Résumé :
Aiming at the problem that it is difficult to balance the speed and accuracy of human behaviour recognition, this paper proposes a method of motion recognition based on random projection. Firstly, the optical flow picture and Red, Green, Blue (RGB) picture obtained by the Lucas-Kanade algorithm are used. Secondly, the data of optical flow pictures and RGB pictures are compressed based on a random projection matrix of compressed sensing, which effectively reduces power consumption. At the same time, based on random projection compression data, it can effectively find the optimal linear representation to reconstruct training samples and test samples. Thirdly, a multichannel 3D convolutional neural network is proposed, and the multiple information extracted by the network is fused to form an output recognizer. Experimental results show that the algorithm in this paper significantly improves the recognition rate of multicategory actions and effectively reduces the computational complexity and running time of the recognition algorithm.

Résumé :
In this era, people using vehicles is getting increased day by day. As pedestrians leading a dog for a walk, or hurrying to their workplace in the morning, we’ve all experienced unsafe, fast-moving vehicles operated by inattentive drivers that nearly mow us down. Many of us live in apartment complexes or housing neighborhoods where ignorant drivers disregard safety and zoom by, going way too fast. To plan, monitor and also control these vehicles is becoming a big challenge. In the article, we have come up with a solution to the above problem using the video surveillance considering the video data from the traffic cameras. Using computer vision and deep learning technology we will be able to recognize violations of rules. This article will describe modern CV and DL methods to recognize vehicle on the road and traffic violations of rules by them. Implementation of methods can be done using OpenCV Python as a tool. Our proposed solution can recognize vehicles, track their speed and help in counting the objects precisely.

Résumé :
This study aims to determine the development of a picture and picture learning model for locomotor motion material for fifth grade students at SD Negeri 060890. The research method used by researchers is the Research and Development method. Research and development (R&D) is a basic research activity to obtain information on user needs (needs assessment), then proceed with development activities to produce products and examine the effectiveness of these products (Sugiyono, 2014). Based on the table presented on the previous page, it can be seen that the total score achieved by the teacher in learning through locomotor motion using the picture and picture model with media images at meetings is 35 with Enough criteria. It can be seen in the table, at the meeting that the teacher's skills have not achieved success according to the indicators set. Therefore, at the next meeting the researcher must be able to carry out improvements in learning using poetry writing strategies using picture and picture models with picture media. An effective way for students to avoid pressure is by playing rock-paper-scissors or throwing the ball while singing the rabbit and when the ball stops, it comes forward to show pictures and imitate its movements. After that, the exploration stage. At this stage the teacher forms a discussion group to discuss locomotor movements based on the images shown. The teacher forms this group to make it interesting. In his creations, groups can be made with animal names. And the group imitated the movement based on the animal's name. Next, the teacher provides a learning evaluation. The teacher calls students one by one to imitate what the teacher shows in the picture. Finally, teachers and students reflect on learning. This activity is to get students' responses to the material that has been implemented.

The Motion Picture Mind Reading (MPMR) Test is a novel naturalistic mind-reading task, designed to measure individual differences in a young adult population in Japan. Short scenes from TV films showing characters in social situations were presented to 128 university students; participants judged the mental state of a character in these films. The distribution of task performance (MPMR Test) of participants was approximately normal and its psychometric properties were found to be satisfactory. The MPMR Test scores correlated positively with those of the Eyes Test and also with scores on the empathy quotient (EQ); they correlated negatively with scores on the systemizing quotient (SQ). The MPMR Test provides a further method for assessing subtle individual differences in mind-reading ability in the general population.

An optional spatial 3D material solid reality picture may be showed on a 2D showing plane, its surface is commonly consisted of too many sub-surfaces of the 3D solid reality picture in both dispersal and continuation. It was a difficult problem to express all exact visibilities of solids sub-surfaces; because of some numerals computational error properties of visibilities are always unknown. So far, we cannot choose but select a proper dispersal degree of materials sub-surfaces, an approaching function of an optional material sub-surfaces B-Rep (Bound Representation), and numerals computation without any perturbation motion, etc. A novel numeral computational method of expressing exact visibilities of 3D spatial materials solids reality pictures with intelligent properties of VCR is given in this paper.

