I this study, we examine human skeletal remains from the church of San Francis of Paola located in the small town of Sant’Angelo di Brolo, in the Italian region of Sicily. The preserved skeletal remains were temporarily transferred from their permanent resting place in the crypt for a macroscopic examination and evaluation. Various established methods were used to determine age at death, gender, stature, any evidence of disease(s) as well as the fact that there was a minimum of 15 individuals. The findings were then subdivided into different groups of pathologies and recorded as individual cases. Amongst which, dental issues and cases of trauma were most prevalent. Additional conditions such as joint disease, congenital, metabolic and multifactorial disorders were also identified. The prevalence of dental decay indicates that the group’s diet consisted largely of carbohydrates, and that their oral hygiene was poor. Furthermore, evidence of trauma and poor healing suggested that the town was isolated from the main medical centres of the island. Severe complications of traumas linked with a loss of movement and overall independence, as well as physical pain, must have had a significant impact on the lives of those affected.

In 2005, during the composing of the Inventory of the Moveable Cultural Heritage of the Church and Monastery of St Francis of Assisi at Krk, three wooden statues were found in the attic. These had once belonged to a lavish Renaissance triptych at the centre of which was a figure of the Virgin (107 x 45 x 27 cm), flanked by the figures of St John the Baptist (c. 105 x 28 x 30 cm), an apostle with a book (c. 93 x 32 x 22 cm), and, in all likelihood, St James the Apostle. A trace of a small left foot in the Virgin’s lap indicates that the original composition was that of the Virgin and Child. It is highly likely that these statues originally belonged to the altar of St James which mentioned by Augustino Valier during his visitation of the Church of St Francis of Assisi in 1579 as having a pala honorifica . Harmonious proportions, fine modelling of the heads, beautifully and confidently carved drapery of the fabrics, together with almost classical gestures, all point to a good master carver who, in this case, sought inspiration in Venetian painting of the 1520s and 1530s. When attempting to find close parallels in the production of Venetian wood-carving workshops from the first half of the sixteenth century, without a doubt the best candidates are two signed statues from the workshop of Paolo Campsa de Boboti: the statue of the Risen Christ from the parish church of St Lawrence at Soave in Italy, dated to 1533, and the statue of the Virgin and Child in a private collection in Italy, dated to 1534. To these one can add a statue from the Gianfranco Luzzetti collection at Florence, which has been attributed to Campsa’s workshop. Judging from all the above, the statues from St Francis’ might be dated to the 1540s. In the parish church of Holy Trinity at Baška is a wooden triptych which, according to a nineteenth-century record, was inscribed with Campsa’s signature and the year 1514. When Bishop Stefanus David visited the Chapel of St Michael at Baška in 1685, he described in detail this wooden and carved palla on the main altar dedicated to St Michael, noting that the altar is under the patronage of the Papić family who had founded it and made considerable donations to it. The high altar in the Church of St Mary Magdalene at Porat, also on the island of Krk, has a polyptych attributed to Girolamo and Francesco da Santa Croce. Until now, it has been dated to 1556 - the year of the dedication of the altar and the church. However, more frequently than not, a number of years could pass between the furnishing of an altar and its dedication. With this in mind and having re-analyzed the paintings, the polyptych can be dated as early as the previous decade. Until now, the Renaissance statue of St Mary Magdalene (105 x 25 x 13 cm), originally part of an altar predella but today housed in the Monastery’s collection, was not discussed in the scholarly literature save for its iconography. Based on the morphological similarities between the statue of St Mary Magdalene and the three statues at Krk, it can be concluded that they were carved by the same master carver. Written sources inform us that after 1541 Paolo Campsa was no longer alive. Great differences between the works signed by Campsa have already been the subject of scholarly debate and it is known that due to high demand, his workshop included a number of highly skilled wood carvers. In the case of Krk, perhaps the master carver was an employee at Campsa’s workshop who outlived him and who, after its closure, went his own way and was considered good enough to be hired by fellow painters from the Santa Croce workshop. Installing a statue in a predella was a rare occurrence in sixteenth-century Croatia and Venice alike. Even in the case of Campsa. Reliefs were used more frequently. However, this arrangement was customary on contemporary flügelaltaren in the trans-Alpine north. It ought to be considered whether this northern altar design might provide a trail which would lead to a more specific location of a possible master carver.

