Résumé :
The article analyzes Derzhavin’s poem Glimpse [Problesk] (1810, ed. 1816), which is mistakenly considered a translation from L. Kosegarten, and proves that this is an original work. Only the first and last stanzas of it (5 out of 14) have partial correspondences in Kosegarten’s poem Aussicht, which deals with posthumous retribution for earthly suffering, the bliss of eternal life that awaits the one who does not completely lose faith in it. Derzhavin, in contrast to Kosegarten, who proceeds from the doctrine ‘sola fide’, writes about his deeds, for which he deserves heavenly bliss. The central stanzas in Glimpse are autobiographical, they contain an apology for Derzhavin’s life, especially his official activities. He applies the Gospel Beatitudes to himself in order (Mt 5:3-11), dedicating a separate stanza to each, and proves that he has fulfilled them (everywhere using the implicative construction ‘if ... then ...’) and deserves ‘eternal blessings’. The article comments on all these stanzas, notes correspondence with other texts of Derzhavin, including his memoir and business prose, hints at the political circumstances of 1810, when, while on Zvanka, he created a cycle of spiritual poems, which began with Hope, and finished with Glimps (the Beatitudes refer specifically to Hope as one of the three Christian virtues: Faith, Hope and Love). In two of those stanzas that have a correspondence with Kozegarten, Derzhavin also refers to his literary work. Glimpse is among such his poems as Monument (1795), My Idol (1794), Swan (1804), etc., where Derzhavin speaks of his rights to ‘immortality’ and the gratitude of posterity, and should be considered in this series as well.

Résumé :
The history of the Soviet Yiddish State Theater (Gosudarstvennyi evreiskii teatr, or Goset) provides an illuminating glimpse into the life of Jewish entertainers and the position of Yiddish culture in the Soviet Union during the 1920s. While Solomon Mikhoels, the theater's star actor and director from 1929 until 1949, is well known for his role in chairing the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee during World War II, and for becoming the first victim of Stalin's anti-Semitic purges with his 1948 execution, little research has been conducted on the theater to which he dedicated his life. Art and theater historians have evaluated the theater's aesthetic approach to selected productions, and Mikhoels's contemporaries have provided anecdotal glimpses into that artist's life by writing biographies of him, but there has not yet been an attempt to assess the theater's relationship to the state during its heyday or to place the theater within the context of Soviet culture of the 1920s.

Résumé :
As interest grows in examining women's lives and writings in colonial Latin America, the autobiographical accounts written by scores of nuns during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries have been undergoing a reevaluation by historians and literary critics alike. Studies of the literary production and the circumstances surrounding the life of the most famous nun of the period, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1651-1695), have long been in vogue, but writings by her contemporaries have only recently caught the attention of many scholars. These colonial documents illustrate a well-established feminine literary tradition and reveal the female experience with religious institutions and spirituality: the appeal of the religious life for many women, the roles they played in the convent, and the relationships among nuns, confessors, and other members of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Less frequently, autobiographical accounts include significant details about the author's life before taking the veil. Although rare, such manuscripts provide information on the makeup of upper-class creole households and the roles of women in the family that helps fill the gaps in knowledge about women's daily lives in Latin America. The focus of this article is the first volume written by an Augustinian Recollect nun describing her secular life on an agricultural farm (hacienda de labor) from 1656 to 1687.

Résumé :
Astrology is an advanced and glamorous science, which plays a major role in predicting different events that happen in human life. It consists of scientific and analytical computations that depend on various phases of the orbital movements in the form of degrees; the précised level of planet movements can predict the cosmic energy and also articulate the accurate interpretations of horoscope information on the basis of a constellation of a given birth chart. Way back in 200 BC, an astronomer has adopted Mathematical interventions to measure the distance of planets from the sun and predicted various astrological manifestations. Nowadays, at the global platform, a very few numbers of research articles described the Mathematical and Pragmatic approach of astrological predictions. In this paradigm, we have formulated an advanced Stochastic Probability Convergence predictive model to describe the practical interventions and different features of horoscope and advancement of cosmic energy on the basis of comprehensive phenomena. This formulated model will be highly useful for astrologers to forecast the cosmic energy and different malafacies of human life on a day-to-day basis. Our formulated predictive model is handy and also capable to produce the accurate predictions of horoscopes. Based on the model convergence outputs, the Astronomers drew the real astrological interpretations scientifically without any Jargon and personal assumptions.

Résumé :
The article raises the question of whether the question of human transformation was raised at the time of the entry of European civilization on the technogenic path of development and its transition to the modern era. We are talking about a short period of time (XVI century) and limited geographical space (Iberian Peninsula) in this spatio-temporal interval, you can find the actual and textual confirmation of the beginning of such a transition. The work, which is discussed in more detail – “New philosophy of nature man, not known and not reached by the great ancient philosophers, which improves human life and health. Compiled by Dona Oliva Sabuco” (1587). Her basic idea: on the physical condition, health and life expectancy of a person can be influenced if you study and understand how it is influenced by the inherent his passions, emotions. It is shown that the study of philosophical and medical texts the past allows you to find the points of transition to a new civilizational dominant, the central category that invariably remains “human”, earlier than in others areas of knowledge. It is in them that numerous intersection points are found: daily care of a person the search for true scientific knowledge about his anatomy and physiology and care for his moral and spiritual condition, upbringing and education subsequent generations and even the possibility of existence after death.

