Résumé :
To investigate the impact of Library automation services in Govt. First grade college libraries in kolar district. The investigators used a questionnaire and interviews. They chose samples on the basis of a stratified sampling method and administered the questionnaire according to a random method for collecting the data. In this study revealed that 7 of 8 libraries are completely automated. Seventy per cent of librarians believe that automation has improved their library’s services, while 85 per cent of users believe that an automated library system is better than the traditional manual system. Of the eight libraries, one library has a shortage of general staff to deal with automation services. The investigators could only select all the institutions for his study. Although so many studies of the same kind have already been conducted on library automation services in different areas of world, this paper revealed the current status of library automation services in Govt. First grade college libraries in kolar district.

Résumé :
The public libraries play very important role in fostering the intellectual development of society at large. They support both formal and non-formal education systems of our society. They are considered as People’s University and serve as a center for self-education and lifelong learning. They are considered to be an intellectual power house which strives to fulfill and meet the educational needs of the public through varied resources and services Presented Research Paper reveals that Rajasthan State are need urgent attention on the District Public libraries for lack of staff and insufficient budget. It’s great achievement that in 2006, Library legislation passed in Rajasthan but not seems their major effects till today. I think Rajasthan needs advocacy to run the Public libraries. In Rajasthan, maximum libraries are facing the problem of book losses and no regular basis stock verification done. Hope after reviewing this study Govt. of Rajasthan will observe the pros and cons.

In GOST R 7.0.87– 2018 the definition of a “book monument” is given and the general requirements for the work of the staff of the relevant departments of scientific libraries are set out. GOST R 7.100–2018 will replace one of the most well-known standards 7.1–2003 and will require special attention from the library community. For the first time, GOST R 7.0.102–2018 regulates the requirements for the preparation of the most important document determining the acquisition policy of scientific libraries, the acquisition profile. GOST R 7.0.103–2018 complements the dictionary of library standardized terminology with hundreds of new terms. Most of them are constantly used in everyday practice.

Résumé :
This paper aims at exploring the ways, through which the academic librarians engage themselves in continuing professional development (CPD) activities. It also identifies the sources that academic librarians feel helpful for their CPD. These librarians neither had any ICT training before nor educated during their Master in Library and Information Science (MLIS) for the use of the latest technology, and are considered as digital novice. Librarians are required to keep them up to date to survive in this competitive information marketplace. They need to get familiarized with the latest technology and its applications for the libraries to minimize the gap between the information and its users. CPD allows receding from the traditional approach and muddling through the new digital arena. To get the vivid picture in the current scenario qualitative approach was used. Interviews were used as data collection technique. The population of this study was these digital immigrants librarian who got their MLIS degree before year 2001 and never had any formal ICT training before joining the profession and working in the University of the Punjab. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to choose the sample of 12 respondents. The subsequent analysis will help librarian judge the present status of their CPD activities and to determine the ways to improve self-directed or organizational learning. It will be of assistance to the library schools, library management, library association and the policy makers to improve the existing training programs or to design the new programs to fulfill the requirements.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact and role of libraries of the Institutes of Management in India in their research output. The study is based on the seven point performance evaluation parameter, whereby each individual library has been ranked on the basis of aggregate performance against each individual parameter. Some of the key parameters evaluated, include, preference of resource procurement namely, electronic or print, utilisation of library budget towards the procurement of print and electronic resources, average fund utilisation on resource procurement against each published research article and average fund utilisation on resource procurement against each faculty member. Research output against each faculty member and various other similar aspects have been evaluated. Design/methodology/approach The study is limited to the management institutes of India, but the findings can be generalised to assess omit it the overall trend across the management institutes in general and India in particular. The study is based on 2016 ranking list of Institutes of Management in India, compiled and released by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India for the period 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. Findings From the data analysis, it emerged that almost three-fourth of the library budget in the leading Management Institutes across India is being spent on the procurement of e-documents, mostly in the form of subscription of online journals. On average 1.18 research articles have been published by each faculty member during the period of study from each institute under study, with an average annual institutional research output of 19.63 research articles. In terms of resource allocation, on average Indian Rupees (INR) 0.986/million has been spent by each institutional library on the resource procurement against each published research article, and INR1.166/million has been spent on the resource procurement against each faculty member. Practical implications The study is an attempt to seek correlation between the money spend on the procurement of resources and its direct impact on the research output of that particular institution. Originality/value The study is original and first of its kind, undertaken in India.

