Résumé :

(1) Methods for checking the condition of monumental masonry structures can still be considered understudied. Among the different approaches available in the literature, the graphical ones have a special role, due to their simplicity and effectiveness. (2) In this work, a 2D method (Thrust Line Analysis (TLA)), the Modified Thrust Line Method (MTLM), and the 3D Membrane Equilibrium Analysis (MEA) method are compared. All methods have the same starting concept: no tensile strength, no sliding between the stone blocks, infinite compressive strength. (3) The methods are compared in terms of stress distribution (for the same—or similar—thrust line), and in terms of the Geometrical Safety Factor ensured. (4) The work shows that these theories, if properly conveyed in a scientific methodology (as many authors are doing currently and have done in the past) demonstrate the effectiveness and the advantages of graphical methods for simple structures.

Questa rassegna discute, da tre diverse prospettive L'Italia come storia, a cura di Francesco Benigno e Igor Mineo. Il volume tratta, con una periodizzazione ampia, i principali snodi attraverso i quali la storiografia ha tematizzato, sia in termini positivi sia negativi il tema dell'eccezione, attraverso cui è stata interpretata la storia d'Italia. Paola Bianchi ripercorre alcuni nodi emersi nella frammentazione crescente delle ricerche sulla storia italiana, con particolare attenzione agli studi che hanno indagato l'età moderna. Fino a un passato non troppo remoto, le diverse definizioni del "canone nazionale" sono state declinate in relazione al raggiungimento dello Stato unitario e adottando il presupposto di una primigenia matrice culturale. Interrogarsi su tali canoni porta a misurarsi con i vari significati che sono stati attribuiti alla "modernità", alla "modernizzazione" e alla condivisione o meno di un "canone europeo". Tutte questioni non meno aperte e ricche di implicazioni nel presente.

BackgroundBone mass reaches the peak during the third decade of life. By this age, men reach an increased bone mass that starts declining in their fifties, however less rapidly than women after menopause. However, men and women lose bone mass at the same rate by age 65-70, becoming fragile and more likely to have fracture.ObjectivesThis study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy in osteoporosis diagnosis of Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry (REMS) technology applied on the proximal femur in an adult male population in comparison with the Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA).MethodsA cohort of Caucasian males was enrolled in the study. Inclusion criteria were: age between 30 and 90 years, body mass index (BMI) less than 40 kg/m2, no significant walking impairments and proximal femur DXA medical prescription. All the enrolled patients underwent proximal femur scans with both DXA and REMS. The agreement between REMS and DXA-measured BMD was expressed by Pearson correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman method. The classification into patients “with osteoporosis” or “without osteoporosis” was carried out considering the conventional threshold of T-score (-2.5) for both techniques independently. The accuracy was evaluated by the assessment of sensitivity and specificity considering the DXA outcome as reference [1].ResultsA total of 219 men were included in the analysis, with mean age of 55.5 (± 15.3) years. The Pearson correlation coefficient between REMS- and DXA-measured BMD values was r=0.94. At Bland-Altman analysis, Bias ± 1.96 Standard Deviation were -0.004 ± 0.04 g/cm2. The REMS capability to discriminate osteoporotic patients from non-osteoporotic ones was very high: a sensitivity of 90.0% and specificity of 91.8% was detected.ConclusionREMS, applied to the proximal femur site, is a reliable technology for the diagnosis of osteoporosis also in men, thus confirming the diagnostic performance already observed in studies carried out in female populations [1, 2].References[1]Di Paola P et al. Background:During rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a chronic autoimmune disease, the loop existing between inflammation and angiogenesis, characterised by new vessels formation associated with the increased recruitment of inflammatory cells, via the abnormal neo-angiogenesis in the synovial tissues, is considered an early important pathogenic mechanism.Tofacitinib, a potent and selective JAK inhibitor, showed a good profile of safety and efficacy in RA patients, slowing the radiographic progression of the disease. In the last years, many works confirmed that some pro-angiogenic genes are targets of STATs family, and among them, vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF), a potent pro-angiogenic molecule, may promote the new vessels formation via JAK/STAT pathways.Objectives:The aim of this work was to investigate the inhibiting role of tofacitinib, on the angiogenic mechanisms occurring during experimental model of arthritis.Methods:Healthy control (HC) ECs were stimulated with VEGF and/or tofacitinib and assessed for tube formation and migration, by matrigel and Boyden chamber assay. Furthermore, after ethical approval the experimental model of arthritis was obtained, stimulating 32 mice with collagen (CIA) and 32 mice with PBS (control). At day-19, CIA and controls mice were divided in 16 mice receiving vehicle and 16 mice receiving tofacitinib. At day-35, the mice were scarified and the thickness of paw joints, the synovial vessels and the serum levels of VEGF and Ang-2 were evaluatedResults:In vitro, after tofacitinib-treatment, HC-ECs lose their ability to form vessels and to migrate.In vivo, tofacitinib significantly prevented the increase of paw thickness induced by the collagen administration and reduced the vessel density in synovial tissues of joints, when compared to CIA that did not received tofacitinib. Furthermore, the serum levels of VEGF and Ang-2 were higher in CIA mice, than in control mice. The administration of tofacitinib was able to prevent the VEGF and Ang-2 accumulation in CIA mice.Conclusion:During the last decade, the biological analogies between solid tumors and synovial pannus, and the encouraging results of anti-angiogenic treatments in oncology, lead to increasing interest for angiogenesis as a possible therapeutic target in RA. The present study demonstrated the anti-angiogenic efficacy of tofacitinib, opening a new perspective application for this molecule and improving our therapeutic skill to control the clinical evolution of RA.References:[1]Leblond A et al. Résumé :

