Texte intégralIn an international context marked by an increasingly generalized economic and cultural globalization, by competition playing out on a global scale and by a form of growth obligation for the markets, the internationalization of business has become a priority and a challenge for firms that have the potential, the obligation and the will to have access outside their continental territories. In this context, we can observe the increase in bilateral trade between France and China in recent years. French firms are seeking to develop the Chinese market - a market of 1.375 billion consumers and considered to be promising. At the same time, Chinese firms are investing in France and establishing themselves on the European market. My thesis targeted a category of these companies - French transnational companies - to study their strategies for expansion towards China. Indeed, we can see in China the dynamism of a large number of French transnational companies which are present in various fields of activity. These expansion strategies developed by these transnational firms contribute significantly to the growth of an economy that has become globalized. In addition, they can serve as development models for large companies and SMEs that are willing to go international and who are looking for experienced means and methods to accelerate their internationalization. This thesis consists of documenting these strategies adopted by these French transnational companies from both a practical and a theoretical point of view, and identifying the way in which they are structured by adapting to the local environment which represents a large number of economic, societal, cultural and legislative specificities

Texte intégralIn order to improve the « effectiveness » of building construction firms, we have studied the « new types of rationalisation of production » in France and in Brazil. For us, effectiveness is the capacity of the firm to hold constant or even to increase its level of activities. Efficiency is the firm’s capacity of performance through the entire « production process ». One of the results of this research is the construction of a special procedure that allows us to identify and to characterise the « main factors of effectiveness » that are at play in competition between firms in both countries. Thereby, the procedure allows us to identify and to analyse the « new types of rationalisation of production » that firms put into practice in order to be efficient in this competition. The investigation described in this thesis centers around the strategies of the firms, especially the « generic competitive strategies » developed by PORTER. To survive, the firm must win the competition by producing « better » or by producing « cheaper ». Our main thesis is that building construction firm’s « effectiveness », nowadays, is closely associated with the gains in « efficienty » achieved by the application of technical and economic approaches. Savings are obtained by improving the phases of the « production process » in general of the phases of « production system » in particular. These improvements are articulated by mans of the « processes », sets of activities that are put together in a coherent way, that lead to a real gain in the value of the building-product. These « processes » are put into practice through tools and methods used by the organization and the management. They concern both local and transversal aspects, that act both on the struture of the building construction firm and on the other actors of the building industry. All actors must question their roles, their strategies, the form of their organization and managemet, and either their relationship of their collaborations with the other actors. The survival and the prosperity of each actor and the industry depends on of all these issues. This new competitive stakes of the building market represent the occasion of rethinking the construction firm’s policies in regards to « effectiveness ». In this respect, even countries like Brazil, where commercial « efficiency » and financial « effectiveness » has always commanded over technical « effectiveness », are concerned

