believe we can uncover a new theory of government that does two things. First, it maps onto the so-called Schumpeterian tradition of elite theories of democracy quite well. Second, perhaps surprisingly, it actually provides an improved justification for democratic governmentas we practice it todaythan rival theories of democracy. Thus, not only are Plato and Hegelnotenemies of modern democratic thought after all, but each is actually quite useful for helping us develop democratic theory in a positive, not negative, manner.

This article examines the aspects that influenced the emergence of the animation industry format aimed specifically at selling toys. In addition, this article also aims to find out whether the purpose of this animation business is still relevant to be used today by analyzing animated characters and their toy figures related to the exploration of culture, ideology, and supporting factors. In its first development, animation was used to deliver messages in the advertising industry. Then animation became a promising industry with the emergence of Snow White which was made for big-screen consumption. The emergence and popularity of television in the '60s provided new opportunities for the animation industry, stimulating the development of animated television series. Animated television series have a significant role in helping the marketing of derivative products in the animation industry. The 80s became a golden year for the animation industry and its derivatives, which was marked by the emergence of many animated films with the main business objective of selling toys. The declining popularity of television and the increasing use of the internet as a medium of entertainment will undoubtedly impact the development of the animation and toy industry. The power of character toy figures as a sole entertainment has also begun to come under pressure from the video game industry.

A comparison of similar narrative figures in presumably unrelated cultures may contribute to the discovery of blind spots and new areas of reflection in ethnographical description and thus indirectly contribute to a better basis for comparative studies. The lack of money and precious metals in the Iroquoian repertoire shows contrasting concerns between Saami and Iroquoian tradition, suggesting new directions of reflection on the Iroquoian material, namely in terms of hunting and warfare luck in the context of guardian and helping spirits. The stereotyped simplicity of the Iroquoian material in contrast with the variety of the Saami material suggests 1) the superimposition of a heavier load of concerns and values on the Saami figures and opens for reflection the possibility of an archaic Stallo who more purely represents the interaction between the human and the natural world in terms of guardian and helper spirits; and 2) the possibility of approaching the Saami material from the point of view of local repertoire and concern in order to reduce false problems of complexity. The Saami material serves to clarify the particular configuration of the Stone Coat tradition through a comparison of similarities and contrasts. Also, the Iroquois material may stimulate some clarification of some aspects of the Stallo tradition.

Résumé :
AbstractSince the turn of the millennium, major political figures around the world have been routinely compared to Adolf Hitler. These comparisons have increasingly been investigated by scholars, who have sought to explain their origins and assess their legitimacy. This article sheds light on this ongoing debate by examining an earlier, but strikingly similar, discussion that transpired during the Nazi era itself. Whereas commentators today argue about whether Hitler should be used as a historical analogy, observers in the 1930s and 1940s debated which historical analogies should be used to explain Hitler. During this period, Anglophone and German writers identified a diverse group of historical villains who, they believed, explained the Nazi threat. The figures spanned a wide range of tyrants, revolutionaries, and conquerors. But, by the end of World War II, the revelation of the Nazis' unprecedented crimes exposed these analogies as insufficient and led many commentators to flee from secular history to religious mythology. In the process, they identified Hitler as Western civilization's new archetype of evil and turned him into a hegemonic analogy for the postwar period. By explaining how earlier analogies struggled to make sense of Hitler, we can better understand whether Hitler analogies today are helping or hindering our effort to understand contemporary political challenges.

Abstract The present paper describes a new, agent-based computer model that can simulate the evacuation of narrow body transport aeroplanes in the conditions prescribed by the airworthiness regulations for certification. The input data are extracted from a complete plan view of the cabin. The results include full egress details of all occupants, passengers and crew-members, and the most significant evacuation figures and diagrams. The model has been tuned and verified with real data of narrow body certification demonstrations. Numerical simulations of six narrow body aircraft, representative of current designs, show the capabilities of the model and provide relevant information on the relationship between cabin features and emergency evacuation results. Although the computer model has been developed for helping in the certification process it would be useful too in the design of new cabins.

Résumé :
The ecclesiastical history of early seventeenth-century Protestant Germany presents a generally gloomy picture. Lutherans and Calvinists, locked in increasingly uncompromising fratricidal controversy, divide the heartland of the Reformation against itself, thereby unwittingly preparing for the Habsburg reconquest of subsequent decades. In the light of this ensuing disaster, the heroes of the era are naturally identified as those few figures who attempted to combat the leading tendency of their age: the ecclesiastic irenicists, who appealed to the quarrelling theological groups to set aside their differences and join forces in defending the advances of the Reformation. In this they were destined to fail, but modern historians have nevertheless credited them with helping to break the ground later cultivated by the more successful proponents of reconciliation in the nineteenth century and the yet more broad-minded ecumenists of the twentieth.