Background:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is the main cause of death in Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Chest CT is the gold standard in detecting ILD although it is not easy to understand its prognostic value. ILD qualitative assessment is almost worthless. Goh et al. semi quantitative score of ILD extent is related to mortality risk but it is burdened by relevant inter/intra-readers variability. An operator independent algorithm based on voxel-wise analysis proved to identify SSc patients with an increased risk of mortality according to prediction models.Objectives:To verify if quantitative analysis of chest CT (QCT) predict 10 years-mortality in SSc patients.Methods:SSc patients with availability of a chest CT were enrolled in 13 different centers. The CT voxel-wise analysis with a free software (www.horosproject.com) provided QCT indexes: kurtosis, skewness, mean lung attenuation and standard deviation. Patients characteristics, autoimmune profile and pulmonary function test were collected. The follow-up interval lasted from the date of chest CT to the one of the last visit or death. Each QCT index cutoff, established in a previous study (1), clustered patients in two groups. Kaplan-Meier analysis estimated and compared survival in the above mentioned groups. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results:Five hundred sixty three SSc patients were enrolled (35938 patient-months); 52.4% had ILD detectable at CT scan. For each QCT index cutoff the cohort was split in two subgroups without differences in terms of sex, age, disease duration, autoimmune profile. All QCT indexes’ cutoff selected subgroups with statistically different survival rate (e.g in Figure 1).Figure 1Conclusion:QCT can arise as the new gold standard in identifying SSc patients with poor prognosis. ‘QUI PERUSII IN ARCHA SAXEA TUMULATUS’: LA TOMBA DEL BEATO EGIDIO NELLA CHIESA DI SAN FRANCESCO AL PRATO, PERUGIAL'autore presenta una nuova ricostruzione della tomba del Beato Egidio (†1262), il terzo compagno di San Francesco ed una delle figure più importanti della prima storia francescana. La tomba di Egidio a San Francesco al Prato, Perugia, ha acquisito una notevole considerazione nello studio del primo patrocinio francescano grazie sia all'uso di un sarcofago paleocristiano che all'indiscutibile influenza di quest'arca sulla pala d'altare dipinta su entrambi i lati per la chiesa dal Maestro di San Francesco (c. 1272). Conseguentemente, gli studiosi hanno collocato il sarcofago di Egidio al di sotto dell'altare maggiore di San Francesco al Prato, in modo da formare un unico insieme visivo con il retroaltare. Tuttavia, una serie di fonti inedite indica che il Beato fu invece sepolto nel transetto meridionale. Secondo questa ricostruzione, la sua tomba va invece collocata nella tradizione delle tombe elevate a cassa, esemplificata dall'arca di tredicesimo secolo di San Domenico a Bologna. In termini di accesso e pratica devozionale, la tomba a cassa elevata era da un punto di vista funzionale più soddisfacente della sistemazione dell'altare maggiore impiegata nella stessa tomba di Francesco. La tomba di Egidio dimostra dunque come, quando necessario, i Frati Minori potessero rifiutare il modello fornito dalla loro Chiesa Madre di Assisi.