<p>L’autor parteix de la irrupció del concepte de radicalització en els discursos polítics i socials per analitzar l’evolució del concepte, dels conceptes que se n’han derivat i del seu tractament. Parla d’una distorsió del concepte i aposta per recuperar la seva complexitat, tant pel que fa a les seves formes (diferents tipus de radicalització), com pel que fa a allò que provoca o contribueix al desenvolupament d’aquests fenòmens (parla de multicausalitat i de necessitat d’un abordatge antropològic, sociològic, psicològic i politològic, entre altres). Per altra part l’autor es mostra crític amb l’aposta per una “desradicalització” quasi-terapèutica que va fer l’Estat francès, que va generar uns resultats més que decebedors, i es mostra més confiat per l’aposta actual basada en la “prevenció”, si bé assenyala les limitacions de la formació dels professionals del treball social (en bona mesura resultat de dèficits de formació generals en el sistema educatiu francès) per a abordar amb solvència aquesta tasca. A l’apartat final l’autor apunta els que a parer seu són alguns dels principals dèficits, que en la mesura que es poguessin pal·liar, repercutirien en un millor abordatge dels fenòmens de radicalització violenta i, en general, en una millor comprensió de molts altres fenòmens socials contemporanis que es desenvolupen en paral·lel a aquest.</p>

The article analyses a silver altarpiece in Kotor Cathedral which was made in the repoussé technique in the mid-fifteenth century. The figure of St. Tryphon (fig. 11) is the only saint which had been preserved from an earlier, fourteenth century altarpiece. Two figures (Christ and St. Peter; fig. 2, 3) were made by master John of Basel, active in Kotor until 1440 when he moved to nearby Dubrovnik where he was commissioned, by the Franciscans, with a silver crucifix, still preserved. The figures of three saints (fig. 6, 8), in the right part of the middle row (fig. 5), distinguish themselves from the others with their visual quality and are the work of a master who trained in a more developed artistic centre. A more numerous group of figures, the author of the article attributes to a local goldsmith called Marin Adamov (fig. 5, 9, 10). His work on the altarpiece is directly testified with a document dated in 1445. Finally, the altar piece was dismantled and re-assembled in the seventeenth century when the Venetian master goldsmithVenturin added the figures (of a mediocre quality) of St. Francis and St. Jerome (fig. 13). The author of the paper proposes a reconstruction of the original appearance of the altarpiece in the mid-fifteenth century. Accordingly,saints’ figures were arranged in two rows, with Christ figure in the centre of the upper row. The lower centre figure was St. Tryphon, flanked by St. Marc the Evangelist and St. Simeon the Righteous whose Kotor feast coincides with that of St. Tryphon.

These article examine the circumstances which bring to the division of Franciscan Order in 1517. It begins with beginning of small Reform movement of Fr. Paolo of Trinci at 1368 which outgrow in 15th century in strong Observant movement. The question of observing the Rule of St. Francis was basic problem between Observants and Conventuals, and it grow in big ecclesiastical, political and social problem which was solved at 1517 bay division of the Order. Article is mostly based on published different sources of Franciscan history. Most of these sources are original sources published in various publications of Collegii di S. Bonaventura, in 19th and 20th century.