Résumé :
Methods of assessing presence, a sense of ‘being there’ within a displayed virtual environment, include post-test subjective measures, discrimination tests, and monitoring reflexive responses. Each is limited—either they do not provide a measure of temporal variation, are not feasible with current display technology or are overly content-specific. A measure of presence derived from the method of continuous evaluation (ITU-R, Recommendation BT.500-7, revised, “Methodology for the subjective assessment of the quality of television pictures”, 1995) has been used to overcome these limitations. The results of two experiments are presented. Those of the first experiment established that the methodology is usable under the optimal viewing conditions for the 20 inch stereoscopic TV display upon which our stimuli were presented. It compares within-subject variation on continuous TV picture quality ratings under two viewing conditions—at six picture heights in the light (standard for quality evaluations) and at two picture heights in the dark (optimal stereo TV viewing). The second experiment investigated the effects of manipulations of the visual parameters of stereo, scene motion, and observer-based motion on participants' presence evaluations within edited sections of a stereoscopic film. The results provide support for theories predicting that the extent of sensory information available to a participant is one of the factors determining presence.

When an image is blurred using a Gaussian function, the result is a Gaussian blur. The employment of different sparse priors, either for the implicit photos or the motion blur kernels, contributes to the success of contemporary single-image approaches. De-blurring is the technique of taking out blurring flaws of the steady photographs, including motion or defocus aberration-related blur. The apparent flashing of quickly moving item in a static photograph is known as motion blur. When a picture is blurred utilizing a Gaussian function, the result is a Gaussian blur. The employment of different sparse priors, either for the latent photos or the motion blur kernels, contributes to the success of contemporary single-image approaches. On digital datasets, KSR also discovers effective kernel matrix approximation to hasten blurring and provide effective de-blur performances. The licence plate, which serves as the vehicle's distinctive identifier, is an important indicator of speeding or hit-and-run cars. However, the image of a fast-moving car taken by a security camera is usually blurred and not even humanly discernible. These observed plate pictures are frequently poor resolution and have significant edge information lost, which presents a significant challenge to the current blind deblurring techniques. The blur kernel may be thought of as a linear uniform convolution and parametrically modelled with angle and length for licence plate picture blurring brought on by rapid movement. This research suggests unique technique for locating the blur kernel based on sparse representation. We determine the angle of the kernel by looking at the sparse representation coefficients of the restored picture because the retrieved photo has the highest sparse representation when the kernel angle coincides with the real motion angle. Afterwards, using Radon transform in Fourier domain, we estimate the size of the motion kernel. Even when the licence plate is impossible for a person to read, our system handles big motion blur rather effectively. We assess our method using actual photographs and contrast it with a number of well-known cutting-edge blind image deblurring techniques. Experimental findings show that our suggested technique is superior in terms of efficiency and resilience.

Résumé :
The second law of thermodynamics is a powerful imperative that has acquired several expressions during the past centuries. Connections between two of its most prominent forms, i.e. the evolutionary principle by natural selection and the principle of least action, are examined. Although no fundamentally new findings are provided, it is illuminating to see how the two principles rationalizing natural motions reconcile to one law. The second law, when written as a differential equation of motion, describes evolution along the steepest descents in energy and, when it is given in its integral form, the motion is pictured to take place along the shortest paths in energy. In general, evolution is a non-Euclidian energy density landscape in flattening motion.

Such a structure can be achieved starting from generic bilinear Hamiltonians, constructed by covariant vector, bivector or tensor fields. This feature is gage-free and it realizes a deep link toward canonical quantization for interactions like electromagnetism, gravity and Dirac fields.

Résumé :
Abstract Volvox cells normally construct a spherical colony of hundred of cells and moving together to perform their basic needs. More than moving a single colony, two attached volvox colonies can ‘dance’ and move together. This system can be modeled as a two-body system, where its center of mass (COM) is performing simple translational (TRAN) motion, while the two colonies center is rotating around the COM with roll (ROLL) or spin (SPIN) motions. From the available observation video, about 10 s or 325 frames can be isolatedfor Sobel edge detection to get a clear picture of the dancing motion of two volvox colonies. It has been observed that the dancing volvox has a superposition motion of the other motion (TRAN, ROLL, SPIN), which has been compared qualitatively with the simple mechanics model of the two-body system. From the model, the translational velocityis about 1.25 m/s, and its roll and spin angular velocity are about 0.785 and 3.063 rad/s, respectively. The results of the study concluded that the mode of motion of the two Volvox colonies was a combination of spin and translational motion.