This paper focuses on large domes’ building techniques and use of geometric rules in the design and construction of religious structures. A quick excursus on the cultural heritage in Italy and abroad highlights how domes have been used almost exclusively in sacred architecture, rather than in civic buildings, for most of history. Born of the need to cover large spaces without facing with the encumbrance of vertical elements, the domed cover, ideal for places of worship crowded by hundreds of faithful, has assumed, over the centuries, a symbolic meaning to every religion. In fact, identifying the shape of a large dome in the urban landscape immediately means to recognize the sacredness of that place. The ancient Romans who believed in the gods, Christians, Hindus and Muslims, all used this very peculiar architectural element in churches or mosques to express a kind of spiritual symbolism and, as mentioned, the fact that the shape of the dome arises from a functional reason, it has over time got pushed aside. Furthermore, the circle is a geometric form that possesses a great symbolic force, generated by the idea that, having no beginning and no end, reflected perfection, the eternal, and also the heavens. In this perspective, drawing a circle both in the horizontal and vertical section, the ultimate paradigm for all monumental domes was the Roman Pantheon which, with its centrally placed "oculus" or “eye of heaven” proved to be a model for all other domes after it, retaining its position as the most ancient and well preserved dome in the world. Therefore, this article concentrates on the study of the Pantheon as an emblem and reference model for all monumental domes. By analyzing the “meaning” of its architectural design and its structural and geometric characteristics, the research dissects a comparison between similar large domes, similar to each other, such as that of St. Francesco di Paola in Naples and the Mosta Dome in Malta. The comprehension of these valuable architectural artifacts lies between the search for their original geometry and the identification of structural models through which their shape was defined, namely the geometric and proportional rules of the past.

В статье представлены результаты изучения эго-документов двух тосканских купцов — Россо ди Строцца дельи Строцци и Лапаччо ди Якопо, факторов Франческо Датини, действовавших в Кафе в конце XIV в. Предложена авторская транскрипция их писем, содержащая несколько уточнений к доступной для изучения публикации, а также перевод писем с тосканского «volgare» на русский язык. Целью исследования является получение новых данных об оценке тосканцами их коммерческих перспектив в Северном Причерноморье. Изучение писем торговых агентов Датини подтвердило складывание неблагоприятной для торговли ситуации в Северном Причерноморье в конце XIV в. под воздействием османской угрозы, вспышек чумы и военных походов Тимура (Тамерлана). Было обнаружено присущее факторам Датини стремление свернуть все дела в Кафе и вернуться в Тоскану, обусловленное, главным образом, повышением цен на зерно, которое было основным предметом их торговли. При помощи электронной СНСА архива Датини были реконструированы цепочки коммуникаций представителей тосканской компании, состоящие из ранее неопубликованных документов. Так, письмо Якопо из Кафы оказалось последним из написанных его рукой, а у Строцци обнаружились два письма, написанные им спустя четыре года после возвращения из Кафы. Обнаружение неопубликованных писем побуждает к новым исследованиям. The article presents the results of studying the ego-documents of two Tuscan merchants, Rosso di Strozza degli Strozzi and Lapaccio di Jacopo, who were the trade agents of Francesco Datini and acted in Caffa at the end of the 14thcentury. A new transliteration is given containing some amendments to the previous reading of Paola Massa, as well as a new Russian translation of Strozza’s and Jacopo’s letters originally written in Tuscan volgare. The aim of the study was to obtain new information about the assessment by Tuscan merchants of the prospects for trade in the Northern Black Sea region. In the 14thcentury, Tuscan companies sought access to new eastern markets and therefore sent their agents to the Northern Black Searegion. Our study of the published letters from the Datini archive reveals that a negative situation has formed back then in the Northern Black Sea trade caused by the Ottoman threat, plague, and Timur’s conquests. We found that the Datini’s factors sought to stop trading in Caffa and return to Tuscany due to the increase in the price of grain, which was the main subject of their trade. Using the search engine of the Datini’s archive, we reconstructed a business network of Datini’s trade agents from Caffa, consisting of previously unpublished documents. We found that Jacopo’s letter from Caffa is the last in his network, while Strozzi wrote two more letters after returning from Caffa. The discovery of his unpublished letters requires new research.

