Résumé :
To investigate the impact of Library automation services in Govt. First grade college libraries in kolar district. The investigators used a questionnaire and interviews. They chose samples on the basis of a stratified sampling method and administered the questionnaire according to a random method for collecting the data. In this study revealed that 7 of 8 libraries are completely automated. Seventy per cent of librarians believe that automation has improved their library’s services, while 85 per cent of users believe that an automated library system is better than the traditional manual system. Of the eight libraries, one library has a shortage of general staff to deal with automation services. The investigators could only select all the institutions for his study. Although so many studies of the same kind have already been conducted on library automation services in different areas of world, this paper revealed the current status of library automation services in Govt. First grade college libraries in kolar district.

Résumé :
The public libraries play very important role in fostering the intellectual development of society at large. They support both formal and non-formal education systems of our society. They are considered as People’s University and serve as a center for self-education and lifelong learning. They are considered to be an intellectual power house which strives to fulfill and meet the educational needs of the public through varied resources and services Presented Research Paper reveals that Rajasthan State are need urgent attention on the District Public libraries for lack of staff and insufficient budget. It’s great achievement that in 2006, Library legislation passed in Rajasthan but not seems their major effects till today. I think Rajasthan needs advocacy to run the Public libraries. In Rajasthan, maximum libraries are facing the problem of book losses and no regular basis stock verification done. Hope after reviewing this study Govt. of Rajasthan will observe the pros and cons.

The purpose of the article is to inform and prepare libraries for the introduction from January 1, 2019 of the five State standards of the Russian Federation System of standards of information, librarianship and publishing: GOST R 7.0.64–2018 (ISO 8601: 2004) “Representation of dates and times. General requirements"; GOST R 7.0.102–2018 “Collection development profile for research libraries. Structure. Indicators of receipt of the documents"; GOST R 7.0.87–2018 “Book monuments. General requirements"; GOST R 7.100–2018 “Bibliographic record. Bibliographic description. General requirements and rules”; GOST R 7.0.103–2018 “Library and Information Services. Terms and Definitions". Given the general characteristics of their content. GOST R 7.0.64– 2018 (ISO 8601: 2004) should be known to all librarians. In GOST R 7.0.87– 2018 the definition of a “book monument” is given and the general requirements for the work of the staff of the relevant departments of scientific libraries are set out. GOST R 7.100–2018 will replace one of the most well-known standards 7.1–2003 and will require special attention from the library community. For the first time, GOST R 7.0.102–2018 regulates the requirements for the preparation of the most important document determining the acquisition policy of scientific libraries, the acquisition profile. GOST R 7.0.103–2018 complements the dictionary of library standardized terminology with hundreds of new terms. Most of them are constantly used in everyday practice.

Résumé :
This paper aims at exploring the ways, through which the academic librarians engage themselves in continuing professional development (CPD) activities. It also identifies the sources that academic librarians feel helpful for their CPD. These librarians neither had any ICT training before nor educated during their Master in Library and Information Science (MLIS) for the use of the latest technology, and are considered as digital novice. Librarians are required to keep them up to date to survive in this competitive information marketplace. They need to get familiarized with the latest technology and its applications for the libraries to minimize the gap between the information and its users. CPD allows receding from the traditional approach and muddling through the new digital arena. To get the vivid picture in the current scenario qualitative approach was used. Interviews were used as data collection technique. The population of this study was these digital immigrants librarian who got their MLIS degree before year 2001 and never had any formal ICT training before joining the profession and working in the University of the Punjab. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to choose the sample of 12 respondents. The subsequent analysis will help librarian judge the present status of their CPD activities and to determine the ways to improve self-directed or organizational learning. It will be of assistance to the library schools, library management, library association and the policy makers to improve the existing training programs or to design the new programs to fulfill the requirements.