At the beginning of 2020, China suffered a sudden epidemic, in which many extraordinary stories occurred. These stories in extraordinary times have stronger appeal to people than usual. In order to investigate which "Chinese spirit" stories have the deepest impact on higher vocational students, as well as the communication path of "Chinese spirit" loved by students and the effect of integrating "Chinese spirit" into classroom ideology and politics, a questionnaire was issued to architectural students to fully grasp the impact of "Chinese spirit" on higher vocational students. The results show that the most impressed "Chinese spirit" figures are medical personnel. Most students understand and agree with the "Chinese spirit", think that patriotism and "helping each other in the same boat" can best represent the Chinese spirit, and think that the integration of the "Chinese spirit" into classroom teaching has had a positive impact on them.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present pragmatism as a useful way for supervisors to help their research students become effective research writers. Design/methodology/approach – I first provide a brief overview of pragmatism, paying special attention to key figures such as John Dewey and Richard Rorty. Second, I suggest ways in which pragmatist supervisors might help research students improve as research writers by focusing on a set of issues including developing an andragogical relationship, adopting a pragmatist approach to ethics and discussing writing styles. Findings – Pragmatism is not offered as an approach which must necessarily be adopted by supervisors but, rather, as a useful set of resources for them to use as they try to help doctoral students develop as thesis/research writers. Originality/value – Pragmatism is rarely, if ever, discussed as a potentially fruitful and valuable way of helping students develop as doctoral writers.

Résumé :
The present paper analyses the aspects of investigations of crime involving cryptocurrencies as a payment instrument. Ever since their emergence, cryptocurrencies have come to be actively used by criminals in all types of illegal activities, such as drug trafficking, money laundering, illegal arms trade, payments for criminal services and many other crimes. The paper aims to establish the methods of crime investigation to track data on cryptocurrency transactions and identify and show up the participants of illegal operations. The author shows that the development of computer and digital information technologies and the Internet has brought about the ever-increasing prevalence of cryptocurrencies in all social domains, including the shadow sector, i. e., the criminal world. Figures are provided illustrating the overall circulation of cryptocurrencies in the world and its illegal segment. Explaining the attractiveness of cryptocurrencies for criminal structures, the author points at its anonymity and inadequate regulation of various aspects in laws. An analysis is provided of the practice of countries where cryptocurrency circulation is not only permitted but regulated to a maximum possible extent. The impact of such regulation for the state of the shadow cryptocurrency market is shown. The research further concerns the potential for bringing international expertise to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Potential methods of crime investigation concerning shadow cryptocurrency transactions are outlined, helping to identify and show up the participants involved. Forecasts are provided as to the development of modern forensics and the emergence of new forensic methods helping to uncover cryptocurrency-related crime; proposals are drawn for amending criminal and criminal procedure laws to facilitate investigations in the new context.

Résumé :
Gutoku Shinran 愚禿親鸞 (1173–1263) is one of Japan’s most creative and influential thinkers. He is the (posthumous) founder of what ultimately became Jōdo Shinshū, better known today as Shin Buddhism, the most widely practiced form of Buddhism in Japan. Despite this, his work has not received the global attention of other historical Japanese philosophical figures such as Kūkai 空海 (774–835) or Dōgen 道元 (1200–1253). The relationships of influence between Shin Buddhism in general—or Shinran’s work more specifically—and earlier Chinese sources, especially non-Buddhist sources, are complex, rarely examined in much detail, and often buried under layers of interpretive difficulties, made all the more challenging for contemporary Anglophone scholars by the ways in which Shin Buddhism has been marginalized in much of the philosophical scholarship on East Asian traditions. Exploring his work through a lens of connection to the broader Chinese philosophical landscape reveals new insights, both for our understanding of Shinran’s philosophical project, and for contemporary comparative engagement across East Asian traditions, helping to resituate Shinran as a globally significant philosopher.