Résumé :

Background:Over the last 2 decades rituximab (RTX) has been widely used, albeit off-label, in primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS). Several studies reported that B-lymphocyte depletion with RTX is effective in this disease not only by reducing disease activity but also by affecting the inflammation and the lymphoid organization that occur in target tissues. With the recent release of several RTX biosimilars (bRTX) on the market, the demonstration of their interchangeability with RTX originator (oRTX) is required.Objectives:To compare efficacy and safety of oRTX and bRTX in pSS patients in a real-life setting.Methods:Clinical records of pSS patients referring to a tertiary rheumatology clinic were retrospectively evaluated. Patients having received at least 2 courses of either oRTX or bRTX (1000 mg IV infusion, repeated after 2 weeks -1 course- and the course repeated after 24 weeks) with complete data at baseline and after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of treatment were enrolled. Disease activity was assessed with the EULAR SS disease activity index (ESSDAI) and its clinical version without the biological domain (ClinESSDAI). Patient-reported symptoms were assessed with the EULAR SS Patient Reported Index (ESSPRI).Results:Seven patients that received oRTX and 7 patients that received bRTX were enrolled. Baseline clinical features, including ESSDAI and ESSPRI were similar in the 2 treatment groups. Both compounds significantly reduced ESSDAI and ESSPRI as early as 3 months and no difference between the groups was observed at any time point (Figure 1). Of interest, ESSDAI slowly decreased until month 6 when the most pronounced reduction was observed. Conversely, ESSPRI dropped to its lowest values already at month 3. With regard to safety, at 12 months of follow-up no adverse event was observed in any of the treatment groups.Conclusion:At 12 months of follow-up, oRTX and bRTX display similar efficacy and safety profiles. The improvement of patient reported outcomes is faster than the improvement of disease activity with both compounds. Il saggio presenta tutti i dati disponibili utili al ritrovamento di un testo per ora fantasma, quale la Risposta di Paolo Paruta (Venezia, 1540 - 1598) alla Lettera XXX dello pseudo-Dante, falso d’autore editando il quale nel 1547 il fiorentino Anton Francesco Doni scatenò una violenta polemica politica anti-veneziana. Nuove ricerche dimostrano come nella celebre biblioteca padovana di Gian Vincenzo Pinelli fosse conservata una copia della Risposta. Paruta e Pinelli, infatti, condividevano molti interessi e conoscenze negli ambienti della Padova e della Venezia del Secondo Cinquecento.