Tadeusz Różewicz nie poświęca homoseksualizmowi naczelnego miejsca w swojej twórczości, warto jednak zwrócić uwagę na przewijający się w niej nietypowy model męskości, a zwłaszcza na postaci gejów. Przedmiotem zainteresowania autora będą dwa teksty Różewicza: Zakatrupiony oraz Tate Gallery Shop. W wierszach tych podniosła sztuka sąsiaduje z powszednim brudem i „gównem świata”. Zarysowujący się w utworach kontrast sprowadza problem do cielesności bohaterów i ukazuje ich seksualność jako rodzaj piętna. Nawiązania do estetyki kampowej nieoczekiwanie sąsiadują tu z turpistyczną brzydotą i fizjologią śmierci. Zainteresowanie Różewicza społecznym marginesem, dzięki zastosowanym „popowym” chwytom: technikom fragmentu i montażu, właściwym sztukom plastycznym i wizualnym, nawiązuje do malarskich i filmowych kontekstów wierszy, a także biografii bohaterów tych tekstów: Piera Paola Pasoliniego i Francisa Bacona, skutecznie zwracając uwagę odbiorcy na zajmujące poetę problemy współczesnego świata.

El libro Ellas y nosotras. Luchas y contradicciones en los modos de representar a la mujer (1930-1932) tiene como punto de partida la propuesta de Pierre Bourdieu (1996) sobre las representaciones, lo que puede expresarse en un presupuesto teórico con implicaciones metodológicas. Teniendo en cuenta que para el sociólogo francés las representaciones obedecen a luchas por la construcción del mundo, la investigación de la historiadora Diana Paola Pardo Pedraza busca enfocarse en los procesos de estas disputas y en los productos que de ellas resultan, y entiende que tanto dominantes como subordinadas participan en la producción y reproducción de estos discursos. Según Bourdieu (1996), los sujetos sociales disponen de su capital simbólico y cultural para legitimar las representaciones que pretenden posicionar en el campo social.

Nell'insegnamento di Giovanni Paolo II molto frequenti sono stati i riferimenti all’opera di Ireneo di Lione, per cui questo fatto merita una attenzione particolare, quando vogliamo determinare il ruolo dei Padri della Chiesa nel suo magistero. Durante la visista in Francia, del 1986, questo Papa ha dedicato un discorso particolare a Ireneo, durante l'incontro con i docenti dell’Universita Cattolica di Lione (il 7 ottobre). Parlando del Vescovo di Lione e dell'attualita del suo messaggio, Giovanni Paolo II ha sottolineato particolarmente la sua teologia della Tradizione e la necessita di un confronto creativo della teologia fondata sulla Tradizione con la cultura attuale che e sempre legata al modo di manfestarsi della fede. Tra le questioni fondamentali e generali ha messo in rilievo la questione della comprensione adegata dell'antropologia orientata alla teologia, secondo il noto principio formulato da Ireneo: Gloria Dei vivens homo. Dalla presentazione dell'opera del Vescovo di Lione risulta l’impostazione di fondo che permette di chiamarlo: „II teologo di Dio e dell'uomo”.

Fundadora das edições Anacaona, seu projeto foi motivado por um desejo pessoal de difundir a produção literária das minorias e suas diversidades. O desenvolvimento de mudas de Coffea arabica L., em função do porta-enxerto, foi avaliado em condições de campo, na fazenda Jatobá município de Paula Cândido - MG. Utilizaram-se como enxerto quatro genótipos de C. arabica L.: as variedades Catuaí Vermelho IAC 15 e Oeiras MG 6851 e as linhagens H 419-10-3-1-5 e H 514-5-5-3, e, como porta-enxerto, três genótipos de Coffea canephora Pierre et Froenher: Apoatã LC 2258, Conilon Muriaé-1, Robustão Capixaba (EMCAPA 8141) e um genótipo de C. arabica L.: Mundo Novo IAC 376-4, além da utilização de quatro pés-francos. A combinação de enxertia H419/EMCAPA teve aumento na altura da planta, no número de nós da haste principal, no número de ramos plagiotrópicos da haste principal, no diâmetro de caule, no número de nós do ramo plagiotrópico mediano e na produção quando comparada com o respectivo pé-franco. As combinações Catuaí/Apoatã, H514/Apoatã, H514/Conilon e H514/EMCAPA tiveram reduções na produção quando comparadas com os respectivos pés-francos. A enxertia em café pode influenciar o desenvolvimento das plantas, quando se compararam diferentes combinações enxerto/porta-enxerto com os respectivos pés-francos. A linhagem H 419-10-3-1-5 foi beneficiada na produção de café pelos porta-enxertos Apoatã e EMCAPA, e no crescimento apenas pelo EMCAPA.