Résumé :
This study consists of two separate, but overlapping cases. As a consequence of a merger of four different higher education institutions in Norway, the [University name] got several nursing study programmes in different campuses. To get a more formal collaboration started, three university libraries decided to start a joint project. Case one was to build a product or service specifically designed for nursing students. Case two was to form a community of practice between librarians at the three libraries supporting these study programmes. Findings show that collaboration between different campus libraries is not always easy, even with online collaboration tools, but that a community of practice can be rewarding and an efficient way to collaborate. E-learning has been a way to serve both off-campus and campus students alike, and findings also show that building a product specifically designed for one user group can be exiting and worth the effort. The many mergers in higher education means that many librarians in Norway has become a part of much bigger units, and finding common ground, good collaboration methods and joint services to user groups are important issues.

Résumé :
A Review of: Dinkins, D., & Ryan, S. M. (2010). Measuring referrals: The use of paraprofessionals at the reference desk. The Journal of Academic Librarianship, 36(4), 279-286. Objective — To determine the type and percentage of questions referred to a librarian by a paraprofessional (i.e., an individual without an MLIS) staffing the reference desk, whether the percentage of referrals would decrease over time, and any consequences from having a paraprofessional rather than a librarian staffing the desk. Design — Quantitative analysis of reference desk transaction statistics. Setting — Reference desk at the main library of Stetson University, a private university in the United States of America with approximately 2,500 FTE (full-time equivalent) students. Subjects — A total of 486 reference desk transactions recorded by a paraprofessional staffing the reference desk during the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2008-2009 academic year. Methods — The first year that he worked in the Library at Stetson University, a paraprofessional recorded all reference desk transactions during his shift from 10:00am to 12:00pm, four days a week, for the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2008-2009 academic year. This paraprofessional, with computer expertise, received “relatively minimal” (p. 281) training on “reference desk policies and procedures… the use of the catalogue and the subscription databases” (p. 281). For each transaction, the paraprofessional categorized the question as “direction,” “reference,” or “machine.” He was instructed to contact a librarian if he could not answer a reference question. The paraprofessional also completed a questionnaire regarding his level of comfort answering questions and his thoughts on the training at the end of his first year of staffing the reference desk. Main Results — In the Fall semester, 9.5% of all reference desk transactions were referred to a librarian. This decreased to 4.2% of the total transactions during the Spring semester. The percentage of reference questions referred to a librarian in the Fall semester was 21.9% and only 5.0% in the Spring semester. There was a 49.5% decrease in the number of reference desk transactions during the paraprofessional’s hours on the desk compared to the previous year when the desk was staffed by professional librarians. Overall, reference desk transactions for all hours decreased 4.1% compared to the previous year. The results from the questionnaire on his experiences at the reference desk showed that the paraprofessional was satisfied with his training, comfortable with referring questions to the librarians, did not use the print reference collection extensively, thought the “interface for searching the library’s catalogue/databases is dated at best” (p. 285), and felt that being close in age to many of the students was a disadvantage while working at the reference desk. Conclusion — The authors concluded that staffing the reference desk with a paraprofessional was a success and that the “referrals to librarians had been made appropriately and when necessary” (p. 285). The results corroborated previous studies that showed only a “small percentage of reference desk transactions would need to be referred to a librarian” (p. 285). In part, because of the success of staffing the desk with a paraprofessional, the authors suggest that reference desk staffing configurations at academic libraries should be reevaluated. Librarians freed from duties at the physical reference desk could use this time to “develop virtual reference services” and expand information literacy programs (p. 286). To explain the decrease in number of transactions during the paraprofessional’s time on the reference desk, the authors surmised four possibilities: patrons’ reluctance to ask questions of someone new on the desk, their dissatisfaction with the paraprofessional’s answers, the similarity in age between the paraprofessional and the “age of the student population” (p. 284), or the librarians being more conscientious in tallying every transaction. However, the authors doubted that users perceived the paraprofessional’s answers as “less satisfactory” as “patrons likely got a higher level of service on computer-related queries from the computer science-trained paraprofessional” (p. 284). Computer-related queries, coded as “machine” transactions, formed the majority of queries answered by the paraprofessional.