Il saggio esamina alcuni trattati di retorica pubblicati tra la fine del Cinque e l'inizio del Seicento. Partendo dall'analisi di alcune retoriche cinquecentesche, passando dal confronto tra due dei maggiori esponenti teorici dell'oratoria sacra, Francesco Panigarola e Paolo Aresi, e arrivando ad alcuni trattatisti del primo Seicento, il contributo si concentrerà prevalentemente sulle informazioni retoriche relative alla pragmatica, ossia tutto ciò che nella predicazione riguarda l'uso della voce e dei gesti. L’actio infatti si configura come un'importante chiave di lettura per l'interpretazione della predica cinque e secentesca e permette di individuare come e quanto il parlato intervenga sullo scritto.

Pietro Aretino intrattiene da Venezia diverse corrispondenze con personaggi di spicco del panorama politico e culturale, come traspare dai nomi altisonanti presenti nelle sue Lettere. Quando decide di rendere noti i suoi contatti epistolari e di includerli in un libro, ottiene un immediato successo che spinge il suo editore, Francesco Marcolini, a stampare nuove edizioni dell’opera. Con l’intento di ribadire il suo primato nell’epistolografia in volgare, Aretino biasima gli scrittori e i tipografi che pubblicano, subito dopo di lui, una moltitudine di libri di lettere, imitandolo. Dalla sua critica esonera però le persone più in vista di Venezia, tra cui Paolo Manuzio, prolifico autore ed editore di raccolte epistolari. Il presente lavoro si propone di analizzare quelle lettere che svelano il complesso meccanismo editoriale che sta dietro agli scambi epistolari del primo Cinquecento.

L'articolo prende in esame un aspetto poco indagato dell'attività della Commissione d'Ornato di Milano nella prima metà dell'Ottocento, interrogandosi sugli effetti della presenza di esponenti della cultura prospettica, come Paolo Landriani e Francesco Durelli, in un organo destinato a sovrintendere l'edilizia cittadina. Attraverso una serie di indizi tratti dalle fonti d'archivio emerge infatti la loro disponibilità ad allargare i riferimenti espressivi dalle norme vitruviane alle più libere proporzioni del linguaggio bramantesco e la loro sensibilità per la dimensione complessa dello spazio urbano. Attitudini che svolgono un'azione erosiva nei confronti dei modelli culturali su cui la commissione era chiamata a vigilare, traghettando la sensibilità della cultura architettonica milanese dal rigido classicismo di inizio secolo al più variegato panorama degli anni preunitari.

Negli ultimi anni, molto è stato detto, nella storiografia dell’arte brasiliana, sulla creazione delle istituzioni artistiche dedicate all’arte moderna nel paese, a partire dai contatti, negli anni Quaranta, del critico paulistano Sérgio Milliet e, poi, dell’industriale Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho (di discendenza italiana) con gli Stati Uniti, in particolare col Museum of Modern Art di New York. Da queste trattative, svolte con maggior intensità nel 1946, risultò l’acquisto, da parte di Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho e di sua moglie, Yolanda Penteado, di un primo gruppo di opere moderniste italiane e francesi, che giunsero in Brasile nel 1947. Quei due anni segnarono l’inizio del progetto di costituzione del primo Museo d’Arte Moderna di San Paolo (MAM), la cui collezione fu trasferita all’Università di San Paolo nel 1963, con la creazione del Museo di Arte Contemporanea (MAC-USP) per accoglierla.Il saggio si concentra su un dipinto di Achille Funi incluso nella collezione, L’indovina (1924), comprato per tramite della Galleria Il Milione di Milano nel 1946.