The study of the fairy tale over the years 1690-1789, when the genre was in fashion in France, shows that, from its inception, the subject matter grew up with elements of realistic literary practice which were largely reshaped by imagination. The first storytellers (1690-1704) set up the literary genre according to a complex poetics allying the orality of naive times with literacy, which is the mark of a social and cultural practice of the story. The contributions of the forthcoming storytellers are imitations, parodies or are tinged with Orientalism. All the writers are affected, but to varying degrees: Perrault, Choisy and Fénelon are less inventive in this respect than Madame d’Aulnoy, Pétis de la Croix or the Chevalier de Mailly. The wonderland reveals its mysteries and the secret of its metatextual layout through more or less fleeting scenes of book reading or writing conjuring up a magical library

Résumé :
AbstractSince 6 BC, when the first university of the world was established in Takshila in India, higher education in India has been integrating advanced knowledge and skills with larger social concerns. Apart from teaching and research, a prime concern of universities is to engage with the community and to contribute towards the development of society. Much emphasis is placed on the values of education by complementing curricular instruction for shaping future generations and enabling active engagement with society. The emphasis has been on holistic development of the student leading to complete realization and liberalization of oneself. To quote Swami Vivekananda, a well-known Indian scholar, “Education is not the amount of information that we put into your brain and runs riot there, undigested, all your life. We must have life-building, man-making, character-making assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library. If education is identical with information, the libraries are the greatest sages of the world and encyclopaedia are the greatest Rishis”.

Résumé :
This chapter considers where readers got books from. Recent studies of the eighteenth-century book trade have emphasised how expensive books were—and thus should be regarded as luxury objects of that time. In addition, literacy was limited, and had not changed very much in half a century. Nonetheless, there were multiple points of access: alongside booksellers and their new books, there were newspapers and periodicals, second-hand stalls and shops, circulating libraries, abridgements, adaptations, books sold in numbers, and old-fashioned sharing, borrowing, and lending. Books, newspapers, pamphlets, and letters could be and were read aloud, in the home, in groups, in public places. All of this created ways into literature for a broader reading public, and offered alternative models for literary consumption.

Résumé :
Abstract Most jazz musicians have found it necessary to keep moving in order to make a living. A band might get lucky and stay in the same club for a month or two, but most jazz establishments prefer a more frequent change of attractions. When bands were in demand during the swing era, the most profitable schedule for bandleaders was a constant string of one-nighters. Sometimes the string got so long that the musicians fell into a road trance, never seeing any more of the places they stopped than the hotel room, the diner, and the bandstand. Phil Woods proposed a curriculum for teaching young students of jazz about the realities of the road: If I taught at a school, I would charter a bus and after I picked out my A-lab band, I would get this bus and I’d get all the kids and I’d have them get their libraries together and their music stands. I’d get uniforms for them. Have them get all their crap together, pack, get on the bus, close all the blinds, and just drive around the campus for about eight hours—don’t go anywhere, no visual delights to intrigue them. Get off the bus, set up, pick out a set, tune up, put their uniforms on.

Abstract Although T1 got its initial fame from its use, in 1943, by Salvador Luria and Max Delbruck in their landmark fluctuation test (64), an entirely different reason has resulted in its notoriety since then. This phage’s resistance to desiccation results in its persistence for weeks in an aerosol which in turn created a real nightmare for laboratories engaged in research employing E. coli K-12 strains. It was not uncommon to hear cries from laboratory workers that their overnight bacterial cultures contained only floating debris. This was the result of an onslaught by T1. Laboratories were quarantined for days until the airborne count of T1 vanished. Bacterial geneticists have had T1-resistant E. coli tonA mutants since the 1940s, and as a result many laboratories protected against unwanted invasion of T1 by introducing nullton A alleles into their E. coli strain collection. Even today T1 maintains its bad reputation because it remains a problem, particularly in laboratories that only casually use E. coli strains for experiments involving cloning, protein overproduction, and analysis of genomic libraries. Because of this, almost all commercially available transformation-competent E. coli cells now contain a tonA mutation. Despite the knowledge of T1-mediated calamities, many laboratories continue to work with E. coli strains that are not tonA.

Apparently, it often takes a large-scale disaster for laboratories to become believers in the incidental havoc T1 can wreak on innocent bacterial cultures. Despite its infamy, phage T1 is an interesting phage in its own right. In this chapter we consider the biology of the T1-like phages, concentrating on phage T1 and the related phage TLS.

Transfer from the Internet of information to the Internet of values based on the blochain-based trust protocol offers new opportunities for preservation and management of intellectual products. However, the advantages of blockchain-technology, e.g. distributed ledgers, absence of single point of failure, smartcontracts, etc., have not got into the focus of libraries. E-library technologies are reviewed in brief. The efforts to acquire blockchain-based decentralized information systems are described. Possible scenarios for using blockchain-technologies in the libraries of future are discussed.