Texte intégralWe study the effect of CEO psychological characteristics on firm performance in three papers. We first consider the theoretical background to work in behavioral corporate finance in a conceptual paper analyzing hubris and related psychological concepts. In this paper we put forward ideas for future research, some of which we implement subsequent papers. In paper 2, we study the effect of acquirer and target CEO narcissism on the private aspects of the takeover process in a sample of US M&A deals. We find that higher levels of acquirer CEO narcissism are associated with a higher probability of deal initiation by the acquirer and with a shorter length of time between deal initiation and announcement. Concerning value effects, our results suggest that higher levels of target CEO narcissism are positively related to bid premium and negatively related to acquirer cumulative abnormal returns. In addition, the difference between acquirer and target CEO narcissism is a significant factor in explaining the different aspects of the takeover process. In the third paper, we analyze the effect of CEO authentic leadership on the market and operating performance of a sample of listed French firms. We collect data on CEO authentic leadership using questionnaires. We analyze the difference in performance of firms sorted into three portfolios according to the level of CEO authentic leadership using a Fama French three factor analysis. We fail to find a significant relationship between CEO authentic leadership and market performance. In the operating performance analyses, we find a positive association between CEO authentic leadership and ROA
Setti, Andrea. « Science-Based firm performance and growth ». Thesis, Lyon, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019LYSE3030.
Texte intégralThis thesis proposes a theoretical and empirical framework on growth and development and offers elements and tools necessary to improve the understanding of the growth dynamics of SBFs. Throughout this thesis, emphasis has been placed on the study of SBFs dynamics related to their performances and growth. Prior further investigation, through the analysis of the main taxonomical contributions, a comprehensive definition of Science-Based Firms (SBFs) is formulated which incorporates the consideration that these ventures seek the application of scientific knowledge and technological skills to commercialize products at the core of their activities. Applying the above mentioned definition, a first study was performed with the double objective to provide an updated, state-of-the-art picture of the SBFs and to critically examine the adoption of SBFs’ performance determinants in order to be able to better comprehend the way in which SBFs’ performances have been approached and suggest future directions in terms of focus of studies and methodological approaches. Results show that studies concentrate on firm-specific dimensions succeeding in some situations to explain SBFs’ performances and in many other cases contradicting results emerged. In general, in the investigation, was outlined how the study of SBFs’ performances, is still widely underdeveloped and indicators related to innovation capabilities and knowledge management such as innovation developments, technology development or knowledge transfer, seem more appropriate to infer the peculiarity of these firms. Moreover, from the findings emerged the necessity to adopt a holistic approach considering broader dimensions proposed for example by ecosystem theories. Following a holistic methodology, an explorative study was conducted in the area of Lyon, France, adopting the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (EE) approach. Thanks to the retrospectivity adopted, in this study was possible to underline the relationships underpinning between the elements of the ecosystem and New Science-Based Firms (NSBFs). Findings show that institutions coordinated and focused on the main capabilities and excellence of the area make an extraordinary contribution to the establishing of new companies. In general results show that the EE can be a consistent theoretical construct, especially during the first stage of NSBF’s development. However, looking at the whole process of SBF creation, three elements stand out: government, university and investors, incorporating the lineages of the so-called triple-helix approach applied in most modern knowledge-based societies. The area of Lyon represents a successful application of this model, opening the debate on the analysis that at first, to understand SBFs’ dynamics, a macro look at the institutional configuration is needed. For the previous reasons, the focus of the investigation shift from micro and meso level to macro level in the third investigation. The last step of the dissertation research focused its attention on the Italian triple-helix model for the science-based industry. Collecting interviews among the most representative Italian institutions supporting SBFs and collecting precious insights among Italian SBFs, both established and nascent, a comprehensive understanding on “what went wrong” situation is shown providing insights into the relationship dynamics that did not occur to make the innovation system work efficiently. Moreover, possible streams for future researches and suggestion for policy makers are provided. In general, this dissertation provided advancements for the understanding of SBFs’ growth dynamics providing fresh insights for academics and policy makers in designing future studies and policies

Texte intégralThis thesis analyses the emergency of the French \"social psychology\" in the last decade of the XIXth century, particularly through the work of its most renewed authors, Gabriel Tarde (1843-1904) and Gustave Le Bon (1841-1931), but also through the work of authors who, belonging to the same network, had with them intellectual, social and theoretical identities. I suppose that the study of a theme, even if it is not institucionalized, as it is the case in \"social psychology\", has to be based on the structure of the French intellectual field, which means, from the process of autonomization and profissionalization starting in the 80ies. This implies that, in the disciplinary field, there is a main polarization between the university positions and the \"free\" positions, the last ones fighting for chairs and carreers at the university. The \"social psychology\" is one of those subjects that had legitimity limited to a determined group and period of the history of the field, that means, is a typical subject of intellectual dominated positions, non universitarian, and whose purpose was to win positions against durkheimian sociology. Considering the undefined character of these disciplines, I call \"social sciences\" the battles between the new disciplines - economy, psychology and sociology - and between them and the old and institucionalized ones - history and philosophy - and I identify two main groups and practices in the \"free\" social sciences: the one who belongs to the social power and the one who belongs to the intellectual one. Besides, I show that these extra-universitarian positions correspond to strategies in the editorial field, because the editeurs, reviews and collections have aggregated the same two groups and fights. I concluded that \"social psychology\", for the reason it could not be institucionalized, had to survive in the intellectual field by constructing a public non universitarian through collections, reviews and \"free\" schools. Considering the lack of academic credencials, the surviving of these groups in the intellectual field demanded a brutal investment in social relationships. As a consequence, their representations tended to emphasize the technical function or the cultural mission in social sciences against their autonomization in the scientific field. The result is that \"social psychology\" gave too much value to the role of the elites and of the individual freedom against the crowds and the collective determinations, producing a reversed representation of the position these authors occupied in the intellectual field.