Nel presente articolo è stata trattata la problematica della successione apostolica (delle ordinazioni episcopali) dei pastori della diocesi (dal 1818 archidiocesi) di Varsavia. Prima sono presentati insieme i dati riguardanti le ordinazioni episcopali dei singoli vescovi ordinari, arcivescovi metropoliti ed ausiliari, nonché degli insigniti di dignità vescovile amministratori apostolici della Chiesa di Varsavia. Poi, questi presuli sono stati aggregati alle distinte, nella letteratura d’argomento, linee della successione delle ordinazioni episcopali. O nexo estabelecido por Pier Paolo Pasolini entre realidade e linguagem constitui uma tensão que distende as suas obras em distintos meios de expressão. Diante dos vínculos particulares que ele estabelece entre a linguagem pictórica e a poética, nos quais a recepção do aparato crítico de Roberto Longhi se mostra estratégica, propõe-se considerá-los por meio do gesto exemplarmente cristalizado nos versos de Gli affreschi di Piero ad Arezzo, primeira parte do poema La ricchezza (1955-1957), coligido em La religione del mio tempo (1961). Nesses versos, para os quais se apresenta tradução neste artigo, o impacto produzido pela pintura renascentista de Piero della Francesca permite observar o vitalismo estético que fundamenta a práxis poética pasoliniana, assim como a crítica do presente que articula tal prática. Nesse sentido, verifica-se que também a perspectiva de Pasolini acerca das artes visuais se revela uma penetrante tradução histórica e crítica da própria realidade como forma de linguagem.

Nel primo Pier Francesco Galli, in una breve nota introduttiva, sot-tolinea l'importante ruolo storico avuto dalla psicoanalisi svizzera nella formazione di molti colle-ghi italiani. Nel secondo scritto Berthold Rothschild racconta, riproducendo anche un carteggio, le vicissitudini che hanno portato alla cancellazione del suo invito a un convegno su "Psicoanalisi, cultura e politica", che doveva tenersi a Ginevra il 6 giugno 2020, organizzato dal Centre Psycha-nalytique Raymond de Saussure (CPRS) della Società Svizzera di Psicoanalisi (Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Psychoanalyse [SGPsa]); questo invito è stato cancellato per le proteste di alcuni psicoanalisti di lingua tedesca della Società Svizzera di Psicoanalisi che ancora ricordano la scis-sione, avvenuta nel 1977, tra il "Seminario Psicoanalitico di Zurigo" (Psychoanalytisches Semi-nar Zürich [PSZ]), cui appartiene Rothschild, e la Società Svizzera di Psicoanalisi, a sèguito delle vicende che portarono alla cancellazione di un convegno che doveva essere tenuto nel 1974 a In-terlaken (è questa la ragione per cui nel titolo si parla di "atto secondo"). Nel terzo scritto viene riportata la documentazione dell'"affaire Interlaken", originariamente pubblicata nei numeri 4/1975 e 3/2015 di Psicoterapia e Scienze Umane e mai pubblicata in altre lingue.

Résumé :