Résumé :
This work is based on field studies made in the year 2007 – a study of writings held by libraries and various govt. and semi-governmental bodies. Research reveals that many prominent people were buried in the Garut area, among them: Syech Sunan Rohmat (in the tomb of Godog), Raden Wangsa Muhamad (in the tomb of Cinunuk) and Syekh Jafar Sidiq, entombed at Cibiuk, one of the most charismatic religious leaders of his day. This third figure (Jafar Sidiq), and indeed his tomb, greatly helped the spread of Islam and even created Garut as a suitable place of pilgrimage, drawing even pilgrims from beyond Indonesia. The motivation for declaring these three tombs a suitable place for pilgrimage is based on the perception that these tombs are worthy places for meditation and for pondering a better life to come. It may be concluded that a number of religious observations, whether carried out individually or else as part of a group, are of great religious import. These pilgrimages continue to this day and may be reckoned as worthy of association with the greater pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Keywords: religion, pilgrimage, ancient tombs, Garut district.

Purpose – The aim of this research was to study collection development practices in some selected private university libraries in Malawi with special focus on University of Livingstonia and Adventist University Libraries. Design/methodology/approach – This research employed a case study approach that made use of both quantitative and qualitative methods. Data were collected using interview guides and coding schedules. Interviews were conducted with university librarians of the two institutions. Self-administered questionnaires were administered to the Finance Officers and University Librarians of the institutions covered by the study to collect financial statistics and data relating to collection development. Qualitative data were analysed thematically while quantitative data were analysed using Ms Excel. Findings – Findings of the study indicated that private university libraries in this study are funded mainly by parent institutions. Funding is not adequate as is the case with public university libraries in the country. This had adversely affected collection development practices that include purchase of materials and staff training. The two institutions, however, differed in terms of the other collection development activities they undertook, and magnitude of the challenges they faced, something that was attributed to slight difference in terms of funding they got from parent institutions. Practical implications – The study sheds light on the collection development practices of University of Livingstonia Library and Adventist University Library, and challenges facing them. Some of these findings mirror those of other libraries not only in this sector, but also public university libraries in the country. Suggestions on how the collection development challenges facing the two libraries could be tackled have been made. It is hoped that the suggestions made could benefit other libraries who find themselves in a similar situation, if implemented. The study findings could also inform future researchers venturing in the same field. Originality/value – Very little is known about the collection development practices of private university libraries not only in Malawi but the world at large owing to lack of significant research undertaken on the topic. This study is, therefore, significant because its findings fill up the existing knowledge gap. If acted on, recommendations made could also help solve some of the challenges that are being faced.

It is a wonderful balance, but it has taken time to learn how these identities interact. Over time, they have merged. This essay looks at that, and at some of the language I have used to understand that bridge between these roles. I hope to lightly tie this language to aspects of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.

Which libraries do you use and how do your use them? Having lived rather isolated I have felt the need to build up my own library. In younger days I used the local public library quite a lot. Their collection of art books was rather meagre, but it was still a strong inspiration. They had got several current art magazines as well, both Norwegian and international. I still use’ public libraries, especially their collection of fiction, poetry, philosophy, etc., which is quite good. They provide the information they have not got themselves through inter-library lending, and the services have been quite satisfactory. Apart from the library of the Statens Kunstakademi (National Academy of Fine Art) I have never used a ‘professional’ art library.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify the frequency at which the users of agricultural libraries of Northern India tend to use the e-resources and explore the time they invest on average in a day in using e-resources. An effort has also been made to examine the state wise, university wise and user category wise tendency w.r.t. the frequency at which they use e-resources and the average time in a day they spend on their use. Design/methodology/approach A survey was adopted to conduct the study and a questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. The investigator also interacted with the librarians through telephone and also resorted to the e-mail communication to substantiate the responses and seek certain clarifications thereof. Statistical Package for Social Science was used to analyse the data on an empirical basis. χ2 test was used to derive an association between the variables and test the level of significance thereof. Findings It is found that the users of North Indian agricultural libraries have got a great tendency to use e-resources as majority of them are seen to use them “daily” and “2-3 times a week”. They prove to be voracious, prudent and sensible users in the sense that they spend 2 hrs in a day, 1 hr in a day and even 3 hrs in a day on usage of e-resources and thus go at par with the use pattern recorded in other domains of knowledge across India. No remarkable difference is witnessed among different categories of users w.r.t. frequency of use and the time spend on use of e-resources. Research limitations/implications This study has been conducted on e-resources only. Response to a similar set of questions need to be collected from the same library users to consolidate the facts about the print form of information and thus carryout a comparative study. Originality/value This is first work of its nature in Northern India with domain as agricultural libraries. The outcome of the study will enable the librarians to judiciously decide about the proportion at which the two formats of information resources need to be acquired and the facilities the libraries need to create for adequate, smooth and reliable access to two formats of information.