Texte intégralThe history of the seventh art has steadfastly developed throughout the last century. The multiplication of means of broadcasting pictures can be called a landmark in so far as it involves increasing demand and a more individual viewing of films. The movie theatre however remains a major mode of exploitation in spite of the three following phenomena : weaker attendance, more specific attendance and increasing american influence. Such parameters demand adaptation of the legal system to the economic data of the film market. This arrangement is twofold : the first aspect is inherent in the acknowledgement of the part played by the different partners while they purchase and hand over the right of exploitation. The second one to be taken into account lies in who the film is aimed at with a view to winning over new spectators within the nation and increasing the market

Texte intégralWhile the vast majority of musical film critics consider only the Hollywood paradigm, there are other national traditions of musical cinema, to which critics often turn a blind eye because of incompatibility with this model. Indeed, French cinema of the thirties develops, for historical, cultural and technical reasons, a wealth of musical and singing films which do not fit with the Hollywood codes of the genre and which are characterized by outstanding inventiveness and richness. The present study aims to do justice to the specificity and the diversity of this corpus, by exploring the possibility of a generic approach analogous to that which the critical doxa applies to the Hollywood musical. The first part establishes the theoretical bases for the genre of French musical film, before offering a typology of the various trends in this national musical cinematography. The second part focuses on the importance of international exchanges in these productions, particularly through the practice of creating multiple versions. The third part focuses on the contemporary reception of these films, in order to assess the importance of a generic approach in the various discourses emanating from the production companies, critics and the public. Finally, the fourth part proposes how to go beyond the generic constraints in order to tackle to the unprecedented abundance of singing productions made during the decade

Texte intégralThe aim of my thesis was to create a catalog of fiction films related to the First World War produced in Italy and France between 1914 and 2013. Methodologically, 1 worked on a variety of sources (movie collections, specialized magazines, rating and direct viewing of picture show), depending on the availability of materials which came to us. I have tried to propose an analytical investigation that also includes movies concerning the war without showing it; I am well aware my work will be certainly incomplete but it tries to be the more comprehensive possible. I have devoted a special attention to the censorious intervention exercised by the government, particularly until the early Sixties, indeed those years political censorship was very strong. In addition to the analysis of general censorship, I added that of prior one (in Italy 1945-65, in France 1945-61) and I found two similar attitudes but with different methods of intervention. Although the investigation is centered on the two countries, more importance will be given to the Italian CBSE instead of French one. The choice of comparison with France was influenced by several considerations; not least, the main point of the First World War has in both film and French public history even today. These factors have not been strange to the will to compare with the history of this country, considered as one of the most interesting. The evolution of fiction story has been put in relation with the political, cinematographic, and legislative and historiography background; I also tried to understand the film reception through two factors: the results of the box office and the opinions expressed in specialized magazines

Texte intégralFirms with geographically dispersed activities (i. E. Multi-unit firms) are major actors of the economy. Although multinational firms have been widely studied, the multi-unit firms in a national frame are seldom analysed. In spite of their weight in national economies, we know little about their overall logic and in particular their location strategies. This thesis offers a theoretical but above all an empirical analysis of this kind of organisation in the French industry. In a first step, we realised a survey of the literature on the fragmentation and multilocation of the firm. This survey highlights the factors that motivate the split up of the organisation. This work offers then a study of the spatial and organizational determinants of the fragmentation of the firm. We also study the coordination problems of multi-unit firms through the analysis of their ICT adoption and use. At last, we focus on the location strategies of multi-plant firms and their influence on the geography of industrial activities