When it lives it gives shelter, protection and food to many living things. Coral reefs offer multiple benefits to people and the economy - providing food, sustaining livelihoods, supporting tourism, protecting coasts, and even helping to prevent diseases. India has many coral coasts and coral areas. Lakshadweep is the largest among them. The coral reef in and around Lakshadweep has fascinated us. A travel in the remote islands and visit among the corals was an unique experience. The article deals with all aspects of coral kingdom including the islands. Not only facts and figures, it tells the story of travel and more; what happened on the way and in between; adventurous from the beginning to the end.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT This article has four specific goals: (1) to briefly historicize which theories, approaches, and methodologies have been more productive to the discussion of the notions of the “minor,” “minoritized,” “ultraminor,” “small,” “less-translated,” and “peripheral,” and to develop new paths of inquiry within the framework of a decentered literary and translation history; (2) to reflect on new terms such as “global minor,” or, more briefly, “global translation zones,” helping to better acknowledge emerging relations and connections that are not mediated by the alleged “centers”; (3) to divert the focus from the prevailing role of the author to the relevant figures of cultural mediators; and (4) to present a wide range of case studies on literary translation (from the late nineteenth century on) that may show how all this corpus of literary texts engage in the transnational cultural space through different translation practices. The article advances the hypothesis that all these languages, cultures, and literatures are not only relevant in their own right, but also from a broader perspective and in their relationships to the rest of the world.

Résumé :
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the source text used in text written by student authors and to check how it related to the quality of the text. Implications for writing education using data were also explored. Methods: An essay writing task using data was presented to 88 5th grade elementary school students and the results were evaluated. In addition, a T-unit analysis was performed with the data and texts produced by the students. Quantitative figures such as the number of quoted sentences, modified sentences, and adjacent sentences were calculated, and the correlation between the figures and text quality was analyzed. Results: The text quality was negatively correlated with the citation rate and positively correlated with the strain rate. The citation rate was correlated with organization among the sub-elements of the text query, and the transformation rate was correlated with the content and expression among the sub-elements of the text query. The citation rate showed a negative correlation with the total number of sentences, strain rate, and positive correlation with the number of adjacent sentences and number of texts. Conclusion: In a writing class, when material text is provided for the purpose of helping students to create content, it is necessary to instruct the students that the content of the material should be partially utilized. In addition, it is necessary to give specific examples of transforming and utilizing the contents of the data. Moreover, it is necessary to gradually transition from the stage of using a single text to the stage of using multiple texts.

In the Humbang Hasundutan Regency Local Leaders Election, the identity of the Marbun clan was used as a tool of political struggle to win candidates. The considerations underlying this research are the experience of the Marbun clan who lost in the previous two elections and the impact felt by the defeat, specifically: an uneven development focus and officials from the Marbun clan who rarely occupy positions in the government. Identity politics can be understood as a tool of political struggle of an ethnicity in an effort to achieve a goal. Identity politics is used as a tool based on two aspects, there are: based on similarity of identity and based on similarity of interests. The author uses qualitative methods with case studies. Data collection is obtained from the results of collecting primary data and also secondary data. Primary Data is obtained from the results of recorded and collected interviews. All the data obtained are analyzed qualitatively so that what is contained behind a reality can be revealed. The result of this study is that the clan plays a role in a person's political life so that the identity politics of the Marbun clan is used as a tool of political struggle from candidates in the main way to gain support through an approach to the Marbun clan group, called PTMI (Parsadaan Toga Marbun Indonesia) Humbang Hasundutan Regency and Mabun clan figures because of the community's obedience to these figures and the nature of loving and helping each other among the siblings of the three clans on Toga Marbun, they are: Lumban Batu, Banjarnahor, and Lumban Gaol.

Résumé :
Children make up half of the world's refugees, yet limited research documents the views of youth about migratory causes and recommendations. While there is wide recognition of migrant children's right to free expression, few opportunities exist to productively exercise that right and provide input about their views. This article analyzes the responses of Central American and Mexican migrant children to one interview question regarding how to help youth like themselves, and identifies several implied “no-win” situations as potential reasons for the migration decisions of unaccompanied children. Furthermore, the children's responses highlight the interconnected nature of economics, security, and education as migratory factors. Examination of children's political speech revealed primarily negative references regarding their home country's government, the president, and the police. The police were singled out more than any other public figures, with particular emphasis on police corruption and ineffectiveness. Additional analysis focused on children's comments regarding migration needs and family. Recommendations for future action include: • recognizing entwined motivations and no-win situations that may lead children to leave their countries of origin; • promoting integrated approaches to home country economic, security, and education concerns for Central American and Mexican youth; • acknowledging migrant children's political interests and concerns; • providing youth with meaningful opportunities to contribute their views and suggestions. • incorporating migrant children's input and concerns into spending plans for US aid appropriated for Central America; and • emphasizing youth leadership development in efforts to address child migration.