Background:Articular manifestations (AMs) are observed in a large proportion of patients with primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) and can occur at the time of pSS diagnosis or during the disease course. Although in the majority of cases AMs are mild and self-limiting, some patients may experience chronic polyarthritis requiring treatment with DMARDs. However to date no specific discriminating biomarkers have been identified. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can help assessing the extent of articular involvement and guide the treatment.Objectives:To describe clinical and serological features of patients with pSS developing articular involvement along with the MRI findings of affected joints.Methods:Clinical records were retrospectively evaluated and MRI was performed to evaluate AMs. Disease activity was assessed with the EULAR SS disease activity index (ESSDAI) and its clinical version without the biological domain (ClinESSDAI). Patient-reported symptoms were assessed with the EULAR SS Patient Reported Index (ESSPRI). MRI features were described according to the OMERACT rheumatoid arthritis (RA) MRI scoring system. Values are displayed as mean ± standard error of the mean or number and percentages. Patients were tested for autoantibodies such as anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide, anti-citrullinated α enolase and anti-carbamylated proteins with commercially available ELISA kits.Results:45 pSS patients were included. 29 patients (64%) displayed AMs at pSS onset while 15 (36%) at a later stage (6.7±1 years after pSS diagnosis). Besides AMs, at the time of pSS diagnosis the two cohorts were comparable with regard to other ESSDAI domains. Interestingly, all patients with anti-SSA and anti-/SSB had AMs at the time of pSS diagnosis (p=0.05) while those developing AMs in the disease course were more likely single positive for anti-SSA (p=0.04). When comparing the clinical and serological features of both groups of patients at the time of overt AMs (Tables 1-2), patients that displayed AMs in the course of the disease have a significantly higher ESSPRI compared to patients that display AMs at pSS onset. With regard to MRI, 80% of patients with AM displayed signs of synovitis, 59% bone erosions, 59% joint space narrowing and 50% bone marrow oedema. To note, 60% of patients displaying AMs at pSS onset show bone marrow oedema while this is present in only 27% of patients developing AMs at a later stage (p<0.05). Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide, anti-citrullinated α enolase, anti-carbamylated proteins were undetectable in all patients.Conclusion:Our results confirm the relevance of AMs in pSS, particularly because of the high prevalence of RA-like MRI features. Il seguente articolo intende valutare più approfonditamente alcune ipotesi sull’eziologia della nevrosi in Memoriale di Paolo Volponi, partendo proprio dall’originaria definizione di questa fornitaci da Freud. Spesso l’interpretazione del testo è rimasta troppo confinata ad un’esclusiva lettura in chiave di “romanzo familiare”, usando una dicitura strettamente analitica del contesto di riferimento, presentato quale unico fattore da cui scaturirebbe il disturbo nevrotico, ben più complesso e subdolo del previsto o di quanto, superficialmente, emerge dal vissuto di Albino, protagonista in primis ed io narrante della storia ed autore del memoriale. L’articolo, dopo una prima attenta e circostanziata descrizione della realtà interiore del nostro, delle sue attitudini ed aspettative, delle sue incertezze e, soprattutto, dei suoi “mali” fisici e morali che tornano quasi come un refrain nelle pagine e nelle note autobiografiche del romanzo, indaga il nesso molto stretto tra nevrosi, sindrome paranoide ed infezione tubercolotica, sulla base di quanto afferma in maniera profonda e precisa lo psichiatra francese Henri Baruk. La tesi si avvale, inoltre, di una confessione importante ad opera del protagonista che chiarisce bene le scaturigini della sua malattia fisica. Egli afferma, infatti, che la mancanza di una resistenza, di un pensiero “forte” fondato su progetti concreti e meno utopici ed astratti, aveva permesso alla tubercolosi d’insinuarsi inconsciamente e lentamente sotto la sua pelle.

Abstract<title> RIASSUNTO </title>Un manoscritto venuto recentemente alla luce a Londra rappresenta un legame importante tra gli studi rinascimentali della matematica greca e la nascita dell'algebra moderna. Il manoscritto è composto da 3 parti. La prima è la copia del tipografo per la prima edizione della traduzione dell'Archimede eseguita da Federico Commandino e pubblicata da Paolo Manuzio a Venezia nel 1558. Il documento porta le correzioni e le istruzioni manoscritte del Commandino per il tipografo. Nei margini sono incollate 41 figure geometriche incise, prove per l'edizione a stampa. La seconda parte contiene una raccolta di note e lettere, tutte riguardanti problemi di geometria e di matematica. Otto dei fogli potrebbero essere stati scritti dall'allievo del Commandino, Guidobaldo dal Monte. L'ultima parte, con ogni probabilità scritta nella Francia del nord durante la prima parte del diciassettesimo secolo, è strettamente collegata alle ricerche matematiche di François Viète. Il testo, apparentemente il lavoro di un allievo, tratta i vari argomenti della « nuova algebra» e <?CTRLerr type="1" mess="Doute Cars isoles avec recollage" ?>cita l'opera di Viète. Questo volume appartenne per un certo periodo alla Biblioteca Albani. Infatti, il primo foglio del testo di Archimede porta lo stemma di Giovanni Francesco Albani (papa Clemente XI). Nel diciannovesimo secolo, invece, entrò a far parte della collezione di Baldassarre Boncompagni Ludovisi.