The author described of this article described the process of isolation of a subgroup of municipal scientific libraries from the larger group of public ones. First public libraries with scientific functions were created on the Polish territory at the beginning of the 20th century and in the 1920s. In the 1960s, after discussions that lasted for over ten years, 8 big public libraries formally got the status of scientific libraries, which was confirmed in the the Library Act of April 9th, 1968. However, due to lacking detailed regulations and appropriate funding, proper functioning of public scientific libraries was hindered in the time of the People’s Republic of Poland.

Résumé :
The paper is based on the revealed domestic publications and analysis of vast publications in the foreign professional periodicals. Internet-based resources, e. g. www-sites of diverse organizations were analyzed, and the data on efficient Russian corporate libraries was identified. The national library studies exclude corporate libraries from the traditional official library typology. The national classification system (Library Bibliographic Classification, LBC) as well, does not envisage typology for the corporate libraries. The author does not possess statistical data. Some experts relate the concept to “corporations”, others see the corporate libraries as former “technical” (sectoral, industrial) libraries. However, the analysis findings demonstrate that this term can be primarily related to the concept of “corporate culture”. The corporate libraries make part of corporations, financial and trade companies, banks, foundations, joint-stock companies, etc. The prerequisites of extensive uprise of these libraries in Russia emerged in 1990s. The few publications on the topic are discussed along with the information available from Internet resources. The author concludes that the corporate libraries belong to special libraries, and within the latter group, the corporate libraries should be separated. Both state-funded and non-government organizations have got the libraries within their structure. The author attempts to formulate the definition for the new type of libraries, examines their functions and characteristic features, staff and users. The examples of the place of these libraries within the organizational structure are provided.

The Library and Archives Office of Magelang City can be said to be successful in supervising 30 libraries in Magelang City, with the result that 19 libraries got a grade of “A” and 11 libraries got a grade of “B”. It was interesting to study their activities in supervising the libraries in Magelang City. This study aimed to determine how to supervision process was carried out by the Library and Archives Office of Magelang City to supervise libraries in Magelang City that participated in library accreditation. The study used qualitative research with a case study approach conducted in Magelang City. Data collection techniques used interviews with related parties, namely the Library and Archives Office of Magelang City and Library Officers in Magelang City who participated in the accreditation. The selection of informants purposefully used the snowball technique until the data experienced a saturation point. The results showed that the Library and Archives Office of Magelang City carried out supervision consisting of 3 categories: supervising individuals, managing groups, and leading organizations. However, two items were not implemented in supervision activities; the first was managing reward items in the category of supervising individuals. The supervised library considered the accreditation certificate as a reward. The second was budgeting basics items in the category of managing groups. It resulted in the managing reward, which was not implemented; therefore, library supervision has succeed implement the supervision process in participating in library accreditation in Magelang City.