Résumé :
Under the background of quality education reform, aesthetic education, as a crucial part of people’s all-round development, has its unique value. Thus, aesthetic education has become more important and should be integrated into teaching fully. In English teaching, helping students experience the beauty of speech is one of the ways to achieve it. Meanwhile, relevant requirements have been stipulated in Ordinary High School English Curriculum Standards (2017 edition 2020 revision). Vocabulary teaching strategies are systematic behaviors that seek to maximize vocabulary teaching effectiveness under the guidance of teachers’ cognition of certain teaching philosophies and teaching situations. It is so crucial for vocabulary teaching that aesthetic education should be integrated into it. Therefore, this research attempts to propose vocabulary teaching strategies based on aesthetic choices. These strategies include: connecting the vowels closely to teach the pronunciation and spelling of vocabulary based on the spelling rules; using phonetic rhetoric in sentence construction to make it more readable and rhythmic; using figures of speech in sentence construction to give learners a deeper impression; making example sentence symmetric, succinct, and simple; and make vocabulary teaching a logical and systematic whole.

Résumé :
The trend of Hijrah in Indonesia has made several fashion industries develop rapidly. This is strengthened by artists or public figures who decide to ‘hijrah’, so that their fans will follow. Not a few artists who left the entertainment world have transformed into businessmen of Muslim clothing, headscarves to hijabers on instagram. On the other hand, fulfilling the need for Islamic dress makes it more expensive to follow the development of increasingly diverse fashion models. This consumptive behavior paradigm is caused by a shift and change in the values of capital. This research examines how Karl Marx's approach to historical materialism is related to the proposition that production and distribution are the basis of humans in helping to develop their existence. For him, the process of human life in history is divided into two factors, namely the basis (economic factors) and the superstructure (religion). In principle, Marx emphasized that the economic basis is what will determine the superstructure of society. Marx said religion was like opium. The more people serve their religion, the more they lose themselves. Because man made religion, not religion made man.

Résumé :
Disparities in health and healthcare are a major concern in the United States and worldwide. Approaches to alleviate these disparities must be multifaceted and should include initiatives that touch upon the diverse areas that influence the healthcare system. Developing a strong biomedical workforce with an awareness of the issues concerning health disparities is crucial for addressing this issue. Establishing undergraduate health disparities courses that are accessible to undergraduate students in the life sciences is necessary to increase students’ understanding and awareness of these issues and motivate them to address these disparities during their careers. The majority of universities do not include courses related to health disparities in their curricula, and only a few universities manage them from their life sciences departments. The figures are especially low for minority-serving institutions, which serve students from communities disproportionally affected by health disparities. Universities should consider several possible approaches to infuse their undergraduate curricula with health disparities courses or activities. Eliminating health disparities will require efforts from diverse stakeholders. Undergraduate institutions can play an important role in developing an aware biomedical workforce and helping to close the gap in health outcomes.

Résumé :
Health impact assessments (HIAs) were first introduced in Sweden in the mid-to-late 1990s, with the aim of placing health issues on the political agenda and helping to reduce health inequalities. In the early 2000s, HIAs entered a second phase and the Swedish Parliament adopted a national public health policy. A national survey conducted in 2001 showed that 10/289 municipalities had begun to use HIA and 55/289 had decided to use HIA or had initiated an adoption process. In a 2013 follow-up study based on a strategic sample of municipalities, 9/36 municipalities reported using HIA and/or similar tools. Corresponding figures for the 21 Swedish regions were 10 regions in 2001 and four in 2013. HIA and similar tools (sustainability analyses, child impact assessments, and others) were applied to the same extent as HIA. Fifteen years after implementation began, HIA is still being used. Regions show a clear decrease in the use of HIA. There are several explanations for this development. One is the political context, and other explanations are shifts in which actors are responsible for HIA and for public health at the local/regional levels.

Résumé :
Evidence based practice is the steps taken for precaution, treatment and intervention of a disease that is dictated by the previous studies. The data collected by the predecessors who observed the initiation, progression and the termination or cure of a disease would be the guidance to future treatment. Years of trials and tests are done to determine the timeline of a disease and its termination, along with the effects that it leaves behind in long term. These facts and figures are important evidence to the future treatments. The idea of evidence based practice was coined in the late 1970s. It dictates that the care of patients done based on the evidence provided by the previous studies results in better recovery of the patients and less load on the healthcare system. This system is supposed to be efficient and provide the basic guidelines for the healthcare workers with a concrete basis for their work. The patients treated under evidence based practice ideally have a higher chance of survival than those who are treated without it. COVID-19 being a new disease has lack of previously accumulated evidence to support any treatment regimen that can ease the symptoms. Most of the treatments are based on recent trials and tests which are helping but in a limited scope.