Artykuł stanowi próbę rekonstrukcji poetyki wczesnych tekstów Krystyny Miłobędzkiej. Głównym przedmiotem zamieszczonych w nim analiz jest tom Spis z natury, powstający w pierwszej połowie lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku jako poetycki debiut, lecz wówczas nieopublikowany. Podejmując łączną lekturę dwóch składających się na niego cykli poetyckich – Anaglifów i Małych mitów – autor wskazuje na konieczność uzupełnienia nasuwającego się w lekturze tego pierwszego odczytania nieantropocentrycznego o implikowaną przez wielopoziomową strukturę tego drugiego interpretację postsekularną. Analizie poddano również cztery wiersze Miłobędzkiej – Małże, Widziane w ogniu, Patrzące chwytliwe oraz Klee – opublikowane w latach sześćdziesiątych w miesięczniku „Twórczość” i niewłączone w żaden jej tom. Pozwoliło to wskazać na możliwe związki wczesnej poezji autorki Wykazu treści z twórczością Francisa Ponge’a i Paula Klee.

RESUMO O romance Ponciá Vicêncio, da escritora afro-brasileira Conceição Evaristo, publicado em 2003 pela editora Mazza, foi traduzido para o inglês pela editora estadunidense Host, em 2007 e, recentemente, em 2015, no Salão do Livro em Paris, ganhou vida também em francês, através da editora Anacaona que lançou L’histoire de Poncia, com tradução de Patrick Louis e Paula Anacaona. É interessante o fato de que a obra de uma escritora não muito conhecida no Brasil tenha sido selecionada para ser traduzida para duas línguas, até o momento. Assim, o presente artigo objetiva trazer algumas considerações sobre a recepção de L’histoire de Poncia na França, investigando alguns aspectos sobre a acolhida da obra em tal contexto.

Durante il terzo pellegrinaggio in Polonia del papa Giovanni Paolo II si svolgerà il II Congresso Eucaristico Nazionale. Gli iniziatori dell’idea dei Congressi furono persone (tra le altre Signorina Tamisier e San Pietro Eymard), la cui spiritualità era caratterizzata da spirito di penitenza, devozione alla Madonna ed al Sacro Cuore di Gesù. Ë sintomatico il fatto che questa idea sia nata tra i cattolici laici in Francia alla fine del XIX secolo. I primi Congressi ebbero luogo in Francia, ma dopo aver ottenuto l’appoggio della Santa Sede si diffusero in tutti continenti, cosi che nel 1985 si erano già svolti 43 Congressi internazionali. Molti paesi, tra gli altri la Francia,' l’Italia, la Germania, la Polonia, gli Stati Uniti hanno organizzato Congressi eucaristici nazionali. Per esempio soltanto in Italia nel 1983 si erano già svolti 20 Congressi eucaristici nazionali. In Polonia si è riuscito ad organizzare soltanto un Congresso nazionale, a Poznań nel 1930, ed i preparativi per l’oganizzazione in Polonia di un Congresso eucaristico internazionale sono stati interrotti dalla II guerra mondiale. Congressi eucaristici su scala ridotta furono organizzati in Polonia da diocesi e parrocchie. Nel periodo tra le due guerre mondiali, nel quale furono organizzati tutti questi Congressi, se ne svolseno più ii 25. La tem atica dei Congressi e le loro parole d’ordine furono molto diverse, ma sebbene fossero sempre legate all’Eucarestia, molto spesso toccarono perô la problematica della giustizia sociale. Soltanto dopo il Concilio Vaticano II la Chiesa ha le norme canonico-liturgiche, che determinano più da vicino che cosa siano e come vadano organizzati i Congressi eucaristici.