Résumé :
Currently, in Russia, within the system of standards on information, librarianship and publishing (SIBID) there are developing the documents that reflect specific aspects of technological processes for libraries of separate range. Such trends are observed in the group of national standards for scientific libraries. Along with the positive aspects of establishing narrow-profile standards aimed at methodological support of library-information activities of scientific libraries, there arises the need for similar justification of the specifics of all existing libraries (public, municipal, children’s) and the development of similar documents on standardization. In the practice of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) there is no area for the development of standards for different types of libraries; standardization is focused not only on the unification of terminological directions in the library community as a whole, but also on the interaction with the related branches. In the draft of the developed national standard GOST R “SIBID. Library and information activities. Terms and definitions” there are allocated more than ten types of libraries that have their own specifics, which must be taken into account when organizing the work. Narrow-profile standards were approved and positively evaluated by the target audience — scientific libraries; and the departmental interest of the founders of group of scientific libraries was taken into account. The debatable issue of expediency to develop this direction is the need to elaborate a series of similar standards for different types of libraries. Considering the wide range of cultural and educational activities of different types of libraries, there will be required the substantial revision of classification of services that will actually generate a new document. The author notes the limited nature of action of the draft standard GOST R 7.0... — “SIBID. State registration number of legal deposit copy of printed publication. Structure, execution and use” developed in accordance with the Program of national standardization for 2019. The draft document presents the developed technological process of one organization and does not provide recommendations on the procedure for assigning and using the state registration numbers of legal deposit copies of printed publications for all recipient organizations established by legislation. This draft can be considered as a standard of the organization. The emerging trend of creating narrow-profile standards, on the one hand, contributes to the development of thorough documents, on the other hand is aimed at supporting the activities of specific area. The efficiency of such approach to standardization requires discussion in the library community and, in case of further development, actions to strengthen methodological support for the maintenance and implementation of narrow-profile standards.

Résumé :
In practical production, almost all rams and about 50% of ewes are used to fatten. Researchers have proved that ewe ovariectomy could improve the productivity significantly, but the specific molecular mechanism is still unknown. In this study, five independent cDNA libraries (three and two from ovariectomized and normal ewe longissimus dorsi samples, respectively) were constructed to thoroughly explore the global transcriptome, further to reveal how the ovariectomized ewes influence muscle development by Illumina2000 sequencing technology. As a result, 205 358 transcripts and 118 264 unigenes were generated. 15 490 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) were revealed and divided into six types, and the short repeat sequence SSR (monomers, dimers, trimers) was the domain type. Single nucleotide polymorphism analysis found that the number of transition was greater than the number of transversion among the five libraries. Furthermore, 1612 differently expressed genes (DEGs) (Log2fold_change > 1 and p < 0.05) were revealed between ovariectomized and normal ewe groups, in which 903 genes were expressed commonly in the two groups, and 288 and 421 genes were uniquely expressed in normal and ovariectomized ewe groups, respectively. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis categorized all unigenes into 555 GO terms and 56 DEGs were significantly categorized into 43 GO terms ( p < 0.05). KEGG enrichment analysis annotated 12 976 genes (containing 137 DEGs) to 86 pathways, among them 24 and 11 DEGs involved in development and reproduction associated pathways, respectively. To validate the reliability of the RNA-seq analysis, 22 candidate DEGs were randomly selected to perform quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The result showed that 9 and 1 genes were significantly and approximately significantly expressed in control and treatment group, respectively, and the results of RNA-seq are believable in this study. Overall, these results were helpful for elucidating the molecular mechanism of muscle development of ovariectomized animals and the application of female ovariectomy in fattening.

Wikipedia and libraries got off to a strained start. Perhaps this is only my perception, but it appeared that Wikipedia was used as a defenseless punching bag in much information literacy instruction. The refrain was always “don’t use Wikipedia” or “don’t use Google” to the neglect of far worse research sources like Yahoo! Answers. This “traditional” stance of librarianship was that the community-edited encyclopedia failed any quality analysis due to its sketchy authority; “anyone can edit”—anonymously even!—and therefore its content cannot possibly be trusted. Instructors would even develop assignments wherein students would vandalize the encyclopedia, deliberately inserting inaccurate or incoherent content, to demonstrate its unreliability. Leaving ethics aside, such assignments are constructed to ignore the finely tuned “bots” (editing programs which constantly crawl the site looking for clear signs of mischief) and diligent editors working to remove such content.

Résumé :
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze the various features and functions of Koha, Libsys, NewGenLib and Virtua with the help of specially designed evaluation checklist and rank them based on features/functions of integrated library management system (ILMS). Design/methodology/approach – The evaluation approach taken in this paper is similar to that of Singh and Sanaman (2012) and Madhusudhan and Shalini (2014) with minor modifications, comprising 306 features/functions and categorized as ten broad categories. Findings – The paper explores different features of open source (OS) and commercial ILMS, which reveals that Virtua got the highest total score of 218 (77.86 per cent), followed by Koha ILMS with 204 score (72.86 per cent). Interestingly, NewGenLib got the lowest total score, that is, 163 (58.21 per cent). ILMS under study are lagging behind in exploiting the full potential of the Web 2.0 features, including cloud computing features, and needs to be addressed in their future development. Practical implications – It is hoped that both the OS and commercial software will attend to the lacunae and soon develop fully functional Web 2.0/3.0 and cloud-based technologies. Originality/value – The findings of this paper will not only guide the librarians in the selection of a good ILMS, which can cater to the needs of their libraries, but also abreast the knowledge of evaluation of ILMS for the students of Library and Information Science. And the findings will help the ILMS vendors to know the limitations of their ILMS, so that they can overcome the limitations faced by users and improve their products.