Résumé :
This article explores the diversity of British literary responses to Diaghilev's project, emphasising the way in which the subject matter and methodologies of Diaghilev's modernism were sometimes unexpectedly echoed in expressions of contemporary British writing. These discussions emerge both in writing about Diaghilev's work, and, more discretely, when references to the Russian Ballet find their way into the creative writing of the period, serving to anchor the texts in a particular cultural milieu or to suggest contemporary aesthetic problems in the domain of literary aesthetics developing in the period. Figures from disparate fields, including literature, music and the visual arts, brought to their criticism of the Ballets Russes their individual perspectives on its aesthetics, helping to consolidate the sense of its importance in contributing to the inter-disciplinary flavour of modernism across the arts. In the field of literature, not only did British writers evaluate the Ballets Russes in terms of their own poetics, their relationship to experimentation in the novel and in drama, they developed an increasing sense of the company's place in dance history, its choreographic innovations offering material for wider discussions, opening up the potential for literary modernism's interest in impersonality and in the ‘unsayable’, discussions of the body, primitivism and gender.

Résumé :
Career planning in high school is a student activity that leads to career decisions in the future, this decision is very influential on the choices that will be taken on the future of students. for that the existence of the school becomes a forum in helping students with career planning to be chosen. Behavior that arises from the problem of career planning is because there are still students who have an indication of the inability to plan a career for the future, so that the information created can be useful material for educators, especially BK teachers if they encounter problems regarding student career planning. For this reason, this literature study uses modeling techniques in group guidance to help with student career planning. The purpose of this research is to be able to help students find interest in their career choices presented in groups and find models that can be used as figures to plan their careers. The method used is a literature review which collects information from previous findings and research. The results of this study can be a reference in providing group guidance modeling techniques to help with student career planning and can provide good services and can also help students in planning careers for their future. Résumé :
This study aims to provide evidence to support the development of automated vehicle (AV) safety assessments that consider the possible presence of non-motorized vulnerable road-users (VRUs) on limited-access highways. Although limited-access highways are designed to accommodate high-speed motor vehicles, collisions involving VRUs on such roadways are frequently reported. A narrative review is conducted, covering the epidemiology of VRUs crashes on limited-access highways to identify typical crash patterns considering collisions severity and the underlying reasons for the VRUs to use the highway. The review results show that occupants alighting from a disabled or crashed vehicle, people seeking help or helping others, highway maintenance zones, police stops, and people crossing a highway should be given priority to ensure VRU safety on limited-access highways. The results are summarized in figures with schematic models to generate test scenarios for AV safety assessment. Additionally, the results are discussed using two examples of traffic situations relevant to the potential AV-VRU crashes on highways and the current performance of autonomous emergency braking and autonomous emergency steering systems. These findings have important implications for producing scenarios in which AV may not produce crashes lest it performs worse than human drivers in the proposed scenarios.

Résumé :
According to attachment theory, security providing attachment figures fulfill two main functions: (1) safe haven—providing safety and comfort and reducing stress—helping people regain a sense of security; and (2) secure base—providing resources and a base from which people can spring into action. According to the Dual Function of Security Priming Model, security priming can result in one of two outcomes paralleling these two functions. Which outcome is likely to present itself depends on the level of stress imposed by the context. Here we describe the Dual Function Model of Security Priming (DFSP) Model and provide evidence from a study examining the effects of attachment security priming on hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal activity. In the study, participants were exposed to security-related cues under high or low/no-stress conditions, while their salivary cortisol concentrations were measured. Cortisol is a suitable index as it is released not only in response to stress, but also more generally when energy needs to be mobilized. We found that while security priming led to significant decreases in salivary cortisol concentrations when presented after a stressor (stress reduction), it led to a significant increase in salivary cortisol concentrations when presented before the stressor (energy mobilization).