Esa falta nos remite directamente al recorte necesario efectuado por la mirada. Será así, entonces, como producciones del registro del reality show, año a año fueron desarrollando una estética particular que buscaría negar esa ausencia de completa realidad. American Horror Story 6: Roanoke posee una alta carga de autorreflexividad tomando distintos formatos televisivos para problematizar los conceptos de ficción-realidad implícitos en ellos. En el presente trabajo se realizará un recorrido por este camino meta-televisivo planteado por la serie y se establecerá un diálogo con trabajos que aborden la temática en cuestión, como los de Paula Sibilia, Michela Marzano, Susan Sontag y Francois Jost.

En días pasados tuvimos como huésped de honor en nuestra universidad al filósofo francés René Schérer, uno de los más ilustres representantes del pensamiento contemporáneo en el ámbito internacional. Egresado de la célebre Escuela Normal Superior de París (rue d’Ulm), René Schérer es actualmente profesor emérito de la Universidad París 8 (Vincennes-Saint Denis). Inicialmente se dio a conocer gracias a sus trabajos sobre estética fenomenológica y fenomenología de la comunicación, así como por su traducción, del alemán al francés, de las Investigaciones lógicas de Husserl y por la biografía y ensayo crítico del filósofo alemán que escribió en colaboración con su amigo el filósofo Arion Kelkel. Se consagró, luego, al estudio de problemas filosóficos vinculados con la defensa de la utopía, el sentido de la hospitalidad, la crítica de la pedagogía, el reconocimiento de la diferencia y la inclusión del otro, el cosmopolitismo y la relación entre la universidad y la política. The shape of religious media communication changed dramatically because of the opportunities given by digital media and by the process of the secularization, structural changes in religious organizations, and the challenge enabled by the huge loss of credibility in the eyes of the world. We can observe certain dynamics in the professional approach of official Catholic media, especially those based in the Vatican. Its on-line project Vatican News has provided news service since 2017, now in almost forty languages. In the spirit of continuing the reform of the Roman curia, for which the founding of Secretary for Communication (now dicastery) was the “pilot” area, Pope Francis appointed the first layperson to lead any office of curia in 2018, and journalist Paolo Ruffini became the prefect. A few months later, one of most famous experts on the Vatican, also a lay person, journalist Andrea Tornielli, became editorial chief of the Dicastery for Communication. Other personal changes continued soon. The goal of this article is to analyse the initiative that Ruffini and Tornielli took in their office during six months after their appointment. The quantitative content analysis of both their Twitter accounts, closely connected with the newscast produced by Vatican News, is the scientific method used in this paper. There were detected new journalistic genres in the social media space (e.g., short video, editorial, story), vast popularity of Pope Francis, and success of his own Twitter activity (he obtained even tens of thousands of followers) or, contrarily, the omission and inconsistency when introducing uneasy themes (abuse crisis in the Catholic Church, ecology or economy) to the public. There was also the surprising realization that Ruffini is more popular in the Twitter milieu than Tornielli.

This is the story of a story. It all began in May 1548, when an Italian Protestant named Francesco Spiera recanted. He had been denounced to the Inquisition the previous November, and, fearful that he would lose his wealth and beggar his family, he renounced Protestantism publicly both at St. Mark's in Venice and in his hometown of Citadella, near Padua. It was a painful decision. Even before his second recantation, he began to hear a voice warning him not to apostatize, and soon after it the voice returned, admonishing him for denying God and sentencing him to eternal damnation. Convinced that he had been forsaken by the Lord, Spiera fell into despair. He removed with his family to Padua, where his woeful condition quickly came to the attention of prominent theologians, including Pier Paolo Vergerio, the bishop of Capodistra, and Matteo Gribaldi, like Spiera, a civil lawyer and a professor at the University of Padua.As Spiera's despair deepened, he was consoled by these eminent scholars and by as many as thirty other men. He suffered terribly, refusing food and rejecting their attempts to persuade him that he was not damned. The days and weeks passed; he maintained his conviction that God had forsaken him. He argued brilliantly with his learned visitors, displaying a remarkable grasp of Scripture and theology, which he deployed to prove his own damnation. He declared that he had committed the sin against the Holy Ghost, the single fault that places one beyond the Lord's mercy.