Résumé :
The article objective is to trace the process of prison libraries formation and features of their functioning in the XIX century under conditions of changing the Russian penitentiary system evidently for Tobolsk province. The first mention of the libraries is at the beginning of the XIX century. The author shows the book functioning process under prison conditions, its role in prisoners’ life, the first libraries formation as repositories of books and their activity, features of the educational work forms, relationship with the church and school. The initiative of distributing books of spiritual content among prisoners belongs to the church. The Bible Society played a certain role distributing the Bible and St. Scripture at the early XIX century everywhere, including prisons. At the initial stage libraries have been formed at prison churches, which book collections included literature of spiritual and moral content. Opening schools, the book collections got fiction, popular scientific literature on natural sciences and humanities. At the late XIX century every prison castle had own library working in close connection with the church: reading, conversations of spiritual and moral content, loud reading books by literate prisoners. Besides, the book performed leisure functions, contributed to the individual socialization.

Résumé :
The relevance of the topic is due to the great role of military-historical literature and libraries as its repositories in forming the historical memory ofthe people, which is important for ensuring the spiritual security of the country. The article is the first to examine publications on the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905 from the book collection of the “House of Officers of the Novosibirsk Garrison” of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, got from other military libraries. The purpose of the article is to identify the fate of military libraries. Research tasks are: 1) to calculate the number of publications on the Russian-Japanese War in the book collection of the “House of Officers...”; 2)to reconstruct their repertoire; 3) to determine libraries which collections they were originally included in. The study methodologically bases on historic, objective, systematic principles, localization of historical facts. Methods used are that of source studying, comparative and statistical. The work is done on a wide representative source base, constituted from pre-revolutionary publications of the “Houses of Officers...,” periodicals, regulatory and legal documents of the military department. 21 catalogs of officer libraries were analyzed, confirming the presence of issues on the Russian-Japanese War in them. As a result of the study, 92 pre-revolutionary works in 100 copies dedicated to the Russian-Japanese War were revealed in the library of the House of Officers. For 66 of them in 71 copies the former ownership of 18 military libraries was established. Their repertoire was reconstructed. The results show that the First World War, which destroyed the personnel of the Russian army, became an involuntary cause of the ruin of military libraries, having left them without supervision in the places of the previous quartering of troops and deprived them of officers - enthusiasts of librarianship. The revolutions of 1917, radical transformations of Soviet power and the Civil War completed the ruin of the tsarist army military libraries, which ceased to exist as independent book collections. The study has expanded the understanding of the state role in military-historical works’ dissemination and military libraries’ collections replenishment.

I got my first library card in 1958 while I was still five years old. It was orange and, from a writer’s point of view, I view it as a union card.Throughout my life, libraries have remained an evangelizing presence in the same way the Catholic church has, though gentler, and much less judgmental. Technically a lapsed Catholic, I am not a lapsed reader.

Résumé :
The article presents the detailed comments of the standard developer and the text of the SIBID national standard – GOST R 7.0.80–2023 “Bibliographic record. Heading. General requirements and rules” which puts into action from August 1, 2023. This standard brings about a change in the structure and composition of bibliographic record heading thus enabling to actualize and unify the method of its compiliation for all kinds of information resources. The GOST is intended for use by centers of the national (state) bibliography, libraries, publishers, information services and other organizations and structures dealing with the bibliographic activities. In this GOST in comparison with its predecessor of 2000 a number of new clauses is introduced, as well as the volume of information is broadened about identifying features, punctuation requirements and fully renewed album of specific examples. The rules for presentation of names of secular leaders and ecclesiastics of different confessions are fully shown because they often cause difficulties for a bibliographer. The given document should improve the searching efficiency and velocity of bibliographic information exchange.