Résumé :
AbstractEver since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the US presidency in June 2015, journalists, scholars, and other commentators in the United States have attempted to explain his political success with the aid of historical analogies. In so doing, they have sparked a wider debate about whether the Nazi past helps to make sense of the US present. One group in the debate has contended that Trump's ascent bears a worrisome resemblance to interwar European fascism, especially the National Socialist movement of Adolf Hitler. By contrast, a second group has rejected this comparison and sought analogies for Trump in other historical figures from European and US history. This article surveys the course, and assesses the results, of the debate from its origins up to the present day. It shows that historians of Germany have played a prominent role in helping to make sense of Trump, but notes that their use of Nazi analogies may be distorting, rather than deepening, our understanding of contemporary political trends. By examining the merits and drawbacks of Nazi analogies in present-day popular discourse, the article recommends that scholars draw on both the German and American historical experience in order to best assess the United States's present political movement.

Résumé :
Those involved in educational programs with Aboriginal children have noted that the parents have little contact with the schools, and feel that they are unable to help their children with their school work, even where they express interest in their children’s school progress. In her comprehensive study of the Aboriginal Secondary Grants Scheme, Watts (1976) reported that fewer than 40% of parents said that they helped their children with their schoolwork, and the main reason they gave for not helping was that they did not feel able to. Furthermore, the majority of Aboriginal parents had little contact with the school: 70% stated that they had not met their children’s teachers. These figures refer to parents of high school children, but it seems unlikely that the pattern would be greatly different if home-school contacts at the primary level were investigated. Watts (1975:48) commented that schools have done little to involve parents in a meaningful way in the education of their children, and so parents remain unaware of the practical ways in which they could help their children and support them in their schooling. A great gulf is fixed between the home and the school, to the disadvantage of many children in Australian society.

Résumé :
The article focuses on the study of graphic works depicting the life of the Moscow metro, created in 1980–1990 by the Moscow artist Alyona Dergiliova. The etchings convincingly reflect the life of our people on the threshold of national historical development. In her complex, variously sized, drawn from life compositions with many figures in motion, the artist mastered the whole range of compositional and visual devices that she would use in her narrative watercolours of the 2000s. She found the contrast of the pathos in the metro interior – stations with a bustling motley crowd of Muscovites deep in themselves and rather shabby travellers from the depths of the Russian backcountry – which became the counterpoint for her further creative search for the image of Moscow. Investigation of resources, experiments in methods of taking the motion of subjects beyond the boundaries of the compositional plane, allow the series to be included in the list of artistic experiments relentlessly carried out by Dergiliova despite the years of difficulties in her creative life. The theme of ‘A Man and His City’ is apparently simple but it is resolved in a multitude of complex relationships carried from life on the squares of Moscow over to the interiors of its underground. People above and underground are the same, with their acquired strangeness, yet their psychological state in a confined space is different. The environment – albeit imperceptibly – changes people. It is vibrant all the same, but in a different way. The architecture inside the metro is closer to the person, and Dergiliova successfully uses this aspect in building her composition. The compositions include many recognizable details of architectural decor which complement the central narrative. These details are clues helping the viewer to figure out its meaning. The characteristic feature of the metro is motion, and the artist draws numerous human figures, figurative stucco elements, sculptural compositions, chips and cracks in the steps, chandeliers swinging at the arrival of the subway train – into an endless cycle. Scenes depicting the entrances to the metro is a separate theme, which is almost non-existent in Russian art. By rendering the entrances as energy hubs – breaches between the aboveground Moscow and its underground – Dergiliova fills them with particular meaning, as all these people, drawn by a skilful and confident hand, will have to squeeze into the endless corridors and noisy subway wagons rattling on rails. Careful analysis of the artist’s creation reveals the disturbing condition of the master’s soul. The condition which the masters of art were firmly in for the entire decade after the events depicted in these works.

Résumé :
The Covid-19 problem that continues to haunt public life impacts the implementation of religion in society. For this reason, faith has moved itself to overcome the prevention that has been carried out. Religion plays a significant role in regulating human life, so religious leaders are always expected to provide guidance and religious doctrine in responding to covid 19. The purpose of this study was to find out about the views of Islamic religious leaders and from religious doctrine itself in responding to the Covid pandemic. -19. The method used is the descriptive qualitative research method. Primary data sources are sources taken directly from religious organization figures such as Nahdlatul Ulama, Persatuan Islam, and Muhammadiyah. The secondary data sources are literature such as books, journals, and other scientific works to collect data systematically. Data analysis was carried out in several ways, namely data reduction, data presentation and verification. Religious institutions also have a role in the community in responding to the Covid-19 outbreak, namely moving in helping the community, providing solutions and contributing according to government regulations to the community. In matters of worship, the community must know whether the rules of congregational worship are allowed or not and whether other sacred places are allowed to be visited. It all goes into the role of religious institutions in guiding the community.