Texte intégralThe thermal microenvironment produced during transportation from farm to the commercial slaughterhouse might be the primary cause to influence the broilers welfare consequently the final meat quality with development of breast fillet PSE (Pale, Soft, Exudative) and DFD-like (Dark, Firm, Dry) meat. The objective of this work was to investigate in the 2008 winter season (n=540) and summer season (n=650) the occurrence of PSE and DFD-like meat in an commercial abbatoir. Furthermore in both seasons the lorry thermal microenvironment was characterized in relation to temperature, relative moisture by thermologs and ventilation by thermoanemometer only in the summer. Also, the effect of watering application just before starting the transportation journey was evaluated in the summer on the meat color abnormalities. The distance run by the lorry was 15 and 57 km in the winter season and 15, 35 and 55 km in the summer season. Samples classification in PSE and DFD-like was carried ou by determining pH and color (L*, a* e b*) values on breast fillet taken 24h postmortem. The logistic regression analysis was used in order to verify in both seasons the effect of transport distance, location of birds boxes within the lorry areas (front, middle and rear) and birds? watering just before transportation. Tukey test 5.0% significance was applied for average comparison. Results showed PSE occurrence was 55.5% and 27.2% in the summer (n=650) and in the winter (n=540), respectively. DFD-like was not observed in the summer whilst in the winter season its occurrence was 0.9%. The distance of 15 and 57 km did not show any significant effect (p=0,7705) on the PSE occurrence during winter season. Also the highest PSE occurrence was observed at the lorry rear location because of highest locally temperature value. The distance of 55 km presented significatively (p=0,0002) the highest PSE occurrence of 57.0% during summer season. Also the lorry middle and rear locations promoted higher PSE occurrence because of locally higher temperature and lower ventilation. Finally, the watering application whilst in the farm was an important factor since there were approximately 7.0% less PSE occurrence in treated birds? samples.

Texte intégralDuring recent years, the French Financial system deeply evolved (deregulation, liberalization of the capital markets. . . ) Calling into question the monopolistic position of the banks and implying their share a behavior of company optimal backing (employment resources) to ensure the profitability of their marketing policy. The object of the thesis is to propose a theoretical modeling of this behavior, founded, in a first empirical part, on the analysis of the restructuration of the assessments, initially the whole of the credit banking institutions then of two leaders of the profession (BNP, credit agricole). On the basis of the theory of the financial intermediation and the great principles of the theory of portfolio, the model integrates the lesson of Anglo-Saxon work treating principal aspects of the banking strategy (Klein, Baltensperger. . . ). For his applicability with the French case, one adds the effects of the relations between central bank and commercial banks

Literature review of corporate governance is provided in chapter 1. The second chapter examines how large shareholders affect the composition of outside directors on boards of directors in French listed firms. We find that the second large shareholders tends to be related to a lower presence of independent directors, and a higher presence of affiliated directors on the board. The third chapter addresses the reciprocal interlocks between the CEOs in 245 French large corporations. The fourth chapter analyzes the effects of board composition and ownership structure on the formation of monitoring committees in French large corporations, considered as a good indicator of board effectiveness

Texte intégralThis thesis demonstrates that the influence of diversification strategy on firm's financial performance is moderated by the effect of market cycles. Two related research fields are investigated : the cyclical analysis of the relationship between diversification strategies and stock market performance of the firm, and the determination of strategic profiles. The cyclical approach of the diversification-performance relationship is based on a set of seven hypotheses, testing the strategy-cycle interaction effect, the strategy effect and the cycle effect on firm performance, respectively. The determination of profiles allows to evaluate the global strategic posture of the firm in its industrial environment. The main findings indicate that during bearish market cycles, unrelated diversifiers outperform related ones and that the lowest performance is associated with the constrained diversification. During bullish cycles, the dominant business strategy showes the highest performance and the related or unrelated nature of diversification is not a leading factor of firm's market-based performance. Moreover, unrelated diversification achieves a return higher and a risk lower than related diversification. Last, two opposite firm's profiles are identified : firms in dominant strategic posture and firms in vulnerable strategic posture. The first are characterized by a high return and a low risk, and by debt and investment capacities which allow them to be successful in favorable or not industrial segments. The others are characterized by a low return and a high risk ; their industrial environment is not a source of diversification opportunities, but rather a true pressure

Texte intégralFor nearly two decades, the firm has changed, especially with the growing importance of human capital and the movement of vertical disintegration. These evolutions raise questions about the link between the boundaries, the governance and the performance of the firm. The aim of this dissertation is to study the key elements, both theoretical and empirical, that involve a renewal of corporate governance in this changing context. First, we examine how the issue of the internal firm governance is based on the theories of the firm. Second, we advance that an alternative vision, beyond the traditional opposition between the shareholder value and the stakeholder value approaches, has to be elaborated. We develop a model of firm governance, that we call the ‘multi-resources’ model. The latter allows motivating fundamental partners to regulate the power they have on the critical resources of the firm. Third, using a typological analysis and logical expressions, we exploit the French 2004-2005 REPONSE survey to verify the hypothesis that this new model of firm governance is built on the complementary use of vertical incentives, horizontal work practices and decentralized modalities of decision-making. Finally, we test econometrically the determinants of the multi-resources model and estimate the factors that improve performance of specific human capital-intensive firms