Résumé :
A rabbit polyclonal antibody which was monospecific for thromboplastin (TP) apoprotein from human brain according to a number of criteria was used to screen two human placenta cDNA libraries in the expression vector λgt11, one randomly primed and one oligo-dT primed, by the method of Young and Davis. 23 positive clones expressing TP related antigen were isolated and plaque purified. DNA from the different clones was isolated and the TPcDNA inserts released by EcoRl digestion. The inserts could be classified into11 size classes ranging from approx. 300-1100 base pairs. The largest insert (1100 bp) was subcloned intothe plasmid vector pGEM-1. When the nick-translated plasmid (pTP4-l) was used as a probe to screen the phage clones by slot blot hybridization all the 23clones hybridized to the 1100 bp insert. A λgt11TP4 lysogen expressed β-galactosidase- TP4 fusion peptide upon IPTG induction as shown by immunobinging studied using two different antibodies to TP apoprotein: the rabbit antibody originally used to screen the libraries and an antibody raised in goat against human brain TP purified by affinity chromatography on a Factor VII-antiVII-agarose column.

Résumé :
The author discusses the RF policy of import substitution, in particular, the problem of abundant offers and related difficulties of software choice. The demand for Russian software has been increasing. The comparison between Russian and Eurasian software registers demonstrates that many products have the same capability, which economically can be seen as the excessiveness of offers. This affects both individual and corporate users who are discouraged choosing between similar software features. Most frequently, the choice is made between two or three most popular IT-products. The Russian software register embraces quite a few software products for the libraries, sometimes with analogous capabilities. However, in this case, the excessiveness of choice is out of the question because the library software, unlike other categories, have been being developed by Russian companies adapted to the national environment, RF laws and Russia’s librarianship traditions, therefore every Russian software program has got its target market and user pool. The author expects that many software products would not be able to compete, and the market of library software products will stay with no significant change. However, to keep competitive, software products for Russian OS or independent from installed OS have to be designed. Résumé :
A rabbit polyclonal antibody which was monospecific for thromboplastin (TP) apoprotein from human brain according to a number of criteria was used to screen two human placenta cDNA libraries in the expression vector Agtll, one randomly primed and one oligo-dT primed, by the method of Young and Davis. A XgtllTP4 lysogen expressed B-galactosidase- TP4 fusion peptide upon IPTG induction as shown by immunobinging studied using two different antibodies to TP apoprotein: the rabbit antibody originally used to screen the libraries and an antibody raised in goat against human brain TP purified by affinity chromatography on a Factor Vll-antiVII-agarose column.Cytokines mediate many of the cellular interactions in the inflammatory and immune response systems and have a variety of actions. We have investigated the effect of rIL-1a/$,rIL-2, rlFNa/y and rTNFa on thromboplastin synthesis (TPL) in monocytes (M) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). Recombinant IL- 1a and IL-16 both induced a dose dependent increase in TPL activity of monocyte (8-fold) and HUVEC cultures (15-fold) at 6h. The increase levelled off at interleukinconcentrations of 50-100u/ml. Recombinant IL-2 at 50u/ml induced a 5-fold rise in monocytes TPL. The effect of rIL-2 on HUVEC TPL synthesis at 6 h was smaller than on monocytes but still clearly significant at dose dependent. Recombinant IFN-Y (10 -10 u/ml) increased.TPL activity in HUVEC at 6h and 16 h in adose dependent manner, whereas no effect of rIFN-Y and IFN-a (1-10 u/ml) on M TPL was seen. When LPS (5pg/ml) was used to induce TPL synthesis, additional stimulation with rIFN-Y further enhanced HUVEC TPL activity, but decreased M TPL activity. Recombinant IFNa also decreased LPS induced TPL synthesis in M andhad no effect on HUVEC TPL. Recombinant TNFa (0.3x104u/ml) increased HUVEC TPL 7-fold at 6h. There wasno effect on M TPL synthesis. No endotoxin was detected in any of these preparations. CONCLUSIONS: Some biological response modifiers induced thromboplastin synthesis in monocytes (IL-ia, IL-13, IL-2) and in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (IL-ia, IL-18, IL-2, TNFa and IFNY). Some had no direct effect on TPL synthesis but inhibited the response to monocytes to other thromboplastin-inducing agents like LPS (IFNa and IFNY).