Résumé :
The Hipparcos parallaxes and proper motions together provide a consistent picture of the Hyades distance, structure and dynamics. They yield a cluster convergent point motion consistent with the individual trigonometric parallaxes, and together explain the large distance modulus derived from the most recent ground-based proper motion investigations as originating from differences in the space velocity and small systematic effects in the ground-based proper motions. Conversely, the smaller distance modulus generally derived from a variety of ground-based trigonometric parallax programmes originates from systematically larger values of the ground-based parallaxes. Although recent distance determinations to individual objects in the cluster, most notably the results of Torres et al. (1997a, b, c), are in excellent agreement with the Hipparcos trigonometric parallaxes, extrapolation to a mean cluster distance is again affected by systematic effects in the ground-based proper motion studies. The combination of the Hipparcos astrometry with radial velocity measurements from ground-based programmes provides three-dimensional velocities allowing candidate membership selection to be based on 3-dimensional positional and kinematical criteria. A number of new cluster members have been found within 20 pc of the cluster centre. No evidence for systematic internal velocity structure is found; rather, the results are fully consistent with auniform cluster space motion with an internal velocity dispersion of about 0.3 km s-1. Spatial distribution, mass segregation, and binary distributions are consistent with N-body simulations.

Résumé :
The surface electromyography (sEMG) signal is widely used as a control source of the upper limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot. However, the traditional way of controlling the exoskeleton robot by the sEMG signal requires one to specially extract and calculate for complex sEMG features. Moreover, due to the huge amount of calculation and individualized difference, the real-time control of the exoskeleton robot cannot be realized. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel method using an improved detection algorithm to recognize limb joint motion and detect joint angle based on sEMG images, aiming to obtain a high-security and fast-processing action recognition strategy. In this paper, MobileNetV2 combined the Ghost module as the feature extraction network to obtain the pretraining model. Then, the target detection network Yolo-V4 was used to estimate the six movement categories of the upper limb joints and to predict the joint movement angles. The experimental results showed that the proposed motion recognition methods were available. Every 100 pictures can be accurately identified in approximately 78 pictures, and the processing speed of every single picture on the PC side was 17.97 ms. For the train data, the mAP@0.5 could reach 82.3%, and mAP@0.5–0.95 could reach 0.42; for the verification data, the average recognition accuracy could reach 80.7%.

Résumé :
Recently, the use of different social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp have increased significantly. A vast number of static images and motion frame pictures posted on such platforms get stored in the device folder making it critical to identify the social network of the downloaded images in the android domain. This is a multimedia forensic job with major cyber security consequences and is said to be accomplished using unique traces contained in picture material (SNs). Therefore, this proposal has been endeavoured to construct a new framework called FusionNet to combine two well-established single shared Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to accelerate the search. Moreover, the FusionNet has been found to improve classification accuracy. Image searching is one of the challenging issues in the android domain besides being a time-consuming process. The goal of the proposed network's architecture and training is to enhance the forensic information included in the digital pictures shared on social media. Furthermore, several network designs for the categorization of WhatsApp pictures have been compared and this suggested method has shown better performance in the comparison. The proposed framework's overall performance was measured using the performance metrics.

Ab initio molecular dynamics combines a classical description of nuclear motion with a density-functional description of the electronic cloud. This approach nicely describes chemical reactions. A possible conclusion is that a quantum mechanical description of nuclear motion is not needed. Using Occam’s razor, this means that, being the simpler approach, classical nuclear motion is preferable. In this paper, it is claimed that nuclear motion is classical, and this hypothesis will be tested in comparison to methods with quantum mechanical nuclear motion. In particular, we apply ab initio molecular dynamics to two photoreactions involving hydrogen. Hydrogen, as the lightest element, is often assumed to show quantum mechanical tunneling. We will see that the classical picture is fully sufficient. The quantum mechanical view leads to phenomena that are difficult to understand, such as the entanglement of nuclear motion. In contrast, it is easy to understand the simple classical picture which assumes that nuclear motion is steady and uniform unless a force is acting. Of course, such a hypothesis must be verified for many systems and phenomena, and this paper is one more step in this direction.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate temporal tweet patterns and their effectiveness in predicting the financial performance of a movie. Specifically, how tweet patterns are formed prior to and after a movie’s release and their usefulness in predicting a movie’s success is explored. Design/methodology/approach Volume was measured and sentiment analysis was performed on a sample of Tweets posted four days before and after the release of 86 movies. The temporal pattern of tweeting for financially successful movies was compared with those that were financial disappointments. Using temporal tweet patterns, a number of machine learning models were developed and their predictive performance was compared. Findings Results show that the temporal patterns of tweet volume, length and sentiment differ between “hits” and “busts” in the days surrounding their releases. Compared with “busts” the tweet pattern for “hits” reveal higher volume, shorter length, and more favourable sentiment. Discriminant patterns in social media features occur days in advance of a movie’s release and can be used to develop models for predicting a movie’s success. Originality/value Analysis of temporal tweet patterns and their usefulness in predicting box office returns is the main contribution of this research. Results of this research could lead to development of analytical tools allowing motion picture studios to accurately predict and possibly influence the opening night box-office receipts prior to the release of the movie. Also, the specific temporal tweet patterns presented by this work may be applied to problems in other areas of research.