Texte intégralInnovation has become a vital need for the firm to deal with a continuously changing environment. Evolutionary theory has emphasized the role of competences in firm analysis. Therefore, specific competences are essential for the fulfillment of firms’ innovation activities.According to evolutionary theory, internal competences are central to the firm. Though, they can be sometimes insufficient for it to innovate. Thus, innovation requires from the firm to look for complementary external competences to reinforce those existing internally.Besides the competences used in-house, competences can be acquired externally through freelancers or cooperative relationships. Basing on an evolutionary analytical framework enhanced with elements of competence-based view, the main body of this thesis analyses the behavior of French companies in terms of innovation. In other words, we seek to determine the factors increasing the innovation capacity of firms while stressing the influence of competences used in-house or acquired externally on the probability for firms to engage in innovation projects.Within this scope, we first invoke different approaches of innovation and then emphasize the importance of firm competences and its staff in addition to their participation into cooperative agreements for innovation. To finalize our interpretation, we conduct a descriptive analysis followed by a study based on the survey data of Innovation CIS 2010. The results show that the probability for firms to engage in innovation activities is affected by elements from the internal and external environment of the firm

Texte intégralDespite a total lack of concertation between their various creators and without discussion of an existing genre, La Maman et la Putain (1973, Jean Eustache), Je tu il elle (1974, Chantal Akerman), Numéro Deux (1975, Jean-Luc Godard et Anne-Marie Miéville), La Dernière Femme (1976, Marco Ferreri), Anatomie d'un rapport (1976, Luc Moullet et Antonietta Pizzorno) et Une vraie jeune fille (1976, Catherine Breillat) are six french language films shot between 1972 and 1976 using a common set of esthetic characteristics. The valorisation of their pornographic inspirations, a dialogue laden sound track devoid of screaming and music, the esthetic integration of the feminist movement and the patent refusal of eroticism (along with the feeling of lust intended to be derived from the representation of sexuality) allow these six films to be termed « sexual films». This neologism was first used by Luc Mullet in 1969 to define a new way of representing sexuality. The thesis focuses on a much maligned decade in French cinema, the 1970’s, at a time when the explosion of pornographic production, the notions of the representation of sexuality propagated by the film makers (writers/directors/actors) and the poetry of each of the six films add a level of complexity rarely witnessed within traditional representations of sexuality (pornography and eroticism) prior to this point

Texte intégralThis thesis empirically analyzes the risk taking and hedging behaviors of 45 French listed non-financial firms over the period 2004 to 2009 using a unique hand collected panel data. The thesis consists of three empirical studies. The first study analyzes French firms’ risk taking behavior induced by CEO risk incentives. We evidence that, CEOs whose wealth portfolios consist more of options than shares and are more sensitive to stock return volatility will chose riskier financial and investment policies such as riskier R&D vs. Capital expenditures, increased firm focus vs. Diversification, higher debt ratios with shorter maturities and lower dividend payouts. The second study analyzes French firms’ foreign exchange risk hedging. We find that firms hedge their FC exposures and the hedging behavior is more visible when exposures are calculated over longer horizons. We observe that firms respond differently to negative and positive exposures and that the use of derivative vs. Non derivative hedging and its level is related to sudden and huge fluctuations in exchange rate. The third study focuses on French firms’ default risk hedging. We evidence a non-monotonic hedging behavior where the shareholders engage in hedging even ex-post of debt issue but when the level of debt and default risk becomes very high they lose the incentive to hedge

Texte intégralThe aim of this thesis is two folds: first of all, we try to explain the cinematic consumption by analysing the relationship of individual characteristics with the cinematographic consumption frequency and the cinematographic tastes. Secondly, we try to define and measure the word-of-mouth effect. The first chapter instead of problematic put problem of the movie-makinq industry. We present the cinematographic channel relationships and the position of the different contributors within these channels. Then, we explain the opposition between a national and a private approach of the cinematic consumption. Finally, we introduce the spectator behaviour analysis in reference to the relationship between spectators and movies. The second chapter presents a conceptual framework which is introduced, in reference to the movie, the economic, social and symbolic dimensions of the cinematographic consumption. Aim is to identify, in the field of the marketing, some individual variables which may help us to analyse the spectator behaviour. We try also to define the word-of-mouth effect in reference to interpersonal relationships concept. The third chapter develops a double model: the first one describes the cinematographic consumption behaviour and the second on the word-of-mouth effect. In reference to these models we formulate hypothesis on the relationship between our variables. We present also the methodology of our study. The last chapter presents the results. First of all, we analyse the validity and fidelity of our measuring scales. Then, we do the hypothesis verification