La cittŕ di Dakar rappresenta l'emblema dell'accentramento politico-amministrativo "alla francese". Il suo sviluppo urbano ha visto una crescita esponenziale che ha portato al sovraffollamento di molte aree urbane e peri-urbane soprattutto negli ultimi vent'anni. Le autoritŕ politiche hanno cercato di arginare il problema della crescita disomogenea e sregolata della cittŕ: dapprima attuando politiche stataliste di regolarizzazione forzata, successivamente attraverso progetti di costruzione partecipata dell'habitat urbano. L'unicitŕ della gestione urbana della cittŕ risiede nel codice urbanistico senegalese che lascia al presidente della Repubblica l'ultima parola riguardo alle decisioni di politica urbana; questo a dimostrazione dell'importanza e del peso politico che ricoprono le problematiche urbane in questo paese e del difficile processo di decentralizzazione tuttora da metabolizzare. Negli ultimi anni, il presidente Abdoulaye Wade ha cercato di dare nuovo slancio alla capitale inaugurando costosi progetti infrastrutturali e avviando la costruzione di monumenti grandiosi, che danno lustro alla cittŕ; il suo obiettivo č riconsegnare alla cittŕ il ruolo di capitale dell'Africa francofona e, possibilmente, dell'Africa tutta, come polo trainante degli affari economici e commerciali della costa ovest.

BackgroundUncontrolled systemic inflammation characterizes COVID-19 and autoinflammatory diseases such as adult-onset Still’s disease (AOSD). Biosynthesis of pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), i.e. lipoxins (LX), resolvins (Rv), protectins (PD), and maresins (MaR), ensures inflammation shutdown and tissue repair, limiting neutrophils recruitment and stimulating macrophages to remove apoptotic cells. Among protectins, reduction of PD1 was found in the lungs of mice infected with the H5N1 influenza virus and experimental treatment with PD1 resulted in increased animals’ survival (Morita M et al 2013).ObjectivesWe investigated the effects of SPMs in pathogenesis and clinical evolution of AOSD and compared these data with mild and severe COVID-19. Finally, we analyzed the potential role of PD1 in modulating the inflammatory response of macrophages obtained from AOSD patients, COVID-19 patients and healthy donors (HDs).Methods21 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 (10 ICU and 11 hospitalized in medical clinical unit) and 13 patients with AOSD were enrolled. Plasma PD1 levels from patients and controls were analyzed by ELISA, and monocytes-derived macrophages were polarized into M1 and M2 phenotype. We analyzed the effect of PD-1 on macrophages differentiation. At 10 days, macrophages were analyzed for surface expression of subtypes markers by flow cytometry. Cytokines production was measured in supernatants by Bio-Plex Assays. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCS) from 3 AOSD patients, 2 COVID-19 patients and 3 HDs were obtained. Next-generation deep sequencing was then performed to identify the differences in PBMCs transcripts profiles.ResultsAOSD patients with systemic scored (SS) ≥1 showed an increase of PD1 levels compared to AOSD patients with lower systemic score (p=0.04) (Figure 1A). Similarly, plasma levels of PD1 were increased in COVID-19 patients independently from their clinical subsets, compared to HDs (p=0.02). In vitro treatment with PD1 of monocytes-derived macrophages from AOSD and COVID-19 patients induced a significant increase of M2 polarization vs control (p<0.05) (Figure 1B). Furthermore, a significant release of IL-10 and CCL4 from M2 macrophages was observed when compared to control (p<0.05) (Figure 1C). In the transcriptomes from 3 AOSD patients (2 mild and 1 severe), 2 COVID-19 patients (1 mild and 1 ICU) and 2 HDs, we observed that genes involved in inflammation, lipid catabolism and monocytes activation were specifically dysregulated in AOSD and COVID-19 patients when compared to HDs. Among them pla2g15, pla2g12a, pla2g2d, involved in mobilization of SPMs precursors, were significant upregulated in patients compared to HDs (p<.01, |log2FoldChange|>1.2) (Figure 1D).