Résumé :
In this paper, different aspects of the concept of spin are studied. The most well-established one is, of course, the quantum mechanical aspect: spin is a broken symmetry in the sense that the solutions of the Dirac equation tend to have directional properties that cannot be seen in the equation itself. It has been clear since the early days of quantum mechanics that this has something to do with the indefinite metric in Lorentz geometry, but the mechanism behind this connection is elusive. Although spin is not the same as rotation in the usual sense, there must certainly be a close relationship between these concepts. And, a possible way to investigate this connection is to instead start from the underlying geometry in general relativity. Is there a reason why rotating motion in Lorentz geometry should be more natural than non-rotating motion? In a certain sense, the answer turns out to be yes. But, it is by no means easy to see what this should correspond to in the usual quantum mechanical picture. On the other hand, it seems very unlikely that the similarities should be just coincidental. The interpretation of the author is that this can be a golden opportunity to investigate the interplay between these two theories.

Résumé :
AbstractThe following article is based on a presentation given as part of Symposium X—Frontiers of Materials Research on December 4, 2002, at the 2002 Materials Research Society Fall Meeting. The cinema is just over 100 years old. From the beginning of motion pictures in the mid-1890s, the materials used for films have been at the heart of cinema technology. The material first used was cellulose nitrate film—unrivaled in its mechanical, physical, and aesthetic qualities, and also dangerously flammable. In the 1950s, cellulose nitrate was replaced, for safety reasons, by cellulose triacetate. Today, polyester film is widely used; nevertheless, the fact remains that the majority of the world's film heritage exists on two main material formats, cellulose nitrate and cellulose triacetate, both of which decay over time. Film archivists are engaged in a race to save historic film footage from being lost forever. Digital technology, now widely used in cinema, does not resolve the issue of the long-term preservation of films because digital formats are still evolving. This article discusses the materials used in motion-picture technology over the years, the mechanisms active in film decomposition, and international efforts to preserve and restore historic films.

Résumé :
The laws of physics explain many human misperceptions of whole-body passive self-motion. One classic misperception occurs in a rotating chair in the dark: If the chair is decelerated to a stop after a period of counterclockwise rotation, then a subject will typically perceive clockwise rotation. The laws of physics show that, indeed, a clockwise rotation would be perceived even by a perfect processor of angular acceleration information, assuming that the processor is initialized (prior to the deceleration) with a typical subject's initial perception – of no rotation in this case. The motion perceived by a perfect acceleration processor serves as a baseline by which to judge human self-motion perception; this baseline makes a rough prediction and also forms a basis for comparison, with uniquely physiological properties of perception showing up as deviations from the baseline. These same principles, using the motion perceived by a perfect acceleration processor as a baseline, are used in the present paper to investigate complex motions that involve simultaneous linear and angular accelerations with a changing axis of rotation. Baselines – motions that would be perceived by a perfect acceleration processor, given the same initial perception (prior to the motion of interest) as that of a typical subject – are computed for the acceleration and deceleration stages of centrifuge runs in which the human carriage tilts along with the vector resultant of the centripetal and gravity vectors. The computations generate a three-dimensional picture of the motion perceived by a perfect acceleration processor, by simultaneously using all six interacting degrees of freedom (three angular and three linear) and taking into account the non-commutativity of rotations in three dimensions. The resulting three-dimensional baselines predict stronger perceptual effects during deceleration than during acceleration, despite the equal magnitudes (with opposite direction) of forces on the subject during acceleration and deceleration. For a centrifuge run with the subject facing tangentially in the direction of motion, the deceleration baseline shows a perception of forward tumble (pitch rotation) beginning with ascent from the earth, while the acceleration baseline does not have analogous pitch and vertical motion. These results give a three-dimensional explanation for certain puzzling acceleration-deceleration perceptual differences observed experimentally by Guedry, Rupert, McGrath, and Oman (Journal of Vestibular Research, 1992 (2).). The present analysis is consistent with, and expands upon, previous analyses of individual components of motion.