Texte intégralAlthough the term « film noir » is generally associated with Hollywood cinema, this generic label was originally coined in France in reference to French films made in the 1930s, and the « noir » genre defines a transnational form which circulated between Europe and Hollywood. We intend to study « noir » films in French cinema through this lens, highlighting that the genre is rooted in an old French tradition. Our analysis of the evolution of French film noir foregrounds historical and cultural aspects, positing that film noir articulates a critical discourse on modernity. This doctoral thesis shows that the « noir » form underwent changes which evidenced the ambivalence of identity in a nation in transition between 1946 and 1960, that had to negotiate the cultural shift from Occupation to the Consumer society : the « noir realism » cycle expressed a strong pessimism that has nostalgic, masculinist and nationalist implications, in opposition to the « série noire pour rire » which illustrated a playful reappropriation of History and modernity ; last but not least, gangster films built on the contrast between older characters, marked by the burdens of war, and contemporary mutations, including the development of the American way of life in France. Through its diversity, French film noir reveals the contradictions of post-war French society : the country was keen to dive into the future but obsessed with its traumatic past ; in part seduced by the « American model », it was however determined to keep its « French identity »

Texte intégralIn the 1960s, as a result of the promotional movement carried out by critics writing for specialised cinema periodicals, the brazilian cinema novo held a privileged position among the new cinemas. Those periodicals provided the means through which the cinema novo films were given their particular cultural value. As a consequence, this body of films gained recognition as a movement that created an innovative conception of film-making. The interpretations of the cinema novo propounded were elaborated form the observation of the discursive reality perceptible in the periodicals. The approach given to the present work is mostly a historical and socio-cultural one. An analytical method has been draw up in order to account for the particularities of the communication categories examined. However it is neither a media or a semiological and linguistic study, even though both these domains have provided useful techniques. Firstly, this study shows how the spread of ideas produced a cultural model for the cinema novo based on the research of signs common to both the french and the brazilian cultures, so that a pattern off corresponding codes uniting these two cultures could be set. The legitimacy of this cultural model was to be found in ideological agreements previously established between the parties involved in the process. Then, we show that in order to meet the needs of the specialised french critics, who searched for a convincing model of social and political cinema, and those of their promotional strategies, the cinema novo had to fit in the roles determined by editorial tenets upheld in the periodicals. Thus, the main role the cinema novo had to play was that of a replacement for the italian neorealism and for the french new wave

Texte intégralThis research addresses the degree to which theories of the firm explain boundary decisions. Predictions that exist throughout conceptual and empirical literature are applied to the French poultry industry, in which operators integrate their main activities of poultry chain in different ways. Tests relied upon guided interviews in the 14 major French groups in different regions where they operate, and concerned the boundaries in place in three activities of the poultry production chain. Aim was to measure the perceived decision context and analysis was based upon a first qualitative methodology and for a synthetic view, a quantitative methodology was adopted. Our findings suggest that firm boundaries are highlighted by a combined perspective, and theories appeared to be confirmed in a different degree depending on the activity studied and regarding to the structure to be explained. This study has also underlined limits inherent to these approaches as well as other explanatory factors of structures in place

Texte intégralThis work proposes the study of the idea of the “end of History“, as it is presented by the North American political scientist Francis Fukuyama. At first, we delimit the concept from his original article The End of History?, published in 1989, and from his following publications, up to his 1992 book The End of History and the Last Man. In the second part, after contrasting Fukuyama’s idea to Samuel Huntington’s “clash of civilizations” paradigm, we put the conceptual structure proposed by Fukuyama alongside topics regarding theory of history and history of historiography related to the modern concept of History and its eventual exhaustion, already signaled by several authors. The third part approaches the long course of Fukuyama’s work regarding “the end of History”, after the repercussion of his initial article up until the present days, looking for eventual innovations in the conceptual structure previously designed. For the sake of conclusion, we approach the current debates around the topic, to speculate about the future of the field of knowledge and the role attributed to the professional historian.