Résumé :
Among her more than 400 books, Jane Yolen (b. 1939) has written or edited around 50 collections of poetry. In this new interview, Yolen discusses how her poetry developed throughout her writing life. We talk about her early desire in childhood to write poetry and about poets whose work she has admired. Yolen talks about her process in writing works such as the verse novel Finding Baba Yaga (2018) or the agonizing Radiation Sonnets (2003) and explains the difference between writing poetry for children and grown-ups, using her How Do Dinosaurs…? (2000–ongoing) series and Yuck, You Suck! Poems about Animals that Sip, Slurp, Suck (2022) as examples. She gives advice to teachers and suggestions to the poetically perplexed, as well as telling stories about encountering W. B. Yeats and reciting poetry to a wombat. Yolen’s poetic oeuvre is by turns whimsical and heart-wrenching, lyrical and conversational. She writes with a demotic lyricism that balances the formal requirements of prosody against the musicality of everyday speech. Her poetry begins from keen observation of everyday life and translates it into the mythic and the elemental, her words creating images that haunt the readers’ imaginations. What emerges is a glimpse of poetic truth—or, perhaps, the glimpse of the way to catch a glimpse.

Building on laboratory- and survey-based research probing the psychology of ideology and the experience of worldview conflict, we examined the association between worldview conflict and emotional reactions, psychological well-being, humanity esteem, and political ideology in everyday life using experience sampling. In three combined samples (total N = 328), experiencing disagreement compared to agreement was associated with experiencing more other-condemning emotions, less well-being, and less humanity esteem. There were no clear associations between experiencing disagreement and experiencing self-conscious emotions, positive emotions, and mental stress. None of the relationships were moderated by political ideology. These results both replicate and challenge findings from laboratory- and survey-based research, and we discuss possible reasons for the discrepancies. Experience sampling methods can help researchers get a glimpse into everyday worldview conflict.

Résumé :
Since the first British production of Anton Chekhov's play The Seagull in 1909, audiences have found the Russian's plays both beguiling and frustrating in seemingly equal measure. After living in Britain some years, Russian translator Elisaveta Fen began to recognize the problem: These plays are tragi-comedies: they are the stuff life is made of. They do not fit into any conventional category. Awkwardly presented, they can disappoint, baffle, irritate, or they can cast their spell over the spectator and make him feel he is watching real people, living real lives—on the stage.

Résumé :
Using the Nobel Prize as a prism through which to view the life and literature of a difficult-to-define artist, this article argues that Dylan’s output is one in which life and literature become, and have always been, indistinguishable. It is the life which has made the literature, through years lived in a particular niche of 1960s counter-cultural history; the lyrics gave voice to a man who was never at ease in the formalities of interview. For a supposed spokesman of a generation Dylan spoke very little except through his songs. So too in the more difficult-to-define later decades, little of his life was spoken of except through song, and some samplings of autobiography. Detailing the historically distinctive features of the Nobel Prize, the article shows how Bob Dylan has, through life and literature, broken down the boundaries between the literary and the popular. The article’s title is drawn, of course, from a famous line in Bob Dylan’s era-defining “Like a Rolling Stone,” one which Martin Scorsese used to title a full-length documentary on the life of Bob Dylan. Dylan here occupies the borderlands where art imitates life, and life imitates art. I argue, contrary to critical consensus, that there is a direction home. In Dylan’s lifetime of existentially staring death (political death, the death of romance) in the face, there is some glimpse of home. It is that glimpse which gives the poet’s lyrical output its endurance as literature.

Karmakar, Goutam. « A Glimpse into the antithetical poetic world of Vihang A. Naik ». Asian Journal of Social Science Studies 1, no 1 (1 mars 2016) : 59. http://dx.doi.org/10.20849/ajsss.v1i1.22.

Résumé :

Antithesis and rapidity mark the pattern inVihangA.Naik’s poems with a complete correctness that deserves an amount of considerable appreciation. He had used imagery in a vivid and descriptive language to add an inner depth to his work. As a result, it appealed to the human senses deepening the reader’s understanding of the work. He makes use of particular words that creates an emotional intensity in the reader’s mind. Antithesis is a contrast or opposition either rhetorical or philosophical and this term was cultivated especially by Pope and other eighteenth century poets. In philosophy, an antithesis is a second argument or principle brought forward which sharply contrasts ideas that are juxtaposed in a balanced or parallel phrase structure. It is a literary device to put two contrasting ideas together and this emphasizes the difference between the two ideas and adds an interest to writing. His poetic world consists of antithetical statements that have been part of our everyday speech and are profoundly employed in the arguments and discussions in his poems. He had employed it in not only sentences but also in modern society and events. This paper mainly deals on the fact upon how he had used it extensively by equally showing the good and the bad facets of city life. He occupies a distinctive position as a poet and his poems involve contemplation or absorption into spirituality in respect to modern life, much beyond the earthly vision or the worldly understanding. He reflects upon the mind that has been lost in thematerialistic pursuit of the world. His simple theme of city life is expressed with stark sincerity and his influence upon the reader is immense and builds up an emotion that compass his poetic style by introducing a new range of experiences in city life.