El presente artículo se propone leer las novelas De ganados y de hombres (2013) y Entierre a sus muertos (2018), de Ana Paula Maia, a partir del concepto de diplomacia animal elaborado por Baptiste Morizot. El filoso francés, en Les diplomates (2016), define la diplomacia animal como un nuevo paradigma de relaciones entre las comunidades bióticas, las cuales se deben entender en su naturaleza política. La escritora brasileña elige, en estas dos novelas, dar cuenta del desempeño de Edgar Wilson, primero como aturdidor en un matadero y luego, como responsable del retiro de los cadáveres animales en una carretera rural. Wilson es el agente de una diplomacia animal, por ocupar la frontera porosa entre lo animal y lo humano, entre un necrocapitalismo y una ética de la consideración. Después de un recorrido teórico por los animal studies desde el prisma post-humanista, se analizará, en las obras, cómo Wilson trata de figurar el agente de una diplomacia animal, la cual se inscribe entre sacrificio y redención, en un territorio explotado y abandonado.

2005-ben Somogy megyében autóút építését megelőző nagyfelületű ásatáson, Balatonlelle határában két késő rézkori csontvázas sír került elő. Mindkét sírban az elhunyton kívül további koponyák maradványait is megtalálták. A 415. sírba temetett 8–9 éves gyermek csuklóján csaknem tiszta rézből készült pántkarperec, a nyakán szerves anyagból kialakított fekete, gagát jellegű gyöngy, és egy kalapált lemezgyöngy volt az edénymellékleteken kívül. A temetkezési mód és az analógia nélküli ékszermellékletek arra utalnak, hogy a sírba különleges státuszú gyereket temettek. A DNS elemzés rokonságot is ki tudott mutatni az elhunyt fiú és a sírjába tett egyes koponyamaradványok között. A fekete gyöngyöt kombinált optikai mikroszkópos, röntgenfluoreszcens spektroszkópos (XRF), pásztázó elektronmikroszkópos, Fourier transzformációs infravörös spektroszkópos (FTIR) és stabilizotóp-geokémiai vizsgálatoknak vetettük alá. A gyöngy könnyű, hálózatosan repedezett anyag, ami meglehetősen törékeny és a törési felület fényes, kagylós törést mutat. A belső szerkezet csiszolt felületen hosszúkás, irányított pórusokat mutat, a szénült fa szerkezetéhez hasonlóan. Az XRF elemzések a szilikátok alárendelt mennyiségét jelzik, így a szervesanyag-dús üledékes kőzet (pala) kizárható. A szakirodalomban gagátnak (angolul jet) nevezett minta FTIR spektruma jelentősen különbözik az ismert gagát/jet előfordulásokétól, viszont erősen hasonlít a karbon korú kőszenekhez, különösen a francia és spanyol előfordulásokhoz. A stabilhidrogén- és -szénizotóp- összetételek a leginkább a karbon korú szenekhez állnak közel, a helyi és a közeli regionális szenek, valamint a speciális képződési környezetet jelentő gagát (jet) előfordulások elvethetőek forrásanyagként. Az adatok együttesen legvalószínűbb forrásként a spanyol vagy francia karbon korú szenekre utalnak, mint potenciális forráskőzetre. Mindazonáltal további szisztematikus gyűjtés és elemzések szükségesek a „gagát” gyöngy eredetének feltárására.
